Very interesting professor, doesn't talk about e-commerce at all, lectures about world politics and history instead, pretty good overall except he's a total psycho on vocabulary definitions, take him if you can.
You would think your in a politics or history class, definitely not an E-commerce class. Talks on and on about his narrow minded views of the world. Gives 3 exams based on like 300 vocab words and a website with ur term paper on it assignment. stay away!
this dude is very insightful, knows his stuff, but the class is totally of corse. If you like politic and dont mind memorizing 500 words take him

He's very laid back and is very flexible but require a lot of work. He tends to get off the road whenever he talkas about something.
This proffesor is not a good professor at all this class was the hardest most boring class ever... he is blind, unhelpful and annoying ... e thinks be is the best and hes not... avoid him at all cause
You do not learn anything on the course topic. just go in there and talk politics. One midterm and one final with a project to his liking. The only work you need to do is master his long vocabulary list and you gonna get an A.

Dont do it to yourself. Just dont. The first day in, he seems like a great teacher. By the end of the term, you will know more about his several degrees, and his three grandchildren, more than computers. He expects the student to learn by reading.
DO NOT DO IT. if you've never had a headache in class before, be prepared. rambles on about politics and things that are off topic, doesn't go through anything, expects you to know and "assume" a lot. just don't take him, it's a full two hours of hell..
you dont learn anything, class is a waste of time, take other teachers who are easier. hes mad boring and no help on ur work. you basically have to do everything on ur own.

He gives alot of work but Grandpa loves his students so try to do your work and show effort and he'll help you. I'm doing well because I'm good with computers but I guess thats not everybody.
Very friendly and organized. As with all CIS 101 classes, there's a lot of work to be done and most of it is done on your own. So if you don't put in the time and effort into this class, you won't do well.

This class is a terror. Please aviod it, especially if you're taking it as a Core Class. Seriously, I'm trying to save you. He's nice but SUCKS as a professor
he is a (explitive deleted) arrogant (another explitive deleted) idiot who lectures on how we should know all of the stuff when he dosent say a word on the course material. Aviod him like the plauge if you want to live.
Attacked a student with abusive rhetoric and refused to discuss or even acknowledge alternate point-of-view. Lectures seem to be ego-based and not at all related to the course material, computing, or university matters. The resurgence of the bubonic plague is here; it's name is Stephen Sumner. Avoid it.
Not only has he continuously degraded any one who might disagree with him, he is an incredible ****. If you're not a militant jew, are a proponent of innovative, progressive ideas & technology, you are screwed. First class, he talked about himself for 2 hours and assigned two Excel projects. I wouldn't make my worst enemy sit through this class.
He's a terrible professor. He doesn't talk about anything relevant in the class. For example, he spent about half a class teaching binary numbers, why? I don't know. Buy the book because you will be teaching yourself the entire class...
Not a bad teacher - he is very accessible if you need help in the class (through e-mail and phone calls). his classes tend to be a bit boring and long.
ehh....hes alright. you only learn from the books. You can ask him questions, 1 on 1 are better, but after he tries to explain something to you....you still feel like helen keller. Just try to look past the bad and buckle down on the work, because basically you make your own grade

never teaches anything in class, you have to learn from the book.
This man is NOT a good professor. He doesn't really teach you at all during the TWO HOUR LECTURE! The class should have been named life lessons by Dr. Sumner. He sits there and talks about the 70yrs he's been alive and expects you to be able to make websites. The material isn't hard, but having to teach yourself everything is kind of irritating
Take Professor Sumner by all means. His instructions are clear and easy to follow. His grading system is fair, and if you complete assignments and attend class, you will learn a lot and get a good grade. The work is time consuming, but the knowledge gained is worth it. I love the professor.
Taught absolutely nothing...spent more time learning about life lessons and about his grandchildren then we actually did about the actual course. He LOVES when people call his house which is kinda creepy..overrall he sucks at teaching..
He was an awful professor. He didn't teach you anything from the book, and you had to learn everything on your own. I e-mailed him for help, but his answers just left me more confused than ever. He is not an understanding person, and doesn't care about you. He gets off topic all the time and talks about things no one else cares about.
Professor Sumner is a very nice guy and very understanding. He seems to grade fairly, as long as you do the work and show up to class on time. However, sometimes he will go off on tangents about the latest news and classwork may be overlooked. It is important to have your textbooks with you, because the whole class revolves around that. Be prepared
Prof Sumner has an obvious knowledge of teh material and does go off topic often, however the discussions are teh best part of the class. Interested in learning a little about life, take this class, you'll pick up some computer information as well.
Alright professor i guess. He tends to go off topic which annoys me. He spends time talking about his family as if i give a rat's a** and you pretty much teach yourself through the textbooks you buy. Your paying a lot of money to teach yourself but in the end he is 'okay' but not great.
Horrible professor. He is a nice guy but doesn't teach. Teaches one day a week and expects our schedules to be as empty as his. Gives way too much hw and expects us to teach ourselves. I do not recommend taking this class to anyone.
He's a sweet man, but a horrible teacher. He. Never. Gets. To. The. Point. He expects everyone to remember what he says verbatim because he hates repeating himself. He's helpful if you feel like listening to all the stuff he says in between the information that's actually useful. Just go to the tutoring center if you're stuck.
dont really need to go to class as long as you do the work. BUT he changes the work/what he wants you do to do almost every class he will say something different. in my class NO ONE EVER KNEW WHAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO DO/WHAT WAS GOING ON. he is very UNCLEAR. least favorite class i've ever taken. very confusing.
easy A !!! dont know what everyone is complaining about i handed all my work in late and got a B+ cute old man who cant teach for the life of him, ends class early, takes attendance but you can leave right after and overall everything he says in class does not apply to the work, i would def take him again!
Absolute worst professor I have ever had. assignments are incredibly unclear and he makes it impossible to know what is expected of you.
This class is terrible! It's extraordinarily stressful and all he does is rant on about life lessons. At first it was okay, but after a while it got old. He gives a ton of work but does not give any vivid instructions on what we need to do. It's not fair that Pace keeps him. It's just not right.
At first, class seemed easy and a lot of work need to be done at your own time through blackboard. Later, i realized that this professor doesn't even explain anything and coming to class is completely pointless because you can do everything at home. No help at all, although the professor is nice but he can't teach, i used books to teach myself.
For those complaining about having to teach the class to yourself, I found the class In general that way and had no problems. Nice guy, has a tendency to sort of teach by his own rules, such as not posting html files and alice files onto blackboard, needing 3 discussion board posts for full credit, etc. if you listen and work through books, you'll be fine
He is the sweetest old man but probably the worst teacher I've ever had. You will have to teach yourself the entire course and do a ton of completely unnecessary work. Class is pointless except to get attendance points because he lectures about life lessons that are often extremely tangential and have nothing to do with the subject matter.
the absolutely worst professor I have ever had. if you get assigned him as your professor, DROP THE CLASS. he is a burden on pace and on society, he has done nothing but waste my time and money. I learned nothing from him, except how useful the tutoring center is. he doesn't even know the basics of excel. sad excuse for a professor.
Unless you're fine with teaching yourself Microsoft Excel, HTML, and JavaScript, I do not recommend taking this class. He's a really sweet man and he has good intentions, but the only time I opened Excel in the classroom was the day of the Excel final. Every week our homework was a discussion board post, an Excel file, and a two page paper.
If you get sumber please run for the hills. Even though he is a nice man, he doesnt know how to teach! We are always off topic! We talked about feminism in COMPUTING CLASS and he never explains anything. Everything is a mess with him and his class.
This entire course is online but you still need to show up b/c you get a grade on it. Sumner isn't terrible, he just gives a lot of life lessons in class and tries to tie things that don't have anything do to with the course into it. He's a sweet old man but honestly, you're teaching yourself the whole course anyway. Just show up & pretend to care.

Sumner doesn't really know how to teach and most of it is self-taught. If I wasn't already able to program in HTML and use Excel proficiently, I probably wouldn't have gotten a decent grade because while he's an easy grader, he doesn't set you up to succeed. He goes off in tangents in class about everything from responsibility to feminism.
