he is a funny ****ed man, his tests are essay and HARD...his lectures are fun
Hard teacher.
His test are essay. I hope that you are a good essay writter.. Good Luck!!!
If you miss a day of class he hassles you about it in front of the whole class.
really amazing professor. teaches very well. and is very competent with subject
very hard prof. i wouldnt recommend
very hard test!!!!! alright discussion
Good teacher, Funny, interesting. Hard tests, but if you're up for a challenge..
you'd better study hard; he's cynical but funny; discussions great
Grades hard on tests, great discusions, I studied ALOT made bad grade
he's hard, but he's also a really good teacher and the class is not impossible
VERY HARD!
Great Teacher, but hard. Makes an 8:00 hst fun. be prepared to study
He is a horrible teacher!

Tough, but great professor, gives you everything you need to know.
Awesome man from the great state of OHIO! hard test great class
He teaches great because he knows his stuff. But the tests are HARD...study!!!

He's a good story teller but his tests are hard. You must show up to class or have someone take good notes for you.
worst teacher I ever had!! He needs to be fired.
yeah he might be a great teacher and likes to pick on people but he is not EASY.. You have to study and I mean study just to pass.. Good Luck!!
He's a great guy his tests are hard ya just gotta study and go to class. He isn't all that bad. If you aren't an essay person then don't take him
He explains the material but his 1 question essay test is usually over some innane crap that no one cares about.
study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!study!
This dork must've been picked on a lot in high school. He is now taking it out on his students. Lectures are good, but tests are hard. All essay about some esoteric point in history.
his lectures are interesting, but his tests are VERY hard and you have to read the book
Hardest teacher, dont take him early in the morning, after about 2 cups of coffee he is on a roll and will not stop until everyone see things his way!!!
The most I ever learned about history, but also one of the worst grades I ever got in a history course. Take him if you really want to learn, because you will, but realize his tests are extremely difficult.
Worst professor that I have ever had. He is so hard and wants such a detailed essay. He is also very inconsistent with his grading. He thinks freshman should fail a class as a learning experience. He's the devil.
He is a really goo teacher but his test are extremely hard. Just make sure to show up for class and study alot!!
very good teacher show up every day to be able to pass and study a lot tests hard essaybut he covers everything
he is an awsome guy if you give him the chance...the test arnt that hard if you study...dont be lazy. just show up every day and listen..he really knows what he is talking about!
he is alright his test are hard and i think he ask alittle to much for some people.
His tests are EXTREMELY hard! There are 12 chapters and 300 pages of books to read for only 2 essay questions on your tests! Lectures are fun, but tests are HARD and there are only 3!!!
nice guy who knows what he is talking about.he will help you anytime.however his tests are killers.but if you are on the ball and study from day one then you will be ok.you must have determination and will power to stay focused. ~Pamela wilkinson~
Dr. Taafee is a very interesting person. Aside from his social crudeness and his racial presuppositions, he's a great teacher. Anyone who thinks different is a slacker. True students like professors like Taffe.
He's not an easy professor. He expects a lot out of his students and, for the most part, receives it in one way or another. He's an excellent teacher...and for some reason I think he's kinda cute.
Great teacher, very helpful. Wonderful at remembering names and making students feel as though their thoughts matter...which helps them learn. I learned a lot from Taaffe. Even if we fought most the time. He's cute when he's mad.
Quite possibly the most difficult professor in the school that can teach well. You are going to learn a ton in his classes, but he grades tough and you really have KNOW YOUR STUFF to pass. Not a lot of busy work, just a lot of studying
HORRIBLE!!! Extremely hard class, tests are all essay and he is a very hard grader. Will give 4 pages of notes a day and pick ONE question to test you over from 3 weeks of notes. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!
He is a very good teacher, but gives a ton of notes. His class is really hard, all essay test. I would take him again.
I'll give you three reasons to take Dr. Taaffe(you'll understand the humor if you take him): 1. teaches you to study for an all essay exam; 2. you will learn ALOT of history; 3.his "discussions" will teach you how to think on your toes
He is very thorough in his knowledge of history and expects you to be as well, once you have come to class and taken the notes. I loved his humor and somehow, managed to make an A in his class... and it is the ONLY class at SFA that I really worked in.
he's funny only because he thinks he is...the notes suck sometimes but not too bad, the tests are where he gets you essays blow
He is a very crude man..he will call you out in front of the whole class and make fun of you if you don't know the answer to his question! His tests are all ESSAY and they are very very HARD! Be prepared if you take him!
HORRIBLE!! Tests are all essay. Gives you a ton of notes over SRERAL periods/chapters, no review in the smallest form, test are redicoulously hard. loves to talk about his KKK ring. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
He gives nothing but notes and his tests are all essay. However, he does not tell you what to study. He expects you to know everything and grades hard. Do not take his class!
He is an amazing professor. This is college everyone...classes are supposed to be challenging. I took him the first time and made a B, second time made an A. His class is fun and you learn alot- laugh a lot too. If you're good at essays take the class. You can get a great experience in this class.
Very funny teacher. Grades very hard but the notes are really good. All essay exam with no review. Good teacher but if you're not good at essays, don't take him.
AHHHH High school geek returns for his cruel revenge!!!! Runaway!! all essay exams but i made B's on them and I work my butt off for them. Funny teacher tells a joke before every class.
He's a good teacher, but his tests(all essays) are impossible to pass unless you are a genius in history. He is funny and intelligent, but we never reviewed for tests. He gives you 2 pages worth of notes everyday and expects you to know all of them plus the text. I made a D and I read and studied.
aahhh...his tests are one question tests...pass or fail...and you have to know EVERYTHING...i would not take this class if i were you...i made a D...and worked my butt off!
donot take this man!!! two essay tests and a final, which is an essay. Grades very hard and not helpful at all.
STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is a great teacher, but be prepared because he gives all essay tests. If you don't study you won't pass so start learning good study habits NOW!!!!!!!
HARD CLASS! He is entertaining and gives you everything you need to know though. However, there is a lot you need to know to be prepared for the essay tests. Didn't mind taking the notes, it was the tests that stressed me out. He is a nice guy, but likes to pick on people which makes the class funny
knows his stuff...very organized and awesome set-up...not very simpathetic towards emergencies...dont let ur mother have anything happen to her or ull get a w/f...even if u werent failing!...made a two a d on one paper and two c's on the first two tests...how that equals below a 60 i have no clue
very intelligent professor. tests are all essay and very difficult you have to be able to write very well and organized papers. gives great lectures so take lots of notes. has discussions over the notes that help you to remember info. very fair, not sympathetic at all. make note cards early on.
Super difficult, says he wants to help but just slams you and says you arent working hard enough. I got a D for 134 with Taaffe, im taking a different prof for 133 and ive got a B. You decide from that if you should take him or not.
He is the hardest grader in the department. If that is what he wants to be remembered for he has been successful.
This class is so hard. You can study all the way from Friday to the next Friday and you can still fail the class. I studied really hard on one test and I made an "F" If you don't study then you won't pass the test. He is a very silly guy. He always tells a corny joke before class. It's horrible. Run
Do not take him. Tons of notes. If you study every night a week before the test you can get a B. But otherwise you'll probabaly fail. Also not leniant with absceces.
He is a great teacher but has the hardest test in the world. Do not take him. I made an A in history in summer school and didnt really study and i study for him all the time and got an F.
Goes through outline on all lectures, essay tests and thinks that His Class should take presidence over everything even if you are still in high school playing sports. Told me to choose either high school baseball or his class.
he knows his info. give lots of notes but the notes are clear. his test are essay and he grades very hard he also grades the two papers very hard. he is silly but he thinks that he knows everything. he will talk bad about you in class he rarely finds stundents he likes. do not take him if you don't have to.
great teacher. hard tests. you better be ready to learn and STUDY
This man is amazingly funny and knows too much for his own good. His tests and classes are hard, but great to take.
Great teacher, fun to listen too, but extremely hard class. Take it from me, I had a 4.0, now I don't. Do not take him if you can avoid it.
5 Words DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! The man is very, very, hell extremely hard emphasis on extreme! He is funny and and has a funny personality but when is comes to grading papers and Test you might as well dye your paper in red ink because he will. The class is interesteng and topics interesting but he talks a little fast. But STAY AWAY!!!!
this teach is SO HARD! he is hilarious and knows a lot....but his tests are TERRIBLE and he requires TONS of detail. if you're good at history, take him. if not, don't even think about it!
funny guy
AWESOME TEACHER! he really made history interesting. Be prepared to study...this is a college class so it will be hard but he is very good! There is always an essay question from the lecture so you don't have to read the book.
Very well organized. Tests require lots of memorization, but you have all of the material needed. Doesn't use a text book. Hilarious anecdotes before every class offer incentive to be on time. Love that he addresses everyone by their last name. Really tries to get to know all students.
this guy is horrible he thinks just cause he doctored in history everyone else should. his tests are incredibly hard do not take him. class started with 30 people and ended with 11 and half of them failed. dont take him.
Do not take Professor Taaffe if you're not planning on studying!! You will not pass if you're not willing to do work outside of class. He grades hard, but it fair. His test are very straight forward. All you have to do is write an essay over the information he's explained and gone over in in-class discussions.
Taafe is one of the most difficult profs I've ever encountered. He's sarcastic and demanding, but he's one of the best. He knows what he's talking about and will help anyone out. Take advantage of office hours! He encourages to visit . You just have to get over how intimidating he can be. It's mostly an act to see who is serious about the class!
His tests: He picks 2 lectures from the unit and gives you the choice of 2 essays one from each lecture, and you have to use like all the key terms from the lecture. I used like 14 key terms one of my essays that was only like 1 1/2 pgs, and he gave me a 60 bc it was long enough but not specific enough. He made this guy almost cry once too.
Class was well structured lectures were informative and fun. Jokes and stories lighten the class. overall a fun and interesting class. He knows his material well, and grades are fair.
The lectures he gives are very funny and easy to understand. His tests are ridiculously hard. They are essay tests and you have to remember exact terms, names, and defintions from about ten lectures worth plus what's in the book.
great professor. hard tests study hard for all of them.
IF YOU'RE NO GOOD AT WRITING ESSAYS IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, DO NOT TAKE HIM. spit back every detail and dont mix up situations. he does not do multiple choice or short answer. essay only. no daily work either. in the discussions, be sure to back up whatever you say using relevant evidence.
Study!!! He's nice, but his tests are hard & he's a hard grader! Be prepared!
Took him for 133/134 - made an A in both. He's a great teacher, but don't think about taking him unless your seriously going to take detailed notes and study. Like everyone else says his tests are essays, and if you do average work don't expect to do any better than a C in the class.
the tests are friggen hard, do not underestimate!
Is it so bad to actually learn something or work for something in college? Very hard teacher, but I've been out of school for 4 years and he's one of the only ones I remember with fondness. This is a great man and great teacher.
Fun class just the hard essay question test and plus he is a hard grader
hard class because hi test essay questions.he is a hard grader. fun teacher but seriously have to study. good sense of humor
All the people writing theses reviews are delirious or history dorks. Everyday he shares some random story about how he was such a loser in high school and his voice is super annoying! His lectures were clear cut and easy BUT his tests were ALL ESSAY and he grades like THE DEVIL! Do not take unless you are totally into history! SERIOUSLY!
Dr.Taffe keeps his students on their toes. Don't think you can sleep in his class(or text). He obviously, loves the subject and makes it interesting. TAKE NOTES,you will need them for the essay tests.
Great teacher hard essay test
I loved this guy. Quite possibly my favorite class ever. But hey, I got an A. Not gonna lie it was a little difficult. Very crude humor and very odd, so i think we got along well
Dr. Taaafee is one of my favorite teacher at SFA! Along with Dr. Sosebee...Taafee's notes are clear, concise, and STRAIGHT to the point! Attend his class! You will need good notes in order to pass! Will take him again!
oops! Meant to put he was very helpful! that is my rating below
He is an awesome teacher. His notes are straight to the point and crystal clear. Prepare to take A LOT of notes in class. He is very funny and he tells a story before each lecture. Prepare to be very opinionated though. Exams are EXTREMELY HARD essays so make sure you REALLY study. Overall he is a great teacher that really knows his history. :)
Great Teacher, has a joke for every day. Test are hard, but if you go to SI, and make an effort in the discussions he will give you "some" help lol.
If you have a choice don't take him. you will learn a lot but your grade will not reflect it. three tests all essays, with around 12-15 vocab words needed.
His test are difficult but if you study it makes them easier. He is an amazing teacher and he brings even the boring parts of history to life
Definitely one of the best history teachers I have had, he's notes are clear and guided, and he is super interesting and a lot of fun. His tests are essays and you have to study pretty hard, but if you like to learn and will appreciate a wonderful teacher take him.
Proffesor Taaffe is a really good teacher. He has jokes and funny stories to tell you every class. To pass this class you do need to attend everyday and take really good notes. The only hard thing about his class are his tests; they are in essay form, but if you study a little everyday and go to SI you will pass. Trust me!
Dr. Taafe is super funny and very smart. I enjoyed going to his class to get "yelled at". However, there were only 3 tests including the final and they were written essays. He grades very hard and openly admits it. So, if you are not a good writer, and do not enjoy reading, take Catton, Dr. Taafe's arch nemesis.
Dr taffee is a very smart teacher and hes pretty funny but his test are very hard. theres only 3 test and you have to know 10-12 lectures inside and out i studied for 20 hours and got a 90 but i did enjoy the discussions
He is pretty funny but super tough. I took his class in the summer, so it was really fast paced. I studied 2-3 hours a day and barely got a B. Oh yeah, be prepared to take notes the whole class period. His class is not to be taken lightly.
His tests are two broad essay questions where you choose one. He grades really hard, and make ups are at 6:30 am.
ESSAY TEST!!! He grades the test VERY hard, and will even tell you that himself. Avoid if possible!
Taaffe is a great profesor. He is very hard on grading and tells you so upfront. You have to take notes to pass his class but it is very easy to take notes. He tells a story at the beginning of each class. The discussions are fun but he takes you words and twists them. And he gets super embarrassed when anything about sex is mentioned.
His class is hard. The test are two very broad essay questions and cover 10-11 sections of notes that you have to memorized. I had to study A LOT. He is a pretty cool teacher, be prepared to always take notes though. If you are looking for an easy class this is not it.
he's a good person and a good professor, but takes the tests really seriously and the two essay questions are very broad so you have to know his lectures inside and out.
Dr. Taaffe is one of the best professors at SFA. He is funny and extremely smart. He has essay style tests that are very difficult and he usually assigns two papers throughout the term over books. He has discussion days which make the class fun and help you study. He is extremely sarcastic and he knows it. Great professor, but take him serious
good teacher , but very hard.
Very hard class. Essay tests where you have two options to pick between that cover one lecture. You have to have almost every detail memorized to pull an A. I enjoyed his class but it was without doubt very challenging
I read all the reviews before I took this class and I honestly thought I was going to fail, but I studied my butt off (made two A's on the first two tests and a B+ on the last test) and made a 92 as my final grade. So, in conclusion you will enojoy this class if you study. And Dr. Taaffe is off da hook!OH! and I'm a junior in High School..
He is a wonderful professor but you have to be prepared to commit to studying for this class. He has discussion days which are helpful and he is very sarcastic and funny. Great class but be prepared!
Don't take him if you have a learnjng disability. He grades Hard and every essay I wrote, i made a 30 or 40 (even with giving the right answers). I don't know what he wanted from me. This class just ripped me a new one.
Study, study, study your lecture notes. The class is all lecture, I never once used a book. But go to class and STUDY. He's a character, and he's a good teacher.
STUDY. Taafe's a sarcastic one, but his essay tests are no joke. Wanna pass? Memorize lectures until you can regurgitate information depending on the prompt. Pay attention to the length of the notes in order to eliminate which one he'll use! I took his high school dual credit class & made a 87, 92, 97 for a 92 in the class. (He rewards improvement)
This guy can teach. He gives the information clearly, but his tests are brutal. If you do not know the lectures inside and out you will fail. Great teacher but his tests are serious!! He does give optional exams, but if you fail them too it hurts your grade more.
Taafe is a great teacher!! I liked his notes, they were clear and easy to understands. Tests are hard, but if you study his lectures you will do well. I learned a lot from his class
Taaffe is a really nice teacher whose lectures are very clear but his tests are killer. DO NOT take him unless you are a great student. His tests are long essays which would be fine but he grades extremely hard. You've been warned.
Taaffe is literally a great professor and he really knows his stuff. His lectures are long and he only gives bullet points, no powerpoints so you really have to be listening. He has frequent discussions that will help you. I wish I could take him again because he is such a great professor but the test are just too hard. It can be done though.
He grades really hard but that doesn't mean the note are hard he is very good at telling you what you need to know for the test and he gives you an option on the prompt you need to use and If you study you have a high chance if you don't no way in the world you can pass.
GREAT professor. Have taken him twice. One, he's so funny and he makes history fun to go to. He makes even boring lectures as interesting as possible. Two, HEED HIS WARNINGS about studying for the tests in advance. You MUST study for at least a week before. Three, go as much as possible. Trying to copy someone else's notes is a pain in the ass.
He' a big stickler and pretty offensive when he speaks to you. However, he really knows his stuff, and his lectures are easy to follow (as long as you're paying attention). He has only 3 tests, all free response. Make sure you read over your notes a while before the test and know the vocabulary and significant people in history he mentions.
Good professor. Explains the lecture pretty well, and I actually learned in his class because he makes the lectures very straight-forward. The only problem is that he grades extremely hard, no way I could pass his class because you don't know what exactly to expect on the test. Tests are difficult, but overall the class is interesting and fun.
He is a great professor! He is clear and gets straight to the point. You have to take great notes in order to study them for the test. There are 3 essays. He is a hard grader, but if you study a week before then you'll do fine. I personally would recommend him.
I'll say this first and foremost, if you are taking him for an upper level history course then it won't be a walk in the park. He's a fare grader but demands alot out of you. I personally found the exams rather easy but you need to put in time to study cause it will just be one long essay question. Side Note, super funny very entertaining guy.
I absolutely hated Dr. Taaffe. He's rude, condescending, and makes fun of his students. I'd always consider skipping class on discussion days because he always left me wanting to cry. Other than that, he's a great proffessor. He makes you think about every side to an argument and is passionate about history. Don't take if you're easily offended.
Lectures are long, but are clear cut. Write down EVERYTHING he says unless he states other wise. if you know a test is coming up, give your self a week to study because you have to know every detail from each lecture. The hardest thing about the class is the amount of material you have to know. The test are all essay but are straight forward.
Taffe is cool if you aren't scared of him. Go to class and actually participate in his class discussions. Write down lectures WORD FOR WORD as he says them. His tests are hard and require an extreme amount of studying. But if you go to class and go to his office hours, he will notice you're making and effort, and he will help you out if you ask!
Dr. Taaffe is a really good teacher. My only downfall to his class was his tests. There was 3 (including final exam), and it's completely essay. If you truly put time and effort into studying the notes that he gives you in class, you'll do good. He's super funny and sarcastic, which makes history a lot less boring. He's pretty great.
He is a very hard teacher. His class is all lectures and a few discussion days. There attests including the final and they are immeasurably hard. Give yourself two weeks or more to study for his tests. There are usually 15-20 topics on the review plus a few chapters from the book and he only puts two topics on the exam. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!!
He is quirky, but he tells funny stories. He isn't as bad as people make him out to be! If you write down his lectures word for word and study weeks before an exam, you should be fine. There are only three exams the entire semester including the final, so they cover 10-13 lectures. This isn't an easy class; don't take if you're not willing to study
I absolutely loved this class. Dr. Taaffe does have high standards with grading so dont expect to do stuff the night before and do very well. He is very clear about what he wants in his papers though. For his test you just have to study the lectures hard! Overall loved this class and he was an awesome professor to have, but definitely have to work.
His a great professor. Really tough class and heavy lectures, but very clear on what he expects. Gives optional test which saved my grade. Don't take if you are not a study person.
I love Dr. Taaffe's class! You have to take very good notes during his lectures, but as long as you write down everything he tells you to, you should be fine. He really knows what he's talking about and makes history really interesting.
Professor Taaffe is absolutely fantastic in class. He really cares about American History and provides fantastically presented lectures. But if you don't study your notes and read the book, you WILL fail. There are 3 exams, along with 2 optional exams (not extra credit, just extra exams to pad the grade). Taaffe is fantastic, but if you must study
I enjoyed his class, but if you are bad at writing essays, DON'T take him. He gives a total of 3 mandatory tests, and 2 optional ones. We study 1 subject per class, and the test is only an essay over 1 of the subjects he lectures about. He doesn't tell you which one, and he's not afraid to give you a 20% if you don't give enough information on it.
Dr. Taaffe was an awesome history professor! I never missed a class because his lectures were so funny and interesting! This class wasn't that hard but if you are bad at dates and names, I wouldn't recommend this course. Also, if you are not good at writing essays, you should also avoid this course. Overall great instructor!
You will only be graded on tests. The tests will all be essays. You will not know the prompt until test day, youll be able to choose from 2 or 3. You must go entirely in-depth, you have to really know your stuff. So I would use the book, which is what I didnt do last time. Write down everything he says. But his lectures are great!
Respected for his intellect, not for the non-history major, smart and interesting
Memorize every single word this man has ever said, and you might just pass with a C. I'd like to think I'm studious and focused. I studied for 14 hours straight before the first exam, I knew every thing he'd gone over so far. He failed me because he "didn't like the way I phrased things." Don't do this to yourself.
I LOVED going to this class everyday and honestly looked forward to it. He is very funny and really makes it worth going to your 8 AM. If you aren't an essay person don't take him. GO TO CLASS! I made the highest grades on the test and had a B in the class but received an F because of attendance. He really doesn't mess around with attendance.
Taaffe is an acquired taste. He is interesting and starts each class with a personal story, and real. I did well on his exams, high B or low A, but his essays are unreal. He expects perfection in grammar, clarity, and word usage. He outright said that the use of the passive voice would get a large grade cut, I received a 50 on that paper.
The discussions are amazing if you have a good class. He expects you to read the textbook on your own time but rarely gives test questions about it, and if he does there should be another question about an in class lecture. STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY STUDY
MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR! His lectures are AMAZING!! He made me consider minoring in history because I loved his class. If you don't take good notes, study and go to class don't take his class. But if you love history, are a good note taker and study a lot TAKE HIM!! You will not regret it. Always went to his office hours just to chat with him.
Taaffe made me want to rethink being a history major on multiple occasions. The lectures aren't that bad, but he treats the class was if it's the only one you're taking during the semester. The tests are also a bit unrealistic, a whole essay written in 50 minutes. Grading tough isn't something that he should take pride in either, it's intimidating.
There are only three grades in the gradebook, two tests and the final. All are written in essay form but he gives you 12 prompts to look over that are based off your notes, so no surprises . You NEED to show up to class because he spends one day on one topic and that's it. Know your notes by heart and you might get a B in the class.
Your only grade is 3 exams and 1 optional exam. Also, the exams are only essays, there are no multiple choice exams.
This class is set up to where you only lecture in class. There are 3 essays for tests, but it is extremely difficult. I do not recommend this class unless you are a history major who enjoys pain and suffering. He is a funny guy though.
Dr. Taaffes tests are hard for his1301, and if you dont put in the work, you wont pass. However, I guarantee you that any 1301 HIS professor wont teach you as well as Dr. Taaffe. I throughly enjoyed his class; just wished I couldve gotten a better grade. Again, it all depends on your effort. He also gives good feedback. Go to his office hours.
he is a great teacher, study key terms, test are hard but if you study hard you should past, he made history fun
He's a great professor because he makes history fun; however, you really do have to attend class in order to get all the notes for his tests. He does 3 essay exams and he gives you a list of 10 prompts a week and a half before, but will only choose one. Long story short you absolutely have to put in work to pass.
Dr. Taaffe's 1301 class is all lectures and his tests are based solely on the lectures. Each test is 1 essay prompt where you are basically asked to regurgitate the entire lecture pertaining to the given prompt, but you are given 2 weeks to prepare for the tests and they are very straight forward. Dr. Taaffe's "discussions" are also extremly fun.
Great Professor, Difficult class.
Dr. Taaffe is a really good professor imo. His lectures are easy to follow, and he quite literally tells you what to write down. His test are only written and it sounds pretty difficult but honestly, I think that if you show up and take good notes its fine. But its definitely not easy. Dont skip or you will literally be so lost.
Professor Taaffe's lectures are straightforward, and his tests are all written - just show up, take good notes, and you'll be fine. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for prep alongside the textbook.
Dr. Taaffe is scary at first but is actually a really interesting guy. He expects a lot of you but it is definitely manageable if you take notes and study you'll do good enough. His discussions are fun and he's funny. Don't take this class if you can't take notes while someone is talking quickly though.
I thought he was fantastic. His classes are really hard but he's a wonderful professor. He gives three essay exams and those are the only grades you receive throughout the semester. Make sure you study really hard and go to his office hours to ask questions/help. I went from a 78 to a 90 in his class so just work hard and you'll be okay!:)
