HE IS A GREAT TEACHER. I LOVED HIS CLASS. I TOOK A SATURDAY MORNING CLASS, WHICH WAS 3 HOURS LONG AND I ENJOYED IT. HE IS A VERY EASY TEACHER AS LONG AS YOU DO ALL THE WORK AND PAY ATTENTION.

He's one of the best teachers u can find. For a saturday morning class, i wouldnt trade this class for the world. i loved his class and i already made four of my friends sign up for this class for next semester.

fun class, not too much work, just make sure you do the speeches and have the guidelines and you will get a decent grade... Stay away from these two words CIVIC PROJECT....YIkes!

I really enjoyed his summer class. I dreaded the amount of work due to my class load, but I really learned so much about how I communincate and I would recommend him to anyone taking speech who truly wants to learn and not just get by!

Nice guy, kind of differnt. quizes are hard, make sure you read. it was my first summer school class and much less stressful than i thought. no real research or anything involved. speeches basically about yourself. one of those teachers you'll find yourself visiting after youve completed class. I love this class!!! We only have to give 3 major speeches and he gives us lots of time to work on them. he's totally laid back and makes the classroom environment very open and fun. IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPEECH, YOU WILL LOVE THIS CLASS!!! TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!!!!!

Mr. T is an awesome teacher! He only has you do 3 speeches, and if you attend class and do the extra credit, you'll pass with flying colors. A very cool teacher who's well-organized and makes learning easy and fun. Even if you hate speech (like I did), Mr. T is the way to go!

Take his class!!! So far he's my favorite teacher at COD! A really nice funny, all around good guy. As far as the class...EASY EASY EASY! You'll have to do a quote/joke in front of the class and get graded on it. Then the first real speech- pretty much as long as you stand up and say anything you should get at least a B. lots of extra credit!

Mr. T is very helpful and funny. He expects you to show up, practice your speeches, and do well. About 3-4 speeches. Laid back, as long as you do what he asks you, you're in good shape. If you're planning on slacking off and making it a joke, take someone else.

Mr.T is an AWSOME professor. I recommended him to everyone I know. He makes the class really fun, I wouldn't call him easy though. You have to show up, on time and get your work done, but he is amazing and he tells really funny stories to help you learn!

He was my first communications teacher and was fantastic. He makes it easy to talk in front of people. He isn't the easiest teacher, but his grading really helps you out later. Attendance is mandatory and I would highly advise preping for all the speeches. I am taking another one of his classes this semester, knowing he will be just as awesome.

Mr. T is the bomb! My favorite teacher ever by far! If you plan on skipping class a lot and slacking off, do not take him. Be on time, prepared and awake! He makes class fun and unlike any other speech class. It might not be too easy but you will truly enjoy having him as a teacher! highly recommend him and Im taking him again next semester! :)

Mr. T is a great teacher, is really helpful and there for you whenever you need anything! He may be a hard grader but he made it a fun working enviornment for everyone! He does have extra credit at the end of the semester so if your behind you can catch up. SPEECH IS NOT MY THING, I get nervous a lot, but he's a gret teacher and very helpful

Mr. T is one of the most personable teachers I have ever had. He actually wants to get to know you, and goes out of his way to help if you have any questions. He clearly loves his job. I would recommend staying on his good side by attending and participating, and you will have nothing to lose. Relax atmosphere, tough grader.

mr.t was so fun! whenever he was teaching us something, he would always have a funny story to go along and it makes you remember easier. the only tough part is when you are giving a speech and the camera is right infront of you, but i am a terrible speaker, and i got A's on my speechs. as long as you are prepared. TAKE HIM!!

Great guy and a great class. He really goes out of his way to put students at ease and make public speaking, a terrifying experience for some, as comfortable as possible. I really got a lot out of this class.

If you've been avoiding speech class like the plague, THIS is the one to take. Mr. T's speech assignments are a lot more personalized then the generic ones I thought we'd have to do. Quizzes are easy if you are present for lecture and he's not boring to listen to! I couldn't have had a better experience. I definitely recommend him as a teacher.

If you hate Speech, take Mr. T. There is only 3 speeches and he makes everyone feel super comfortable. He tells jokes all the time that make the class pass faster. Dont get on his bad side, he can be a jerk. He grades a little tough as well. As long as you show up, study and do ok on the speeches you will pass with a B.

very easy teacher just do 3 speches and show up take notes and your gud. quizes and tests but a very easy class

If you do the work and show up...not late, you will do just fine. a lot of quizzes that are simple if you read. you need the book. there is a final. with our class he had some attitude problems. just got to rub him the right way. otherwise get ready for some major issues.

TAKE HIM! He is very helpful and wants you to get a good grade. Show up to class and be on time. He offers extra credit. I got a B on all my speeches and still got an A in the class! TAKE HIM! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! He always tells funny stories and jokes. Very friendly enviortment. Also very flexible! TAKE PROFESSOR THOMPSON!

Mr. T was pretty cool. Lots of interesting and funny stories to help you understand concepts. Pretty laid back for the most part but does grade speeches seriously. Wants everyone to finish the class thinking it wasn't that bad. I don't get where he's getting all these "hot" ratings though...? :)

Mr. T is awesome. Attendance is mandatory but it is worth it. He is hilarious and makes Speech class extremely interesting. His real life examples really help make the class enjoyable. He will make you feel extremely comfortable about giving speeches. Do not get on his bad side and come to class and you will love it!

I thought the lectures would be dull and boring but his stories made the class very enjoyable. Attend class regularly, read the textbook, and at the end you will come out saying it wasn't that bad. I highly recommend Mr. T unless you have a problem with profanity!

He is a great teacher. His lectures are aren't boring and he keeps the class fun. He teaches what he needs to but his stories help keep the info in your brain. do what needs to be done and you'll get along great w him. the speech topics are also interesting and he is truly there to help you with whatever you need. great teacher!

Take him,I hated public speaking more than anything now i dont have a problem with it. 6 speeches, 3mandatory to pass the class, 3non-mandatory. Overall not to bad of topics for speeches. No real hw except reading the chapters(about10pages each)&preparing the speeches. We had 2 quizes, scheduled for 4, one final(not to bad if went to class).

I took this class over the summer, which was awesome because some speeches were cut out. Prof T is hilarious; he is most likely the best speech teacher @ COD. This was the hardest, easiest class I have ever had. He doesn't require a lot of work from you but he has high expectations of the little he does ask. If you ask him to help you hammer out the speeches, he always will. His basis is on quality not quantity.

I took Mr. T's class a couple of semesters ago. It was my favorite class. Before taking the class I was nervous about speaking, however, after the first week I was hooked. Mr T is ridiculously hilarious and kind of sexy as well ;-) I would voluntarily take another class that he taught.

Very fun, laid back professor. If you're fearful of public speaking, or just want to take the least stressful path to completing this course, he is your dream come true. Tons of points for easy assignments or just showing up, plus extra credit available. I gave some crap speeches and still got an A, so it's not true that he is a harsh grader.

I loved him, his class was so much fun! I feared giving speeches but after his class, I am not so fearful. Received a lot of information in 8 weeks.

Mr T was really good teacher. He's a great guy and has really funny stories to tell. You only have 3 really important speeches and then the others (like 4) are just little fun ones that last like 2 minutes. Just prepare for your speeches, he gives you enough time. I ended with a 96% and I didn't stress alot over this class. I recommend him!

I absolutely hated any sort of public speaking before this class but this is a class I needed to take for a requirement. He helped me feel at ease about giving a speech. Keep up with the discussion boards and quizzes and you will be fine. I got a B but would of gotten an A with a little more effort on the quizzes and preparing for the speeches.

Great teacher! Easy, informative, and lots of fun! Take Thompson if you're not looking forward to speaking publicly, like me! He made me feel at ease. He swears A LOT! Just saying! He can get off topic lots of times. Overall, he's very funny and energetic! Just what I look for in a teacher.

I took the online speech class (3 days to come in and give the speech are mandatory). I was very uneasy about going into the class and with all the quizzes and assignments it is possible to do very well in the class even if you do poorly on the speech (he is a tough grader on speech performance).

I took the online course. Prof T makes you feel welcome and is straightforward. If you do the required work, put effort into it,you will do fine. Three required speeches that you must show up for. He makes you feel at ease and offers constructive criticism to help you improve. He responds quickly to emails and is very helpful.

thompson is the best teacher i ever had. he jokes around a lot and makes the class really interesting. we barely use the textbooks and we only had 3 real speeches (and 1 was a group presentation). he explains it very clearly so it was an easy A. take thompson if u wanna get a good grade and have fun at the same time.

Prof. T is an awesome teacher. He will teach you how to do a speech and still have a great time in his class. Its not an easy A so don't expect to blow this class off. He always tried to help his students with anything, whether its speech realated or not.I definitely recommend him to everyone. Not alot of people like speech but he makes it fun!

Thompson has got to be one of the best professor I had the pleasure of learning from. He is a great guy and his lessons often could seem off topic is essentially the topic material in class. He teaches you to learn out in life, that this isn't a class that you take and should forget. As long as you participate, you'll be fine. You won't regret it.

This is by far the best professor I have had throughout my COD experience. He helped me out a lot and is very down to earth. He has a great sense of humor and makes the speeches fun. I strongly suggest if you have the opportunity to take his class you should!

One of the best teachers I've ever had. I started out the class intending to blow it off as just another class I needed to transfer. He had no problem putting me in my place and staying on me to make sure I got the best grade I could. The work load is light and he's very into what he teaches. I'd take him again in a heartbeat!!!

Literally THE best teacher. He makes the class fun. I hated speeches, but after taking this class I totally can talk in front of a crowd and not be nervous. If you think you can bs this class, you're wrong. You have to put in work to pass. But it's easy. He made everyday feel like "another day in paradise" lol

Real funny guy and really nice. Always willing to meet with you durning office hours or even have a phone conversation with you if it works better. He has a lot of requirements for his speeches so be ready and start them early. Always go to class too and you'll be fine.

Great teacher! Really wants you to learn and improve! He does have quizzes along with 3 IAI speeches and an additional few speeches he adds to the class. Make sure you GO to class and you'll be fine. He is always offering office hours and will also help you with your class schedules too. Over-all fun teacher and very helpful!

He's hilarious! I've never had a teacher that made me WANT to go to class. I recommend him to everyone! You can tell he cares so much about his students. He has a few online quizzes which are open book and EASY As if you do them. The three main speeches are fun and include musical me, restaurant rant, and one informative speech. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED.

Prof. T is the funniest teacher I've ever had! I hate public speaking and was not looking forward to this class at all, but he made the class so fun that I actually was excited about going every day. Don't be fooled, although he's nice he is a tough grader. Pay attention to his rubrics!

I took this over the summer to get my speech class out of the way as quickly as possible. After the first day, I found myself actually looking forward to going to his class. He is absolutely wonderful! I never thought I would be so comfortable in a public speaking class. I wish that I had an excuse to take more of his classes.

3 big speeches and a couple of smaller speeches - not a big deal. EASY CLASS because he gives you sheets with what is in each speech. I did lots of extra credit. He doesn't like slackers at all or the people who are late to class. He is not afraid to call students out in class. Shares both funny and boring stories. Above average experience.

Mr.T is a great teacher and is passionate about his work. His class can be an easy A if students just put in the time in effort into making sure they hit all the requirements in the speeches that he assigns. He gives you feedback and is always willing to help. This class made me feel much more comfortable about speaking in front of others.

Mr. T is an awesome teacher!! He's not your normal uptight professor. He is fun, he makes the class enjoyable, and he wants his students to succeed. The class can be an easy A if students meet all of the requirements for each speech. Mr. T gives really good feedback after speeches. The class was fun and I learned a lot.

His syllabuses and rubrics are much more menacing that what the class really is. He is there to help you, he wants you to pass. I took it online, you have the option to give speeches in person on campus at a designated time (most likely at night), or record your speech per state requirements which was more work than just going.

Great Prof. If you follow the rubric and do what you are told you are most likely to pass the class. Plus he is super cool and creative with his class. I enjoyed showing up and participate to enjoy the class more.

I took his class online, 8 weeks. You can go to campus during allotted time for speeches, or record them. Not many people show for the speech. Lots of easy points, you get 75 EC points if you stay enrolled by midterm. What he expects is very very clear (yet some people still don't listen???), I am horrible at public speaking and got an A.

If you look at the sheet that he gives for every speech his grading criteria is everything he is looking for. I personally hate giving speeches, but he made it super easy.

I took 8 week class, so all the homework we got was online modules and writing speeches, its pretty straightforward. If you follow his criteria you will get a good grade. He hates it when you come late and text in class. But he tells great stories and gives everyone great feedback of their speeches at the end of class. Strongly recommend him!

Took him for speech 1100 this semester. Awesome teacher, no calss is every really boring. He provides you with every resource necessary to do well in his calss. He has a great personality and likes to joke around a lot too. It really was a joy to take. The speeches are not bad, it is mostly you just over reacting. Overall Great teacher and class

Prof. T is an awesome teacher! It's kinda of a hard class to deal with if you struggle with anxiety. He swears a lot and is very funny. I would recommend him to anyone.

Prof T. is a good teacher and is pretty flexible with accomodating students, I would take one of his classes again.

I really struggled at the beginning of this course and taking it online was a challenge as well. Prof. Thompson really helped me through everything. Every time I emailed him I always got a helpful response. I got discouraged half way through the semester, but I did my best and passed with a B. I highly recommend him if you have speaking anxiety.

He expects you to be responsible and pay attention to the details of his requirement sheets. Pay attention to all the details - I messed up an outline and lost points. He tries hard to help others succeed. I went in for a meeting in his office and found this very helpful. Students who spoke up got great treatment and those who skipped class didn't.

I wished the class was longer. Covered a lot in a short time in the 8 week class. Great class and very funny stories. Expected students to open up with more personal stories rather than boring random topics. Book was really cheap.

My first online class and it went well. He always responded quickly to my emails and I discovered the more I emailed him the better my scores got. While I needed clarification he must have thought I really cared. 3 major units, only 3 presentations - I did my TOTALLY online. Better than coming to class to speak to strangers!

Really clear expectations if you read the syllabus and follow the course schedule he provides. His online class has 3 units and the first one is the toughest - get past that and all is good. Fast feedback on questions, even if I didn't always like the answer.

Got my final speech feedback in 1 day! I got a horrible score in speech 1, but went to his office an got good feedback. Easy A's on last 2 speeches. Ask questions - he loves that! More flexible online class than any other I have ever taken. Got an A and I hate public speaking

If you show up to class, and complete the course work on time you will walk out with an A . He is very understanding, funny guy, who actually cares about his students. Attendance is required but I really didn't mind coming. I fear public speaking, but he made the class easy and comfortable! Highly recommend him to anyone who has to take speech.

If someone tells you not to take prof thompsons class, ignore them. He understands people get nervous with public speaking and he makes it fun. I highly recommend him. He's super funny and I looked forward to his class. I thought he was an easy grader and I could tell he really cares about each student. Can't say enough nice things about him!

As someone who had major anxiety and has a hard time giving public speeches, Thompson was understanding and wants you to excel at class. If you can keep up with his sass during class and give it your best he gives you credit for it. Your personality might clash with his, but he won't talk down to you or give you useless feedback

Professor Thompson is by far the best college professor I've had. He genuinely cares about his students and wants you to succeed. His goal for this class is to have you saying "it wasn't that bad". He really taught me how to become a stronger public speaker and to overcome my speaking anxiety.

Helpful, hilarious, and supportive. He's a big teddy bear. The only required "Talk Like TED" text was a great read, very helpful in performing speeches, and affordable. Surprisingly, he made it a fun/interesting class. I figured a speech class would be dry/boring, but he's so good a teacher that he made it worth the while. Highly recommended.

One of the best professors I've ever had at COD! Very outgoing and funny. Pretty laid back and very helpful. Class is only out of 30-ish points, so attendance is recommended so you don't miss anything. 7 speeches in total, gives great feedback.

I am extremely afraid of public speaking. Mr. Thompson made this class super enjoyable and comfortable. He made sure to stress that the class is a judgment free zone. I really enjoyed his lectures as well he kept them fun and interesting by integrating stories into each lesson. Attendance isn't mandatory but you get extra credit for attending class

I have a big fear of speaking in front of people so II took this class completely online and it worked well for me. Whenever I had questions, he responded quickly to emails and I usually got a response back within the hour. Make sure you carefully read the rubric because he is very clear on what he expects. Would take him again.

Took the class online and he had very clear expectations in syllabus that must be followed. He really stressed applying the book material into the speeches. If you give the three speeches there is no way to fail - he wants you to pass. Mr. Thompson was quick to respond to emails and directed me to the correct tabs in the course.

Prof. T cares about his students - wanted us all to pass! Each speech was personal and had to matter to us. This was the only class I looked forward to going to.

Professor T is AMAZING! Who ever wrote the comment below does not know what they are talking about. He cares about his students, he creates meaningful speeches, and has fun with teaching. He is a great professor and I would HIGHLY recommend to taking him for speech 1100!!!

This guys knows his stuff. Not a pretentious person and cares that each student is successful. He tells stories a lot and will not ever speak down to you. If only more professors could make the classroom more fun and relaxed like he does. Three clear personal speeches made this better than my HS speech class.

I tool two classes with him, Sports Comm and Basic Speech. He was a great teacher and cared about every student as an individual. He knows his stuff and isn't boring. I wish I could take more classes with him.

I took his fully-online class and he was still very helpful if needed. He always responded to emails in a timely manner. He makes videos of important announcements that he has and that is pretty helpful. If you take the fully online course, make sure you will have eight people to present to b/c it is not negotiable. I do recommend him to others.

I took his class this summer, just finished. Great teacher, interesting lectures, very helpful, always responds to your email. At first you might think he is a little strict, but he is a great person! I do recommend him to others.

Professor T is awesome. Really makes a difficult class, Speech, fun and interesting. He's more interested in your improvement during each speech than if you do all assigned work. Show up, be engaged, and improve yourself and this class is for you. Great Professor, would love to take more classes taught by him.

Prof. T is honest all the time. He is very clear. He cares. I was able to approach him both in and outside of the classroom. Most students never bothered to speak to him outside of class, but he was so helpful. If you show up to class, you find that he tells a ton of stories. Speech 2 and 3 grades get rounded up and this is helpful.

Prof T wanted us to succeed. He didn't care if we loved the subject matter or hated it, he just wanted us to get it done. Some very easy speeches during the term for completion credit. Three big speeches that required some work. No mid-term (loved this). I would take him for more classes if I needed more communication classes.

Super funny teacher who wants you to succeed! He answers all questions you have thoroughly and will give an extra point if you have perfect attendance so take advantage of it. He made class very fun each day and made you forget how early you were there for an 8 am.

Three big speeches required for every class, but he rounded up my score for 2nd and 3rd speech. He cares about everybody's story and voice which is different than my other professors. I didn't like the TED book but it was cheap. The class wasn't bad at all.

Both semesters at dupage Ive taken Mr. Thompson because he is such a great teacher. Its key to build a relationship with him and show him that you care about his class by showing up. 10/10 would recommend taking one of his classes. Fairly easy if you put in effort

Professor Thompson was a teacher that really cared about his class and what he does for a living. He is a great teacher that makes the class enjoyable for everyone. So relate able to everyone in class and works hard to change kid's perspectives on speeches and communication.

Stephen Thompson is one of the best professor's I've had. He is a genuine person who cares about his students and practices what he preaches. His assignments are both challenging and rewarding and he made this class a pleasure to take. Participation in this class has legitimately improved my communication skills.

Made going to summer school not terrible. Constantly in a good mood and always telling jokes. Has stories about any and everything that are actually funny and interesting. Didn't leave class one day without laughing at something. Gives clear guidelines on what he wants done and how he wants it done. Great Class.

Professor Thompson is one of the most back professors I've ever had. He's talkative, funny, and will care about what you do. He's really funny and treats you like adults. The class was very long in the summer... 2 hours and 50 minutes to be exact. He tried to make it go by faster and usually it went by fairly quick. A nice guy and a good grader.

Everyone needs to take a speech class. Take this one. He is a fair grader and responds quickly to emails. He is also very knowledgeable about the subject. No reason you should get anything less than a B+ in this class. Professor Thompson is a dogg and makes class fun and exciting! It seemed like all you had to do was complete each assignment and you would get an A in the class. Not sure what others with bad reviews took issue with. Do the work - get the A. Every classmate I talked to said the same thing "if you completed it, you got full credit." He only has 5 deadlines in the course, so it was easy.

Only 5 units and 5 deadlines in the class, so I could pace myself which is good because I work full time too. It seemed like if you did the work, this was an easy A. He gives you two to three weeks to do every assignment. Ive never had that long in any other online class before. Take him if you want the A but you have to do the work.

Easy but hard class. Easy because the schedule was clear and I could work at my own pace in this net class, but hard because I hate public speaking. Because we submitted recordings for speeches, it was easy to send in my best take and I always got good scores. He grades a lot on completion and just getting it done. Only a couple deadlines.

Great professor, gives you a good amount of time for the assignments. Overall easy class.

Prof. T is one of my first college professors, and he's awesome! He cares about attendance and gives great feedback to help you get better at being comfortable when speaking. He's easy to talk to about class or anything else. I definitely recommend him!

Best professor I've ever had. No reason why you shouldn't get an A. Prof T is amazing and entertaining to listen to. He makes lessons fun and enjoyable. He supports students in and out of school, especially when it comes to sports. I HIGHLY recommend taking his hybrid course for athletes if you play a sport at COD. 100000000000/10!!!!!!!
