He DOESNT TEACH!!! Talks about things that arent even on the test!! His lectures have nothing to do with the readings! Needs to learn how to teach
He is not a good teacher. Everything he discuss in his classes have nothing to do with the test. He also is much nicer to those that suck up to him. He brings his problems to the class and that needs to stop
He doesnt know how to teach.. hard class tests are only from the book. he likes to talk about his life and problems
A good teacher who knows U.S history and Political issues like no other. A entertaining teacher.
easy if you read the book, teacher tends to go off the subject
Talk about his life alot!!!
Do the READING and quit complaining. He's an easy going, nice guy and the class is interesting because he ties in current events and personal experiences with the course material. Rare for a PoliSci professor he presents all sides, not just the LEFT!
Not a good teacher at all!! Doesnt even teach and goes off the subject all the time.
Easy class to pass if you read the book.

terrible teacher, knows a lot about the subject but does not teach it well. also his lectures are useless, test have almost nothing to do with lectures or quizzes taken.
He makes poli sci interesting in that he talks about current events and keeps you up with what's going on. Other than that, his class is easy. He gives you the questions before hand for the test.
This class is easy. He gave us an outline for the test and lectured about interesting current topics. He is freakin funny too.
Lectures have nothing to do with the subject he should be teaching!! He also seems like he has no patience at times
Do not take his class!!! He will make your life living hell.
TERRIBLE TEACHER. He has the worst attidude and is extremely arrogant. His lectures have nothing to do with the class, when he bothers to show up. Very rude.
Great teacher. Sometimes goes off track from the class outline but there are always good discussions on world politics. I've learned a lot in class without having to worry about tests because they are always easy.

Cool teacher, a must take A++++ lol, dont take that lady gina diophola, she is really hard. Trust me
Very nice guy, and great teacher. Gives outlines for test, and lectures are great too.
Trull teaches off of mostly student interests and imput, so while his lectures are not exact book words, they are in book substance. Lots of current events and extreem ranges of left/right thoughts, so dont be offended.
GREAT TEACHER. KICK BACK CLASS. THE OUTLINE IS THE TEST. ALWAYS LET OUT EARLY. EASY TEST AND QUIZZES. I HAVEN'T READ A SINGLE CHAPTER AND IT IS AN EASY A.
Cool teacher. easy. He's rude at times and looses his temper, but he is really easy and it seems like he passes everyone
He has a tendency to favor pretty girls who sit up front in low-cut tops. In a t-shirt, I asked a question and got no response. Frequently misses class and office hours.
he teaches current events often, so he gives a much better picture of the way politics works in the world than most history classes. he has a good attitude, but is a little spacey sometimes.
This teacher supposedly teaches at a "fast paced college level," but he is lazy. He has SLOPPY writing, always lectures, and does not have any decent type of teaching technique. This class is so BORING for an Honors class, I gain much more from just reading the book. Is he just there for a paycheck?
Talked about PUNK ROCK CONSPIRACIES for 15 minutes the day before our final. Ive heard of going on tangents, this guy is on another planet at times, he seems to have gotten more serious. Class isnt too hard, hes pretty straightforward and fair, unless youre a hot female, than hes a little fairer .
Easy teacher. As long as you study whatever he gives you, it's an easy A for the class. Do all the extra credits he gives, even if you do miserably in your tests/exams, they will pull you up.
If you cannot get an A in this class, I feel sad for you. This class is so easy, he tells you what will be on the exam, and just participate and the class will move by so quick.
Doesn't have a teaching style and talks about whatever he wants to. Hes not specific and you end up over studying for nothing. Too bad he's the only teacher for the subject
Maybe he's not a hard prof., but his teaching style doesn't help students at all. If you don't know about politics, don't take him. He's not going over the materials from the text. It's totally off topic. You will be "Huh? What?, Where am I now?" If you know lots about politics, take him.
This was an easy, kickback class. He loves to talk and go off on current events. Easy class. Cool guy.
hes awsome!! when the class gets low scores, he gives extra credits to boost everyone up!!..very cool guy.. talks alot n things get in your head easily.. quizzes n tests are exactly what he talked about in class..if you take notes, u'll get an A for sure..
Easiest honors class there ever was. We spent most of the time discussing current events which was a blast. I totally got into politics after taking this class. Trull is pretty young so he's easy to get along with/relate to. Study just what he tells you too and you'll get an A, no sweat.
Took these classes in 2001. He got off-subject very quickly. Talking about a "realist" and Henry Kissinger at one moment, then talks about something else sparsely related to Political Science. Easy class, though. Looks like Trull hasn't changed very much over the years.
Trull is the professor to take if you feel you're in the 13th grade (i.e., those just fresh out of high school). For dedicated poli sci majors going on to 4 year universities and grad school, take someone else.
He's a cool guy, can get off topic but the topics are already in the assigned reading so you can talk about other things and the class isn't just a straight out of text book lecture.
He's a good professor, who gets a bad rep from students who really have no business being in his class. Just because he makes you think, and expects a lot out of you doesn't mean he is bad. If you use your brain and study (what a concept!), you will get an A.
HAHAHA! Trull is a very interesting guy... Umm... I am taking him for I.R. which is my major! I love the class because he relates IR to everything possibly imaginable! I like it because its a very laid back class. Tests are eh.. easy if you study, its fun... but very unstructured and unpredictable.
The proper word would be "challenging." Trull knows his stuff and makes it his passion to educate his students. He adds a real-world perspective to the classes and compliments the seriousness of I.R. & Comparative Politics with humorus resources. I would recomend him to any Poli-Sci major. Go Ali G!

He is worst professor in Mt SAC. The class was a joke. He doesn't teach at all, and he gives out poor grades. He never talked about anything from the textbook; instead, he always gets off topic. He gave out presentation assignments on countries. He sat back and listened for 2/3 of the course, and test you on them. Really bad class to take.
A smart guy,but seems like he's on drugs or something. He goes off on tangents & doesn't talk much about book;I didn't learn much.Very unpredictable(doesn't show up, suddenly changes test dates etc.)kinda frusterating! However,I found him to be a fair grader & his tests were not hard if you study. He likes people that try hard & participate in class.
Easy quizzes(5)(some open book)Midterm(he lets you correct 10 if u do bad), and a final.Just read your books. Taking notes doesn't help because he goes off topic all the time, yet he is really cool and laid back(young guy). Easy class, just take all quizzes(drops lowest), ask questions for participation, and you'll pass. I got a "B".
Easy young guy,5 quizzes(some open book-drops the lowest one)1 midterm(he lets u correct 10 questions) and a final. Cool guy, easy, he just goes off topic and changes test days which is cool 'cause you get more study/reading time. Easy "B"
if you really wanna learn international relations, don't take him. but if you want an easy class. take him. it's not very easy to get all A's, but at least he tells you the essay topics ahead of time. Easy B for sure.
If you are a person that learns best by listening and taking notes, then this class is not for you. The notes are not really necessary but his grading system is pretty decent. most of the quizes and exams are open book so no need to sweat. Just take it if its a requirement or if you are furfilling a Honors requirement.
He needs to learn to hand back all assignments once he is done grading them, or at least let the students see their work once graded. Not organized at all took him a long time to return my test. He is biased in class doesnt treat all students equal.
hard to get an A in the end
You don't want this prof.! He's not organized at all. He was always running late or missed at least six or seven classes. He likes to talk a lot! Easy distracted and always mad at something or someone! If you take him expect to do everything on your own because his lectures are not based on any exams.
very unorganized. this site gave him a good rating so i thought i give him a try, ended up costing me a B when i had a 4.0 before in 30 units. take this class if you already know everything there is to know about political science.
easy class
OMG his class was a joke. I took him over the summer when he first started teaching and all we did in class was talk and do nothing. I swear he came in EVERY class at 7:30, **** or hung over, it was hilarious!! got a A so i guess it was ok.
This professor is a f@#% joke....he actually calls himself a professor....he is not professional at all
he is all over the place... he confuses the**** out of me... he is a cool guy but damn he needs to organize his notes
What the guy below me said!!!
His class is not that easy because they are right, he is all over the place. He spends more time referencing songs than teaching you about the governments of the world. Towards the end of class he just gives up and you get a take home final based on horrible student presentations, take ANYONE ELSE...
This professor does a good job in a teaching the course. He makes what could be a dull class informative about the society we live in. If you pay attention and take an active stance in preparing for class, you will not have a problem in the class and you may learn information that is useful.
suck suck suck cant even teach.....dont take this class. dont even understand what he said...
I would not recommend anyone taking this class..do not take this class. The test are really hard. Hes really boring too. Hes not helpful and talks about other stuffed.
One of the best in the department. Interesting class. Those negative comments are just from whiners.
Pretty good professor. Does get a little off topic some time. but goes over everything you need to know.
Great teacher, gives you everything you need for the test. its so easy you start to slack off. ifyou dont you can get an easy A. One of the easiest classes i have taken
Great teacher!!!! Go to class, and you get an A. Take notes, and listen to what he says its fascinating even though he goes off a little. Wonderful teacher. Very smart and the tests are easy if you go to class and listen to him. Don't listen to the bad comments those are people who probably don't go or listen to him.
He sucks!!!! Hes the worst teacher i took in this semester.Dont take this teacher i wont recommend anyon taking him.
Beautiful blue eyes...Best teacher ever
He is the most amazing teacher ever. I loved him.
Extremely knowledgeable. He makes lectures fun and easy to understand. The tests can be challenging if you don't study/read the text, but he mainly tests on your overall knowledge of the material, not trivial specifics.
Personally, I hate his attitude. Not patient to students. Lack of eye contact while teaching. He looks at the blackboard, the ground or right above your head to the wall all the time. He doesn't know how to teach.
I would not recommend him although his tests are ok as long as you study. I just don't like the way he teach. Off topic and hard to catch up. That's what I wanna say.
very erratic way of teaching makes it difficult to know what to study at times, but he does tell you what subjects and areas to study for on the quizes and exams, very smart, he knows alot about most things, goes of subject quite often, and he is very difficult to take notes from, unorganized in his lectures, jumps around alot. but he's cool
There is no reason to take his class. He has no structure and the student ends up by paying for it in the end. I would be amazed if there were no formal complaints against him...

Tyler Trull is probably the most knowledgeable professor I have ever had. You get very little of his opinion, and I think it is genuinely because he knows too much about each side of an issue to really be opining about it. He does get off subject but his tangents are usually very interesting.
Horrible Professor!!!
Be fair to him. I have had many professors in my life and he is really down-to-earth with excellent subject competency. I think people are offended by his honesty b/c he tells it like it is, no BS! I was worried about taking him b/c of reading stuff here, but I am taking him next semester for Poli2. Great, genuine, honest person!
Took Trull for International Relations. He is by far one of the most unorthodox teachers I've had. He goes off topics A LOT. He does not use the chalk board often. He prefers to have a talk between students and himself. For me he was easy to understand in what he wanted from you in terms of tests and quizes. Tests were multiple choice and essay.
he tells you exactly whats going to be on the tests and quizzes. he's super funny and has a good sense of humor. he's also hott.
I had him for international relations and I got a "A" and i was a really busy person, dont really pay attention to his lectures unless you love what he has to say, buy the book cuz he tests you off of it...read the book closely, and have the general idea of what he's talking about...and in your essays make sure you answer the question throughtly!
awsom proffessor, extreemly knowlagable, cares about what he teaches , passionate about the subject, pay attention/ take good notes / and read the text( altough he doesnt lecture from it) the book is the source of the test questions. too succeed you must read and pay attention.
This guy lacks the intelligence to teach and doesn't know much about politics than Al Bundy. He is a liberal extremist. Be warned.
He is a professor who knows his stuff; the problem is getting him to talk about topics which will appear on the test. He will tell you everything you could ever want to know about international relations, but he divagates from the topic non-stop.
very liberal. funny. not very clear. open to ideas
Interesting professor. Like a few other comments he is pretty liberal but always tried to give the class both sides.*Always read the chapters he assigns and the class should not be difficult to understand. He likes to base his tests on his lectures more than the textbook, also gives guidelines to his tests to the students who choose to attend.
He is pretty liberal and outgoing. He always gives guidelines to his studentstests who attand the class. Tests are very easy if you study.
Easiest class i ever took. Just study the guides that he gives out and work out your essays for the two essay exams ahead of time. I mostly slept in class and finished with an A.
he is not liberal. only republicans think he's liberal. he's not very clear at times though. He's ok though. Sometimes it feels pointless to read the book though, it would probably be better just to listen to what he says instead.
Liberal professor most important make sure you stay up with your reading and attend class because he drops information that will definitely help you out. Fun guy although sometimes he will snap with little provocation. But over all great class just hearing how much knowledge he has is awesome. And not to mention he has gorgeous eyes.
He is interesting and funny and tells you exactly what is on the test.
the class was interesting . this teacher really knows what he's talking about which is why its hard to bs the essays. the class was a little difficult. i got A's on the quizzes but D's on the exams. i only studied the night before the test and quizzes. that probably explains my C. if you have time to rea the book then take the class .
I took him in the summer and the class went by so fast. The quizzes (which were pretty easy) and the tests (1 mc, 2 short answer tests) were based on his lectures. I didn't buy the book and got an A. Class was interesting most of the time and he really knows his stuff. Just try to focus and take good notes and you'll do great. Take him!!
very disappointed. he seemed good on the first day but then he was very disorganized and frazzled. never seemed to have time to do his job. take someone else.
oh c'mon... you sound like a whiner... what grade did you get???? I was in that class too and I got an A. True, busted my butt for it!!! I'm tired of people whining on these sites... makes us look stupid.
It's sad to see kids like these below me. They don't care about other people or what kind of teaching they get as long as they get A's. Ask yourself what you really learned if it means something or not. Because when you grow up, you will regret leaving that school without learning anything.
I took Trull a few years ago. He, along w/one other professor at Mt.SAC, were the only 2 I took which actually prepared me for university and taught college-level classes. Now I have a Master's degree. If you can't pass his class or find yourself complaining about him, what he says, or the way he teaches -tough!! You won't make it in college.
good teaching, international relations was so interesting, and hot professor.
Class is interesting. He's super cool. But take notes even if it doesnt seem important any bit of information can help. Reading the book can boost your grade cause his lectures are spotty. Attendence isnt required but he only tells you in class what questions will be on the tests.
Awesome Professor! He makes boring politics interesting, by taking about current events. He is SO OBVIOUS about what he is looking for on the tests. He gives out ALL the test questions BEFORE the test! 2 of the 3 quizzes were take home. He also gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Highly recommended!
Professor Trull is gets his point across, in an entertaining way. He makes lectures interesting. Easy to work with and understanding. He is not boring, monotone or mechanical at all. I highly recommend him, especially if you do not like Poli Sci.
Easy A. For intercession: drops lowest quiz (only 3 in total). Lots of extra credit. Explicit in what he expects you to know. Goes on tangents, but pertain to topic of discussion. You're a dumbass if you can't get an A. You're a complete retard if you can't pass.
Professor Trull gets his point across, in an entertaining way. He makes the lectures interesting. He is easy to work with and understanding. He is not boring, monotone or mechanical at all. I highly recommend him, especially if you do not like Poli Sci.
i don't know why his rating is so low. this guy is pretty chill and he goes off on tangents about interesting/funny things. plus, the class is pretty easy. i found it easier than high school civics.
everything you want in a college professor. chill, easy-going, not too difficult, entertaining.
really cool guy and really good teacher.. but i have anxiety and for some reason i got super anxious in his class. idk what exactly caused it but i think it had to with the fact that he moves so much and snaps sometimes. overall i'd recommend him (unless you have anxiety)
Good professor, he's cool. I thought he was kind of jerk at first, but I was wrong. He's a nice guy, gives extra credit, his tests are on what he says they will be on. Don't fall asleep in his class, u will b dropped for it. I don't like the subject, so his class seemed to drag. Overall, he's an okay guy, ignore negative comments about him :)
so i failed his class. it was becuz it was so hard for me to follow his lectures. grades based on quizes and test. he likes to focus on his opinion on politics rather than someone else. but he was helpful when i asked for help and did give me a better understanding in his teaching, but his methods was hard to get use to
Prof. Trull is a great teacher if you go to class and participate you'll do good. He grades really hard though read, study and you'll get a good grade he gives extra credit but do not fall asleep he'll drop you instantly and he's not bad to look at either:)
He takes everything personally. If you yawn, he will "apologize" for being boring. His class is fairly easy, but I don't recommend it if you truly want to learn. I walked out of his class with nothing but bits and pieces of random information because his lectures are disorganized and he goes on tangents about his pet peeves and whatnot.
He is a nice and easy going professor, but I have to admit that his bad side is he is extremely unorganized. Like more than you can imagine. He does not even give his lecture titles and he jumps from chapter to chapter. He is not hard though. He gives out the questions that will be in the exam in the same exact order. You will at least get a B.
HAD TO DROP HIM!!WAAAAY TOO UNORGANIZED AND CONFUSING!JUMPS EVERYWHERE!!He is cool and somewhat laidback at times and gives questions for exam beforehand, but very VAGUE! You better READ because he expects you to know everything! He can be easy or hard if you know how to do interpretation because there's alot of it involved. Just a warning!
He is extremely unorganized. I had trouble understanding his materials, but the good thing about him is that he offers you a grip load of extra credit. I literally got 15% extra credit which saved me from getting a D or failing the class. I think he is aware of how his teaching is which is why he offers those extra credits so students can pass.
Wow! This professor is the worst! I took him for the Spring semester, and he was so unorganized. It is so hard to get a good grade in his class. If you want to learn by yourself, then take his class.
His class is indeed a hard class. You have to really pay close attention to his lecture in order to do well because most of his exam questions are from his lecture, not from the book. If you are a learner by reading not by listening, better don't take him. His quizzes are easy though. He gives extra credit, yet it's still very hard to earn an A.
Tuff Professor. this was my least favorite class and the class i have done the worst in these last 4 semesters at Mt. SAC. he was not very helpful and i found his tests to be pretty hard. he is also boring. i would not recommend this teacher to anyone.
Cold and somewhat intimidating. He assumes you know what hes talking about and doesn't go into detail. Screamed at a girl because he thought she was sleeping. Over half the class failed his first quiz. He was not helpful at all. You have to read the book which is hard to follow if you wanna pass this class. i recommend someone else.
Easy professor, just read the book and go to lecture and you'll be fine
I am currently taking Trull. I think he's a pretty good teacher but I wouldn't mind getting the handouts earlier.
Mr. Trull is okay, but his only downfall is his organization. You will go back and forth with note taking and get confused more than what you were. Very opinionated and knowledgeable but can't teach you the material well enough for you to comprehend! It's a hit or miss, study the book and work hard because he has high expectations.
Professor Trull is a great Poly Sci teacher. I had zero interest in the course prior to taking it and just saw it as a GE to get out of the way. He teaches with passion and knows a lot about the subject. He may not be the easiest but if you read the required parts and attend class(and pay attention) there is no reason not to get an A.
Awesome teacher. You MUST pay attention in his class and read the book, in order to get an A. His class is not simple by any means, but he does an excellent job at teaching, and you can tell that he has a passion for the subject. He expects the class to know the answers to a question, if already covered. Keep up the good work, Professor Trull!
Yea, I agree with everyone you need to pay attention (especially movies)but its EASY on Quiz and test,he is chill professor,Before he had horrible rating but when I took him, different story, I'm pretty lazy student and studied mediocre but got B+, DON'T DROP,just stick with his class and see if hes easy for u or not (if you don't believe me)
He does go off tangent a lot but read the book, copy the notes and you will do fine. I took him during the summer and before the tests he would give us a list of what would be on the tests and he would pick topics off that list. Don't know if he still does that. I got a B because of EC he gave. 10% if you take tests early.
If you want a good grade in this class all you have to do is put in the effort. I think Trull is pretty rad; funny knowledgeable and by far the hottest teacher I've had yet, but I'm not 19. Love the hats and the walk.
If you are not white dont take his class. He insults minority students. (Tyler: If you have one million what would you do? Student: Invest of course Tyler with funnyface: Do you make a lot of money? ) He insults the student implying that he does not need financial advice because he consider himself a professional. Wew. Egotist and bigot.
Took his class during Winter session, over all pretty easy. Just attend all classes and take notes. I didnt read all the chapters and still received a "B", but the again I have a keen memory. Highly recommend Trull. Recall this was for his 6 week class.
Enrolled in his class but didn't like it because his personality and behavior is not professional. Slandering and badmouthing other Mt Sac professors while in class is a BIG no no. Somewhat egotistical and know it all. Passive-Aggressive? Take him, but you might not appreciate what he has to offer or say in or out of class.
Trull is rad! His class is awesome and not to mention interesting! Read the book take notes and listen to lectures!
great teacher, must take trull!
Man, he grades too harshly on tests. Come on 25% on a test counts toward your grade? Apparently if you do bad on a test and quiz its over...Hes cool but i dont like how he grades, i read and studied notes as well.
Professor made class interesting. You must attend class because he uses slides to show polls from previous years elections and uses them as test questions. Listen to the lecture carefully and you should do well.
Professor Trull is a nice guy, but I did not like his teaching style. He does not teach with powerpoint, but he writes down the notes on the board. The notes are not clear so you have to be there to understand the notes. It was hard to follow him because he jumps from topic to topic. I wouldn't take him again because I didn't take much out of it
Professor Trull is very easy to understand, as long as you attend to class you will learned, he gives extra 10% on the exams which is good it helps your letter grade to go up a lot. He is supper Hot and sexy for his age
Great class, just attend it everytime and take as many notes as you can (which there shouldn't be too many of) and you'll do just fine. It's real easy stuff, and if you don't understand something he'll be happy to explain in further detail during or after class.
Funny and smart.loved it. Participation points for reading out loud! Super easy. The only challenging thing are the tests. They are essay form. Have to remember a lot of material. But didn't have to read the book much, just attended every class. Pay very careful attention to his lecture , take lots of notes. He gives the test topics beforehand.
Trull is a cool guy. Interesting too. Class was fun overall. He & his notes can be all over the place, but he generally tells you what to know for exams. Study & memorize those things to do well. Pay good attention & go to class so that you don't miss extra cred opportunities! They can easily bump up your exam grades by 10%.
Great professor...really good looking.*drool*
SUMMER 2012 PROS: •Funny, Interesting, and loud •Honest •Just reading Homework •Notes are to the point •Extra Credit opportunities CONS: •No Office Hours •Grades Harshly •Goes off topic at times •No physical study guide for Quiz/Exams NOTES: •3 Quizzes and 3 Exams (1 lowest Quiz dropped) (2nd & 3rd Quiz, and 2nd Exam is open book)
He needs to do powerpoints so we know what to study cause i'm lost
It's hard to know what to study because he doesn't talk about the class but about real world events. Study guides or powerpoints would help
pretty cool guy but didn't really teach his book so test were really hard. but if you don't attend classes then this class is good because you end up teaching yourself
he didn't teach anything that wasn't on youtube..
Great professor, wrote his own Political Science book, fair grader, great sense of humor, and you should take his class. Make sure to be in class since you will get study guides for the test, otherwise you will miss out on that opportunity. Great professor in Poli 1. You earn what you earn grade wise, not too hard just follow directions.
Definitely has a teaching style that might be difficult for some people to work with. His lectures are sporadic but interesting. Tells you what chapters to read for each exam & offers 10% extra credit if you take the exam a week early. Couple of easy quizzes. Overall easy class if you can absorb his lectures & read the book.
Great guy but you can tell that he's not very organized. Seemed like he just gets up in the morning and throws together his lesson plan which is pretty much just him lecturing and sharing his personal political opinions. Can't say that I learned much. Just don't miss his class because you can miss some easy extra credit opportunities. Easy easy A.
very easy class as long as you read the textbook. No homework so grade depends on test and quiz scores. This professor is funny and knows the material very well.
Attendance is mandatory and don't be late. You'll most likely be marked down if you miss a class without informing him prior to it. Book is mandatory. All test and exam information is from the book. Relatively simple class to get an A in.
WORSE PROFESSOR EVER!!! class is based one HIS book. If you don't understand the material he will embarrass you in front of the whole class. NOT a good professor at all.
Professor Trull is a good Professor. I learned a lot in his class. His test and exams are really easy, his really Passion about his class.
EASY! He literally hands you an A. People who do badly are lazy. He tells exactly what to study. second test and quiz is open book. No papers or homework. Gives study guide for final. Smart man, wrote his own book that is easy to read. I barely studies and got 98% plus on everything. Tons of extra credit.
IF YOU HAVE GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THE GOVERNMENT SYSTEM, THEN TAKE HIM. IF YOU ARE COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS, THEN DONT, his book is hard to follow, JUST LIKE HIS LECTURE.MOSTLY ORAL LECT. Exam 1 study guide was vague.. Truthfully, I have no idea why people appraise this guy on this website.Hardest, GeD class ever.
easiest A I've ever received. If you do bad on a test there is extra credit available and he tells you everything that is going to be on the test word for word.
I wish every professor is like this one. He treats the students like adults. He was very clear during lectures and his tests are a piece of cake. Amazing professor.
Great class and great professor. Easy class as long as you go to class
He is pretty knowledgeable professor. At least you read the book, passing with an AB are not a problem. He will point to you what area that you have to study for exams and quizzes. Personally, I don't feel exams are hard. I would recommend.
Take good notes and you will pass. He is fair and gives extra credit. I would take any class he teaches.
Trull is a fast talking jock who is a history nut & knows everything about everything. who wont be impressed? if youre female, you will def find him charming, if not attractive bec hes so smart. That said, he talks too fast, & goes off topic & bounces around timelines. Immigrant students MAY get lost. I still got an A tho. Finals were take home!
Be there and you'll do well. He's helpful if you ask for it!
Nice guy he knows a lot.
This teacher genuinely cares about students' grades. If he sees the class struggling he will give extra credit, drops the lowest quiz and let's you retake tests. Because his discussions are open to class participation he may not be able to stay on track so reading the bookschapters is crucial.
Great teacher in my opinion. I tend to get bored during lectures and he kept me tuned in. One small book to read. You read 1 chapter per week test based off book. You have 3 TEST and 5 quizzes (which he drops lowest). Very easy class, must attend, if he see's missing students he' ll randomly offer extra credit or give study guide for test.
Trull knows exactly what he is talking about. He is very knowledgeable and willing to help you understand anything. His class was interesting and not too difficult. He has his own book which you need for the second exam (It's open book) and all of the other exams. Overall a great professor. I would recommend him to a friend.
Professor Trull is very helpful to all students. He's trying to make everyone gets an A by giving a few extra credit quiz and second chance for one big exam before final if not got a good grade in former exam. He's very cool! Highly recommend him as a Non Native speaker !!!
Hes good, usues his own textbook and easy if you show up and listen.
Trull is amazing! He's super knowledgeable and keeps you interested. I had him for three hours twice a week at 8:30 am... not once was I ever bored! I was never a fan of politics, but he inspires me to want to learn more and become an informed voter. Test wise... He tells you exactly what's going to be on the exams and quizzes!!! TAKE HIM!!!
Prof. Trull is a great professor! He is , exceedingly specfic. He will tell you exzactyl what is on the test, he also explains the subject very clearly. He keeps the class lively by making jokes, yet he keeps his own personal bias to himself! Even if you dont like Poli Science he makes the subject fun to learn. Not much homework either! Take him!
Use your study guide and you will pass. If you don't understand something ask questions, he is very helpful. He has a good sense of humor and makes the class fun. I would take any of his classes.
I understand why he is popular. However, I do not recommend him. His book is kind of hard to understand. He talks very fast, and his writing are hard to read. He would let everyone to read his book out loud in the class. I feel he has controlling behavior; if you did something he doesnt like, he will embarrass you or say something behind you.
he was pretty easy took him for 8 week hybrid. he wrote his own textbook so his lectures and the book go hand and hand pretty well. he gives couple mid term tests that are open book. he required a long essay. he randomly calls out to read and thats how he takes attendance if your not there you miss participation points which are huge for your grade
If you're not into politics DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! Class consists of 3 major exams, do bad in one and you have no chance of getting an A in the class. Doesn't really offer any extra credit. His book is confusing and talks fast during lectures. I bearly got a B in the class even though 1 exam was open book and one quiz was open book as well.
His class is very easy. He gives you the questions and answers the day before your exams, and the answers are exactly from what he lectures on. 3 exams and an extra credit. I dont understand how people don't like him. He's funny, loud (needed at 8 AM in the morning to wake me up) and passionate. Would take him again and I HATE politics.
He was a great professor who made his students interested in Politics.
He seemed very unorganized, he goes off tangent often, also he wrote the book so that doesn't help when you need help and it's not in the book. His notes are very vague so write more than he puts on the board.
This guy is the worst. He is so disorganized. I looked forward to this class for the election info and the whole class was a disappointment. DO NOT take him. you will regret it.
He does seem edgy but anyone who doesn't get at least a B is hopeless and should stop pretending to be a student.
So true about the book. It's written for university students, not us. I enrolled in jc so I wouldn't have to read.
I like this class alot. He expects you to read and be prepared, but isn't that the point? I would recommend.
i liked his style of teaching, easy to listen to
just go to class, you don't really need to read the book, and its easy B.
Professor Trull is a cool guy. I learned a lot in his class and always looked forward to it. I took the 8 week course and was initially worried about 8:00-2:45 but he never actually kept us in class that long. He tells you exactly what will be on tests and gave extra credit. Show up and keep up with the reading and you'll be okay.
We are all one consciousness imagining ourselves as separate beings. Enjoy the ride.
Good class
Your JOYful desire is understandable
I took him for winter 2016 and this was a perfect class. The exams and quizzes were great. Quizzes were fill in the blank, multiple choice, and open note sometimes. Exams were short essay or answer (however you want to look at it). Super simple and straightforward. Really fun and interesting class. Book is an awesome read.
As long as you are a good reader, you are good. The lecture is based on the reading. It can be a bit hard to keep up with the reading because sometimes he assigns 30 pages. Even though he can be a but all over the place sometimes overall, great teacher!
Professor Trull is awesome! I took him for PoliSci 1 and I don't regret my decision at all. He is truly a hilarious and genius guy! We had 3 quizzes, and extra credit was offered for all. The tests are easy and half are open book! Also, the book is written by him & he quotes it directly! I recommend him to anyone!
3 tests 2 quizzes participation
Took him during Fall 2015. He predicted Clinton would win the popular vote and Trump would win the electoral vote, before their parties even nominated them! Dude knows what's up.
Professor Trull is definitely unique. You'll probably never have another professor like him, ever. He's a bit all over the place but I imagine its because he has so much in that brain of his. Very brilliant. Truly loves the realm of politics and I have absolutely no idea why. It is his passion that is for. Makes learning this subject fun.
Nice and cool professor, but I can not focus on his teaching. Before the exam, he will tell us what is going to be on it. Multiple choice quiz and exam are open-book (second quiz and second exam). Take home final, 4 questions to answer.
Buy the book. Lectures by writing everything on the board. Take notes and you don't really have to read the book unless you want more details. Professor provided questions for essay tests, fill in quiz was easy if you studied, MC test/quiz were open book, final/1 essay quiz (1 out of 3 quizzes is dropped) were take home. Extra credit is offered.
Do yourself a favor and take him. I took his 8 week fall class from 8:00 am- 11:00 am. He never kept us there all that time. He also wrote the book which is actually so interesting to read. He tells you exactly what will be on the test and one is open book. He sets you up for success. You just have to show up to class. He is really nice & genuine
He's a good prof. I learned a lot in his class. The eight week format is a bit tough but it's worth it. Pretty easy A.
He's quirky but you'll learn a ton. If you are paying attention the exams are easy, very straight forward. You don't really need to read the book, just go to the lectures.
His tests and quizzes are relatively easy. He makes you do your own research to answer some of the questions on the test.. He has so much to say and is willing to work with you
Although Trull has an outspoken voice, he presents lectures with passion/ease. He breaks concepts down on the white board with diagrams so you will not be easily confused in his class. Although you have to purchase his written textbook, it is worth it as all his tests and quizzes are pulled from his books. There's usually quizzes almost everyday.
Took his class in Sum 17. Easy class. Interesting Professor. You probably won't notice, but it seems he is politically on the 'right.' He'll show you videos at the start of class which enables you to think about the current state of politics. He is not shoving an agenda down your throat. Great teacher, a bit quirky, but he's a professional.
Great Professor, Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. He will go off on a tangent and forget what he was saying everyday. Quizzes and exams are easy because he lets you know what to expect in advance so it is up to you. Lots of easy extra credit offered. You won't be bored in this class, and you should get an A if you show up.
Take home final was four essay questions long, all the answers were in the book. He wrote the book himself. Quizzes and tests are basically your entire grade. Study the book and ask questions, he doesn't lecture much.
I thought Professor Stephen Trull was great! He made learning about politics actually interesting. He wont hesitate to point out if someone's talking or using their phone. Sometimes its a bit hard to put your notes in somewhat of an order that makes sense, because he bounces around to different topics. But it's not a big issue. Good class.
Prof. Trull is an interesting guy, but is a bit unorganized in his lectures. He wrote the book that is required for the class. It's the easiest college class I've taken so far. His lectures are fun if you participate. There's a few quizzes, three exams, and a final take home paper those will be your whole grade.
This professor is very unorganized and cannot finish a complete thought because he bounces from point to point. It was extremely frustrating trying to keep track of what he was saying. I would recommend you to pick another professor.
Enjoyed the class but the people who say there's little work are insane. Lots of reading and writing. Most of the people around me were lost but smart people can follow him. My class had few.
Good guy, just show up and you do ok.
He will give you all the information that you need for a Quiz or exam. Does not do power point. He writes his own textbooks so he expects you to read them. His lectures are history heavy and hard to understand sometimes but his class is passable. Test are usually easy form but he does give multiple choice sometimes.
He was honestly a good professor. He taught us what we needed to know, and at times made me question my viewpoints. His lectures were all over the place, but was information and reality rich. He was a character, but well respected. I deeply recommend if you want the real unfiltered truth of politics :)!
He is an awesome professor! He gives great lectures and really cares about the subject he is teaching. Professor likes to incorporate things that are going on in today's world with things of the past. He really hooks you into paying attention and participating. Some quizzes and exams are open back and the final was a take home. The book is used.
He talks a lot. He is kinda unfiltered and just talks about whatever he wants. It's interesting sometimes. He is nice and funny and open-minded. But he just talks so much about everything and sometimes it made me wonder why I was still taking his class. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES
He is definitely a genius on politic matters. The lectures are hard to keep up with because the information is all over the place. Maybe it's because he has too much in this brain. He gives good study guides for quizzes and tests. He writes a great textbook that helps you understand politic a lot better. Nice experience so far.
Took Professor Trull during the summer and I can honestly say his class lecture were really interesting. He includes current events into his lectures and makes the topics amusing. As long as you read the chapters he assigns you should be set for his quizzes and exams.
HORRIBLE teacher! He goes off an tangents that do not pertain to Pol Sci, shares his personal opinions way too much. He cuts you off or tells you are incorrect if your views are not the same as his. His lectures are random and all over the place you have no idea what he is talking about half time.
Completely unorganized, shows many YouTube videos in class but skips around so its hard to even watch them, spends entire class making conspiracy theories instead of on exam review, takes long to email back, speaks really quickly, unstructured, skips around, scribbles nonsense all over the board so its hard to take notes that make sense.
First I thought he sucked now I still do.
Notes are kind of hard to take because of the way he writes and talks. Could be hard to keep track. If you are not a really good note taker or not a good listener that can keep up with him, then don't take him. That being said, I like how he openly discusses. He does tell you what chapters to read for quizzes/tests. The final was a take home final.
Great class. Easy to pass if you set aside a few hours a week to read.
Took him Fall of 2019. He taught us what we needed to know, while opening more perspectives to a perspective or lesson. Lecture heavy, while mostly getting off topic because references real time events to compare the lesson to, but very applicable lessons in real time/ world scenarios. His sense of humor and seriousness makes him great.
The best way to pass his class is to pay attention to his hints on what will be on the test. First two exams are somewhat challenging but he will tell you what to do. Also, read the book you will never pass without reading it. And he gives a take home final. Occasionally gives EC here and there. Just make sure to actively participate all the time.
Taking Professor Trull's classes is an awesome experience for the discussions and his thought provoking way of doing lectures. He takes current events, relates them to the class material and invites input from everyone. The written exams are all straight forward and as long as you do the readings and give detailed responses you'll do just fine!
Very easy class, just read his book and put effort into the assignments and youll pass. There is only around 7 total assignments for the whole course. Take him!
I took Professor Trull for Spring semester 2020. It was during the beginning of the whole covid quarantine so only the first couple of weeks were in person and then it went to online. The first weeks with him were good, but once school closed it was all self teach. He didnt bother trying to teach online it was read his book and take his exams.
He really doesn't care about online teaching, assigns reading and its only quizzes and exams from there on out. Don't take him if you actually enjoy learning something, you wont here.
This is not a hard class. He has some crazy discussions but you can use the book on tests.
With regard to his online teaching skills, he has none. Multiple students complained about not receiving notifications and missing a quiz, which is one of the few things that we were graded on. His response had no sympathy and faulted the students. He also constantly changed his syllabus. And if you haven't gotten his textbook yet, save your money.
He never changed his syllabus.
This class was very easy. I only had to do one discussion, 3 quizzes, and 3-4 tests the whole semester. The tests are not hard at all and I had no problem passing the class.
Basically a correspondence class. Read the book he wrote and do quizzes and exams. No true Canvas page as other profs have. Frustrating, confusing, and hard to be on your own. Slow to answer emails. Take someone with a real Canvas page.
His lectures in person were a bit vague and all over the place. I learned later on, it helped reading the chapter BEFORE you enter his class; it helps with confusion. His exams and quizzes were relatively easy. He gave us a heads up and even let us use our textbook on some exams. Chill Professor.
He's a pretty good professor and his class is very easy to pass! He makes tests very easy by allowing us to use the textbook and he also goes through the questions. And his lectures are pretty hilarious while informational.
Very disorganized--all over the place with lectures. Doesn't use PowerPoints for lecture notes. Posts nothing on Canvas meaning he also doesn't use the the digital or Canvas gradebook. Completely old school. My personal opinion is that he is very politically conservative.
The TRUTH TRULL is absolutely HILARIOUS! Took him this last spring semester he was very personable and made everyone laugh. He does not use canvas but will do traditional math to get your grade. Different but clear. Work was easy just study hard pay attention TAKE NOTES and you will pass
This was honestly a really hard course to understand. The professor was really funny and personable but he was hard to understand and always goes on many different tangents. He wrote the textbook himself and to me it did not make any sense at all. If you read the book and take notes you should be okay and pay attention to what he says. He offers EC
Easy class. Tough to sit through lectures. Professor is all over the place with lectures and constantly goes on rants. As long as you pay attention in class you can pass. He constantly gives opinion based lectures with no real facts, just like his book.
Took this class during the winter and it was a lot to do in such little time. Professor went on tangents that didn't relate to the material. Wouldn't recommend his class. He wrote the textbook used in class and it doesn't make much sense. The final exam is opinion based and if you don't understand the material it will be difficult.
Professor Trull is incredible, when I become a professor I plan on facilitating my classroom the same way he does. He makes sure that the class room is engaged and uses real time scenarios to explain the concepts that are in his lessons. This man is a stand up guy, furthermore If he would ever run for president I would vote for him!
He seems like a cool guy; however, he goes on non-stop tangents the entire time. He replies to emails in a timely manner most of the time. What made this class extremely difficult was that the exams are based on your notes. Because he was very confusing during the lectures, this was challenging. He has no real structure, and he doesn't use Canvas.
He is unapologetically passionate about what he lectures about. The way he lectures causes you to question your own bias to popular debates and engages with students to discover what they actually care about. Trull is not afraid to lose his job if it means he can make politics relevant and spark the same passion for a few more students.
all over the place
He is all over the place. He is rude. If I could give him a zero on rating I would have. Test are heavy on the information of the textbook. He does provide the textbook on Canvas. But still all over the place.
The professor can be all over the place, but if you stay engaged and use study aids like unstuckstudy ai alongside the textbook, you can do well. Exams are challenging but manageable with preparation.
Professor Trull is entertaining and personable. The class itself is pretty easy! The textbook is provided for free and he offers a lot of extra credit opportunities.
His class was easy, but he rarely discussed the material we needed to know in class. Class was just a group politics discussion session every time. Despite this, his class is insanely easy and nearly all of his quiz and exam questions were handed out beforehand, you'll just have to figure out the answers on your own. Take him for an easy A!!
Awesome professor, lectures were super fun and engaging, class was actually fun to go to. I enjoyed how every lecture felt more like a discussion amongst friends rather than something mandatory. If you want a super interesting class experience, I couldn't recommend more
Overall he is not a bad professor. For me he was just every where and jumped from topic to topic, but your grade just came from exams and quizzes. Showing up is super important because you will not understand much that is given in exams. I would take him again because he seems to enjoy what he teaches.
Professor Trull made the class very interesting and showed how political science relates to daily life. He has a lot of energy and frequently involves students in discussion, which makes the lectures very fun to attend. He gives out the topics for exams in class, so attendance is probably the most important thing for succeeding in this class.
Would not take his classes again, he jumped from topic to topic and never made it clear on what to study for the exams. Although he is funny his teaching style is not for everyone
I wouldn't recommended him, he doesn't really give lecture, more like just talk about whatever is on his mind and then expect us to take a quiz the following class. He's nice and likes the subject, but he has no lecture slides and not a lot of material to work with. Maybe skip this professor, he's not awful but if you are a visual learner, skip it
He comments on the news and current hot topics every day, better than memorizing concepts. I'm really thankful that my friend recommended this professor to me, because I honestly don't understand why his ratings are so low. No homeworks; the exams are extremely easy, and there are lots of opportunities for extra credit. Get an A+ super easy.
Very interesting views and insights from this professor. It is a real political class. Professor Trull provides you with different aspects to review the political, historical events, I really enjoy his class. He is not a mean professor. Do not be afraid to ask questions, he likes students to engage. If you do your work, you will get a good grade.
Professor Trull is a wonderfully unconventional professor with a discussion based class model. He clearly cares deeply about his subject and has much to share. He consistently brings up examples/topics related to concepts and ideas which make it extremely easy to remember necessary course content. Essays are easy if you read like you're supposed to
This class was highly interesting, and refreshing compared to other classes that I've taken in the past. There is only three exams and one term paper, but each class leading up to the exams establishes proper discussion points and notes to use. If I were to give any advice, don't be afraid to ask any questions that pertain to the lecture.
Professor Trull is passionate and extremely knowledgeable about politics. Attendance is mandatory as he covers everything that will be on exams and papers. There's no textbook, instead he posts articles and readings to do before class (these will help you on exams and papers). There are very few assignments and most are take home.
At first I didn't like his style of lecture but it did grow on me. Yes he can be rude, and a lot of what the other reviews said but honestly I like him as a professor, he's very smart.
Professor Trull is really engaging with his material, he can be a bit much for certain people but its to get you to realize the importance of the lectures that he gives. ALWAYS read the chapters he gives you, otherwise you might feel lost when he revisits these during lectures.
To me I really do like this teacher. He gives both sides in politics which I think is actually really good because he gives credit where it's due and as well as he knows what he's teaching and don't be shy to talk to him he can definitely help u with questions or concerns. Overall u can take how he teaches however but to me I think he a good teache
He never once communicated via Canvas. He also doesn't respond to any emails or messages. His lectures also do not relate to his tests or quizzes because he talks about random, unrelated things. However, the only homework is to read the chapters that he doesn't quiz you on. Still wouldn't recommend.
Such an unprofessional professor i do not recommend. I drove to his class without a seatbelt on
Professor is very difficult to work with on multiple levels, like mentioned he DOES NOT use canvas for assignments, exams, or communication. The class is based off of three exams and two quizzes the rest is lecture that usually ends in confusing rants with concerning takes, claims to be bipartisan while very clearly showing conservative preference.
the reviews r right he doesnt communicate in email or canvas but his class was so engaging, i enjoyed all the lectures, hes funny, and has great insight. exams were all take home except for first one and if you're not easily offended i cant recommend the class enough. imo people hating r doing just that. for context im a left leaning 18 y/o, UNBIAS
I took Trull's political theory class and it truly was one of the best classes I've taken. Trull is smart, funny, and his lectures are great if you actually pay attention. The students who dislike him or say that he goes off-topic usually are the same students who zone out or scroll on their phones (grug brains). The required readings are great.
Lectures are mandatory unless you want to read the textbook, but they are entertaining and bring relevance to the topics at hand in a way that the textbook can't do as easily. No homework, only a few quizzes, and an easy final. Enjoyable class, just be wary of the professor's political leanings.
The assigned books are strong, but the lectures are often meandering and poorly structured, with much of the material unrelated to the sole graded component—the essays. Although Trull is knowledgeable, his pedagogy is ineffective. I would advise against this course on an educational basis, and fail to find objectivity above a 2 which is an “OK”.
