Bro Turcotte is a great teacher who explains things very well every time you ask. He cares about you learning the material and makes himself available for out of class questions.
ZZZZZZZZZ....oh is class over already. Not the most exciting class or teacher. Probably could have done better in there had I tried hard, but it was such a boring class. Lab classes are even worse and oft times you will get an assistant that doesn't really know what they are doing.
Bro Turcotte is an awesome teachers who cares a lot. Not too much homework, and easy to pass if you just go to class. He pretty much told us exactly what was on the test be giving us example problems! I loved the class, and I wasn't too excited going into it!
For me this was a difficult class. I struggle with understanding and applying the concepts. Bro. Turcotte is very willing to help and try to help you understand, I just don't catch on quickly. But he tells you basically what will be on the test, so if you try your best through the rest, it's possible to do fairly well.
Brother Turcotte is probably one of the nicest guys in the world. His classes are really tough and he teaches them prett well. He is quite possibly the easiest grader on earth though, which helps cause his tests are usually pretty tough.
Great teacher. He'll spend hours with you in his office if it's needed. He knows his stuff. He's tests are really hard, but he grades kindly, so it works out. If fact, because of this, you will learn to solve harder problems without getting a D in the class. A+++
This teacher seems nice, but he is SO BORING!!!
Really nice teacher. Buy I-Cliker instead of textbook. Wants everyone to comment in class for points (you can lie) readings before class but you can BS it...you get in a group for the semester and have to meet once a week for a group project. Homework once a week I do with my group. So far it's past midterm and I have an A, haven't learned anything
Very nice guy. He is reasonable in his grading. He knows science.
He is a man of Physics, and sometimes he knew as much as we did on certain topics. He does know science though don't get me wrong. He was lenient on his grading, with that said I strongly recommend him
He was an okay teacher. I don't know if it was him or the class but I didn't love it. He didn't explain things very well and everything was so vague. He was very helpful either. He was really nice though. Great guy, not so great teacher.
Great teacher! Always willing to help! Loves to take questions and explore ideas!
Great teacher! Not always completely clear but ALWAYS willing to clarify if you ask him. Grades kindly. Tests are difficult but he'll help you out to get a good grade. If you will do the homework and group work you will do fine. Learned a lot!
As long as you do the homework, the group assignments and the journals (all are usually fairly easy), you should do fine. You can get by okay without doing the reading, too, but you'll do a lot better if you actually do the reading. Regularly updates grades on iLearn, which is nice.
Mostly busy work, easy A if you pay attention to every minor tenet of syllabus. Personally didn't learn much of anything, got bored.
Easy class just do the work and go to group assignments. He's very understanding and will help you if you talk to him before or after class.
complete and total flake. I can't tell you how many homework assignments he lossed...and I had to re-email them to him, like 5 times because apparantly he didn't save the emails either!!! My midterm grade was failing cause of all these papers he lost, so now I really had to bust my butt to get a C in his class cause of him loosing my homework!
Most of class was very interesting.
he is very very nice and helpful. lets you turn in assignments late especially when you're sick. very easy assignments due every day. gives you more points than you deserve most of the time. midtern and final but both are easy if you study. read the book! easy even if you don't pay attention to his lectures. easy attendance points with the iclicker
I really enjoyed this class. I learned a lot, but it wasn't too hard. I would say it was just right.
If you love pointless busywork and wasting class time discussing whatever random tangents are on his mind, then Turcotte is for you! This means that if you are willing and have time to spent on his overly in-depth (and daily) assignments, then you can do well, but if you have a life (work, social, or just more important classes), steer clear.
I liked Brother Turcotte. His class had a lot of busy work but it wasn't hard, and there was only two tests all semester! He did his best to explain what was read in class, but it was really boring at times. Just show up with the assignments completed and you got it good.
He is a good teacher but kind of hard to understand. He is really smart and has a lot of experiance, but also sometimes talks over your head. Works with you if you ask for it. Gives extra credit at the end!!! Pretty good teacher.
Professor Turcotte really seems to have a real desire to help all his students succeed. He is very understanding, but still expects assignments to be turned in on time. He is very patient and doesn't seem to mind taking extra time to explain certain concepts in class.
I liked the way that Professor Turcotte taught his class becasue it was easy to understand and just enough work to handle.
he is a nice, funny guy. there are assignments due each class , but they're simple. there are also group assignments due each week. though they are nothing extravagant. The biggest thing is attendance (for class and group meetings). Especially since the iclicker is used each class period. the work load is simple =]
Good teacher. Fairly easy class if you show up and do the reading
He wasn't very easy to understand or get knowledge from and his ways of giving us assignments online as well as hard copies was confusing.
Laid back classroom experience. We did a short reading assignment for each class and one group assignment a week. He knows what he is talking about and is always willing to help.
He was a good professor, I really liked knowing what the assignment was going to be every day. It wasn't to hard, yet I still learned.
I'm a students taking his class this semester. His class is fun to know what science is. I got A-grade as midterm, but I'm trying to get A grade by the end of the semester.
Its hard to rate the teacher himself because I learned all the material through the reading. His reviews for mid term and final are very helpful.
Brother Turcotte is a good guy, but I don't really like science very much period, so I didn't really like the class... but that wasn't because he was a bad teacher
He has easy assignments that are usually busy work. He does require group work every week.
I learned a lot from Brother Turncotte's class. He's more on the quiet side so he's super sweet and he sometimes adds some random jokes which makes class fun. I highly recomment him!
Brother Turcotte is such a great guy!
Brother Turcotte is great about answering questions and making sure you grasp the concept before moving on if you show that you don't understand.
Brother Turcotte is really good about making sure students understand and grasp the course material. There isn't a textbook, but you have to read from a pdf file for every assignment but it really isn't that bad. He was good about explaining the topics and I was able to learn a lot from his class.
I really liked his teaching style. I noticed that he would help us out of class which was nice. I would recommend this class for others
Bro. Turcotte was a pretty good teacher but sometime if he didn't know the answer to a question he'd just subtly change the subject. He made it really easy to get an A and if you do the work, it'll pay off. You have to do group project which I don't particularly like. Overall he was an okay teacher.
Bro. Turcotte is a good professor. His class isn't very hard, you just have to pay attention and do the homework. The homework is easy too. good class.
Professor Turcotte is for the most part a pretty good teacher. He will work with you to get what you need done and he will try and help you to get the grade you deserve. He will help you with the things you don't understand and will try to teach you to the best of his ability!
Bro. Turcotte's helps you teaches through power point and i-clicker question. Reading before class is definitely helpful.
Brother Turcotte is a good teacher, but he talks sort of monotone and the class is kind of boring. Basically I go to get the Foundation class out of the way and don't really enjoy the class that much.
I enjoyed the group projects and class always flew by. I did learn new material, but nothing absolutely profound. I did enjoy that we always kept the spirit and I often recieved spiritual insights in class or over the homework.
Great teacher! i loved the class even though science isnt my thing i learned a lot!
He is a very good guy who is willing to help you. Not the most interesting of speakers but a good fellow. Really will work with you if you ask.
Brother Turcotte is a great teacher. I would recommend him to any science student.
Brother Turcotte is a great science foundations teacher! He is very quick at getting back to you if you have questions and he works with you if something happens. I'd recommend him to anyone.
Bro. Turcotte is very knowledgeable about Physics but about others things he doesn't know all that much. The class I had with him is FD. SCI 101 it was interesting but sometimes got a little boring. But he is a pretty good teacher.
Brother Turcotte is a great teacher! He will answer your questions and is willing to help you out. I learned a lot in the class. The homework is not bad. Its simple and pretty easy to understand.
This was a good class. He uses the clicker alot and that is where alot of points come from. As long as you attend class and turn in all of the homework and group work you will pass!
Bro Turcotte was a good teacher and really wants you to understand and be successful in his class. If you do the reading and assignments you will be fine!
He is a very nice guy, and he's super smart. But because he is so smart, it's sometimes difficult to understand him.
I think Stephen Turcotte explains things well. I understand what is going on in class and I am learning several things daily.
Brother Turcotte is great! He has a great love for the work and the class has a great environment about it. The group work is a gret way to learn better outside of class.
Bro Turcotte is really easygoing. He's willing to help you make up points for missed days. Some stuff can get a little boring, but i don't really like science so that might be why. there's a lot of online reading, but it's easy. Attendance is important b/c of iclicker questions. go to class and listen, and the tests will be easy. i'd take him again
He is a pretty easy going teacher. He knows his material. You need to be there every class for the clicker questions but it is fun to use the clicker. I would recommend taking him. No textbook-it's all online and easy to get to.
I really enjoyed this guy. The class wasn't hard at all, but you were able to learn a lot if you wanted to. A lot of group projects.
Brother Turcotte is an extremely nice man. He is clearly passionate about all matters of science and the tie that they have with the gospel. He uses a power point lecture style of teaching, which for some is difficult. I found it difficult to remember and focus with his powerpoints. He does answer all questions and is always available to help you.
Brother Turcotte is a very good teacher. He listens to your questions and tries to answer them to the best of his ability. The homework and group work was easy. Attendance is important because he does i-clicker questions everyday. I would take a class from again.
He got boring sometimes, but he's easy and the class goes by relatively fast, only take 2 test, no quizzes homework was reasonable.
I found difficulty effectively studying for tests. I felt I was prepared enough for the test but didn't do as well as I wanted.
Not to hard of a teacher but he can be very dry at times
he was boring but was clear on what he wanted and is a great teacher and helps you get the work done
Brother Turcotte, is a good teacher. His work is not overly hard and yet not always easy. To do well you just have to show up and do all your work.
He was very good at answering student questions and making sure that we understand the material
very good teacher
Turcotte is a great teacher and is very laid back. He is willing to help you whether you are confused or need help. Overall a great guy and a good teacher.
The class is pretty easy. There is a ponder/prove assignment and textbook assignment due for each class period. For tests there is only a midterm and a final.
Nice guy classes are interactive i like the way he uses the iclicker
good teacher. kinda boring but better than the last teacher i took for this class. midterm need to study. but if you PAY ATTENTION you will do fine. assignments due every class period.
Really nice guy. Classes mainly consist of big class discussions. Lots of reading. Overall good class.
I thought that this was an easy class. If you just do the work and turn in the assignments you will pass.
He was definitely one of my better teachers. The class is relatively easy but you still learn a fair amount. You'll do fine as long as you show up to class with your assignments done.
Brother Turcotte is a great teacher and always willing to help explain. The course is a little difficult because it is so many different ideas it is hard to get them all to soak in. Work load is fair but it takes effort. Have to study for tests!
Easy class work, just stay up to date with it and you'll be fine.
The class work was overall easy to accomplish, but his teaching was sometimes confusing because he is so smart that "dumbing" the material is sometimes hard for him. He is very nice and willing to try to help.
He is a little monotone when he talks but he cares about his students! Just do the reading and turn in your assignments and you should do alright. Participation in class does help!
He is an awesome guy! He is very helpful and he is very willing to work with you on any problems you have. As long as you do all the assignments you'll get a good grade in his class. You don't have any tests except for the midterm and final. If you get a chance, take him!
If you have any questions he is more than willing to help. Hes a great teacher and i highly recommend him!
Great Teacher... So willing to help and answer anybody's questions. I would highly recommend for FDSCI 101. This man is a SAINT!
Brother Turcotte is a pretty good teacher. Sometimes I get confused what he is talking about and I think he could do a better job explaining things, but his tests are fair. Be prepared to do an assignment and journal before each class. Group projects are fun though! He is willing to answer questions though, and that is good.
Great teacher, great subject, great hair, great class! definitely worth it! I loved it!
I really enjoyed Brother TURCOTTE's class. He is a super nice guy and very helpful. He is easy to approach. The homework is just the right amount for a two credit class. You have a short paragraph and a few questions for every reading. Have two of those a week and a group project once a week.
He is a very nice guy. I've taken other foundations classes that were much easier though. There will be a an assignment before each class. I really, really don't like science but brother Turcotte made this class bearable. If you do all of your reading asssignments and study a decent amount for the tests it will give you a B+ in this class not an A.
He answers questions right then when asked. He is very easy going and very lenient with your work. Understand when you cant finish an assignment and will let you do it for full credit.
All in all a pretty good class. It wasn't my favorite ever but I didn't mind it as much as I thought I would. Bro. Turcotte is really nice and knows what he's talking about although it comes across kinda confusing sometimes. I liked the clicker questions and the homework was acceptable.
Very easy going, helpful and great to work with. Wish all teachers could be like him
Good teacher to take the class from. You can tell he's a genius, but he has a hard time dumbing down his intellect for the average student. This makes his explanations confusing sometimes. Good guy though and I would recommend his class.
He is very outgoing. He clarifies most of the readings that we've read from previous assignments. He helps us understand the concepts that we learn. I've learned alot from his class.
He knows his material and has a well outlined/scheduled class. keeps the class interested and goes through the information so that it is understood by all.
This class was way too large to keep the interest of more then half of the student especially if you started out with little interest. He's a smart guy but his intelligence makes it hard for the average Joe to understand him.
If you do what your suppose to do then you'll pass no matter what. There are little assignment do everyday but really they are no big deal. You need to be in class everyday or else you'll lose points for I-Clicker. There is group so there are more easy points. I'm happy I took this class from this teacher!
If you do what your suppose to do then you'll pass no matter what. There are little assignments do everyday but really they are no big deal. You need to be in class everyday or else you'll lose points for I-Clicker. There is group assingments as well but they are fun short ones. I'm happy I took this class from this teacher!
Good teaching, knows what he is talking about. Extremely knowledgeable on the subject. If you do the homework and study for the tests, there shouldn't be a problem.
Explains homework. Has a lot of slideshows to teach and clicker questions.
He's very clear, organized, and helpful when it comes to the material.
He is a really good teacher! The only thing is that his voice is monotone so it is hard to stay awake. But if you can stay awake you'll learn a lot and probably like him :) Oh and the texbook is online.
He is very intelligent but doesn't always explain things well. Yet he is always willing to answer questions and does his best to make things clear.
I really enjoyed the class, as it helped me to gain a better understanding on the subject.
Excellent teacher, knows his stuff
He is a nice guy, keeps you busy with home work all the time. He really tries to do his best. I like him. Do your homework and you'll be fine.
Great class, I was sick for two weeks but he allowed me to email in assignments.
Teacher knows the stuff but doesn't really teach. A lot of homework. It's a 2 credit class but workload is for 3 or 4 credits. Did not like the class because too much is required from students, and teacher just post what you need to learn online. It should be an online class.
It is a great class, Bro Turcotte is a very patient understanding teacher. Very fun and very easy.
Stephen Turcotte is a wonderful, great teacher. Not only is he extremely intelligent and educated in the areas he teaches, but it is also easy for you to feel, and see how much he cares for each and every one of his students. He is very patient, and will never make you feel ignorant or inadequate for the questions you ask. This course is the type w
Brother Turcotte was a great teacher and made class fun even if not everyone thought it was a fun course to take
He is a good teacher with a wide range of knowledge about many topics. He rarely contradicts comments and tries to twist the context to be correct. For me, I don't like that teaching style but for those that do then he is great.
This teacher understood what he was talking about but it made it hard for students who didnt have prior knowledge to certain aspects of what he was talking about because he didnt go and explain them. Also the work load included too much busy work for a college course we had nearly 6 assignments a week everyweek thay were due.
Very Helpful. Always willing to lend a hand, and interested in his work and us, as students.
For such a large class, Bro. Turcotte does an excellent job in making himself available to students for one on one time to resolve any questions or concerns. He is clear and concise, and what he teaches actually applies to life.
Turcotte is genuine and kind. His classes cover the material on the exams clearly and his homework is manageable and interesting.
Probably the nicest science teacher I've ever had. No horrible ego. He's really nice about homework. Probably the best professor I could have had for a Sci 101 class.
He's a good teacher, sometimes hard to follow but if you do the reading then you will do fine in the class.
extremely helpful and understanding
It's really hard to listen to a lecture class especially about science, but he makes it interesting. Anyone could take this class and learn something about the basics of Science. And Bro. Turcotte is a good teacher, very understanding, and willing to work with you unlike some teachers.
Great teacher. The class is great if you just keep up on your daily work. Helpful and one of the best science teachers I've had.
Bro. Turcotte is cool and knows a ton about science. Really explains the concepts well and is willing to work with students
Turcotte is the man! Take this class
He is a pretty laid back teacher he will usually accept late work. The homework isn't too difficult. You do a lot of group work. He just lectures and has a very monotone voice that put me to sleep. It isn't the most exciting class I have taken. I didn't really learn a lot of new information. However, it is a fairly easy class.
he is neither good nor bad
It was a big class but he took care to make sure no one was lost every lost. He was able to explain complicated concepts in a way that was easy to understand.
He is an awesome teacher. If you go and hand in assignments, you'll pass. He tries his hardest to make sure all 100 of us understand-he doesnt move too fast, and is always willing to help. HE FOLLOWS THE LEARNING MODEL.
The class is interesting but he doesn't really explain everything very clearly. The group work is obnoxious but it does help a lot. Class time is interesting and he does follow the learning model which is nice. Assignments are tedious but easy.
Science is my worst topic, and he really made me understand alot better.
He is a very awesome teacher. I'm not into science but he definitely made it more understandable. He really helped to answer all questions, and the ponder/prove assignments made it easier for me to figure out what topics weren't clear to me.
He is very understanding and willing to help his students.
I thought he did a good job of covering the material and working with us to help us understand. We were responsible for being prepared for class, and we also learned a lot from each other.
He's very fair when it come to grading and is flexible to our circumstances. A good teacher who is honest.
good teacher. does his best to help you out.
I reaky like bro Turcotte as a teacher. He cares about his students and takes the time to explain the material. Highly recommend Bro. Turcotte
If you do the work for each class, then you will be more able to understand what goes on in class. He is a fairly easy teacher.
Lecturew were easy to understand and interesting, but homework took a lot of time and I learned little from it.
Brother Turcotte is a very nice teacher. If you do all of the assignments and ponder and prove assignments, then you will get a good grade. There is a lot of group work. But he is a fairly easy teacher and you will learn a lot.
Brother Turcotte is an awesome teacher. He's very intelligent and yet so humble. It's also obvious that he cares a lot about his students. Never seemed rude or annoyed with even the dumbest questions asked. I think the class is really a waste of time and probably one of the stupidest classes I'll take, but Brother Turcotte is awesome.
he knows his stuff!
Brother Turcotte is a very intelligent teacher and really understands science. I personally didn't get much out of the class because I don't like science, but do the homework and you will pass.
Bro. Turcotte is a very helpful teacher and wants his students to learn the materials. The course is not very difficult, (to me it was comparable to a high school science course) and it is easy to get a good grade if you do the assignments before class. The tests are based almost solely on the readings, so if you read you can pass the tests.
Very nice guy, he teachers really well so everyone is able to understand the material. He doesn't seem very excited about it, though.
Bro Turcotte is an awesome teacher! He makes sure that we understand things and answers every question well. You can tell that he knows tons about science. The course is very straightforward and you know what is expected of you. I would recommend Bro Turcotte to anyone!
good at explaining things, sometimes a little bit boring, but not bad.
He is a great teacher. Very helpful and understanding.
The teacher was really nice, but the material is really unclear. The textbook does not really help either.
He is a very kind professor, very helpful and understanding. Just pay attention, and do your assignments every class and you will get an A. He's very good at listening and being interested in students comments, which I appreciate in a professor.
Professor teaches clearly and works to help students understand the subject matter.
This was one of the worst classes I have taken in college! I took this class at another university (much harder University and class might I add) and got an A, but for some reason cannot reach an A as hard as I try with this class. His tests do not fairly show your knowledge on the subject. He grades hw hard, even opinion religious questions.
His class is somewhat fun but he grades homework too harshly. Some of the questions on homework are also not covered in the assigned reading.
Excellent Teacher. There are daily assignments (which are easy). In class points with clickers are easy. You will choose science project groups on the 1st day of class ... so choose wisely. 2 projects. No exams other than midterm and final. Really easy to get an A if you come to class and do all the assignments. He is the nicest professor yet.
He is a great teacher. It's a broad and general science class so it's hard for him to "dumb it down" sometimes. Class consists of: daily lecture prep assignments, weekly group projects, clicker questions, and in-class group assignments. It's not that hard of a class though. Just a lot of work for a 2 credit class.
Seriously, any average student could get an A with this class. It just requires some work, but not as much as most classes you'll take. He realizes its just a 101 class and makes it easy. He interacts well with the students considering how large of a class it is. I recommend him to everyone, great class, easy A and you learn a lot. Great guy!
Easy class and good professor.I just dont think he was meant to teach this class. tries hard for everyone to get it though. he grading is as steady as a flag in the wind and his test were just flat out ridiculous because they didnt cover what we learned, just the review he gave us before.I love the guy though. I would take him again in a heart beat
I really enjoyed Brother Turcotte. HE wasnt the smartest in some areas but you could tell he had studied them and really enjoyed learning about them himself. Somethings you learn at the same time he does. He knows his physics though! Great teacher and a really nice guy. His Fianl was a bit rediculous on a powerpoint with each question timed.
Bro Turcotte is a such a stereotypical science teacher (glasses, tie, monotone etc), but I LOVE it! He pulls it off! His class is so easy, but his tests are a little hard.
Do the reading, you get a hundred on the homework(or close to it)which is very easy, usually 5 or so questions and a short answer , do that and show up to class and you'll get a hundred on the in class clicker questions. You get assigned groups the first day, but talk to him if you hate them. Do the group work in class and out and there's an A.
Brother Turcott is a great teacher. Some of his group projects are time-consuming, but he explains things really well and his tests are not very hard. He offers extra credit. Class time helps you learn and the assignments don't take too long. I would recommend Brother Turcott. The class is really thought-provoking.
I was not looking forward to this class AT ALL, but I ended up really enjoying my time there. Bro Turcotte is just the sweetest thing since apple pie and he is always willing to help you out if you encounter a problem with the homework or the i-clicker. He teaches with the Spirit and is so patient in explaining the concept. Take his class!
Beginning Physics Lab was a really easy class, but I learned how to calculate error. It's a bit frustrating because you only apply one or two of the equations he has you read about, but the labs are fun. He knows physics, but makes mistakes on the quizzes. He's a very sweet man, willing to answer any questions you have, even on the final lab!
Do not, I repeat DO NOT!!!!!! take this professor for math for the real world. He doesn't give enough time to finish his in class assignments and he will grade them and not give you more time even though the whole class didn't finish them. For his I-Clicker Quizzes he expects you to do problems that had nothing to do with the lessons or homeworks.
Good teacher. Attending class is recommended since every class has clicker questions and in-class group assignments. A computer would also be wise to bring since he really likes to use excel. Very willing to try to explain it so that you understand and is willing to understand how you can to your conclusion.
Brother Turcotte is awesome. You can learn a lot from him just by how he carries himself.
Brother Turcotte is a nice guy. I think he's so smart it makes him a bit awkward though. His class has so much busy work, but you can pretty much google. the answers without actually having to do all the reading. You'll need an iClicker. I would recommend him. He isn't half bad.
Extremely nice guy. I wish he taught other classes that I could take. He was pretty straight forward. Not very interesting but you can tell he is pretty smart and loves to teach.
Brother Turcotte is by far the best science foundations teacher at BYU-I. If you do the reading and are in class for the clicker questions you will be golden on the exams. I read reviews on every teacher before I found this wonderful gem of a man. I've refereed over four friends to take the class all of which have received or will receive and A.
He's an awesome teacher. There's a reasonable amount of work, and the tests are pretty easy. I would totally recommend him! He's extremely understanding and is totally willing to work with his students.
he is a great teacher! very didatic. You will never get bored in his class because he makes you do cool stuff. Definitely recommended. If you do the homework... you are set
You can tell off the back that Bro. T has a passion in what he's teaching and in the gospel. He is very knowledge. If you do the homework and are in class everyday for clicker questions you're set. He's clear in the review making the exam easy! Take Him :)
do the prep work and show up to class and it'll be a walk in the park. really enjoyed Bro. T's class. he is the nicest teacher on campus!
Brother Turcotte was a good teacher. Easy class. If you do the work and the clicker questions, should be an easy A.
Fantastic teacher! Brother Turcotte helped me to improve myself and my love for science! Really chill and as long as you do your work this class is going to be a breeze!
So chill and relaxed! Must attend class though since you have classwork to turn in at the end of class. Otherwise, super easy as long as you keep up with the homework due before class.
Pretty easy class if you just do all of the assignments. Seemed like a lot of busy work though. Very interested in science and was helpful when I needed it.
This class was pretty easy but he had a LOT of busy work. He does i-clicker questions and has group assignments everyday. He is kind of boring teacher but its an easy class.
This is a very easy class but there will be a lot of busy work. Class attendance is required because he does clicker questions at the beginning of class, which are graded. He's a nice guy and easy to understand.
I pretty much dreaded going to this class. It is super easy and Brother Turcotte is willing to help you. You only have 2 tests but about 4-6 assignments per week. It was terribly boring and I felt like I learned this material in 2nd grade. Brother Turcotte is not engaging, but he is willing to help you.
Didn't know a thing about physics when taking this class. Came out with an A-. Hard to understand some comments but he always asks for input from his students to try and help us all learn well. After hours were very helpful. Uses the iClicker for attendance and participation points. EASY GRADING! Seriously. Take him. Learn lots and get a good grade
Do not take this class from Mr. Turcotte. He is very kind and nice, but terrible at teaching. He doesn't give clear answers or lectures, almost the entire semester I had no idea what he was talking about. Questions you receive on the tests only match up with material he gives you to study by a little bit. He doesn't give clear equations or guides.
Brother Turcotte is awesome! The work load was the exact same every week, and I always knew what was expected by me. Only 1 midterm and one final exam. He is also one of the nicest people on the earth. I had trouble accessing an assignment, and he helped me through and emailed me a week later to make sure I had figured it out. Very nice man!
Covered a wide spread of material, worked in assigned groups all semester. Take notes on what he talks about for the study guides, it will help you pass. All work is repetitious, the laminated page you buy isn't really necessary. Felt like a lot of the lecture wasn't relevant, asked questions on untaught material that no one knew the answers to.
Brother Turcotte is very smart. He has a tough time teaching to the needs of his students. He doesn't "teach" so much as touch on key points (at light-speed). I was left in the dust after chapter 3. He grades very easily, but interactive teaching is entirely non-existent. If you aren't a physics wiz then look for a different teacher.
I LOVE HIM! The work load is very consistent and he never gives busy work, in class activities are fun and doable. If you have a heavy work load and need an FDSCI class, take him! he is clear cut and to the point with everything, Very personable and a great person! Invites the spirit into class and encouraged questions and learning.
He doesn't teach very clearly and tends to rush through the material, but he is also very helpful and very approachable if you ever have any questions or if you get behind.
Brother Turcotte was a great teacher. His teaching isn't the most understandable but his grading makes up for it. If you give your best effort he will notice and help you.
Turcotte is a fine professor, nothing really out of the ordinary. He does exactly what you expect from him. This class is pretty straightforward and gives a good start to Python coding. His tests seem tough but he gives insane amounts of partial credit. The only complaint I have is that he doesn't really lecture much, but otherwise he's fine.
Bro. Turcotte is a great guy. Just a solid, likable guy. His lectures are a little fast, but he is very approachable. He clearly goes over everything that would be on the test. No surprises. He has two workbook days a week. That is where I learned it all.
He's a very nice guy, but this intro robotics course is extremely difficult. You mostly work as a group, so if your group doesn't put any work in, like mine, you suffer.
I enjoyed the class very much and he cares about his students. He designs his class to get the students to learn and pass the class. He provides cool, real life applications and I was engaged. I learned a lot and enjoyed going to his class. Sometimes he moved a little fast, but he was always willing to drop everything and answer your questions.
Brother Turcotte is a good teacher. The preparations for the classes are tough but if you study for them every day you won't have problem passing. He also sees if you are trying hard in his class and he will help you.
Very fair grader. Our group had difficulty on an assignment and called him over. He couldn't figure it out at the time, so he looked at it overnight and then found out it was too difficult for the class, so he gave us full points.
I loved Intro to Robotics. It was so much fun! Everything you do is with the same group all semester, and you need to be there in class. You only have a single class period each week, but there is a makeup lab every Thursday evening that I found we had to attend each week (like almost every other group). The class and the work were very fun!
Brother Turcotte is the best! You can tell that he wants you to understand and to do well in his class. His lectures are super great as he will often have demonstrations that show the concept that is being learned. So far the best professor I've ever had.
For this being my first semester back in school, Brother Turcotte was super nice. When questions were asked, he knew the answer. He responded to emails or concerns. His tests arent too terrible, unless you dont study for them of course. Over all he is a great teacher.
He makes Physics easy. Lectures with examples, lets you do examples with groups and explains it after. Test prep, gives you study guide with what will be on test, nothing unexpected, Gives partial credit for write on. Caring guy, and you'll learn. He wants you to succeed and will do all he can to help.
Bro Turcotte is almost the literal professor from Ferris Bueller. His favorite answer to use for student questions is kind of and then talk in circles. Basically, just rely on the (ton of) readings, dont ask questions, and get participation grades for coming to class. Beware of pop-up enrichment papers.
Brother Turcotte didn't really guide the instruction in-class, he was there more to introduce and facilitate the labs and to answer questions if we had them. He was understanding and if you didn't get things right away he would help you out, but most of the class relied on you working with your own group.
Brother Turcotte is the most reasonable professor on campus at BYUI. He teaches very clearly and will answer any questions you have. He is available outside of class and will help you understand what you don't. The homework is not difficult. I did not get very much from the numerical assignments but they are not too bad. Great sense of humor. Best
Don't take him for 150, but definitely for others. The homework and tests seem really intimidating and make you think hard but he grades so leniently you basically can't fail. He gives a lot of partial credit for almost nothing and he answers questions well. When we had to transition to remote he gave us 100% for just showing up from then on.
Professor Turcotte is incredibly helpful. He's always posting tutorials or videos to help you through physics problems. Physics is hard but he makes it bearable.
Brother Turcotte is my favorite professor at BYU-Idaho. I wish every professor would grade things the way he does. He understands how difficult physics can be and he wants to help you not only pass the class but excel in the class. Ask him questions and keep asking until you get the answer you are looking for. half credit for wrong MC questions.
Brother Turcotte is the man! Super laid back guy who wants you to succeed in physics. He has videos prepared to explain the few homework assignments that he assigns each week. His lectures are engaging and he gives you credit for going to class. I would strongly recommend taking physics from Brother Turcotte.
Honestly, this class was difficult for me just because I am not very good at building robotic parts. His class is set up in a way that is difficult to fail, and even when you do, there are makeup labs. He is very understanding and just wants you to be able to show that your robot works even though it's not perfect. The TA's are amazing as well.
I like Brother Turcotte as a teacher. He's like a super physics smart but soft natured guy. Lecture 3 days and work days for 2 days in the week. He teaches well, at a good pace for me, and will pause to help students understand things. He grades pretty leniently and helps us with homework problems that are hard. Online textbook.
This class is very difficult. It is a lot of work and that is just the reality of physics. Brother Turcotte helps you succeed and is very understanding and has mercy when grading. He is very kind and I would love to take another class from him.
Professor Turcotte makes this challenging physics class manageable. His lectures are clear, and he's always willing to help students understand. Using Unstuck study and the online textbook, I was able to succeed.
He cares and is very accessible to students. There is online hw that is time consuming. In class we have a lecture with clicker questions and on certain days we do group assignments. Because of the group assignments, you get to know the whole class and everyone is friends. Loved the class atmosphere!
