kind of an awkward goofy guy... seems like he's trying really hard but he's really nice... gives fairly easy tests though
He is a good teacher. Kinda clumsy but that doesn't effect teaching. Is very nice and helpful.
Dr. Wagner is an amazing professor. I don't know how he does it but he does a great job of making the boring material interesting. He's fair and gives wonderful essay tests and always does a review before hand. He's goofy and always bumps into things.. pretty entertaining though.

Believe it or not, Prof. Wagner actually makes art history interesting and his lectures are usually kinda cool. He is extremely easy, as there is barely any graded work, and he is a clear and crisp speaker. If you have the option to take his class, then don't think twice.
Generally, it's art history so of course it has it's dull moments. But, Wagner does attempt to present it in an interesting way. It would be nice if his lectures included participation more, but very very good professor.
he is very clear and the presentations are extremely helpful. he posts each presentation online before class and you can download them to your computer, print off slides or even bring you laptop. always a review before the 2 tests, which are both essays and relativly easy as long as you study. I would highly reccomend him to anyone.
He is very nice and lively. I wouldn't suggest having this course as a 9am, but I would suggest you take him! His lectures are upbeat and he post eveything online, so when it comes to test all material is very accessible.
Wagner made art history about as interesting as it's going to be. I actually had a good time in this class and learned a lot. And reading the book is not totally necessary. His lectures are very clear.
Steven Wagner was very helpful and friendly and always made me feel comfortable in his prescence
Really, really nice guy. Doesn't make you memorize dates! You'll learn from him, for sure. Just don't fall asleep in his class, and you should be smooth sailing. He puts his presentations online, very nice, and types up vocab lists. Requires a group project near the end of the course. Funny, intelligent, easy to talk to guy!
My skills in history are horrible, but his class was the first history class I could actually stay awake in. He is very helpful when it comes to test time. He has a study session before each test. He uses blackboard as if it were the bathroom, he updates it a lot. GREAT TEACHER, strongly encourage him as a professor!!
Prof. Wagner will probably go down as one of my favourte teachers of all my student career. He is very helpful in and outside of the classroom and he is very enthusiastic about the subject. I would STRONGLY recommend Dr. Stephen Wagner.
Great teacher. Be in class, and listen in class=A
Great Professor. Really knows his subject matter and really likes talking about it. The best professors are the ones who are passionate about what they teach, and Wagner definetly is just that. Nothing is on the exam that is not discussed in class- so show up, pay attention and you'll pass with flying colors. DO NOT MISS AN EXAM OR YOU ARE SCREWED
Wagner really knows his history- and makes it pretty interesting. His tests are also pretty easy if you study all of the material on the study guides he posts online.
Good teacher, easy compared to later history classes
great professor. really knows the subject matter. gives power points of notes (you still have to take some additional notes on top of these). very blackboard oriented. lots of extra credit opprotunities. word of advice: best to take not at 8 in the morning. best professor of my three that quarter
Seriously the best History prof Ive ever had. Really easy and clear on assignments and is super slacking on homework. Sweet nice teacher who cares for his students. As long as you study and take notes you'll get an A in the class. I Nearly didn't pass it but thats because I was Lazy. I recommend him to anyone and everyone, a really get professor.
overall good, kept me interested
Great teacher. You'll do fine if you just take notes on the powerpoints in class because he doesn't test you on things he didn't cover. Doesn't make you memorize dates unless they're important and goes easy on the survey classes. He's a lot of fun and excited about what he teaches. He's very amicable.
Doctor Wagner is an awesome art history teacher. Doesnt ask much in the way of memorization. No dates, just major time periods. He focuses more on being able to analyze and explain art rather than date it. Keeps you very interested and always has a positive and helpful attitude. Great Professor!
Very good professor. I haven't taken any art history classes and Survey I was my first ever class like this. Prof. Wagner knows his stuff, so it's easy to understand his thought process. Has powerpoint presentations each class, but its very helpful. He lets know you what's on the exams, and the exams are very easy if you study the material
Easy. Interesting. Very helpful. Print out his powerpoint slides, and take simple notes on each image. No need for the textbook. He has a paper due, but if you turn it in a bit early and ask what to change, it's an easy A. He will let you rewrite it if it's bad. He says no phones but just keep it hidden and he doesnt care.HIGHLY recomended.
He doesn't make you memorize dates, makes very clear powerpoint presentations to study from. Super passionate about art history and is sure to let you know what you need to know for tests. Some complained about his standards with essays, but you just have to write well and he'll let you do rewrites. Looks like Wayne Knight :D
Part 1: Wagner was a great professor and is really passionate about teaching! I definitely recommend him if you want an easier art history. He is a very fair and generous grader on tests. If you give your best effort to answer a question he'll usually give partial credit. His essay standards are higher but lets you rewrite if you do poorly.
Part 2: By any means the essay is still not hard. If you try your best or even just put in a decent amount of effort you will get an A in the class. Also he is very understanding..my friend past away and I had to miss an exam.. He says there are no make-up tests he obviously let me make it up when I was ready. I would take him again for sure!
Prof. Wagner is a great professor. You should come to every class so you get all the information since a lot is packed into one class. He really knows his stuff and is a pleasure to learn from, except I had his class at 8AM so it was hard to stay awake. He does not make you memorize dates or many artists. I really recommend this guy!
Great teacher. Everything is based off of his lectures. Pay attention in class and you'll get an easy A. 1 writing assignment, but if you give it to him early asking for advice he will probably give you an A in the final draft. Exams need to be studied for. Easy quizzes. Made art history an enjoyable class :)
understand that everyone isn't just magically amazing at art history, he gives you a tons of ex credit opportunities & is more than willing to have meetings with you to try and pull up your grade-passionate about history! i honestly hate history and after getting in the 60s on my 1st test I thought i would fail his class, but i ended up with an A!
I had Professor Wagner for Survey of Art History 1. He made the class AWESOME! His class is a lecture class but so is any ARTH class you take. He is very easy going and offers countless extra credit opportunities and everything on his exams are clear in his lectures. He is very intelligent and funny and a great Professor in general.
Favorite Professor ever! He is the best. Intelligent, good communication, everything on exams are covered in lectures. Many extra credit opportunities if you're a bad exam taker. Extremely fair and makes boring material fun and exciting. Would love to take him again if he taught Survey 2.
Dr. Wagner is really a great teacher. He focuses on the importance of history rather than testing you on silly things like dates. He made it fun. He has a cute dry sense of humor that I love. His tests were take-home essays which allowed for no stress plus you learned something new reading the articles. I deserved a C in this class and got an A.
Wagner is great! He makes his lectures actually interesting and easy to follow. Best part is you don't need to remember dates! He is very nice and likes to crack silly jokes. His tests are not easy but not extremely hard either. He also gives tons of opportunities for extra credit which is awesome. Very good class. Learned a lot for sure.
Boring class, but great professor. His tests are fairly easy as long as you take notes, pay attention, and study. Cramming doesn't really work so well, at least not with me. TONS of extra credit opportunities. He's a nice guy with a decent sense of humor. You can tell he loves his job and art history.
Great class, great professor! You can't really cram for his tests, but his lectures cover everything you need to know, so take notes! He doesn't require you to remember dates and only a handful of names. Also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Cute, fun sense of humor, ask him about Assassin's Creed and art history!
GREAT teacher! Funny and makes class really interesting. Really cares that students understand the material. Very available for help, and gives extra credit. Good notes go a long way for the tests. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!
Wagner is great, and really loves what he teaches. You will not have to memorize dates or long lists of facts. You do learn a lot. He is always willing to help you. Easy grader, but does grade a little harshly on the one paper you have to write. I would recommend him highly to anyone and everyone. Great guy!!!!
Professor Wagner is VERY enthusiastic about Art History and is especially well versed in the Medieval period. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities, gives very clear and concise information and interesting videos to watch. Take good notes and read your chapters and you will do well. Very nice man and a good teacher.
Swagner is an amazing teacher. He gives elegantly worded explanations of material, and conveys the lessons in a very easy to understand fashion. Highly recommend
Such a wonderful guy. I was not interested in this class at all but have ended up loving it. He does not make you memorize dates and is very fair with grading. Also if you dont understand something he emails you back right away. He loves what he does and it shows. TAKE HIM
Wagner is aware of the negative preconceptions of ARTH and truly puts in the effort to make it interesting. As long as you listen in class and take basic notes it's not hard to get a good grade. He wants you to understand the CONCEPTS and make connections. It isn't a memorize and regurgitate facts kind of class which is refreshing. Really good guy.
A really nice guy who tries to generate some interest and keep the atmosphere lively. There's little memorization in his class, and the quizzes are simple, or based on applying the ideas/concepts learned. More focus on artistic conventions and trends than actual pieces. It was an interesting class and a much needed breather in a congested schedule.
He is super helpful. I had his first quarter freshman year. He is a good guy to help you assimilate.
I really enjoyed his class. His tests were easy, and I was honestly interested in his lectures. Very helpful, and gives tons of extra credit opportunities.
His class is very easy. All exams except for the final are essays you do outside of class with your textbook. You get quizzes in class which are usually also really easy. Overall, not a bad class, but I wouldn't suggest taking an 8 am because he tends to be a bit dry.
My favorite professor at SCAD, hands down. So passionate about art history, which really shows in his lectures. They are well constructed and well delivered, and he focuses predominately on larger themes and artistic techniques rather than memorization and regurgitation. Very helpful, really wants students to enjoy the class and do well.
Hands down my favorite history class I've ever taken. Professor Wagner is not only super passionate about his work, but his classes are fun, the lectures are easy enough to keep up with, and he really cares about his students' success. When it comes to the subject matter, dates and names are not really important, its more about concepts and context
Professor Wagner knows what he is talking about and is really passionate about it. I took him at 8 in the morning, which can be tough, but he knows that students are prone to fall asleep at 8 ams, so he helped us stay awake with active conversations about the artwork, interesting activities, and joke. But he is not someone to mess around with!
Probably my favorite professor at SCAD, if not ever. Swagner is engaging, passionate about the subject, and really makes class fun. He also looks more at effort and participation rather than your ability to take tests when grading. Just a really great teacher.
One of the best professors Ive ever had. I was terrified of this class and he made it so much easier. He makes study guides, gives endless amounts of extra credit, gives take home essays that can save your grade, and has great notes/powerpoints. He's the best and if you're in his 8AM if you miss(oversleep) it he will let you come to his next class
HANDS, DOWN. MY FAVORITE ART HISTORY PROFESSOR. Believe me, I had zero interest in art history, none whatsoever. But Professor Wagner really engaged me with his hearty cheerful persona and amazing lectures. You can tell the man is passionate about art history that's for sure. Gives a dozen extra credit opportunities, easy A
I had his class at 8AM and it was a challenge. I almost failed because of absences, and it's really hard to stay awake. Even so, I don't regret taking him at all! He's so passionate about his subject, and such a cordial person. He makes you want to do better.
This class was amazing, I would take him again. He really wants you to succeed and gives many chances to better your grade. My first test I got a 70 on and my final grade in the class was an A!
Pretty easy in-class exams, a few really simple quizzes, and then 2 take home exams (essays). Really helpful if you have any questions. no final exam, just a group presentation. I'm also really bad with history in general, but he makes it interesting. No need to memorize dates or locations.
Great professor. He makes history really interesting. The class was easy thanks to the two take home tests. If you have him at 8am try staying awake because he doesn't like it when people fall asleep.
Professor Wagner is great! He makes learning dry artwork interesting and involved. He also gives many extra credit opportunities. If you take notes and pay attention you can get an A in this class. Highly recommend him.
Swaggy Waggy is the best professor I have ever had the pleasure of taking a class with. I'd take all my classes with him. Get ready to read a lot, because his tests require lots of infotmation. But the man is an incredible professor.
Swagner is great and super easy! Just don't take him at 8am because he keeps the lights off the whole time and you WILL fall asleep lol
Professor Wagner is such a nice guy, but if you don't love art history, do not take this class. Lectures were long, essays were harshly graded, and it took a lot of motivation to go to class each day. Wagner will help you out and give lots of extra credit, so it's not hard, but you will be bored each day, and be fighting to stay awake in class.
VERY HARD CLASS. 2 exams along with 2 take home exams (essay's) & a final group project. Study guides are 6-10 pages, for the 2nd exam you had to know 49 emperors, 95 vocab/terms, 91 pieces of art and a total of 364 facts for the art pieces and he only shows you 10 pieces of art out of the 91. Essay's are graded VERY thoroughly.
He is a great professor that knows a lot about art history and is a very clear grader with very few assignments and basically no homework.
You don't need the textbook if you go to class. The exams were easy if you study. I found his teaching methods to be very engaging and I retained the information easily. He offers a LOT of extra credit too. I don't understand how some reviews say the class was hard, he sets you up for success pretty well.
Professor Wagner was a really nice guy! I'm not much of a history person and I tend , but I got by fairly well without too much studying. He only gives two tests and two take home exams which was great, especially if you're not a great test taker like me. Only thing i had a hard time with was the lectures at 8AM but what can you do.
I loved learning from and getting to know Professor Wagner. He genuinely cares about each of his students and wants them to learn about what he's teaching.
really nice guy with easy but respectable assignments, you will learn and not stress out
Really passionate about art history, lectures are interesting and thorough. Textbook is required and you'll have reading for homework. The online weekly quizzes are easy, online, and open book, so if you do well on these you're all set. He grades the papers thouroughly, so no bs-ing your way through those.
Wagner is a LEGEND! He is so knowledgeable about the middle ages and he's made me fall in love with the medieval era. This class is my favorite art history class I've ever taken.
Wonderful fellow, clearly passionate about art history and his lectures are interesting. Open book/open note quizzes that you don't have to study for, then one big final exam that you DEFINITELY have to prepare for. Two essays that are a bit challenging, and he grades them thoroughly. Don't text in class, do your best and you'll be fine.
Swagner is awesome. Just make sure you take all your quizzes, and you will be fine. He gives SO many extra credit opportunities. He really enjoys the subject, so it makes the class more bearable even at 8 am.
Yes, he is a very nice man. But his lectures are not even close to being interesting. And it's just lecturing all the time. Few chances to participate. And he uses guilt on you if you look bored or don't do the work, like you're supposed to do the work for his sake because he's so nice. I don't get why so many people think he's so great.
He likes to do this thing where he will not explain what he wants then tell you hes disappointed in you for it following it. Chicago heavy and does not help struggling students with it. I dont get why hes so worshipped on here.
Swagner was incredible. Just dont be a dummy and youll do great. He makes it possible for everyone to get an A if you do extra credit and try your best. Unlimited extra points on midterm/ final. Expectations are very clear. he lets people rewrite bad essays. Final not hard if you study a little. He is very sweet and wants to see you succeed.
Wagner is nice, and knows a lot about the middle ages, but he panders to his class by making things easy. Then he begged for us to give him good evaluations, and tells us that we have to because he made it easy for us to get an A. I thought that was lame.
Every class is the same, show up and listen to his lectures. We took a couple field trips. If you take his class in the fall, you can go to the Greek Festival, which is fun (I took in winter, so I didn't get that opportunity). He only has four assigments not including participation, so study for your midterm and final well.
He's a very nice guy and makes art history a lot more bearable. He expects a lot from the essays and he's very picky when it comes to spelling and grammar. The good thing is that if you send him your work beforehand, he will give you feedback before you turn it in. He's always there to help you and he's always in a great mood. Take him if you can.
This class extremely lecture heavy, and you will definitely be bored, but Professor Wagner is a sweetheart. Every other week you have a quiz, and on the weeks you don't, you have a discussion post. That's it, that's all the assignments you do. I would make sure you answer the whole prompt for the discussion posts.
Professor is a nice guy, class assignments are easy, and class is interesting if you like art history. Some people will say the lectures are boring, but its an art history class and I dont think theres any way around that. Just take basic notes and the class will be easy.
The class was lecture heavy and it was overall an easy course until you start the paper. The professor barely helps you understand the content and leaves feedback that isnt helpful, I am a pro writer and put most of my papers through a grammar correcting app but it wasnt good enough for him. I wouldnt take this guy again.
I really appreciated the time and energy that the professor dedicated to the class, his passion for the subject was truly encouraging and inspiring! Truly wanted the students to do well, gave many opportunities for extra credit and great feedback
Lectures were engaging with a good mix of talking, videos, and fun stories. Most of the reading was at the front of the class, which worked out well for me. Quizzes weren't hard if you payed attention and he wants you to do well. Overall a good experience!
Professor Wagner did really well with trying to keep the course varied by incorporating videos and in-class activities during lectures. I appreciated the virtual tours of historical monuments. The class is reading heavy but quizzes are open notes, so the hardest part is keeping up with all the reading. He offers extra credit throughout the course.
Just take him, he's really passionate about his class, informative, and kind. Engaging but lecture-heavy, he does have some in-class activities. He does care if you pay attention, and you will have to take a lot of notes for the midterm test and the final. Good if you like art history, good if you don't. Also ends class around 10mins early
Fantastic professor, this was a great class. It was a content-heavy course but he gave us a good amount of non-test grading opportunities and take-home essays. You do have to study for the midterm and final test but he gives you a study guide, just memorize those terms and art pieces. We barely had any homework, and he gives plenty of extra credit.
Professor Wagner was absolutely amazing. Was so kind to every student and was so passionate about art and the history of it. Always made class fun with group projects and debates. Highly recommend him for Pre-Modern Global Perspectives
Professor Wagner is a dry lecture teacher but does try to make the class interesting through group discussions. While he is a harsh grader, if you do another draft of your final paper, he'll up your grade substantially. If you're interested in the subject, take him. If not, then seek out a less lecture-heavy professor.
The lectures can be a bit long and boring at times but hes really nice and tries to keep it interesting, friendly and cares for students. I wouldnt say its an easy class, you have to put in some effort to get a good grade on the tests and you GOTTA take notes in class, dont rely on the PowerPoints. But he is a really great teacher :)
Wagner is a very chill art history professor. He seemed to understand most of us were just there for the credit. You are graded with writing assignments. One for each exam (2) and then your overall research paper. Ask him for help and send your stuff in early he will give you notes and regrade before the due date.
Honestly was the highest rated professor I had out of all my classes so I had high hopes. Showed up and the class was pure lectures and an unbelievably small amount of grading opportunities. If you're not good at test taking then you wont do well in this class. Passive aggressive remarks during presentations and not an understanding grader at all.
This class was not good at all. Tough grader and barely anything to be graded on. Not sure why so many 5 star reviews. Only lectures in class that were tedious and hard to follow at times.
He lectures for most of the class and is monotone, its hard to stay awake especially during an early class. You have two finals, not open note, about 50 pieces of art along with facts about each. For the final you have an essay too. You have two open note quizzes. Sometimes he is particulate on the most random things. If you study you'll do ok.
He fell asleep during a student group presentation. It's not worth it to cater to his grading rubric, I'm not sure he looks at it. He won't give feedback of any substance aside from picking apart what he doesn't like or saying it's confusing without elaborating. He grades too harshly and the medieval class is uninteresting. Take something else.
This professor is a tough grader with little to no assignments. The tests are memory based so don't take him if you have bad memory or test anxiety. For the exam reviews, we were told to study one thing but the test was on something completely different. The lectures were hard to follow along. He used SmartHistory videos which were helpful.
Very kind man, I enjoyed his 121. Entire class very easy and he was knowledgeable. The only problem was his criteria around the midterm wasn't clear- but everything else was fine. Just make sure to do a study session with his slides before an important test. Otherwise, just pay attention and you'll do fine- little note taking needed.
This class is decent. Super lecture heavy but if I'm being honest I never paid attention to them. I took this class online so all of the assignments were open note quizzes and one 3-5 page essay. He was a strict grader on the essay but other than that it wasn't a bad class. A bit boring so if you get bored quickly I wouldn't recommend it.
Wagner is easily my most memorable Professor here, I've had him for both CTXT 121/122, and I'm so sad that this is my last class with him, he makes a lecture class less like a snooze-fest, and shows lots of videos to keep us engaged. Him teaching 122 is pretty rare, and I'm so lucky I got in! Take his class, you wont regret it!
Dr. Wagner has a great passion for art history that translates well into his classes. Most of the class is lecture, with one group project and two quizzes besides the midterm/final. He manages to make history lectures engaging and enjoyable, and is able to keep the mood lighthearted by cracking a couple jokes in between. Very nice, respectful man!
Im not one for writing reviews, but I did not like this professor. HE IS SUCH A TOUGH GRADER! Especially for a foundations course! Me and the other students couldn't catch a break, his class is also painfully uninspiring and content heavy. He is a nice guy, and is funny but I found his class to be way to demanding.
In my experience, his class is fairly easy & powerpoint heavy but not a lot of information that you can get lost in. He provides the powerpoint so you can easily go back to & his tests are open book. He will answer to any questions you would have regarding the lesson. I remember only having one test per week & an essay due by the end of quarter.
Stephen Wagner was one of my first professors at SCAD, and he set a wonderful first impression. You could tell he was genuinely passionate about the subject, and it showed through his eager lectures. He was friendly and easy to approach, and never felt intimidating. The amount of info given will keep you busy, you will need to take lots of notes!
Took Design in Medieval Europe. If you are not an art history major and are just taking the class as an elective for credit, DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is a tough grader and gives feedback like you are an art history major. His feedback and comments were extremely harsh and it felt like he was attacking me. I have more to say, but there is a word limit.
Very powerpoint/lecture heavy and you want to be present for these because he gives a lot of additional context in class. 2 normal quizzes (+ midterm n final) and 3 group projects. He's nice but you are going to want to polish up your memorization skills because of all the different time periods/works of art you'll be covering. would reccomend tho
This class was very lecture-heavy, but he does give more context outside of the presentation slides. Had to deal with a lot of writing assignments this quarter. Gave a weekly essay to count as attendance for async students and a final comparative essay at the end. Was a tough grader on the rough draft of the essay and slightly less on the final.
This class is a complete waste of your time and money. Do not take his class if you're genuinely interested in art history and want to get your money's worth. He reads information straight off of a packet the whole class and his delivery is painfully boring. He relies on videos half the time and copies test questions straight from quizlet.
His number one flaw is favoritism of specific parts in history. He spent so much time on Europe that we couldn't learn about Japan, which was annoying. Overall its an easy class though, you can even do other class work while listening because its that easy. NO phones allowed, no sleeping either.
If you're looking for a fairly easy class, Wagner is great. All tests and quizzes are open note, and you can get by without doing the assigned readings he gives. Just make sure to pay attention in class and you should do fine. He often reads off his own notes and shows videos, which can get a bit boring at times.
Stephen Wagner was very good! His class is pretty much ALL lecture, but that's okay because it's fascinating. If you participate and engage with the course material you'll be a-okay. (Plus the tests are open note and super easy :)
His slide deck's could use some work, but Swagner is so unintentionally funny. His class is so easy and there are only a few in class assignments. You definitely don't need to read the textbook in order to succeed. There are 2 quizzes + a mid-term and final exam (these 2 each have a 500 word essay). All quizzes and exams are take home/open book.
Don't let the name Swagner fool you. He will read off a sheet of paper in a monotone voice the entire class, has only images in a slideshow, and then plays videos for the information he doesn't feel like talking about. Class was super easy, a couple quizzes, midterm and a final (all open note), but not worth having to listen to him yap for 2.5hrs.
Plays videos (crash course, khan academy, etc.) instead of teaching information, and will read straight from the textbook. Face down in a sheet of paper all class. Literally. You're better off buying the text and reading it yourself, you'll learn more. Unorganized and unprofessional CONSISTENTLY throughout the quarter. Not worth the easy A.
Please avoid this professor at all costs. The entire class Wagner would read off of a sheet of paper and every follow-up question was answered with "I don't know." The quizzes were open notes and online but questions were non-specific and hard to understand. You may think you want a class where you do nothing, but it was painfully boring.
Wagner is truly the best! He is so kind and clearly cares about his students he makes lectures interesting, and the class overall has a great atmosphere. He always looks out for his students, and will always help you if you ask, he gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and is really funny, he is also always open to opinions and ideas!
His class was very easy to take but it is very lecture-heavy. His tests are open notes but still make sure to study. Pay attention to the side notes he talks about because they can be helpful later on in the unit. He is funny without trying and he is super kind.
Professor Wagner was such a sweet heart. He obviously wanted to make the class as fun as possible, and did everything he could to do that. Expect to take notes based on what he says, not the PowerPoint. Almost all lectures, but his passion for art history shines through and makes it so interesting. This class will only be miserable if you make it.
Wagner is a lecture-heavy professor. The only issue I saw with his class was his style of lecturing. He did not talk based on what was on his slides and referenced a sheet of paper that the class could not read. Besides that, he was a good professor with a good sense of humor. I would for sure be fine with having another one of his classes.
He was an amazing prof. I loved his class although it was very lecture heavy but that is art history for you. There were some good group projects thrown in there and the midterm and final were easy. just pay attention take notes and you will do fine. He is a great prof and anyone would be lucky to take his class. We love you Swagner!
Swagner is an incredibly kindhearted and funny guy and was an absolute pleasure to have during my first quarter at SCAD. As with most ctxt and arth classes, he will lecture for a while, but most of his lectures are pretty engaging. He isn't very picky when grading, and everything is take home and open note.
Professor Wagner's CTXT121 class is a mostly lecture-based but fascinating course. While attendance is mandatory, the tests are open-note and fairly easy. Engage with the material, and you'll do well. unstuck study was a big help for studying alongside the textbook.
Wagner is awesome, my gripe is not with him. My problem lies with the course itself. It's titled "Christians, Barbarians, Kings, and Emperors." I took this class more excited for the barbarians and king stuff, but it leans VERY heavily on the Christian stuff. Not much else. Lots of learning about Bibles and churches.
Great professor! His lectures are in depth and engaging, and he's passionate. He does give out group projects though. They're incredibly simple and quick but they do exist. The tests are also super easy. It's take home with open notes, so if you're looking for an easy A, take him.
His class was so easy and he was also a very nice person. He had reading hws for every class but he doesn't even check them and lowkey no one reads them anyways. Quizzes were all open everything. He also gave many extra credit opportunities. He does call you out if you're looking at your phone or dozing off but like bro atp j skip the class lol.
I loved professor Wagner! He's very easy going and laid back. His lectures can be a bit boring, and you will have to present in front of the class but only once. Other than that he's a really chill and nice professor.
He is really old, with SCAD for 21 years. I never had to work for his class, 20% of the grade in in-class exercises. 3 open-book online quizzes, the midterms, and the finals. He has 8 am, he is slow, and you can't pay attention, he is really sweet, but boring. So if you don't care about CTXT, take it.
Professor Wagner can barely hear but besides that this class was the easiest thing ever. I took my 122 before 121 which was probably not the best idea but I had a lot of knowledge from that class that didn't cover much but was still more than the rest of the class. He's super kind, and really understandable with a total of 2 quizzes and 2 exams.
He is an incredible professor!
Great professor! He's really kind and passionate about everything he teaches.
