Super chill nerdy HILARIOUS guy. NM attendance, but you will miss group assignments (that are fun and easy), daily quizzes(based on readings that he gives you) and test notes. YOU WILL MAKE AN A IF YOU ATTEND ALL THE LECTURES- his notes are literally answers for his tests. Sometimes gives free 100s for quizzes. Unexpectedly had fun in his class!
Go to class and complete the reading assignments. Gives a lot of oppurtunies for grades but you have to show up! Wagner is strict but fair. He wants you to learn and do well. Overall a good professor, tests are comprehensive and lengthy. He is very encouraging to students and never boring.
Mr. $wagner is the BEST professor ever! He is extremely funny in his dorky way. There is a quiz (five questions) every time before class, and sometimes they are freebies so don't miss class! Class discussions are AWESOME. read and notecards, his tests come from his lectures and vocab from book. Would take him again!!
There are online quizzes due every class over reading. The test and essays were difficult because we spent most of the time in class talking about random things. Lectures really went off topic. You basically teach yourself. He is smart and attempts to make the class fun but I wish we stayed more on topic.
Extremely weird teaching style. Sits in the corner of the room and talks about irrelevant stories in his life and then eventually goes back to teaching. Grades very harshly. Tests are hard. Never enough time for group work, and if you don't finish he takes points off. Online quiz almost everyday. No extra credit.
His call was very different, he would really get off topic all the time but are exams are over his notes. his hand writing is hard to read and i could never tell when he was saying useful information. take GOOD notes or else you wont past test. I hated my life in that class.
There is a online quiz due before each class. Have to write two, three page essays (single spaced). He is a tough grader and his tests are long (100 questions). Make sure to show up to class because he randomly gives group work. I would not recommend this class.
This class was very difficult. He is an extremely hard grader and doesn't offer any extra credit. There is a reading due with a quiz every class period. Going to class is required but we often get off topic so it is pointless. There is 3 single spaced, 3 page papers due with difficult requirements to meet. I definitely don't recommend this class.
This is the hardest classi has taken at UCO! His tests are extremely long and require you to memorize basically the whole book. Quizzes every day! His essays are difficult. He grades really tough and does not give any extra credit. Avoid at all costs!!
This class is RIDICULOUS! Way too difficult for a gen Ed course. He expects us to do the readings then gives quizzes every day! His tests are even worse- expects you to remember 20 different dates, quotes from readings and ideas discussed in class! He always got of topic but somehow expects us to do well on the tests? WORST CLASS EVER!!!!!
He is a funny guy but thats irrelevant when everybody in the class is failing. His tests are beyond difficult and he provides the study guide a week before but you still have to find the info because he clearly does not discuss it in class. What a waste of time and money! Would NOT recommend to anybody!
Mr. Wagner was great! This class is very difficult though. He assigns readings with an online quiz before most classes, but the readings are interesting and entertaining. He grades papers extremely tough, but follow the guidelines and he will help you out. The tests are hard. Attend every class period! Only way to get the group work done.
If you want to memorize the whole book which includes maps, dates, quotes, definitions, and pictures then this class is for you. There are no makeups on group work(which are random), so you have to show up to class. He also has you do a online quiz before each class and two three page papers - did I mention they have to be single spaced. Just FYI.
This professor is wonderful. He not only cares about the subject he is teaching, but he ties humor into ever lesson. He is a fair grader and inspires you to do better. This is a class you will learn in, but do the reading- it's crucial to success.
Wagner is a fun and informative professor. If you pay attention in class, read the selections, take notes and stay on top of assignments (You know.. the things you are supposed to do in college..) then his classes are a joy to be in. Class is never dull and he genuinely cares about the subject matter and his students. Wagner is a great professor.
Mr. Wagner's class is an energetic and exciting professor, making participating in lectures and the numerous group projects seamless. There are a considerable amount of pop quizzes, so if a student tends to skip class those grades will add up. Overall, if you read the material and show up, Wagner will make the General Humanities classes funner!!
Wagner is obviously a very smart professor and you can tell he cares a lot about the subject matter he teaches. I learned a lot from his course, but I had to work my butt off the entire time. His grading criteria is nearly impossible to fulfill and can be confusing - just do the best you can. At the end of the day, he's just a zany, passionate guy.
Really smart professor, take him if at all possible. His papers are hard & the exams are long, but you will learn so much in this course if you stay engaged and on-track. I wasn't interested in humanities (more of an analytical guy) before taking Wagner, but he's made me interested. If you don't mind working a little extra to learn a lot, take him.
Mr. Wagner is a great character and an awesome teacher. He's loud, quirky, and funny in a way that might turn off people trying to take things too seriously. He's a tough grader but more than willing to help if asked. And let's face it, teachers should be tough graders. He works to keep the class interesting and really cares about his students.
Professor Wagner is the epitome of that cool professor who will change your life. He is the only professor I had in my undergraduate that made class worth going to. True, he does assign papers and somewhat lengthy tests, but why would you be upset to have someone try to have you learn? Anyway, if I could I would take his class again.
Mr Wagner is so brilliant and makes class so fun. It's not a blow off class, but if you take notes, read the chapters, and do the study guides you'll do great. It's impossible not to be involved in the class and his lectures are so interesting. I didn't make an A but I learned more than I have in many classes while also meeting a super cool person
I enjoyed his philosophy class very much! Yes you have to really work for the grade, but he is an amazing professor, relatable, and super funny!
I really enjoyed his class and would definitely take him again! He interacts with his students and genuinely cares. He is always available if you need anything and is more than happy to help if you put in the work. I learned a lot about humanities and many other subjects as well. I was very happy I took his class.
Easy class if you do your work. You read a lot from the book and from different plays/books and have quizzes over them. Very slow at grading which can be frustrating. He is a funny and nice guy but class can be somewhat boring.
Swagner was pretty fun. Kept me entertained. Got off topic a bit, but it always seemed to happen right when I was feeling like I needed a break from the course material. I failed his class, but that was on me. Just do your work and you'll get through. He's a fairly understanding guy. Also, take notes. I didn't and I wish I would have.
He obviously knows his stuff and he makes it known. He gets very sidetracked when lecturing and classes are mainly spent listening to him go on and on, which I'm not a fan of. His review for tests is a very wide variety, so you basically have to memorize the whole book to make above a D or so on his tests. The reading's are extremely long.
Prof Swagner is a really funny guy, but the class was the toughest I had this semester. A lot of what is on the test is from your in-class notes, but during most of his lectures he rambles off topic. You have to pay close attention and study hard if you want to pass. There is also about 2-3 online quizzes you do weekly over the reading.
Great teacher if you're want to focus on humanities unfortunately this will be the only humanities class most students will take. The papers are hard. Takes off for grammar and the lectures don't really get you prepared for the exams. When going through the study guide you'll most likely have to try find what you can in the book.
This professor is hilarious and he really knows the material. His study guide is all over the place and there are things on it that you have not discussed. He a tough grader on the papers and makes you work for the grade. His graded will make you a better writer but it is difficult to read and apply his feedback.
He certainly knows his stuff - especially pertaining to the Greeks (God bless the Greeks) I can see why some people might not like his sense of humor, but he keeps class fun and interesting and is a pretty straight forward guy. He'll work with you. But do show up to class.
I had no idea what humanities really was before I took this class, but of all the classes that I took that semester, I felt like I learned more from this professor than I had in any other class. This class makes you learn really just how to be a college student! It isnt a hard class, but its not an easy A, you will actually learn something worth it
Wagner is one of my favorite teachers that I have had at UCO. He made every class fun and interesting, and I always looked forward to his class. Be sure to do the readings. They are pretty interesting, so it's not too hard to get through. I highly recommend his class.
The lectures are hilarious and you will never be bored! He has a tendency to get off topic and is a tough grader, but the class is not difficult to pass as long as you do the work. The papers have fun prompts and are not long, but have your grammar checked! Readings for every class, but most are not long. Definitely recommend this professor!
Dr. Wagner is an awesome professor. I took his Humanities class and had I not already taken philosophy, I would've taken him for that, too. He's super funny and class is pretty laid back! Lectures focussed on the book, but it was more like a group discussion. Have to study for tests! Not a lot of homework - just papers. Would highly recommend!
I would take any of his classes over and over again if I could. His class has been the best class I have taken for the past 2 years now. He is an excellent professor. He knows how to make the class fun. I would highly recommend going to class everyday, take notes, and read the book. 100/10 would take the class again
Wagner was just a fantastic professor. While it is true that his class isn't a blow off class, it is easy enough to get an A or B if you actually put in the work. Wagner is hilarious, and will often be heard shouting "you're all going to die" to his students! He is a great teacher who shows a real passion for the subject, and he curves grades, too!
Wagner ended up being one of the best Professors I've had, he's kind, caring, if you have a question its answered genuinely and with thought. I learned for from him then i thought was possible out of an intro class and had a great time doing it. The test are challenging yet graded fairly. The the material is insightful to questions of thought.
Enjoyed his class. the readings are important, if you skipped the reading it will be difficult to follow the lecture. His papers are tough, really know your grammar and punctuation. Overall, he is al good lecturer and very funny. TAKE NOTES, they will help you fill out the study guide. Know and study ALL of the terms and dates on the study guide.
Read, read, read! It is important to keep up with the quizzes and the readings. His papers are fairly easy, but is a tough grader! He rather you show up to class late, rather than not show up at all. Does curve test, but you still need to study and work. Make sure you take plenty of notes from lecture, he does not do powerpoint so PAY ATTENTION.
Do the readings, and keep up with the quizzes. Test are easy if you practice writing out your answer (essay exams). He lectures without using powerpoint, so make sure you write down what he says. Show up to class, even if you're late he wants you to be in class to hear the material. Overall, it was a good class.
Professor Wagner is by far one of my favorite Professors at UCO! As long as you do the work that he asks for, you should pass the class just fine. He also implements a 10 point curve to your final grade which helps. There are weekly readings and quizzes. Class discussions are always interesting. Missing class is not advised.
I adored having Professor Wagner for humanities. He made every lecture interesting and applicable. By the end of the semester, my class felt like family. He truly cares about his students. While he's fun and likes to joke, he is also serious about learning. If you are willing to put in the effort, he is willing to help give you the tools to succeed
Super funny and is willing to work with you if you are having trouble with the class. If you put in effort, it will pay off. Read the book, do the work, and go to class and you will do just fine. Overall a very interesting class!
Funny guy. Classes are a blast. Paper are graded harshly. Will test your writing skills. Make sure to read the book to pass the online quizzes. Teacher is caring and personal. He really wants you to pass.
Wagner is fantastic and really cares about his students all the time. I've taken two different classes with him and would totally recommend any course that he is teaching. He is super hilarious and always has super interesting lectures. Attendance isn't required for a grade, but if you don't go you're in trouble.
it's a tough class, but he's a good guy. when you write a paper, look at the guide. i got docked more than a full letter grade on my 1st one because i barely skimmed it. the class is fun, though, just make sure you show up, pay attention, take in-class notes, do the reading, etc. and STUDY. he curves your final grade by a lot though so don't worry.
You don't have to read the textbook, but it helps a lot on the short quizzes. There are group assignments that you can not make up if you miss class and he does not say when they are. Very funny and wants you to do good. He curves final grades quite a bit.
If you are ready to waste time in class as he drifts from lecture and rambles on and on about his personal life, memorize 25 different dates for tests, have a un clearer study guide, cringe as he tells the same embarrassing stories over and over, write papers that are ridiculously strict on criteria, and decipher his scribbles on the board take him
This professor was one of the best teachers I have ever had. You do have to work for your grade, but it feels like you actually learned something by the end. He grades on a curve but don't expect it to be more than 8-10 points. Overall, I would and have taken this professor again.
Wagner was one of my favorite professors so far. He made class fun and worth attending. I enjoyed his lectures, and learned more than I expected to. Studying for this class is a must, but if you do your part you will succeed.
He knows how to make the material accessible to various kinds of learners and is open to explaining the same concept differently to help students better understand the materials. All assigned readings from required texts are actually discussed thoroughly in class. Unique but totally feasible testing format (Just study). Sharer of fine memes.
Wonderful Professor! Knows SO much about what he is teaching. Is authentically interested in the subject and it shows. Funny and willing to work with you on grades! Helped me a lot and was always willing to chat. Take this Professor! You will not regret it. Attendance is mandatory but he's really lenient with tardy's. helped me a lot.
If youre looking for one of the most interesting humanities professors, than look no further. His classes were never boring and hes gives plenty of opportunity for points, so even if you flub a test youre not doomed. His tests also offer different forms of questioning so even if you flub one part, if you paid some kind of attention you can pass!
took his gen humanities & chose him again to take renaissance to modern for my minor. He gives a lot of opportunities to earn points & is fair when it comes to grading & takes into account your personal life. Down to earth & is funny too boot. Take him. Compared to the others in the department, hes fantastic. Kind of dude I wanna grab a beer with.
It took me a bit to understand his way of teaching, but I figured out the conversational style of teaching and it was simple. To get an easy A in the class, fill out the test study guide, follow paper instructions carefully, take every online quiz, and take notes in class. It's easy if you actually apply yourself because he curves your final grade.
Mr. Wagner has an amazing sense of humor that keeps you engaged in the class. The workload the same as most classes. He provides very clear guidelines for the papers, and for what to expect on the tests. His lectures really helped me piece together a mental timeline of when historical events happened in relation to art. I would take it again!
Hilarious guy, makes class fun. Would definitely take his class again!
Extremely hard grading for a mandatory class. Readings are unnecessarily long and lectures have nothing to do with the tests. He assigns papers that are easy to get bad grades on. The criteria is more difficult than an English class.
Professor Wagner is a great professor! Most of his classes are block classes, therefore it seems like a lot but its 16 weeks packed into 8. There are worksheets over the readings as well as online quizzes, dont miss class! He gives you the essay questions for the midterm and final a week in advance to prepare. Youll get the grade you work for.
He can be a hard teacher, but hes worth it. If you put in the work and show the effort, he will be there for you in the end. For the essays, start early and work hard. Tests - study one section a day at a time for the week thats its available. Overall, I truly enjoyed this teacher, and would gladly take him again. A little eccentric, but great.
Professor Wagner is a great teacher who is full of energy! He keeps the class interesting with jokes and stories. However, this class can be pretty difficult, just depends on how much you study. Make sure you take notes and do the online quizzes!!! Study for exams, don't procrastinate on papers, and don't skip class.
This class is ridiculous for it being a core class. He makes it too difficult and is so tough on grading essays my comp professors were not even that harsh. The notes are vague and do not reallt match up with the study guide. Would have taken a different professor.
the prof is a very intelligent man who you can really tell cares for history-especially Greece and Rome. he often has relatable stories.. and some tangents. all in all though all info on the test, which are extensive, are given in the class lectures, so be sure to take notes and pay attention.
Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had! So funny and you learn a lot. He has a good heart and you can tell he cares about his students' success. Not my major but was sad I couldn't have him as a professor again!
If you work DO NOT take his class. Almost impossible to work full time and still be successful in his class. Lots of reading and quizzes. Very very detailed tests with broad topics. Tough grader, essay papers have very little instructions. Tests require A TON of studying for a core class.
Worst teacher Handwriting sucks you cant read whats on the board When he does write on the board its random pieces from the book you are supposed to read the night before about 10-12 pages long Quizzes every other night over the 10-12 pages you read for a 10 question quiz 100 question tests Dont bother emailing himThinks he is FunnyNOT
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Quizzes and Test are stupid hard for a freaking core class and his exams are composed of specific dates and topics that he does not go over in his class. Worst class I have ever taken
His tests are the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen, even with studying its impossible to pass his test. Tests include things not talked about in lectures or in the readings. Readings are very long with quizzes that are impossible to get a good grade on because of the ridiculous 10 minutes he gives you to take them. Do not take him, believe me
One of the best professors I've ever had. I have taken him for both of the humanities surveys and philosophy. Not a coasting class but he does his best not to fail you. If you participate and try he ends up rounding your FINAL grade by at least a letter grade. He gives clear guidelines and is extremely funny.
This class is really good to take with Professor Wagner. He made lectures very interesting and makes them relatable so it is easier to understand. He curves your final grade a lot so even if youre not doing great DONT DROP. No papers and hilarious guy
I highly recommend taking any of Wagners classes. He is caring and teaches with passion, making the lectures interesting. Also, his exams are easy if you use his study guide. I disagree with most of the comments in here because his attendance is not mandatory and exams are not impossible as some said. Take it seriously and and youll have an A.
Ive taken Wagners humanities and philosophy classes and I am sad I wont have anymore classes with him. Hes hilarious, making the lectures interesting and he curves your final grade. You will get an easy A if you come prepared to class and take it seriously.
I'll be very upfront about how I feel regarding Wagner. If you're looking to skate through a class with no effort, he is not for you. If you take class seriously, and want to actually learn and participate, I cannot recommend him enough. The material is demanding, but you WILL get out of it what you put in. By far my favorite teacher this semester.
Never a dull moment with Wagner. Participation was vital to the course, and also one of the most enjoyable parts. Teaches subject thoroughly; also provided a great learning experience in critical thinking. Interesting and relevant material. He is quite a character; always entertaining. I felt challenged, but not overwhelmed. 10/10 would take again.
Loved taking Professor Wagner! Hes tough and you have to earn your grade, but he genuinely cares about his students and their learning. There was a lot of reading, but he makes the subject interesting. You also have to participate in class discussions, which I usually dont like, but he made it easy! If you work hard youll get a good grade!
Demanding enough? Wont explain expectations until its too late. Loves to talk about anything but what is actually needed for tests and quizzes. Quiz time length is ten mins for ten questions which is doable but not quite ideal. I wish he would communicate. Im not really into taking a class and teaching myself. Not a bad guy but its a no.
Easily the worst professor I have taken at UCO. His test are 100 questions over months of information. At least let us use notes or something. Sat their laughing at us while we were obviously physically distraught during the test. Taking notes off the board equal to a maze of words and dates that don't help studying for test. If u take him ur done.
Definitely the worst class Ive ever been through.. His lectures are impossible to understand. His handwriting is too hard to read and just random words. He gets mad easily throughout class. Quizzes are 10 minutes for 10 questions. Tons of reading. Tests are the hardest! NOT ONE person passed the first test. ETC! Dont take him, trust me!!
For an entry level Philosophy class, he was way too tough. Terrible lesson plan, makes you read and watch tons of media that are pages and pages (or hours and hours) every week. Tests are way too hard and open ended as well. Dont put yourself through what I went through.
His quizzes were difficult because of the way he wrote them; sometimes you literally didn't know what he was asking. He expected difficult 100 question exams to be done in less than an hour. He also asked students personal questions which at first seemed nice but became weird after a while...
Professor Wagner was the saving grace of my freshman year professors. He was so understanding and accommodating with the technological side of things amidst COVID. He'll provide assistance and clarification any way he can if you jus ask for it. Super funny and real, never a dull day in class! If you have the chance to have him, JUMP ON IT!
Took him for philosophy, assigned ludicrous amounts of homework along side highly in-depth tests.
He assigns quizzes 3 times/week due before class begins and the readings for them are 40+ pages long with only 10min to answer them. He grades papers very strictly, do not expect to get a good grade no matter how hard you try. His lectures is mostly asking the class questions and if no one answers them class will be spent waiting till someone does
All he ever does is lecture and quiz, and his exams are insanely hard for 0 reasons. He's a nice person, but honestly, the stress of this class is not worth it.
His class is so difficult for no reason. There are 3 quizzes due before each class each week. He grades his papers really tough. The tests are way too hard, almost impassable.
4/5 -> If you want to have a good time in class, do not take his class. You will have quite the opposite, and will be only more stress on top of the already stressful things we have to deal with. Know how to spell, know how to show up, and know how to fly under the radar, or else your time in class will just completely suck.
Under no circumstances should you take a lecture from Mr. Wagner. Workload consists of daily quizzes over multiple chapters, essays with misleading grading criteria, and 100 question exams that will tank your grade. Also prepare yourself for sob stories regarding his ex-wife on a daily basis. Complete waste of time.
This professor is so vague on all of his DAILY quizzes. Yes, he gives daily quizzes and gives you 10 min to answer up to 24+ questions. He is unfair and he rambles in class. My notes are so vague because he does not stay on track but expects 100% on his tests and such. He is so critical on everything you do. He is rude and not understanding.
lectures way too fast and doesn't stay on track which means notes are super vague, tests are 100 questions and the study guides are both long and EXTREMELY vague. like, "tell me about Greece" vague. essay requirements are near impossible to meet, writing styles are NOT allowed at all whatsoever. honestly though, i thought the class was interesting
Lures you in with normal work, but the quizzes get more vague and subjective to opinion. His tests are shown to you beforehand, therefore he grades you extremely harshly for ANY small things and requires you to memorize and then vomit up 3-4 pages of essay over 10 questions. It's the hardest core class I've ever taken. 0/10 would drop again
He's the worst professor I've had at UCO in the 3 years I've been there. The class is way too hard, with excessive amounts of work. He made the class unnecessarily hard. He won't help you. Instead, he pawns you off on the tutors. Called our class stupid.. I could go on and on. Just take the class with literally anyone else.
Yo, Please please please don't take his class .Taking this class at UCO with this professor is the one way to mess up y'alls grade and GPA. No matter how hard u listen or try, the papers is graded as a 5 thousand level course, exams are very difficult with too much informations , dates, names that all gonna get confusing. Please don't take it.
The Professor is way too hard. Do not take whatsoever. Do yourself a favor and do not take his humanities class. I get the whole "no do-overs" but dude, if we don't understand the way you write, how do you expect us to do great? The tests are 100 questions and only what feels like an hour(in the summer you're supposed to have 75 minutes).
Yes - what you've heard is true. He is a tougher grader. With that said, if you actually study, you'll be totally fine. It's not that complicated. Don't let the disgruntled students scare you out of taking his classes, he is hilarious, and you'll learn A LOT! Plus, there's a grading curve that really helps, you just have to stick around to see it.
This professor is pretty funny and does so well at engaging in conversation with his students. I actually didn't hate going to class. Anyway, don't take this class if you want it to take up a lot of your time, especially if you're taking it as a gen-ed course. He grades pretty rough, meaning that you have to put in a lot of time on your papers.
There is a huge amount of content within the course, and there are two papers required. Pay VERY close attention to the style guide and instructions, the papers are graded very heavily, although there is a curve to make up for it. The lectures are genuinely interesting, and he encourages discussion so I actually enjoyed going to class.
He was gone at least 12 times throughout the semester and still took points away for anyone else missing. His "jokes" were always inappropriate and sexist. He had a lack of respect for his students. The reviews for his exams are vague. We get graded harshly on our papers for which we have few notes and are not permitted to use outside sources.
The professor can be tough, but engaging with the material and using tools like Unstuck ai for study prep really helped me get through this challenging class. Lectures are interesting, and attendance is mandatory, so be ready to participate. Just don't slack off on those papers!
