He has a great personality and looks to go with it. Great Prof.

Hahaha.... He's a stand up Comedian!!
A bit flaky, reminds of "The Greatest American Hero"
I went to class and got a B+ JUST for him :)
Simplifies everything from the text, so i don't really need to read it. hahahah
70% of the course were no-shows and irrelevant blah-blah,hate him,but easy test
Ive never seen a prof that would check every single exercise u do through email.
Great prof. yet funny, very helpful
BEST prof at YORK. VERY CLEAR, i didn't even have to open the text book at all.
Math 1090 is tough, but this Prof Makes it easy to understand
best math teacher ever
Smart, funny, and cute. What else could you ask for!
He is the only teacher who can make those courses so interesting
Great prof! He answered my last question 30 minutes before the final!
good guy, very helpful. will check all your through email. and clear lecturer
He is my idea of professor! Makes 1090 a joke. Got an A very easy
course was pure fun, tests were so easy, email policy is great
good prof.
very good Prof., He made math1090 easy to understand.
Great prof. Helpful and cute! VERY fast with answering e-mail.
Good explinations and the tests were based on the homework

He's good for 2090. Didn't have much luck with him for 1090.
excellent professor!
Great Prof! Loves the course and very organised. Very helpful out of class and straight to the point. Pushed me to strive for marks in his class. Fun stuff.
Super Super Super... made a horrible course easy, fun and interesting. He is organized, clear, straight forwards to the points and HOT.
Great professor! I look forward to having classes with him in the future!
Best prof at York, period. Crystal clear, willing to repeat everything 10 times even for the most retarded students. Tests and exams are rather hard. Most people were still writing his supposedly "90 minute exam" at the end of 3 hour mark.
Explains very very clearly, multiple times in various ways. Evaluations are clear, fair, and predictable. Encourages questions, and answers them very well and patiently numerous times if needed. Makes complicated concepts easy to understand. Simply the best professor I've had at York University.
He is the best prof! Very Clear lecture. If you do all the assinged number on the textbook, you will be fine! very easy 2 midterms, but the final is little hard. so never miss the midterm!
good professeur and very helpful
His midterm was extremely hard, it is a shortened term, and he just killed us with midterms, the class average was 30%. Although his exam was okay, the midterms was longer than finals of previous years and teachers. He said he will round the marks up, but he didn't, i know alot of students that got killed in that course, althrough my mark was ok.
Saying this professor is hard doesn't even begin to cover it. The course material seems easy but his midterms were sooo frustratingly hard. I have A's and B's in every class but I have a feeling I'll end up failing this. We just got back our second midterm marks. The average is 32%. He says he will round up but never does. Just stay clear of him.
Class average going into the exam was 55.7%. I think he was a wonderful professor. If ur lazy and dont like to do ur homework often then dont take his class...If u do ur homework and ask questions u should get a A-B :P.
like others have stated, his tests can be quite difficult. they stress applications of concepts. a decent grade is attainable with a lot of hard work. his lectures can be a bit dry at times.
Amazing prof hands down. At least for Linear Algebra I, so to say. He will repeat himself numerous times if needed and doesn't mind if people ask alota questions during class. Very concise and clear. Tests were a breeze and exams were pretty ok too. And DUH, its math so yes practice does make perfect. Just pay attention in class and you'll be fine!
His tests are hard be prepared but he is a very good teacher I will still recommend him because he prepares you for the next course after taking his.
Good prof, teaches well. His tests can be challenging, but if you do all the assigned problems and keep up, you should do well (at least a B)...if he makes one of his tests easy, the next test/exam will be INSANE...he bell curves if needed though...he is clear on what to study for for exams
this was one of my favorite courses for first semester. in class the work may seem like a lot but with practice, which he encourages you'll makes headway. the tests and final are not difficult if you work on the assigned problems and ask questions. he is extremely helpful and would go over again if you are still unclear. goodluck!
The best math professor ever, know how to teach and use the book. will make your understanding of the subject ease. Might be the best professor in york for mathematics at undergrad level.
Arguably the Best they have.. Mr Watson has little competition for the title of the best math teacher @ york university..Great teaching qualities and very dedicated ..
Best Math teacher I have ever had. Very clear, very intelligent, interesting to listen to.
Very clear, speaks slowly and understandable. Makes a lot of sense
Very helpful and is genuinely nice. Always trying to help students understand the course material, and doing well in the course!
By far best math teacher I have ever had. This professor is worth rearranging your schedule to get!
one of the best professors!! he'll let you know what he expects you to know for the test... He explains really well during class, and is willing to answer questions from individual students! he's a very nice person, and is extremely helpful!
If you need to learn calculus, do so with Stephen Watson. He knows how to teach. He is a TEACHER, not just a guy with a degree and a university job. He's clearly spent a great deal of time figuring out exactly how to teach math, because he has it down to an exact science. If you don't understand the content, you obviously didn't come to class.
Best Math teacher at York by far! Gives topics of each exam question and midterm question. Literally goes one by one. Very clear in lecture and quick with email responses. I just wish he taught more classes.
Very helpful and as someone said , one of the best Math Professor in York U. The best side of his is he will make your tests and exam a lot easier with a surprising strategy, which is very helpful. Good marking strategy as well.
An absolutely amazing teacher! Watson is incredibly clear and concise with his teachings and will frequently stop his lectures so as to answer questions. This might seem annoying but he manages to keep things interesting and adds a great deal of clarity to the material, without taking too much time doing so. I would highly recommend this prof :)
he taught intro to calc, basically high school calc, but he was 1000X times better than my calc teacher in grade 12. he tells the questions of the test weeks before the test, but are censored so you know the gust of it. he's kind and welcoming for any further help needed.
Clear, concise professor who teaches math in a way that makes it easy to understand and fun to do. He will answer any questions asked, no matter how stupid they seem. Gives a censored version of midterms and exams and goes over it in detail beforehand. I took his course in Fall 2013 - final was surprisingly difficult, but ended up curved.
Outstanding professor. Stresses comprehension over memory. Goes through relatively complex questions (that you might see on an exam) slowly and step by step and takes questions at every point along the way. Stayed up late to personally answer students' questions on the forum. Really genuine guy and cares a lot about math and his students.
I got an A+ simply by attending and paying attention. He is a very capable lecturer, very kind and helpful, he lent me his calculus book when I told him I couldn't afford to buy a brand new one. Just ATTEND REGULARLY and do the assigned questions, you will not regret taking a course with him.
He is a really good prof! He really knows what he is talking about, which makes it easier to understand the lessons. If someone doesn't understand something, he goes over the question step by step, explaining how he got what he got. He does not rush his material and yet he manages to cover all material. Going to his lectures really helped.
Unreal prof. By far the best one in the Math department. Really emphasizes the 'teaching' aspect. You can tell he wants his students to learn. Not one bad thing to say here.
Easily the best prof in my university experience. Gives censored versions of tests a few days before the test date so you know what exactly to study. Easy to talk to and learn from. Final was hard but really fair and was curved up anyway. 11 out of 10.
one of the best professors at York.
Great Prof, very helpful and explains everything well. Just make sure you keep up with the homework questions.
He was probably the best professor that I've ever had at York University. He was very good at teaching and explaining.
He is a super nice prof. He explains things patiently and the exam is not too hard. Good prof!
best best best profesior ever in my life no words to descibe if i ve to take any more courses n he is teaching it definitely he will bemy first priority.
Fantastic professor, one of the best
I would switch to math major if he taught all my classes. HE IS AWESOME! He explains something until u get it. Very fair with grading/testing material. Gives clear outline of exercises that would be similar to test questions so u know what to expect. Knows what material to focus on when teaching & skips things that arent needed. Do your WebAssign!
Incredible prof! So knowledgeable it's insane. Wish he taught all MATH classes at York!
He is the best prof for math. Really cares about students and answers question immediately. He makes sure that everyone understands the material before moving to the next topic. If you do the homework with no trouble (ALL THE HOMEWORK) you will get a great mark.
OMG, he is a GEM! You cannot go to his lectures and fail the course! it's just impossible. The lectures are simple and quite adsorbent. This guy is such a gentlemen; just give him a visit during his office hours, you'll get what I mean.
You could not ask for a more understanding and caring professor. He does his best to present the material in a manner that everyone can understand and gives you as many extensions as you need for the Web Assign homework so that you do it for sure. Do the Web Assign and go to class and you are sure to do well. He is a gem amongst math professors.
Best prof to take math 1505 with. Even if it's an inconvenient time, it's worth having this course with him.
He cares very much about his students and wants them to succeed. He gave key hints to what would be on the tests/exams and it was extremely helpful and accurate. His lectures, considering they were about math were bearable and he was slow enough to make sure all understood.
He doesn't explain properly. I hardly understand what he says and he goes from topic to topic so quickly
One of the few math profs at yorku worth anything. If you can take the course with him, it's a no brainer. He is extremely accessible, inside and outside of class and welcomes any questions, no matter how stupid. He also wants people to be prepared for the course, so make sure you understand the basics and you'll do well.
He's really nice and he makes his lectures generally interesting. One thing that was kind of frustrating was that he didn't start his lectures by stating the topic/ chapter that he will be teaching. So you kind of have to guess the chapter in the textbook that he is talking about.
best prof ive ever had relating to math, do choose him if you ever get to take a math course
One of my favourite classes! He is very detailed in his lectures which makes the class very interesting! Would highly recommend anyone to take his class. Once you put the work in, you can be successful.
best prof you could ever take math with! practice tests/exams given is very similar (and sometimes even easier) to the real one. most of the stuff is a review and an extension of calculus and vectors/matrices, functions, and data management (probability)
Was scared of Math, but after reading reviews here, I took a chance and enrolled into his class. Didnt regret it at all, best decision, passed with flying colours!!!!
All I have to say is do the WebAssign questions and you're set for the rest of the course. Come to class for a better understanding on how to do the WebAssign questions tho. Midterms/tests are not at all confusing(they are literally the web assign questions with different numbers). Also don't hesitate to get help during office hours, kindest man.
Watson is the best!
This is one of the best math professors. I came from another country where the maths is different from Canada's but this prof made it so easy for me. I took this course before and failed miserably but then I met Prof Watson and all that changed. This prof will put out his best for you to get an A+. Absolutely amazing professor #1 RECOMMENDED.
Hes a very good professor. I dont have any complaints.
One of the best math professors, Dr. Watson please go back to teaching MATH1505 we need you.
Such an amazing prof. Had him for MATH 1505 last year but heard he isn't teaching it this year :( He really made this course so easy and enjoyable! He really cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. And don't be afraid to go to his office hours as it really does help. He's the best prof for this course and wouldn't want anyone else!!
Stephen Watson is on a whole other level compared to most if not all math professors. He genuinely cares about helping students succeed and understand mathematics. His lectures are extremely easy to follow along, and he encourages any types of questions, even if it means repeating parts of the lecture. Tests and exams are more than fair.
I SWEAR LIKE GOD HE'S LIKE THE ONLY GOOD MATH PROFESSOR AT YORK! He teaches well at a slow and understanding pace, with webasssigns that have reasonable deadlines and are actually relevant to the tests. The foundation he gave me in 1510 is the only reason I was able to (barely) survive 1505. If you can get in his class, DO IT!
Professor Watson really has every student's best interest at heart, he is super caring and understanding. The course is difficult, do all the WebAssigns, and thoroughly understand everything. You have to pay 100 dollars for the mandatory webassign homework btw.
I LOVE professor Watson. I've tried 4x to take this course prior to enrolling in his lectures & each time I would drop out of the course after a week. Other math profs at York tend to be insensitive and discouraging saying things such as "I won't teach it, you should know it" etc. Stephen explains, cares and wants to see ALL students do well<3
Watson is truly an AMAZING prof. I have never been good at math and just barely passed advanced functions and never took calc so when I heard I had to take math 1505 I was nervous since a lot fail BUT if you take Watson and put in a decent amount of work you WILL pass. his WebAssign is all you really need to study and attend lectures for clarity.
HE IS SUPER AMAZING! Cannot emphasis more! Love, love, love professor Watson. He provides you with practice papers that are similar to the actual exams. He is such a caring and accommodating professor. Never seen any prof as good as this guy! Wish he could teach me all my courses lol. Even if you are bad at math I'd say go ahead and take this w him
Awesome math professor! Very clear lectures (rare for math classes in general) and takes time to go through examples or areas where students may have difficulty. Also gave out censored tests for practice before the actual tests/exams. Very easy to pass his class and very hard to not do well in his class, if you pay attention.
He is honestly THE BEST PROFESSOR, take any course with him if you can!!! He is so caring and genuinely wants his students to do well. He explains concepts in the best and most understanding way. He makes math FUN, which not a lot of math profs can do.
Amazing lectures, lecture contents are extremely easy to follow. I'm not a math person but the way he teaches makes me fall in love with math
Such a kind positive soul and an amazing person all around. One of the nicest professors ever. Also teaches very well.
A very thorough and caring professor. He wanted his students to succeed in the course and he prepared us greatly. He is an excellent professor and I wish I could have him for future courses.
Regardless of what grade each student gets, he is one of the most kindest and honest teaching professors ever. He really cares about his students and their performance. He teachers with sincere passion and dedication, and with great effort. He is not like other professors who are just there for the income, and do the bare minimum. He is the best.
Very good professor. Teaches his students math with genuine passion and wants every student to succeed.
Amazing prof! So kind and really really wants to help students and see them succeed. He made math a subject that I now don't fear! Truly wonderful. Thank you Dr. Watson!
Professor Watson is genuinely one of the greatest teachers/professors I have ever had. His lectures are amazing and very clear, and the tests have absolutely no surprises, and are only composed of material taught in lectures. He is also very caring and wants all of his students to succeed. 100% would recommend taking any course with prof Watson.
Professor Watson is the best math teacher/professor/educator that I have ever had. He teaches math very well, but is also very kind, and caring. He wants every student to succeed and is always there to support his students to success.
Prof Watson is so caring and makes sure anyone can do math! His tests are very very fair, just like the practice, but do learn how to not use a calculator. The final was slightly harder than a test. Overall the course wasn't hard as long as you understand what he teaches!
Good teacher, caring, slow lectures (only covers a few examples), office hours, very helpful, midterms and finals are similar to practice tests so not too hard
His practice exams were very similar to the actual exams and he really cared about his students
Posts lectures (had technical issues A LOT though so don't rely on this). Gave practice tests that were quite literally exactly like the actual exams which really helped. Didn't take himself or the course too seriously. Always stayed back to answer questions. Great guy and good experience overall
The best professor for math 1506! He explains concepts clearly and is kind when answering questions, he tells you how he expects you to answer exam questions, gives practice tests similar to the test/exam, and goes at a good teaching pace. He makes class engaging and understands that we have other courses as well. Just make sure you do your work!
Prof Watson is an amazing teacher - super caring and passionate. His classes are manageable if you engage with the material. unstuckstudy was a big help for prep.
Best prof ever!! He's super kind, and the midterms are extremely fair as they're very similar to his review questions. He teaches very well, and explains with passion and care. Truly a good person in every sense.
Watson is kind, smart and caring. His lectures were easy to understand, and he frequently gave extensions for in-class assignments which were very helpful. His exams are also very easy, and he is always available for questions! I say this coming from a high school calculus background. He may be more difficult if this is your first calculus class.
Absolute G.O.A.T math prof at York. Lectures are engaging and he explains concepts in detail without being boring and always great clarity.
