Fun class
Fun class
Made the class interesting and enjoyed the lab work
Class is easy...he makes it interesting telling random stories. I would take him again, but you do need to study for his exams
so funny. he talks about his arrests and such, but never off topic. he basically feeds you the answers to the midterm but the essay takes dedication. don't worry though he's very helpful. :)
He is awesome! You do have to study for exams, but he makes it really easy to understand. His stories are relevant and hilarious. And he's HOT!
Wofsey is mad cool, his paper can be a pain though but he'll help you through every step of it. He really does spoon feed you an A, if not a B. He claims he doesn't check out ratemyprofessor.com but he's on it every night. I'm actually writing this in his class. Im really not sure why he has a chili though? but Good professor!
Awesome professor! Fair, extremely knowledgeable, and very helpful! He tells you exactly what you need to study for the tests and very helpful with research projects.
Awesome professor, very helpful, tests are easy, tells good stories, and he's hot. By far one of my favorite professors
I really enjoyed his class. He's down to earth, helpful, and his rapport with the students in my class was hilarious! He responded to all of my emails quickly and told interesting stories about his experiences as an officer. I highly recommend taking one of his classes!
Wofsey is an amazing man and AWESOME teacher!! He is smart, super helpful, quick to email back, gives you everything you need to know for tests but you still need to work for it by studying (essays)...his stories are hilarious and he is a genuinely funny guy...did i mention SMART?!! oh--and VERY attractive...chili pepper is well deserved... ;)
Pretty easy class, he gives you everything you need to study for the exams in red in the powerpoints. my only complaint is his midterm group paper assignment. I got shafted picking up the slack for my group and luckily got a B on it, he grades the papers like he's an English professor. which was annoying. Not a bad class though over all.
Professor Wofsey is awesome! The research paper is a pain in the butt though. Dr. Wofsey allows you to turn it in early for corrections. PLEASE do this and you will be fine in the class. Exams are quite easy if you study. Also, there is a A LOT of note taking!
The class is almost strictly taught via powerpoint. All information from the powerpoint that will be on the exam is in RED text, making it fairly simple and easy for note-taking. The tests are not easy, but if you show up to class and take decent notes, you'll do fine. Pretty easy class, overall.
Very difficult class, and very difficult exams (100 questions, 100 points). The class is almost entirely taught via powerpoint, and all information on the exam is in red text, making note taking significantly easier. Overall, it's an interesting class, just know before you sign up that you're going to REALLY have to work hard for an "A."
Dr. Wofsey is great, you have to read all the instructions for the project, but he let's you hand it in early and he makes revisions. Take advantage of the early submission. If you study for his exams they are easy, but they are 100 questions. He highlights what you need to know in red so if you read the chapter and study what is red your fine.
Wofsey is BY FAR the best ADJ instructor. Ppl complain he "highlights in red", "classes are all lectures"... HELLO, its to HELP YOU PASS. He goes into great detail and gives personal examples in his lectures. He is also the one to go to if you need advice on what ADJ classes to take. I say att. is mandatory bc you wont want to miss classes.. ever.
Prof. Wofsey is a wonderful teacher! But you do have to attend class to take the notes. Lectures are powerpoints and the things you need to take notes on are highlighted in red. One paper, midterm and final. If you do not study you won't pass simple as that. Also watched movies to go along with lecture topics.
Professor Wofsey lecture is very informative. Most of the information that is on powerpoint is on the Exams. A book you will not need. Just make sure you attend class and do the research paper and you will be fine. Also Study, Study, Study.
He's a great teacher! Loved the class. The research paper is no joke, and the tests can be hard if you do not study. Its all by Powerpoint for the most part, make sure you take more notes than just what he has highlighted in red. Overall, great teacher.
Dr. Wofsey awesome professor & straight forward. Worked for PG county police & VICE, tells stories about his work experience. PowerPoint lectures & key notes are highlighted in RED. Submit 3-5 draft for research paper b/c he gives feedback to help you get a better grade & replies quick. Show up, take notes, do the work, study & you'll get an A.
Dr. Wofsey the greatest professor ever! Very knowledgeable, understanding & helps any student who asks him. Only gives a midterm, research paper+(powerpoint presentation) & Final. He's funny and gives examples about his life experience in the workforce. Participate, show up, take notes, do the work, ask for help if needed, study & you'll get an A.
I would recommend hi if you are thinking about getting an easy A. As long as you study his PowerPoint highlighted notes and turn in the research paper on time, you will expect to get an A. However, be careful the research paper, you got to do good in order to get good grade on it. Other than this, it is quite enjoyable for his lectures.
Dr. Wofsey is so knowledgable & thorough. The class overall is interesting, I wouldnt say an "easy A" but it isn't hard. You absolutely have to show up to class for the notes you need for the exams. Tests are 100 multple choice Qs. Definitely will take his classes again. Also, he is seriously attractive... 10/10. yum
Took his online adj 107 class in the fall. Two test both are off his PowerPoint notes must study the powerpoints to pass. 2 quizes open book/notes online. Tough grader on the writing assignments, does not give feed back on assignments. Textbook is a must since the writing assignments are questions from the text.
He makes it easy to pass. Go to class, write down the notes in red, make them into flashcards, study, and you get an A. A midterm, a final, and a research paper. I've taken a couple of his classes and they're all like that. Extra credit opportunity. You can't be absent and do well. Nice and funny guy. Easy to listen to without getting bored.
He grades ridiculously if you follow the criteria, it seems like there is a hidden standard you don't know about. He doesn't give extra credit nor does he give a lot of feedback. He isn't personable nor does he seem like he cares. His textbook also has typos.
Took his online class in the Spring...2 writing assignments, 2 exams, 2 quizzes, and 4 discussion questions. He gives samples and templates for the writing assignments which if you follow you should get a B. Study for the exams and you will do fine. The quizzes are open notes. Overall if you study you should earn an A.
Professor Wofsey to my estimation is one of the best professor I have encountered. He teaches extremely well to the best of his ability. His lecture notes are relatively easy to understand. I think he is a gem in his field of study. Attend his lectures, participate, study and you will earn an easy A+
He's a good lecturer and very knowledagable in criminal justice. The class was intersting, but tests are very heavy. If you take him, be sure to get every notes.
Professor Wofsey is great, the only thing i did not like about him was that on his papers he grades you like an English professor. Other than that i enjoyed his class. As long as you do your work you will pass his class. Also study everything in RED!!
He's a great professor! Just do what you're asked to do, take notes, and if you don't make it to class get the notes! You will not pass if you do not study your notes. If you don't try you will not do well!
He is a quality professor and makes you work for your grade.
Took the class and he gives you study guides. If you read the book and understand the concept you will surely pass the class. If you copy the powerpoint in what is in red, you'll do great without a doubt. The class is chill, just the reading. Exams are pretty straightforward.
Professor Wofsey is one of the best professors I've ever had. Everything needed for the test is on the power point. Therefore, you must attend to class. He's accessible outside of class if you need help and best of all, he will make you laugh during lecture.
He's an amazing professor! Do you work and show up to class and you should be ok! This class had more assignments than his other classes, but not too many to handle. Don't be afraid: 2 quiz's, 2 exams, 1 paper, and a couple of classroom assignments. For notes, WRITE EVERYTHING IN RED (this goes for all of his classes). Definitely would take again!
He's an amazing professor! Do you work and show up to class and you should be ok! Participation in this class made it more interesting to see other people's opinions on certain topics, but is not required! There are 4 exams and 1 paper. For notes, WRITE EVERYTHING IN RED (this goes for all of his classes). Definitely would take again!
-Little to no feedback -Doesnt really follow grading criteria -Makes you buy a textbook he wrote himself -His textbook has typos and all he does is cite another, cheaper, more well-written textbook (Siegel)
Terrorism with Wofsey is fantastic, hilarious prof. No assigned textbook, however you have to be in class as he does PP's. Most tests are 75 questions but all of the answers are on the PP's and highlighted in red word for word. Gotta be in class or have someone to send you notes, miss a class and you'll miss a chunk of an exam. One research paper.
Amazing lectures. I took the 9:30am class, which was my bad, but he made it not so bad, and kept me awake.
If you like criminology, you will like this class. Take notes, and study them, and you will get a A. Start your research paper early, and show up to class. he's funny, and a great teacher. Lots of good information
So glad I chose him for this course! He makes everything easy to understand and tells us what we need to know. As long as you write the red notes down, you should be good!
Professor wofsey is one of my favorite professors Ive taken while at NOVA, I have taken him more than once and I can assure you that you wont go wrong taking his class hes hilarious and very knowledgeable.
Very straightforward teaching, but very easy to follow. As long as you make it to class regularly and pay attention, you'll only need minimal studying to pass.
Wow, I really loved this class! I actually REALLY miss it! Truly inspirational and funny as well. It made me even have more passion for the subject matter and the field. It was also great because after I expressed a particular interest in the field, he recommended a video I might enjoy, he was right! Lots of work, but it felt great to achieve it!
Because this was a 8 week class, there were always something due every Saturday and the lectures were doubled. He gives good feedback, and no make up test/quiz. I would definitely take him a gain! He is very straight forward with what he is expecting from students.
He is great just take good notes and study for the exams along with completing the research project and you will be fine in the class. I really enjoyed the lectures
Professor Wofsey is one of the most amazing professors in Nova! He is a lean back type teacher and has interesting lectures about terrorism/counterterrorism. He also connects with students after class about certain topics you want to discuss. If I could take him again, I would. I encourage all of you guys to take his class, you wont regret it.
The class was interesting and he provided study guides to help with the exams. You need to study, but if you listen the lectures he tells you what he is looking for. Overall I enjoyed it.
he a very TOUGH Grader and is not so forgiving he's one the worse tough grader I've seen at NVCC he also doesn't accept any late work even after you submitted work just a few mins later I wouldn't recommend anyone taking his courses
Hes a god professor . 4 exams and 1 paper . Overall study your notes and youll do good on the exams . The paper wasnt too bad but he isnt an easy grader . Overall, study and youll pass.
Hes Okay, VERY tough grader you have to study very hard to get a decent grade. Extra credits arent worth a lot. Think twice before taking him
Great Professor! Used real world examples to explain material. Would definitely take again!
Overall a good professor. The writing assignments are lengthy and tests can be challenging. LISTEN TO THE LECTURES AND TAKE NOTES. If you do the work and follow the grading criteria you will be fine. Test hints are in the lectures
Professor Wofsey is hands down one of the best professors at NOVA. He made his lectures interesting and kept me wide awake at 8am. There are 4 exams and one paper. He literally gives you the answers to the test. He is a tough grader on the only paper you will have in his class. All you have to do is study the red notes and you will surely pass.
Prof. Wofsey is an awesome teacher. His lectures are clear and during the lectures he lets you know if something will be on the exam. He gives a study guide and if you follow it you will pass. Provide great feedback on your papers. There is homework but if you stay on schedule you will pass. He did not just read word for word from the textbook.
The semester I took this professor I took 4 classes. 3 of the classes I received As. His class I received an F. I will admit I slacked and got lazy. Reasoning, everything required a long essay and was worth practically nothing! 50 points for a 5 paragraph assignment! He is a tough grader too.
best teacher i ever had. Loved this guy
Great class, great teacher! Nice and caring, fair grader and over all a good experience.
I do not recommend. Tests are fine and study guides are given, however, the work load was obscene. 4 tests, 4 papers, 5 discussion board posts. Papers required a lot of research. The discussion board posts even require research. Video lectures are long. Took way more time than a 3 credit course should.
I have taken 3 of his classes and he's AMAZING. He knows his stuff BELIEVE ME. Hands down the best ADJ professor. For one of his classes, he will make you buy his own book lol but the exam comes all from the book and he will give you all the RED NOTES (exactly what you need) for the test. The timing for his test is TOTALLY unfair ngl.
-continued from the previous here is what you need to know. Every assignment is due at Sunday midnight, he is harsh when he grades the projects (papers), open-book exams, weekly discussion boards, no extra credit or group projects, he responds to emails really quickly and he is understanding. I promise you won't regret taking his class :)
One of the best professors I've had to opportunity to learn from. His lectures are quite long but they are very thorough and interesting. As far as the work, he is a tough grader on the longer assignments/papers. For the exams, he basically gives you all the answers on the study guide as well as in his lectures, so exams are an easy pass.
if you're failing his class, you need to change major, he's easy as it can get
In ADJ107, the grade was just 4 writing assignments, 5 discussions, and 4 MC 75-question exams. The assignments are detailed, long, need scholarly sources, and receive little feedback. Exams are easy if you listen to the lectures and complete the study guides. My main peeve is being forced to buy his book instead of something cheaper and accessible
This class consists of 4 Writing Assignments, 6 Discussions, and 4 MC-based 75 question exams. Despite straightforward and consistent assignment schedules, he is a tough grader because he requires scholarly sources, and wants detailed assignments. You're required to buy his textbook. Overall, exams are easy and open-note (online ONLY).
Great teacher who has experience in the field so he can go into details about what he is actually talking about.
Good lord. I took this class because ODU was full and I didn't want to fall behind. This is a 100 level class and he treats it like it's a grad school class. You will spend tons of time just memorizing statistics and reading HIS poorly written textbook. I dropped it and took an accelerated course at ODU and finished with an A. He's not worth it.
Great guy who cares about what he teaches. Would take him again if I have the opportunity.
I enjoyed taking this class. Professor Wofsey has a lot of knowledge and experience that he loves to share. He is very lenient with cameras being on but he appreciates participation either in chat or over audio. There is discussion questions and quizzes that is spaced out pretty well so long as you stay on top of the work it is a easy grade.
Professor Wofsey is without doubt one of the best Professors I've ever had. His lectures were great explaining about certain terrorist activities and measures that are made to combat. He's very nice towards everyone and brings positivity by answering questions that are asked as well as giving an extra credit in the exam to boost your score well.
He knows what he is talking about. I took him for Criminal Behavior, so our only form of grading was papers and essays which I do not mind. Also he tells you generally what your exams will be about. He will say hint hint these next slides will be sort of what you have to write about so you know what to write down.
Too much writing, but he is fantastic.
Zoom-based lectures with accompanying PowerPoints, Professor Wofsey uploads almost all of the material used in the lectures onto canvas after each lecture, so students can review before exams.
Professor Wofsey was able to keep 3 and a half hour lectures interesting and engaging. He goes off a PowerPoint but asks lots of thought-provoking questions and encourages group discussion. He tells you EXACTLY what you will need to know for the exams. He also provides excellent feedback. I would definitely recommend his classes.
Professor Wofsey is one of the best professors I've ever had during my time at NOVA! His lectures are pretty long, so prepare yourself for that. He grades easily, and the grades are based on exams and discussion posts, so make sure to be on track with those! He is super understanding and knows how to keep the attention of his students!
This professor wasn't too bad. He is just a very tough grader, he wants things done exactly how he tells you to do it. I also didn't like the fact that his lectures were so long and boring. He also makes you purchase the book that he wrote to utilize for the class. His tests are 75 questions multiple choice, short answer and true or false
No late work at all! Which is ridiculous in my opinion. He's really strict grader. Not kind at all in emails.
Refuses to allow any late work, even if it's only a day late. Only ten things were graded. Really unflexible professor.
only had 6 assignments the whole semester, 2 papers and 4 exams. i absolutely bombed the first 2 exams but got really good grades on the papers and last 2 exams, class is easy if you just pay attention, it is a lecture class where he reads from slides but highlights what specifically will be in the exams. just study and you'll be good
Refused to accept any late work at all. Very few things were graded. If you miss one or two things you are screwed. Not very kind in emails. I would take someone else.
These recent ratings do not match my experience with him at all. This professor makes criminology very intriguing and I never got bored in his classes. Two-part exams. Half multiple choice questions and the other half written. The multiple choices were easy while the written part was difficult. Wish he taught all of my criminology classes.
Dr. Wofsey is an effective and engaging instructor. His lectures are clear and well-structured, making complex topics easier to understand. Grading is fair, and feedback is constructive, which helps me improve my work. Overall, he create a positive classroom environment, making learning enjoyable and rewarding. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Wofsey is a very good professor. His class is simple and involves him going over slides. Lectures are engaging. Grades are just a few writing assignments (graded on completion, not content) and a few exams. I learned a lot about the correctional system and the pros and cons of different eras and types of systems.
Professor Wofsey was so amazing his test were super easy if you study.. he gives feedback and also a study guide like a week before the test. He always answers ur questions and the lectures are very good if you are willing to learn!! I definitely recommend him and I will definitely take him again.. I even join a winter course to take him !!
Dr. Wofsey is a great professor who makes his lectures engaging. His exams are all based on memorization of things from his lectures as the exam questions are exact quotes of hints he gives during lectures. Overall I'd say to take Dr. Wofsey's classes as he's a great teacher, his classes have been my favorite at NOVA.
Professor Wofsey is a straight forward grader, his assignments are easy to understand though he seems to have a preferred vernacular and process for wanting assignments to be worded (not that big, I managed roughly a 22+/25 and 43~/50 on hmwk). BIG THING, exams are 65 questions with around 100~ terms each, make a quizlet and study!
Stephen Wolsey is a good person overall, but if you have a brain ADJ-201 is not the right class to take with him. He makes you read his own textbook with tests being based on over 4 chapters of work totalling over 85 pages per exam, but get this you can't use any notes. He also uses honor lock which can be an annoying process. Pick another teacher!
6 assignments due the whole class, 4 exams and 2 written assignments. He can be a tough grader on the written assignments; he wants you to use specific sources. Exams are long and multiple choice, but he goes over everything that will be on them in his lectures. It's a lot of memorization of specific things. Overall, good professor.
Seems like he's a great in person teacher but his online class is just awful. He uses his own $120 textbook and bases the tests that are 15% of your grade off of the 50 pages of reading you are assigned a week. You are forced to memorize lines of statistics from the textbook to just regurgitate on the test. This is not learning, merely memorizing.
Great professor, the lectures are very interesting, not boring at all. There was only 2 assignments and 4 exams (all multiple choice). He's a very funny and nice teacher. I recommend this teacher.
Took it as an online course so I didn't get to know the professor well but he had amazing presentations that were easy to follow through with. We did 2 writing assignments that are assigned months in advance to give you more time to work on. I liked the course and I'd recommend the teacher!
Omg. If I could take him for every class I would. He's funny, the 3 hour lectures feel like 1. He genuinely cares for his students and cares for the subject. Just study the material and study guides and you'll do amazing. One of the best teachers I've ever had honestly.
Wofsey would rather dictate than teach. He uses his own textbook and makes sure you have to but it so he profits. The subject matter should be open for discussion, but he dictates what you should believe. He's a failed cop who got his PHD and holds a grudge.
Please DO NOT take this professor if you have a choice. You will be writing excessively every week on top of the exams that are 65+ questions and come from 100+ pages of reading from his own textbook that you basically have to memorize in order to pass them. His feedback is good but he's a harsh grader and will knock off points for little details.
This is a very informative class. Use the study guide that he gives you during class to take notes. Write down everything in red. Don't miss class. Participate. He is very fair and does everything he can to set students up for success. Going to class and reading the text will be an easy B. Study the guide and you will easily earn an A.
Dr. Wofsey's Corrections class was awesome. There's a field trip which was super cool. Use the study guide that he provides for notes. Go to class. Write down everything in red. Participate. Do this and you qill have an easy B. Study the study guide and you will earn an A. I took every class I could with him He's fair and funny.
Loved this class. Prof. Wofsey outlines the class very well & provides clear directions for assignments. For a 7 week online class, the workload was easy to keep up with. Textbook is his own, which I really liked since it was strictly based on info from the tests rather than filler & he provides study guides as well that go with the readings
Do not take professor. Exams are long with tedious information that has nothing to do with understanding material, rather just memorizing dates and names. Very picky when it comes to writing too.
