I took Harwood for Phil 10 and then for Phil 65, because his class is so easy! Theres no homework, he shows videos every class meeting, and there is so much extra credit.Oh yeah and 1 paper you get the entire semester to write. Plus, hes really funny!!!
VERY EASY A! lolz... VERY EASY PROFESSOR... TAKE HIM!!!
Dr. Harwood is very easy BUT u must attend class everyday b/c there is always a quiz, will take attendance, always work to do to turn in at the end of class. There is a lot of extra credit which u should do. He can be MEAN at times. Book is cheap 2. There is 1 essay u have 2 do which is kind of hard
he's never clear n he's always off topic n always talkin about 50 cent! hella retarded..i suggest you take another phil 10 teach!
he is soooooo funny, and very intelligent. His class is very laid back, and he often gets off topic in his lectures, but they are always interesting.
This class is boring. If you enjoy vidoes and long boring discussions then this is your class. His videos are like elephant tranquilizer and his lectures are even worse since he doesn't turn off the light. Anyway, good luck if you plan on taking this guy.
his class is very easy as long as u go to class. He has like a 3 question quiz at the end of every class and like 2 midterms which are opennote and u can talk to ppl during them. the only hard part is the paper which u will learn to do at least one month before class ends
very very easy no hw, alot of extra credit, quiz or midterm open book and notes, easy A take it if u want A one thing he talk alot alot, very annoying
hella easy teacher, the most boring class ever in the entire galactical universe. all you have to do is do a couple quizzes and one measly term paper by the end of the class which you could practically turn in the second day of class. extra credit everyday. i suggest you bring food or gum to class.
He made me rewrite my Philosphy paper. Just in case, don't throw them out until he issues your grade.
all i gotta say is EASY A. yeah it may be boring but you can show up late leave early and have someone else turn in your quiz.no homework at all juss extra credit and the exams are open book. the downside is the term paper which is somewhat difficult but you can look at a lot of examples.
Dr. Harwood's class is easy as long as you attend class everyday and turn in your final essay (which you should start at least one week before it's due). He's nice and understanding (yeah, and a bit boring, but what do you expect? It's school) The easiet A you can ever EARN.
Easy A. Watch movies all day and take notes. Quizzes are based on what he says in class. The only major assignment is the term paper (get a whole semester to start on). Caution: ask for a "receipt" when u turn in your term paper. He will claim that he never got it just to get out of grading for some dumb reason.
EASY A (for those who attend class)!!! Each day, you watch video(s), write down some quotes, state whether or not you agree with it, & give your reason (it doesn't even have to be logical; just bs if you don't know). One paper (but not really a term paper format; VERY EASY) btw, i took the class during winter session. REMEMBER: COME TO CLASS!
he's funny.
if u want A and w/out doing any hard work, take this, if u want to learn, then take some other teacher, test r open book, even quiz, he'll give u the answer in class, no hw, if u want extra creadit just do the hw, u don't have to go, only on test if u want, very boring class,
A very boring class, but an easy A. He counts attendence, so you have to be there. I took it as a summer class, and it was very LONG. He's not a very dynamic speaker, but there's extra credit every day. Just do the term paper and quizzes, you'll be fine.
He has so many students that he makes errors. I turned in my term paper two weeks early and got an incomplete at the end of the semester due to "administrative error" on his part. Took me 2 months to get it fixed. He is not PC and insults anyone's religion except his own. Easy to get a good grade but tests are REALLY LONG and class is boring...
I took his class during the summer and it was very boring. All we do is watch videos and do extra credit. When it came down to do some work, it's all in groups, and I don't think it counted for anything. We had a sub for the last 3 weeks and I liked the sub better than this teacher.
Okay, I took him a few years ago and yes I would love to take him again. He makes his class in a way where you can get a good grade. Does he talk alot yes, but he is also a lawyer too. I got a A in his class I took him at night. He is not mean boring if he talks for an hour you watch videos for an hour. Some talk all the time.. Get over it people
He stated if you never talked in class, the least you can get was a C. I never talked, but was there for every class, did my term paper and probably bombed the final, yet I manage to get an A. His class is boring, but easy. He gives you the test questions in advance and his final is similar to it!
he is an ok teacher the one thing i didnt like is all the extra credit made me think i had a really good grade. it is more work than he makes it seem like and nobody does most of the work
This teacher was horrible! Toward the end of the semester, he always left class to do "errands" and put the class into "learning groups." Yes there was reading, but no note-taking, book out-of-date, and expensive! His tests are based on anything said in class, including readings & tangents. Term paper is 6 ABC sets. Do not take this class!
Took him a while back. He talks an hour; you watch videos for an hour and give your pros and cons to quotes in it. Comment once in awhile. Do the extra credit and paper and you will be fine. I agree get over it people easy A or B
Okay professor, he talks alot but not related to the courses. Don't buy the big text book, the quizzes is out of the small book. Small groups once awhile; examined the previous class term papers. Term paper is due end of the semester. Alot of video and alot of ABC sets. I LIKE THIS CLASS BECAUSE IT EASIER THEN OTHER PROFESSORS.
Did not listen in class. He talks about random things. Open books and open notes for quizzes and final. He requires two books but we didn't really used it. T/F quizzes and final.
show up and do the quiz bank questions and do all extra credit. final is a term paper and questions easy as pie.. I slept everytime and still got an A
HORRIBLE! He shouldn't be aloud to teach. Not once did we learn about Philosophy. All we did everyday was watch movies on Bigfoot and UFOs. Terrible, terrible teacher. A perfect example about what is wrong with the system. Easy A however if you just want the transfer units. Terrible if you are actually interested in Philosophy...
Coolest teacher, has an imagination of a psychopath and is really funny. Great class. Easy A.
Dr H is very knowledgable. Does go off on tangents-ALOT, but all in all he's good. He does need a TA or something cause he is not organized and that gave me anxiety. I agree that he's a "gracious grader". DO not procrastinate on his Term Paper though that thing is crazy. Open note test/ a bunch of extra credit assignemnts make his class easy
Grading methods are unknown. Rarely got my quizzes back. Lots of extra credit. Easy, but if you want to learn philosophy I suggest someone else. Lots of videos as well. He says attendance is mandatory but he's very unorganized that I don't think he can keep track anyways.
You have to attend every class for quizzes at the end. Quizzes and final exam are multiple choices, picking from the test bank. One term paper due on final exam date. Follow guideline for Term paper to get an A. There are a lot of extra credit. Highly recommend Dr.H to you.
This class is really easy! Gives extra credit every day. You get quizes everyday in class but their all extra credit. Watched videos almost all the time and you get extra credit for writing notes on the video too. He's really into his work and keeps you interested.
Really helpful. If you ask him anything weather its through email or in person he will really take his time to make sure that you understand. I don't understand why people are complaining about not learning philosophy when he assigned us a book to read and if you read even half of it you will learn a lot about philosophy. Great professor overall.
He is awsome! SO EASY! Just go to Class, take notes, talk every once in a while, and watch the videos in class. Do all that and you got an A. He is the nicest teacher I will ever meet.
Professor Harwood is one of the best teachers at EVC. Highly recommended to every person who wants to take phil. This teacher always keeps light atmosphere in the class and is very humorous. Loved his class and loved how he helps students with anything and is more than willing to encourage them. Jus don't murmur in the class and do the work!!
Easy class. Although we learned more about conspiracy theories than philosophy. Watched a lot of videos too. Tells a lot of stories but I don't think they hardly relate to philosophy.
Harwood has an unusual system but it is one of the best class experiences I've had. If you communicate with him, he will respond promptly and thoroughly. In class you'll mostly study conspiracy theoriescryptids while he cracks quick-witted jokes, then you'll take an easy quiz based on the reading. Taken him for 2 classes and highly recommend.
I dont know what my grade was all semester, but i got an A. Very confusing if your like me and have to know your grade everyday second of the day, but its all extra credit so how can you fail? The only thing is the final, its a long paper about who knows what. Weird class format, but not hard.
wouldn't take again and the paper is hard
Mr. Hardwood is interesting. He's a really funny guy, he always tries to make the class laugh which is necessary at 7:45 am. He gives quizzes daily based off a handout he gives on the first week so it's pretty easy, the final paper is confusing but he offers lots of help throughout the semester. Participate and you will pass.
You have a test every class from a testbank given the first day of class. He continuously graded the tests wrong (due to an off key) and would make everyone submit separate corrections even though we all had the same answers. The term paper was mostly copy and pasting his definitions with opinion sprinkled in (got an A) and this guy loves to talk.
Took this course Summer 2015. He gave out a packet of simple statements from the book (that he provides) that were either T/F. Daily quizzes based on the book were easy, because 95% of the time they were group quizzes and they were from the packet. For the paper, just pick a topic of interest. Although it'll take some time, it isn't too hard.
He gives out a lot of extra credit, he will also give you a free book so you don't have to buy it yourself. You can tell he cares about the class. Very easy but good. Make sure to start the paper early ! Make sure to participate and make sure he knows your name for good participation.
He is a very great teacher, I would recommend his class to everyone. He is very funny, I always looked forward to this class.
Mr. Harwood is a great Philosophy professor. The book we read in class was perfect for an intro level Philosophy student. His lecture is awesome, and he keeps it moving well with his humor. If you do the work you will get everything you put into this class and more. I highly recommend this professor.
He spends most of the class time telling his life story and probably practicing his stand up comedy act. Most of the quizzes and ABC sets end up as "extra credit", which the syllabus show to be part of the grade. When it comes to the term paper, he has an unnecessarily complex template that you either follow or fail. I learned nothing from him.
His assignment can be very confusing, but if you have a friend who took his class already, borrow that material because its the same. His grading is easy. Hes a very chill teacher, just the final research paper worth a lot
Final term paper has a terrible format that needs to be followed. It is very hard to follow and overly complicated. If you don't follow his format, it is most likely that you will fail his class because the final term paper is worth 45% of your overall grade. So, if you are into writing, go ahead take him otherwise do not take him.
Dr. Harwood is both very funny and a great teacher. The best part of about his class is that he provides the required textbook so that one doesnt have to buy it. Also, Dr. Harwood is very helpful with any material that I needed help with and is quick to respond to emails.
He is so caring and helpful. I was scared of the final paper at first, but with his help, I was able to get an A on that paper. He is hilarious too. You wont never get bored in his class.
Honestly, one of the coolest guys out there. I was very scared of the class because I wasn't interested in philosophy. But I do recommend taking him, especially during the summer. He's easy and chill. Quizzes everyday, but it was open book. Final paper was pretty easy because he guided you through it and he's an easy grader.
Seems like an easy class with little to no homework and tons of extra credit, but his ABC format is mad confusing and hard to follow. Just reading the the guideline sheet gave me a headache. Participation is based on the daily quizzes turned in at the end of every class. Honestly, I would not recommend this class.
Don't take his class! It's like waiting at the DMV. Assigns a 15 question quiz every class and that's it. Doesn't even lecture. For the research paper you have to follow a very specific format that's completely unnecessary. Prompt is provided in the first week, but unclear grading. Also, he was on the news for breaking the law. Look it up.
this is an easy A class. but of course you have to do your part which is show up to class regularly and take daily quiz and participate which is not hard at all. He does everything to help a student get an A in this class. lots of extra credit for those who's not much of a test taker! much recommended!
Professor Harwood is one of the rare types who truly does want their students to succeed. He responds to emails promptly and is always willing to help provide materials for his class. This class was a great experience.
Fairly easy class. However, little to no class-time preparation for the Final Term Paper. We didn't go over any example, etc of this not once during the entire semester in class. Had to figure it out at the end. Somewhat of a challenge having no prior experience prepping a paper with the guidelines, etc. Bit of a disappointment.
Professor H was a very helpful teacher where whenever we would have a question about anything regarding philosophy he would respond to emails very quickly. Also, the way he was teaching us was fun, because he discussed all of the materials in class where at first it was very confusing because it has a lot of information but when you come regularly.
Dr. H is the best professor!!!! At first his lectures looked so hard and all the handouts too, but once you start listening him and read all the handouts carefully, you will get it. For the homework you have to do extra credits. He will provide you with hundreds of extra credit material to boost up your grade. He will always help his students! :)
This class requires a lot of reading, but it is quite easy. You must read all the handouts and pay close attention on how to write a term paper correctly. You must ask Dr.H ASAP if you are unsure. You should take full credit for class participation by representing 3 ABC sets in class. Final exam is a piece of cake.
He is a good person, but his teachings is some times just everywhere. His paper was the most confusing paper that I have done. If you do not get his paper I suggest getting it done ahead of time to get feedback from him, it does help. He loves when you participate so make sure you stay on top of that.
Took the class during summer classes and I really enjoyed it. Hard to fail this class if you follow directions, attend and participate. Professor Sterling makes the class fun and interesting.
Star in a super summer! He is really awesome and way of teaching is really easy. Hope everyone teaches like him.
Overall, I felt like the class was kind of disorganized at first but then Dr. Harwood is there to mostly help you write your paper. Get it done early and have him help by putting quptes on the board or else he will discuss other things.
Do not take this class if you intend on learning philosophy from this professor, this class is genuinely just for credit. The term paper takes up 45% of your grade and is incredibly specific to his requirements. Be sure to email him regularly in order to improve your grade on it. Extra credit is abundant and the quizzes are very easy.
Everything revolves around the one-page Great Wall of Text he calls a website. Only a lawyer could love it (go figure), but it's frankly insulting if you want info. And you will, because in class he's too much of a scatterbrain to earnestly cover the material. He makes things easy for himself first, student 2nd, clearly counting down to retirement.
Hes great and very passionate about philosophy. Start the paper soon its not bad. Hes the most caring and kind teacher Ive ever had Would recommend to anyone
I've never rated any teachers, but Sterling Harwood is the first. He is very friendly and precious. I was worried about the subject because it was relatively difficult. I decided to take his class. He always makes the class comfortable. Although during the Covid-19 pandemic, he always helps us day by day.
He is a great professor, very helpfull and gives tons of extra credit. As long as you take the quizes and use the book required follow his direction and tips for paper and USE them you will most def pass this class. highly recommend Professor Harwood if you need this class!!!
Professor Harwood was able to give me additional help inside and outside the classroom. He's very understanding and is willing to work with you as long as you communicate.
Dr. Harwood's unconventional teaching style encourages students to think outside the box and apply philosophical concepts outside the classroom. He's lenient about providing ample opportunities for extra credit and class participation. Also, he's understanding and considerate of struggling students and flexible with extended time for assignments.
He is the best Teacher in EVC. I ever seen it. You should easily get A. Take his class
This class is overal good and is not too much work. The final, while lenghty, is open book and all true and false. The term paper is the major decider in this class, with all the guidelines and the required length, it is a lot of work, but you get the whole semester to work on it, so as long as you don't procratinate like I did, it won't be a issue
Awesome teacher. A bit demanding at first, but if you read the announcements and are willing to write, you will get an A in the class.
Dr. Harwood is awesome
By far my best experience with an online class. He expects a lot out of you, but he gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Always ask him questions and clarification, that is the only way you can pass. The class may seem intimidating but it is a piece of cake once you know what you are doing! take him you won't regret it! he is so coolce
Professor H class was an easy one because he gave so much detailed instructions for me to understand the assignment.
Doc Harwood man, i am telling you, from experience his class are a real gem. His lectures and story are really engaging. He often gets sidetracked and tells unrelated stories, but that's where the best stuff happens. He does have interesting philosophical viewpoints. Easy class, take it if you want a enjoyable experience stress free.
I took this professor for phil 010. It was an asynchronous class with no zoom meetings. For the first month or so I, including many others were lost on what to do with that class. Sure his assignments are relatively easy but his grading criteria is very strict.
Took his class online. His class seems relatively easy but he is very strict with grading. Sure the assignments are easy and theres only one big paper due at the end of the semester but he has way too many guidelines for a philosophy class
I took this class for introduction to philosophy. I disliked the professor because of his strict guidelines. Me including others were lost on many things in the class. His assignments is strict. I lost many braincells because of this professor due to the fact that he spammed emails and wasn't very organized. However, my classmates were so cool!!!!
Took this class for Intro to philosophy. Too many guidelines for the class and if you were to email him a question he would say refer to the doc. If you did a small mistake on your paper not following guidelines he would reject your paper and tell you to fix it
Awesome professor. Very informative. Will help you out in the middle of the night.
Dr. Harwood is probably a stellar lecturer, and great professor overall IN PERSON. Online teaching does not suit this course well. The Canvas shell is unorganized, none of the tools are utilized, grades are not updated, and everything (all 200 PDFs) are dumped in Files. Unfortunately, the lack of order made it very difficult to follow and perform.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND. HIS SUPPER UNORGANIZED AND DOESNT EVEN GIVE U ANY LECTURES. (FALL 2020)
Harwood uses this amazingly unneeded headache of a system with his "A-Z Guidelines" for his Term Paper that's 45% of your grade. Stressed out over this class more than all my other classes combined. Massive headaches figuring things out, I'm sure the entire class was completely confused for the first month on what to do. HIGHLY UNRECOMMEND.
I was super unclear on what to do for the class. Instructions are confusing. He is available pretty much 24/7 but even when I called his cell for help I was still unsure of how to do the work. He has good intentions but wow he is a bad teacher. Last day of class and posted last-minute 185 question quiz, Do yourself a favor, take a different course.
Well, his guidelines are VERY CLEAR. Those who said they can't follow are probably too lazy to read the available materials. He is very caring, conscientious, and hilarious. Texting him 24/7 is true. Since this course has no zoom meeting, you can do everything on your own pace. Recommended
If you get to know Dr.H, you will see him as a passionate and funny professor. His class is not like the other classes but if you put a little more effort into it, you could get more from it. More always better.
It is definitely a passable class. But if you are interested in actually learning philosophy prepare to be disappointed. Everything is done on your own but most of the course were is revolved around conspiracy theories. If you ever need him, he usually responds quickly. A downside is all the instructions are unclear even if you reach out for help
I really didnt like this online class. Genuinely suprised with my grade since I didnt understand a single instruction.
This course is very informative because we will learn to make strong arguments by analyzing quotes from our chosen topics. Also, Dr.H is available 24/7 to answer students' emails with detailed feedback. Besides, this class rarely has due days, and we can resubmit our work until we get an "A."Take this course, and you will never regret it.
Dr. H is always there to answer questions anytime of day. He provided any resources I needed. it was fun!
I got good score on this class because I manage to complete a term paper (Topic: Bigfoot) within a month, take the true/false quizzes, and submit at least 13 abc sets by email to get an 'A' in class. I made my first call with him and he provide good feedback on abc sets and told me that it is possible to do a term paper in 5 hours!
Despite previous reviews, this class was mostly negative in terms of experience. The instructions were very confusing to read, (not lazy, I got an A ). Despite being a philosophy class, Ive learned little about philosophy in general. Many of the ABC sets I wrote were mostly based on conspiracy theories.
Professor Harwood is the best philosophy teacher at EVC. Professor Harwood always help his students. Students can submit their work again and again to get an 'A'. Professor Harwood responds to emails quickly as well.
His syllabus and instruction are very confused. I feel lost in the class with his unclear instruction.
Such a wordy, confusing syllabus. Instructions for assignments are all over the place on Canvas. Hes helpful and responsive via email, but answers can be long & convoluted. Hes oddly insistent on phone calling for help (boundaries?) Has sample term papers but they follow outdated guidelines. To do well, refer to 26 Guidelines & 11 truth tips.
I have taken Professor Harwood and he is very caring for his students. In fact, he allows his students to email him their term papers ahead of time to receive feedback. He lets the students know what they need to do to get their term paper to an A. In addition, he lets students borrow a book if they don't have one. I highly recommend his class!
Amazing guy, amazing course, extremely accessibleyou call call him anytime. I've called him for help at 3 AM! His courses aren't a bad workload at allsimple if your follow instructionsand eye opening. Amazing coursewould recommend!! P.S. He is hilarous!! I got a laugh out of his syllabus.
Stay on top of your assignments and you'll be fine. Great professor, easy assignments and accessible.
Learned nothing about philosophy or critical thinking. The instructions were very confusing to read, and his emails made me more confused. He is very disorganized. He's not hard, but he is not a good teacher. Class was a huge waste of my time and such a headache to dig through his many files. I will say, he is easy to reach and responsive.
Hes pretty good. Hard to tell what its normally like due to COVID
17 page syllabus, conspiracy theories during the age of covid, unclear directions, waste of time and energy. Not worth the stress. Over 130 announcements in a month and a half.
This Professor is willing to work with you and help you in all aspects. He is available for feedback 24/7. Great sense of humor as well.
Dr. H is a great professor that goes in-depth talking about the term paper, the 14 ABC SETS for class participation, the quizzes, and the brag sheets. This class is merely simple, just do the work and you will be fine. I would say work together when you are preparing for the quizzes and always have an index card ready.
Dr.H is a great professor. I would say in this course you have a term paper, brag sheets, quizzes, 14 ABC SETS, and a lot of extra credit. As long as you do the work, you will be fine. Send in the term paper early to get feedback quickly. Work together on the quizzes to get the best results.
Dr. H is a cool and respectable person. His lectures are engaging and memorable. Would recommend him 10/10. His feedback is clear and helpful. There should be no reason to be lost in the course unless one does not ask for help.
Very helpful, lectures are interesting
This course is very informative because we will learn to make strong arguments by analyzing quotes from our chosen topics. Also, Dr.H is available 24/7 to answer students' emails with detailed feedback. Take this course, and you will never regret it.
Attendance is "mandatory" in that the note cards you turn in cover a very small part of your final grade, but come to class regardless to ask him questions and get explanations for what to do on ABC sets, quizzes, and the term paper. You will be lost if you don't come to class or contact him for help. In-person > online for this professor :)
Professor H is one of the coolest old white guys I ever met. The work was mostly done alone, so you have to be on it. Over all I came in thinking I would fail and passed.
I highly recommend this class! Dr.H is very helpful, so don't be afraid to ask questions. If you don't want to ask questions in class, then just email him or call him. Do the work and there are a lot of extra credit opportunities! :D
He is very understanding and always wants to help.
Take this course! Overall it was good! Very helpful!
Take this class, it's really not that bad! He's a pretty respected professor, but just make sure to do the work!
i mean.... at least he was clear on what he wanted? a bit too clear. i cannot even begin to describe the horror that was this class. he has a, if i remember the number correctly, 36-page guideline for logical fallacies and rules he wants you to follow while writing papers for this class. the midterm was a nightmare and the weekly assmts are worse.
The professor is easygoing and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities.
He is funny and gives out a lot of extra credit to raise your grade.
Dr. H's philosophy course is as easy as it gets. He provides no homework really, except 12 pages worth of reading from his book , which he quizzes you on weekly (open note). My advice would be to take his course if you need an easy going professor. Also, do NOT wait last minute to complete his final paper since it takes time to come up with quotes.
Dr.H's class is not that bad, you should take his class. All you have to do is look up quotes to get credit, take quizzes based on the book, and of course the final paper.
Prof. Harwood was really easy and laid back. He never gave out homework just the quizzes but they were always easy. And he always gave out tons of extra credit. Overall he was a great professor.
Dr. Harwood is a great teacher that teaches a class with a lenient approach. He gives students multiple chances and proper corrections about how to do our semester-long term paper. He encourages students to work together if they have the same paper topic and help each other in the open-ended quizzes in our required textbook.
He is the Best Professor at Evergreen valley college. Explained the whole class in a very unique way and overall He is Awesome. The matter in his class is participation.
Class is structured in a way easy to learn logic and critical thinking of quotes and statements. Very enjoyable and entertaining learning about conspiracy theories as well. Lots of extra credit opportunities if willing to participate in class. Not difficult to pass if keeping up with the syllabus. Highly recommended for anyone.
I get why Prof Harwood has so many high ratings. Partly b/c he asks his students to rate his class for extra credit, and partly b/c it's easy (you still need to put in the work to do brag sheets and term paper). But take a different prof if you're trying to learn. He rants most of the class & his "lectures" are hardly lectures, but he's hilarious.
Dr. Harwood is a interesting guy, his lectures are hilarious, but absolutely pointless. Almost no legit material gone over in class, just refers us to files. He is very accessible via phone at almost all hours, but his feedback is very unclear at times. Easy tests. Start the term paper asap to give yourself more time to revise your work
Fall 2022 Semester. Interesting and entertaining class. Purpose is to examine quotes or popular sayings logically and with critical thinking of the words and language used in certain forms. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to expand their awareness to their own way of thinking or beliefs about anything. In class participation is encouraged.
He gave unique and entertaining lectures. His criteria was unique so it may be difficult to understand initially. He grades us on our weekly quizzes, notes taken on what we learned each class, and our final term paper. He gives out a lot of extra credit when showing up to class so be prepared to take advantage of that. Start your term paper ASAP.
Professor Harwood has an interesting way of running his class, show up to do brag sheets, quiz weekly but quite easy. Get started on the paper ASAP. Rants during lecture so there isnt really any materiel learned. He does provide a lot of resources for term papers, and sometimes gives snacks.
very helpful
I strongly recommend this class since Dr.H is pretty reasonable on grading and gives lots of extra credits for you guys. He also offers free textbooks for you guys. We have such a great time studying his class.
Pretty good professor. He doesnt mind you being late. When you're late he doesnt bicker on why your late. Instead he welcomes you to the class and give you details of what you've likely missed out on. He's patient and gives plenty of room for you to make up missing work. There are easy weekly quizzes and a term paper. Barely any homework as well. #1
Easy assignments in class, rarely any hw, extra credit opportunities, great communication for clarity or help inside and outside class. Gets off topic with story telling but balances both. Overall great professor.
Regardless of some of the people supposedly rating highly for extra credit, I found this class entertaining. The teacher points out a lot of useful things you should pay attention to for the classwork and does so hilariously. There's also a chance to get extra credit for helping out. The term paper and the quizzes are very simple. Great overall.
Professor Harwood's class is a great balance of easy assignments, optional extra credit, and engaging lectures. While he can get a bit off-topic, the course material is interesting, and Unstuck study was a helpful study tool.
Can get off topic easily but great guy, very helpful, kind, funny, and easy to contact outside of class. I will say that the term paper can get confusing especially if you're writing on certain topics because of the guidelines he requires you to follow (there's a LOT) AND weekly quizzes are also confusing but overall I had an enjoyable semester!
Professor Harwood was one of my favorite professors ever. He gives clear instructions and examples and helps you throughout the way, so much so that we can even text and call him, which is really helpful. He's super involved and gives a lot of life lessons. It's very easy to earn an A in his class if you follow his directions to a T.
AMAZING!!!!
Although he gives a lot of chances to make up work, or even give out extra credit, I would not recommend this professor if you're actually interested in philosophy. Get ready to read quotes and write them on an index card which serves as your attendance. You'll have a difficult time doing quizzes since he doesn't teach. yap yap yap
Walked home everyday without checking both sides while crossing streets so I could be put out of my misery from having to be present in any of his upcoming “lectures” consisting of graphic toilet humor and counting how many chicken wings are in a value pack that he bought on sale. Take this class if you DON'T want to learn about philosophy!!
Dr. Harwood is incredible. He's available on the phone 24/7 and texts like a friend would. His class rules are straightforward. NO tests, NO homework, NO exams! You have basically one assignment to work on the entire semester, just don't save it till the last minute and ur good! When ppl complain abt him, i know its cuz they have no agency.
This is not a class where you read works from philosophers like Camus or Nietzsche together and go over it. This class focuses on logical and ethical philosophies, how to argue, and learning fallacies. Everyday you bring up a contraversial topic, such as a quote or theory, and Dr. H debates it with you. You learn to think for yourself! So fun!
Easy A. The only reason you wouldn't get an A is if you don't attend class. All the tests/quizzes are easy since he gives the answers to them the class before. The end of the semester essay is easy as long as you follow the format from the example essay. If you fail that's on you.
His class didn't have structure and was very random. Was extremely particular over formatting for the final paper and made me cry over text because he was mocking me, then shared he made a student cry over text basically using me as an example. Worst professor I've ever had, nitpicks everything for HOURS.
his class structure is awful and he nitpicks everything. dont even get me started on the final paper. the format is so confusing and everything he writes is so long. his lectures are also so unnecessary and boring. you literally LEARN NOTHING.
Funny and approachable. Makes coursework=lightwork. As long as you do the bare minimum you'll get an A.
