GREAT Teacher, very easy to understand, helps you as much as you want to be helped, funny, and knows that the subject is boring so tries to make it a little entertaining. There are a few quizzes but they will only help you (they cant hurt your grade)! Im so glad i had him for bio, i would take him again in a second
The only teacher I passed Bio with. Be in class and there's no way you can fail. Really nice guy who will help you as much as you ask. Boring classes, but its all the info from the tests....I'd take him again
Good profeesor kind of overwelms you with evolution c*** though.
his tests are directly off the lecture material, there's no book, which means no reading. he reviews for the test and outlines every essay question for you. i had a night class, and every night he'd have questions to answer. you can't get them wrong because they're exactly what he just lectured over, and they add up to an easy 100 points.
He was a great teacher and really personable and approachable. Also really easy going. I'd definitely recommend him for any class.
One of the things that makes Mr. Arounsack a good teacher of this class is that he is Laotian and a lot of his information is primary
Awesome teacher. I'll recommend this teacher to everybody. He is one of the easiest teacher you can take. I took him in the winter sem. and he made the class so easy.
Wow! What a nice guy! He is very helpful and obviously wants everyone to succeed. The class is a little boring, but it opened up my mind to a lot of things that I never even thought of or took an interest in before. As long as you pay attention in class, you can even get by without reading the material. Great teacher; I would take hime again!
Straight forward and keeps you interested. Alot better than all the other boring BIO teachers on campus. Plus he is wonderful just to stare at and laugh at his jokes

He is a good teacher. Most of his test comes straight out of his lecture so take really good notes. Should read the chapters (I know they are boring) before class. If you read the chapters and take good notes, a pretty easy class.
Exams are straight from lecture, he even tells you what to concentrate on while studying. ! large research paper due. No book. Good instructure.
easy teacher, no book. one major assigment. love the class.
Great professor! I really enjoyed this class and I stongly recommend this professor! Easy class!
He is a nice enough guy who doesn't use a book. However he seems somewhat bored with the class and often avoids taking a stand on politically controversial issues. There really is no reason why a man who holds a doctorate in biology should shy away from discussing evolution.Beyond that the class is easy, though part of your grade is inclass homework
DR.Arounsack is a really helpful professor. He's funny, handsome, helpful, and really nice to talk to. He's really easy to go to for help on assignments. Highly recommend. I got an A in his class. His class is also really fun to attend because he makes it really easy to understand and follow. Bio's not my thing, but he made it really fun.
Really interesting professor. He seems very young. I initially thought he was a student but I guess I was wrong. Taking his BIO 1010 in the summer. Loads of information. He lectures real fast, but he makes it clear and to the point. Very down to earth, easy to talk to and yes cute. I highly recommend taking him for any science classes.
excellent teaching, makes hard concepts seem fun and easy. one of a kind teacher, second to none
Super cool teacher, and he is also hot!
pretty easily one of the best teachers. down to earth, funny, and teaches very well
Good teacher. Very down to earth and understandable. Get him to talk about religion, especially Buddhism, and you'll leave class with a renewed desire to help your fellow human beings. Highly reccommended for any class.
Steve is an awesome professor, he just knows how to make a class simple. He made the most general bio class interesting and he is just a really nice and funny guy. Def. get your bio 1010 out of the way with his class.
Awesome teacher. do the work and you'll do fine. really chill teacher.
good teacher!
geat instructor, who shows passion for his job, cares for the students, and teaches lessons for life
cool guy easy going
He explained the material in pretty clear manner. Role I do not believe is taken, but, attendance is required to get all of the note information to pass the class. You print out the outline for each set of notes to be filled in at class. The textbook is good for reference to better understand, but I think you could get by w/out it. Good teacher.
This guy is awesome! Very hekpful, very interested in you as a student, even in a big class he'll get to know your name. Very funny, easy-going, and his classes are not difficult at all. TAKE HIM FOR BIOLOGY!
Really good professor.
Great teacher. Fairly easy. Great powerpoints notes.
Very knowledgeable, and willing to help students. Uses a lot of Powerpoint but to good effect. He is an intelligent and understanding professor.
Easy going teacher but test can make or break you.
Teacher is good and clearly explains the material
I ABSOLUTELY adore Arounsack! I was worried Bio was going to be boring, but he makes it sooooo interesting! After being in his class I decided I wanted to minor in Bio. His tests are super easy if you just study the notes. He provides study guides and the notes are all print-outs. He's my favorite professor and I recommend him for sure.
Great professor. Clear on lectures and makes them interesting. As long as you study, attend class, and take good notes you should do fine in his class.
During my 3 years at CSUS, I can easily say that Steve is one of the best professors Ive had. Although the class was not easy, the level of respect he has for his students & innovative approaches he takes to teaching made the class so enjoyable and the work much more fun. I looked forward to class each week.I highly recommend taking a class w/ him.
I really enjoy the class. He is challenging but he's willingly to help you. He made lecture fun and he uses various techniques to help clarify dome information to students. He also offer extra study session to prepare the students for exams. For this class, make sure to study! :)
Great professor.Clear on lectures and makes them interesting.Study and attend class and you'll be fine
Really cool professor. Can be hard at times but make sure to STUDY and take good NOTES. Quizzes every week multiple choice very easy. Reading is intresting and the activities are fun and are in groups. STYUDY STUDY for mid terms and exams.!
he's a great teacher. he keeps it interesting and challenging. this is not the teacher you want to take if you want a free ride, but the one to take if you want to learn. i learned a lot.
He was a great teacher and very helpful. Science is difficult for me but I still got an A in a summer course. 24 chapters in 18 class sessions. His lecture notes help a lot. I really like his calm teaching style because it make the class less stressful. There is a lot of class interaction to keep it interesting.
the best professor ever.
Great class, easy to understand. Keeps the students interested and easy to relate to.
Very interesting class. This was my first televised class and he lectured as if he was present. Answered emails promptly and was fair in terms of test question issues. Great instructor!
Good instructor and very easy to work with
great teacher. makes bio understandable for everyone and gives you a studyguide
Great Professor. Be prepared to read the entire book. All notes and anything in the book are fair game for exams. Exams are difficult. Class is interesting, and he enjoys teaching it. Very friendly and helpful!
Great professor! Really helpful especially when needed, really calm as well. Take this professor if you have a chance you wont regret it only if you hate art or any other type of class he teaches.
Great Professor for Bio.
Great lectures made the material easier to get down. He gives frequent quizes which are no problem if you read before class. Tests were fair and he is happy to answer your questions. I attended class, read my texts and studied and I had no problems (But be sure to read test questions carefully).
TAKE THIS TEACHER FOR BIO! If you're not a bio major, this is the teacher you want to take. He is funny, HOT and uses real life examples to make biology understandable!
He is by far one of the best professors! His class consisted of a quiz per week, but it wasn't difficult. Keep up with the reading and you are good to go. Study guides is pretty much like his exams. Lectures were fun and interesting. I mean come on, he let us out early! I decided to take one of his upper div. class because he is that great!
a-m-a-z-i-n-g. end of story.
He is not teaching Biology anymore, we were his last class. He went to the Anthropology department.
By all means best professor ever. Dr. Arounsack makes lectures fun and interesting. Very helpful man. Really cares about his students. Not surprised why many people love him. He is just a great professor :-)
greatest bio teacher ever
He is a great professor! Lectures from powerpoint. Weekly quizzes (that are very easy) and 3 100pt tests that are directly from lecture. He is really helpful and is willing to answer any questions you may have. Super cool guy!
Throughout my college years, I have yet to experience a professor as great as he is. Passionate about what he is teaching his students, & strives for them to do their best. You should attend classes and read your notes and book. The tests are all right, but if you go to lecture, you should be fine. Amazing teacher, and my favorite professor ever.
He has got to be the best anthro teacher ever! I definitely recommend taking his class. He makes everything understandable and interesting. Also extremely funny; I always look forward to his class
His is a nice, funny guy but his test are hard and don't apply to the material. This call is all tests and he will spring test on you out of know where. One big project that doesn't even help your grade. So if you aren't a good test taker, don't take him! I went to every class and participate but he still didn't pass me. Beware
Very good professor. Makes you want to participate because of the great relationships he tries to make with his students. Best professor ive had so far. And im not even and Anthro or Art major!!
He is a great professor. He is fair, clear, and open to help you succeed. He has a way about him that is clam, and approachable. He no longer teaches biology but take him for whatever. You will learn if you show up and do the work.
Response for Dec 15: If you attend class and write the answers on tests you will be fine. His tests are not that bad and the topic is very interesting. I enjoyed this class and recommend him as well. Good teacher!
ok heres the deal idk if he changed teaching styles or what happened, but basically he teaches straight off power point. yes, there are discussions, but it can be intimidating to express your thoughts as he tends to make fun of it if he doesnt agree. He can be funny but most of the time he does it at other people's expense. pretty average to me.
Took his class for ANTH3000, ANTH2060, & BIO1050! He is fair, helpful, approachable. Yes, the tests are not easy but if you attend class & read your textbook & listen to his lectures, he makes the material easier to understand. Anyone who disagrees are usually students who put half-effort into their work or are no-shows to class.
The class is easy ! He mostly gives a quiz each week. The quizzes are easy. The exams were a bit hard for me. Other than that I really liked him. He is a chill professor.
He is a great Professor. He gives a quiz every week. The exams seemed hard for me. But overall he is a chill professor. I like his attitude.
best professor ever
He is a wonderful teacher!!
He expects a lot, and wants his students to earn there grades. There is a weekly quiz but he does not tell you what day it is on so you are expected to come to class everyday. He has a strong passion for the subject, I would recommend him if your willing to work for your grade!
I loved this class!! Just show up to class and pay attention to the lectures. I'd recommend reading the book. Weekly quizzes but they really help when it comes to take the exam. Loved his class, would take many more of his classes.
Dr. Arounsack is not very helpful at all. He pretends to want to help and be open to office hour visits, but then he flip -flops and closes his doors to his students. He kind of sucks.
I did not like this class at all, I didn't feel like he explained the material well or offered much help. He relied on you reading the book on your own and teaching yourself. Tests were hard and he gave pop quizzes weekly. He was very sarcastic and rude. He did let us out of class early often!
Tests were hard. Didn't clarify. Tests were not like study guide. Wouldn't respond to emails.
Super interesting class. Clear and concise teaching style. Allowed for creativity in his class, which was unique. Definitely worth taking.
Excellent llecturer
Dr. Arounsack is amazing! His lectures are always so interesting that you'll never get bored of them. He does power points for each chapter so take notes and pay attention at what he talks about. There's always surprise quizzes so read up on the chapters beforehand and the vocabulary and you'll do fine. Definitely recommend him!
This professor is very smart and is there for you. It is a tough class, no joke. There is a lot of reading, don't skip class because his lectures and slides is where the test comes from. But hands down, his tests were the hardest I've taken, but you actually end up learning a lot, because of the way his tests are formed. It is actually a fun class!
He doesn't give much opportunity for points outside of the test and group project, which is a huge downfall to the class. With that said, even though it was challenging I learned a great amount in this class. He is a good teacher and his lectures were always intriguing. Attend all classes because the test are all from the lecture notes.
Although there is quite a bit of reading, the professor really explains and helps students to understand; would definitely recommend
Dr. Arounsack is hands down the best professor I've ever taken. He learns who his students are and really cares about their success. He explains the material very well and has open discussions with the class to make sure everyone understands. Just read the chapter before the weekly quiz and study the study guide and you'll do fine in his class.
Dr. Arounsack is my favorite professor of all time. ANTH3106 was a fun class! He's such an incredible, well-respected professor because he speaks candidly from experience. He's a fair grader, and it's really just the 3 exams and group project, so be sure to go to class and just take in all the knowledge and wisdom he is there to provide. )
Amazing professor to say the least. Although anthropology may be a difficult topic for many, he is very throrough and gives the best lectures. He explains everything until you understand it, gives great examples from his own experience and allows the students to further engage in the subject. Inspiring and of the best in Stanislaus State
Great teacher, professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about his work. However, you better be ready to work, and work hard.
Wonderful teacher - be ready to read though! Id have to say he does keep everything very interesting!
I LOVED this class!! You definitely need to read the book to get a good grade because he does quizzes on every chapter (and the points count for a large part of your grade) BUT the class is worth the work. He genuinely cares about his students and he makes his lectures interesting and engaging. Couldn't recommend enough!
I loved this class! You do have to read the textbook to get a good grade, but once a week we did in class activities that are so fun! One of my favorite professors so far at Stan.
By far one of my favorite professors. His lectures are so interactive and he's so intelligent in his studies. Pop quizzes every week and group discussions. I really appreciated his class, it was a nice relief due to other difficult courses I had going on. 3 exams total. Need book because quizzes and tests are based on that.
There are pop quizzes but if you read you'll be fine, plus he gives extra credit, for example he'll say "add 2 points to that cause you deserve it". His tests are a bit challenging but he curves them in the sense that if the question is missed too much he just takes it off. Overall he's a great professor and you can tell he cares about his students
One of the best professors I have had! He wants everyone to participate in the class which makes it enjoyable. The book provides information that he does not discuss so you do need to read. You are graded on a few things which can be difficult however if you have a question ask him! He is always willing to help. I recommend going to office hours.
Took professor Arounsack during Covid. Lots of writing, does not provide feedback or respond to emails. Every few weeks there is a 10 page paper due of summaries, long discussion posts where he isn't specific, and 4 page essays with no guidance. He expected us to understand the stock market. Too much work for a gen ed.
Took this class over zoom and Professor Arounsack was really accommodating and gave great lectures. As long as you keep up with the work and attend lectures, this class is pretty easy. Also responds to emails or office hours for any clarification.
Took this class online during covid. Consists of 5 discussions, 3 ten-page summaries of the reading, and 3 four-page essay exams. Occasional extra credit Kahoot quizzes but only those who place top 3 receive points. His lectures and powerpoints are clear but he hardly gives any direction or feedback on assignments.
Professor Arounsack is one of the coolest professors I have met, he makes class fun and not so serious. Its interesting the way he explains his lectures, theres 3 exams, 3 six page chapter summaries and discussion boards every 2 weeks I believe. I would 100% take him again if I could. Shout out to you Professor S!
The only online class i took this year that i got sad when class waas canceled.
It was an honor to have a teacher so dedicated to ensuring the success of his students. This course can catch up to you if you leave the essay summaries up till the last minute, but the course overall is not challenging. The professor is accommodating to every student and has immense patience. He truly wants everyone to succeed even beyond school
Even online, this enjoyable class was very engaging, with students able to share their knowledge/thoughts (&weekly investment comments, lol). Three 10-page summaries based off lectures and book are lengthy, obviously, so don't procrastinate on them, especially since you grade basically comprises of those and three 6-page exams, plus participation.
professor arounsack is an amazing teacher. he's super nice, funny, and has clear lectures. We have three 10 page papers and three 6 page exam papers through the whole class and that's it. If you try and just follow the layout, it should be easy to get an A or B. I definitely would recommend this teacher and would take again! Very interesting class
Professor Arounsack is very chill. Hes funny and makes the class interesting. Makes sure his students are learning and understanding the topics. He offers extra credit opportunities throughout the semester.
Most assignments are just discussions and essay exams. You do have to read the book but isn't boring. Just do the work and attend class, you'll pass.
Dr. Arounsack has a deep dedication for Anthro. and his method of teaching and getting the class involved in a deeper level of discussion is very enjoyable and beneficial. We had discussion posts on textbook chapters with a relevant article, exams were similar but he provides prompts (6pg total), all not difficult. He is a wonderful prof!
Dr. Arounsack (Ah-roon-sack) is a great professor. He's engaging, charming, and very easy to want to pay attention to. He's also very relatable! His lectures are never boring, always engaging, and interesting to sit in on if you're of a different major! He also provides extra credit in the form of Kahoot games! Fun guy, fun class :)
Professor Arounsack is a very kind and funny guy! He really teaches very amazing lectures and I learn so much from his stories.
After looking at the reviews I thought I would get through this class easily. No zoom recordings or lectures only powerpoints about the countries we were supposed to write about. We had to do a 10-page Summary of those countries along with Essay Exams once a month which wasn't bad I just hoped there were lectures that explained the slides.
I chose him randomly. Hardest tests I've ever taken. The quizzes and tests mostly do not apply to what is in the book. He has notes that aren't on the test and has us just read from the book. There are no lectures, hardly any responses, it seems as if he is here for money and is set out to fail as many people as he can. So much for doctorates title
Weekly quizzes and exams were 2 3 paged essays all do the same day. No homework but there was group assignments based on the chapter/discussion we had during that day. Super nice prof. Gives great feedback! Would take again but not a fan of 6 paged paper, I personally hate writing.
One of my favorite classes bc he cares about his students and offers lots of extra credit. It is a bit textbook-heavy, but he also does lectures that highlight the needed material for quizzes. Lots of group discussions and in-class group assignments but overall it was a very fun class and I would highly recommend this professor
Such an amazing professor!! The exams were essays between 8-10 pages but there is so much to write about it goes fast, also doesn't trip if it's not the full 8. Has quizzes but relates to the readings so if you do the readings you're good.
The class is made up of quizzes, from the book and video lectures, and essay exams, in which he will outline clearly what he wants you to include and the grading criteria. They have to be a couple of pages, but concepts are not difficult and video lectures and the book will be helpful. He grades and provides feedback on exams quickly.
Professor Arounsack's ANTH3000 class is engaging and manageable if you keep up with the readings and assignments. The exams and papers can be lengthy, but using resources like Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook makes study prep a breeze. Overall, a worthwhile and interesting course.
I loved this class because there are two exams one from the readings and lectures and the second putting a camera together along with anthropology. The is a group documentary you shoot footage that can take some time to film and edit making you want more time. I learned so much and enjoyed this class alot.
