Sharp mathematician!! He actually writes part of the nation-wide AMATYC exam. Good teacher for partial credit and explains grading esp. in office hours, clear speaking voice, good chalk-board handwriting (that's important!).

Very good instructor. Tends to go a bit fast, but will stop and answer if you ask. He is the most giving of time of any instructor I've ever known. He is extremely interested in student success. If you work, he'll bend over backwards to help you.

VERY smart (genius level, I'm serious), knows his stuff and how to clearly explain a simple concept 20 ways till you understand, if you ask. Homework is reasonable, tests are challenging. I later took the same subject at a UC and he taught it way better.

He is so sweet. He goes over any questions on homework in class. Easy grader. Very clear. Tests are not that hard, just go to class and you will be fine. He has dumb jokes, but he is nice. Sit in front, he will like you and you will get an A.

Great teacher! Was always available during office hours, though you might have to wait since he was often helping someone. It wasn't that the work was easy, but he made it easy by being such a good teacher.

Blasberg is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I'm not a big math person but he does a great job of explaing things clearly and made what we were doing make sense.

This instructor does not follow the text books. He knows the material as he is a professor on this math subject, but he CANNOT deliver to the students effectively for being very fast, and quite often his material are of the text book.

Very cool teacher, his attitude is that if you skip class it doesn't matter as long as you perform on quizzes and tests. I skipped more than half the classes and got a strong A. He's really cool and if I didn't understand he always took the time to explain.

A really great guy. He's so into what he's teaching and you can teel that he loves what he does. He loves to help you and will go over something a thousand times just so you feel comfortable about it while remaining calm and studious. I love this guy. I want to take him in any other class I get! A++

Actually if u take them both at the same time they have crossover which helps. But if you get the chance take this guy he is funny and really loves teaching. He will make you like math

Steve rocks. He'll make calculus understandable for you (yes it is possible). The tests and quizzes are predictable ans straight from the class exercices. Very fair grading. He is very personable, always ready to help. The guy is a genius too, went to Stanford.

Very effective teacher, has a good teaching style, points out common mistakes often so you don't make them. Doesn't really care if you show up for class. Very, very effective teacher, would recomond highly.

He's cool, though he oftentimes goes too fast. If you need extra help, visit him during office hours. Otherwise, he's fairly lenient with grading and doesn't care about attendance or when homework is due. Best of all, he'll almost always let you have more time with quizzes/exams, even on the final exam - just ASK! :)

He's a really GOOD math professor. Definitely RECOMMEND him. He knows the material so well. Doesn't exactly use the examples in the book but uses the same concept. Pretty laid-back class. Don't miss out on any class sessions or else you'll be left behind. Tests are based on quizzes. Easy stuff if you take him.

Awesome Teacher! Highly recomended! He is so flexible and wants his students to succeed. He wil offer as much extra help as you need and allows you to take quizes later if needed. He tells jokes that actually keep you awake during his lectures about boring Finite math. Take this teacher.

MATH 10 - STATISITICS - Mr. Blasberg is an awesome teacher, I definitely would recommend taking his class. He is super helpful, has office hours, willing to help you understand, wants you to succeed. Deadlines are flexible for homework and tests etc...All tests based on quizzes. Don't miss a class though or you'll be lost. He's great!

Elem. Stats. By far, the best math teacher I've ever had. He's so nice to his students and has no problem taking extra time to help you out. Tests & quizzes are super easy. Homework is due every week. Final is comprehensive - but still pretty easy. Do NOT miss even one class, or else you'll be a whole chapter behind!

Easy to understand and best part is the quizes are basically the exams and the exams are the final. So take all the quizes and you'll have all you need to study from.

I could barley add 4+2 but Mr. B did a great job explaining the material. If you have to take stats he's the man with the chronic plan!

The material is not easy to learn & he doesn't show every step on the board. However, he is the most helpful and patient prof. I've had. He's goofy to be around. He is willing to help you on everything. Show up to class, take notes and take the quizzes. Then for the final just study from the quizzes. He also does math in his head-super smart!

PROS: hes a great teacher, smart, helpful, his tests r made from his quizes! easy office hours, helps every1 equaly not just the smart people.CONS: assigns only even problems, often explains how to solve hw without writhing it on the board, sometimes gives VERY quick lectures because he ran out of time, doesnt alow cheat sheets on heavy formula ch.

Although Mr. Blasberg has little discipline over his class, his test were EXTREMELY EASY. He takes test questions STRAIGHT FROM THE QUIZZES. Even if you bomb the quiz, he goes over the all the answers in class. Just copy everything down and you will get an easy A. He only assigns even problems and is a bit boring but other than that he is fine

Blasberg dominates!!!! If u wanna learn math, hes da dude to take n helps u alot in quizes and tests especially if u noe most of the problem. Id take him again in da future if i get that chance. Aldoe, he only gives even probs in hw and usually goes over the time for like 1 or 2 mins but other than that hes really chill.

i actually got an A in his class. his test are created from his quizes so you have no excuse not to get an A on the test. hes funny and explains calc very well and has the BEST office hours of all the professors and loves to help students. take him hes GREAT!

He is the greatest math teacher in the world! I loved taking math 002 with him, and he is sooo kind and helpful. Even if you dont get it the first time, he'll explain it to you a million times, and he'll be happy to do it, very patient, plus he's really funny, he makes the class actually fun!!!

He's awesome! He teaches very well! Do the homework everyday and your good! Make sure you understand the homework. If you don't you go over it the next day. If you need help he'll take his time to help you! If you have a question, he'll answer it very thoroughly! If you falling behind, he'll help you pace back up! It's just the matter of trying!

Blasberg is my all time favorite math teacher that I have ever had since I came to West Valley. He definitely knows his stuff! He is very kind and helpful, and is always in his office whenever you need a hand with a problem. He gives hints on tests if you ask him because he knows what will get your mind working. blasberg is awesome. go to class so you don't miss anything but it isnt mandatory. quizzes are often but he drops 2 lowest scoring ones. about 4 tests and a final. some of his test/quiz questions are difficult but he will give you hints if you ask for clarification. very helpful!

Hes the best! lets you come in during office hours n continue on yr test when needed :) n goes though all the hw problems during class hes wonderful!!! n hw is due when u take the quiz for that chapter. He teaches clear just show up to class he doesnt keep attendance and works W/Out POWER POINT which works best for me!!hes really easy

Blasberg is the best math teacher that I have ever met. His knowledge is awesome in every single Math subject from Stat, Finite, to Calculus. He clearly knows his stuff. Completely cool and nice teacher that I've ever met. Highly recommend. Try to take Math with him as much as possible. Students love him, the greatest Math teacher we've ever had.

He's very passionate about what he teaches and is extremely smart. His class was easy, if you could understand his teaching method. I found that the majority of the class was having trouble comprehend what he was explaining. He'll show one way of doing a problem then say don't do it that way and show you the "right" way which can get confusing.

Very nice teacher who knows everything about math. One quiz a week on the previous chapter. Drops two lowest quiz grades out of 10 quizzes. Drops 2 lowest homework grades out of 10 and there's a total of four tests (consisting of two chapters). Extremely helpful IF YOU ASK QUESTIONS.

Mr Blasberg is a great guy. The only thing I don't like about his class is that he lectures a lot. He assigns MINIMAL homework and excepts all late work. He's a great teacher. I highly recommend him!

Blasberg seems like one of those rare teachers who knows his subject well enough to respond to those looking to learn it in-depth, and explain it to those who just need to learn it.

Conceptually speaking, this was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken, but Steve teaches it very well. He's a mathematical genius, but that doesn't hinder his ability to teach. He does tell stories, but I found them interesting. Don't take this class unless you have to, but if you have to, take it with Steve.

Prof. Blasberg is a great teacher. He knows a great deal about the subject and is passionate. The homework is hard, but he answers all homework questions and the tests are very reasonable. My only complaint is that class time was managed poorly, and we ended up not going over some of the material.

my favorite prof. at west valley! He is retiring this year though. Too bad WVC is losing it's best math teacher. He made a tough class understandable, and is always around for office hours.

I am currently taking Discrete Math with Blasberg; overall, he is AWESOME! He loves math and gives students many opportunities to succeed by allowing make-up tests and extra test time on all tests and quizzes. He is disorganized and often late to class but it adds to the fun of the class. This is his last semester; I wish you well Mr. B! :)

great teacher. i dont say that often. he retired, but says he may come back and teach part time in 2013-2014, but only for the more advanced math classes. he doesnt want to teach petty stuff like algebra anymore.

We easily came in first in the country at West Valley thanks to him. Blasberg definitely the best math instructor I have ever.

I never had any instructor as flexible as Mr. Blasberg. This is his last semester coz he gonna retire :( I should know him before. He is so nice and helpful. come to his office and he will help you solve your problem. He is an awesome teacher :)

He has very inspiring lectures. Everyone gets a 1010 or 9+ on the quizzes. TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A FUN AND EASY CLASS.

Blasberg is SUPER nice and very lenient. He's basically the smartest professor at West Valley (got his BS and Master's at Stanford), so you will really benefit from him IF you read the book before the lecture! Math 4C is a really theoretical class, so if you're used to teachers spelling everything out for you on the board, get ready for a change!

Enthusiastic, passionate, a wizard with a whiteboard. He tries his hardest to make a conceptually tough subject manageable. Fast-paced but understanding and very approachable. Take notes when he's just talking--he doesn't always use the board. Bring a calculator every day. He doesn't write chapter/section numbers on the board--consult your book.

Person below who rated poorly is just salty. He's probably the best teacher I've ever had. Considering he has a triple(!) masters in CS, math, and teaching from STANFORD, I still wonder why he teaches instead.

Super fun class; you will surely make lots of friends especially if you're a high schooler. Class gives kids an opportunity to collaborate to learn; very few people leave with a B or below. His lectures are equivalent to tests/quizzes if you pay attention, which I recommend since his explanations are very good. Non mandatory class is great too.

He explains everything really clearly, definitely way better than the textbook. If you just listen and pay attention in class, you'll pass. You also learn a lot of interesting things during. It might be tests/quizzes heavy but if you know the basics, you won't fail because he gives you ample of time to do them and answers any questions you have.

I've never in my life described a teacher as precious but then there's Blasberg. He explains everything pretty well and quizzes and tests aren't that hard if you do your homework and study a bit. Even if attendance isn't mandatory, you should still attend his class.

First of all, Blasberg accepts every student off his waitlist. Last semester, he had over 50 students for just my class! That is enough to earn my utmost respect. Yes, the lectures are boring, but if you do the hw and review the textbook, you will do just fine. Quizzes are based of hw, and half the problems from the test come off quizzes.

Blasberg is one of the most accomodating professors I've had before. He allows late submissions for quizzes and tests within reason. The grade is also really easy to get. He drops two quizzes, one homework assignment, and replaces one test with the final. The questions on the tests are the exact same as the quiz problems.

Best multi var teacher ever

He's an awesome guy who's passionate about teaching. He often stays up to an hour after class to talk with students or give students extended time on tests and quizzes. Tests and quizzes are difficult at times, but he does not hesitate to help you out if you ask.
