Not a good instructor, maybe for algebra but not calculus
THIS GUY IS HORRIBLE, HE NEEDS TO GET A NEW METHOD OF TEACHING, OR MAYBE NEEDS A JOB IN A DIFFERENT FIELD, BECAUSE HE IS A BAD TEACHER
Hard instructor, but will help you through if your willing to apply yourself.
he make math fun and interesting.
He is very confussing. He often shows three different solving techniques for one specific problem all at once. He mumbles to his self. He is VERY DISORGANIZED!
HE IS A HORRIABLE TEACHER WHEN IT COMES TO MATH. HE DOESN'T EXPLAIN IT NOR DOES HE GIVE TUTORING.
HE IS VERY UNCLEAR IN HIS TEACHING METHODS STARTS ONE THING THEN GOES ON TO ANOTHER...HIS METHOD OF TEACHING IS VERY BAD FINITE MATH IS HARD ENOUGH BUT THE WAY HE TEACHES MAKES IT WORSE STAY AWAY FROM HIM!!!!!!
Teaches 'different', didn't like at first, but it grows on you, I would most likely take him again.
if you do the work, he makes it get easier, BUT if you get behind, he doesn't make much sense anymore
Makes math fun, makes jokes of the material often. If you get behind it may become confusing but he tries to help you the best to his ability. He was good enough for me and I took him two semesters because I liked him so much.

Not an easy class, but he makes it even worse. To many dry jokes and his teaching style is horrible. Somewhat entertaining, but his teaching is just BAD.
I enjoyed his class. His really a nice guy. I made a A in his class with effort and his teachings. I would take him again. I also found him funny and easy going.
The worst math instructor I've ever had. He made the simplest math problems seem difficult. He wasted time and effort by showing a million ways to do the SAME problem. He once forgot to come to our class, so we all wasted a trip to campus. Avoid him!
horrible teacher. didn't learn anything and he couldn't explain anything to save his life!!!
I actually understood algebra for the first time! He actually teaches the class. If you have trouble comprehending math, I recommend taking him.
cant understand what he was talking about... 40 people when class started only 7- 10 left by drop date
I used to think I liked math. Very unclear explanations, confuses simple topics with multiple irrelevant methods, and muddies simple proceedures with long explanations. Take another prof. If you must take him, get yourself a good tutor!
VERY CONFUSTING, UNCLEAR....NEVER ACTUALLY ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS BEING ASKED. STARTED WITH 30 PEOPLE ENDED WITH 5..SOME OF WHICH FAILED.
Pretty easy class but you must do the suggested problems or you will be behind. He makes math fun for being 8:30 in the morning. My three friends and me took the class together and only one of us dropped it. Not to bad I recommend!
Good course.
This guy is way to smart to be teaching here. If you have a knack for Trig, take it, but if you're slow to catch on, find another teacher.
He seems to be a nice person, but I don't think he's a great teacher. I find myself studying out of the book instead of listening to him... He really doens't answer questions well
This man should not be teaching this class. I started this semester enrolled but had to drop it. He teaches you methods that have absolutely nothing to do with what you're learning. He makes you feel like you're back in elementary school or something. Don't take unless you want a hard time.
very nice and talkative. he makes everything make sense, and keeps you awake in the morning. i recomend him for anyone who needs help fully explaining math and trying to get a laugh out of it at the same time.
class was hard, he is a very smart person and knows a lot about math. unfortunatly, that means you have to be able to keep up. I ended up with a c, barely, most of the class had dropped by the end of the semester. The good side of this is that he is very helpful and is willing to give you extra attention.
way to smart for you. at least that is how he teaches. so just stay away!
Excellent teacher. Very helpful. The class isn't easy but he is very thorough in explaining. Cares about students.
I don't really enjoy his class, I've always loved math, but the way he teaches it is not very clear, and often I am lost.
Do not take him. I had to drop this class because I had no clue what he was talking about. I've always loved math and been good at it, but in this class I was lost all the time. Do not take him and if you do, make sure you have your book..that's what you will be learning from.
Davidson teaches way too fast and doesn't give reviews for exams.
he is the best teacher at san jac if you like math. if you suck at math take easy teachers
This guy is good, he answers questions good and is helpful. no test reviews, takes roll, easy tests, hard final.
i feel this teacher didn't appreciate be asked questions when students were confused. he taught his own way and criticized the author of the math book. many students had to try and teach themselves from the book to understand what they were doing.
THIS TEACHER SUCKS!!!! DONT TAKE HIM HE IS SO BORING AND HE TEACHES HIS OWN WAY AND ITS HARD TO UNDERSTAND BECAUSE HE GOES SO FAST. I HAD TO DROP HIS CLASS. IN THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER THE CLASS WAS FULL BUT CLOSE TO THE END ONLY LIKE 20 PEOPLE LEFT. SO TAKE SOME ONE ELSE.
Mr. Davidson does teach fast, but he is a good teacher, and if you need after class help he doesn't seem to mind and will help you until you understand.
He went so fast. And he was all over the board. He is so confusing. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
I withdrew from him...Didn't understand him at all...He reminds me of the teacher from Farris Buellers Day Off!!! Bueller' Bueller'
this guy is out there. he teaches his own methods that are somethimes hard to understand. he interups you a thousand times with questions before you can finish reading a problem. rude and sarcastic sense of humor
he's nice, but not a good teacher at all! i didn't understand anything we were doing in there and i had to withdrawl. what he taught us in class was nothing like the tests. i would not reccomend him at all, especially if you have problems with math.
Shows too many ways to do one problems then it becomes confusing because for one problem you can get different answers but it can all be right.
he has weird teaching method and is very unorganized. I would not reccomend anyone to take him for this course.
not good in explaining. The test he gives are hard and it does not have problems from which he has explained.
he doesnot explain any thing in the class. his test are very hard. he is not a good teacher at all.
Mr. Davidson was very hard to understand. You would have to know how to understand him. He did know alot about math but i just didn't understand his teaching methods. I'm sure he is a good teacher but I had no motivation to come to his class because he was teaching straight out of the book and i figured i'd be less confused teaching myself.
He really wan.ts you to do enough work to learn the material. You will know more than you wanted too if you do it his way
his calculus 1 course was really tough, but he spent more than half the class time answering specific questions you had about specific problems rather than going on and on about the subject in general. always ready to stay after class and explain anything you were having a rough time with.
Took him for college algebra. i understand algebra really easily, but in his class, he made everything more confusing and incomprehensible than necessary. doesn't answer questions very well, either. do not take him for any class if you can take another professor!!
if you want to understand it, take this guy. If you want to get by without work, take anybody else
Algebra is obviously a difficult subject and Prof Davidson doesn't make it any easier. His teaching method is "unique" but not very helpful if you aren't strong in the subject. I would not advise taking his class unless it's a necessity and even then....
Very confusing class. It seems like he is used to teaching very high level math courses and is trying to bring his knowledge down to a college algebra level. I would not recommend him in anyway, except that he is very nice and funny, but not helpful at all.
Very confusing. No reviews for tests which makes you fail. DO NOT take him. Worried Im not going to make it to College Algebra because of this guy.
He is very helpful. The homework is optional, but you should definetly do it. It will help you for the tests. Doing your homework IS your review. If you choose not to do it then you don't have a review. He is always willing to help and answer any questions. He is very helpful, I recommend him.

Does not teach well.If you ask him to work out a problem from the section and another student asks a same question on the section he wont aswer it.
TERRIBLE TEACHER. do not take him if you want to pass,he tells you to ask questions but when you do doesnt answer clearly and makes you feel dumb for answering. I have never had problems in math before until now...DO NOT TAKE HIM
Took for two classes. Most students want to be given a grade. If that?s you, don?t bother. If you want to learn and understand and know math for University work this class if for you. Great teacher. You must do the homework, as this is called learning. If you study and do the homework you will pass and know and understand.
Man tough teacher!! Super tough but his techniques work. Just very hard material. He will try to trick you on the tests. Have to do the homework and when he says "anything to know today?" You better ask away!!! I had not taked a math class in 10 yrs so it was super hard for me but I managed to get a b+ cause i busted my butt studing!! Tough!!
I took him for College algebra and got a B. At the beginning of the semester there was 30+ people but by the end it was only 15 left. He makes you take 4 tests (and final) during the semester but he drops your lowest grade. Homework and textbook are not required.
Prof. Davidson Is a very knowledgeable Instructor with a peculiar sense of humor. If you like math I suggest him above all others. If you just want an easy A, Look else where. He is not for the typical student trying to get their math credit. HE IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR AT SAN JAC!! single most helpful and passionate about his subject.
MR. Davidson is not hard but he's not easy either..U HAVE to do the homework and ask questions when he gives u the opportunity at the beginning of class. He is sooooo HILARIOUS!! I really enjoyed his class on Thursday nights bc he always cracked me up!! :) By far my favorite teacher at Saj Jac!
Mr. Davidson is a great teacher. The material is hard and he sometimes confuses you, but will answer all questions you have. You are required to attend class in order to understand, but that's up to you. While teaching if lost, he will review it with you. He has a great sense of humor and is Funny. He made the class fun being that it was math.
Not a good teacher, i failed. Went to all the classes i stilled didnt pass. ''What you need to learn today,'' but i really didnt...
He wasn't a good professior. Do not take him, within the last few weeks almost half of the class droped his class. Don't waste your money taking this professior!! I love math and never had a problem with it until I met this professior!

I dont think he is a good teacher. the math is just random not hard but a bit confusing but he cannot teach it... confuses u more than it is; trys to rush the class; spends all class time on ONE problem, makes you look stupid before he even intents to answer questions; he dosent teach by formulas; no test reviews; test have more than what he covers
Yes this subject is difficult, but this professor will work with you if you have any trouble understanding. He asks at the begining of each class if you have any trouble with something and he will review it again. His tests are not that bad.
People like to blame the teacher when they fail, but the real reason is that they don't do the homework, don't ask questions or don't ask for help. I like Davidson and enjoy his teaching very much. He does go fast though, but he won't mind stopping to answer a question.
He's a really nice guy. Homework is easy. Tests were easy if you did the homework. First 20 questions of the test were take home. Didn't have to pay attention in class at all. If you listened in class it's confusing, but if you teach yourself it's super easy.
Don't get me wrong, it was a difficult class. Math is not my subject though! I agree, you have to teach yourself because he goes pretty fast. But he does ask if anyone has ?'s!! Go to class, ask questions, and do your homework! I think he's a good professor!!
He is a great teacher in my opinion. Very helpful and has a funny sense of humor. You will learn a lot from him. He isn't boring; I was very interested in this class.
not very good
Awesome teacher. I am not a math person but I got A's on all test. He gives one portion of the tests for you to take home for a few days and the other in class for a higher chance of a better grade. Bring the take home test to the math lab and have the tutors check your work- it's and automatic A. He does go fast but does not mind stopping to answe
Just don't take this professor. Even people that were good at math had trouble. You have to be extremely good to keep up with this guy.It was almost as if he were trying his hardest to see you fail.He doesn't answer questions posed to him and is not helpful at all.His exams are worse than his explainations.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!! HE DOES NOT EXPLAIN GOOD... HE CONFUSES YOU EVEN MORE... and he also ignores you whenever you ask a question.. he makes you feel stupid in front of the class!!!
Great guy, but a very difficult subject for me. He was very willing to answer any questions you had. All tests had a take home portion. Be sure to do homework or you will be lost.
hes really bad profesor. he dosnt teach well and will confuse the hell out of you. his test are really complicated because they are hard and he makes you answer them in a weird way were you have write them in a odd manner/postion, i dont how to explain it but its pretty stupid. he is really strick and is not afraid to FAIL anyone. dont take him
Good lad. Do your homework, listen very well in class, and make sure you ask questions cause he's always willing to answer and he actually likes it.
he's bad. his test are stupid, he checks for grammar so if you misspel a term he wont give you points. there were some tru an false questions and if you got it wrong not only would he not give you point for it, he would give you negative points. his quote not mine " i grade like that because its 50/50 to easy" he is nice but really dosnt care of u
By the end of the class I could take rderivatives ans integrate in my sleep. Awesome professor.
I would recommend him. If you need help, he will spend extra time before/after class to help. No homework, but if you do the problems in the book it helps you. Funny and laid back. I enjoyed going to his class.
Very helpful, takes time to explain. Has a sense of humor.
I am one of the few survivors left in the class presently. We started with ~18 students. Now we are down to ~8 or so. My grade is low. Davidson has the ability to make problems more complicated than meets the eye. I learn by myself, since he gives no support. He is unbelievably difficult, I have missed the drop date. I will no take him again.
Wow...do not take this guy Im warning you. Despite hearing nothing but bad stuff about him, I took him for Calc 3 since sledge wasnt teaching it. I aced cal 1 and cal 2 with 100s so i know i dont have a weakness in this stuff. He was he worst teacher ive EVER had. First D in my life. Take him and prepare to either drop or fail. Youve been warned
I took this professor because he was the only one that fit into my schedule. The other rating are completely correct. He is an awful teacher. He is very confusing. He uses his own made up way to solve, he says the book is incorrect... I went to the math lab to see if they could help me, the tutors had no idea what they were looking at.
To be fair, I took this class in a 5 week mini. I found the class increasingly difficult. There are no test reviews, homework is optional, no structured notes and no homework in my math lab. Prof Davidson pretty much relies on the chalkboard and class interaction. That being said, he is smart, caring, and will help you. Tough mini, good guy.
im an A and B student easy in math but he shouldnt be a teacher if you are a person that needs good notes in math dont take this class he skips steps in his notes and you dont know how to get through the problem i should hae known when it went from a class of 20 to a class of 6 in less then 2 weeks nursing students do not take
Mr. Davidson's class was the hardest math class I've attended. Took him with another math teacher and both of them were horrible at teaching! He is not clear at what he wants. he jumps around subjects. Do not take him! unless you are up for a challenge!
Professor Davidson, as a mathematician, is great. As a teacher, not too grade. Very confusing when it comes to lecture. Goes too fast. Skips steps. He's a good man but a very confusing teacher.
Class got harder throughout the semester. Was completely lost before the first exam. I realized it was simple material that he explained very badly. Made a high A on first exam. After that, learning new material from him was impossible. Must teach yourself. Asking questions is frightening. Wants to embarrass you. YOU WILL NEVER GET OUT EARLY.
Hard to follow along as he lectures, skips steps in the math problems and doesn't write everything down. Likes if you asks questions and is willing to help, if you ask for it. Tests-pretty difficult and include take home questions. Usually lectures longer than the scheduled class time, and doesn't start exams at the beginning of class, like most do
He likes to do things his way. Will never go based on the book, our class was way behind schedule so we didn't get to do half the sections on the book. Likes to talk a lot and will make you repeat things that according to him will stick in your mind. I recommend using the book a lot and tutorials at the library.
Love him. He's a sweet goofy guy with a great ability to explain things in an "out of the box"manner didn't assign a lot of homework, if you wanted to pass, you will do the work in the chapters on your own.
loved his lectures, didn't go off the book much, but tests were more catered to his lectures. Used his lectures in combination with the chapters videos on mymathlab to receive an a. Loved the take home tests, gave you an opportunity to figure out what you needed to work on. No bs professor. Love.
Professor Davidson uses different techniques in teaching to try to reach all students learning abilities. All grades and assignments were put up on Blackboard in a timely manor, if not promptly and Professor Davidson is always available for any questions or help you may need.
Must do your part as a student. He will not just give you a grade.
Old school teaching so teaches right out of the book. Will sometimes deviate away from book when he feels he can show the class a better or faster way of doing things. He will lecture and teach right on the chalkboards so do not skip class or you will be confused. Homework is optional but it helps a bunch. Extra credit available. Love the class.
He is really nice, helpful and has a good sense of humor. He always eager to help you to understand uncleared stuff. All you need is just asking him questions. Love the ways that he teaches although it is kinda old ones. He tries to put useful information into your brain by making you repeat it as many times as possible. Highly recommend him.
Davidson is a wonderful and funny man. Although he doesn't really give examples of how to do what we are learning. He doesn't go over everything that will be on the test. I've had to self teach myself and see tutors.
I do not recommend this professor.
This is a horrible instructor that needs to be removed from the classroom as soon as possible. He is a great mathematician, but is not suitable to effectively instruct students. I hope San Jacinto College takes action. I have taken many Professors throughout my college career. Absolute worse! Better of teaching yourself.
I wouldn't recommend taking his class in the five week summer session. He is helpful if you ask questions, but he does tend to get off topic sometimes. He mainly used the textbook. He also gives extra credit! It's not hard to fail, but if you do the work, study and do the extra credit, you'll do fine.
I took Davidson for Summer II. I ended up doing okay, but if you take this class during the summer, be prepared to cover a lot of material in a short amount of time as with any summer course. He shows you several different ways to do things so you can find one that works for you. If you get lost or need help, just ask him! He is brilliant!
Took him during spring semester. He is such a good professor. Has 4 test plus final. All test are 2 parts. 1 part in class and the other take home. Homework isn't required. Recommend to take if you are taking multiple classes and need a easy good grade. Wouldn't recommend if you don't like being taught on a chalk bored.
Don't take this professor. I had to get a tutor to teach me the material. He is extremely unprofessional. He doesn't teach you anything so expect to learn everything yourself.
Worst professor ever! Do not take! And if you take go to the Dean. I went to the Head of the Math Department and nothing got taken care of. Also, he keeps on deleting my post. Beware! If you read this do not take him. He likes to delete my negative posts to keep his "Rate Your Professor" rating high. Nothing, but blatant disregard here. Resign...
I took this professor because of my work schedule. This was my first college course ever. He does not help you, just hinders you. He draws his graphs and then erases smearing the chalk. To his dismay, he makes the math even more confusing by graphing another over the smeared chalk. When he is finished it looks like a disassembling ball of yarn.
I've taken classes with professors that were hard to comprehend, but this professor was the worst I've ever taken. Stay away from the professor, you will waste your time doing homework that doesn't even apply to his test.
Lectures are all over the place. Not very clear. Had to buy the book so I could teach myself the material.
This professor only lectures about theories of algebra and why they work or don't work. He does not give specific examples of how to solve problems. He hands out his own notes in class that you must memorize. All Learning of how to solve algebra problems must be done at home on your own time. He does not respond to emails in a timely manner.
He is a good professor if you treat this course with a professional attitude. He will write the correct procedure on the board and expect you to make the time to practise, which will give you a solid foundation that you can build on later. There are many handouts and he will expect you to review them. Make sure you show up, or you will fail.
He is an okay professor but he goes a little bit fast, dosen't teach a lot but gives you handouts and worksheets that explains the answer. On the bright side there is a take home test and a test in class. The take home test tells you what to study on topics. Beware, the take home test has different questions in different papers
Finite was super difficult for me. Professor Davidson isn't the easiest to follow if math isn't your thing. Don't afraid to ask questions (but you may be even more confused with his answer. My suggestion to you is if you struggle with math have an outside tutor because you'll need it
By far the worst professor I have ever taken. He does not explain the material well at all. He expects you to know the material as well as he does, even thought he has been doing it for over 40 years. His test are nothing close to what the lecture is about. I wouldnt wish this professor upon anyone. You basically have to teach yourself.
He really does know what he is talking about when he lectures but takes way too long to explain something. He also veers off during teaching and starts talking about other things that are completely irrelevant. Would not recommend.
His class can be confusing during the lectures, but he is a good professor that tries his best. Do all the homework and practice problems he provides in order to do well on your exams. There are 4 tests, both separated by a take-home portion and an in-class portion.
I took him my first semester of college (fall 2019). I also took him with another professor. If he lectures by himself he sucks. He goes off topic fast. Its really hard to understand his point when he is trying to show you a work problem. His exams are easy but he grades rough. All semester he only gave one extra credit, so keep that in mind.
I have always been a straight A student until talking this class. Hes way of teaching confused even the brightest from my class. Homework isnt important to the class as the grading comes from 5 tests total. My dean was very amazed when hearing I got a 75 on test 1 as others got Fs or literally negative grades. Do not take this class.
