Can be easy...u must take good notes and pay attention in class...over all good teacher and easy to understand...books not really neccessary if u take good notes
He was a great teacher. Kinda weird at first but he knows all these facts about other countries and relates everything back to something you are interesed in. His class was never boring. He gave reviews and his test were exactly what he covered in class. Unlike some teachers. Best teacher to take for PSC.
Dr. Galatas is awesome. He is by far the best prfessor i have ever had. TAKE HIM IF YOU EVER GET A CHANCE!!!
Doctor Galatas is really cool. He's understanding and lenient. Curves his tests, but you don't really need it. His lectures are really easy and you have discussions as well. I'm taking him again for 141 and can't wait. It's not an easy A, but you'll earn your grade and be proud of it. I got a C and was really okay with it. He's an awesome professor
He gave really structured lectures. His power points were easy to follow, and he gives study guides for the tests. He's very knowledgable about PoliSci. Take him. He's great.
Definitely go to class, and SI if possible. His tests are pretty hard. DO ALL THE HOMEWORKS. I made fairly good grades on the tests (B's) and didn't do 2 homework assignments and made a C in the class. He's a cool guy, though.
Excellent professor, always enthusiastic. He actively involved many students as examples each day, and cares to learn names. Uses Powerpoints, tests come from them. Works with Honors students Awards good attendance with Bonus points. I plan on taking his upperlevel classes.
Good prof, makes the class tolerable. Go to class, listen, take notes, and study the guide, you'll get a good grade. Don't really need the book, he talks about it being in sync with his notes, but it's not necessary. If he still taught 142, I would definitely take himm again, he loves his subject and makes is very relatable. Overall good prof.
great teacher!!! very helpful, makes sure you understand, uses real life situations to help clarify what he is teacher. test come from notes you take in class, so go and take good notes!! would take again, and plan too!
Dr. Galatas is one of the best teachers in the department. During lecture, he got people involved that weren't even Poli Sci majors. All he requires is that you think. That's it. The homework assignments are a grade booster, so do them. Tests have detailed reveiws well in advance of the test. Great Prof.
Im not a lover of political science but by the end of his class I had actually found an interest in it. He engages you in discussion, nothing to major but by doing so he is teaching his lecture material. Its not all about reciting information from the power point like most of the teachers do.The book used as reference but not really needed.
This was a GREAT professor...i hate political science, but he made it very enjoyable. would highly recommend him. attendance was important because tesrt come from notes taken in class.
Dr.Galatas is AMAZING. He tells jokes all the time, and is always making the class laugh. His test are 50 multiple choice questions, and he gives you a GREAT review couple of days before the test.I never made below an 88 on his tests. There are only 5 homework assignments and they take 5 mins. to do. I LOVED going to this class GALATAS FOR PRESIDENT

he is amazingly funny talented and hot! when I say hot let me emphasize the fact that he has a chili pepper! We don't just hand those bad boys out like candy! He's smokin....and pretty cool
TAKE HIM!! HE IS AWESOME!!! MAKES YOU WANT TO LEARN AND COME TO CLASS!!!
heaven must be missing an angel...
haha love the previous comments! so true. he's cute and such a great professor. be sure to take his class. you will learn so much and will laugh all the time.
haha love the previous comments! so true. he's cute and such a great professor. be sure to take his class. you will learn so much and will laugh all the time.
He's a good teacher as long as you participate. If you don't say something every class he will definitely bump you down no matter how good your grades are. So suck up to this one!
He's a wonderful teacher. i never really liked PSC until I got into his class. He cares to learn your name, engages you in discussion, and doesn't make you feel stupid if you say something wrong or ask a question. And professor....yes, you do still have your chili pepper! :)
really was enthusiastic about the subject. he made political science bearable for the people your arent exactly passionate about it (me)...he made the class enjoyable! tests werent very ahrd...just study a bit and keep up with the homework....which wasnt hard at all...
Great class and awesome enthusiasm!!!
Best teacher in the department, do the work make good grades, it is that simple, he will work hard for you if you work hard for him.
He is the best teacher in the department...end of story!!!
Clear fun energetic He is the greatest professors ive ever had in my 6 year college tenure
Best Proffesor in the Department.. you'd be a fool not to take from Galatas
he IS the best professor in the department. his upper levels are he best! he actually cares about his student's success. if you want a great semester, take galatas!
Dr. Galatas is awesome!!!! I never really liked political science but he made it really interesting. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN-i know his classes fill up pretty fast...his tests are easy as long as you go to class and go over the study guide. he really loves the subject and knows what hes talking about
Yeah, he's pretty much awesome...but make sure you go to class because even if you do all the work and readings, if you don't listen to lectures, you might be lost. I don't quite remember but I think his test reviews were helpful.
He was awesome! I took him for summerI and i loved his class.. we barely ever used the book he is very easy to understand! and his test = his notes.. He cracks jokes alot that arent tht funny to us but he is awesome!
go to his lectures take notes, thats whats on his tests most of the time i wouldnt even look at his reveiws and just know the notes real well and did very good on his tests. as far as him as a person very cool guy and VERY helpful. participate in class and go to class and you'll have an A
Love this class. You are sure to get an 'A' if you just show up to class and take notes.
This Professor is hilarious. He really knows how to keep you interested in political science and his tests are easy as long as you write down his notes and notes that you might think are necessary when he is talking. He loves to try to help you out as much as you can.
Dr. Galatas is very interesting and keeps students engaged. If you go to class and take good notes you shouldn't have a problem. He is very helpful and gives opportunity for extra credit. I'm not a psc major by a long shot, but Dr. Galatas makes it interesting and I never dread going to class. If you have the chance- take him.
I am an A student got C. Test are hard and 2 papers graded fair though. I never missedhe is helpful but not easy. He is ok. Nice bu test are hard. He engages all in class it was 130 in our class. Donotmissand read and take notes. Power points on line
Dr. Galatas is a great teacher. This class is really easy as well. I didn't even use the book and I made an A. All you have to do is go to class take notes and go to SI and you will make an easy A. He is a great guy.
EXTREMLEY easy prof. All I did was come to class and take notes and got an A. I didn't study for one test and literally got an 100. He's an easy grader on the homework too. 'Course I was a junior while taking this class so I may be a bit biased on the easiness factor. He is a good and interesting lecturer.
Generally fair but I found it hard to like or respect him. Extremely pedantic about grammar so delete the words "it" and "feel" from your vocabulary before writing any papers for him. He's stuck up and mocks his colleagues. One time he had another prof come in to guest lecture and then made fun of that prof's teaching style after they'd left.
Def. recommend, he is funny and teaches good. There are four exams and three hmwrk assignments.
I really enjoyed Dr. Galatas. He is a great teacher and really knows his stuff. He tells funny stories that help you remember what you learn. You can tell he enjoys teaching and wants you to enjoy learning. Definitely recommend him.
I'm terrible with history/govt/ anything related, yet I got an A in his class. He LOVES his subject & knows it well. Hes VERY helpful & enjoys office visits you need clarification on anything. He tends to drag his stories on but they're helpful. Lectures mainly verbal but pwrpts are used. Multiple choice tests & mostly off notes, but look over book
Galatas ROCKS. He knows the subject well and is always willing to help you. He loves what he does and it shows. His tests are always multiple choice and straight from his notes. If you can get into his class do it! He is worth it. Go to class and take good notes and you will have an A!
Awesome teacher. Holds attention during lectures. Seems strict at first, but is actually a sweetheart.
Cool guy who LOVES politics. He knows his stuff. Tests are fairly easy if you pay attention and study notes. Multiple choice. He gets off subject easily which bothered me. Overall awesome teacher, I would recommend
Galatas is an amazing teacher and knows the subject. Took him for 141 and 142. He's actually not hot lol He's older and married with kids. Don't know why there's a chili... But he explains everything clearly and is more than willing to help you. I loved his class.
Don't waste your time by buying the books. You don't need them. Tests are directly from the notes so go to class. Tests aren't super hard but you have to study. There will be homework but not too much. Overall he's a good teacher who cares
I really don't like Political Science, but he has a great enthusiasm for it. As long as you go to class and take notes you'll be fine. Tests are literally off of the notes. The reason I got the grade that I did is because I don't care for Poly Sci, and I didn't want to study for it.
Dr. Galatas is by far one of my favorite professors at SFA. He is more than happy to help you and loves for you to come to his office if you have any questions. If you show up and take good notes and actually study your notes, you'll ace the class. Although the test are multiple choice, the questions can be tricky so make sure you know your stuff.
Dr. Galatas is the best professor I have ever had! He is helpful to anyone who is in need and gives good feedback. He is very passionate about Political Science, which is obvious in his lectures, and gives interest to people taking PSC 141/142 classes. I have taken him every semester since 2013. I highly recommend him for every class he teaches!
TAKE HIM. He is the best professor I've had. He explains everything very well and gives examples/stories to go along with it. He gives 4 test, 50 questions multiple choice. very straight forward, little studying got me a B. He also has 2 federalist papers assignment where you answer questions based on what you read. very easy. SI is very helpful.
Tests come from the notes directly. So go to class, take good notes, study them well and you will be fine. Not an easy "A" but you can receive one if you put in effort and study a lot. He is very reasonable and is willing to help you so go to his office hours. The lectures are pretty long but he makes them semi interesting. Just pay attention.
Make sure you take notes! Everything comes directly off the notes. Therefore, it was a waste to purchase both the textbooks. Review the lecture notes and go to the SI for help with the essays. You will have a difficult time passing if you don't go to class. 4 exams, 2 essays, and the final is not cumulative
You don't need the textbooks! If you go to class, take notes, and do the review before the test, you'll pass easily.
You only have four exams, final exam is not comprehensive. Very clear lectures. He's funny (or tries to be) and is super caring to his students. Go to SI! You only have three homework assignments, two are writing assignments. Pay attention in class and you'll be fine
Dr. Galatas is a great professor! He does talk the whole class time, but he throws a few jokes in so it's not too bad. The exam reviews are very helpful, so study those and go to S.I. and you can absolutely pass with a good grade.
One of the best professors i've ever had. Do the test reviews and you'll get an A. Never liked Political Science be he made it really fun.
Dr. Galatas is one of the best professors I've ever had at SFASU. He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed in the class. The test reviews are key in passing his exams, they are very helpful. I would recommand him to anyone who needs to take psc 141 or 142.
Dr. Galatas has been one of the best professors I've had so far. He makes lectures interesting so the material is easy to learn. The study guide prepares you well for the tests and the SI is really helpful with papers and doing the study guide. He is well respected and is understanding if you go to him.
Overall, I really thought he was a good professor! I am not good at political science or really have an interest in it, and he made it so interesting! The tests are usually only from notes and lectures. I wouldn't waste the money on textbooks because I never used mine. Use his study hours he will help you out a lot! best poly sci teacher at sfa!
Dr. Galatas has made this course a pleasure to be a part of. He is by no means going to give you an easy A, but with that being said will encourage you to work for hard for it and EARN your grade. Out of any teacher or professor I have ever had Dr. Galatas has been the only person who has ever made me THINK, and for that he gets 5 star. 10/10!
Galatas is the best political science teacher I've taken here at SFA. Communicates with students in a way they will understand with positive energy. He loves the subject and I can appreciate that in a professor. The only political science teacher that actually goes in-depth with the content. Easy to pass & very inspirational You'll enjoy .
Galatas gives exams over: 99% lecture materials and 1% out of class reading (which he provides online copies of) text books are not required to make an A. Attendance is mandatory to receive exam materials and for final grade purposes. Wonderful lectures, and easy grading system. Would take again if available. Study and SI is a must to pass!
BEST Professor ever! You learn whether you want to or not. Great classes, a must for any PSC or non PSC major
He's a very good teacher and makes everything straight forward.
Great professor however, his test were super hard.
He cares a lot about his students but test are VERY hard. You will NEED to study in order to pass. Take good notes, and use the study guide
I took this over the Maymester, so it was a very intense course. He is helpful when you have questions, gives several examples, uses comic relief to break apart the stress of information overload in lectures. I waited a whole year so I could specifically take him for another course! His tests are based off the reviews; study them and you're golden.
He's a great professor. He cares for his students' success and helps you find your type of studying when you don't know or when the technique you are using is not working. He believes in you and gives feedback on what you can do to pass his class. Would recommend 100%.
If you like politics and how everything works in Europe, you need to take his class of the European Union. He is extremely good at what he does, and he made me love politics outside of the US and why I want to go into International law. Moreover, he is really easy going and very understanding and his lectures are phenomenal.
I am awful with history but with Galatas I finally felt like I knew what I was doing. As long as you study the heck out of his study guides you will ace every exam. I would warn that the guides are huge but at least the tests are easy! You could probably find a Quizlet for each of the tests. He is super nice and I found him really entertaining!
On the first day of class, Dr. Galatas told us that he does not pick a side when it comes to teaching his students. At first, I thought that he was just saying that, but to this day I still can't pin down his political ideology. He is very non-partisan and will give you the brutal truth. As far as the work goes, just study and you'll pass.
Dr. Galatas is passionate about what he teaches and has no problem keeping the class engaged. He will make you laugh. Exams are pretty much word for word what he says in lecture. If you pay attention in class and review your notes regularly you will be fine. Attendance is mandatory with a sign in sheet each class. I highly recommend!
First off, you don't need the textbook, no matter how many times they tell you that you do! You must go to class to pass, take good notes and the tests are a breeze! They match up perfectly with the study guide. His lectures are also engaging, and all the information came naturally and seemed like common sense. 4 tests and 2 assignments. Recommend!
Dr. Galatas is very kind and a great teacher. He is fair, and does well at remaining unbiased. As long as you take notes on the lectures, you will be fine on the tests. However, he does require a textbook. DO NOT get it. I spent about $50 and didnt use it once. Everything you need is in the lectures.
I really enjoyed Dr. Galatas. There was 1 homework assignment, 1 written paper (having the textbook is nice for this), and 4 exams. All the exams were word for word with his lectures. He does a great job at remaining unbiased and he obviously knows Texas government very well.
I loved Dr Galatas. Had him for Texas Government, which is a required course, but you will definitely learn in this course. Lectures go over everything that is on the test and if you take notes and study your notes, you will do better than passing. Really charismatic and actually cares about the course and his students.
When I first decided to take Texas Government this term I was very nervous about taking it due to my experience with my teacher for 2305. With Dr.Galatas it was a huge difference. He makes the content so easy to understand and the stories he tells are very funny and helpful with getting his point across. He really wants to talk to his students.
Dr. Galatas is a great professor! I honestly could not care less about government but his lectures are easy to follow. There are only a few grades so make sure to try your best on them. GO TO THE SI MEETINGS (if they are offered) and study!!
He is a really good professor. The class is really easy if you take notes on his lectures as his tests are based off the lectures. There are 4 tests and a final that is not cumulative and one paper. He makes the subject really interesting and he is really passionate about the subject
Excellent professor I usually do not do reviews but for him, I will. He is very unbiased and will tell you at the beginning of the semester that you will not know his standpoint. He is very caring and you can tell that he wants his students to pass and do well in class.
Dr. Galatas is a wonderful professor, who teaches amazing. Tests can be hard if you do not study. So, go to SI and make flashcards. He has a textbook, but you will be fine without it. The homework assignment and writing assignment is not that hard at all. He makes government interesting. He writes his own tests, and his tests are also in person.
At some points in his story times he may go on a tangent for about 5 min. but other than that one of the best teachers who presents himself 100% Politically ambiguous and not pushing an idea into the students when teaching. Amazing teacher to the stars!!! Be aware that most things he say in lecture will need to be written down.
Will probably threaten to fail your entire class but youll be fine. Make sure to show up to class in order to get all the notes as he doesn't post all of them. He has easy assignments that can boost your grade and the exams aren't too bad. They're 50 questions and all multiple choice. The test reviews seem lengthy, but there worth doing,
Prof Galatas is very passionate about political science; he would tell personal stories that correlated to his teachings and would also crack dad jokes all the time. He wrote the required textbook, it is very wordy, but he gives a very detailed study guide for all the exams.
Dr. Galatas is awesome. I was dreading taking TX Gov, but he made it such a breeze. He is very kind, and I found his lectures to be very interesting. He is very passionate and intelligent as well- but he will also make a lot of jokes :) The study guides are lengthy but so helpful. No complaints.
Be Aware: IS left leaning many Students just dont realize cuz THEY R ill informed, i.e.; talks up formerTx Lib Gov. Ann Richards. Talks down TX's Att.Gen. Ken Paxton- SO obvious he alt-progressive. When paper is due, pick neutral subject unless youR liberal, otherwise.. just be aware. Requires HIS book $!$ surprise!, but it's not necessary.
