VERY thorough, youll learn alot, tests a bit tough, but not hard to pass class
One of the best teachers ever! He will give you all the tools that you need to master the area, and he will ask results back. The catch is that you will know how to solve it. When I took it, he had online quizes, and that was great grade booster.
while his class is extremely easy, the man cannot teach! he is not willing to give you the right answer, but instead, you must ask your 'group' for their thoughts! most people are forced to seek tutoring, and he treats his students like highschoolers...
He does not do much teaching. Alot of people failed this class (SummerA) but, his computer enhanced class was nice because quizzes were given online and you could take them over and over again until you got a 100%.
If you are not good in math, DO NOT TAKE HIM. The only way you will pass his class if you either have a tutor or know someone in the class to help you. The only thing good is that you have online quizzes and homework that you can take as many timesneeded
First of all he tell you this will be on test and then its not. For the final, he told us to study all tests and nothing was on it. He will test you on things you never seen before. If you aren't a A student in math, you will fail this class.
Not easy...wouldn't recommend.
teaches cal 2
i do not recommend that guy.
Took this online in spring of 04, and I was drowning from the beginning. The math before this I got an A, I got a D from him, and now during my retake I have an A. Unless math is easy for you, don't take him online!!!!!!!!
calculus 2. very tough teacher, but he does a good job with teaching you the subject.
He makes excercises look easy in class, but when you're faced with the task yourself, it becomes just short of impossible. During the summer, the online quizzes are too close to one another. He won't give answers unless the group can't solve the problem.
He is more into the concepts behind math rather then mindlessly following steps. I took this online and he lets you take quizes and practices until you get 100%. You have do alot of work for his online class, but I learned a lot, though it wasn't fun.
Great teacher. Explains everything in class and helpful with all questions. Very smart so only problem is trying to keep up. Take good notes in class and review after class and everything makes sense. I got a 98 so his class is definitely passable.
At first I thought I would never make it through the class but after the first little bit I realized how helpful Professor G was and he will do whatever you need him to to help you understand. He is always willing to help you out. Great teacher!!
The online class is really hard for me, but professor G helped me a whole lot.
its not just the fact that his teaching is unclear, or that he spends the entire class period explaining one problem, but more the fact that not only do you have homework, you also have quizzes and test due online everyday. If you arent willing to do alot of work outside of class, you will fail.
He has such a big heart I cant believe that anyone would say that he wasnt a good teacher He does everything he can to help He is not always clear at first because he doesnt use many ways of explaing one concept but he tries so hard to help I planned my schedule around his alg. class. Take him!
He's such a great teacher! Any problems you have, he offers so many ways to learn and get help, from the online tutorials to coming by his office. Loved the fact that I could take the quizzes as many times as I wanted!
That was the worst class ever. He is SO unclear and you take everything offline. Also he spends like 45 minutes answering one question and if you already know how to do it you notice that he picks the longest most difficult way of explaining it. My advice is don't take him.
VERY unrealistic with his tests. Not clear and unhelpful in understanding the student. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!
If you don't like keeping up with online quizzes DO NOT take this guy. Otherwise the class if fine, show up though because he does take attendence and gives a fair amount of bonus points throughout the semester.

Hes teacher that knows what he is doing, and explain anything if you have a problem. He will also take outoffice hours to help you.It will be easy if you listen and do the online test. They only help your grade cause you can retake them as much as you want. You shouldnt go into a class thinking its easy
Math is a very hard subject to me and I learned a lot in his class. Although there were lots of tests and HW to turn in online, the HW was extra credit which ended up helping in the end. I ended up with a b+ and I would take him again. He's fair and nice. Be prepared to work for your grade.
He has helped me out a lot. I have a difficult time understanding math and he was extremely helpful. Great person. I definately recommend his online class. Just keep up with the assingments.
I hated this class. There were a lot of online quizzes. The tests were based on the quizzes so that helped. He didn't explain things clearly. I do not recommend taking this teacher.
HE'S HELPFUL AT TIMES BUT NEEDS TO IMPROVE ON TEACHING THE CHAPTER MORE THEN JUST ASKING US WHAT WE DIDNT UNDERSTAND! BUT OVERALL HES A GOOD TEACHER!
Mr. Grosteffon is an excellent teacher. He is very tough though, and you have to work hard for an "A". If you want to learn about Algebra, this is the class.
if you ever watch mtv's show daria, this man looks and talks exactly like the sensitive psychology professor at her highschool. besides that his tests arent like the homework and he uses that webct alot... which always messes up.
It is a gift to be a teacher and this individual doesn't have it! I always loved and understood algebra, but this guy makes it so complicated that I am confused even with everything I knew before.DO NOT TAKE him!!!
Extremely easy class. BE WARNED: he can be boring and most of the time is BUT he is understanding and easy to talk to.
I was always bad at math, but I've taken harder math classes in middle school--however, over half the class dropped. Mr. G tried so hard to encourage people to ask questions or to do the extremely easy online assignments or even just come to the once-a-week class. Seriously, if you can't pull a C in this class, maybe college just isn't for you.
He is a great teacher, very helpful. He isn't going to give you a free ride through so you will have to work for your grade, but he is fare. Great class...
I highly recommend this professor. I took this class online. there was online step by step videos & tutorials. the homework assignments were set up so that you could take them repeatly until you passed. All tests used homework problems (slightly changed). this professor is always availiable for help. he also gives extra credit.
Easy going. Very nice. Online class consists of one homework-one activity then a 5 question quiz for each section..very easy if you keep up--very easy to keep up-- but if you fall behind its going to be hard to catch up but can be done!
Some of the assignments weren't covered in his online videos. Other than that, he was extremely helpful and responds quickly. There is a review with answers for the final.
Prof. Grosteffon is very laid back and willing to go the extra mile to help out if needed. Just keep up with the work and its not too bad. I took his online class and highly reccomend it.
I took this class online. This was my 3rd attempt and 12 years after my last. He was very helpful and clear. He gives plenty of opportunity to get an A in the class. I hope all my professors are like this.
HORRIBLE! He wants you to show up for class but he doesn't teach. He wants you to go online everyday besides Sunday, and watch a video, do homework and quizzes online. all that matters is the answers. his test require work shown. he's nice and brilliant but limited in explaining abilities. I was frustrated and miserable all semester. DON'T DO IT!
He is a nice guy but honestly I DREADED going to his class. I had it at 8AM which was bad enough but on top of that he would always start early and he would not let you leave class until you finished a *get outa class problem* i studied ALOT for this class and managed to pull out a B+. He is hard to talk to cuz he makes you feel dumb in class:-(
I took this class online. Everything was suppose to be online but I had to come in and take my tests and final. He gives a lot of work. You have homework, class discussion, and activities to do for almost each section.
Im taking this class online and its pretty easy just ALOT of work. One week we had an assignment due every day. I got A's on all the homeworks but they would take 2-3 hours to do. The tests are hard and sometimes do not make sense. Only take him if you dont have alot of classes, you need to make time to study for this class or you will do horrible.
I took his online Trig class. Let me first start by recommending you never take an online math class UNLESS you already know the material. Grosteffon is a nice guy and will help you if you come visit him, but the "teaching" in the online class is basically just telling us to read the textbook and teach ourselves, which is not helpful at all.
He is no help at all, do yourself a favor. You would be better off with a cow talking to you, he is rude, and over all not a very nice person to know, dont waste your time on him
He's nice. There is a lot of homework, but he's helpful. Don't buy the book. You won't use it.
Mr. Grosteffon is a really nice professor. I found his class to be very easy; however, it is a lot of work. You definitely have to stay on top of the online work to succeed in the class. His onsite test seem a lot different than the test on mymathlab so whatever example problems he tells you to work before the test, WORK THEM! good class :)
My only advice is to take any other professor if you can. He lectures on in class, but never really teaches anything. I had to do all of my learning from the book/online homework. On top of this, he is just disrespectful to his students, he treats us like we're still in high school. He wouldn't even let me read a book in the back of the classroom.
Overall very helpful and understanding. Enjoyed his kind personality and never felt nervous to chime into the discussion.
Over all a very informative class. Very understanding and helpful professor.
If your looking for an easy A, this is not the class for you. You have to work for your A. You use My Math Lab a lot but you have a lot of extra credit opportunities online which is very helpful. I didn't use the book so no need to buy it. He is a very nice guy and you will learn a lot.
Wonderful professor! He walks through everything with you, and doesn't hesitate to answer the slightest question. I'm terrible at math and couldn't wait to get out of this prep course, but he made it understandable and you can tell that he wanted you to pass. He's awesome, a wonderful professor!
Nice guy but a bad teacher. He doesn't make any connection with the class just keeps going on with his lecture even after people start falling asleep. I went all semester and still didn't get what he was talking abt I had to have my gf teach me. If you're not good at math or not good at teaching yourself, don't take this class.
If you're looking for an easy 'A' this not the teacher you should take. Everything is on MyMathLab(which is very helpful)The class is A LOT of work. So don't take any other classes that require you to do much. He lectures from Powerpt. ugh! We rarely use the book. He's nice, understandable, and helpful if you need it. I hate math, but I got a 'C'
Would teach nothing in class and then would expect you to do tons of homework. By far the worst math teacher I have ever had!!
Great Teacher. We were a Hybrid Class, all HW, quizes and Reviews in MyMathLab and Test at School. Test were straight from his notes, he does give HARD Word Problems but allows you to Retake tests provided you do all assigned HW and Reviews! Very Easy going and helpful.
He is really nice.
All the homework was online, so it was really easy to keep your grade up. You can take quizzes up to 10 times to get a better grade, so it was a super easy class.
Steve Grosteffon is the best math teacher I've ever had. Super nice guy. If you aren't good at math but are willing to keep trying until you get it right, he is the professor for you. Get 80+ on homework and reviews & he'll give you unlimited attempts on quizzes and MathLab tests. Paper midterm & final; out-of-town OK.(MGF 1106 Online Course)
DO NOT take this teacher if youre taking other classes. You will only have time for his class. In the first week of class, a math portfolio, math group project(for an ONLINE class), homework, quizzes, activity, discussion, and multiple podcasts and videos were assigned and due. WAY TOO MUCH WORK. He also isnt clear on answers. Doesnt really teach.
I took College Algebra with him online. There is a MASSIVE amount of work to do but he does allow multiple attempts on quizzes and tests if you make an 80%(which is super easy) on the corresponding homework. I never really went to him for help in person but he always responded quickly to my e-mails.
Not exactly bad but not a fan of him either. I'd suggest you go elsewhere if possible, but I've had worse.
Avoid taking this online. you will be plagued by endless busy work and group work. (Long assignments using Google documents). Worthless for office hours. Class difficulty is compensated by the ability to to retake everything except midterm and final exam as much as you want till you have a good grade.
He is a GREAT teacher, very understanding. His quizzes and test should all be Aced because the you have 3 chances to take the quiz. The final has a practice final that is almost exactly like it and all of the study plans can be taken numerous times until you get a 100. Show effort and follow his rubric.
This was a very difficult class for me. I struggled throughout the whole semester. It was my first semester back to school in four years. I was very happy to have had Mr. Grosteffon for an instructor. He was always willing to help and always made time for his students. He is a very fair instructor! Highly recommended!
Professor Grosteffon was awesome! I struggled through the class mainly because I didn't keep up with the Study Plan in My Math Lab. The discussion posts are straight forward and simple, for the most part. All answers to the discussion posts are straight from the textbook. When I fell behind or even did poorly he was there to offer help/ extensions.
Professor was rude, short, and difficult to work with. Not very helpful with explanations nor encouraging when student needs additional assistance.
He is probably the best math professor or teacher I have ever had. The online class is pretty challenging because he really does have tons of assignments. There was 2 due just about every single day, but he has a great attitude and is always willing to help. This was the first time I could ever believe in myself to do algebra.
WAY too much work, if this is the only class you are taking then maybe it would be good for you. I think Professor Grosteffon would be easier to take in class. If you work full time, this class is almost impossible with any other class load. Sorry to rate so low, just feel that a warning to others is appropriate.
I'll admit, the class wasn't hard; however, there is a lot of work in this class. There is at least one thing due everyday (it may be a small quiz of 6 questions or the section post). I'm not a good student in math, but I found this class okay. His syllabus is specific and you will always know when something is due.
Expect several assignments almost everyday, if you're already extremely busy I would not recommend this class. If you're not that busy I HIGHLY recommend this class. Lots of extra credit, can work ahead, lots of assignments to ensure you understand the subject, very quick to respond to emails, and very helpful. Helped a struggling math student.
Time-consuming but helpful lessons where you will definitely learn something, if not refresh your memory. His presentations are clear and easy to understand and he creates them to be entertaining. He responds to email quickly and was very kind. Assignments done on time get you 10 extra points. A good, kinda fun class if you aren't crazy about math.
Really awesome professor, will help you through anything and explain in detail. Always answers emails etc. Almost impossible to fail this class, however there is A LOT of homework to keep up that grade. If you finish all homework assignments, hats off to you. Don't take if you already have a heavy schedule, but pretty easy material.
Professor Grosteffon does give a lot of work, but it's small assignments for each section of work. He really stays on top of things, sending email reminders and updates of grade changes. He's very understanding and helpful. I was worried about taking an online math, but I would take another class with him if I needed to.
If you can take someone else, DO IT!!! This professor gives an overwhelming amount of homework- you literally have to dedicate your entire time every day to pass this class when in the end, only your grade on the final determines your overall grade! He's also very condescending in emails. This was by far the worst math class I've ever taken.
I took this online and it was so hard because I was pretty much teaching myself. But my professor did help when I had a question. The midterm and final are proctored and you cannot use a calculator.
You have to do 20 mini quizes with 5 questions each and get an 80% or higher to get to the actual exam. if you don't get 80% you have to redo the quiz practice to just get the mini quiz unlocked again to take the things. If you value your sanity DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
I took his class online and while it is a lot of homework there aren't really any "real" due dates. Meaning you can still turn in assignments after the due date with no penalty, so the amount of work really isn't a problem. Definitely one of the most understanding professors I've ever had. Plus the work is so easy! Take this class if you can!!
I am finishing up MGF1106 online and cannot recommend Prof G enough. I am TERRIBLE at math and expect to finish up with a B. There is a lot of work in this course, but watch the lectures and stay on track and you'll be fine! There are plenty of opportunities for "points" and he is flexible on due dates! Highly recommend!
Professor Grosteffon is awesome! Heavy work load, but if you have time to dedicate towards the course you'll be fine. I'm a mom, I work 8-4 and take two classes and I barely got it done. But he was always most helpful with my progress, and encouraged me to stay enrolled. I had many sleepless nights, and tons of frustration. It was all worth it.
I've never been great at math but this is the kind of math you can actually apply to your life. I feel like I've gained a lot of knowledge through this class. It's no Easy A, and I know I could've worked harder, but Professor Grosteffon is always there to help. Make sure to keep up in this class, it is easy to fall behind. Overall great class!
Professor Grosteffon is amazing. This was my first time taking a math class in 12 years but he made it so easy for me. He was always accessible and went out of his way to help me but it was a joy to have him! Definitely a great professor. He makes it practically impossible to fail his course. Great professor and a great person.
Professor G is a good teacher just remember to stay on top of your home work and make sure that you make good grades on everything. if you are taking his class online download canvas to your phone it will help you stay on top of your assignments.
Professor Grosteffon is awesome! Abundant amount of time to complete assignments, and very generous on tests (able to retake them over & over until the due date). Will encourage you to keep going, and responds to messages very fast when you need help. My math lab at Santa Fe is open as well for help, and of course his office hours. TAKE HIS CLASS!!
All I can say is that if you pace yourself and make a schedule on what needs to be done and what time, you will be fine. What I would suggest if you are stuck is call the teacher or meet him in person during his office hours. He responded in a timely manner and is very understanding. I suggest not abusing his kindness. :)
This class is mainly based on midterm, and final exam. If you don't pass both with at least 60%, then you will FAIL the class.
If you can take anyone else, I suggest you do so. The Syllabus conflicts with the weight of the grade. The final determines your end grade. He gives multiple attempts on the tests however they are timed and not enough time to even finish them. He knows just what to say to get around EVERYTHING! The HEAVY workload prevented me from studying.
Mr. Grosteffon was a really nice professor that answered all your questions really fast, I had to relearn the material since I haven't done it in a while, I wish this class wasn't such a work overload but I know it's for the best. The material is not hard and you can't use calculators on the exams and midterms. all chapter tests are done at home.
I am not much of a math person. He made this math class pretty fun to be in, just be prepared for a lot of quizzes and work but in the end the work he gives you really does help you succeed on the test.
I took Prof. G online and ti was great. if I had tried even a little bit harder I could've gotten an a. Hes flexible, communicative and so hands on sometimes if forgot it was online.
Mr. Grosteffon is literally the best teacher I have ever had. I am terrible at math, and taking it online is extra scary but from day 1 he made it clear that he was there to help. Any question, hell answer so quick, and he sends messages just checking and asking how were doing, if we need anything. Just a good guy, cant recommend enough!
I really liked math, but sadly I don't anymore after taking this class. There was way too much work. Assignments were often assigned/due on weekends. The lessons were youtube videos. This class was a waste of my time and money and I would not recommend it at all. The quizzes don't even tell you the answers to what you missed, so it's hard to learn
Had to take calc 1 and I went with Prof. Grosteffon, he was great. At first, I didn't expect much because it was an online class but I was happy. Interactive lessons posted in each module for credit, discussions, quizzes and 7 or 8 labs periodically, tests good if study, will help if needed, several attempts on quizzes and 3 on tests. Recommed him.
I'm really bad at math but with Prof Grosteffan it felt like a breeze. He divides work into sections, you'll have to do between 4-7 hw on MyMathLab in order to unlock the quizzes which are just the hw problems. Then complete 2-3 sections on Canvas, a group project, a test for every section & then a final. I failed my final but ended up with a B+
Great professor overall, yes lots of homework but keeping up with it youll do fine. Gives tokens out to help finish things and test. Gives everything to help pass with C if you do what ask of class, I failing a mid term and final and still pass with C. Also very responsive , and grading is very clear worth taken if you struggle with math offers hel
This was the worst class I have taken. I passed College Algebra online in a short course with a higher grade than this class. Even though the grade I earned on my work should have reflected a B, because of the crazy way he calculates grade I received a C. The work load is crazy! You have to do a project for a math class. Trust me DONT DO IT!!!
So I'm an A-plus math student and I have taken college algebra and pre-calc trig online and had no issues. But this guy is like no other. You have at least 3 lectures a week that take an hour each and then you have a quiz and a discussion post for each lecture due that week. He grades sooo hard and you spend hours on a lab to get a 50. Runnnnnnnn
This guy made me respect math. I have a challenge of anxiety when it comes to the subject. Furthermore, I really love how this guy is organized. He doesnt shove it at you and leave you in the dark like some of the ones Ive worked with in the past. I definitely would take another one of his classes if I have to take another math class.
If you like teaching yourself, take this course. If you like having to constantly redo the homework/quizzes, take this course. There are no lectures, just YouTube video links of someone else teaching. The lessons make sense, until you do the homework. It is extremely time consuming and frustrating.
If I could rate him lower than 1 I would, I took Calculus over the summer online with him, I have taken other math classes online and done perfectly fine. This guy does not understand how online teaching works, he has combined random youtube videos together to create lessons instead of text books, I never feel like i understand whats going on
He is very understanding when you have life get in the way of some projects or have to study for a different class. He is quick to reach out and reply. His lessons are well put together and instruction is clear.
A teacher who gives clear instruction and gives you the material to do it and do it well. A matter of whether or not you want to pass or pass with a good and obtainable grade. The workload is fast pace but nothing out of reach. He is also very willing to help and meet via zoom. Overall, a class that is clearly laid out and well taught.
Grading criteria is very unusual, first class that I had with this type of grading.
This professor is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He took the time to work with my schedule and gave me chances to make up the work that I had missed.
If you put in the work and make a genuine attempt at learning the matter you will pass this course. Professor Grosteffon is extremely understanding and more than able to help you with any questions on the material you may have.
The Calc 1 class is pretty much do at your own pace type of class, there are multiple assignments a week, but all are pretty much the same format, lesson -> discussion -> quiz. The teacher is very accepting of late work, and the class itself isn't too difficult!
His class was super easy, just do your work and try your hardest.
I put that he has lots of homework only bc there's a ton of online modules to get through. You need to do a lot of them to get points but they are not hard and you have unlimited attempts. From my experience he is very caring and passionate about what he teaches. I was recommended to take his course by a friend, and now I would recommend him myself
You will find this class easy if you finish all of the homework. The homework also helped as a study guide for the exams since you get as many tries as you want. Mr. Grosteffon always responds when you have any questions about the course. I hope to have another class with him next semester!
Professor Grosteffon has to be my favorite professor at Santa Fe. I am absolutely intimidated by math. The way his lectures are laid out for us is amazing. If you Try you WILL pass. His Homework, Quizes and Practice test are the reason you will succeed in this class. He is always willing to help. Well done Professor and Thank you! TAKE HIM
Professor Grosteffon is amazing! The class has homework usually due every other day, but nothing is considered late except the Labs/tests/exams. But you want to do things on time to stay on track and to learn efficiently. Grosteffon can be easily reached- during office hours- and is prompt in helping you with understanding and patience. A+++
I had big health issues while in his class (wisdom teeth removed, got sick, got my gallbladder removed) and Prof G went out of his way to do everything he could to help me pass. He reached out to me after the semester ended to let me know I had 3 missing tests, AND he let me make them up. He is literally the most caring professor at Santa Fe.
He gives a good amount of extra credit. But has no tact when speaking to people
I took his hybrid class this semester and I like him. Labs were on Tuesdays, in person and he was quite informational and willing to help during the labs, seems like he wants to help you succeed. The only thing I wish is that there were more instructor videos rather than youtube lessons from others. I had about 1.5-2.5 hours of homework on MWF.
Overall he's pretty good I liked how the in person days for his hybrid days where the lab, but I will say make sure you stay ahead. Its really easy to fall behind if you don't. He requires you to make a 80 on all the online quizzes to get any grade higher then a D. how ever you get three tries and he give you three more if you go to office hours
Nice guy, very easy to get a good grade if you stay on top of your work.
This professor is awesome. He's accessible outside of class, and will not hesitate to help any student. My experience with his hybrid class was poor, and there was little to no flexibility with deadlines, and assignments. If you fell behind, you were stuck until 3/4 way through the semester where this was changed.
Make sure to watch lecture videos in order to be prepared for labs. Stay on top of your classwork or else the assailments will pile up and become very stressful to deal with. Make sure to get an 80 or above on all the quizzes and review the quizzes because they are extremally helpful.
Great teacher.
Grosteffon is a great professor, he really does explain the material well. But (& this is prbly bc of the curriculum given to him) be prepared to do assignments all the way up to the last weekend b4 finals. We were still learning new material & taking a quiz on it, the week of exam 3, even tho it wasnt on exam 3, with 4 days shy of the final exam.
Good lectures, a lot of homework, a quiz everyday in class. A ton of extra credit for a math class. He uses free online textbook. Chill enough guy but I would rather chew and shallow bullet proof glass then eat taco bell instead of having him grade my math. Super hard grader, but if your work is clear you should be fine.
This professor has no interest in how assignments affect your grade. He will give no time to complete in-class activities, then proceed to grade the assignment very harshly. It makes no sense to be picky about something that students are not performing their best on. DO NOT TAKE HIM! YOU WILL WORK TRIPLE FOR A GRADE THAT WILL NOT REFECT IT!!!
I took Grosteffon for Calc 1 & 2, he is a caring and descriptive professor, and his schedule is great (hybrid course). He has great office hours and cares about his students' lives. Activities are mini-quizzes done in groups, tests are done in the proctoring center in a 2-day period, and lessons are online. Expect a lot of reading/self-practice.
IF YOU WANT A ROBOT FOR A TEACHER THIS IS YOUR CHANCE. HE WILL NOT GIVE THE TIME TO DO THE ASSIGNMENTS BUT HE WILL TAKE POINTS OFF FOR NOT DOING IT ON TIME AND NOT DOING IT PERFECTLY.
After being in the Dean's list for multiple consecutive years, this sociopathic professor is forcing me to withdraw from the class. There are hundreds of videos that we need to watch and assignments due before Sept 13, which is nowhere near enough time to complete. ** BE AWARE ** HE IS WRITING THOSE GOOD REVIEWS!
This professor is so disorganized. The exams are base on topics that we briefly talked about. This professor is not there to teach, he is there to antagonize the student. Good luck if you take his class.
DO NOT TAKE FOR MAC2311. The grading is exceptionally subjective, without true instruction on how to improve. If not for test retakes, this would have undoubtedly been a 1-star review. While he is a nice person who appears to have students' best interests at heart, this does not mean that you will learn any of the material.
assigns about 100 khan academy assignments bi weekly on top of 3 hours of lectures weekly. Gives a quiz every class with minimum time to complete it. Deducts random points from tests(Highest grade one test one including the retake was an 89 with helpful feedback) other than the retakes for test no extra credit. wouldn't wish this class on my enemy
He is a robot. If you like doing all of your work outside of the classroom and not having to listen to lectures to learn, take this class. If you can only learn by lectures, find someone else. He is the hardest and most confusing grader I have ever had. He's not the worst professor ever but definitely not the best when it comes to actual teaching.
He grades on a 50-100 scale so it's almost impossible to fail unless you don't try at all. That said, he's a tough grader and several times did not give me credit for questions I answered correctly because he didn't like my work. By the end of the semester, you catch on to his grading, and the inability to ever score below a 50% is a blessing.
Dude's pretty chill and lets you retake exams, which is a lifesaver. Grading's stricter compared to high school, but it's not impossible to get a 90+ on his tests if you study. He's a chill dude, and the tests aren't that hard since they're just recycled Khan Academy questions with the same wording. Overall if your good at math this class is easy.
Prof G is a great guy, very helpful. If you stay on top of the work, it's an easy A. I found Unstuck ai super useful for practice and extra prep.
Professor Grosteffon is a phenomenal professor. He is very accessible outside of class and very kind! There are three tests and a final which will amount to a significant chunk of your final grade. Ask questions and make sure you understand the material before the tests, and you should be fine!
First, Grosteffon is a fantastic professor. I took both I/II with him, and his expectations were clear. He uses two websites for homework, Khan Academy and SoftChalk. Tests are 50% of the grade and graded harshly, BUT he offers retakes on unit tests. Being hybrid is perfect for the schedule. One of the most fair and enjoyable classes I've taken.
Professor Grosteffon is a good teacher with plenty of office hours. While the homework/Khan Academy assignments may take a while to do, you only meet once a week so you have time to do them. Every test except the final can be retaken once, and the tests do not account for a part of your grade as big as other classes (~65%).
Prof. Grosteffon was a wonderful, caring teacher. As long as you practice, an A is assured. When I took his class, we were given the opportunity to retake each exam, and the exams were based exactly on the homework (only the numbers changed). Moreover, the weekly lab was great for asking questions. Lastly, he kindly accommodated my health problems.
Test heavy class. Not awful, but not excellent either. Overall, he was a bit harsh with grading, but would explain why he grades things the way he does. If you want an easy grade this is not the class. Kind guy, but there is no extra credit opportunities not even an EC problem on the tests. Gives useful practice tests that align with his exams.
If you're taking Calc 1 with Grosteffon, get ready to teach yourself everything. He also doesn't grade assignments until the last minute, but he is pretty receptive to feedback, which I can appreciate. The class has a clear structure and a lot of the assignments aren't too bad, just tedious, but I just wish the class were more engaging.
The class assigns heavy work, with all homework on Khan Academy—full credit only if all answers are correct. Weekly group work feels counterproductive in an online setting. Instructions are unclear, and updates lack support. Grading is slow, and while emails get responses, overall communication is limited.
Grosteffon is a very kind man. He is so understanding and will help you through your struggle. This class is hard because of the content, but he will take every step to support you. I highly recommend office hours and just asking questions. The content of this course was very difficult for me but the tests align with the hw.
A solid professor, be ready to do lots and lots of homework every week. The good thing is that you can redo the khan academies for unlimited attempts (i advise that you get %100 from the first session you do them) because they accumulate quickly and you will be sitting for a good 8 hours doing them at the end of the semester. He's very kind as well.
