I got him my first year of teaching, so I should be cutting him a bit of slack. If he can't figure out the questions himself, he shouldn't be teaching the course!!!
seriously, this teacher has got to go. he doesn't know his material and reads everything off the book. he doesn't even give you solutions to your quizzes so you'll never know why you got the question wrong. not recommendable.

Not so much as a teacher nor as person. He should really consider golf instead of accounting. One thing you’d definitely learn from him is that his baby daughter is the cutest on earth “as he claims.” He marks unfairly he has issues with his sweaters they’re too big for him
Very difficult - will not take questions over email, but if a question is asked in class, he says he'll need to look at it and "get back to you" but he won't. If you have one mistake on a muli-part question, the entire question is marked incorrect.
Steve makes class interesting and enjoyable compared to other accounting courses, which is such a nice change. His teaching style makes the material easy to understand and almost fun. He genuinely cares about his students and motivates them to do well. His encouraging words really make all the difference, he's a great teacher!!!
Steve's classes are set up so that if you come to class and do the suggested problems you can be confident that you are prepared to wirte his tests. Steve likes to teach and is enthusiastic in class. I think most people who do not like his teaching style are most likely not interested in putting any of their own effort into learning the material.

Horrible teacher. I think teachers should encourage their students, rather then make them feel stupid.

Very sarcastic in nature. Totally agree with the person who said he makes students look stupid. Like if you know it all help us, correct us not announce our mistakes infront of the whole class. I am not a bad student but his partial behavior of liking few people in the class took away my interest in his subject. Too bad to see people who are here t

I agree with everyone!! He picks favorites and enjoys making fun of his students!!! Don't take his class unless you are willing to teach yourself the entire course because he does no teaching at all. He will simple through questions at you and expect you do be able to do them. I would not recommend him to anyone!!
Not a very good teacher. In tax does not really follow the proper format and has to look up the answers to most student questions. He also says we should use a professional tax guy to do our taxes and that he does the same. How can you teach tax if your don't do your own taxes?
He is a good teacher if you are the kind of student who learns by doing. He doesn't teach it to you. He wants you to struggle with the problems and figure them out on your own. I learned an immense amount through this method of teaching. I also got my first A+ in an accounting course because of it.
steve's a really nice guy! people only complain about him because he expects you to do work outside of class to prepare, which isn't unreasonable at all! he sends awesome lesson notes and his problems are like what are done in class. teaching style forces you to learn! put in the effort and you'll get what you deserve!great teacher!
Steve was my ManagementAccounting instructor (fall 2008). I got an A+ with minimum need to study at home. He uses the "in class" time very efficiently by asking students to do practice problems in class and learn by doing. He showed us the best approach to solve each type of problem. He is the best accounting instructor I've ever had.
poor teaching
Steve was an excellent ACCT 305 instructor. He used in-class time effectively by assigning questions and clarifying any problems that students ran into. He was always available for extra help, and always encouraged his students to do their best. I would definitely recommend this instructor to any prospective students.
Great instructor. Very focused on ensuring all students understand what they are expected to do, but with the flexibility to be creative and think on their own. Definately a higher level instructor who motivates his students to a higher level
I did not learn anything from his class. He is not very encouraging person. First time in Acct i got below A because of his teaching style or i should say he does not even has any teaching style.
Steve Janz is the worst instructor I have had. He teaches the class like you already know the material. When it comes to practice questions he will tell you to try a question on your own and his way of going over the answer is displaying it on the overhead projecter and have you copy the answer down. DO NOT HAVE HIM TEACH YOU FOR ANY CLASS TRUST ME
WORST INSTRUCTOR EVER! I didn't pass ACCT 345 or 365 with him teaching. He would just tell you to do a questions in the class and not teach you HOW to do it! How do you expect to learn that way. We PAT TUITION so we can FAIL! YAY!!!
Very bias teacher, he would give would do anything (free marks) for a girl as long as she is submiting to him. If you are a guy, too bad. If you ask him a question, he gets disturbed and his voice tone changes, he is only confortable with whaterver he is prepared for. that is why he tries to intimedate anyone who asks questions. Good luck
This instructor is bad, He will teach you a certain way of doing somthing but for exams he will ask you for the material that he did not cover. Also he plays favorites and marks unfair if you get this instructor prepared to get a 70% at best. also like other people mentioned he does not like to answer emails or in person. anyways hes bad avoid.
He is a lazy instructor. He talks about himself and chats with individual students about half of the class time.I didn't learn much from him.
If you attend class and read the chapters ahead of time you will do well in his class. he does care about how his students do (he does seem to pay more attention to the girls) THIS DOES NOT AFFECT MARKING! he marks everyone exactly the same. His class prepares you for harder courses and shows you that you get back what you put in.
Avoid Him , there is nothing positive i can tell about him . Never take any class with this guy . He is super lazy and never explain any thing . He thinks you know everything . BUT FOR REAL TRY TO NO TAKE HIS CLASS.
He’s odd all he does is talk about how great he is,or random rants about things that have nothing to do with what he is suppose to teach, doesnt seem to like it when students ask him questions since answers are condescending and brief,I didnt learn anything from him. But he does seem to care about students succeeding & can be somewhat motivational
One of the best instructors i have had, clear, professional and straight to the point. All you have to do is go to class and you ll be able to get an A+, u ll love his class ;)
Good teacher, had him for financial and cost ACCT. Pretty easy going guy, and enthusiastic about teaching. Despite previous comments, he seems respectful to all students. His makes the lessons feel really easy, and he goes through the same concept a few times so everything clear. Tells you exactly what will be on the tests, so his tests are easy.
Steve Janz is a wonderful teacher. Other students that proclaim he is lazy are false. He gets his students involved by letting them try concepts on their own. I think some students are used to being given an answer right away instead of looking for it themselves. He transforms students into independent thinkers who can succeed in accounting.
The only good thing is he explains concepts a multitude of ways. Other than that we breezed through the course and barely dove into the material. I was discussing the class with a student who took it with another teacher and we missed out. His effort level drops after the SIRs are completed. He's not objective with grades so make sure he likes you.
He is the WORST teacher i ever had, If i knew he would be like that, i would of never taken this class, i agree with some of the student, i don't think he knows the material and he just goes through the examples problem i can do that at home. TRY AVOIDING HIM AT ALL COST
Get ready to learn by yourself, and do a lot of home learning. Missing classes means lost marks, and you mark your own tests then he remarks them but never tells you what the correct answers are.
His tests are pretty easy! He's making is fair. Final was simple and straight forward as well.
Steve is a good guy. If you go to every class and take notes, you will get an A in his course. His teaching style is great and his class always goes by fast because it is interactive. One thing he could work on is consistancy with his grading from test to test.
Very ignorant and unhelpful teacher. He does the bare minimum for teaching students. Definitely doesn't motivate students, he is in fact a teacher who demotivates you. He makes you feel as if you know nothing and simply isn't very helpful at ALL! Most definitely the worst teacher I have ever had at SAIT! I will never take a class with him again!!!!
I really think that the tuition fee that students pay to learn from this guy is a total waste. Every class, he talks about successful people that he knows, and the tone of the voice is very snobby. As with lot of other reviews, yes, it is true that he makes students feel like stupid whenever asking questions. Don't take any of his class.
A disrespectful teacher. Ask him a question he will literally respond with "Figure it out, yourself", e-mails the class for assignments due without clear grading criteria and docks off mark from paper wrinkles and written touch ups. He also likes to brag about his "ACCOMPLISHMENTS" he will cut the lecture just to talk about himself. RIP OFF.
Overly self preached conceited narcissist. Avoid this professor at all cost, he is more likely to brag in class than teach. His answer to student questions are "I dont know, why dont you figure it out?" And he will make sure to say it loud to make you feel stupid in front of the class. text book material and his class lecture doesnt connect. Waste
Avoid at all costs. I was on his good side for a long time and had an A+. Joked with him that he was unprofessional for spilling coffee all over my paper, so he sent me to the deans office and my grade has mysteriously dropped to B-. I wish SAIT would pay attention to these kinds of teachers and get rid of them.
He needs to learn that he cannot stop the class to tell us what he did over the weekend or what happened to him in the way to class. He doesn't reply to any emails sent by students. He has no respect for students and marks them based on favourites. Also made his one hour lab into a 2 hour mandatory lecture. Only cares about his doctorate research.
While Steve is a decent teacher, he has a subpar character. He loves talking about himself and tells us that only a few of us has "it" (getting a CGA). He is a hard marker - only rights and wrongs (no part marks). He often compares class to the real world and how we need to be prepared, but in the real world, we can have resources to review. Avoid.
This instructor provides poor teaching service, he wants to be respected by his students but has zero respect for them. No clear grading criteria and expects his students to mark their own tests and he re-marks it after without feedback, his lectures are inadequate, the textbook material is different. I suggest taking alternatives. Buyer beware.
I should have refunded and dropped his course. Word of warning, do NOT take this teacher to teach you. Save your accounting passion, if you take it with this instructor it will be ruined. His teachings are way off and is more of memorization of each chapter, he throws questions we never went over the class and expects us to know it. Get real.
Overall he is a great teacher
He is the best instructer ever. He is very helpful in his method of teaching and he let us practice a lot in his class until he makes sure we understand. I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to study accounting courses.
Fantastic :)
Steve is a fun guy during class, but when it comes to marking assignments and tests he's very detailed and picky. Everything has be done to exactly even the spacing between journal entires for him to give you full marks. However, he is opened for help for students even with resume writing too!
Please stay away from this professor. He has a big bubble around his head because he got lucky enough to attend a conference at Harvard and co-authored a chapter in one of the book for Cost Accounting. He deludes students by his key phrase (at this level, you should know) and if you don't than, good luck doing decent in his class. No help. Beware
Took advanced Tax with Steve, and found he was very clear on his lectures. Good at explaining things especially with such a difficult course. Did a lot of group learning in class which I found was a different teaching approach but enjoyed it. Felt he was a fair marker also. Overall great teacher!
He is very rudeness. He never known how to respect students. Don't take any class of him.
He is very arrogant and rude. Don't make the mistake of taking the class with him. If you have already made the mistake, correct it asap!! Highly recommend not taking class with him.
Sadly in my program he is the only instructor available for the course, otherwise I would have never taken his class. Get ready to come to class for hell and go home and go through another hell to study, because his lecture dont make sense. If I had no part time job, I would do night class to not experience the anxiety of his terrible attitude.
His actually teaching and tests are completely fair and extremely decent, in fact when he's not going on about how great he is, he teaches the content very well. Except if you don't worship him from day one, forget about him ever being civil to you. Avoid his condescending tyranny if at all possible, unless you're okay with sucking up to him.
Don't take his class. He degrades the class with his attitude and he thinks he's so great. Well he's not great and he's teachings brutally dry. Take a night class and save your soul
The pro is that he highlights the most challenging part of a topic for students and gives extra practice for it, but you are left to figure out some easier details on your own. His class is not a smooth lecture, but a brief explanation of a concept and practice in groups by whiteboards. Exams' questions are similar to the ones in practice package.
I found Steve to be a great teacher. He focused his class lectures on the harder topics. If you put in the time and effort you will do really well in this class.
Steve is a wonderful teacher! I feel like I learn the best with him. He does have a different teaching style where by he goes over the topic a bit then the rest is group work. But he always is willing to help. A lot of people have issues with his "cocky" attitude but you have to get over that. Once you do you will have a great experience in class.
Steve allowed me to enjoy Financial Accounting again. His style of teaching is not traditional but if you "buy in" you will love it. It is an absolute must (if you want to succeed) to watch the pre-class and post-class video's as well as attend every single class. He does an amazing job of getting you prepared for the real world. 10/10
I don't know why Steve gets a lot of beef. He's a great prof and you will actually learn from him. He's very enthusiastic about his job and he will help you if need it, but this isn't an easy A course and it does require to do your work (please do it! it really helps) . If you actually do all the things you will pass with flying colors.
Overall, a good teacher in Accounting! However, you really need to work and study hard in his class.
Really enjoyed his class. It was a lot of work but worth it in the end.
Steve provides YouTube video support resources which were extremely helpful in understanding the content. He was always prepared to help out with questions or problems. His sense of humour made for an enjoyable class experience.
Listen, Learn, Practice and apply. Steve is definitely proud of what he does. He can sometimes be considered overly proud even borderline narcissistic. If you don't like his personality ignore it and listen to him as a teacher because he get the job done. He's not here to hold hands and be friends, hes here to teach. Listen, Learn, Practice, Apply.
Steve is not your typical teacher. He uses a very different style than most other instructors at SAIT. He uses a flipped class which means he has the students teach each other. This was extremely helpful for me as I learnt more by my ability to teach the class. If you want to do well go to every class and do all homework assignments.
If you are willing to learn further, Steve is the instructor to go! He develops learning and skill, with accounting concepts and correct tools like Excel. With a combination of theoretical and practical approaches, Steve creates a learning environment worthy of recognition. Course load is well spread over the quizzes and midterms with no stress.
Enjoyed his class and he was a fair marker.
Steve is a wonderful instructor! Students who say he is lazy are lazy themselves. Do other instructors put in the extra effort and make YouTube videos? No. Those YouTube videos were very helpful. If I had Steve for all the other classes, I would have As in every class. Pay attention in his class and you'll ace his class. Overall, he a great teacher
In this class, I learnt more than in any other class. Steve's teaching technique is unbelievable and attending class is incredibly beneficial. He gives us all board space to work through problems together for the tough concepts and is always there to help us if we encounter any road blocks.
AWESOME INSTRUCTOR! I wish all instructors are like him, caring and helpful. Material for this course is hard but he made it fun and easy. He has youtube videos for important topics which helped us prepare for class. Also, He gave us chance to learn on our own by letting us solve problems on the board (when we're struggling he was ready to help us)
Steve is a great teacher! His teaching style is interactive and helpful.
If you show up and do the work, you will do very well! He is very fair, you will get what you put into it. If you have potential he will help develop it. Course content is to the point; test content is not surprising; group work is well integrated; participation is encouraged. Understanding, supportive, welcoming, encouraging, funny, inspiring.
Steves class was in my second semester of year two of my program. It is also my highest accounting grade since I came to SAIT. I felt like the topics were explained clearly, and efficiently. I retained more information from this specific class, than from any previous accounting classes I have taken.
Steve was a great teacher! As long as you follow his guild lines you will do great in the course. He takes care to explain information thoroughly, and ensures that you understand through practice. I love his style of teaching, as I learnt more in this accounting course than any other course, and I actually retained information.
Steve is a dedicated instructor! He made pre and post class video to help us better understand class contents. Besides, he created Steve schedule for solving bonds and leases questions which is really effective. If you are well prepared before each class as well as familiar with all practice problems, you will pass this course with great confident.
One of the best professor I ever had. Great method of teaching, provides all resources needed. A bit of practice on what he shows and assigns, will make you succeed in this course. He will take you through a very rewarding studying process. A very passionate instructor who is there to share all tips and tricks to succeed. Just loved his classes.
Janz brings an innovative brand of teaching to SAIT School of Business. I had him for both Management Accounting courses while obtaining my degree. Steve's class does not bore you with lectures, or PowerPoints, rather he encourages you to take part in the teaching process. Attend class, focus on YouTube and Practice Problems/Solutions.
Steve did a great work trying to make very complex material easier to understand for us. He has been teaching this class for many years. His YouTube videos, notes and practice package made preparation for quizzes and exams very simple. You always know what to expect during the exams. I really recommend taking the class with him!
I've had Steve Janz for multiple classes at SAIT, and each time he has been an amazing instructor. He knows what he wants from his students, so if you do your pre-reading, show up to class, pay attention, and participate you'll score a pretty easy A. He also has fun and useful stories to show us how we will actually use our education!
Steve is a great teacher. His classes and note packages are super clear and leave no question as to what you may be tested on. He has a way of making challenging topics seem very basic and easy to understand. Put in the work and show him respect, and he will do the same for you. I would definitely take another class with Steve.
He makes the class teach themselves and when you ask him for help, he tell you to go read the textbook for help.
He is the best instructor ever. he is very good in teaching and he is fair in marking. I advise everyone to take any course with him
He is great instructor
One of SAIT's best instructors. 4 on the toughness scale reads "Makes you work for it" and that is exactly what Steve does. He can be harsh and blunt, but it is his way of preparing you for industry. He expects the best out of everyone of his students. He teaches and facilitates learning so well that skipping class is never worth it.
The Lectures and class time was amazing, he gave a lot of good examples and encouraged class participation. The projects were hard but you always worked with others and content was worth the effort. Although attendance is not technically required it is highly recommended.
Steve is one of my favourite instructors and I really like his teaching style.A lot of learning happened during classes,a lot of group exercises instead of just the traditional way of reading from the PowerPoint. I feel my critical thinking skills improved a lot after taking his class and it's an asset to have when I'm entering the work forces.
In-class participation & discussions were fun & entertaining -helped retain the information more. Do what he says, watch the videos! (reason why I didn't do as well) Preclass papers were helpful and prepared me for the upcoming classes. Participate, it shows your work ethics. Good change of class structure and activities compared to other courses.
Steve is a great teacher. He goes above and beyond in his class by not only teaching the required material but also by teaching students excel functions that will be extremely beneficial in the workforce. His teaching style is one of a kind and extremely beneficial for success in the course and in the industry. Highly recommend.
Steve is a fair prof with a unique teaching style. Very hands on and engaging lessons really made you remember the material. Larger projects helped us apply our learning. Just make sure to put in the work!
Steve uses progressive educational techniques that work. He uses both media technology and advanced techniques like reverse classrooms and reflection assignments to help students learn effectively. Concepts are taught in manageable chunks and always explained in the context of real world examples. His courses will prepare you more than any other.
Steve was one of the best instructors I've ever had. He prepares you for future jobs and interviews. His YouTube videos are amazing, and they explain challenging concepts that accessible after school hours. He always focused on the analysis portion of the questions (preparing you for the CPA designation) and I learned how to efficiently use Excel.
Never take his class!! he waste your precious class time.
Steve thinks outside of the box when it comes to his teaching style. His use of progressive teaching techniques such as the reflections require buy in from the students. However, if you are willing to participate with enthusiasm and effort you will learn a lot in his class and will be well prepared for a future in industry.
Steve may have some idiosyncrasies which may not suit every student, but his methods of instruction ensure everyone understands the important concepts before the end of the semester. Personally I am not in class to make friends with instructors, I am there to learn the material and Steve is one of the best at ensuring his students are prepared.
Steve truly sets his students up for success by teaching tools that is relevant in todays industry such as, pivot tables and linear programing. The lectures were fun and interesting because of the hands-on learning provided in the classroom. He ensures that his students will have experiences that turn into incredible stories to share in interviews
Steve is a fantastic instructor for Management Accounting. It's evident that this is his specialty, especially using his method of instruction (flipped classroom). I had him for intermediate financial accounting II and I can say that he is simply much better for mgmt acct. He is a bit condescending, so if you can get past that, he's good.
Steve is a great teacher that wants his students to pass the course, however his personality is the worst. If you skip his class he will email you and wont help you if you have questions. He doesn't really care about his students but will do everything to make sure you pass as long as you show up to class
Doesn't really teach the more complicated stuff and spends lecture time describing stuff that is more basic. He's not BAD, but has a tendency to be rigid and can be pretty condescending and dismissive. If you work, you'll do fine, but I found his personality to be sort of unpleasant and will avoid classes with him in the future.
Steve teaches his students relevant skills that will ensure their success in the workforce such as pivot tables, linear programing, balanced scorecard and so much more. Also, he encourages hands on learning which helped me retain the material. Never a dull moment; the classroom of students was consistently interacting. I really enjoyed his class.
Really enjoyed the class, Steve's departure from the usual teaching style of stand there and lecture made his classes far more enjoyable than most. He also helps develop skills that remain relevant outside of the class room (developing excel skills). Would take another one of his classes.
Awesome time in Steve's class! He makes every class engaging and stays away from the traditional "death by power-point" teaching style. He goes above and beyond for his students and prepares you with valuable skills that you will most likely use in your first accounting role (Excel). Uses his industry experience to make course content relatable.
Steve was an outstanding prof. Very helpful and inspiring. You really have to put the effort in but hey you're in college so that shouldn't be a surprise. Overall amazing guy and really prepares you for life after you graduate as well.
One of the best teachers at SAIT! He doesn't give any extra homework and everything that he gives you is all you will need to get through the class with flying colours. Everything that was given for homework made it in the exam or assignment in some way.
He's a fine professor, especially in the field of accounting he's one of the best I've had. In terms of advanced accounting courses, he's the only one that makes the subject clear to me, he relates the modules to real life experiences which makes it easier for students to understand. If you're into talk heavy lectures then you'll love his class.
Steve is definitely the best instructor! His explanations are so clear and vivid that you will understand many tough questions immediately. He also links the theory to real life. If you really want to learn something, don't hesitate to take his course. I'd love to take any course he teaches.
I would avoid this instructor. He is a really mean and strict instructor. He has no respect for students. His explanations made me more confused than ever. If you don't succeed in his class he blames you for it. He is never clear on what he wants in his assignments. So, get ready to work your butt off and do your assignments over and over again.
I took his Cost Accounting class at UofC. Both Midterms were done in Excel, but he preps and coaches you on it beforehand. To do well, make sure you practice the questions he assigns and gives in class. Overall, I found Steve to be a very knowledgeable, engaging, and caring professor. I liked the CPA tips and life lessons he shares to students.
Definitely one of the best professors I've had here at SAIT. Do the assigned homework, participate in class, and polish up on your Excel skills, and you'll do well in this class. I would definitely take another accounting class with Steve as his hands-on methods really work for me. An added bonus is the tips he gives into preparing for the CFE.
Steve is a fantastic prof, with loads of experience and advice under his belt. The questions asked on tests are questions done in class with slight variations to the numbers. There is never any 'surprise' questions on exams. Participate in class, understand how to complete the questions done in class, and listen to Steve's advice, you will get an A
To be fair, he is knowledgeable about the subject matter and teaches efficiently. This doesn't outweigh the way he overestimates the difficulty of the class to make people drop, makes groups do impromptu presentations, and marks by a ridiculously limited rubric. The class isn't horrible if you can stomach the way he runs it.
Steve was an amazing instructor, he teaches in an interactive way that made me very engaged and excited to learn every class. He made solutions available for students and helped in every possible way. He has great insights about accounting and business management in general .I Highly recommend his class.
Steve is a very good teacher, he gives very good lectures and explains things well. The tests that he gives are very fair with the questions on the midterm and final are straight from the practice problems. He also sets you up very well for your career with the skills he teachers in class and gives you great career/life advice. I would take again!
Steve is a remarkable professor. It is quite obvious that he teaches with passion, and it shows in his lectures as he utilizes various learning methods to drive the ideas home. He is able to take a topic such as accounting and make it relevant & enjoyable to learn. Grading was fair, you do need to show up to class in order to succeed in the course.
I highly recommend! Mr. Janz is one of the best instructors and I really enjoyed this course. His teaching style is simple and efficient very little to stress about. He demonstrates the steps in the class and you can simply have to follow along and pay attention. If you put in the effort, an A is almost guaranteed!
Steve is one of the best 3 accounting instructors that I had during the time I was at SAIT. He is a nice and knowledgeable instructor, I could learn a lot of things about Accounting field during his class. Easy to get A in his class if you read book, do your homework and practice exercises in textbook
Steve is a great instructor. He spends time making sure students interact with each other and practice the theory. He is clear on the course requirements and does not try to trick you on exams. However, attendance is a must or you will not do well.
Steve is a great professor because he used defferent ways to let students understand, and he made some videos about the course. Also, he will use the hole class time to teach and practice. However, If your course foundation is excellent, you should choose him. In contrast, if your foundation is general, you must learn more at home.
He tries to make the course engaging, but most of his speeches are about himself and not really on content. He played youtube videos of himself explaining some of the topics. He is condescending and a strict grader. Doesn't respond to emails. He doesn't care if students succeed and he is mean to those questioning anything. I would not recommend.
He is super easy going, he guides you through all the questions during lecture and come exam time he uses nearly the same questions as he did in class with some modification so there's no surprises on tests. Would recommend taking his class. His lectures aren't recorded though so you must show up.
He comes off as arrogant/rude and is not really good at teaching the materials. Does not really help students or give good feedback when some students ask questions. He also does not go over the materials step by step. He is a picky grader as well as have expectations for his students. Would not recommend this instructor.
Do Not recommend this teacher! Arrogant and disrespectful to students. He thinks he is smarter than anyone else is. His jokes are not funny and sometimes offensive. He refuses to help with anything that you are straggling with. If you ask a question, he is sending you to read a chapter or tells you to figure it out yourself or ask a student!
Extremely tough and unfair grader. Be prepared to study a lot on your own. His explanations are not clear. He makes you feel that if you do not understand something it is your fault and you should try harder because it is an advanced class, and if you are not succeeding in his class you should just simply quit! No responsibility on his part!
Not a good teacher at all. Very arrogant and disrespectful. Take personal matters against students when grading exams. He couldn't be worse. I am not sure if I will not withdraw from the course. I strongly NOT recommend Steve to any students. The worse among the worse. He shouldn't be teaching anything.
This greaseball kept pushing students to buy the textbook. Not once was the actual textbook required, except for this class. Then it dawned on me that this deceiver makes money on the sale of the textbook because his silly name is on the front cover. This guy is all about himself and making money from students. He's such a deceptive grader as well
Incompetent professor that is not mindful of the many stressors students have while taking his class. He does not give feedback and ridicules you for not doing well, despite barely teaching the course. Those who genuinely want to learn will not gain anything from him. His outlook on life is extremely negative, which translates to his teaching style
A lot of texts and never give you feedback, He just grades you whatever he wants, very arrogant and disrespectful. Just Avoid him At All Cost.
I enjoyed Steve's class, he is quite entertaining and has many great stories. I feel like I recieved a lot out of his class and gained a better knowledge of financial accounting overall. Steve is also very passionate about his work. You must show up to class or you're not going to do well.
I would not recommend anyone to take a class with him. He does not specify anything in class and expects the student to know everything. He is all about himself and making money from students. He is very arrogant and not at all a good teacher.
He will trick you when he marks your assignment by not giving your test back. He will deceive you into looking at the answers prior to giving your tests back so that he can give you whatever mark he felt like that day. He also like to flirt with students (Keep your daughters away) & promotes his useless textbook so he makes commission on the sale.
Definitely an interesting class with Professor Janz. He has a unique teaching style - can come across as a bit arrogant at times, but if you engage with the material, it's manageable. The textbook is required, but using unstuck AI alongside it really helped me prep for exams.
Be prepared to work with an arrogant and fast-paced instructor. He normally takes half course hours to teach and let you practice on your own without answering ur any questions or offering any help for the rest of the class time. Be careful for his tests as he will mark each mistake by 1-2 points but he tricks you with full mark on exercise.
Steve is trying to prepare us for the real world where many of us may be THE accountant for a business with no one to turn to but ourselves and be the best of the best working alongside AI. Attendance isn't mandatory for grades, but do not expect ANY leniency from him if you don't attend class, are late often, and don't put in the hours to study.
I do not recommend taking this class with Steve unless you are someone who can successfully teach yourself a course with little to no instructor help. No feedback is given on assignments to help students learn where they excel and where they do not. He does not respond to student emails, and he is rude and disrespectful in the classroom setting.
Went out to buy a whole footlong from subway in the middle of class, very unprofessional. Doesn't answers questions clearly and makes you figure everything out. Every class he leaves early, at this point dont even attend his classes as there is no point since he doesn't teach at all.
Rude Towards Students, Makes students cry, buy only the online textbook physical one is useless. You need to teach yourself to survive get a good study group, really demotivating professor who leaves early in class. Drop this class unless if your good at teaching yourself. Practice tests are easy and direct while tests are more complicated worded.
Great instructor for this class, he has made what could have been very dry material interesting and provided students with tools to be successful in his class using clearly defined parameters. 10/10 would recommend this instructor. Steve is awesome but you must remain engaged and do the work to succeed in his class.
He is okay.
Steve is very organized and communicates instructions clearly. His classes are structured, and the weekly expectations are easy to follow. There is a fair amount of self-practice and assignments, but everything connects well with the course outcomes. If you stay on top of the assignments, the course is manageable.
Steve is an awesome Professor! I really learned a lot in his class that will help with my future career! He records all his lectures in case you miss any. I would definitely take another class with him!
If you wanna get another A+, take his class. Don't hesitate.
Steve's been encouraging the students from the beginning of the course to get an A+, and did everything possible to ensure we can get that grade. The best thing about his class is that he never wasted time, and for any group project there was enough time during scheduled class time to complete them. Enjoyed this class very much!
Absolutely terrible at teaching. He is rude and I genuinely believe it's because he wants people to drop his class. Will solve problems in front of the class and then tell you everything you're doing wrong in disrespectful ways. He is rude and disrespectful. He is moving to MRU starting in Sept 2026, I'm not religiou,s but I pray for MRU students.
RUDE Professor you will need to learn stuff on YOUR OWN with good people, only reason i have a A+ is bc of that. He is INCOMPETENT in technology removing bonus mark's from a test for something he didn't teach bc he doesn't know how to use computer. ONLY BUY ONLINE TEXTBOOK. You don't need physical. Falling behind isnt the end, for first days.
Forced us to buy unnecessary $400 textbook so he can make sales for himself. His motivations for his methods of teaching are questionable.
He is very MEAN and RUDE to student in the class. He is not teaching and only make us figured things out by ourselves. He cancelled a lot of class to which his BlueJay team. I would not reccommed to take acoounting in his class. I wish you all the best if you have class with him and be well prepared to study by yourself.
I would not recommend taking his class. He doesn't really teach the material and instead expects students to figure things out on their own with little explanation. When asked questions, he tells students to ‘figure it out.' He also always sends students to the board without context, which is stressful and unhelpful.
He was very tough on the students in the begging weeks I got the impression he was trying to sift through the students who wanted to be there vs the ones who didn't. By the end of the semester he lightened up a bit. He favored the students who were a. willing to participate and b. wanted to pursue accounting.
