The subject matter was primate evolution & adapatation, but instead we got an overview on any and all matters of interest to Mr J. Plan on 3 hours of his cheesy quasi sexual jokes and him talking off subject. Gives 75 TRUE/FALSE Test that he really doesnt prepare you for. Dont count on having time to cover much relevant material- read text for that
sign the attendance sheet and just leave. all you need for the tests are the study guides.
Total wierdo, nice guy, but super wierd. Probably one of the easiest A's I have ever had. I didn't even attend half of the classes and I ended up with a 98 on the final. Really boring lecture that rambles on and on totally off subject. If you really want to learn something, read the textbook and teach yourself!
He kinda just talks and talks forever. He's a REALLY nice and good guy, you can tell, but, I couldn't really pay attention because it was so boring. Tests were all True/False/Multiple choice. Loads of extra credit available.
Nicest, sweetest guy ever! He's like the absent minded prof. seems to ramble on whilehalf the class isasleep but he's passionate about anthro and his students.if you have a question he'll glady try to help you understand. Brilliant man in many areas, nice to talk to and an easy class overall. DVC is so lucky to have him as a prof!
Seems like a nice guy, and is very passionate about the subject, but he goes off on so many tangents that I feel like it's not worth the effort to attend class. Don't take this class late at night, because it WILL put you to sleep!
Just completed Magic, Religion, and the America's class. Johnson is by far one of the worst teachers I've ever had. I think I might have actually gotten dumber because of him. He's a nice guy, and really smart, but he rambles and tells convoluted stories that slowly kill your soul with bordom. Also, he never lets anyone else talk or ask questions.
Total waste of time, garbage class. Is he a nice guy...sure. Is he a good teacher, no way. Rambled about his family and his personal life all the time, inbetween episodes of the X-files. Stupidest class I've ever taken.
Easy class and a very good instructor. He is unorganized but oh well we all have our faults. The tests are easy and the material is exciting. We watch some cool stuff in the class as well. I recommend it
Bottom line is his classes are easy. If you have to take Anthro, there aren't many teachers that are this easy. There are only a couple T/F tests and he tells you during the test how many true and how many false. Then the test is curved! He is a nice guy and is willing to help you if you go to his office. Its not as boring as eveyone says.
HES VERY BORING AND I HAVE HAD THE BEST NAPS IN THIS CLASS, KILL ME BEFORE I GO HERE PLEASE... dont take EVER
Simply put, the single worst teacher at DVC! The man is unprepared, boring as hell, and will veer off subject for 45 minutes at a time on any trivial matter (and this is a 3 HOUR CLASS). If sleeping your way to an A is your idea of an ideal class, this is right up your alley. However, if you are genuinely interested in learning, avoid this class!
Physical anthro was a boring class, the teacher was boring, but there were some interesting tid bits here and there, i thought the class was OK and I'm glad I took it but if I could do it over again I would have just done another class for my science ge NOT THIS ONE!
Doc, What can I say about him. He is unprepared will go off topic for massive amounts of time. He gives you "study terms" to use for the tests but none of the info is even on the test. If you are good at guessing your way to an A then this is your class. He's very entertaining quite a character, ill give him that ha
He probably knows everything known to mankind on the subject but I think it makes it hard to understand the material just because he uses terms you won't likely understand (ex. latin names of species). Show up but bring something to keep yourself entertained. I got a B but did hardly any work.
This guy is an awesome teacher. He may have been late and may have went off topic but i mean come on its anthro. there is so much to say that its impossible to stay on subject. If you are looking for a great class and a great blues musician steve is the best..It is impossible to get below a B in this class..
His class is super boring, but you can just sleep in the lecture hall because attendance is mandatory. He's a funny guy if you give him a chance. He plans for 5 exams, but in my class we only got to 3 (including the final). I've taken biology plenty of times so this class was a breeze, everything is pretty basic and you can bring notes for tests.
Extremely boring. If you like X-Files and watching movies, this is the class for you. He rambles...a lot. But on the bright side, there was only one test for our class (tells you how many true/false), and he offers a lot of extra credit. Very easy, but not the most worth while.
Probably the worst teacher i've ever had at DVC. Hes at least ten minutes late every day, and then spends another ten minutes making up excuses as to why he was late. He rambles, watches movies, and talks about baseball and football in our witchcraft and religion class. THE MOST UNINTERESTING PERSON i've talked to in years.
Steve was an awesome professo! So knowledgeable and interesting! I especially loved the lecture on synchronicity!
Super funny guy, very nice and knows a lot but his lectures are all over the place. I took him twice and in both of my classes we had only 1 test all semester and they were all t/f. The final in my witchcraft class was a 2-3 page paper instead of a test. Take him if you want a easy A.
Steve Johnson is a joke. He never prepares for lectures or for class at all, and talks forever about random tangents and personal stories. Worst teacher i've had at DVC in my two years.
10 to 20 minutes late every day, lectures barely make any sense. However, he's willing to answer all questions and is very enthusiastic about what he teachers. Tests are designed for you not to fail, offers extra credit and lets you use a cheat sheet on all three tests. Put up with the tardiness and disjointed lectures for the easy A.
It's an easy A, but he's super scatterbrained and unprepared. Late to class every single time and has us go on 20-25 minute breaks while he sets labs up. Nobody knew what to study for the midterm so I had to use stuff I learned from my previous anthro classes. A total time waster. You won't learn anything in class.
Always late, never worth the wait. Don't waste your time with this teacher. The only reason I'm still in this class is because we haven't done ANYTHING in the ten weeks of classes. He "lectures" about nonsense, 40 percent of which has nothing to do with anthropology. However, he is an easy A and I suppose that's why students still tolerate him.
Okay... so this guy may be boring, late to class, extremely unorganized, not focused, etc., BUT if you truly like anthro and dont mind getting an A i suggest you take him. he isn't that bad. kind of a funny character if you ask me
Great teacher, fun lectures and interesting videos and the tests not very hard. I enjoyed yhe class very much!
Really boring lecture so bring some entertainment. He sidetracks from the subject too much. Class really easy lots of extra credit. Test are T or F and he tells you how many of each so you can guess yourself thru it. DON'T buy his book its a waste of money and i didn't even crack it open and i still passed with a B. Oh, and don't talk in his class.
Mr. Johnson is a very nice man just not a good teacher. Book is not used at all, this it tottaly self study class, boring-mostly out of subject lectures, many extra credit points, study quide provided, 3 tests vere tricky, complex, included material not covered, test note card allowed. Take this class if you do not need lectures and can self study.
do not recommend this class. it was extremely hard to follow, his lectures were often off topic and all over the place. three tests that are mostly true of false, they were very tricky, note cards often didnt help. dont take this class unless you have ability to learn on your own, and dont get bored easily.
He is not clear at all about assignments, you will become very confused as to what he wants or expects. For labs you just draw pictures, but everyone would just take pictures on their phones and go home. He is extremely nice! I thought I was going to get at least a C, but I got an A. If you're looking for an easy A, take him!
Lectures constantly without pause and gets horribly sidetracked. He will not answer questions in class, so don't bother raising your hand. Encourages ZERO class participation and gets really upset if anyone is talking at all. He's a very nice guy, knowledgeable, and relatively easy, so if you just sit and stay quiet you'll probably do well.
Steve Johnson is enthusiastic about what he does, but he is not very clear and often goes off topic (I never knew what to take notes on!).Because there isn't HW, only multiple choice tests, it's hard to fail this course. However, it won't be a guaranteed A unless you're familiar with Anthro or you study at least a little bit. Class is pretty boring
Nice, funny, good guy. Wants everyone to pass so you are told for about 3 wks that he's collecting HW before he does it. Interesting material and, although he goes off topic, asking him direct questions will help clear up any confusion. Offers extra credit, too, but not really necessary; if you show up and turn in your work you will receive an A.
Johnson is pretty awesome. I've taken a number of his classes and gotten pretty easy As in all of them. He's a little flakey and scatter-brained, but if you can follow him he's pretty funny and the class will be a breeze, he designs all tests to his lectures. I would definitely take Johnson in any class possible. Very easy. Great guy.
I took Professor Johnson for summer school for Anthropology 140 and I not only did I learn a lot, but I really enjoyed his class. In his class it is all up to you what grade you get. The harder to work, the better you'll do. Plain and simple. That's how it should be.
Lecture classes are very easy but lab is next to impossible. Not very understandable as he loses focus easily and tells the same jokes and political agenda over and over again. If you have to suffer through his class, get back at him by voting republican.
Super boring teacher, i had no idea what was going on in his class. But I got an A!
Doc really knows his stuff and is really interesting. Unfortunately almost nothing he lectures on or gives on the study guide are on his tests. I literally had to read the entire book to get an a in the class. Gives lots of extra credit but otherwise the entire grade is based on tests. Gives ec for attendance:
He repeats lectures. Shows Indiana Jones and leaves to get a sandwich. Talks all day about religion. Lectures go in circles. Tests are 50 questions, with 20 being ex. credit & the rest true false. He loves anthropology and the sound of his own voice. Dont ask questions or he'll spend thirty minutes (not) answering it and making direct eye contact.
To start with, Dr. Johnson is a very nice and enthusiastic person about his subject. However, he loses track of what lectures he gives and he goes off on tangents for which he criticizes mostly conservative groups. But he loves the subject. His tests are somewhat ambiguous. Lectures don't help much with it. Read the book, you should be ok.
The worst I've had at DVC. Class was a joke. Not only do his lectures make no sense because talks in circles but he repeats himself over and over again. If you talk or say anything to your neighbors he threatens your grade by 10 points but you can sit there on your phone for the entire class period and he won't say anything.Study the book that's it
Johnson is a really nice, enthusiastic guy, but teaching is not his forte. He knows so much it is hard for him to focus. He'll ramble on for entire class periods about things that dont relate to physical anthro. Every other class he basically repeats the previous lecture. I never knew what I needed to know, but his study guide has all the answers.
Dr J is a very nice and smart professor, but his lectures are unorganized and he does go off on politics and football and his glory days. Tips to get an A - Read the book, go to class and study the study guide and deffinitions in the book.
i LOVED this class! lectures are scattered, but there funny and interesting. gives 3-4 pg. study guide before each test, allows 1 8x11 cheat sheet every test. most test questions are true false! can chill on ur phone, but just dont talk very simple. u get points for attending. love johnson he is a genius.
He was really easy if you do all the work, which isn't much. He offers a lot of extra credit and he marks you down if you don't show up! Class is boring but if you want an easy A take it.
Learning about Mesoamerica and ancient religions which were stomped out was fascinating. He's an authority on the subject since he's the author of the only textbook written on the subject I believe.
This was honestly one of the coolest classes I have taken in DVC. Prof. Johnson came to class with a new way of teaching the class and basically all we did was make diagrams of skulls/skeletons. It was a very fast pace class because it was summer, but you wont regret taking the class, he accepted late work and didn't take attendance. Awesome Class.
He's a pretty decent teacher. Your grade is only based on a couple of multiple choice exams, so it's important to pay attention in class and do the reading. If you do all of that and take advantage of the extra credit opportunities that he offers, along with the cheat sheet that he allows for each of his exams though, then you should be fine.
He walks into class exactly ten minutes late. A lot of videos and lectures often repeat themselves or he'll go off on a tangent about The Raiders. But he's passionate about anthro. Quizzes are postponed for weeks and are extra credit. Show up for the points, and read the book/study guide for tests. It's not that hard. I wrote this review in class.
I couldn't tell you one thing I learned in this class. How is this man employed? Easy A for sure, but his lectures are garbage and his grading system is a joke. Sign the attendance sheet and sit on your phone for three hours, bring a book to read or other homework to do. You will not participate in this class at all because he is too busy rambling.
I enjoyed every minute of this class. I didn't know much about anthropology when I signed up and now I can't get enough of it. This teacher has a lot of ESL students and teaches to both ends of the spectrum which can't be easy. Great teacher!
Take Johnson and be prepared to learn NOTHING. Nice guy, sure. But holy hell be prepared for useless rambles that are primarily based the Raiders. Study guides had nearly zero to do with the actual mid terms and "weekly quizzes" he'd push back months at a time and forget. If you have trouble teaching yourself , swerve. Worked my ass off and got a B
This class was so easy ! Several quizzes and no test kept putting it off. Nice guy , loves to tell stories he is very eccentric. Attendance is not mandatory. Good teacher if you want an easy A. There is no way you cant pass this class do you work and extra credit is offered.
I hate to give bad reviews, but from an academic standpoint I didn't learn much from him, he does go on tangents about his personal life so much of the time its hard to know when to pay attention. He is such a sweetheart and hilarious, I totally loved hearing him talk about many things but its hard to learn with his style of teaching.
Nicest guy ever. Loves to talk, so sometimes he ignores hand raises. He deducts points off absences. The tests are based off of handouts. Rarely opened the textbook. Learned a lot of cool stuff.
Coming over from a university and taking this class over the summer was probably the easiest thing I have done. He is really easy: straight forward quizzes, extra credit and such. Take him for the A.
Don't need to take final, if you study hard during the semster. (Still can get A)
Mr. Johnson... is an utter joke of a professor. he will talk about his personal life and will get lost on tangents until he doesn't even know the point anymore. He has narrated movie subtitles we can all read, once told a story about skunk sex and tried to tie that to a lecture about sinchronicity. Rarely ever any hw, two tests and a paper EASY AF
This class is boring. 3 hours class and he just keep rambling all the time. Nothing about the Anthropology. This teacher is a joke. Prepare to learn nothing. But tests are kind of easy. Want an A? Take him but you will learn nothing.
He is the best teacher in DVC. He is really easy and loves his job. I really liked his class. I recommend him. 2 tests and a final which asks the students if they want to do at home or in class.
If you really want to learn about anthropology DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!! He is horrible! I thought it would be a fun class and that I would learn something but I've come out of this class hating anthropology and not understanding any of it. His lectures are all about how religion is bad but says its women's fault for everything because of Eve....?
Rambles for three hours and has his own grade standard which I don't understand.
Rambles, repeats, and shows you the same powerpointvideos all semester long. He is a bad teacher, but a nice old man. I doubt he could help you, and his grading system doesn't make sense. For the final you had to bring him a collection of all your work to a one-on-one meeting and then he just tells you your grade, and rambles on again haha.
His tests are on his lectures. Gives out a long study guide but only tests you on a few specific things. Goes on long tangents. He's a Raiders fan so he's cool.
AWESOME TEACHER.. SUPER niCE! eASY A
Johnson is a nice teacher. I took this course in the summer so we had a total of two tests. He gives out a lot more information than he tests on. He goes off on tangents sometimes related to anthro sometimes not so much. He grades fairly easy. He require 4 books for the course which i hardly opened at all. He also gives a points for attendance.
All in all, he is an easy teacher! However, his lecture is sooooo boring and he keep talking about his experiences instead of focusing on the points! He gives take home exam but the questions are complicated and time-consuming, you have to put your time and whole effort in order to guarantee A. Take him if you want an A, but you will learn 0.
So, if you attend his class every day, that's a good 30 points, if you don't, you lose 3. Anyway I received an A, sure his take him tests involve hard work, but they're literally in the book. He grades harsh at times but does offer re-reads and test corrections. i would recommended him for Bio Anthro.
I Learned alot in this class, More than i expected. Ever since taking this class i look at this world different. This teacher made a great impact on me
Extra credit is your class note. You'll hand it to him in last class, then he grades yours right there. He's a good prof, but His rating maybe not fair.B/c My friend copied my note exactly the same, but her grade was higher than me. He graded my note w/o checking carefully. It was a glimpse. Many students said he grades that by just his feeling..
Johnson's lecture is super boring and long but easy A, just take it if you wanna a better GPA! By the way, he is very nice!
Probably the easiest professor in the world
He likes to talk, so the lectures are sometimes tough to get through. Tests are not too difficult, but make sure to take notes during his lectures and study them. Overall this class is an Easy A. If you do well throughout the semester and maintain an A, then he will bypass the final for you so you won't have to take it.
He uses this class as a platform to discuss his personal opinions on things such as religion, which he is against, so avoid him if that is offensive to you. He rambles on for the entire class period and does not encourage any student participation. Easy A class, tests aren't challenging and he offers tons of EC. If you want to actually learn, avoid
Steve Johnson is one of my favorite teacher at DVC, and I would take his class again. He loves to talk, and his class is very interesting. He is a very nice guy, always willing to help. Just show up, take notes, and do the work and you will get an A in this class.
Johnson is an interesting person. For a lab class I didn't expect so much lecture. HOWEVER, just sit through his lectures, take notes on them (he'll grade your notes at the end), do the packets and make it look like you tried, and you should get the A. People grade him poorly based off the lectures but the class is so doable.
Steve Johnson is one of my favorite teacher at DVC, and I would take his class again. He loves to talk, and his class is very interesting. He is a very nice guy, always willing to help. Just show up, take notes, study and do the work that he wants you to do and I will guarantee, you will get an A in this class.
The most funny and hilarious professor I ever have had... Just show up and listen all his stories.
As much as he rambles, he knows his stuff! Class is super dry. I spent the whole clsss period workin on his homework & take home tests. He grades based on effort, not completely based on correctness. Loved his class, easiest science course. But attendance is mantory because he takes roll & gives points for it. It can really effect your grade.
Not a very good teacher but his class is very easy to an A. He talks so much during lecture which makes it very boring. Everything is take-home and all you have to do find all the information online. Try to write as much as you can on the papers, then he will give you a good grade. He doesn't read the content, but he cares how much you wrote. Easy!
Mr. Johnson gives out lots of homework in every 2 weeks or so. His lecture is really boring. (When I say boring, I mean it.) But he is relatively generous in terms of grading. So his class is basically a if-you-do your-work-and-show-up-you-will-get-an-A-for-sure type of class.
Do NOT take this lab if you are actually trying to learn anything. This might as well be an art class. All you will do is draw hundreds of pictures of skeletons, dinosaurs, rocks, and animals. The amount of drawings assigned is enough to drive you insane. A total waste of time; DVC Anthropology department should be ashamed of itself.
Dr, Johnson is a really nice professor, i dont ususally waste time to rate any professor on this site, but he's really great. Just finish the homework then you will get an A. Though a lot of homework. i dont like Anthropology at all, he really did a great job at teaching.
He is one of my favorite teachers, and I learned so much from him--especially the evolution LAW. I wish to take his class again.
Johnson babbles endlessly for the whole class time about absolutely nothing because he likes the sound of his own voice and he encourages ZERO student feedback or participation. This class is a joke and the professor treats it like one. He will also show a lot of boring and unrelated movies to avoid doing his job. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
His lectures could be attractive to some people, but his way of teaching was a little bit overwhelmed for me. I participated all classes, submitted all homework, and stayed in the classroom actively. Even though people say he is a easy grader, I think he doesn't care about each student and grade, just wants to talk about "Anthropology", not really.
Okay so first off, heavily caffeinate yourself before class if you're prone to falling asleep during long lectures. Albeit, he is very knowledgeable about what he teaches and his lectures are rich with information. Friendly and understanding. An easy grader as long as you put in minimal effort. I took a summer course and it was a breeze
Took during summer. I got a B but hes definitely an easy A. Lecture heavy no exaggeration when I say non stop talking. Nice guy good luck trying to ask him any questions while hes lecturing. Cheat sheet for midterm and final easy. A couple of homeworks easy. Just make sure you take every opportunity for points to get an A.
You dont have to come to class. All the exams are take home. Its an easy A class if you put effort in writing! Theres 4 take home exam throughout the semester and thats basically it.
He is an easy A professor. He teaches students in different ways. The most important thing for him to make the students understand about life and 'why we are here', connect it with our daily life. All the exams are a take home test where students can learn and grasp from his lecture. On the last day he will play a guitar and provide snacks for us!
funny and nice prof, last day was epic he played guitar for us and boom! he nailed it. all test are take home even the finals. just make sure to also DRAW not just WRITE. if you do that you'll get an A.
He is such a great professor. The way he talks makes everyone to be involved in his class. I enjoyed his class and as long as you do your work, you can easily get an A.
Lab is basically him lecturing for two hours, then working on packets - packets are due every two to three weeks. The class is a LOT of drawing and boring lectures but no tests or whatever. He only has a 5 minute, one on one conference for final where he sees your work/notes and tells you your grade. Not the greatest prof but an easy A
I took him for Anth140 for the spring semester. He really is passionate about his work, bringing some animals to school for students to learn truly. Even though he gives us a lot of paper, as long as you do your work with responsibility, you will safely get an A. But DO NOT TALK DURING HIS LECTURES. He is amazing and so generous.
The only assignments he gave were 3 take home tests. No homework or papers. He rambles for the entire lecture so you barely learn anything, no reading assignments until the tests which is when you spend the whole time with the book open. Scary way to run a class b/c you dont know where you stand til the end. Very nice and passionate guy though.
Johnson's is an easy teacher bad thing is he talks a lot during lecture but his take home test aren't too bad especially the take home final. It was rare when he took attendance but he seems knowledgeable on the subject. He doesn't like it when he's talking is the only bad thing besides him talking a lot. He plays his mixtape at the end*Fire emoji*
No words can describe him fully. He is so passionate about his work. As you will notice during his lecture he always prepare some examples that are related to his lecture. And it helps you so much for understanding everyday lessons. DEFINITELY THE MOST PASSIONATE PROFESSOR AT DVC
The only upside to this professor is that its n easy A. his final and "tests" are all take home (during summer session) however, there is a lot of drawing (and if u cant draw or put in effort goodluck) HE GOES OFFTOPIC ALOT so its hard to follow along and understand him. if u don't care to actually learn go for it easy A gives extra cred save notes
I took a 3-hour class with him. He literally talked for 2 hours and the last hour let you work in the lab and that was not a lot of time, however, he moves the due date for labs a lot and changes the packets a lot.
Steve is super chill, very laid back teacher. There are 4 take home tests in the class, as long as you show effort and illustrate all the details, you are bound to get an A. His lectures are really dry, but you can always do other work in his class. Recommended for any student who wants an easy A and are not in the science field. Lowkey a GOAT.
Honestly, if you're swamped with heavier classes this is the class to take. The professor is very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. You have 4 assignments the entire semester tops. They are all take home and he will almost always push back turn in dates. Tons of videos, lectures seem uncessasary and you never get to participate/ask ??
Get ready for your drawing and writing class. This is not an anthro class more like a class where you practice to have good handwriting until your hands get sore.
I took his class last semester and he gives very much assignments that i don't believe to be worth the credit of the class. He requires us to work very hard yet i don't understand how he grades our papers and what our scores based on.
Easiest A of your life. If your just trying to transfer than take this man right here! He's also very funny and gives you a ton of extra credit. you even get an opportunity to go to the zoo for extra credit points. Take him now while you can The class is easy enough to take in the Summer as well. Tell your friends!
He talks about nothing of importance every single class. Between newts he finds in his backyard, his snake stumpy and who won the Super Bowl, I didnt even bother buying the textbooks because we didnt EVER use them for reference, reading in class, or homework. For the whole semester, we had TWO homework assignments and our final was a take home.
I consider myself to be somewhat easily entertained. Before enrolling in this class, boredom only came from waiting rooms and not having phone service. But anthr115 with Johnson was unbearable. Imagine someone talking to you about a show you dont watch for 1.5 hours. Thats this class.
He claims to grade off of "comparison" to the rest of the students in the class, no rubric or guidelines whatsoever, so basically your grade just depends on his mood when he's grading your take home test. Wouldn't recommend if you like organized and clear lectures/ grading. Also, it's super boring and you learn absolutely nothing.
I took this as a GE class, and it was an easy A. He hardly assigns homework, we had two take home midterms and one take home final. Be sure to draw a lot of pictures on your tests because he seems to be more lenient if you "illuminate" your answers with illustrations. If this is part of your major, maybe don't take him. I didn't learn much from him
This class requires alot of drawing and writing, lectures are really boring but attendance is mandatory it's a big part of your grade. Show up to class and do our work you will pass with an A!
HE TALKS A LOT!!!!!!!! THE GUY SITTING NEXT TO ME IS ASLEEP AS I"M TYPING THIS!! I"M SERIOUS!!!!
OFTEN HAVE A POP QUIZ AT THE END OF CLASS. The lecture is hella boring. I can't even describe how boring it is. He just keeps on talking non-stop for 3 hours with a small break in between. Ugh.
a lot of homework
Nice guy, terrible teacher. Expect to only learn as you do the literal three assignments for the semester. Rambles on about anything but the class. Discussed covid to giving a brief history of the allman bros to talking about jlo at the super bowl in one class. Never used textbooks, got info online but they might help. Entertaining not educational
Dont take him if you are not willing to come to lecture and listen/ take notes
Prof Johnson make sure that everyone who wants a good grade can get it. I took this online only class during summer. The three papers were extensive but if you pay attention and do a little research, everything is there for you to succeed. Make sure you start the papers early so you have the time to complete them. He is very responsive to emails
I took his summer class, it was very easy overall but heavy lectures. Id recommend his class as he is nice and has few assignments!
Pretty cool teacher, we have like 5 papers the entire semester that make up the entire grade. If you put in a good amount of work and follow the criteria on each assignment you're almost guaranteed an A.
The quizzes are terrible. I did everything that he required us to do for quizzes and there were still names that I never even heard of before. The tests are too hard, its for people who live and breathe this stuff. For the regular student, its next to impossible to actually learn the material and get a good grade in this class. Dont take this class
I really liked him. He only had a total of 5 assignments including quizzes this whole semester. His assignments were relatively easy. Since I took him online, attendance wasn't mandatory. His tests weren't too easy, you have to study a bit. Overall, good teacher! And fun topic. He's also very nice and caring. Take him!!!
Professor Johnson is great, he is very passionate about what he does and loves his students. I took him in person and he'd play movies for us and have PowerPoints. Take notes and you'll be good. There's no tests, occasional quizzes, participation, and only 5 homeworks. All you have to do is fill out 10 page packets, draw and label certain animals!!
I took him online and it was basically a repeat of his 140 class. This is the easiest A you will ever get, he gives you around 1 month to turn in an assignment. Only graded on 5 packets that you have to scan and turn in. No zoom meetings are required or tests/quizzes to do. If you need an easy class to take with a heavy courseload, this is the one!
I took Mr Johnsons online anthro 115 class, and I loved it. He is extremely passionate and Knowledgable on the subject, and his lectures reflect that. They are actually interesting to watch. Id say the class is pretty easy as long as you learn the material. Its pretty unstructured, You have 2 detailed papers to do as well as quizzes and tests.
He is really nice and understanding when you need an extension for valid reasons. However, his lectures are a little scattered and grading is highly influenced by the tests because there are not many assignments. The tests were simple if you keep up with the reading and watch every linked video but they are mainly true/false.
Professor Johnson spends a lot of class time going off on tangents that aren't even related to class. It's a relatively easy class if you use the resources he posts on Canvas or learn on your own instead of showing up to his lectures. Workload is fairly light up until the last minute, where he assigns the most random, massive written assignment.
Dr. Steve Johnson is a great professor who knows the ins and outs of the biological/anthro world. Class attendance isn't mandatory, I recommend going because he's a really interesting guy. Don't get lazy and remember to study and ask questions. There's almost nothing he cant answer.
You take 4 online quizes and have a lengthy written final. Do well on the quizes throughout the year and grind your final and you will get an A
I took this course in 1987. I like anthropology so had a bias in being very interested. I got a lot out of his course that helped later in a career in Healthcare. His focus on objectivity and in removing "personal" thinking from scientific/critical studies was my foundation starting out and is part of my MO in practice today.
He was great; I had a family tragedy. He was very understanding; he let me turn my assignment late! with zero penalties.
Really sweet professor! Lecture heavy but has lots of knowledge. His final assignment was a lot so make sure not to procrastinate because it will take you more than the night before to finish it. If you are an art student then you will like the last assignment. I learned a lot from this professor and I am glad I took his class.
