So here's the deal with Keller. He teaches honors chemistry so he's used to being a harder teacher. He's a really nice guy and very enthusiastic about the class, but the tests are not what you would expect from an entry level course. Keller loves essay questions and seeing how you think. This class is tough, so no cutting corners with Keller.

Professor Keller is obviously very enthusiastic & knowledgable about chemistry, but his teaching style is one you should avoid. Keller is honestly the worst professor I've ever had. It's like he wants us to fail. He gives us no time to study for exams, is not helpful when asking questions, and will quite literally laugh at you when handing back an exam if you don't do good (happened to me this year). Do not take this professor for chem. He is passionate but his lectures are almost impossible to follow, his system of note taking isn't helpful, there are exams every 2 weeks it feels like and no matter how hard I study I always did poorly on exams. I would not recommend this class to anyone.

I hate chemistry and wouldnt take again. Keller was NOT the worst but this class required heavy outside of class work load that often became unmanageable

Keller is a great professor. The homework you can complete till you get a 100%, and the tests are not very difficult. They are mostly word problems which use the same exact formulas mentioned in the lectures and practice exams. I didn't study too much and still ended with an A+ despite never having experience with anything past the first two weeks.

There are a lot of bad reviews on keller but truthfully he is a great professor. his class is not that hard and he even adds extra points for the many people who complain and do poorly. If you listen in lecture, do the ALEKS, and put some preparation in for the exams you will be fine. Some people aren't prepared to actually have to do work

He should not be nicknamed "killer Keller"... he is kind, caring, and at the end of the day just wants you to be able to learn. Haters just don't like him because chemistry is a difficult subject and he is just the one who teaches it sometimes.

This class is extremely difficult and the tests make up a huge portion of your grade. The practice tests are a joke and the lectures are hard to follow. The homework takes hours to complete and has nothing to do with what you learn in lecture or on the test. Take Ganley if you can.

Dr. Keller is such an awesome professor and is super passionate about chem. My advice is to read the textbook information before lecture and then after lecture go to Dr. Keller's office hours with any underlying questions you have. If you just try in this class and study you will do great and don't be afraid to get extra help if you need it!

Absolutely one of the worst professors at Mizzou hands down. Unfortunately he's a very kinda man and I know he's intelligent but he is NOT a good teacher and can not clearly communicate ideas and almost never has his lectures be helpful for his exams.

Do not take a class with Keller. I promise you are better off waiting a semester if needed and changing your schedule around to avoid having him. He gives you practice exams you can understand then makes the entirety of the actual exam a trick question compared to it. You will at least one question on the real exam you've never seen before.

I took this class last semester and was scared because all that I have heard. I am now in orgo and Dr. Keller set me up extremely well. If you are wanting to go on and take much harder science classes, Dr. Keller gives an amazing chemistry foundation. I can see how people think he is hard, but hard work pays off! Also go to office hours.

I had Keller for Chem 1 and 2; his class is hard but not impossible. The effort I had to put in to earn a good grade set me up for success in future courses. Go to office hours and lecture!!! On the practice exams, make sure you understand why an answer is correct. Use the learning center!! Keller picks the tutors he feels are best for the job!!

He is awful, I went to 4 different tutors for what was supposed to be a Chem 1 class. But in those meetings they informed me, They didn't know how to help, and that I needed a bio chem tutor instead. No student should have to feel the way they do in Kellers class. Please take my suggestion and get a different professor you will thank me later.

Everyone says this class is so hard and Keller is a super tough grader. To be honest if you pay attention to what he says in lectures and actually show up, its not that bad at all. You have to study and actually put effort in, but it is possible to end with an A.

Dr Steve Keller is so over hated, likely because chemistry is the only stem class many people have to take and is a very difficult subject. He is a deeply passionate professor and extremely accessible out of class. The ALEKS homework is brutal but is the only way to guarantee success. If you don't do the work the right way you will not pass.

Genuinely if there is any way to NOT take this guy please do. Taking this course is like paying to teach yourself. The lectures and studying for his test is like putting together a puzzle, you are constantly guessing what is going to be on the test. He rambles on and on and dances around topics without ever fully covering them.

You know that surfer dude vine where nothing mad enay sense? that exactly what having a class with keller is like. He is one of the most interesting people I have ever met in the worst way possible, he cannot answer a question, stay on task, or teach. It is honestly shocking he is still employed by the university. Even his own TAs hate him.
