Steve rocks! he is so awesome, he is a very funny guy, and explains the stuff so that us students are able to understand. Totally recommend him to anyone. just make sure that you keep up with the homework and you'll love him too!

Very easy instructor. Keep up with the homework - its exactly like the tests. DO NOT take him if you are a chem major, or have to take Chem 2 however. He falls too far behind due to story telling, and you miss alot of material as a result. Great if you don't really need to learn chem.

Dr.Kirschner is extremely well qualified to teach the subject of organic chemistry.Although the course is by nature rigorous, he explains concepts in a clear and entertaining manner and is extremely helpful in answering questions. Overall: Recommend

This has to be the most awesome teacher at ACC. I loved having Steve as my chem. teacher. He teaches well and can explain things so that everybody can understand. He always has great stories to tell and makes the class fun. Take him, you WON'T regret it! He's fantastic!!!!

I LOVED Dr. K!! Funny, capable, and nice. I looked forward to his class every day, tho I've never liked Chem before. He explains everything in a way that makes it easy to understand. Tests are exactly like homework. Allows test re-takes. Final is a take-home test. Bonus points available. He does fall behind the lab but eventually covers everything.

He is helarious and very nice. He knows what he is talking about and explains thing well. He gave 10 unit exams 10 questions long that are very straight forward and he will review for them. Its like taking a comedian for a professor, he is very pleasant and actually makes the subject interesting. He is good for a summer short session.

He is such a hilarious guy, his analogies are helpful in learning the material. u get a HW once a week the points on those works are very helpful to you passing the class and the exams are composed of a good 10q which are quite simple since he teaches soo very well he does not teach lab though, I hope you dont get stuck with Bearden as a lab prof.

Dr Kirschner is an excellent teacher. He makes the class really easy and understandable. However, if your major is chemistry, do not take him because you are not going to learn what real chemistry is.

Man he is sooo easy! if you want an easy A in chemistry.. and don't really care about getting the education of it.. take Dr. Kirschner..and he's pretty funny too.. I had him for Summer 1 2008 along w/ 3 other classes and still managed to pull out an A!! take my word for it!!

Easiest chemistry class i couldve ever imagined. He handwrites all his tests, and they are short answer type - no multiple choice - which i think is great. He wants everyone to get an A and there is no reason not to. Been around for quite some time. Very funny man, though he repeats his jokes quite often and that can get awkward. Didnt learn much.

Couldn't ask for an easier class. If you just need a science credit and don't care to learn all the info thoroughly, take him. Tells lots of jokes and stories. Usually groaners, but laugh anyway. Two tries on exams, higher grade counts. Take-home tests occasionally. Attendance not required (he doesn't know your name), but helps to go. Very cool

Class is very easy, the tests are even easier plus there is a retake test. The attendance is not mandatory but it is helpful to be at the lectures as that material is on tests. Tells a lot of stories and jokes - sometimes too many. Nice. Easy A.

It is a very easy class, very east tests becasue the professor basically tells you what to expect on the test. Chemistry seems easy after he explains things, however I am not sure whether you actually learn as everything seesm too easy. Main drawback-30-40% of time spends on tlaking about irrelevent stuff that has nothing to do with the chemistry.

Doesn't matter which class you take from this guy, he makes Chemistry extremely easy to understand and is actually really funny. The entire class will be laughing during lecture from his stories. TAKE HIM.

Very easy going class, easy A...you have to try to get anything lower than a B, but if you plan on taking more chem, he wont prepare you very well for more advanced study. He tends to get off subject a lot with funny stories and is late a lot of the time. Nice guy, easy class, but wont get much out of it.

Yes he does show up late and answer his phone in class (he LOVES his daughter which is really cute), BUT he is a STRONG Chem prof! He makes it fun, entertaining and easy. Tests are very fair. It is difficult to get anything other than an A. Chem actually made sense to me after his class. Highly recommended prof! He's a stud muffin, too :)

everything the previous commenter said is 100 percent true. Looks like the penguin. He gets off subject ALOT but then he piles two or three test at the end to catch up which was annoying. He gives you MORE than enough points to get an A. Let us out early for lab. does a lot of blah blah blah stories. test are like 10 questions long and EASY!

Awesome. He's a great storyteller, ask him about the time he found a beaker and almost blew up his alma mater. If you go to class, take notes, study a moderate amount and ask questions, you will get an A. If I lived close to Riverside I would drop into his class daily just to hear his stories. 5/5

Quite a character. Best chemistry professor ever. Trust him to help you through a difficult subject. Has worked with Nobel laureates yet prefers to teach chemistry to people who don't know chemistry yet. You'll be lucky to get him -- his classes are some of the quickest to fill. Highly recommended!

took him for chem I, didn't really need to pay attention since its basically everything i learned from hs. took him again for chem II, i learned SO MUCH. he's literally a genius. never looks at his notes,all from the top of his head.tells you exactly what to study for on the test, &your always capable of retaking the test as well! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

This is one of those situations where paying a tenured professor who has been with ACC since opening in 1972 a 6-figure salary is an example of the system actually working. Professor Kirschner is the best. His lectures were crystal clear,and his stories were hilarious. Our summer class had a 0% attrition rate-- it was full to the very end.

He is perhaps THE best instructor I ever had. I'm a learner who does poorly with rote memorization--I need conext. The way he taught made the subject come to life in a fascinating and clear way and, for the firt time, it all make sense and was easy! The mastery I finally achieved in this class made later classes I took easier too. Love this man!!!!

If you just need to get thru Intro, he's your ace. If you actually need to get thru ChemII/Org, you could do better for yourself. He'll teach you the bare bones, and slipshoddy at that. Class is 1/4 lecture, 3/4 stories. You're paying for an A and entertainment with a little chem trivia.

Prof Kirschner has been teaching so long he really breaks things down to the fundamentals of what students need to know and teaches it in a concise way. I had a lot of trouble with nomenclature in chem I. After Kirschner explained it once I had it down. He makes it easy to pass, so if you're gonig on to other chem courses do the HW.

He is HILARIOUS, he does break down info to the fundamentals and makes learning easy! He's def for the students who just need to knock out their Chem credits. I can't say enough good things about this man, his stories make the class!! I ENJOY coming to class

Funny guy. His stories will keep you entertained, but has a tendency to wander off topic. Also he doesn't make corrections on homework/tests so you don't know what you did wrong. Do your homework, study it and TAKE IN CLASS NOTES and you'll get a good grade. grade

took his gen chem2 and organic chem1, general chem2 is pretty easy, has 8 tests ,each one has retest. organic chem is harder, but if you read the package he give us and go thought review test, it is not too hard to get A, btw, his lab is easy too. like his lecture, very interesting.

Great professor who is interesting & tells lots of stories. Made an A! He really makes chemistry easy to understand and does it in his own way. We had 7 exams, all had a re-test if you weren't happy with your 1st grade. If you take notes, do the HW & show up to days with exam reviews, you will be fine!

I had heard from a few other students that Kirschner was (The Professor) to have for Chemistry. I'm so happy I took their advice. I really enjoy his lectureslabs and the way he helps you understand the material. He not only teaches Chem but he teaches life as well,you'll get it when you hear his lectures. Highly recommend him!

Easy A because he is cool about letting you retake tests without consequence. I wish more teachers were like that. I'm terrible at math and never have been much of a science person but Prof Kirschner was fun, told good stories that helped me remember material, and doesn't make you memorize formulas. All around awesome.

If you need credit for Chem, take him. I am terrible in this subject but passed this class with an A. He's extremely helpful and realistic in understanding students situations. He gives you the exact examples in class that will be on the test. He is quirky and hilarious which also keeps you from falling asleep like in other science classes.

Professor Kirschner makes chemistry so easy! I was horrible in this subject in high school but am passing this class with an A currently. Lots of extra credit, very helpful, tells you exactly what to expect on tests (some in testing center and some take-home), keeps lecture interesting, overall GREAT professor.

Possibly the best teacher I've ever had. His explanations are very easy to understand. He makes lectures fun by telling jokes and keeping students involved. He offers retests and plenty of practice in class plus goes over the homework. He starts the semester with plenty of background info and slowly leads into the more complicated material.

By far the BEST professor at ACC! I had no problems transferring Kirschner's Chem 2 to UT. Unlike other professors, he's not trying to screw and derail your transfer to university. I'm majoring Bio at UT. Kirschner is the best kept secret at ACC. Had I taken anyone else, I would not be where I am today. He prepared me well for my course load and got the A that I needed to transfer. I loved how he lets you retake tests and aim as high as you want. This man is a legend. Nobel prize winners, etc. You will learn. Take him!!!!!!

Amazing teacher. His lectures are hilarious and he is also very easy to understand. He makes Chemistry feel like a cakewalk. His tests are taken from homework problems. He even gives retests for every test, so you have a second chance if you don't do well the first time. His lectures are so clear you don't need the textbook.

Do all the relatively easy homework and your grades goes up a letter grade. Test retakes are a God send. Why did I ever suffer with other professors? Like wow Chem 1 was so so much harder with other profs for no reason. Sigh I should have known earlier. My fellow students, this guy fills up for a reason and one reason only. He's the best ACC has.

Better instruction than the University of Texas because the class is smaller and he actually reviews the homework before the exam in detail . He is very articulate in a technical subject. Professors like this come along once in a hundred years. He does not have multiple choice but instead grades the test by hand and looks at reasoning.

Great professor! Really made me like chemistry. He might not be the very best if you need chemistry down the line BUT you can always study the stuff yourself after you get your A. Funniest teacher I have ever had. He is super knowledgeable. He has worked with Nobel prize winners. Makes class super easy. Go to class. Do your homework (which is easy) Get an A. The test are taken directly from the homework. IF you get a bad grade you actively tried to do bad.

One of the best professors I've taken. It's been 2 years since I've taken chem 1 so I was nervous about this material but he is SO straight forward and gives you EXACTLY what will be on the exams. Took this AMAZING professor in the summer for Intro to Chemistry (he taught both 1105 and 1305). He made the course easy to understand and had many interesting and funny lectures that brought life to an otherwise boring class. I plan on taking him for Chem II and Organic Chem when the time comes.

He's a funny guy and his tests aren't too difficult, but he slacked during the first half of the semester and then crammed the last two tests in the last two weeks of class. He gives out 300 points of homework so you really have to be lazy to fail his class.

Lecture- Favorite! 10 tests-some are at home. Gives detailed reviews. Gives extra homework (200 points worth) so you may not have to do last test or final. Super funny! Lab- 14 labs, super easy reports (just numbers), a lab final that covers 4 previous labs. TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT AN EASY A AND YOU ACTUALLY LEARN EVERYTHING!

Show up to class and try and you will get an A. Lab and lecture are both super easy if you just put in the time. He also gives lots of opportunities for howework which adds to your grade (all hw assignments are short but worth lots of points more buffer if you have trouble with tests).

Amazing professor! If you don't need to actually KNOW chemistry and just need an easy A for a credit this is the class to take. The professor allows you to retake any and all tests with no penalty. There is no reason you should not get an A in this class. He is also the funniest person I have ever learned from.

I am at UT AUSTIN NOW!! I had a better time with Kirschner's Chem 2 vs some new professor for Chem 1 who enjoyed seeing the class fail. Why? Because Kirschner is a superior professor. Test retakes. He works out exact problems WITH THE CLASS and never throws you to the wolves. If you straight up studied exactly what was on the board :) Easy 90+.

Kirschner is a professor who loves what he does. Though he gets off topic often to tell stories, it would be nice to stay focused on the subject. But when he is lecturing, it is very easy to understand and to learn. His handwriting is hard to read and his labs are all hand written. You can retest to help your grade, do your work and youll pass!

Good professor does get off topic. Writes everything on board and handwriting is hard to read. Write everything down and do you work and you will be fine. Test can be retaken. Gives lots of extra credit.

Great professor I ever have in ACC! HW worth 200 points but he offers 300 points in total test worth 800 points; he offers test retake no quiz, no trick on the test, he will tell you what will be on the test he is a really funny guy! You will hear a lot of his stories! if you can, better take his lab, too. the lab is super easy! highly recommended!

Dr. K is AMAZING! If you are having anxiety about taking a science course he is the teacher for you. He works really well with his students and he always finds a way to explain things if you don't understand. He tells a lot of stories but I found that it helps when it comes to remembering the material. Best prof. ACC has!

I adore Kirschner. I'm taking intro chem. He writes everything on the board. He tells funny stories, which give your brain a minute to process what you wrote and provide comic relief. His tests are short and easy if you take notes and go over them. You won't need to crack a book. Take his lab, too. He's a lovely person. I hope he lives to 100!

This man makes it very apparent and clear cut what he's trying to teach you. He has a story for every occasion. Show up for class and the rest is easy. The notes he puts on the chalkboard are exactly whats on the test. His only downfall is that he has the handwriting of a 2nd grader. Aside from all of that he's an awesome professor to have!!

I took him for lab and he's really great. He doesn't require you to buy a lab manual and prints all the labs himself the day of. The lab reports are not complicated because he explains everything really clearly.

Yeah he jokes a lot but he's a really good professor. Explains everything very clear and is very helpful in your understanding of the material. His tests are a breeze if you pay attention in class and if you do then you don't need the book at all.

Extremely smart and hilarious professor. He writes on the board, so you will need to come to class to take notes. Missing out a class will really affect your understanding on the chapter. Test questions are similar to homework questions. Take good notes cause they will help you A LOT! Hardest part of this class was to understand his handwriting.

Very intricate professor. Has his good and bad days. He goes off of tangents a lot, so I was worried that we wouldn't get through all of the material, but sure enough we got through the semester just fine. A little inaccessible via email and during his office hours, but all in all a good professor.

Lectures and labs are lean, and the presentation is not esoteric. Kirschner is wildly intelligent but also very personable. The text can supplement, but I found online study aids more useful for the more complex material. His no BS approach is disarming and refreshing.

He is a great professor! I enjoyed his class a lot as well as his sense of humor. There was 10 tests for each chapter and lots of homework. His tests weren't too hard, as long as you come to class you'll be fine.

Professor Kirschner is my favorite ACC professor so far! He gives wonderful lectures that are both fun and informative. His teaching style is so brilliant because he knows just how to hold your attention. His stories were so funny and it made going to his class something to look forward to. I took 5 week online class. It was an easy A , his lecture was amazing, he only gave us the most important thing that you need to know (if your major is not chemistry). At the end, a lot of homework BUT they took me about 20mins to complete each section. Email him in the early morning and he will reply immediately! Good class for busy students!

Dr. Kirschner was amazing! Attendance was not required which was super helpful. I took his lab and lecture and it is easy breezy. Just make sure you pay attention, & take good notes. Only downfall for his class was that his syllabus was nonexistent so it felt a little unstructured.. Other than that, super nice guy! Easy A for both Lb & Lc

Professor Kirschner is an awesome professor and is very knowledgeable. He teaches chemistry in a way that you will understand and makes it easy for you. He did youtube lectures, 10 exams over each unit, 14 labs, 1 overall lab quiz, and homework for extra points. Overall an amazing professor.

Works really well with disabled students, I used distance learning and he was super patient and helpful with getting captioning figured out. His handwriting is a bit hard to read sometimes but he explains things very well. The tests are all very long and written, but we had a week to do them. This means you actually have to learn the material.

Prof Kirschner is great at making difficult concepts easy to understand. He truly cares about his students and if you are struggling will be more than happy to help. He gives lots of homework points opportunities to help boost your grade if you need it, and the homework isn't that difficult. If you have never taken a chem class before he is great.

Professor Kirschner was awesome! He takes a class that is usually feared by most students and breaks it down into very understandable concepts. Grades come entirely from pop quizzes and tests. He gives out a practice packet before every test that's similar to what you'll see on the actual test. I would definitely take another class from him!

took him for chem 2 and again this semester for OCHEM1. Takes a rigorous course and makes it less scary. You'll never fail to hear laughter coming out of his classroom, as he cracks many jokes to students. only thing is that he marks red "x"s on tests and quizzes and doesn't circle or write where you went wrong. pop quiz/exam make up grade.

He is a sweet guy, great stories, he presents the material and gives you guides. I was not learning the material well from him so I went to the tutor Courtney and she helped me see things in a different way. He made the class enjoyable and that helped with my test anxiety tremendously!

Dr. Kirschner takes a pretty wide range of hard concepts in Chem II and makes them enjoyable and relatively easy to learn. Unit tests at the end of each unit with partial credit, and HW is due often so make sure you go to class. His stories are some of the best and most hilarious from any professor.

Seriously, I could not have made it through this class without an outstanding professor like Dr. Kirschner! I was worried when I took Ochem 2 because it had been 2 yrs sense I took Ochem 1. Dr. Kirchner not only gave us detailed notes, but he explained the concepts very well in his lectures and had really funny stories that kept us engaged.

This was my fav class so far and I've been at acc for 2yrs. Kirschner is hilarious and his lectures are SO comprehendible. I barely had to study for his exams and constantly got 95+. If you turn in the hw every time he gives hw questions, you will get so much extra credit. All u have to do is show up, enjoy his jokes and stories, & turn in your hw!

I was intimidated to take Chem 2 because I never made it passed Chem 1. Dr. Kirschner made learning chem 2 easy and fun. His lectures are enjoyable, always keeping the class engaged. If you rely on powerpoints being uploaded to blackboard and skipping lecture, this class isnt for you. He is a good teacher and fair grader.

Steve Kirschner is a fantastic professor. He approaches education from a different angle than so many others, and he has really refreshing philosophies on what a professor should be. He wants you to learn. He wants you to succeed. Plus, he's hilarious. I can't express enough. Take his class! You can get past the handwriting, I promise.

Dr. Kirschner was phenomenal. I enjoyed coming to class every day and looked forward to learning chemistry, even when he told a lot of jokes. The way how he instructed the class was unique due to the fact he would share stories and make us giggle while actively learning. His handwriting was horrible, but other than that, I wish him great health!

Professor Kirschner makes chemistry engaging with his entertaining lectures and helpful teaching style. Assignments are manageable, and unstuck ai proved useful for exam prep. An overall great class to take.

Everything is written on the blackboard in class and nothing is uploaded online. Go to class and voice record the lecture! Take him if you feel like science is intimidating, because its not, you just need someone who's not barking things in your face to explain it to you! Short HW after lectures, 8 Exams + Retakes. Super funny! 100% take again!

Dr. Kirschner is awesome! Show up, put in effort, do the homework, and study and you'll have no problem passing this class. There is a lot of homework but it really helps your grade, so do EVERY homework assignment. Labs are easy and fun. He allows you to re-test's on exams. He is also hilarious! His stories are awesome! He made chemistry fun.

I strongly recommend Professor Kirschner for those who can attend classes regularly. He describes chemistry subjects as a coherent narrative--really engaging. Pros: exam retests, hilarious, material well-explained, care for students understanding material Cons: messy handwriting, tardy, no material on blackboard Overall, best professor I've had.

The best professor I have taken for chem! If you have doubts, DONT. Simple lectures, breaks down the material–his jokes and stories help make it easier to digest and process. exams are based on hw (which counts as extra credit so DO IT). Practice the hw problems and you'll ace the exams (he lets you retake them in case you happen to fail)

Easiest class I've taken. His exams are exactly like his homework that he assigns, can retake an exam if your not happy with your grade. His labs were super easy, no pre/post lab report. Just a quick report/data sheet and you turn it in at the end of lab. Did minimal studying and got an A. Highly recommend.

Dr. Kirschner is a good professor. No textbook needed as he'll cover everything in lecture. He assigns homework that mirrors the exam questions. Students retake exams to improve their score. He does share a lot of stories, but that's just him wanting to add levity to his lectures. It doesn't dissuade from his dedication to teaching. Would retake!

Dr. Kirschner is an amazing, caring professor who covers all necessary material. He allows test retakes with corrections and creates a welcoming, engaging class with stories. Grading is easy but lacks feedback. He encourages questions. Overall, a great professor I'd take him again!

Dr. Kirschner is truly the best prof I have ever had. He is "old school". Chalk and the board. He does not use any Blackboard or provide power points. You are responsible for taking your notes. He is very knowledgable about chem and loves his job. Very kind. I HIGHLY recommend his class.
