at first I didn't like him at all. He gives a redicilious amount of hw (most of it is optional, but he REALLY wants u to do it.) but he's actually a good teacher.
This is not an easy class and if you don't want to do work don't take him. If you do the work, come to class, and pay attention you will have no problem. He is always willing to help and will go the extra mile to help you out. If you are an accounting major i would definitely take him since you learn and could get a good grade.
Great professor.Hard course. Expects alot but makes class interesting. Goes around room asking questions and talking students as a teaching method. He forces you to really learn material. Tests very challenging but fair. Be ready for LOTS of work but lots of learning too. Interesting guy. Attendance policy: If you don't go, you're screwed
Great Professor. Will give you as much help as you need if you are willing to put in the effort. Definitely take if you like teachers who are like to see their students perform well.
He is extremely helpful. This is not an easy class by any means but he makes it very understandable. He spends a tremendous amount of his own time preparing wonderful study materials for the class such as outlines, his own powerpoints, & practice problems. It is a class where you have to do work but he makes it very doable! Definitely take him!
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! He is without a doubt the best professor I've ever had at MSU and I'm a senior. I hated ACCT 201 and almost failed but Markoff makes it very interesting! He makes the concepts extremely easy to understand and offers more out-of-classroom help than all of my college professors combined. He is also very energetic all the time!
He's fun. He's genuine. The info is deep but this Prof can really teach. He makes it easy to grasp in a short amt of time. If you're about learning take this Prof. Do what he says & you'll do well. Would I take this Prof again? Yes.
Best prof I've had so far @MSU. I worked harder for this guy then anyone else but it pays off. Very demanding. Must take if you are concentrating in acct. Most valuable learning experience I have ever had
He looks like Robbin Williams! lol. Funny guy but didn't learn a damn thing. He tries really hard and taking clear notes in his class is near impossible cuz he's all over the board. There is no reason to fail this class because there is a lot of work so there is always some way to make up for missing/bad grades. Take him if your an acct major.
This man was one of the BEST teachers i had at MSU, he doesn't work for the $$ he works b/c he truly loves his job. He really wants to help & really wants you to understand. Theres ALWAYS ways to get some xtra credit. Hes funny if u get his sense of humor & he makes the class interesting & puts things in layman's terms for you to easily understand
Such a nice, personable professor. Truely wants everyone to do well in class. Extra credit and help is always available outside of class. Class is very hard and alot of work...hardly any1 is going to get an A. Kind of too many chapters but he is passionate about the subject and gets you interested. Take him if you want to learn
I learned more in this class than I expected. While there _is_ a high volume of work, Professor Markoff is top notch. The assignments given for homework are all gone over in full during class and are exact replicas of what is on the test. He's a very interesting and very funny guy... I'm taking him again for 307 in the spring. Take him!
I can't believe how much information this man was able to cram into my head in such a short period of time. TONS of work & very hard tests but he will do everything he can to help and he is absolutely the best instructor I've ever had. His questions take getting used to but they really help you to understand the material, well worth the effort.
He is absolutely the hardest and most caring professor I have encountered in my college career. He is definitely not easy and gives a ton of work but it is worth it in the end because you know the material very well. He is very clear with what he expects from you and if you work hard you will definitely get the grade you deserve.Amazing professor
Great professor. Extremely knowledgeable and interesting. Class is never boring. Extremely tough and a ton of work all of which was worth it in the end - I was amazed at how much I learned - more than all of my other MBA classes combined at MSU. Teaching style was annoying at first but he turned out to be an absolutely brilliant and gifted teacher. Only knock is that his tests can be really long and hard, but you actually learn from them too and they are graded fairly. Highly recommend.
I have taken this professor for both 201 and 202 and got A's in both. He assignes a good deal of work and expects you to work hard, and if you do he will reward you accordingly. Gives lots of extra credit and case optional case study problems to help your grade. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU PLAN TO JUST "GET THOUGH" CAUSE YOU WON'T.
GOOD LUCK if your taking markoff....loads of work.....some say it isnt hard but you really cant slack off!.....no book necessary!.....best of luck again if your stuck with him
Markoff is a great and inspirational man. If you are an Accounting major, you should def take his class, he will teach you everything you need to know. If you are a non-accting business major, avoid at all possibilities as he gives a ton of daily assignments out of class, gives crazy exams and will drive you insane. he is great at what he does
The best of the best. Take him, You will work hard, but be inspired to work even harder. He was born to teach.
Best. Professor. Ever. He has such passion for what he teaches. I'm not an accounting major and honestly did not mind learning it. He definitely makes you work for your grade, but its totally worth it. Take him. You won't regret it.
Avoid this professor at all costs. He's all over the place, tons of hw withtout going over the material. His tests are selfmade and they are wrong. He has no respect for students when taking tests (he doesn't stop talking and distracting you) People who took him before were also upset with his teaching this semester. Avoif him, take my advice!
Hands down the best professor in MSU. He does give a good load of work, but it is manageable and relevant. All of his tests are fair, and he gives intense review sessions. Unlike other professors, he doesn't throw any uncovered material on the exam. Teaching is his true passion. He is not for slackers, and he will reward hard working students.
I never had Prof. Markoff, but truly a great guy. Very passionate and willing to help in anything possible. I wish I had him and also great advise giver. Don't miss your chance PLEASE TAKE HIMM!!!!!!!
Fair tests? This is the only person saying this. His tests are horrible. He has a passion for teaching that's true but tries to cover too many things at once. Take him if that is your only choice. His homework is hard and long like having projects due every week and then at the test it is something completely different. Avoid him
Class resembles cost boot camp. High amount of required work and readings. You will have to make time for it almost every day. He's scary at first but the skills he teaches are what you really need at next level - I can say as I've been in workforce. You may not want to hear the answer but you'll find out in this course how tough and ready you REALLY are. Very difficult but EXCELLENT course.
Hardest class I ever took. Most I ever learned. Excellent teacher, but you have to want to learn. Prepares you for the real world. He is one of the best teachers I ever had.
he's such an AMAZING professor! Definitely take him if you can - especially if you're an accounting major! DO THE HOMEWORK, ALL of the homework, even if you do it wrong, it helps SO much. He explains everything until everyone understands it too. He cares so much about his students! Great guy
Professor Markoff is the bestest, toughest, and jovial professor in the school! he makes learning a fun! his exams are Hard but very helpful. I love his way of teaching. I am taking him again for Cost acccounting in this Fall. If you are Acc majors do take him!
Markoff is a good Professor. You definitely learn alot in his class and through the assignments. Nonetheless, you must be prepared to volunteer, as he expects everybody to participate in the discussion. Also, be sure to constantly pay attention, because he'll notice if you're not. It's not the easiest test, but you definitely learn.
He is though but great...I learned a lot from this class...lots of hw tho.
A lot of hw that's very difficult. Depending on the way you learn, it can be extremely challenging. nice guy but makes things 10x more complicated than they should be. homework is on stuff you never learned yet and gets you discouraged. tells you to read the book but doesn't follow it, expects you to know things you never even heard before.
Professor Markoff is one of a kind. Though is homework assignments and exams seem purposefully tricky as if he wants you to learn by failure, he genuinely cares about his students. Had I taken another professor I would have gotten the A I usually get, that being said, I learned more from him than from any professor I have had thus far.
all in all, he's adequate. i did learn quite a bit of stuff i probably wouldn't have learned with another professor but prepare for one of the hardest and most challenging course you'll ever take at msu.
He is one of the best professors at MSU. He does give A LOT of homework but if acct is your major you would be doing urself a disservice by not taking him. He teachers u to understand concepts so the application part is easy. He makes a boring subject super interesting. I wish I could take him for all my Acct classes.
I am an A student and got a B in this class. Put in a great amount of effort, wasn't a fan of the teaching style. Hours of hw and a few case studies that are tedious. I enjoy learning and being challened academically but this class was a little ridiculous. Only take if all other acct courses are closed.
Prof. Markoff is an excellent teacher. He has a ton of energy and likes to tell jokes. He explains the material very well and is always available for extra help if needed. He truly wants his students to succeed but expects them to work very hard along the way. One of the best professors I've had yet by far. You will learn a lot in this class.
HE'S A NICE PROFESSOR, CALLS EVERYBODY BY THEIR LAST NAME, BUT THE WORK IS EXTREMELY HARD!! TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU DON'T HAVE A LIFE OR ONLY HAVE HIS CLASS. GOOD LUCK! I WILL NOT RECOMMEND HIS CLASS!
I totally respect him. By far most difficult Acct prof at MSU but also by far the best and actually cares about you and making sure you understand the material. He is a lot of work and very difficult but if you put in the effort you can do well. He will challenge you and make you think beyond the scope of textbook and give you strong understanding.
Attendance isnt mandatory but if you miss one class you miss alot. If you do the homework, participate, do the study guides and really try you will be fine. if you actually want to learn hes a great professor but if you're looking for an easy A then take someone else. I however didnt like how he talked down to kids not doing well. demeaning isnt ok
Awesome professor. He truly cares about his students. Attendance not mandatory but you will miss a lot if you miss a day. He totally rocks!!!!
I took him a couple of years ago. I can tell you now, looking back, his class was great as preparation to take CPA exams. I am now a CPA. If you take a class because it's easy, that will not help you in the long run. Do yourself a favor – if you are serious about accounting, take his class.
Get ready to push yourself harder than you ever did before. Must be prepared or don't bother showing up. Also covers almost whole book so u cannot miss a class or forget it you will never catch up. Give the course the respect it deserves and you will learn an incredible amount and you will really learn to think critically and solve problems. Incredible experience if you r serious and willing to work.
He is really just simply the best. I didn't work as hard as I should have and ended up getting crushed and got a C but I learned alot about accounting and life. He goes around room calling on people randomly so you better be prepared unless you want to look stupid. Do the work and give his class the respect it deserves and it will pay off.
He is a nice guy, and definitely knows his stuff. However, his style of teaching just doesn't work for me. You have to do the homework before you cover the material, so if you do it wrong it gets stuck in your head. He only grades the homework for completion, not accuracy.
I hate his teaching style! Homework is due before you even go over the chapter! Calls on people randomly! He is a negative professor! He claims his tests are harder than the CPA exam and says that nobody has ever gotten 100% on any of his tests. Thinks this is the only class we have time for! DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Do you care about your GPA? if you do DO NOT take him. His teaching method is obscure and all over the place. He makes you do the homework before even going over the material which sucks because you do not know if yo are even doing it right or wrong. Took him Spring semester and barely passed. Do yourself a favor and do not take him!!!!!
Best accounting professor at MSU. His enthusiasm about cost accounting is contagious. No dull power points based lectures. There is a decent amount of homework that needs to be completed for each class, so be prepared to put in time for this class. His blackboard is set up like I’ve never seen before. He cares and it shows.
Seems like he actually cares. He'll discuss real world experience/applications which I liked. His HW is a BIT excessive. Just do your best on the HW and don't get discouraged (it's not graded). He'll post HW solutions, so make sure you go over all of them! Write a good cheat sheet for the exam. Read the text twice if you have to (it's not much).
In one word.. It's ridiculous.. I hated it
Extremely passionate and knowledgeable professor. The problem is he doesn't know how to translate his thoughts properly and makes topics harder than what they really are. He makes you jump from 1 - 10 before getting to 2. Exams are extremely lenghty so make sure you study from HW assignments. His lectures are confusing and very disorganized.
Professor Markoff is not a joke.. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Make sure you understand it and REVIEW it immediately after class. He's a great guy and you learn a lot, just be prepared to work hard.
lots of work. he gives you hw and you have to complete it without knowing how to do it. do not take him unless you are only taking his class.
Awesome guy. Not an easy class but if you put the work in he is actually the nicest guy and you will know everything you need to about accounting.
Very helpful! If you show you are interested he will stand by you no matter what. Thanks professor Markoff
By far the best professor I've ever had since 1st grade. He made cost accounting my favorite portion of the accounting subject. Wish he taught more accounting courses. I consider doing well in his class is the threshold to wether you will make it or not. WORK HARD
Homework: Answer questions on the topic BEFORE the topic has been taught. Class Lecture: Go over the homework. Exams: Tough if you didn't understand the homeworklecture. Review the homeworklecture after class and ASK FOR HELP. GO TO HIS OFFICE! MUST take HIS 202 class to fully understand HIS 307 cost class. You will pass if you try and work hard!
Awesome professor, very challenging but you will learn so much. Great guy and will stand by you so long as you put the effort in. The most rewarding class I have taken in my academic career. Markoff is a very knowledgeable and experienced member of the accounting profession. His lectures are serious but also fun, take this class with an open mind.
Great professor I would recommend you take his class. He will push you to be better.
Best professor at Montclair state. His class is difficult but not because he can't teach, it's because the material is fundamentally difficult. If you had to take one professor at this school take him. He works harder than any other teacher that i've ever had.
Professor Markoff is the best professor I've ever had. I took this as a summer course and I can honestly say I will miss going to this class three times a week. Don't be intimidated by how tough he is. He asks a lot of you, but he puts in so much more. Take this class, work your butt off and you won't regret it.
Class was the most hardest Ive taken at any college. Prof. Markoff has a different teaching style and he assigns the homework a day early which means that he expects you to know the material before class. Very informative but challenging course. Advice for transfer students: If possible, retake Managerial Acct with him so u can know what to expect.
One of the best professors at MSU. Hard class but an A is not impossible to attain. No classroom reading but you are expected to read the material on your time. If you read the material, do all the homework and pay attention in class then you will pass. If you don't, you will fail. Show effort and he is willing to help you.
Great and helpful professor. Exams are rigorous but the material is understandable. I know the reason why it is hard for many people, here it is: most teach you that A + B C. Markoff teaches ?? + B C. It throws off people who memorize and is why he emphasizes to know "the why."
I love the way Professor Markoff teaches. Yes, there is a lot of work but I learned the most in this class than in any other class. Extremely helpful.
Markoff is probably the best professor I've had in college. He really tries for you to understand the concept rather than memorize it. You HAVE to do the hw or you will be lost, since he teaches off of the hw he assigns. He takes notice of who does it, which may help you in the long run. Tests are somewhat tough, so study the homework and terms.
Great professor. One of the best educators I have ever met. Do what he says and you will get the grade you want.
He's not easy. There's no way around the work. You actually need to know what you're doing and you need to pay attention or you're screwed. Read the material, do the homework, read it again and re-do the homework - only way to pass. Go to office hours for help (he takes it into consideration). He's a great professor if you put effort into his class
Professor Markoff is by far the most dedicated professor I have had in my educational career at MSU. He holds his students to high standards and truly cares about their success- both in and out of the classroom. Yes, he overloads his students with homework and yes, his tests are hard. However, he does his best to help you really LEARN not memorize.
The most knowledgeable accounting professor that exists at MSU. He makes his class very challenging, nonetheless you should expect that in the real world. He teaches you how to work from every single direction in order to solve a problem. Tests are lengthy, time management skills are necessary. PUT THE EFFORT IN HIS CLASS AND YOU WONT REGRETT IT!
Genuinely cares about his students. If you're someone that just wants to get their degree and get out of school, this isn't the professor for you. He teaches to prepare you for the CPA exam to be a knowledgeable accountant. Attend all of his lectures, do all of the assignments, and redo them, especially the parts you didn't understand.
My favorite professor. You will have to work hard in this class, but no harder than you should expect to work as a future accountant. Do your homework, pay attention in class, and redo your homework before each exam and get a deep understanding of the concepts. An "A range" shouldn't be hard if you put in the effort!
He loves to send random emails. You need the book, but he uses older versions so you can find them for cheap. Beware he calls on everyone for the answers. You get homework every class. Has a lisp. Test are hard he gives no study or and review. Ultimately he is the reason why i changed my major from accounting to business, he "preys" on the weak.
Gives homework every class & you have to teach yourself the work based off the reading. He goes over it in class and expects you to know what youre doing. Tests are not really like the homework or his outlines, you have to think outside of the box. I wouldnt take him again. His teaching style is just not for me. P.S. he loves chairs and lemonade
Wow! Markoff is honestly one of the best professors at MSU! He really cares about his students and wants them to learn. He's the make it or break it point. If you can do well in Markoff's, you'll be good down the road. He's probably the hardest professor I've ever had. I would honestly take him again because you actually learn in his class.
Markoff is honestly one of the most caring & knowledgable professors at MSU. Yes, his class is challenging, but he is only trying to prepare students for the outside world. Go to class, and be focused and ready to learn. Put time and effort into the homework and redo them to study for exams. You'll learn more than you expect if you put in the work
It's a difficult class. The exams are tricky but the bottom line is to show effort by doing HW and not missing class. Pro. Markoff is a fair grader and he wants to see eveyone succeed. He is my favorite prof. and the only class I learned the most from. To me he's a legend . I love how he's so funny as well. Makes accounting interesting.
Markoff, Markoff, Markoff. You accounting students for sure will hear his name. Not a bad guy at all. He just wants you to learn, not wing it. Take responsibility and your fine. Do your homework, every single one, review for tests and use all his extra resources. If done, no chance of failing. I love professor Markoff, the experience is unexpected.
Professor Markoff's class was the most challenging class I have ever taken. He makes his own homework and exams which are very lengthy. However this was the most rewarding class I have taken. I learned more than I ever have about life and accounting. He's tough, but worth it. He really cares about the students learning the material. And he's funny.
BEST PROFESSOR I have ever had the privilege to have . Extremely hard exams that are almost impossible to pass. Be prepared for the long hours of hw. He is so funny. His style isn't for everyone but this to me is the ONE CLASS THAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO TAKE AND UNDERSTAND. I appreciate his energy and effort. He walks in ready to teach every class.
Quite possibly the best teacher at Montclair state. Pay attention, do the homework and work hard.
Markoff's class is LITERALLY! the only class that taught me something in my college career. Instead of just studying quizlit, you have to really work very hard in this class. The homeworks are very lengthy but if you know exactly how to do it You past the test with no prob, Dont try and copy previous test from years before, he CHANGED EVERYTHING
Completely fair. Not a "tough grader"- If you don't study and do the work that's on you. Would I avoid him? Yes. Would I take him again? No way.
Professor Markoff's teaching is different from what I am use to. He doesn't teach from slides or a powerpoint, rather he teaches you from the homework he gives. He gives lots of homework. If you wanna do good, read before class and do the homework. If you did bad in the beginning and do good later in the semester, he takes that into account.
Best class ever I had in Montclair. Didn't get a good grade at first, but Markoff's realistic advices helped a lot through the semester. Having to attend every class with understanding of the topic and homework kinda suck but def worth if you are trying to earn something thru ur college life and career.
Although he is considered one of good accounting professor, his tests are nothing like what u have seen before. More than half of classmates fail miserably in this class. Only smart people made it out with a good grade and ur effort alone will not guarantee u from passing this course. Avoid or else, u might end up taking this course over n over.
I may have gotten a low grade but I left Managerial learning a bunch of stuff other professors would never teach. Come into this class not worried about grades, but just sit back and learn. It's company's faults GPAs are important, not professors. I'm not being paid to write this, I'm being real that your way of life will change after this class.
Another semester of Markoff! Cost was definitely difficult. Really had to study and push myself. The exams were difficult but the final was impossible. If you put in some work, youll get a decent grade, but those who are bad test takers, might just fail. His teaching style is amazing, again, he is one of the only professors who genuinely care.
Horrible in class learning experience. Borderline incoherent when giving lectures. Rude when replying to student emails.
Don't take him. He is a terrible teacher
Professor Markoff is a unique professor. His teaching is different from an professor I or you will ever take. Although he is tough YOU LEARN SO MUCH. Put the effort into his class and you'll understand. I'm not even that smart and I get his class. His test are intimidating and you need to be prepared and know everything forward and backwards!
Most people aren't fond of Markoff, I happen to be one of the few that actually really likes him and his teaching style. There's homework every class , but as long as you do it and understand it you should do fine on the exams. He's also a really fair grader, if he sees you improving he'll bump up your grade.
If you're a MSU accounting major you will most likely HAVE to take him and honestly you're better off for it. He's the toughest in the school and his teaching style isn't typical lectures but if you pay attention, participate, and go over the problems until you know them by heart you'll be fine. He wants you to do well but u gotta put in the effort
two words: don't take.
Easiest class I've ever taken. Wish all my professors were like him
Great professor! He honestly is one of the few professors that actually cares and just wants to see you put in the effort. I've learned so much in his class and his classes are not boring at all. He's a funny guy that gets excited about teaching his students. Highly recommend if you're actually looking to learn something.
The purpose of hw is to build proficiency in recently acquired skills. How am I supposed to do that if i haven't learned the skill yet? Markoff doesn't teach, you teach yourself. All he does is go over hw, barely. He asks in a condescending way if you the student know the answer, and when you're wrong makes fun of you. Waste of time.
Alright! Here's the thing. You will go into his class having heard a gazillion scary things about him, NOT TRUE. The class is really hard and not his fault. He is one of the sweetest people and actually cares about you. If you read the textbook and do the homework each time you go to class, you' ll do great. he also helps if he sees you improve.
Do the homework. Go to class. Participate. Stay organized. That's it -you will do just fine! Just ask if you need help. If he sees your trying and improving throughout the semester, your grade will reflect that. Best professor in the accounting department.
202 is not an easy class. Markoff is a really good professor that cares about every student. Make sure you use up all his resources and complete all the homework assignments. The exams are hard and lengthy but you must know the material by heart to do well on the exam.
Professor Markoff is a bully. He targets unintelligent students and makes fun of them sarcastically. His homework and tests are two completely different things and most of the students fail miserably in his class. Avoid at all costs or expect D or less.
This class made me realize that I couldn't be an accounting major. He was a fun guy. He'll give you credit if the work is there but the answer is wrong which is really cool. His teaching style is what you need to get used to. He teaches some TOUGH material. Participation will help you... he really does want you to succeed. I just didn't...
Like many of you might already have heard Markoff is the only one who teaches ACCT 307, so you are stuck with him. His tests are hard, he gives a lot of homework. But all of this is for a reason. He wants you to understand the concepts. He also prepares you for the CPA exam. Just make sure to do all required AND optional work, and STUDY.
I had him for ACCT202 and this semester for ACCT307. He's a really nice guy and you can tell he is passionate about what he does, but his style of teaching is odd. You have to be prepared to teach yourself the material before class and he calls on random people to answer questions. His exams are hard, but its based off of what he teaches in class
Professor Markoff is one of the genius accounting professor I had ever met. He KNOWS what his teaching. You do have to read and do hw before class but doing it so helps during the class because you know what material his talking about. People saying his the worst professor are people who don't even put effort in. TAKE his class!!!
I was really hesitant in taking this class, but I am glad that I took it. This the best class that I had so far. He does not teach off a powerpoint he explains all the homework really well and how it is done. The homework is very similar to the exams. Markoff cares about your work and your effort.
Honestly at first I REALLY did not like him, but he grew on me. Especially if you compare him to a lot of other professors in the program he actually knows his material inside and out. Once you get used to his teaching style the class is definitely one of the best in the program.
Professor Markoff is the BEST ACCOUNTING PROFESSOR at Montclair. Just do two things in class. Do H.W (Just read what he tells you to read) Attend class. He goes over the h.w which is similar to the test questions. I really wish he teaches ALL the accounting courses. With him as an accounting professor, you will find out how simple accounting is.
There are no better accounting professor than Markoff. He definitely knows what his teaching and makes the accounting easy. Students who says his bad are students who don't put any effort in.
Acct 307 is a tough subject but I felt prepared for every test. He goes over everything more than once. People who do bad in the class do not put the word in. Tests are easier than homework. Tests usually have a twist, but all the information is presented to you just have to decipher it. I wish I could take him for every class.
Great Professor. His teaching style is very unique however, it easy to get used to and enjoyable.
I never wrote a review for a professor before but I just had to for Professor Markoff. He truely is an AMAZING professor. He does give a lot of homework however, he wants everyone to do well and succeed in his class. He curves exam grades so don't worry - study more, show improvement, and consistent participation and there is no way you will fail.
TEST HEAVY, 3 midterms, 1 final, if you dont show up, your going to fail. Teaching method is weird, but you will learn. Lots of homework. no extra credit. show improvement on each test, he takes into consideration. Very hard class if you don't study. funny guy, but hard class. Just do hws, and study as much as possible, and pray to pass tbh.
socrates lecture so he doesn't just read the ppt. He expects his students to read the textbook and have a basic knowledge of the material before the class. He WILL call on you 100%, but he will not embrasses you for making a mistake but rather will go over for the class to see why maybe you got confused so the class can learn from it! TAKE HIM!
The BEST. Expects you to reiew the material before the class by completing the HW and won't "teach" you the vocabs. But actually goes over the questions you'll see in exams so you know what to DO. So much better than profs that reads off Wiley ppt and gives questions they never taught us how to complete. Take him 100%
You will do fine if you read the textbook and do the homework before class. No computers in class, you will have to print your homework for class.
Truly one of the professors.
Absolute Legend of a professor. As long as you read, watch the videos, and do the homework before every class you will be fine. Graded by 3 tests and participation. Potential curve on the final grade if you just show that you care about his class. LOTS of partial credit on exams but don't rely on it. UTILIZE HIS GA'S FOR TUTOR SESSIONS!! It helps.
In Professor Markoff's class, you have to teach yourself the material by doing HW and reading the book. Idk what he's getting paid for. He just reviews the HW in an unorganized manner. His tests are nothing like the HW. His teaching style just isn't for me. I changed my major from accounting to business because of him.
TAKE HIM! Actually cares about his students, really funny, actually teaches. You are expected to do the HW before each class and have a basic understanding of it, then during class he goes over it and shows how to do it. Tests are usually like the HW and you get to bring a cheat sheet! If you need extra help, his GA's are amazing!
Steve Markoff is a terrible professor. He doesn't teach anything and expects students to know all the answers without guidance. I asked him for help with formulas for the homework, and he started calling me names in front of the class. On top of that, his exams are completely unrelated to the homework. He's the worst professor
Professor Markoff's ACCT307 is test-heavy, with 3 midterms and a final. His teaching style may take some getting used to, but the material is manageable if you do the homework, attend class, and study consistently. Unstuck AI is a great tool to supplement your prep.
Ok here's the deal when I first registered for markoff I was scared reading his reviews as well but he's a very good professor I'd say one of the best in accounting department he cares about his students and makes you work for your grade yes it's hard material but if you put the work in you will be fine Show up, Do homework, prepare you will be ok
Do not and I mean do not take this class along side of multiple other accounting classes. Markoff gives two homework assignments a week that are LENGTHY. You're only graded on exams, strict attendance policy, and the worst teaching style. Homework is BARELY related to exams and he just expects you to understand what he teaches, the absolute worst
The class itself is incredibly hard material and fast paced. Though, whatever grade you got on the test, you actually get the grade above from his curve:) With his curves I got three Cs and one A, and I ended up with a B in the class. Don't let his curve fool you, you need to know the material. I had to study everyday for his class.
This is by far the worst professor I've ever taken. The whole class is based on going over homework that is not taught in the first place. I would never take his class again. If you aren't a full-time student and have a job, there's no way you'll pass this class. You have to teach yourself everything and the 4 tests taken make up your whole grade.
Easily the hardest and most frustrating class I've taken. Notes don't match the exams at all, and assignments are extremely long and confusing. He says his exams are harder than the CPA, but that's not helpful—it just adds stress. Unless you want to teach yourself everything, I strongly recommend avoiding this class.
Fast pace class that requires you to attend each lecture to understand the material. Professor is funny and prepares you for questions on the CPA. Exam questions are based on previous homework assignments so review them if you want to get a good grade. Hard but fair class.
The people complaining don't have any work ethic. This is cost accounting. It is a hard course. Markoff as a professor is probably one of the best on the planet. What other professor gives you extra credit when they do magic tricks in class?? He is funny and knows his stuff. I would never imagine taking anybody except Markoff when given the choice.
The good reviews saying others lack work ethic is false. This course is objectively hard especially when he doesn't teach. Most students didn't pay for a course where they sign up to teach themselves and most don't learn effectively that way. Yes, the EC is helpful, but that doesn't mean it'll save you. Redo the HWs and Gleim. I'm glad it's over.
Teaching is difficult. He goes on about his life stories but doesn't teach a whole class. Only goes over homework that he posts and the homework that he posts don't even count at all grade.
Markoff is the best accounting professor I've had so far. There is homework due before each class but the homework is not very difficult. He explains things really well and does not make us memorize anything. Exams are extremely similar to the homework and he allows a cheat sheet.
