I hated this instructor. He made nutrition a living hell. It is like BIO-CHEM all over again. Too picky on exams. All exam questions are essay. His expectations are unrealistic. Doesn't care about his students. Has little to no respect for students.
Hard, but not impossible. Study and know your stuff and you will do fine, this is college. People should grow up and study instead of crying when they dont do very good.

Correct this is college, but that doesn't give him the right to be demeaning to students. Just because someone has the credentials doesn't make him a teacher, he is an example.
This class is not hard, the material is straight forward, but he is not an instructor. He is the worst professor I've had at GVSU. If clinical nutrition is a course needed for your degree, I advise anyone to take it somewhere else and not GVSU.
I would rather get my toenails pulled out slowly and then have salt and lemon juice poured on them then take this class again. Dr. N. is the worst professor that I have ever had. His lack of professionalism is embarassing!

You do have to study and come prepared. You have to make connections to your previous classes. Not for students who want to be spoon-fed, best for those wanting to learn and think.

This man teaches the class one minute as if we were in graduate studies, and the next minute as if we were in kindergarten special education! His pace is very undecided, his tests ridiculous, and his overall annoying persona makes me despise attending.
Dr. N is a very difficult teacher, but he is not impossible. Makes you work very hard, but you learn a lot of information.

Don't take this prof. Has the worst attitude, demands respect but never gives back. Says up at least 50 times during lecture. Never seems too prepared. Difficult tests plus busy work assignments.
Hardest Class ever! Most have to take this class so why not make it enjoyable. You must study like you've never studied before and like you don't have anyother classes and still get a C (if you are lucky enough to pass). Seems nice enough.
He is the worst prof ever. You go into the class thinking that it will be easy but then fail the exams. He gives you study guides and then that information isn't even on the tests.
He sucks, drop the class as soon as possible. This class is extremely hard. It is even hard for students that are not freshman!
My impression of him has gone down hill as the semester has gone on. He thinks too highly of himself and too lowly of us. Doesn't seem to care that we have other classes to worry about. If you study and take good notes you should do okay, but no guarantee
What a rotten man. At first he was friendly and I liked him, but he always badmouths his HS 100 students to us and barks at people for making suggestions. This class makes me wish I was an English major.

Very difficult class. If you are taking a full load reconsider taking this class at a later time. Test are extremely hard. He is very nit-picky when he grades. Requires specific words/answers for questions on quizzes or questions in class.
This class is awful and the prof is even worse. There was not one class when I didn't leave feeling stupid because of the way he puts his students down. Tests are impossible, no help at all with review before exams, and way too much busy work!
This class should have been easy but it sucked! His tests are very hard. No review, he says just know everything he has ever said in class. I went everyday and actually tried to study and ended up with a C in the class.
This is a hard class. My view is that he wants students to walk away with an understanding of nutrition. Dr. N is not as bad as some make him out to be. He is pretty picky about answers though. Study and keep up and you will be okay.
This is a 300 and 400 level prof teaching a 100 level class. Should have been an eays A but I struggled to get a B. Very very nitpicky on exams and quizes. Expects you to know every last detail he covers in class for exams. Take someone else!!
Good luck to all of you nursing majors who are required to take this class! It is very challenging and he makes you feel stupid almost every class period. If I were you start praying now!
Dr. N. is a tough prof, but I learned A LOT from this class. He's super helpful if you go to his office hours, and is overall a nice guy. You'll have to work hard, but isn't that what college is about?
This class BLEW!!!! Hardest class I ever took-Tests were IMPOSSIBLE. He obsses over his microsoft pointer and bikers. Do not take this professor unless you wish to retake this course. GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!

Dr N is just sticks his foot in his mouth a lot! He knows his stuff and I came out of the class learning a lot. He is a nice person, just sarcastic. Study really hard and you'll do fine.
GVSU is an EASY, EASY school. The students whine when a prof is tough. THAT's why Dr. N has a bad reputation. He's a good prof, but he expects you to LEARN material that is tough. How horrible! This was the best class I've had at GVSU.
At first I didn't like him, I thought he expected us to know everything that he knows about nutrition. His tests are very hard and his grading of essay questions is tricky. He is very willing to help and overall, I feel I learned a ton!

Don't ever ask a question in his class, he will stop you half way thru it and tell you that you are wrong. He likes to change test questions in the middle of the test and likes to post quizes late and thinks its ok that you only have 24 hours to take it.
Very difficult class. Hard to keep everything straight when the Prof. keeps going off on tangents! This class should be divided into 2 classes-one for pre-med, etc... and one for nursing.
Steve needs to quit trying to get back at his over bearing mother by screwing GV students. Pompous (sp?), controlling, definately has his "favorites", you name it, this guy runs the gamut. I transferred out because of this idiot!!
This class is way too in depth for the level of the students who are taking it. This depth of knowledge is useful if you are a clinical nutritionist, but too much for 99% of the class. Need help? Be prepared to answer as many questions as you ask.
i studied many hours each day and still failed the course
I, too, failed this class. It's taught as though it were a graduate-level nutrition class. With only biochem as background for metabolic processes, the extensive and indepth stuff you have to learn is much too difficult if you're pulling a full load.
Hardest exams I have ever had/seen. Find old tests! 65% average score on final. Must get extra credit 20 points (try hard for it). Nizielski is arrogant and disrespectful to students. I suffered through this class. Good luck. Be prepared for worst.
I found the class interesting. Sure, the tests are hard, but you just have to study and be able to apply...you can't just memorize. I thought the work level was appropriate for a 300 level course. I found him easy to understand and the knowledge useful.

This course is NOT AT ALL BASIC....Thought I'd acquire an easy nutrition course that was BASIC because that's the title...but he taught it like grad school. I'd ADVISE u to not take him or u'll be jeopardizing your g.p.a. REALLY!!!

What a nightmare. This man is the most awful teacher i have ever had, and it's not because he's hard. I am getting an A and i still hate him. He is arrogant and pompous and completely disrespectful. He needs to get his head out of his ***!!
This course demands that you put together phys. & biochem. The connections made will either drive you nuts (should you then be in health?) or make a light go on that is amazing. You can ask questions, may need to think though. Not for everyone.
The professor can not complete a sentence. His lectures are hard to follow. He does not teach. I have not learned much. Objectives are not clear. Exams are very detailed. Final is cummulative and his help for it is "Know everything"
Class avg 66%. How about that for Basic. Uses notes from his 305, and teaches at a graduate level. Lectures have nothing to do with exam. Must have knowledge in ALL science courses and be able to correlate with material, not taught, in order pass.
This class is not as bad as I heard it would be. You do need to work hard, but if you study notes and do the readings then you should be able to do well. I am carring 14 credits and I am still getting a B+ in the class. Work hard and you should do fine.
He's really not as bad as people say. He's just a big nerd at heart. Just put some effort into the class and you'll be fine.
Have you ever left a class feeling like crying? Well, he will make you do that. No matter how hard you try, he may decide he doesnt like you and continually grade you down. I am usually a good student, but despite all my efforts, I am doing terrible. DONT TAKE HIM... even if you have to. :-(
Very picky grader and his lectures are difficult to follow. You have to put in a lot of effort if you want to get a good grade.

Well, nizielski sure does have a reputation. if you work hard, you can get through it. you do learn some cool stuff. overall, a good class. the exams are hard, so keep up with the studying. and the final is 11 pages long. 6 of which are essay. watch out.
Very disappointing class..I thought clinical nutrition would be fun and interesting. He taught me to hate it! I struggled in that class and should've listened to my friends advice about how awful he is!
He is intimidating at first, but it becomes clear that he wants his students to succeed. The material can be difficult and a small background in science might be helpful, but not necessary. All in all I think he is a good prof.
Worst professor @ GV! Avoid taking HS 105 w/ this man. He used notes from HS 305 to teach BASIC Nutrition. The class averages for the first 3 exams was 66%. You know something is wrong when the class average is that low.
Avoid this man. Made basic nutrition way too difficult. All he does is talk the entire length of the class for the whole semester. Tests were poorly made and very hard. He's arrogant because he knows alot, but he fails to teach it effectively to the class.

The tests are extrememly difficult - he asks for very picky details and I don't ever feel like I have enough time to answer completely. He is a nice guy and lets you retake the quizzes are much as you want but watch out for the exams!!

No a single comment here is a lie! He really does torment your mind b/c you can study all you want and still do awful on his trick questions. Actually said he liked being "devious" on tests. After passing nutrition it made me want to eat trashy junk food just to spite him.

The class was much more difficult that Nochera's Basic Nutrition class. He gave us notes that were from his Clinical Nutrition class. His tests were tricky, with more than one possible answer. This is one class that you really need to work at and study hard.
All I know is you can hear this guy b****ing about his clinical nutrition students down the hall - glad I'm not registered to take that class with him - but the other prof doesn't sound any better - this guy needs to get some professionalism

The guy is everything that is written below. That said, you still need to pass this class with high marks for most programs. When he repeats, or emphasizes something in lecture be prepared to know the topic inside out for the exam, I think about 90% of the essay questions were eluded to in lecture. Write down your question in class and then ask
Prepare to work your butt off. I suggest bringing a tape recorder to class and wring down word for word what he says. I'm not kidding. He is so rude to students and you should NEVER disagree with him becuase, YOU'RE WRONG! Exams are so hard. Wastes class time with irrevelant stories and then when students have questions he wont answer them.
I took this class two years ago and am now a graduate student. He is VERY hard, but he was the one teacher who prepared me the most for grad school (i.e. critiquing figures and papers, exam style and difficulty). Looking for an easy class, then skip. Looking to LEARN, though it may mean dropping your GPA a little, then totally worth it.
You gotta have majorly thick skin to take this class. You will learn a lot, but be prepared to be belittled. I've never felt so low and stupid. If you can just forget about the insults and focus on the info, you'll survive. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!! He will help you and explain the parts that he thinks are important.

Wow Ridicoulously hard class in my opionion. You will learn a huge amount of information, but your gpa will be destroyed. Horrible at writing tests, gives questions where 3 of the 4 choices are perfectly valid right answers and tells you to pick the best one.

He is a mean man who doesn't care about his students or their progress. His tests are extremely difficult b/c each MC question has more than one correct answer are you are to choose the "best one". The essay section nis just as hard b/c if you go in the wrong direction when explaining your answer you get a 0. Doesn't round grades and didn't stic
It is hard but not that bad. He will help you- go to his office every week. I found that using my biochem. text while studying helped. Do the extra stuff, and work on it every day. It is like taking karate or something, you have to be open to learn from the teacher even if you are tired or unhappy.
If you are going to take this class, do not get him as a teacher. He is horrible. His exams are so unfair and he is not clear about anything he is teacher, or about anything that will be on the exams.

He takes pride in being a huge JERK; while he seems passionate about teaching, he really knows nothing about this topic - I know just as much as him, if not more, from taking other public health classes. Can't stand it when you prove him wrong; he thinks he knows it all. Wait to take this class til someone else teaches it.

Professor Nizielski, is more than horrible. he's rude and yells at you if you start packing up your bags the last minute of class. His exams are terrible. I showed a copy of his exam to an academic advisor and they said it made no sense. I hated this class, and I got my first D+ which I am thankful for since half the class failed.

Dont take him if you need to get a C for the nursing program, you will work your *** off and then have to retake it. The material is manageable, and you will know it, and write all the right answers on the exam, but if you dont use the EXACT wording he wants, you will fail the test. He wont answer questions, tells you to look it up yourself. RUN!!!
This is an extremely difficult course. If you have the time to put into it, or if you are a natural at biochem, then you'll probably do fine. He may seem very mean at beginning of the semester, but if you can overcome your initial shock and fear of him, he is very nice and wants to help you. A challenging class, you'll remember it forever.
im a nutrition major &had to drop out of this class cuz it was pulling the rest of my grades down with it. extreamly difficult, first exam i got 10 percent above class average but get this the class average was a 54%he does not understand the idea of a level 100 class at all. i first read the ratings here i thought i could handle it but i was WRONG

The worst teacher I've ever had. Rude, uncompassionate, illogial. Some questions on a BIOMEDICAL test will be asking you to define French words that were mentioned in a footnote in a novel that is required reading though barely relevant to the class. He's not 'tough' or 'makes you work hard' he is just plain BAD. Straight and simple.
This is the first time since my freshman year I failed an exam that I studed very hard for! Very conceided and arrogant! He does not sympathize with students at all. Exams are impossible. This material is easy. Even reading the book is easy; but since most people don't want to read, it makes class participation hard. Go back to high school if this is too hard for you. The book on the Dr. in Haiti makes folks uncomfortable with their closed and consumer oriented lives.

He was the worst professor ever. Very rude and inconsiderate, expects you to read his mind. He yelled at the class for not asking him for homework. This was my hardest class this semester, even though I was also taking chemistry. It should have been relatively easy and interesting, but he made it very difficult and painfully boring.
Extremely intelligent man, knows his stuff. I found the content extremely fascinating. However, he can be very rude at times. This made the class less enjoyable. His pop quizzes are rediculous. You will learn a lot in this class though. It is info that is actually useful in real life.
Although he's extremely knowlegeable and intelligent, it seems that he thinks he is better than you and you are not worth his time if you are not at the same level as he is. You will learn a tremendous amount in his class and has a good view on teaching, but he is pompous and arrogant and would get out if you can because it's not worth it at all.

It is great that he has had years to learn his profession but teaching it to others takes a skill that he obviously has not considered developing in his errogant life! His grading makes it really difficult to do well, because if you make one minor mistake, it will result in a zero on that question. Enjoys making stupids feel stupid.
I do not even know why he is still employed. I have never been so insulted on the first day of class in my entire life. From calling us all stupid and lazy to being outright rude and full of himself. I will never recommend him as a teacher. I dropped on day one and from friends who stayed with it and failed, I made the better choice.
Not a good professor for a theme class. Cannot seem to relate to students. I was insulted on the first day when he announced that he was fundamentally and completely devoted to Jesus. What does that have to do with the education I am paying him for. Not good at responding in a timely fashion. Needs to work on people skills.
For a conceptual course I think he gets to technical and specific. I also didn't appreciate buying the book Mountains Beyond Mountains because it rarely had anything to do with the class. If you can get another professor for Nutrition I would take them. Dr. N is very smart but he expects too much of the students and his exams are killer. He makes such an interesting class into something dreaded and too difficult to pass. A majority of students have to retake it because of him.

Very unhelpful during office hours. Spent the first hour of class talking about himself and how great/smart he is. Makes requirements that are hard to achieve on papers. If something is 'wrong' rarely does he help guide you in the correct direction.
He was the absolute worst. Not only did he assign sooo much reading (from both text and about 5 other articles / day)that I could not even keep it organized, let alone read and understand it all- but he doesn't review the material until the next week, when it's already been forgotten. Adjust what we are held accountable for with the pace of class!
he was my advisor and i met with him as a frosh and he basically told me i was stupid and not cut out for college no less my major.he went off about how dumb most of his students are and how smart he is.he made me feel so inferior.good thing i didnt take his "advice"-i didnt quit and did well.avoid him!i cant believe he gets paid to give advice.
This professor was very difficult. He never actually "taught" the class...he just assigned us readings and quizzed us on them. He never went over assignments before a test either, so the students never knew exactly how to do calculations. He was also very demeaning to his students. I HIGHLY suggest that you take a different professor.
If you are taking him with this class, be PREPARED!! It is a very very demanding course with a great deal of critical thinking. He is a very smart man, but most students dreaded his class. He helps a lot in office hours, though. I am typically an A student, and definitely didn't get an A.
I cannot stand having this guy as a proffessor. If you learn from only reading then you are golden but most people don't and in this class that's ALL WE DO. You know something is wrong when the class averages for his exams are all low Cs, Ds, or Fs.
I saw the bad ratings but tried anyway. A mistake. He's rude, terrible at teaching, and you have to memorize every morsel of the material to do well on his exams. He doesn't answer questions, doesn't give you exam keys, and all exams are cumulative. He loves himself and insults students when possible. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING ANOTHER THEME COURSE.
Worst professor ever.
This class was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. It is very demanding and be prepared for MAJOR studying! Lots of readings and he quizzes you on the readings the next class. Hard exams but if you keep up on studying and are able to answer detailed essays you will do fine. He isn't as bad as people say he is
This was without a doubt the hardest prof. I ever had, we all studied hard as hell, and still did terrible, i ended up with a D+ which destroyed my GPA, his exams are hard, he believes that if a certain number of students don't get tricked by his multiple choice, it isn't hard enough, i felt he made students who asked questions feel like idiots
My advisor told me not to take nutrition at GV, but to take it at CC... boy I shouldv'e listened. This guy is full of himself, can't be wrong, doesn't teach well. He further explains topics in office hours... after he spends the first 30 minutes talking about unrelated stuff anyway. Good luck.
HARDEST class i've ever taken at GV. He sure does force you to know the material and "make connections" on your own. He is not an easy professor, but hes a nice guy.
The man is extremely smart, but he tends to talk right over my head. He goes over material and through lectures at an extremely fast pace. He expects that you have mastered material in ALL your pre-reqs. I put the most work into this class then i have in any other class in my entire life and got the worst grade ive ever gotten... be ready to work

No, he isn't rude or arrogant, just thinks you ought to learn something. There are tricks- he will put questions from the last test on the next one, and stuff from our online material. If you do that and study ahead of each lecture, you too can watch the deer in the headlights of the unprepared that are used to coasting.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM!!!! he does not care about the students in the slightest. I've asked for help several times and was refered to a panflit on study technques. He refuses to use a study guide, wont repeat what he has said in class, won't post slides, and insists that you will fail the test if you didn't start studing 2 weeks prior. WTF

I had no problems with this professor, he was actually my favorite this semester. So many people whine and complain about his tests, but I repeatedly saw students wasting pre-test time griping when they could be squeezing in a little extra studying. I like the way Dr N challenges his students and he knows what he is doing!!

I am normally an A or B student. I recieved a C in the class and had to work crazy hard for that. You're better off typing while he talks. It's impossible to write notes during class. He makes no sense and rambles about fish oils. If you want an A, plan on having no social life.
He demands a lot from you and seems unreasonable at times. This class was very hard and the furthest thing from enjoyable. That being said he does recognize and reward hard work when it comes to final grades.

Extremely smart professor and definitely demands A LOT from you. You MUST study constantly & that still won't guarantee a decent grade. Most of the time he seems unreasonable. He does help in office hours, but only answers you in question form so you never really know if you're correct.
Very difficult professor. I would have been interested in the course had it not been taught at a graduate level.He expects too much of students. Constant studying and self teaching was necessary for this course and a decent grade was still not manageable. Useless outlines. He is extremely arrogant and not enjoyable.
ALL the horror stories are true. The amount of work/studying that it takes the avg student to get an A...only gets a C in his class. He is VERY particular about wording on exams. Get on his good side by going to office hours (seriously)...it seems he grades your exam more leniently if you do so. If at all possible, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM!
I eaned a 4.0 in my last 96 credit hours. I put more time into studying for this class then I have EVER put into any of my classes before and was still only able to get a B in this class and that was one of the higher grades in the class.He expects you to know topic at a graduate level. Interesting topic, impossible teacher. Avoid if possible.
Posts lecture/ppt to iTunes. Utilize these b/c he goes too fast in class. Quizzes are HARD but don't slack off on them b/c you'll need the points @ the end of the semester. Buy the older edition of the book. Study as many old exams as you can get (he'll even post one @ start of semester). Whatever you do, DON'T PISS HIM OFF. He'll make you cry.
Where do I start? This is the worst class ever, with the worst professor ever, with the worst exams ever!!! You have to know everything he says in lecture because his exams are all essay. He is horrible. You can take substitutes for this course, so see your advisor! Crazy man!
Really smart guy, but wants you to know the material at a graduate level. I studied every night and relistened to lectures & still didn't do well in the class. Get on his good side and go to all his office hours. Not really that helpful but he seems to grade easier if he knows who you are. If at all possible take this class with a different prof.
Intensive class, but not impossible to get an A.There were 10 students in this class; 7 got a B or better, and 3 of the 7 got in the A range (one A-, two with an A). You have to study hard b/c you need to know everything he covers.However, all test material is covered in lecture and the taped lectures in iTunes allow you to get the details needed!
He's really not that bad! He's very smart and a nice guy. The class is difficult but if you're willing to put in the study time & re-listen to lectures, a good grade IS possible. I learned a ton from him. Go to office hours- he will help. Do good on quizzes & start them right away - they're tough and take time. He does want students to succeed.
I was interested in this course at the beginning of class and it just continued to drop throuhgout the class. The exams aren't too hard if you study and online quizzes are easy. However, he expects you to know everything so it gets frustrating. Also, doing the readings doesn't garantee you will do good on inclass quizzes. Not the best prof.
The class is interesting and he knows his stuff, but he expects you to know everything at a graduate level! Reading quizzes take a lot of time. Dr. N knows a lot about Nutrition, but that doesn't mean he is teaching it right. Everything in the power-points (which he rushes through), in the book, and on online readings are fair game for the quizzes and the exams. The amount you need to know is brutal. If you do anything outside of this class, you will have a hard time getting a good grade.
Unfortunately, this class was every bit as brutal as I was told it would be. He's the worst, and has wildly unrealistic expectations. If you can't get into the downtown class, band together with your classmates for help, do all the reading quizzes, re-listen to the lectures, and learn to be proud of yourself for getting a C.
I would avoid him like the plague if you possibly can. He expects you to know every detail of everything he lectures on. If you do take his class, make friends quickly that you can work together with to do the online quizzes. Teamwork will make this class much more doable. This class will demand all of your free time!!!
Drop and take another class or prof. Lectures are disorganized. Online quizes are frustratingly specific. Posted lectures take an 1 1/2 to get through. Tests are hard. Go to office hours. Expect frustration.
Nizielski is one tough prof that knows his stuff. He expects a graduate level of knowledge for an undergraduate course. If you visit his office hours you will get better grades (usually). In class quizzes are almost impossible. Exams are made of multiple choice and complex essays that need specific wording to receive full credit.
If at all possible, avoid taking this class. I took it as my only required major course class this semester. I put all of my time and effort into his class and in the end, my gen eds suffered. I studied every day, outline the chapters, and did study sessions with people. Nothing improved my grade. If you must take this class, form study groups ASAP
This was by far my worst experience at GV. I understand it's difficult material, but he made it worse. He expected us to understand concepts immediately and became annoyed if we didn't know the answer. He was very difficult to work with in office hours and students with 3.5+ GPAs were getting D's. Other profs have even said he is one of the worst.
Dr. N is EXTREMELY tough as a professor. He expects you to be able to learn at a PhD level. You must study all the time in order to do ok on his tests. Tests are tricky as there are multiple answers that are technically correct. Podcasts are helpful, he will want essay answers in words he uses! Use office hours and get to know him, he will ease up
This class is DIFFICULT. You can study all you want, but the only way to pass his tests is to basically read his mind. He is extremely picky with the way he grades test questions. Nice guy, a little pompous, but nice. The class is very interesting and he really knows his stuff, but you'd better plan on studying 247. I will be retaking it...
Office hours were pointless, spoke so fast in lecture it was impossible to get info down, wouldn't repeat missed points, expects perfection on short answer questions, hasn't responded to a single email I have sent, usually starts class late and holds you after.
Dr. N is passionate about teaching and about nutrition. You can tell from the first lecture that the class isn't going to be easy. He is teaching you an upper level BMS class and he treats you that way. He records all his lectures - they're there for a reason. Use them. Study like you would for an upper-level class and you will do just fine.
Put in the work, and I mean do all the readings, listen to every detail he says in class and study at least 20 hours for each test, and you will be fine. Go to office hours, but be prepared. He will not give answers, but rather ask you more questions. I know this is frustrating but in the end you will thank him for it, I really did learn a lot
Dr. Nizielski really does know his facts. However, with that being said, he is an absolutely awful professor. I had to drop the class four weeks into the semester because I had to study so much for that class that I didn't have enough time to study for my other four classes. Take the online version of the class at Henry Ford College!
Dr. N is very knowledgeable. He is too smart for his own being in fact. I was never bored in lectures, but this class is difficult and requires a LOT of time. I recommend you go to office hours as often as possible. If at all possible, take in the summer. It is a more intimate class and he has more time to help you!
Nizielski is by far the worst professor I have ever had. He answers questions with questions and often tells students he will not answer questions because we should already know the material. The test are extremely in-depth on concepts only in the readings. He at points would yell at us for taking notes and harassed students in class. Avoid!!!

This professor loves to preach about his personal views. Doesn't post powerpoints, and if you don't get the information, he refuses to go to the previous slide, I though he was kidding the 1st time. Exams are 1/3 essay and extremely detailed. Going to office hours is pointless b/c he talks about his personal life. Uses tophat for attendance.

I have never had such a terrible prof. I didn't listen when people told me to take it online, i regret it. He talks about stereotypes, says hes angry with us and calls us stupid. We went to the dean and they didn't seem to care which made me question GV.I was extremely disappointed, even the fact I recorded the terrible things he said didn't matter
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! Dr. Nizielski is over the top bad. Don't bother asking questions because he won't answer them, he will just tell you that you should already know the answer. He will say if you don't know the answer it is your own fault and that you are clearly doing something wrong. Make sure you know your biochemistry backwards and forwards
He intentionally tries to get everyone in the class to fail his exams. The exams are maybe a quarter of what was actually taught in class, and the rest is outside reading. However, even after doing all of the readings, they aren't of much help. You cannot ask a question in this class, or he will just degrade your intelligence.
He is one of the meanest people I have ever met! If you ask him a simple question about anything you didn't understand he will insult your intelligence in front of the whole class and tell you that you should know it already. You learn maybe 10% of what is going to be on your exams and even reading the book doesn't help much either! GET OUT NOW!!

Steve Nizielski thinks a 105 class is a 305 class. When the entire class doesn't do well on exams (like every exam) he blames us for not knowing how to study. He is an interesting professor, but I once counted 15 times in a 75 minute class period that he said "this won't be on the exam..." He also makes offensive jokes. Only take him if needed.
This man might be the worst professor I've ever had in my life. He is rude and makes extremely offensive jokes and comments and doesn't even focus on what you're supposed to be learning. If you ask a question he makes you feel dumb and then doesn't even answer the question. Tests are mainly outside reading and are still extremely difficult.
Dr Nizielski expects a lot from his students, but what he expects is not unrealistic. He assigns readings and then lectures straight from the readings. If you read ahead of time and take notes in class you can do well. This is definitely the hardest I've had to work for a class, but I have also never learned more in a class either. Be ready to work
Dr. N is a VERY difficult professor and expects a lot from his students (this is college though). This is also a terribly difficult course. However, if you study a lot, take very detailed notes, and go to office hours, you will be fine. He can be a hard ass and come off as rude, but I learned more in this class than any other in my college career.
Nizielski is incredibly intelligent, but his teaching style is more suitable for a graduate level course, and not undergraduate. I would not suggest this course to anyone. He barely uses slides and says everything written in textbooks is wrong. If you miss one small detail that he says, you will fail. Good Luck.
Honestly studied for this class harder than I have for any other class and my grade does not reflect that. Worst professor and worst person in general. His entire class is taught by pictures on a slide show, it was SO difficult to learn that way for me. Most of my studying for this class consisted of trying to figure out what we even learned.
Let me start off by saying that Dr. Nizielski is really intelligent. He rides his high horse into class and rides it out. Everyday. He wants his students to learn and has high expectations for them, however, the workload seemed a bit extensive for a level 100 class. You will do fine as long as you pay attention, take good notes, and READ THE BOOK!
He is THE hardest grader, his exams are borderline torture and no matter how much you study or read the material its never enough. Honestly just looking to pass the class so I can never take it again. He holds office hours but also does't answer questions you have so theres no point in even going. DONT TAKE CLINICAL NUTRITION WITH HIM.
Honestly hands down the worst class I've taken in college. Dr. N has good intentions but he talks to students like they're dogs. And no matter how prepared you are for his exams, you won't do well unless you can read his mind or recite his lectures word for word. Don't take this class with him unless you absolutely have to.
I'm no scrub, but I feared failing. Exams are near-impossible because he produces questions from tiny, obscure figures in the textbook or something he mentioned once in class. Also constantly confuses things he tells his basic nutrition class with things he tells his advanced nutrition class. Often gets heated with students. Worst professor ever.
Dr. N is very intelligent and makes you work for a good grade. His class is very difficult but if you truly learn the material you will pass. He gets off topic very easily and if you don't come to class YOU WILL NOT PASS. overall, the best choice for nutrition classes at GV.
I am a graduate student in PA school now. This is a tough class, but you will thank Dr. N later for the difficulty. Good preparation for graduate level programs.
RUN AWAY! By far the worst professor I've had at GV. Exams are hard and he tries to trick you. He expects you to remember everything you have ever learned from other classes even if they aren't prerequisites. He stopped lecture to yell at a student for leaving class early. I have never had such a heartless professor, Dr. N honestly just cares about himself. I have gone to countless office hours and used other resources and he doesn't offer help. He is very arrogant & seems to think only he has the right answer and that nobody else can be right beside him. Very frustrating & feel as if I've learned nothing.

Professor Nizielski is very arrogant and thinks that just because he wrote a textbook on nutrition, that he is never wrong regarding the topic. He is very unapproachable and often calls students out in the middle of class for answering a question wrong. I suggest that if you have Professor Nizielski, get out IMMEDIATELY. Dr. N has so many bad reviews but do not believe them. He is a great professor that cares about the subject. You need to be able to master the material if you want to pass, but this makes you actually learn the subject. He cares about his students and is ALWAYS available for help outside of class. Take Dr.N if you want to learn about nutrition!
I went to every single lecture, took notes, and probably spent around 20 hours a week studying for this class. Tests are super hard, and he will tell you everything you have ever heard about nutrition is wrong. I personally did not enjoy his teaching style for a 105 class, so I would suggested changing professors ASAP.
Taking this class with him may be the worst decision Ive ever made. He is extremely arrogant and acts like hes the only person in the world who knows anything. Class time is useless, spends The whole period ripping apart research papers, textbooks, articles, etc. Assignment expectations are unclear and his feedback is not constructive at all.
I don't know why I saw so many bad comments about him but i loved him. He really knows what he's talking about and does care if you know the information or not. Most of your grade is based on tests that are kind of tricky but if you you read and go to class you'll be fine. He likes to make jokes and i learned a lot of stuff I didn't know before!
He will be nitpicking & will do things against the school policy putting our quizzes out for everyone to grab off a table, & you can see everyones grade. He is talking about health problems from previous students, & is constantly telling kids it was in the book & thats how you shouldve learned it. He is the worse. withdraw from class asap!
Where to begin: I thought I was taking an intro to nutrition class. This guy teaches it like its for PhD students. With that, prepare for your grades to be scorched. Prepare for your self esteem to be destroyed, prepare for a narcissistic professor who thinks his way is best and to read his book. All aboard the USS Nizielski.
