Easy class but a little strange- we did a lot of writing about writing. We only got around to reading one book. He's an ok teacher, he tries to be as accommodating as possible with his students.

this teacher is... interesting. he's not really hard. if you just do the essays you can easily get an A. however, he's extremely boring and he goes on tangents. but besides that, he's not bad. kind of a pushover, which is kind of a good thing i thinK?

I took his English 1 and 2.His class was not so hard for me as the one who is not even a native speaker.(Without tutor)Just show your effort on your work and don't make your paper look too bad.it's an easy B and if you work little bit harder,also an easy A.

Prof Overall is not boring. If you cant appreciate learning english as well as history than dont take his class. it would greatly benefit you though. Overall is not a comedian he does try lol.if your interested in learning take him. he's cool. dont interupt him when he's talking I've established thats one of his pet peeves. KUDOS!

There is quite a bit of reading but this IS college folks. tests on grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure which seemed a little excessive. He gave me a B- on a paper and i didnt agree with the grade. He didn't change it but I think he liked the fact that I took the time to talk to him about it because I still managed to get an A somehow

Do the reading and put some thought and effort into your writing and you should get an A. It's as simple as that. Very interesting lecture; really makes you think about pieces of writing, even teaches some history. Likes to see writing process steps, but isn't too strict. Very good about deadlines and accepting late work, just talk to him.

dont take this class unless you are a good writer. grades are based on 5 essays and the rest of the work is credit/no credit. attending class is a waste of time because he is so boring and nothing is ever taught during class. this class was torture to attend

If you like politics and write about it, then you will like his calss. His wants you to think deeply about your topics and he will help you make you think on your own way and write a better esay. Must follow his written instruction.

Use textbooks often and a lot of papers and assignments. Majority of the assignments are credit/no credit which is easy -- just do the work to get credit. The class is dry if you're not interacting with anyone. But all-in-all, the class is stupid easy. I recommend it.

Prof Overall is great. during class time he allows his students to brain storm and free write so we basically do all the work in class. If you dont like to write do not take him, but if you enjoy writing he is the guy to take.He is very willing to help if you ever come across any problems. His classes are chill.

Overall is very straight forward. He conducts the class like hes teaching 3rd grade, which is kind of disengaging and makes it very boring but its hard to not do exactly what he says, since he babies you through every step. Writing is graded decently tough, but follow the steps, do your work and what he says and you'll do fine.

Mr Overall's class could be extremely boring at times but VERY easy if you follow his instructions. Lots of writing (most of it which could be done in class) and offers you re writes if you mess up. MAKE SURE YOU WORK ON YOUR ISEARCH PAPER FROM DAY 1! I never turned my isearch and surprisingly still got a B in the class.

An easy class if you just show up and do as he say. He is very organized and you know exactly what you should do. He's not very punctual when it comes to grammar, he's more interested in your writing process. A very good teacher if you're an international student with english as you're second language. I learned a lot!

Professor is nice and fairly helpful. The class is pretty boring but I think that is more due to the subject than it is his fault. A LOT of assignments, which is good for boosting your grade. Write at least the minimum amount of pages required for essays (even if you feel done before that), he'll take points off if you don't.

Look, I took English 1, barely passed, and felt unsuitable for college. Took this guy, got an A, and came out confident again. All you gotta do is put a little extra effort. By saying that I mean revise your paper to make it an A instead of a B. Yeah a little boring, but nothing overwhelming. He only asks for like 5 essays including the final.

I took his Eng2 class and he was very helpful! He offers a LOT of outsidebackground material to help students on their papers, and he gives us guides and handouts. He goes over whatever we're working on for a long period of time before any actual work gets done. He has a soft voice, so you may be tempted to zone out. Great class!

Overall is a very helpful professor when you ask him for it. He tends to ramble during classes, but provides excellent resources for anything that he assigns. He gives more work than others, but most of it helps when it comes to the 4 essays over the semester.

Amazing teacher!! Take him for your English class! It will be worth it. There will be plenty of material to read from, but the way that he's designed his class is so that you enjoy writing, like in his syllabus he says as long as you have evidence to back up your statements. That's all. He cares for the content of your work. GREAT CLASS! TAKE TAKE!

You need the textbooks. Accepts late work. Patient. Homework isn't too heavy. Final is three essays 500 words each. If you can finesse this is an easy A. You don't really have to raise your hand too much either. If I remember right it was like two papers and a final and no other tests apart from that. Bring your laptop and class will be chill.

This class was challenging, with a lot of reading and writing. 3 books required. We read a play, a novel, and a lot of poems. 3 major writing assignments (including final). A lot of homework assignments, it seemed like there was always something to turn in. I wasn't a huge fan of his grading system, but in the end it all worked out. No regrets.

Overall can get irritated sometimes, but is patient in terms of answering every question that gets asked during class, which is really important. He really appreciates participation, and I felt more comfortable talking in his class than in a lot of my other classes. He gives a very large amount of time to complete essays, and hw is straghtforward.

Professor Overall is patient, understanding, and very knowledgeable in his craft. I feel that I learned important skills in English 1 that I will use throughout college. He goes into depth about MLA format and citations, writing as a process, and teaches many useful writing tools. This class has a slightly heavier workload, but the work is all easy

Clear on his assignments, theres 3 major essays and the homework are just steps on how to write the essays. His class isnt hard hes really straightforward and if you pay attention youll get it and if you dont you can always ask questions and hell explain it clearly. Hes very patient and helpful. Definitely recommend.

Prof Overall is SO knowledgeable about literature and really helps you understand it. If you want a better understanding of poetry or even to learn to love it, TAKE this class. There's a good amount of research hw, but he gives credit for it and when the time comes to write the paper, you have everything you need. I wish he taught more SMC classes!

I'm a freshman first year student. I took Eng 2 during the summer 2020. We had zooms every day in the morning. They were optional. But, I attended all! It looks better and I learned so much from him. Prof Overall is so sweet and cares about his students and literature. You can tell he enjoys teaching the material as much as reading it. Not a ton of work, small assignments throughout the semester that aren't overwhelming or difficult. There are 2 major essays: midterm and final. I really enjoyed his class

I went into this class expecting it to be my worst however I was wrong. Prof Overall, although can be boring, is very nice and caring especially with what's going on in the world. He has a lot of small assignments but they are pretty easy and he has 2 essays. His lectures aren't mandatory they can be boring because he is shy and corky but he's cool
