He's a really cool teacher. It's a wise decision to go to class, even though he posts his notes, he leaves blanks and it helps to be there in class. He is VERY helpful with office hours and will tell you the answers to the quizzes if you ask him. I would definitely recommend him for BIOL 1001, 1002.

He's kinda funny because he's really cynical. It's almost as if he hates his entire life (but in a funny way...). He teaches logically and clearly and gives points for attending class. Just go to every class and you'll do fine because he'll throw a couple curve balls on the tests. He's one of the best profs I had so far at LSU.

He's one of the best professors I've had so far. His lectures are so interesting. I should have brought a voice recorder with me to class. Even though he post the slides on moodle, it's important to go to class b/c the questions on test are strictly from what he says during the lecture. I feels like I love to go to his class rather than I must.

He is one of the worst teachers I've ever had. He's very cynical and thinks its funny but its just weird, and he doesn't believe in email. Makes it very unclear what to study for the test, so if you like studying from the book, stay away. Ex. Our powerpoint says ch 10 - evolution. Ch. 10 is photosynthesis in the book. Only 3 tests including exam.

Pollock is great. He never grades anything until the last week of school. But it's a pleasant surprise because everything is curved! Dr. Pollock is one of my favorite professors so far at LSU. Read the book AND your notes at the same time while studying. Pollock is super nice, and is very helpful one-on-one. However, his lectures have no direction. He kind of skips around from topic to topic. Write down everything he says. He is a great teacher that knows how to explain things very clearly. He is available for help almost whenever and is very friendly. His tests are hard; I can feel like I understand the material completely, then there is always a question from left field. Take if your goal is to try hard, get a decent grade, and thoroughly understand the material.

Dr. Pollock is amazing. I took him last year and am still benefiting from what I learned in his class. He is tough, but a lot of us want to go to med school and that is 100 times harder than Pollock. The people whining are the ones that wont work hard enough or sadly aren't smart enough to go to med school and they are finding out during his class.

Dr. Pollock's exams are based off of none of his lectures or the S.I. study guides. Most of the test questions come from online and textbook sources, even though Pollock stated on the first day of class that we would not be using the textbook. Also, the exams are not curved, even when the class average is a "C."

Mr Pollock is a really tough grader. He teaches a lot of information, but it does not really matter as every test in the course follows the same method: 70% of the test is actually covered in class or could be expected to know, 30% is tangentially related information never covered in lectures of SI sessions. He is unreasonably harsh for a gen-ed.
