Economics is an acquired taste. You have to learn to love it. But once you do it's fun. Professor Price was very helpful. I took his online class, and he always offered to help even online. He is very involved in his class, and will help with anything you need help on. He's great!
Price was a pretty difficult teacher, but you learn a lot from his class. At first I did horrible on his tests, but aced the final, which was accumulative. So I learned a lot from taking his class, and he's nice to look at.
This class has been really great. I go at 8 in the morning, and he is able to still make it fun. The class is definitely challenging, but as long as you show up and listen it's not bad.
Easy to get along with and understand. He relates all material to real life perspects that allow for easy tranfer of information. I retained alot from just attending his lectures and using his online tools. He was real down to earth and a pleasure to learn from. However, you completely EARN your grade with this professor. Do your part and STUDY!
Steve is a really great teacher. He's ALWAYS available for office hours to help you out. Going to class is crucial! I highly recommend him.
Great teacher. Great class so far. Very helpful. I hope i can get him for micro next semester.
Known him for years and has always been a great teacher. Economics isn't the easiest nor the most happy subject but Price does wonders with it. Macro was a piece of cake with him.
I would recommed taking his class. Its not the easiest and there is a bit of work, but you really learn the material. He takes info from the book and from outside sources. He does a mixture of multiple choice questions and essay's. He is willing to help anyone who asks for it. If you just go talk to him its amazing what he will do.
He is extremely knowledgable in his subject and makes real life comparisons. Tests are very difficult, but he does his best to make sure you know the material
He's an excellent teacher!!!!
Really energetic and makes you learn! If you do your stuff and pay attention you'll be good. Highly respectable and knowledgeable.
Great teacher. You do a LOT of work but in the end, you really understand. I used to hate econ and this turned out to be my favorite class. Problem is that I slacked off for the first test or two and my grade slid. Keep up and you will do great. I'm taking him for Econ 4 this semester
the Michael Jordan of Butte College!
Steve is passionate about his subject and makes Economics interesting to those who never cared to give it a second thought. His class is extremely demanding and he expects a lot out of his students. It was difficult to concentrate as he is pretty hot in that geeky kind of way...
Its been two years sense I've taken Steve's class and my brain still hurts. I'll tell you one thing though, I still understand the principals of macroeconomics. GREAT teacher, the first test is a gut check, then they get easier. Just don't give up and you'll get the A. Good Luck, You'll need it.
Great teacher you will learn a ton plus hot
he makes it so easy to understand and if you need any help he is always there. he even sets up study sessions at woodstocks to help you! wonderful teacher and he is pretty cute too!
Very impressive. Hard work but well worth it. He loves tough questions so don't be afraid to be the devil's advocate and bring up opposing opinions even if you don't necessarily believe in them yourself. Very helpful office hours. Take any of his classes, but use your time wisely and be ready to work your mind.
Steve is a nice guy but his teaching style was not for me. Most/all learning is done from the book and class is typically used for chatting about world issues. history of econ didn't seem to be a subject he wanted to focus on in class. In short Steve is firm but fair, learning is from the book, and the lecture wont be on the test
Steve is very helpful and he makes you think. He actually makes micro-economics fun.
Great Teacher, Loved his lectures. Hes really into his subject. The only constant homework is an online test, usually 1 per week. I have taken 3 classes with him now.
Mr. Price is one of the best teachers at Butte College. He is very smart and helpful. Great learning experience
I am was not too stoked to be taking an economics class, but once was sat down in steves class I knew the rest of the semester was going to be awesome! Best teacher all around! I learned so much from him. You would be lucky to be in his class!
Steve Price is an amazing teacher in all the classes he teaches.
High energy, love his subject matter. However he's not inclined to to hear other opinions he finds to be "without proof" or having had a social precedence to gauge. There's a quiz or/and a two paragraph essay due EVERY class. Sit back, do the reading, do the essays and quiz's and you'll pass. You'll need a tutor for all the terms though.
Mr. Price is an amazing teacher in an extremely difficlut subject. There is a quiz each chapter done on Blackboard with three attempts and you can use the book. He also gives out study guides a week or so before tests. I really enjoy his class even though I struggle to understand the material. Be ready to work hard!
Amazing teacher! This guy rocks.
If you take Econ, take it with Price. Environmental Econ was actually really cool. (previous comment about daily essays in this class...? Not in our class) Easy weekly quiz, read your text. Bumps grade up one if you are 6/10 or above. Same q's for midterm/final. You really have to be lazy not get an A. A little full of himself, attractive, funny.
His class requires a lot of reading it is a fairly difficult course can be extremely time consuming, but overall Steve is a good teacher.
Awesome teacher
Interested in an Economics Major? If the answer is yes, take Price. He will give you a solid foundation.
Interested in an Economics degree? If the answer is yes, then take Price. He will give a give you a solid foundation.
Excellent teacher. Had him for US Econ History and actually enjoyed it. Excellent combination of history and present day application. Don't expect to cruise through without working, but the work load isn't excessive. Had the most intelligent and balanced discussions with political views of every kind. If you want an intelligent teacher, take him.
This class is based on reading and quizzes/tests. Steve is a great teacher makes you really enjoy learning economics! And he's really attractive!
Great teacher. Teaches through lecture and the book, and mixes them well. Excellent material. Exhibits great knowledge of economics.
Really helpful teacher, you will actually learn the material. He makes the period go by quick
I look forward to class! He's like a celebrity after class. His "fans" wait around to talk to him. He controls the classroom well and really commits to hitting every point. Keeps Blackboard up to date and it is very clear what is due and when it is due. Other professors could learn from his teaching style. Find a way to get in his class.
What can i say about Price? Hands down probably the best teacher i have ever had. Wasn't to sure about taking econ but im sure glad i did. Steve comes to class everyday happy and ready to teach. He is wonderful at explaining everything completely and clearly. Makes it clear what is due and when and reviews for mid terms. Highly recommend Steve
By far the BEST teacher I have ever had! He is super nice and helpful. His class is a bit hard bt if you show up everyday an take the online quizes your golden. He super fun an interesting, and can take a joke. Highly recommend!!!!
He is an amazing teacher. Economics can be a bornig subject, but he makes it exciting. He has study groups on his own time before tests. His exams are not easy, but they are fair if you do the reading and are there everyday.
Best teacher I've had at Butte by a long shot. He's passionate about his subject & wants his students to succeed. It is a difficult class, but make sure you put in the time and effort & your grade will reflect that. He gives a few extra credit assignments & has study sessions outside of class to help out. He's also pretty funny. Take his class :)
Steve is super helpful and understanding, one of my favorite professors! The class is pretty hard, and there is a reading quiz on every chapter. If you do the quizes, and study you should pass. The study groups are super helpful and he will do anthing to help you. He makes the class very interesting and easy to learn!
I came to Butte for a semester abroad, and took Steve's environmental economics class. He was an excellent teacher. He is clear, and very interested in his subject. Classes were always something I looked forward to. Thank you steve for a wonderful class.
Price is passionate about teaching and uses a good mix of materials (textbook, lecture, film). He knows what he is teaching so well that he gets ahead of himself and sometimes is unclear to those who are completely new to the subject. I enjoyed the class, but it is definitely a lot of work and hard to keep up with all the new material.
LOVED this class!!
Price is a very organized, efficient teacher. You'll learn a lot from him and from his class. There are weekly quizzes (textbook is a must), 2 tests, and a few big homework assignments. I'd highly recommend this class.
My grade=B, online. The online format was easy to follow, the exact same thing every week. Price was always ready to help you and answer any questions. He does expect alot from students and the material is not easy to learn. In all, great class and a great teacher.
Price is awesome. No better way to put it. Class can be difficult, but he is willing to adapt the class agenda to make sure everyone has the content down. DO THE READING. Your grade really will reflect whether you read and took great notes or not. Its a tough class, but with Price it has been enjoyable and easier to understand.
This class is hard, it will make your brain hurt! But Price makes it easier to understand and entertaining too. Lots of critical thinking and the tests are pretty hard core. Make sure you have the reading and math skills required! Recommend!
This guy is a baller, he makes everything super clear and won't leave you hanging in the dust. Unless you choose to be left there. By far the best professor at Butte College
Steve Price is a fantastic teacher. The best Economics teacher between CSU Chico and Butte by far. I recommend taking the physical class rather than the online class as you will get more out of it with less effort on your part.
Price really is the best teacher I have had a Butte. He is engaging and fun but maintains control of the room while allowing debate and interaction. It is a hard class, like it should be. You need to do the reading and keep up with the weekly quizzes, but he gives you all of the tools you need to succeed in his class. Awesome teacher!
I'll admit, I didn't think I was going to enjoy this class, and I didn't really care for Price in the beginning. He comes off as arrogant, and his teaching style can be a bit "in your face", which I normally don't prefer. However, he does a great job at communicating and really wants his students to succeed. I highly recommend him.
Hard class but awesome teacher. He has fun teaching the material and it's fun to be in class, but studying is an absolute MUST because his tests are deadly.
Steve Price is by far the best teacher I've had at Butte. His class was exceptionally tough, yet he taught it well by keeping control of the class and making the material interesting. His class may have been hard, but take the time to study and it'll be one of the most rewarding A's you'll receive.
One of the hardest professors I've had at Butte but his awesomeness makes up for it! Price is the man, he's worked as a government economist, foreign diplomat in the netherlands' US embassy and now he's teaching. You have to try really hard to do alright but if you put in the work he'll always work with you. Favorite prof at Butte!
Price is a good teacher, I was really struggling in economics and didn't think I had a chance. I started going to his office hours and attended every lecture. Price took the time to go over things with me and got me to pass the class. Keeps lectures fun with his personality, relates to students and cares about their success in classlife.
Mr. Price is an all around good man. He cares about people and our environment, but do not assume he will go easy on you. Quizzes and tests will definitely be the lot of your points, and when he assigns a reading for homework: READ IT AND TAKE NOTES. Be respectful and communicate often.
Steve is THE teacher to take for econ. There are so much things to say about him. He is a down to earth professor. His lectures WILL keep you awake. Talk in class and you will enjoy the lecture so much more. He literally gives you what to study on the test. He makes you work for your grade but you learn so much from him. Best teacher out there.
So I failed his online Econ 2 but I will be retaking it in class with him! He admits that it is a very difficult class to take online so AVOID AT ALL COSTS. He is great at getting back to you with emails and questions, the course load is not to much to bear, but it is such a hard class online. I would advise taking his class in person!
Taken Steve for both micro and macro. He's the best teacher I've ever had. He's so helpful and entertaining. Tells you exactly what will be on the test. He's a tough grader and class is mandatory. I highly recommend him for any econ class! He inspires me to be the best student I can be and tells us why what were learning is important.
Great teacher all around. Makes Economics understandable. Very clear about assignments and tests. As long as you attend class regularly, study hard for tests, and ask for help when needed, you'll do well.
By far my favorite teacher that I have ever had. Very thorough and good at explaining the material in a way that makes sense to everyone. You definitely have to work for your grade, but he makes it interesting and worth while.
If you do not know anything about Econ i would not recommend him for you. He is good at his job and this class will be difficult for you. Really good sense of humor will make class fun. Study guides and extra test information online. Recommend a lot of studying for this class.
Steve is a good teacher, however the way he does notes is super unorganized and makes it hard to study for tests. Also goes off topic a LOT and the students tend to take over the discussions and it wastes a majority of class time to the point we can't take our reading quizzes, then will make you take a test on 5 chapters at once.
Steve was the best teacher I have ever had. He goes out of his way to make his lectures accessible to everyone, including always offering two sides to an issue. It is necessary to attend class, but its always interesting and worth your while. He does challenge you, but if you are falling behind, just go to his office hours and he is really helpful!
Take this professor. It will make you a smarter human. No textbook needed, he scans in the readings. Useful real-world information. Go to class. Do the readings. Weekly writings are reviewed by classmates, causing better work. He gives you info from both left & right wing, then his opinion, then let's you form yours. I urge YOU to take this class.
Professor Price is an excellent teacher. He is passionate about teaching; he will go out of his way to tutor students to get them to understand the materials. I wish there were more instructors like him.
Be ready to read and participate in group work throughout the semester. Lectures and homework assignments are relevant and useful outside of class. Would recommend but be ready to work.
The online course is hard, Steve Price is fine to interact with. His teachers aide is rude, if he dumped Omar he would get a higher rating. There is lots of peer discussions and feed back, lots of quizzes (lots) and long periods between tests, so the test matter is hard to retain. The peer discussion is lame, everyone discusses your work.
In class Steve is a great professor! Easy homework, you get extra credit for doing over 60% of each hw assign. correctly. Most students received above average grades. I highly recommend & would take again! Study the graphs on exam study guides. 2 exams & final. Multiple choice Qs are hard bec he uses a program to generate Qs, so Qs aren't familiar.
I would highly recommend Steve. He is a great guy, answers emails really quick. Willing to help you and gives a lot of extra credit. If you read, and do the work you will get an A
I liked Steve as a person but as a teacher I felt like he was trying to give us too much information at once. No matter how long I studied I could never get anything better than a C on tests. HW is nice because you get extra credit if you get most of the answers right so that's what really saved me in this class
A genuine teacher that cares about his students. His classes are a bit hard for introductory classes but that just makes you more prepared for future classes. His lectures will make you a smarter person overall, not just when it comes to economics. The Woodstocks study sessions are really the key to passing his class (plus you get pizza!)
Favorite teacher that I have ever had. He really wants you to succeed. The material can be tough and he definitely makes you work for it. Plan to spend a good amount of time on the hw... youll learn a lot about Econ and just the real world in general. Great guy and teacher!
No textbook needed! You will have to pay for an online program called Thinkwell which you watch online lectures and take practices quizzes on. You will have 2 discussion assignments per week. You will have 1 quiz per week as well. There are also 3-4 exams along with a midterm and final. All quizzes and exams will be proctored by Proctorio.
Price is hilarious and caring. He really tries to make class interesting. There is a lot of reading but other than that the class is great. Just read and show up to class and youll pass
He's gotta be the smartest man I know. I love listening to him. Read, so you can engage with him and answer the short quizzes he gives. Energetic :)
Price was hands down my best professor at butte. He keeps ypu engaged no matter the topic. He is able to give arguements to both sides of politcis and makes every class interesting and fun. I recommend him if you have to take an econ class.
Steve seemed like he good give an interesting lecture but as time went on, I realized he wasted a lot of class time rambling about sociological issues and not enough about the actual content. He's a tough grader on assignments, which makes our time more valuable. He said some of the most discouraging things I would ever imagine a teacher saying.
He is a phenomenal instructor, and from what I can tell, person. Very smart and charismatic. Oh, maybe I just really like him.
He had us buy a five dollar cheap book to read which was a plus! :) make sure you read because there will be quizzes. This professor cares a lot for his students. Final, a 2500 word essay and he helps you with it. Easy class as long as you participate or read!
I'm taking an introductory macroeconomics course with Professor Price this semester and am loving it so far. He relates lectures to the real world and provided a free online book for us to use, which shows that he values his students.
Favorite Butte professor. Funny and relevant lectures, not much homework, and a great teacher. Doesn't take himself too seriously and really knows the subject (Econ) well. Just be sure to show up on time. The tests might be difficult if you aren't prepared, but I highly recommend taking Professor Price.
Mr. Price was reasonably with his workload. Tests will be very difficult if you do not study.
Don't take this course online. The work load is absolutely awful. You are required to watch 6-10 videos every week which are about ten minutes long, as well as take two quizzes every week and write an essay every week. I would HIGHLY suggest a different teacher. I honestly tried so hard in this class and I still did poorly. He's a very tough grader
Best teacher I've had at Butte College, hands down. Very sharp. Answers all questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. Accessible outside of class. Offers an invaluable study session before each exam (and buys pizza.) Very engaging in class. High quality human outside of class. I don't think I've gained more value from any other class at Butte college.
I went in there dreading the class. I signed up with my best friend so I wasnt alone. He completely flipped my opinion on economics. Hes inspiring & cares that we all pass. I put no textbook because we used a normal library book. Also, go to his study dinners at Woodstocks. He buys the pizza & its a chance to ask your peers & him questions.
I love Steve but this class was hard. The reason why I say this class is hard because he usually goes off topic in class and his tests are so hard. The best I got on a test was a very low C. Overall he's an interesting guy and kind of funny
Price is one of my favorite professors at Butte, sets clear expectations and holds study sessions that you can go to if you understand. You have to study to pass, but he is a really funny professor who knows his material very well. Would take him again
Steve is very straight up and will tell you what is on the test. He is a tough grader but if you show up to class and pay attention you will pass. He also host study groups outside of class and buys whoever shows up pizza. Definitely my favorite teacher.
I've never been a fan of any type of economics, but Professor Price was able to explain the material thoroughly in a way that was both fun, and made sense. You do have to attend at least one lecture a week, and it is encouraged that you participate in some way, but nothing too bad! He grades carefully and you should expect to read and reread lots.
Price is so confusing on his lectures they make no sense. Hes a hard grader but doesnt mark whats wrong. I have more work in this class than i have in the rest of my classes. Honestly wouldnt take a class that he teaches again.
Price is the coolest proffessor ever. His lecutres are not only interesting but also very informational. Participation does matter. He likes it when you speak up in class, even if they are your opinions. He implores everyone to express their opinions. Some group assignments. Be sure to write all the notes, they are the heaviest part of your grade.
Prof Price really cares about your opinions and wants to hear you speak in class. Lectures are honestly really interesting, even online they held my attention pretty well. Also a funny guy, if you can get it out of him. Notes every class period but super easy because he tells you exactly what to write and puts it on screen. Great guy!
I absolutely HATED Professor Price in the beginning but at the end of the semester he left me feedback on my final essay explaining why he is such a tough grader and how he felt about me as a student. I registered for econ 4 with him after reading that. GREAT instructor and AMAZING guy. Highly recommend taking his class!! you wont regret it!!
Like I said for ECON 2... GREAT teacher and AMAZING man!!! Take his class, I promise you wont regret it!! He offers extra credit up to 40 points at the end of the semester that he walks you through getting done. Not an easy A but he is fair and reasonable. I wish I could take more classes of his.
Very engaging lectures and teaching style; you can expect the material on the tests to be exactly what is covered in the class. Clear and concise but always willing to go off on a tangent.
Writing assignments aren't that hard for Econ History, Micro, or even Macro. He's a wonderful teacher and really does want to see you succeed. If you get to know him, he's a great guy, but an even better teacher. Take him for any econ class you have.
Steve is amazing! One of my all-time favorite professors. I dreaded taking Economics but he made the class something I actually looked forward to! He grades tough and requires regular attendance, but if you put in the effort he will always meet you half-way. He's caring, funny and makes his lectures interesting. Take him if you can!!
Yikes. Maybe it was just my experience from being an online student, but his work was very difficult, and you should always be studying for his class. His assignments and tests aren't things you can wing and require hours of study time. Honestly, I would take him in person, I hear his class is way better in that aspect.
From his riveting lectures, and witty sense of humor he truly makes you enjoy the moment. I took economic history and he helped deepen my understanding of how America achieved status along wit impressive innovations that took to get here. I put his class at easy, however it is average difficulty, he teaches so well that everyone is prepped for exam
His teaching style is engaging and current. They convey the material using real life examples and every lecture feels like a new Ted Talk. Incredible stuff.
His lectures were always interesting and his stories and perspective on issues are really interesting, but the reading could be pretty dry sometimes. He's straightforward about how he grades and warns you if quizzes are coming up. As long as you do the homework, you should be fine. He's a pretty generous grader, too.
Steve was a really great teacher, he really liked engaging with us and making sure we knew to ask him for help any time. Attendance is absolutely mandatory however if you miss a class, he posts the lecture online. Sometimes he would get a little off topic just because we would ask a lot of questions and he'd answer. Lectures were not boring.
This class moved along with conversation but I felt the professor was too flirty with his young female students.
He's an economist but really he's a great guy.
A little unorganized teach structure at times.
Professor Price's lectures are engaging and informative. He uses real-world examples to bring the material to life. While the workload can be heavy, attending class and using resources like unstuckstudy for study prep make a big difference.
Understanding the supply curve to graph was a bit difficult but take your note, do the test and you should be fine. I did like watching his lectures and his personality was great, obviously respect his time by doing your work. Would take him again.
He was a good professor, but it was a bit difficult because his videos were just him from the previous class. so there were hour long videos of him talking with students. Also, you must watch his videos because he requires you tp submit the notes, and he can notice if you don't watch the video.
The instructor seems like a nice guy BUT when it comes to his course and the way he teaches is something different if your're ready to watch longgg videos, long lectures, long exams then take the class but I think there's other classes where you can learn faster which is the important part in general but definitely last time in a class with him.
I feel the class was Okay but he def is a tough grader, midterms are always complicated so you need to pay attention on anything but I feel he was always trying to flirt with some young females, I tried to get some help from him once in an assignment and I felt he was always more open to help just to female girls, it was weird.
I took Mr. Price for Econ history as well as Econ 2, he was amazing both times; I didn't do that great in Econ history my first semester but made an epic comeback during Econ 2 which finally landed me that A, I studied so hard that I thought I was going to go bald, but it as so worth it. One of the best profs you could possibly take here.
