He is so Godly and caring!!!!

he's nice. could be a lil more energetic, but i think he's an awesome guy. and his class is really easy. yay for easy classes!

Dr. Putney is a wonderful teacher and actually seems like he knows what he is doing. I do think he could be a little easier, so I'm gonna take a different prof. next semster...however, I would reccomend him to anyone.

He is too nice of a teacher....he is worried about offending everybody while teaching. He would be a great counselor! The class is a basic worldview course and you will learn the basics but don't expect to be enlightened.

He is an extremely nice man, but needs to remember that we are adults and in college, not in high school! This class is boring, but it's not totally his fault. GNED is just a waste of time.

You know when you can miss, he lets you know when you have quizzes which count as your attendance.

One of my favorite profs, very fair and clear, very knowledgeable about the topics, handles controversial subjects well and delicately without compromising. I think the time alloted for GNED classes is against all the professors teaching it, but overall great prof and class, and I enjoyed it.

Not predictable as others say and very much likes debate.

His test our easy and he will give you quizes that never show up on your grade! He is okay and I would take him over honeycutt!

Dr. Putney is an amazing teacher. His class was very easy -- if you go to class and fill in the notes. He is a really sweet man and REALLY cares abouth all of his students. I recommend him for GNED 102 --- like the prson before he is definitely better than Honeycutt!!!

Very easy if you listen and take notes. Really cares about people and his students - loves the Lord - high integrity which makes him credible in the subject he teaches. A sweety! The down side? - repetitive with many examples of the same thing!

alot of voluntary class participation. so just sit back relax and fill in the blanks of your notebook.

He is extremely funny and is my favorite teacher of all time. He keeps you entertained during class with open topics and always likes new opinions. Very easy class and is so easy to pass. I wish i could have him as a teacher for every class!

I am APPALLED by the negative reviews of Putney! I love the class because he challenges us to think critically. When he doesn't know the answer, he will find it out. He is easy, but only because he knows how to relate to students. GNED isn't meant to be incredibly trying anyway. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! I liked it so much I'm taking 102 with him also.

Dr. Putney is a REALLY nice guy, and very helpful. Very lenient with excused absences. He likes class interaction. Extremely easy, and not too boring. Study guides are right on target, and extra credit is allowed.

Wonderful teacher...took him both 101 & 102 loved him!

What can a person say. He's a great teacher and he truly cares about all his students so much so that he is willing to talk to them on a one on one basis after classes. Classes are interesting and funny, especially when you get a great group of peers.

He's a good guy. Very easy class. I mean come on... one of the test questions was "True or false, looking at a little****ography is healthy." hahaha

Took GNED 101. Fantastic professor, really nice guy, I still keep in touch with him. Class is very easy, but not a sleep through. Lots of in class discussion. He's a little more conservative than me but he's not judgmental about it, just gives his views (if that) and tells us we need to find out our own and understand them.

easy class. he cares about his students (despite what people think...its not fake). sometimes i laughed at how conservative everything was in this class but it wasnt bad and class was interesting

It's an easy class if you pay attention. Attendance is graded through quizzes following every reading assignment. He opens the discussions up to the class and usually keeps my attention.

I took him for both 101 and 102, and he was great in both. He was absolutely hilarious when his wife came in to visit. (make sure you request for her) The subject is sorta boring, but he does a good job at teaching. Quizzes are right out of the readings, and tests are right out of the book. Read and attend class and you'll get an A+.

Dr Putney is a Godly man.Whatever he does is to the glory of God.He upholds what he teaches intergrity honesty and Godliness.if you read for his class you pass.What else does he need to do for you if he actully gives you a study guide which is an exact replica of the test.God bless you Dr Putney.

good professor

His class is extremely easy. He teaches clearly. It's easy to understand the work and you'll actually learn. Take him if yu know what's good for you, because those other GNED professors can be scary.

Very nice man. Always encourages class interaction, and loves to meet and greet before every class begins. Very easy class, if you fail, then something is honestly wrong.

He was able to keep my attention, had a good class, ran it well. He made a few jokes, but was all in all a straightforward teacher. I enjoyed it.

i really like him and enjoyed his take on things. he's very passionate and loves his job. BUT... all my friends have different gned teachers and say they're hilarious. putney's more the serious type. good discussions though.

I had Dr. Putney for GNED 101 and 102. I think he is an incredible teacher who is very passsionate about his class. Even though, this class was a requirement and I didn't feel like it was necessary to take it I am now glad it is. His 102 class especially helped me deal with alot of issues that are relevant to life in this day and age. Take his clas

DR. PUTNEY IS THE BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!! HIS CLASS WAS EASY AND FUN TO ATTEND. ATTENDANCE IS MANDITORY BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE QUIZZES ON READINGS THAT HE GIVES U BUT I NEVER READ ANY OF THEM AND I GOT AN 80 OR BETTER ON THEM. I WISH PUTNEY TAUGHT EVERY CLASS AT LU!

Dr Putney is pretty good. He gives a decent foundation for unerstanding biblical and secular worldviews. The class is not hard at all as long as you fill in the blanks in the notes. Its an easy A. He's got a good sense of humor, which also adds to the class, and like to interact with the students a lot through Q&A.

Dr. Putney is very passionate about teaching and did a good job teaching this class. Lots of class discussion/questions. Weekly reading assignments were short and quizzes on them pretty easy. His study guide tells you all you need to know for the test. Good,informative class.

No lie...he is a hottie! He has a great personality and is by far the best GNED professor at LU. He's a great guy!!

He is a really nice guy and a wonderful person. He is just extremely conservative and maybe a little condemning. He is boring sometimes too. I would have rather taken someone else for GNED 102 but it wasn't that bad and if I had to I would do it again.

Professor Putney is my favorite teacher of all time. His ability to intermix the lesson with todays culture is incredible. If your a freshman at LU try your hardest to get Mr. Putney. He really cares about his students and will do his very best to help you. Great christian man.

Excellent Teacher who Clearly loves and Cares about his students his teaching style is both direct and easily understood. He always finds a way to make class enjoyable for his students his quizes and test are cake if you do the the assignment prior to HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I had him T/Th at 9:15. I guess I didn't like the class because I was struggling to stay awake, he is nice though. You have to study for his exams, it's not a walk in the park, but not impossible by no means.

Putney's class is very easy. However, if you're a thinker at all or have the slightest interest in philosophy, he will annoy you so badly. With everything he says, he seems to think that he's the most brilliant mind and you couldn't possibly have understood what he was talking about prior to his revealing it to you.

Good class that provoked thought. It offered a very broad range of topic. Understandably, some controversial topics were breezed over so as not to dominate class time.

I learned alot in GNED 102 from Dr. Putney. He is passionate about he teaches. I liked GNED 102 better than GNED 101

I had Putney for GNED 101 and liked him so much, I took him for GNED 102 also. He really told us like it was. No sugar coating, which is perfect for what GNED is designed for. His tests and quizzes are easy IF you do the work. I wouldn't call him the greatest professor but he's a great guy and I highly recommend him.

Putney is a nice guy, but I HATED his class. He talks the whole class period. The topics are boring and annoying. The readings are long, and the quizzes were easy but frustrating. He does give study guides for the exams though.

Funny and very passionate about knowing what we believe as Christians. If you're interested in the material I believe you will love this class. If not, you'll be bored. Study and listen to his instructions and you should have a solid A.

Putney is a nice guy and great at explaining everything. He loves answering questions too. The reading is easy and the quizzes are easy. Plus there are plenty of extra credit options. There is no excuse to not have an A in his class. I highly recommend him.

This class was super easy but I could not help falling asleep every class because he bored me soooo much. First teacher to ever put me to sleep...

Easy class with some interesting discussion on certain subjects. Professor genuinely cares about the students and wants them to think about the issues discussed. Felt boring at times but that is the way it goes with a lot of the generic freshman classes. Would recommend him for this course.

I LOVED this class. Putney is an awesome professor. He explains things very well and really helps you to apply it to life. He shows funny videos that pertain to the material! I loved this professor, he made this class my favorite. Take him, you won't regret it. Yes, you will have to read but this is college people!

I enjoyed taking this professors class, quizzes are very easy as long as you did the reading (2-4 pages), tests are straightforward. Very approachable and friendly to talk to. Not a difficult class, as long as you keep track of when the quizzes are. Don't buy the workbook, your not really going to be using it.

Great teacher! A lot of people blow off the class because it is so basic but examining your worldview is important. It was obvious Dr. Putney really cared about the students and the subject he taught. I enjoyed his classes and would recommend him. Took him for GNED 101 and BWVW 102.

Great and entertaining speaker with lots of class involvement! Also very clear and wants you to succeed. Study guide is exactly what's on the test and rubrics for papers are clear and stuck to. Take this class and pay any bit of attention and you'll both get an A and enjoy getting it along the way.

No matter the professor this is the easiest class you will ever take. Favorite thing about him is that he is very family oriented. Least favorite thing is he is very opinionated and doest seem to want others to talk about specific topics. Like gifts of the Holy Spirit... expect to get shut down quick! I didn't use the book at all.

This class was an hour and ten minutes and I literally could not stand being in there that long it was so unbearably boring. And if anyone asks a question he will beat around the bush without ever actually giving a straight answer. If you can get one of the other teachers I would recommend it because Putney is just really really dry honestly.

He is a great person, but not the greatest teacher. The class is a Bible class obviously, but there tends to be some times when he can come off too harsh and a bit rude. The class isn't bad, but like every other BWVW class, there is a lot of reading and weekly quizzes.

Pitney is a kind, friendly man. He tries hard to get to know all his students which is tough considering the classes have 200+. Knows his material and likes to pass the mike around. The class touches on alot of controversial issues, and unless you're a diehard liberal you'll love him. Tests are simple and straight forward.

Dr. Putney- the man, not the class- is awesome! He tries very hard to make the class interesting! He doesn't want you to just come to class and sit and learn nothing, so he allows everyone to put in their two cents or ask questions. The only thing that is essential to passing his class is the readings. YOU MUST READ THEM! Take Putney! You'll enjoy

I took BWVW 101 in Fall '13. Putney is a kind man and communicates well to the class. I personally do not prefer him as a BWVW prof. because he uses too much emotion when he teaches, so the short 50 minute class seems to drag on. Putney approaches topics with care and gentleness, don't take him if you want a more blunt approach to the topics.

Putney has a bad rap because he kinda drones on, but I really liked both of the BWVW classes I took with him. He is definitely a good professor, but not necessarily better than any of the others who teach this class.

There are worse teachers than Putney, but there are also better. He is knowledgeable, but his sense of humor is too dry to keep me awake many days. Easy A

Putney is definitely not for everyone. Some people really like him. I personally cannot stand the guy. He uses far too much emotion and personal preferences while lecturing, and talks about pointless things way too often and for too long. He also lets a lot of people in the class talk in the microphone, and it takes up so much time.

Dr. Putney is one of the nicest people I've ever met. He will often ask open ended questions and then walk around the classroom with a mic, handing it to anyone who is interested in sharing their opinion. His class is interesting, and he involves the students. He even stays after to answer questions students may have. He genuinely cares. Great guy.
