Very Good Teacher. Not hard, yet not so easy we don't learn anything!
Very nice teacher, and easy
what a great class, I learned so much and he grades easy too
No Comments
Very easy, tells you what to study for!!
Good teacher, nice guy, straight foward notes and tells you what he is going to test on. would recommend
Excellent sociology professor..I would definitely recommend him.
I'm not sure he knows what he is teaching! Easy class, though. He seems like a nice guy; he's just not interesting.
I learned alot, and it wasn't a very hard class... i defentally recommend him for soc!!

Very easy teacher, his tests are exactly like his notes. I highly recommend him.
Loved him! He's very straight forward in what he wants on tests. Very interesting class.
Good guy. Presents the material in ways everyone can understand. He doesnt try to make himself sound super smart by overwhelming you with too much information. Covers the basics of Sociology. Great class and easy A.
Awesome prof. Very organized lectures, easy to follow. Not a lot of work. Tests are easy; they come straight from the notes. Funny, easy to get a long with. Wants his students to understand sociology! Take him if you can! =) Fairly easy A... =)
I have had more than one class with him before. I love his lectures and enjoy going to class. Not only do I get good grades but I learn useful things for my degree.
He's a great guy, whose ability to get students to identify with the subject is great.
Dr. Sherlock is Excellent!!! He is very smart, knows he's stuff, and "tells it like it is". He is an expert with Social Theory and Juvenile Deliq.
Dr. Sherlock is the best. This is my third class with him and he's still as good as he was in the other classes! I highly recommend Dr. Sherlock if you want a very straightforward class!
For the topic, he does about as well as anyone could teach it. He is very knowledgeable about all the material and really allows free thought. If you have to take a professor for SOC classes, dont shy from him, put him on your short list
Very easy professor. You will learn alot in this class. Very intersting lectures. Easy tests. If you study his lectures you will do good on the tests. Nice guy... would recomend...
He's my favorite!! I wish he taught more classes, becuz I'd definitely take them all. i most definitely recommend him as a teacher!
Dr. Sherlock is a great professor! He took a dull sounding class and made it interesting. Take him if you can!
What can I say that hasn't been said? Doctor Sherlock is one of the best out there. He understands students and that they have lives outside of class. He assigns minimal work and what work there is was done in class. Dr. Sherlock is the man to take for any Soc class!
Very easy class. Tests are extremely easy, straight from the notes. Class can be boring at times.
Good prof, very helpful!
Do not take this class with him.. it is the longest and most boring class of your life. His lectures are confusing and he loads on the work. Plus you have to read a book that has nothing to do with anything relevant...
This class is pretty easy although the "journals" he hands out can be rather annoying. He is a nice guy but the lectures can get pretty boring. Has a nice grading scale
Terribly boring but easy.
Take this class! He is the best professor ever. Easy test, test are straight from notes, no cummulitave exam just 3 mini ones. My advice to anyone would be to take him!
I've taken every class Sherlock teaches. He is by far the best professor on campus. He can be a litttle boring, but he is very helpful, and tries to mix things up. Definitely take him...you'll learn something!
i have taken all the classes he offers. great guy, very helpful. he is very clear in his expectations and tries to make boring topics interesting. needs to look for newer movies, but hey, at least he shows some.
An extremely interesting instructor. Depth of knowlege is amazing, topics interesting, assignments informative. Covers all material in a clear, concise manner. Personable, kind and extremely intelligent. Would recommend Dr. Sherlock to anyone for any soc. course.
Dr. Sherlock is one of my favorite professors. He explains everything so well and gets right to the point with everything. Most his assignments are in class and the ones that are homework aren't due till the very end of the semester. His syllabus is your study guide and he makes sure only the covered material is on the tests. GREAT CLASS!!
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! Dr. Sherlock is a really great and laid-back kind of guy. He is very clear about what he expects from you and there are no surprises. The exams were easy even with essays, and he grades them fairly. I like to take organized notes, and he can be a little disorganized, but he's good at answering questions.
Prof. Sherlock is fantastic. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. I liked his interest in the material and his teaching style. I struggled in one of his classes and had to retake it, the second time around he worked with me, and made sure I understood the material. Not easy, but he provides you will what you need.
Great teacher! He gives amazing lectures. If you pay attention to them, and study your notes, it is very easy to get an A....as well as learn something
AMAZING professor, if you have to take Sociology I suggest Sherlock. Lectures are organized and interesing, he expects students to learn and understand the material. I'm going to miss the class!!!
Prof. Sherlock is great! He is very knowledgable and knows how to teach. Take notes and pay attention and it's an easy class. I would recommend taking him.
Very boring, his tests aren't too bad. But you really don't have a huge desire to do well in his class, because you will hate going
I love Dr Sherlock. He is interesting, mixes class up so its not boring, and the homework is easy as long as you stay on top of it. He assigns journals to do at home, and if you do them when assigned its not bad at all. The tests are very straight foward, just make sure you use your syllabus as your study guide. VERY recommended!!
Easy lectures, very structured so that even SVSU students can understand, & keeps material interesting and relevant. Can be boring at times, but only when he thinks people aren't catching on, so be tentative and class will be more exciting. great movies, 1 presentation normally required, DO JOURNALS WHEN ASSIGNED! books assigned only as references
Professor Sherlock is an INCREDIBLE sociology teacher. I am not the greatest student ever by any means, but I get A's on everything I do in his class. Pay attention and you're in for a great opportunity to learn some VERY interesting things about sociology. You'll love him!
This professor is increadible. he explains things in a easy manner so that everyone can understand. if you go to class and at least semi pay attention you will do good in the class. just review the main things for the test and it should not be hard. the final exam is not quite as easy though.
Multiple classes w/Sherlock and it's never been bad. You still have to work, but his classes are great because he's so clear about what he wants. He tries to make lectures interesting. He's one of the profs in the sociology dept that everyone recommends for good reason. His expectations are fair and the workload is manageable. Take his courses!
Take notes on the lectures, study them, and you'll do just fine. He makes the lectures interesting so it's pretty easy to pay attention. He's a nice guy.
Very nice guy!! Explains the material really well!! Just take notes from lectures and study them and you will do just fine in the class..
Fairly easy and very interesting. He's always easy-going, flexible and laid back, but yet teaches a great deal of interesting and useful sociology information.
This class was boring,I think his style of teaching is different. If Soc is not your major I suggest you take another class.
Come to class and take notes = an easy A. The teacher expressed his willingness and ability to help. Lots of lecture, but was usually very interesting. I would highly recommend him as a teacher.
Great teacher, a lot of lecture but easy to understand. Took attendence every day, but allowed you to miss 8 classes. Easy exams, and always informed you when there were quizes or when there was going to be an in class activity! Strongly advise!!
Fun to learn from.
Sherlock is AWESOME... so easy it's funny. Maybe it's because I'm a biology major, but you could sleep through this class and get an A+. Takes tests DIRECTLY from notes, no surprises. Does do weekly quizzes though that are really easy, but if you fail them all it's 25% of your grade... And for as easy as the class was, I actually learned a lot!
he kept lecture interesting and had a handful of videos exams are easy with minimal studying majority of material from lecture is easy to remember i would definatly take him again for another class
Great teacher, Tons of vidoes, easy tests with minimal studying.
Really good professor. This class is so easy. He is a really lenient grader and you learn a lot. I took a year long soc class in high school and he shrinks it well into one semester. Totally suggest taking him.
His lectures are somewhat interesting, but I lost interest sometimes. Easy quizzes/tests...didn't really have to read too much if you just attend lectures. I liked him a lot :3
Best professor I have ever had! Clarifies information that is hard to understand. I took a theories class that would normally be boring, and he made it interesting and easy to understand. I strongly recommend taking a class with Professor Sherlock!
He is an amazing professor. Knows how to lecture, how to answer questions, and in general just knows his stuff. He tries to make class interesting, and he only lectures about stuff that is important, and his tests are made up of only lecture/class based materials. Easy teacher if you show up to class. But you actually learn things too.
Great teacher, class is hard, but if you study and take good notes, not too difficult to pass. Has in class journals that are a quarter of final grade plus 3 tests. Great teacher, would recommend.
I loved Professor Sherlock's class and I would highly recommend it. It's important to take good notes, and as long as you study those thoroughly before exams you will do fine. His teaching is clear and exciting, and he has a great sense of humor. He's not intimidating at all.
Sherlock knows what he is talking about. Take good notes because that is what is on the exams. He tells you exactly what is going to be on the exams and what isnt. Extremely helpful if you need it so dont hesitate to ask. Take him!
This class was a lot of fun to take. Professor Sherlock made it a lot of fun. I learned so much from him. His tests are really easy it's straight from the lecture and the books. He will tell you what is on the test. I would highly recommend taking his class.
Awesome professor! pretty easy class. take notes and you will do fine. He gives you everything to study for the exams and it is not a cumulative final. He breaks up class with lecture, movies, and group activities so people don't get too bored. Definitely recommend taking him!
Great Proffessor! The class is easy if you are there everyday and take if you notes. Everything that is on the test is what you take notes on, and he will tell you what will be on there. There is quite a bit of reading in the class, but its not too overwhelming.
Good prof. Easy class and subject matter. He seemed a little bored with such simple ideas to discuss, but he still made class fairly interesting with lectures. I could have failed my final and still had a high grade in this class.
Very likable professor. Class was pretty easy (I only have 2.7 GPA) if you show up for class and take notes on what he writes on the board. You do a fair amount of V-space activities but they aren't hard at all. All exam material is what you took notes on, so its easy to study. Very interesting class and Steve taught it very well. Highly recommend.
Pretty interesting class, and also required if you are a SOC major. Sherlock is probably one of the best, if not the best, professor at svsu. He's a great guy and his teaching style is awesome. Take notes on what he writes on the board and study and that is your exam. One paper on a soc theorist and a very short presentation of it. Not bad at all.
One of the best teachers I have had! Extremely helpful and goes exactly by the syllabus. You get 8 absences the whole semester and he does not ask any questions- lets you make up missed quizzes/exams during his office hours. His exams are straight from the readings/lectures. All around great guy!
I really enjoyed this class and professor. I also had him for Soc 450. The material is interesting and he breaks up constant lecture by showing videos and clips as well as having group activities. Take notes and go to class and you'll do great!
Pretty easy course but way less in depth than the other sociology courses. Tests are easy as well as the assignments. As long as you study for the tests and quizzes for about 20 minutes you will be fine.
Pretty easy if you pay attention and study the notes before the tests and quizzes. He knows a lot about his field and explains things pretty well.
Sherlock is a very good sociology professor. If you attend class, pay attention, and take notes, only a little studying is necessary for the tests. Tests are not cumulative and there is no cumulative final exam. Rarely need to read to understand material. Pretty easy course and overall great professor.
All around fantastic prof. Easy to understand, highly educated, and willing to help you out to get the grade you want. By far the best professor at SVSU.
Very good professor he can articulate the lessons very clearly and surprisingly simple. He gives you around 7 absences before he reduces your grade and goes over what will be on the tests. Pay attention and go to class write down good notes (usually anything on the board) and you should ace this class pretty easily.
Dr. Sherlock was an excellent professor for Social Psych. His lectures were really intriguing to listen to and the journal entries were relevant with the class curriculum. The exams were relatively easy and to the point. He even tells you what's on the exam, which is really helpful. Overall, great professor and very knowledgeable in his field.
I had Sherlock for Soc 111, and honestly he was one of the worst professors I have had. Tons of people seem to like him, but I think he was a bad professor. Nice funny guy, but never specific on what to study, long notes and lectures that are done at break neck speed, and tons of notes you have to study for his tests. Wouldn't recommend ever.
I'm an international student .. and Sociology is not my fav subject but with professor sherlock .. he made it somehow interesting and understandable subject he is well organized for lectures.. he is flexible with exam times and absences exams were straight forward from notes .. I really recommend his class
3 Exams & journals which each are worth 25% of your grade. Super clear study guides there is no way you could fail.. if you did just above minimal studying you can definitely get an A. 10 journals which are super easy, just answer questions on a sheet he gives and easy 100 points. Great prof!
Professor Sherlock is a good professor. There is no power point and taking notes is necessary, missing class is not a good idea because he does not post notes online. There are only 3 tests, and he gives a study guide before each test. Attend class, take notes and study and you will do well.
So I had Sherlock for a 3 hour sociology class which was extremely boring! Literally all you have to do to get an A is show up to class, write down everything he writes down and study a little bit. The tests may seem intimidating at first but I would play on my phone the entire time and i passed with an A. And theres no homework, only based on test
Sherlock was one of my favorite professors because I really learned in his class and he really has passion for what he talks about. I loved watching his face when people gave presentations because you could tell he loved it. You can definitely skip his class a few times and pass, but you'll have to do your own studying to make up for it.
Show up to class + write down everything he writes on board Passing with an A You do need to study the material, but he goes over exactly what will be on the exams the class before you take the exam. Easy to understand, clear-cut. Lots of videos in class, and journal assignments.
Tests are tough and Lectures are long but he tries
Good prof but class is completely lecture-based. No homework, but to pass you HAVE to go and take good notes. Class is out of 400 points- 3 100 pt. tests & 1 100 pt. journal. Tests consist of 6-7 "short" (long) answer ?'s (10 pt each) & 6-8 multiple choice ?'s (5 pt each). Journal is wksts from class & 1 group project (basically 100% if all done).
This is my favorite prof at SVSU! If you go to class and take good notes you will be golden. When he goes over the syllabus for what is on the tests, rewrite the notes you already took on different pieces of paper and study it. He gives you 100% of the information that will be on the tests in lectures. Final is not cummulative. Highly recommend!
I had a 3 hour Monday class and enjoyed it. Long lectures & less participation than some other sociology classes I've had, but I enjoyed that. It allowed me to focus most on listening and taking notes. Most importantly, he gives great reviews before tests, he makes sure you know exactly what to know. As an average student, I got 90+% on each test.
Very interesting lectures.
Professor Sherlock was one of my favorites this semester. He cares a lot about his students and makes the lectures entertaining with videos and activities. The exams are easy if you take good notes and go to lecture. He is very friendly and straight to the point.
He doesnt put grades in until last second, and he does it intentionally. He also is very monotone, and plays very boring videos. Good luck.
Overall, I feel that his classes were not especially difficult, however, if you don't show up to his lectures then you miss out on a lot. I found it best to jot down notes while he lectured because he did not use powerpoint. Also, I wouldn't invest in buying the textbooks, just pay attention to the lectures.
Pretty straightforward class. As long as you show up and take notes, you should be fine. Exams are fairly easy if you just study a little the night before. The final isn't cumulative. The only thing that was a little annoying is that he doesn't put grades in until the end. Overall, pretty clear-cut and interesting class!
Efficient and straightforward. Very knowledgeable about sociology, and truly teaches in an unbiased informative manner. Grades are based off of in class activities and three very straight-forward lecture based exams. You can miss class without if affecting your grade directly. You'll actually learn something useful to understanding the world.
He was pretty good. The class itself is kind of boring because he shows too many outdated movies and no one responds. His test questions are pretty clear cut and take minimal studying.
Sherlock doesn't put in grades and it is very frustrating. The lectures are boring and he shows a lot of movies. he is a nice man but is boring.
Dr. Sherlock wasn't too bad. I think what made it hard was that it was a 3 hour class. However class was made up of lecture and videos with readings. Not too hard, but the tests were kind of set up weird where he would give only the multiple choice section and then after that the essay portion but the tests wasn't hard.
The class is almost 100% lecture. I took a 3 hour class of his and although it was kinda boring, he added some interesting things in there such as videos to make it more interesting. Hes a bit monotone, but he definitely knows his stuff. For my class, there were only 4 grades for the entire semester. A bit scary, but ok if you study for the exams.
Professor Sherlock is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is very clear on what will be on the upcoming tests and has you use the syllabus as a study guide. There are 3 exams including the final and he has you do about 10 in-class journals, they are very easy. His tests are about 10-12 multiple choice and 5-6 short answer, easy as well.
I highly recommend this teacher for this class. I took this class online for a summer semester course and was pleasantly suprised on how organized the instuctor had the course laid out. I knew exactly what was expected of me each week as the instructions for each assignment along with the due dates were clearly laid out.
Steve shows videos on every chapter. His tests are very short so if you miss one question your grade has dropped by 5%. That being said his tests are very easy and the class before he tells you what is exactly on the tests so study that. I used the class period to work on other school work and still got an A in the class.
Lectures are very interesting, and he does a great job of breaking up what you do during the duration of his class. Tests are very easy, and textbook is not really necessary. Overall a great professor!
Makes lectures interesting. He gives notes, we watch movies, and work in groups for worksheets. Compared to other sociology teachers Ive heard about I would DEFINITELY take him.
He is an overall good teacher and person however his rating on here is very deceiving. I took him because he had a 4.5 BUT he is not organized with his lectures at all. He writes fast and acts like everybody knows what he means. His tests are exactly what's on the syllabus but he is very hard to correlate with the book. 78.5% is a B- though!!
Overall a good professor! He tells you exactly what will be on the tests with no surprises!!
I took both his in-class and online courses over the years. In class, he lectures a lot, shows some videos, and has only about 4-5 total grades which determine your final grade. But he's understandable and respectful. Not a hard class at all. For his online class, he's extremely straightforward and his assignments are easy. Would take again!
Sherlock's social psych class was honestly the easiest class I've ever taken. If you follow the instructions and do the work on time, you'll end up with a good grade. I lost two points the entire semester, and I barely had to try. The final was worth 10 points out of 400 so it barely counts, do the weekly work. He gives feedback every week.
Really nice guy, knows what he's talking about. His assignments line up with the material and I learned a lot. If you do the work you'll do well.
His handwriting is chicken scratch. The notes on the board do not align well at all. Just read the book.
Nice guy. Dont stop reading there. Get ready to read 40 pages per week and if you dont, ahaha good luck on exams. Exams have the weight of your entire grade. Highly suggest taking soc 111 with another professor. Great subject most boring professor.
It was an easy online class and very structured but very boring and I did not learn much, but I passed so that's a plus.
My experience with professor Sherlock was overwhelmingly positive. The lectures he gave were informative and dynamic. The tests he gave were not easy, but I was equipped with the knowledge I needed to pass them comfortably.
I loved this class. I found the lectures to be very interesting most of the time. GO TO CLASS. He covers everything in lecture and there are no available notes. What he goes over in class WILL be on the exam. He is clear about what will be on tests, which makes it easy to study. He's helpful and the class is easy to understand. Highly recommend.
This teacher was super nice and cool! Even when we went online due to COVID, he had control over everything and made sure we could still learn and succeed.
Sherlock was an amazing professor. I had no interest in sociology coming into this class but he made it very engaging. He is very clear on what will be on exams and there's never any surprises. He is an easy grader on in class assignments. He did great switching us online during COVID. I would recommend him to anyone who needs this class!
Professor Sherlock was a super entertaining teacher to have. He was honestly an easy grader and the information he gave you to study from was identical to all the tests and quizzes. It didn't take long hours of studying because he does a great job explaining thigs. Classes were a bit slow and he got easily distracted, but it was short class.
I took Dr. Sherlocks online class winter (2021) and LOVED the class. The work normally consisted of multiple choice questions for quizzes and homework, which were not timed! He also had maybe two lectures a week which were about 5-8 minutes long each. Super easy class and nice professor! Would highly recommend.
took this class online winter 2021 and it was super easy and laid back. The material consisted of little multiple choice homework assignments and a little quiz each week.
This online course was structured very well and included discussion posts & quizzes each week. Everything was laid out well and content was not too difficult. I would recommend this course - especially online.
His classes consist of mainly quizzes and discussions. The quizzes are easy and he is an easy grader. Highly recommend taking this professor and course, especially online.
Overall, this class was super easy. He posts the assignments a week or two in advance and I would just crank out the assignments then. Very easy online class. I would def take again. There is a textbook but you don't really need it. If you do chose to get the textbook, RENT FROM AMAZON
If you have/want to take social psych, definitely take it with him! Great, great guy! Weekly homework assignments that correspond with studies from the textbooks, but they're very easy and honestly super interesting! The Preves textbook has some great studies in it. You NEED the textbooks for this class, you can find the Scott one free online.
Professor Sherlock is a great and organized professor! He posted short online lectures and homework assignments that connected directly towards the lecture. There wasn't much homework in this class other than weekly assignments. He made sure that all students knew how to contact him if we had any questions.
A great professor! Great online lectures and very straightforward assignments. Online lectures also have written scripts that go along with the videos that are easy to refer back to. Great class organization.
Not much can be said about him as it's online, and honestly you'll never need to reach out as the class is easy. Don't bother buying the textbook, you're wasting your money. He also maakes you come to class for the first two days of the year for no reason.
Take this professor if you need the credit!! He's really mastered the format of online learning, his modules & online lectures were straight to the point. Everything was open note and don't buy the textbook, look up the answers instead, don't waste your money. Great guy, cares about his students!! Material wasn't very difficult and was engaging : )
Dr Sherlock made SOC327 super easy and graded extremely fairly on all writing assignments. he wants his students to succeed and isn't there to fail students like some professors seem to be. He even had the final be open note.
This class is super easy. You do not need the textbook. Everything is online except the first two days of class. He is an easy grader. No essay, just a couple paragraph assignments and disscussion boards. Everything is really organized too.
Professor Sherlock is a great professor and this is my second time taking a class with him. There is always some reading and short lectures to watch each week (also comes with transcript so if you choose to read it instead or follow along, super helpful). This class is an easy A if you follow along and do your work as expected.
I really enjoyed this class and would love to take one with Sherlock again! There are 4-5 weekly assignments and the final exam is open book. The assignments are relatively easy. Wouldn't recommend as a summer class if you're working full-time. Lots of reading and a few discussion boards. I'm not a huge reader, but a lot of it I actually enjoyed.
This class with Professor Sherlock was a breeze! The course was very clearly structured and easy to follow. The assignments and quizzes were bite sized. I felt like I could easily ask questions if I had them, and the content matched up with the textbook. As long as you do the work you will do fine! I had a great time in this course.
Very upfront and clear class. He's a G.
Professor Sherlock is a great online professor to take. This was the second class that I have taken with him and I have had a good experience both times. His assignments are very straightforward and don't take up too much time. He grades very quickly and gives feedback to everything. Definitely need the books for his assignments.
Online class completely open book. 1-3 assignments per week very easy if you listen to his recorded lectures (2-10 minutes long) gives solid feedback on almost every assignment. Lectures are monotone and kinda boring but short and simple.
Very simple for an online class. 1-3 assignments per week which is nice. Only saw him the first week of school.
This was the easiest class I took. The work always lined up with the lecture, and it was interesting to me at least.
Very easy class. Just do the homework and you will be just fine. Gives you a week to do the assignments. Everything is open book/open notes. He was very nice and always answered your questions fast. Highly recommend.
If you need to take Soc 111, take him!! Super easy class, only met in person for the first two lectures and then the rest of the class was done online with posted video lectures. No midterm, only a final but it was online and was easy. Notes and book are useful but not necessary to pass.
Super easy class! Just do the assignments and you're golden. The lectures are short and straightforward. Used unstuck study for quick prep and it was a huge help alongside the textbook.
SUPER easy class, no wiggle room on grades though because everything is multiple choice. Wouldn't take this again just because I don't feel like I learned anything valuable that I didn't learn in high school. Easy blow-off class to take as a gen-ed though. Dr. Sherlock was generally easy to work with apart from the aforementioned grading.
VERY VERY easy assignments that don't take long to do. He gives feedback on each assignment to let you know what you got wrong. You're allowed to use the textbook and modules on quizzes and such which makes this course really easy.
Class was very easy. Read a chapter a week and watch a short 10 minute video and answer 5-10 questions. Everything is online, and gives good feedback. Would take again.
Dr. Sherlock's class is incredibly easy. He has you meet the first week in person, and the rest of the course is online. He gives 2-4 short assignments per week and they take 15 minutes max each. He's a nice guy too and wants his students to do good.
VERY EASY! If you are only taking this to fill a gen. ed, DO IT! However if you actually want to learn in depth sociology for a major or something, wouldn't recommend. As I said very simple work, mostly just looked stuff up in the textbook. Open book/Open note exams!
This class was so easy, had 2-3 assignments/quizzes per week and they're all open notes, no lockdown browser at all. The final exam is also open note. We only met the first week of the semester and the rest was online. If you're looking to take this class as a gen ed you're making a great decision if you take it.
Professor Sherlock was an amazing professor. It was online, but the first 2 classes were in person. 2 assignments each week due on Mondays. Short lecture videos. Textbook is highly recommended due to needing to know terms. There is a final exam
Class was online and was soooo easy! He's also a super nice guy and always responded and gave feedback. Def recommend if you need to take Sociology for credit!
Amazing professor
Dr. Sherlock is a great professor. You attend class in person twice and then it's completely online. The assignments are very simple, and he gives more than enough time to complete them. However, if you're looking for a class with in-depth info, this course is more of a summarized overview. He mentions getting the textbook, but it isn't necessary.
