strict attendence optional homework

Tests are mirror images of his chapter reviews. His book provides the most straight forward approach to mathmatics. The guy has like 10 different degress. Show little tolerance towards slackers.Has kind of a gilligan feel to him. Oh..Oh..OKAYY

His is strange, but if you follow his rules and actually study, this class is not difficult with him. His finals was a killer, but if you do well on the midterms and quizes, you can get D on the final and still get A in the class

By far, one of my favorite professors and one of the best. Don't let anyone tell you different. He is extremely fair as long as you DO EXACTLY WHAT THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY. If you can't follow directions, go somewhere else. He is very clear and makes DE easy

He is clear, and his test are straight forward. You must be rigourous on the test and labs. Do not leave anything( steps ) out. Do EXACTLY what the directions say. It is impossible to get perfect scores on the labs.

Great Math teacher, knows his stuff. Be sure to attend every class if you want to take him. Do the homework even though it is not collected.

hes a really good teacher..he gives practice tests that are exactly like the tests.. attendance is opitional and so is the homework.. its an easy class

he is a good teacher but goes too fast so if u were sick for a week then you are way behing his tests are easy but he grades them with no mercy

Extremely straightforward class. Don't argue with him, he'll just give you attitude. Sticks to his stated class expectations, does not deviate. Reasonable amount of info to learn, will not go beyond material covered in class. Typical engineer type.

Just do your HW, and the tests are easy. Pass all exams with a 70 or more and the finial is optional. Suggest CR/NCR O'yeah!, DON'T MISS CLASS. Don't buy book. Take good notes.

He's tough but I thought fair Doesn't waste time. I preferred him to Hada, but I'm the minority opinion on that. If you need someone to "make it fun", Hada's your guy. If you're reasonably good at math and just wanna get it done, take Sworder

This class is not a fun class. There is alot of work and you have to do the HOMEWORK in order to survive.Even thoughit is not graded.He knows what he is talking about and I suggest going to office hours. He will help you but still alot of work. Study!

sworder definately knows what he is talking about. lessons are good. but beware he takes no crap from anyone and he will show you attitude if sleep in his class or try to leave early.

i never like Math!since i took Dr. sworder's class, i never miss his class, because i start like Math. if you really want to study, take his class, if don't, then don't try!

Sworder is freaking hilarious (only when he wants to be though) this guy is a random genius who most definitley knows his stuff! If you really want te learn math instead of just doing it to get it over with, he is your man. STUDY STUDY STUDY . .I think he is an awesome teacher who knows his****!!!

those people don't know what they are talking about. they're obviously too naive to realize that sworder is one of the best math teachers out there. he genuinely wants to help students...and genuinly wants people to succeed in his class.

A nice teacher, but way too strict. You can't even take a sip of water in his class. He grades like a computer would grade you - he expects perfection. He took off stupid points on my tests such as getting an answer wrong by .1 WITHOUT THE USE OF A CALCULATOR!! WTF IS THAT!?

I got a B in math 251 while my brother got a D because he was 2 questions away from a C in 253 owever I was 4 questions away and I passed so take him in 253 and not 251

you will like him if your good at math. He is very funny and teaches very well but his test are very difficult.

Anyone who sits and talks about how hard Dr. Sworders classes are is full of it. Dr. Sworder is one of the most intelligent, dedicated math professors I have ever had, and renewed my interest in the subject. I didn't have a problem getting A's in both classes I took with him, I just came to class and did my homework. He answered any questions I had

He knows what he's talking about, but he has a hard time puting it into words for you. Willing to help after class for more clarity. LEARN what he teaches you, and you'll pass the test.

He is very interesting to listen to which is great for an evening math class. He also wrote the book. Excellent teacher!

Dr. Sworder is a great teacher! having taken him for the hardest math class offered at saddleback, i can only say he was fair and concise. he gives partial credit where it's deserved, and is very approachable!! Thanks Dr. Sworder!!

he had a very dry sense of humor, a very hilarious guy, he made going to math class fun and something to look forward to.

you guys are stupid. he helps out plus if u dont get something just ask and he'll do it on the board no questions asked. he helps out after class and the tests are only 20 questions. yes he does have a slight case of a.d.d but who doesnt. he teachs math. enough said.

He explains the material very well (IMO) i didnt pass his class the first time! But that was my fault not his, i took him again the next semester and got a B. If you think his humor sucks, then you are in for a rude awackening when you get into math further. Option of mult choice tests, or a fill in (do the fill in, you get points for everything)

What a fun I had on his lectures. Really easy to study with such a nice professor

He is a very good teacher, explains things well. He lectures everyday if you take notes or get the notes and study for the tests which you have only 4 and then a final no midterm though. He is very thorough in the lectures and he teaches math very well. He is a hard grader but not if you take the scantron because you get a choice.Hes kind of weir

His lectures are very thorough and he goes through every step of a problem, so the materials pretty easy to understand. He is a little wierd, but he means well and is really a nice person. Does get a little boring, but what math class doesn't. Overall a good teacher.

Looks like a disgruntled student is repeatedly leaving Sworder negative feedback (I see the same thing being said over and over, and it's complete ****.) Sworder is a patient and clear lecturer, and has a ton of experience. I suck at math (bad) and walked away from int alg with an A. If you just attend class and do the homework you'll be fine.

I am really bad in math and had alot going on in life during this class. I went to him and asked for help, and he is the most dedicated and devoted teacher I have ever met. He took his office hour times and helped/tutored me. I recommend everyone to take him!

Mr. S is a good prof. attending class is key. If you need extra help, he 's always in during his office hours and willing to help. He lets you choose the form of your exam, mutli choice or free form. He very fair in grading the "free-form" exam but on the multi choice exam you get no credit for work shown so be wise.

Wasn't very excited to take this class prior to the semester, but I'm satisfied with it & it's been half the semester. He's a very straightforward teacher, no BS on anything. Doesn't do attend., or collect hw. Just show up, take notes, and show up on exam, that's it. He's a little harsh on grading tests, but know the material and you'll do fine.

He teaches in an enormous amount of detail. Because he goes STEP by STEP sometimes class got very tedious. I took the first class in the morning, and I like to drink coffee during class. He is definitely the strictest Professor I know as far as NOT allowing not even a sip of water during class. If you are looking for an easy Professor do not take him. A great thing about his class, is that you take four test and if you are happy with your grade you have the option to not take the final.

Mr. Sworder is hard to understand but ver patient with questions, doesnt do attendence or h/w, but you have to do EVERY h/w assignment to pass, tests are super tricky but not the actual math is not to bad

He is so awesome. Most people who don't do well write him off the first day and don't go to class. He starts slow but he gives you a solid foundation for the class. I've struggled with Math my whole life and now I'm in statistics and I know it's because of the background he gave me. You may know algebra, but he makes you completely understand it.

He is a great gentleman and a great teacher. You will learn alot from him. If you want a professional job and want to go to UC school take his class.IT WORTH IT. You need the descipline and you will learn it in his class.I loved it. Take him, he is very smart.

prof sworder was one of the most patient teachers I have ever had. he was always willing to stay after and help with questions or talk to you during or even not during his office hours. he is completely clear in his explanations of things. I think he should teach all subjects in school. take any of his classes!! excellent teacher!!!

The best teacher I have ever had! Very clear and helpful! I would take more classes with him if I could. I love his teaching style; very organized. There is no better teacher in my opinion.

Mr. Sworder is the best teacher I have ever had! He's really clear and precise. He starts from the bottom to give you a foundation of understanding which is very helpful especially when math is all a blur to you. Don't be late for class, don't leave early, and do all your work and you'll be fine. You need to be willing to learn and he'll help you.

Very nice man, very funny but requires attendance. Tries to be helpful and wants you to do well. Gets very mad at people who just walk out of class. Even though I didnt pass I would still recommend him.

this teacher is such a square.Dont bother bringing water..i know right..the material is pretty easy and tests arent that bad. i recommend doing some of the hw its not required though.He loves going step by step so if your into that, then take him. Otherwise he has no good tricks or easier steps.

He's very good at explaining things, and gives you all the tools to learn the material and pass the class. The tests are easy too.

took him for trigonometry and thought he was a really good teacher. he wrote his own textbook for the class which was really helpful. it had the answers in the back and how to work the problems out. do the hw or else you'll get really lost. 3 tests count out of 4. i got a B and didnt have to take the final

Doesn't really have much explanation for problems other than the way he teaches it in class. Didn't get above a 67 on any test and I did all hw and attended every class. Not a bad teacher, but if you are not really good in math, don't take him!

If you show up to class and are responsible you should do well. Very smart guy, his life is math! Down to answer questions after class, cool guy!

I had sworder's 10:30 trig so i dropped it (parking is terrible!). He is a really nice guy, he seems to enjoy math and teaching. I had a hard time understanding his lectures, and he assigns seats which sucks because if you're late the first day and you normally like sitting in the front you can forget about it. as a person: awesome; teacher: meh

If you're good at math, you wouldn't be in 124. Anyways, he isn't as sharp as he use to but he's been dealing with a lot of health issues. Exams are directly from the hw. So if you do the hw, you should get an A. 5 exams but you don't take the final if you've done well in the prior exams. Good guy and he means well but not as sharp as he use to be.

I had never been good at math prior to taking his classes. Every problem was broken down to its basic form, making it easy for us nonmath people to understand. After his class I honestly loved math. So far, I haven't had other professors like him. To me he was pretty funny.

Sworder is a good professor. This is college and one must put in the time, especially in Math. I enjoyed his class and he went out of his way to help me. In fact, he is one of my favorites.

I took a professor for Math at LB State and Sworder ranks just like them! Dudes, if you guys can't handle him then don't even consider transferring to a 4-year because you won't make it! Study and you will be fine. Slack off and you won't!!!

I tried to crack Engineering Calculus 3A 3 times at 2 different colleges. Dr. Sworder enabled me to firmly establish the foundations to excel in the engineering program. Our homework was even # problems. In the time after his lecture he would solve any problem we asked. We A students chose the hardest and odd # ones. He taught us to shred problems

I would put myself to sleep by reading a few pages from my stat textbook. In the world as it is, I made about a meelion in the 6 years after I aced this class. I always did all the hw. Dr. Sworder stepped through the proofs in correct detail and was available to solve hw with the class and individually.
