Toner is most excellent! Great person. Doesn't give HW, so grade relies on tests

He was one of my favorite teachers. He explained problems, had challenging assignments and was there to offer assistance.

Mr. Toner gives you different ways of solving equations so that if you don't understand one way, you will certianly understand another. He is a very kind, patient and thorough instructor.

He's great! Would highly recommend him.

Besides what has alreayd been said, MR. Toner is an interesting teacher; he makes math fun. He is able to explain abstract, and confusing conepts in a clear way so that anybody can grasp the topic. As for any negative comments; they're ubsurd! You'd have to be severely mentally handicapped not to understand him!

Stats starts up interesting, but ends up to be a pain. At times, Toner would start an example but there would be a flaw somewhere near the start that would result in an incorrect answer. At times, he will become excited about the subject and start teaching quickly. He has toned down his class quite a bit. He now gives smiley faces for good scores.

He is an awesome teacher and gets excited about the subject material. He teaches at a fast past, so better keep up on the homework and reading. He gives a good review for each test which helps emmensely.

His teaching skills are awesome. He makes the class fun!! He is very cautious to make sure that everyone in the class understands the material. He's one of the few teachers that makes the subject easy to learn for everyone. Awsome job!!

He makes Calculus fun. Some corny jokes, but keeps it interesting. Tests are challenging, but not impossible. Doesn't teach straight from the book ---tries to show short cuts and easier ways of handling this VERY difficult material. Very helpful and available during office hours. Would definitely recommend him!

Toner is the best teacher to take for any math class he teaches. The way he teaches the class you don't even need to read the book!! Just take good notes and go straight to the homework questions in the book!

Great at explaining math to those who don't understand it. Makes it very clear. Beware pitfall: he makes you think your grade is better than it is, so don't slack. He will work very hard to help you understand both in and out of class.

Professor Toner was amazing as a teacher. His methods of helping the students understand the material is awesome. He has created some of his own methods for teaching certain algebraic ideas. He is also laid back and fu. I highly recommend this professor to those who must take any algebra class, you will never stuggle with the subject again.

He screwed me!!!! I built my entire schedule around his class and then he leaves. I would give anything to have him back. One of the greatest teachers I have ever had. If you have a chance to take him at any level, jump on it!!! A+++

Professor Toner was an awesome teacher. I took his summer college algebra and trig classes this summer. Explainations were crystal clear and if you dont understand a concept, he tries his best to explain it in another way until you get it. Mr. Toner was a fantastic teacher. I took his trig. class this summer and instead of feeling like it was a drag it was fun. He had an extremely upbeat personality and he was completely helpful. His grading was very fair and I would take another one of this classes in a heart beat. His favorite word is essentially. =)

Professor Toner is by far the best math professor at VVC. His tests may not be easy; however, he is always willing to answer questions. He grades and posts tests roughly within 24hrs of taking it. He even has a website to help people who may be struggling with certain chapters. He really goes out of his way to help students. Highly recommended

Mr. Toner is an awesome teacher. I absolutely detest mathematics, but after taking him for three sections I've developed quite an interest in the subject. Mr Toner is tough, but fair. He wants everyone to pass and purposely goes out of his way to ensure your success. If you're uncertain about Math, please, do yourself a favor and take Mr. Toner.

Makes a horrible section of math interesting and easy. Is very helpful and clear in his teaching style. Starts classes of with little cartoons or personal anecdotes. Exams are easy, his grading is negotiable. If you do the homework and pay attention in class, you will get a good grade. And believe him when he says: "You have to know the wheel." :)

I was scared to death of math until I met this professor. He truly cares about his students; he is available to help all the time - not only during office hours, he'll even respond to emails within hours. Did anyone posting nasty comments even bother to ask him for help? If you don't study, it's not his fault if you get bad grades. He is awesome!

Mr. Toner is not a distant professor, but an extremely helpful teacher (in the best sense of the word). He makes math understandable, and border line enjoyable. Mr. Toner provides his students with every necessary tool to succeed- detailed notes, study sessions, office hours...etc. He is great!

Trig with Toner was the hardest math class I've ever taken. But calculus is easy for me now because Toner makes sure that all his students know their trig well. So if you need calculus, take him! He's an exceptional math teacher.

Mr. Toner was totally set up for leading an online class, eml answers within a day, replies to comments within a day, included his own notes & videos and offered help all the time. Very personable & approachable!

Stoner's a great teacher. ALEKS Sucks! the online program that he uses really stinks. i logged 40 hours on that thing take the 16 week course, more time for your pie!

Extremely amazing professor. Provides video lectures of his own teachings for online classes. Aleks is an amazing tool he uses to help you learn, it's not the easiest program since it makes you actually do some work. But you can actually LEARN rather than just 'get the jist of it'. HIGHLY recommend this online 16-week class with Professor Toner!

I took Prof. Toner for Math 50 online and found the class extremely easy. He does use Aleks, which can take up a lot of time (depending on how good you are with math), but he provides video lecture notes to make sure you understand the material.I never bought the book because you don't even really need it. Overall, the class was great!

I failed this class the first time I took it. Mr. Toner wants to see his students succeed, and gives us the opportunities to do just that. I was always emailing him, and he always responded back to me quickly. I appreciate all the help he gave me, and the chance to pass this class. It wasn't easy for me, it was a lot of work. I am glad it's over!

I took him for both 105 and a summer trig class. He is a PHENOMENAL teacher. By far THE BEST teacher at VVC. He cares about his students, is available after hours, know his stuff, explains everything in an extremely accessible manner and much more. I have never seen him get irritated with a student or mind repeating himself. AMAZING TEACHER

I had him for College Algebra and Trig and i would take him every chance I got.AMAZING teacher. Super nice guy. He makes sure to clear explain everything. Willing to help. Makes class interesting and fun.

He should credit all his online teachings to Aleks, because he doesnt teach you squat except maybe a 1 minute video, then you basically do everything on Aleks, which takes hours because its computerized. Taking his online class is like paying double for the course, you can just take these through Aleks, then transfer them to your college AFTER.

Provides numerous tools for students to study and memorize what's necessary and really emphasizes the important topics instead of wasting time with theoretical problems. Always willing to stop and explain what's going on.

Phenomenal! I took his stats class Spring '11 semester, and he was 100% helpful. I had a calculator different from the rest of the class and he took the time to help me one-on-one to show me how to work the programs. And he drops your lowest test score! I HIGHLY recommend him.

Took him for 105 and 104 (trig). AMAZING teacher. He is VERY clear and is fair. You have to put in some homework/study time, but you learn a lot. If you are going to move past 105 I STRONGLY recommend him. I am doing very well in Calc because of my good foundation with him in algebra and trig.

Not the way to an easy A, but an excellent teacher! If you plan to go to an upper level math class, his class prepares you for it very well. There is lots of homework, but it really helps you master the material. He genuinely cares about his students. Every week in class, he'd go around the room to each student and ask if we needed help on anything throughout the week. I thought that was very helpful! He is super funny! I really enjoyed his class, and was excited to come each week. Loved him!!!!

He is an awesome & funny professor. He goes out of his way to help his students. If you are looking for an easy A, this isn't the class for you. I'd sometimes spend 20+ hours a week on homework. All tests are online minus midterm/final and there's weekly quizzes in class so attendance is mandatory. Overall, I loved his class and learned a lot.

This class is a lot of work, and it is not easy. you need to put work into! But Mr. Toner is a great teacher! He is very helpful, and very very willing to help. He makes himself available to you at any time, and responds quickly to emails. He is also very friendly! I really loved him, and enjoyed being in his class!

This teacher is there when you need him. My strong subject is math and honestly the class was easy for me. The book basically taught me as the class went on. If I had a question he was always very quick to reply. I took the class online for spring. Overall he is a nice guy. I am planning on taking all online classes with him until proven otherwise.

This was a hybrid class. Prof. Toner is extremely helpful. Answering emails almost immediately any day of the week most any hour. He is also in his office at specified times. Professor Toner is a hard teacher, he has no test reviews and they were hard. You have to learn on your own by watching the video notes. The hybrid course is once a week and it's mostly in class group assignments, if you take this class be prepared because there's TONS of homework online. If you are not a genius be warned to avoid this class!

I do not recommend this instructor, he is a very nice guy and he responds quickly when someone emails him, but his tests are hard and he does NOT believe in reviews. His exams are hard and you have learn on your own by watching video lectures online. AVOID this class at ALL costs! If you are not a math genius, you will pay dearly.

Easy class. Whole bunch of busy work, but easy enough to succeed if you just put in the time to finish each assignment/test by the end of the week. The final exam is defined as a 'medium' difficulty, but if you actually did the assignments during the semester, they would come easy. Very pleasant. Easy to contact. Reasonable guy.

Ther was alot of homework in the accellerated online class so you have to stay up with it even get ahead. The teacher was great very helpfull. I would say better than any teacher before in comunication and responce time.

I took Professor Toners 8 week summer course. He is the best online teacher ever. When I hit a wall and found my self not understanding the material he was helpful and answered every email quickly. I am not a big fan of math and can honestly say my success this semester had a lot to do with Professor Toners teaching.

Took him for math 10 and he was very helpful, his class was not too hard but not too easy.. Math is not my best subject and with his teaching I was able to understand a lot and pass the course with a b!! Will be taking him again for math 42 :)

Prof Toner was an awesome teacher. His online course is very well layed out with his lecture videos. I took the accelerated Summer course. Could not have been happier with Prof Toner.

Prof. Toner is tough in Math 105 Hybrid, and you have to literally teach yourself, he is always there to respond to the emails, but in class there is always hard pop quizzes and timed exams online. Your final grade is 50% of the midterm and final, 30% online exams, 10% quiz, and 10% homework. If you are not a genius you will regret it.

I am so glad that I had Professor Toner for Math 42! He has thorough lectures for each section. He was always crystal clear whenever I had a question and responded to emails quickly. He always kept us up to date. Expect a lot of homework if you are taking the 8-week course. The final exam was quite easy, just do your homework and you'll be fine.

Very good class to take. Just keep up and you will be good.I took this class over the summer so there is work due every week like a chapter and a test every week, so I dont know if he works differently during springfall semester. It is a easy class so take it and you wont be disappointed.

Professor Toner was a great teacher, I struggle in math and thought an online class would be tough but his lectures are really clear and to the point. If you really pay attention and use the notes he has the hw and tests aren't that bad. You can really tell that he cares about his students.

Great instructor. Genuinely LOVES mathematics. Well rounded individual in a variety of topics. He goes above and BEYOND to make sure the material is understood. It is a 4 unit class, expect work. If you do not work, do not expect a great grade. That goes with all classes. You will not regret this professor.

I was very nervous to take an online math course and I am so happy I did! He makes it so easy to understand with his lecture videos and I love that I can do the work whenever I have time! Professor Toner is very helpful and is quick to respond to emails. He made Math105 and Math 120 really enjoyable and engaging. Test are tough but if you work hard and ask questions he is willing to help you understand tough concepts. Do all assigned work, study hard, and have good communication. No doubt you will pass his classes.

This professor was the best math professor I've taken yet, he explains everything plainly and shows you little tricks to learn it. A whole chapter and test are due every week so you have to be on your hw but that is all.

He helps a lot and takes time when you need it. He's good about responding to emails There is homework but its math you need to have homework in order to study. All in all I had a great time it was stressful but it is a corse i would take with him.

I've had Professor Toner for Math 42 (online) and Math 105 (hybrid). Half of his on campus classes are devoted to answering student's questions , and he's actually willing to go over questions as many times as necessary for it to make sense to the student. Doing notes from his video lectures is essential to passing.

Honestly such a great Professor, I hate math but due to his online lectures I passed with an A. I've heard horror stories about other 120 professors, so I'd highly recommend Toner.

I had him when my original professor had to get surgery, so the layout of the course was based on what the original professor wanted. He was absolutely a great teacher! Made sure you understood, if you didnt he would help you get through it. Gave out extra credit. Makes you laugh! Totally understanding guy.

He has the class set up well on blackboard. You must watch the lectures do the homework and when you have questions he is available by email or in person. He is quick to respond and you can tell he loves what he does! Great professor.

I'm not a math/sci major but I'm glad I took it with Toner. He's very engaging, works through problems, and is always available for tutoring outside of the classroom. For test reviews he often let us bring our own homework problems to solve in class. Do the homework, it counts as a full test grade. Tests are alright. I would take him again.

Toner is fun and charismatic, but his winter class for statistics is tough. While he does a good job of explaining the material, we were also required to watch up to an hour's worth of video lectures each day and take notes on top of homework. Would recommend him under most circumstances, but do not recommend taking statistics over 6 weeks.

He's passionate about his subject, and he uses lots of class activities to keep things interesting. He also goes over the homework to help you understand your mistakes. I took the six-week class, and some days there was a lot of homework, but overall he's a great teacher and I'd definitely recommend him.

Math is not an easy subject for me and with my busy schedule I decided to brave it and take my class online. I'm so thankful that professor Toner has been my online teacher! He's very clear with what he needs and he has been very caring and understanding throughout my course. He helps you and is very quick to respond to your emails .

Prof. Toner is a very clear, concise, & overall great teacher, I took his College Algebra course & currently Stats Hybrid, the course lectures are provided online, that is the only part that is online other than the notes & hw that you have to print out, and during class its 1 quiz and class activity. I took the 8 week class and it's a lot work and stressful. Each unit included a few homework assignments, a test, and a discussion post on webadvisor. The final is on campus and fairly easy. Mr. Toner is a great teacher who helped me in the subject I struggle most in & has videos on every problem. I reccomend him, but take a 16 week class.

I took his math 42 class online and I'm not the best at math but he provides videos lectures that explain everything and helps tremendously. He is very accessible and is willing to work with you. There were chapter tests online and a final that you have to go to campus for which is a little annoying but he is willing to work with you. Great teacher

Took his winter 18 Stat 120 course. His online videos for the chapter notes are very helpful. If you dont understand whats going on in class, dont worry. He has a video online covering the entire thing! Very knowledgeable and has an obvious passion for math. Grades work like literally the same day. Tests too! Hilarious guy. I highly recommend.

I took intro stats winter hybrid. It's a tough class if math and critical thinking is not your thing. Especially challenging since its a short term. But do your work, put forth all your effort & you'll pass. Toner is a good teacher. He does what he says he's going to do (can't say that for many prof's at VVC) He is funny and keeps class interesting

Toner is a professor who works hard to help you to understand the mechanics of Algebra regardless of the question. During his class he will field any question and will exhaustively work through problems until you understand the concept in play. His teaching style and the way he interacts with students makes you feel respected as a student.

Professor Toner is a Great teacher. I took him for Math 42 online and his hybrid Math 90. He really makes sure that you understand the material and what he expects of you from his class. If you stay consistent and do the work he will help you by any means! Hes math videos are very helpful. Online and hybrid classes do contain a lot of homework.

Toners class is so organized on connect, all of the problems are chosen by him. Even though there arent any study guides for tests they are easier than you expect and he does review in class. Lectures were fun and quizzes are 4 questions each on socrative app. Its us vs the material not us vs him. Got an A.

Prof Toner is an amazing teacher! I read other comments saying he is "too busy" for his students which is untrue. Every class he anticipates for students to ask questions so he can better explain it to them. On top of that I love how fast he replies to emails, usually within same hour! I'm HORRIBLE at math, but this class was tolerable for winter.

Mr. Toner was a great teacher and tried to make sure everyone would pass. He made his class interesing by cracking jokes and having the class participate. He also gave us a break near the middle of class. which was nice. I took his class during winter, and thought I'd die because of the qorkload but honestly it wasn't bad. Just stay caught up. ��

I have taken his for Math 90 and Math 120. He has amazing lectures online, they are easy to follow along. In class he takes time to make sure every student understands.

Professor Toner is a real gem to take Statistics. He has very thorough video lectures online that are then reviewed the next day in class. The homework is custom tailored to compliment the lectures so it never feels like you're doing busy work just for the sake of doing work. Teacher who cares about his students.

Failed Math105 a couple of times? Yeah, this professor will help you get through it! Great experience, very straight forward with how he runs his class, and most of all he is understanding. Offered extra credit, and is more than happy to answer any questions you have about lecture. Work was not bad at all, just remember to study and you'll be good.

He's extremely straight forward, the homework is very clear, and most of your grade is effort based. As long as you actually TRY to do the work, you will get credit. The exams are a little tough but he prepares you very well for them.

I found him to be great. It was a hybrid course lots of lecturing on videos, and class time he clarifies. This man really WANTS everyone to pass, If you get anything below a C you didnt try. Complete ALL assignments, and even if you fail all exams, you can still pass. Do ALL the work doesnt matter if its incorrect. Tons of extra credit. Good teach.

I am not a sabie person for math but he makes smooth, he really tries to help you pass. He prefers you to put an effort and will give you points for that. Extra credit offered with paper slip from the math lab on HW. Doing all assignments online will probably save you in passing when having low scores on tests. No expensive book needed a big plus.

Awesome Professor ! He really cares about his students learning, always looking for ways to improve his teaching techniques. This is a college course so youll be expected to work hard, lots of assignments to better help you understand the material but it is doable. Do ALL the assignments and watch his lecture videos more than once before class.

Professor Toner is a great professor over at VVC! He made learning stats easy with his online videos and printable notes. He genuinely cares for students and is always updating his class course with input of his students. As long as you do all the homework, online quizzes, and the project at the end of the semester you should be fine!

He really gives you opportunities to learn and goes over things you may not understand. Before tests, he walks through all the homework questions so that you can understand everything. One big plus is he encourages use of the MathLab to utilize the tutors there and earn extra credit. Fantastic teacher! He has a real passion for statistics!

I took this hybrid class during Covid-19 Pandemic. Professor Toner made it happen by doing class online through zoom. It was an interesting way of having lecture in the comfort of my home. He is passionate about what he teaches just show up and do your part, he is very clear on what is expected.

Math is not my best subject but Professor Toner really took his time and found ways to teach throughout the stay at home order that made it easy for everyone to understand. Even if you fail the exams but try on everything else, you will pass! He is a great professor!

I was in Steven's class during COVID-19 and he's the best math teacher I've had. I'm not a math person, but because he took the time to explain the concepts, I had an easier time grasping the material. He gives answers to questions within a few minutes and clear feedback on areas you may need improvement in. Would absolutely take this course again

Had I known Professor Toner was such a great teacher, I would have taken him for other math classes. I can see why he has been teaching so long. His teaching style is to ensure that you learn. You have to work hard but it is designed to aide in learning.

His class is very interactive, so participation matters. This class really made me work for my grade, however he provides tutoring, extra help, and is very encouraging. Although there is a lot of Homework it is all beneficial! I wouldn't consider myself a "math person" but he makes the course enjoyable and is very caring towards his students!10/10

Im not great at math at all, but Mr. Toner made it to where as long as you were trying you should still be able to pass if you were doing all your work and putting in effort. I like that you dont need to purchase a book and he provides guided notes for you. I would definitely recommend him if your the type who struggles with math.

Professor Toner was a great teacher. We had to be online because of COVID but that never stopped the humorous stories and real life scenarios that made understanding the lessons that much more fun.

If you are anywhere near the High Desert, and need a stats class, this is the one I would take. If you're already proficient in math, feel free to look around but if you're putting it off because you struggle in math, Steve's your guy. Beware the heavy workload FROM THE JUMP! Once you get used to things you can adjust but don't fall behind. Study!

Took Prof. Toner as one of my first classes going back to college. He made it such a joy to be in school again. He engaged the class with extremely nerdy jokes and was eager for participation. Highly recommend using your voice and asking questions, he is eager to help. It is a heavy workload from the get-go, but he goes above and beyond to help you

good math class and professor. however, don't be confused- there is a lot of work and it's extremely important not to procrastinate. the class runs on a pretty identical schedule every week so it's easy to get in a routine. the grading is easy and forgiving as long as you're doing your work. toner is also friendly and will work with you on request

I took professor Toner's class the semester of the covid lockdown in the spring of 2021 and my advice to you is to put in the hard study hours and you will be fine. I am not that smart and I passed his class. Where there is a will there is a way, if I can do it so can you.
