Tests are a little hard, grading scale is very leniant. There is a lot of interesting info and he plays a video every single class. He's funny too.

If you study for the class, it is really easy. If you are taking it for an easy 'A', then forget it and take something else.

I've taken alot of his classes. The key to doing well is actually going to class.

i love this professor. i think he is a great great teacher. the class is only hard if you make it be. go to class, study for teh tests, and you'll pull of a B easily. i'm not a big studier and i got 80s on both the tests. it's really not that hard! i would strongly suggest taking this professor, but DO come to class. it makes a difference.

this is the second class i've taken with him. his classes are NOT EASY...but they are very very intersting. You'll have to study more for a decent grade in this class..but you'll actually enjoy class because he makes it intersting and has a very good attitude! If given the opportunity, I would definately take another of his classes!

This is probably one of the most intersting classes you can take with one of the University's brighest professor. The material requires study time, but this is one of the few occassions you feel inclined to study. He's very helpful and receptive.

There's something to say about a professor that's favored by students even with a mediocre grade. Williams is energetic, helpful, and clear. The more you put into his classes, the more you'll get in return. Take the class, go to lecture, read the book, study, and you'll be surprised by how much you enjoy the classes.

I love this teacher. He is funny, always has a short videa for you to watch to help you understand the topic more, and has a sexy accent lol. He is very helpful and the stuff he teaches is very easy. Before each test he gives you a list of whats on the exam.

He is very easy to understand, and makes sociology interesting. You have in class assignments, but you get to use your notes. You even get points for going to class, and sometimes double points if not many people show up to class.

It's certainly one way to get me to come to class! His teaching style is very effective for me. He is funny, interesting, and will get your attention. Just don't fall asleep in class!

Dr. Williams is very smart, hilarious, and makes sociology so interesting. He's one of those professors who knows AND loves the material. Because of him, I've decided to go from majoring in just political science to a double in political science and sociology. TAKE ANY CLASS THIS MAN TEACHES; I promise it will be interesting.

His classes are very interesting and I enjoyed coming to every class. His tests can be a little difficult but not too bad. Most of the material is covered in notes and some in the book. I will admit... I didnt buy the book and I walked away from the class with a B. Sometime during the semester he will talk about hockey and Canadians love for it!

by far the coolest teacher at usi! he's great and the last weeks we only talked about bob marley & music! you can miss lots of class and still get by! just take goooood notes! tests are pretty much note based so make sure you know them.

Very cool guy. Lectures are interesting, the writing assignments are easy, you just gotta study for the test. You do not necessarily have to read the book, just make sure you have it so you can look things up when you are putting together a study guide for your tests.

You'll probably learn more about need to know college information with this guy in this class than any other. Probably the best professor I've ever had.

Very good teacher. Loves the subject and makes it interesting when you go to class. I actually liked coming to this class, but the lectures can get a little long sometimes. Use your laptop for notes or else you will get cramps in your hand. He is the best teacher I have ever had in my life, he is brilliant. If you are really interested in Sociology then take him, BUT there is a lot of reading and studying, you need to commit but its totall worth it.... Not to mention he is sexy as all get out ;)

Excellent professor. I had him in a class of 260+ people but he spoke with such an interesting, unbiased, and great sense of humor that I never felt ostracized. Lots of notes, but again, he made the subject so interesting that I never minded. Definitely recommend him for everyone.

This guy is amazing. He seems egotistical, but he really isn't. The books weren't really necessary for Classical theory class, but make sure you get all the notes. Your hands will cramp whether you write to type! He isn't the type that you look at and think hotness, but something about his intelligence and passion makes him incredibly sexy!

Very nice guy, although a bit strange. 5 mc tests, 3 in-class writing assignments, and offers up to 25 extra credit points. I skimmed through the chapters of the text and went over the lecture notes fairly well and pulled out a very very high A in the end. Take him very easy A!

By far my favorite teacher at USI. explains things so you understand, and if you dont will reword to make it clear. made something extremely difficult like classical theory easy to understand.

He's definitely passionate about his material and is pretty funny. He occasionally cancels class, which is nice. Make sure to come to class on the days there's an in-class assignment, but besides then, you don't really need to go if you can get the notes from someone, but I would definitely recommend just going to class anyway, it's quite good!

Hands down, excellent teacher. I was in his forum class, which for some may seem scary and impersonal, but he really draws you in and keeps you interested in the material. The tests are a little difficult at first because they are on an overhead projected on a screen. Though once you get the hang of it, there's no doubt to excel in this class.

He is really into what he teaches but it is just one of those topics that are super boring to me so I space out most of the time. But if you go to lecture and take notes and stay on top of the reading you'll do fine. This class is not cake work but it's not hell either. Great professor. Lectures were pretty interesting, but not mandatory (it's a forum class). There are 4 tests and the final is the non-cumulative 5th test. All of them have 50 scantron questions, about half from lecture and half from reading. Also 3 easy in-class assignments (1 pg paper). Would definitely recommend his class.

I would definitely recommend taking him! He was entertaining and kept class interesting. As long as you come to class, take notes, and read the chapters you should do fine! I had no trouble getting an A. :)

So this was an intro level class in Forum I, and it was a cakewalk. I'm a junior and have already taken a lot of upper level (long story why I'm taking this now), so this class was a cakewalk, and it should be for you too. He is clear and concise, and dresses better than most of us. My row calls him Swag Williams.

Go to the SI Sessions if one is there, it is very helpful and it will for sure help you!

This class persuaded me to change my major to sociology. The material is not hard at all if you study. There are SI sessions ran by his TA if you need extra help studying. If you go be warned, the TA is very rude and really doesn't understand the material, so go if you want to pass the the exams but if you actually want to learn see Dr. Williams.

Dr. Williams is by far my most favorite professor. He is so passionate about sociology and culture. His lectures are not posted online, so class attendance is a must. He is a really hard grader on exams, but I learned a ton in this class. Three exams (with study guides) and a paper, plus no textbook required. Awesome prof.

AMAZING! Best Professor I've ever had. Vey respected by all students and respects his students as well. He always makes class interesting and is very knowledgeable. He makes me want to "drop everything and become a sociologist."

He is a great professor with so much enthusiasm and truly loves what he teaches. He makes the class enjoyable and allows you to get up to 20 bonus points which really helps. His tests are very specific though, so you really have to work for it if you want to get a good grade.

You won't be bored. He is really great at making the class enjoyable even if he is talking to 250+ students at a time. Very interesting person and as open minded as he is intelligent. Clear study guides. Follow them and you will get an A.

Dr. Williams is the sociology professor everyone dreams about. He's hilarious and very entertaining, but he's also very informed in his subject and you will learn a lot. His tests are based 50-50 on lectures and independent reading of the book, so don't skip on the readings. He offers extra credit, and is very open with opportunities for it.

There were three tests and that is really about it for all of the grades. there may have been one or two in class "pop quizzes". Attendance is not mandatory after two weeks of the class.

Gives wonderful lectures however there is a lot of information. Gives a very broad study guide. Make sure you are reading the online book.

Dr. Williams loves and is knowledgeable about every topic he speaks about. He's proud of his area of study and his Race and Ethnicity class is no different. My favorite professor of my semester! Although you dont have to read, he assigns reading and it really helps you on the test if you read it. He lectures the whole class but makes it very interesting. You also get 2 or 3 chances for extra credit! The test are hard and youll have to study to get a good grade, but hes worth it!

Dr. Williams has the most intriguing lectures and makes class very enjoyable. Extra credit is offered fairly often thru on-campus events. Great professor for SOC 121. 4 exams each semester and 4 vocabulary quizzes, no homework grades. You have to study and pay attention in lecture but if you do that the tests will not seem as difficult. He gives study guides for each exam and offers a lot of extra credit.

Professor Williams is great at lectures. He is test heavy so be prepared to study and read your book. He offers 20 extra credit points. If you have test anxiety as I do, I recommend doing it! Otherwise a very enjoyable class.

This professor is an awesome teacher! Every class you could tell how much he loved sociology and he really made the lectures fun! He understands the struggle of being a student in today's world and as long as you read and attend the lectures it is really easy to get a good grade! He is also really funny!

Prof Williams is probably my favorite professor I've had. He is fun, cracking jokes in his lectures, emails, and even his tests. This is a lecture heavy class, if you don't go to ass you won't have the notes. The only grades we have are a couple tests and quizzes. I would definitely take another one of his classes just to have him again.

Williams is really good about not pushing his ideas onto his students. He tells you the facts and his lectures are interesting for the most part. Online tests are pretty much half lecture, half book, and he doesn't try and trick you. Pop quiz every couple of weeks, but he usually will warn you beforehand. Awkward jokes but great professor!

Great professor

idk how to explain it, but it seemed like he was destined to be teaching sociology. It just seemed like his passion. He does very well with large class sizes (mine was >100 students), and gives extra credit for those that are struggling. If you need to get a Core 39 credit out of the way, I'd highly recommend taking his class.

Professor Williams makes this class engaging and manageable. His lectures are entertaining, and the exams cover both lecture and textbook material. Attendance is key, and Unstuck ai is a great study aid alongside the textbook.

Dr. Williams is built to teach this class. He is very in touch with reality and down to earth. He does not try to trick you; he just lays out the facts and allows you to guide yourself through the new thoughts he is presenting. If you just show up to class, you will be fine! His quizzes and exams are easy if you just show up.

Dr. Williams has been my favorite professor during all my time at USI. His lectures are engaging no matter the topic and he is always open to discuss any questions or comments that come up during class. His tests in the intro classes are easy; if you take his 300 level courses, then expect to have a couple short essays and one long essay question.
