If you're not into sports you'll miss a lot of the analogies he makes.
Dr. Baron was a wonderful teacher. He truly cares more about you actually getting the material than anything else, and makes abstract psychological principles seem firm and understandable. He pulls no tricks in terms of grading, either- v. straightforward

Dr. Baron is arrogant and very rude. Never take him for any psy classes with him, you'll regret it. His tests are difficult and he spends more time speaking of his accomplishments than teaching.
Difficult tests and hard to follow notes. Notes require time downloading, and they are not truly effective in helping on exams. Paper required to pass class is 5-7 pages, and you must have at least 5 references.
Excellent teacher. Explains things in a way that is easy to grasp. Study guides, notes and lectures are very helpful for tests. The tests are long, but if you study and pay attention you will have no problem in his class. He really cares about helping you pass.
He is incredibly vague and arrogant about the fact that you did not read through his ambiguousness. Save yourself the time and money and skip this professor.

Very arrogant and self-involved. Dosn't respect anybody else's view on ANY subject. His notes were difficult to understand and we're not helpful at all. Don't waste you're time on him or his class, it's not worth it!
Dr.Baron is an self absorbed prick. He talks so much about his accomplishment and his genius family, it barely gives him time to teach the class. And dont even think about asking a question or making a comment because he'll look at you like you a idiot and keep talking.
I truly enjoyed his class & teaching style. His tests are not hard nor easy. Take notes and study his guides. I went from a 72 on first test to a 105 on the final! Emailed him several times for guidance on course material & he responded quickly-very helpful. If you put the effort and want to learn you will see his good side. =)
Dr. Baron was so hard and on top of that he was so boring. He talked down on you all the time and all he did was talk about his "perfect" family. God, i'm def not taking him for child psy.

I was at almost all of his classes, he failed me cause I sat in the corner of the class room and I was sick so i missed the mid-term and I dont drive so he made it MY fault that I couldnt come back an take it when HE wanted me to..DONT TAKE HIM U'LL FAIL

I had Baron for Child Psych and Social Psych. He is indeed mean and harsh but he is an excellent teacher. He really knows what he's talking about and will give you a good grade if you study/participate/ON TIME!!!!!! I can't stress that enough. HE HATES LATE PEOPE WITH A PASSION. But he is still a very good teacher and it is possible to get an A/B.

I found his class interesting and easy I did the work read the book and got an A and he hardly gave any homework. If you are not interested in the subject your not gonna like the class no matter who the teacher is.
The only people who do not like this professor are the LOSERS who do not come to class and expect an A. He is willing to help but only if you help yourself. YOUR IN COLLEGE PEOPLE!! Stop crying and start studying!
He is a great lecturer and his class is never boring. I learned alot. He is tough with his testing but he makes what he teaches stick with you. You will work in this class but learn so much from it. TESTS ARE HARD but worth it to be able to learn from him. He is very interactive with students in class, but hates to be challenged. Don't be late.

He is very passionate about the subject, and he transfers his enthusiasm to the students. The tests are not difficult if you study carefully. He has a great sense of humor, but he can also be temperamental at times. You just have to "roll with it". I liked how he used real-life personal examples to clarify the concepts.
His class is a breeze if you pay attention but he is the most arrogant, self-absorbed jerk. I have never, in my 2 years at Montco had any issues with any teacher until I took his class. He is **** and inappropriate.

I took his online class and wasted my time. He is horrible. He gives you time consuming tasks and he isnt clear at all about what he wants. He isnt helpful he doesnt answer questions and he expects way too much. People in grad classes for less then he ask of you in this class. Dont take him. He impossible.
I took his online course and he is horrible. His grading is the worst and his work is very time consuming. If you take two weeks and put all your hard effort into a task you still have wasted your time because your work is never going to meet his expectations. I wil never take his course again.

I did not like him at all. He is very rude and arrogant. Does not want to hear a word you have to say. You try to be nice to him but he is very unsocialable. I have heard him called students names like dumb, stupid etc. I never had that problem but thought it was very unfair of him. Would not ever take that class again.

He has a unique personalality but does talk about his family a lot, especially his amazing brother. But he has the right to brag. I took his summer intro to psychology class and it was a piece of cake for me, i took it my junior-summer while i was still in highschool and all i did was follow his outline w/ a few notes and it got me an A all tests
I am taking his online class right now, he assigns tedious and time consuming tasks and leaves you to fend for yourself. He also seems to be of the opinion that he is always right and he is perfect. Hate people like that, wouldn't recommend his class.
I loved Psychology until I took this teacher. He ruined it for me. He is a really big jerk! I considered reporting him to the dean. Don't take him!
he's a fantastic teacher, is able to relay what he wants to in an excellent fashion. i signed up for another class of his just because i loved his class so much. he led great class discussions that really got us thinking. would highly recommend him to anybody. you do have to keep up with the work or you will not do so hot. but hey, this is college
Dr. Baron is the best. He is a great proffessor, dad, and hub. He was always there for me when I needed him. we share a love of psycholgy, i was never so happy to be in a class. so, i would reccomed to nyone to go attend his psychology class. i absolutely loved him!!!
I took Dr. Baron's e-learning psy course. It wasn't easy, and he kept you on your toes. I throughly enjoyed the class, and felt he did an excellent job.
This guy is one of the smartest people ive ever met. Uses short stories as examples for almost every topic. Really good at explaining things. Class is a little tough but worth it. tells cool jokes
Worst teacher I have ever had. e-learning is great, but if you don't submit work to his EXACT standard 50%+ is taken from your grade. Along with posts from the chapter, a web review and observation has to be submitted, along with a project and 5 tests.
Mr Baron is undoubtedly the most egotistical, pompous and power-hungry professor I have ever had the displeasure to encounter. He leaves you in the dark regarding his unattainable goals while taking pride in degrading work w/o providing a tangible critique. MCCC is a lovely establishment, however, it's not Harvard; don't flatter yourself Mr Baron.

I took him two semesters ago and am still in turmoil over how much he turned me off to furthering my education. What a self absorbed person. He needs to be in a different proffesion. Dr. Baron is a great professor, he is very knowledgable and takes his job seriously. He made the class very interesting, if you know how to study then you should do well, but you do have to study and attend basically every class he has great real life examples.

I received an A in the class. Missed class only because of funerals. NOT understanding at all. One of the most arrogant, cocky, insensitive teachers I ever had in my life.Never had an experience like this in all of my years of schooling.
Very enjoyable teacher. He gets the material across while providing clear and concise examples to help relate. The most important thing is that you will learn no matter what. You will accumulate a lot of knowledge without having to deal with unnecessarily difficult exams. His sarcasm is just a front, don't take it seriously. Good stuff.
Online class-Sylabus is disorganized and hard to understand, but if we don't read it read it religiously we miss things like due dates with no pattern. Does not respond well to any sort of criticism. Freaked out at one unhappy student-very uncomfortable. Overall, just plain unpleasant. Didn't even say "hi" to us, just said "don't get behind."

Took online. He is the most hands on teacher I have had to date. Extremely involved in the students work. Grades on time, provides feedback in daily discussions. But the work was hard. Took in summer, every 3 days, had a boatload of work to turn in. Although the work was challenging, thoroughly enjoyed the class Great teacher.Love to meet him
Most frustrating and arrogant teacher ever. His sylabus is a disaster, yet he acts like it was written by the hand of god. Can't take criticism and freaks out at students that call him on anything. His assignments are well thought out, but dealing with him is not worth it. Though, since its PSY, you can always think of him as a built in case study.

Easy grader, but syllabus a mess and obsessed with font, margins, etc. Answers questions with questions...I was saying huh? alot and I have a BA degree already.

he wil make fun of you, any chance he gets. he grades you on attendence and showing up late. strict guidelines for papers and assignments. test are full of details. as long as you study and come to every class on time you shoudl be ok. but plan on studying a coupld hours for eac test and plan on gettign made fun of.
I didn't think I'd like Dr. Baron at first, but he grows on you. He's actually a very good prof. and his lectures are interesting...he just doesn't tolerate people's ****...so don't act like an idiot and you'll be fine. The only thing about this class I'd change is that attendance is 15% of your grade and lateness is counted as 1/2 an absence.

I took this class online. He is a really tough professor, but also fair. He has really strict guidelines about formating tests, homework, etc, but if you follow the rules you should do fine. He expects college level work from college students, not too much to ask is it? Make sure your assignments are double the length he asks with good info
WOW - this guy is truly full of himself. If you have a problem or question about his syllabus or assignments it would be easier to get answers from a corpse. I understand he is busy but come on Dr. Baron - you are a teacher - teach with a modicum of compasion and understanding. I am glad this course is on-line and I do not have to deal face to face

I took the online class, and right off was intimidated. The syllabus was extremely negative, almost as though he wanted you to quit. Exams very tough. He does not help much. No second chances, although he does allow 2 extra credit assignments. Don't know how he is in person, but he shouldn't be teaching an online class.
This guy is a mess. His syllabus is practically incomprehensible and when it is questioned for clarity, his response is, "The answer to your question is on the syllabus." Within the first couple days of class many students were obviously confused by the syllabus and rather than helping he indicated that no one was reading the syllabus. Drop him!
His class can be frustrating and the tests are pretty difficult and terribly written. If you try to learn and understand the concepts, you will do well. Not a good online professor; but, might be better in the classroom.
When I first started his class I almost dropped it because DOCTOR Baron was so arrogant, but I stuck around for the credit and ended up getting an A. Do the weekly assignments and study with the study guides and you'll do fine. He's all bark and no bite.
You will not like Dr. Baron. He doesn't want you to like him, he just wants you to learn the material. Do the assignments, study for the tests DAYS ahead, read assignment instructions CAREFULLY and follow them exactly, and you will do fine. I learned a lot from him, even if he was not my favorite professor of all time.

I learned more in Baron's class than I did in all my other classes combined. He is an excellent teacher & you will learn a lot. On the other hand, you MUST attend every class or you will miss a ton. (& dont be late!) He is a total jerk, but you'll end up liking him (sorta). He is more concerned about you learning than you liking him. Hard class.
TAKE THIS TEACHER! Took him for PSY 101 and 102. His lectures are interesting and he uses GREAT examples. His tests are honestly EASY if you pay attention and review before the tests. He provides outlines, but the more notes you take the better you'll do. But, attendance is mandatory!! He can certainly be a prick, but GREAT PASSIONATE teacher!!!!

This was the worst professor that I have had in about 15 years. This man talks to you like you are three and is not willing to help you during your online class if your system crashes. Don't think that if your system crashes during a quiz that he will reopen it because he won't! RUN from this class there are better teachers!
Dr. Baron is a great teacher. I learned a lot from him. As a psych major, of anything I know in the field, most of it is from him. He can be critical of sports and some things but he teaches well. All in all, he is worth the time invested in the course. Everone is entitled to their opinion, I just disagree with some of the ones here.
Ok he's kinda hard. I applied things from the "outside" world (PS don't do that in college, you are supposed to be dumb and know nothing) However he took extra time out for me, seriously he did, and that was awesome.(I was going to transfer, due to issues from the prior semester, due to sucky teachers.)You have to study (duh) and he is fair.

If you are slightly interested in Psych, TAKE HIS CLASS. He makes everything SO easy to understand. Tests are CAKE. Takes 20 minutes max. He's a bit anal with homework assignments and can be offensive, but if you care enough about the class, he will like you and you will like him. 15% of your grade is attendance so SHOW UP. He makes the class fun.
He is a decent teacher, and uses great examples that you can really apply to everyday life, but he is often rude. He does not stray far from his syllabus. If you ask him a question about the class, he tells you to look for it in the syllabus? not helpful. Often you end up teaching yourself.
He really is a good professor, as long as you come to class prepared and don't use, look at, or think about your cell phone. His handouts are really useful if you read them, they make studying for the test a lot easier.
I took his class online & I'm glad I did because I learned a lot and it was easy.BUT the negative comments are all true.He will only like you if you stroke his ego, is very sarcastic & little to no help..so don't bother asking a question unless you want to get ridiculed for doing so.Best 4 tests out of 6. Best 1 test out of final or midterm count.
Dr. Baron's class is a great class to take IF you really want to learn psychology. If you're there to pass the time and fill a requirement pick another class. He really helps you understand ALL of the content that he teaches. He gives you alot of his time and is extremely helpful. Brilliant man!

Dr. Baron is a good teacher. Homeworks are easy. Tests are easy. We do not use the book at all. Print out the student notes before class. Missing class and/or coming late will effect your grade. He is a clear teacher and will answer any questions
He's a great teacher who clearly explains what needs to be done before class starts! There's not much more you can ask of a teacher! HE LETS YOU THROW AWAY 1 TEST GRADE and TWO OBSERVATION GRADES. He offers AMPLE extra credit (and some of it is hard b/c YOU HAVE TO WORK). He's a great teacher. do yourself a favor and take him! you'll LEARN TONS!

I took this class last year in my fall semester in the morning class and for myself it was sleepy and made me fall a deep sleep he basically does all the lectures w/powerpoint and talks if you just can't stand listening DONT TAKE IT. also if you're not good at catching up just by listening also dont recommend it was boring hard class for me.
I had to take his child psych class as an Education major as he is the only professor who teaches it. He is very strict, but fair you can argue your case with him on papers and tests, if it is clear. For papers write at least half a page more than you think you have to and set the bottom margins to .9 to avoid losing points on autoformating
Baron knows his stuff. Tough, but fair. If you're looking for an easy A, don't bother. I really do suggest him for child psychology, though. I got a lot out of it and it was challenging (in a good way). The essays are tough when you first write one, but they do improve if you actually try. Take him if you're serious, it's worth it.
He was a great teacher! I loved his class! If you follow his rules, by going to class MAKE SURE YOU PHONE IS OFF. If he even hears it vibrate he will drop you a letter grade! But if you do all your work attend class and keep you phone turned off this class is a piece of cake! He is a really nice teacher and I learned a lot!
I had Dr. Baron over 10 years ago. I don't get all the negative ratings. He was a hoot! He had a great sense of humor which he used to help us remember important stuff. Never forget the day everyone dumped M&M's on his desk!
Very rude and impatient. Not helpful- easily offended by any student who does not completely agree with him. Inflexible. Grading process makes no sense. Don't ask questions-he responds with extreme attitude because if you don't understand something, he takes it as a personal attack on him. Test questions on non-covered material
I don't get all of these negative reviews such as "unclear about his grading" or "rude" because I took his class and he's the reason I changed my major to Psychology! He completely lays out how he will grade your papers in the syllabus! JUST PAY ATTENTION AND FOLLOW HIS RULES. I passed with an A, and you can too, if you care about the class...
I enjoyed Professor Baron's class. With it being online all you have to do is read the outlines and power points, and you will be fine. Most of the questions on tests come from his notes. The book is only useful for his "applications." Grading and expectations are clear. Put in the effort and you will be fine.
This professor is very nice, and helpful. He expects you to put in the required work. The tests are easy, and he always give bonus points. Def. take him. P.S. do not use texting language...ever!

All test are online, not the easiest tests, but I managed an A.Some trickly questioning 4 discussion post due a week, very basic though; just follow his instructions. He will call you out if you doubble post or make a foolish comment. You will need the book, and will need to do teh reading. I enjoyed the class and learned a lot. Would take again.
He's tough but I suppose he's fair. This is definitely not the class to take if you want an easy A. He will call out you if you say anything dumb, repetitive or use incorrect grammar. (I don't have that problem but many do) I think this is the one class I'm not getting an A in and I will most likely choose another professor next semester.
I love his intro class and cannot wait to take child psych. He really grabs your interest in the topic. He makes sure everyone is on track. Gives opportunity for extra credit. Has taught me more then psychology.. Organization.. Planning.. Studying ability.. Everyone can benefit from his courses.
I love this professor, he knows how to relate the topics to situations that you have heard of your seen before. He is very intresting to listen to. He does have many rules but if you follow them you will love the class. he is very intreseted in his students and is willing to help them learn! i loved his class
Really good professor! His class can be hard but if you study there is no reason not to pass. The exams are very easy just pay attention in class and print on the note outlines. His article reviews and application paper are a bit ridiculous but can be done. Just make sure you follow is format for each paper!
Great Professor. Took him for psych200 last semester. If u get the chance take him. He is tough but u will learn. U can't procrastinate. U need to.do the work, pay attention, attend class and turn your phone off. You should get an A.
I liked Professor Baron, his teaching took some getting used to but I learned a lot. I enjoyed listening to the lectures he gave. Fair when it comes to grading, if you put in an honest effort and follow the syllabus, you will earn a good grade.

i took him for psych 101 he is strict about phones so turn it off. he gives chances for extra credit and will drop your lowest test and assignment grades. everything that you need to know is on the syllabus. He is very clear with instructions. his outlines notes for each chapter are very useful. makes lectures interesting and is funny.
Dr Baron is super smart and knows what he's talking about. He will help you if you ask for it. I really enjoyed his lectures. The article reviews and the application paper were annoying but it's really the only things you have to do besides showing up for class, doing the tests and the final.
He's a middle aged teacher who is incredibly educated. His love for psychology is evident and he shares his knowledge willingly. Print the outlines for every chapter because they help. If you do all the assignments, you get extra credit. Several extra credit options available, so take advantage of that! He's the best teacher I've had.
Great professor. Really cares about his students. Not too hard, only 4 tests and very little homework.
I took him in a 3 week winter-session course and it was very time consuming. You only didn't have assignments maybe 2 days a week. He gives you the notes already but you must listen through the lectures in order to do well on the tests. Overall he was very generous with grading and his class is an easy A. DON'T BUY A TEXTBOOK, save your money.

Dr. Baron is brilliant. His lectures are very interesting and his student notes are very helpful. Discussion and tests are purely based on his lecture and notes. You have to breathe and live by his lectures and notes. Text book isn't necessary. 1 Homework (Application) per week. Take him if you like applied learning. You WILL learn from him!
My first psych class in college, and loved it! passed with a B. He's an amazing teacher. Gives great feedback, and on every testquiz that we took, there was at least 3 extra credit questions, that were so easy so there was no reason to not get them right. He's extremely intelligent and helpful. Definitely recommend to everyone!
Took this class as a transfer class and loved this professor!! TAKE HIM if you need to take psy 101. I took the summer session 6-week course and it went by so fast (regardless that it was 4 hours twice a week). I got over 100% on all the exams because of the extra credit he gives. Good teacher!
Amazing teacher, I'm glad I have my first morning m w f class with him. His lectures are really interesting, and they really wake you up. All you have to do is show up and pay attention. He takes points off if you don't show up, so just show up. He's clear, to the point, and pretty easy-going too. And read the syllabus.

I wish he was teaching again next semester! His class is straight forward and you know what is expected. He's one of those teachers that'll say "Your brain can't learn more than 'x' amount of time" and then let class go. He understands burnout, and cares about his students as a class.

If you need help he's willing to offer but he's not always very clear.. Also DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE IN CLASS. He will take off a letter grade. Good luck! Professor Baron was extremely helpful with anything I needed. He was also very encouraging and did everything he could to make his students feel at ease. I would definitely take a class of his again.

I took him for online PSY101 this past semester, and I really disliked this class. I work more than full time, so I take online classes for flexibility. This online class was not flexible, and the professor is very rude. If you're looking for a class with a professor that is nice, inspiring, or a good teacher, go a different direction.
Dr Baron is such an amazing teacher, that I literally had to create an account just so I could give him a good rating. There are many extra credit options, and only 5 tests ( 1 of which he drops at the end of the semester) There is homework, but we were given plenty of time to have it completed. JUST PUT THE WORK IN. EASY A!
Professor Baron was an amazing teacher. He taught a lot of information but if you went to class and focused on his lectures, you will be okay. He puts a lot of effort into helping the class understand the material with out having to study really hard. He also seems very educated an experienced. I learned a lot from him.

Such a clear-cut and easy class! Dr. Baron is very knowledgeable but not self-important. We were allowed lots of skip, but VERY strict on electronics. Posts note sheets online and always willing to give examples and explain further. Also, lots of opportunity for extra credit. Just do the work and show up and you'll get an A.

Dr. Baron is a great professor who is a seasoned pro in the area of psychology. You will learn from this class, but one tip- When he says at the beginning of each semester, always turn your phone off, he means it. Do not forget to at the very least to silence it. Listen to the rules and participate, and he will give you solid feedback. GREAT CLASS!
If you don't go to class/are late often don't take this professor. He is amazing, the class is amazing. However, basically all of the grading is based around your attendance so even if you do well in the class if you have poor attendance you might not pass! If you are a good student you're sure to get an A and learn a ton from him. Highly recommend
Professor Baron is the best online teacher I ever had! His lectures were upbeat and spoke about real life situations along with the importance of the topic in real life. His syallabus was on point with expectations, course Work and due dates. He cares about student success and what the student takes out of the course more than actual grade!
I took Psy101 online, being as though it was my first online class I didn't know what to expect. But I was very pleased with how Dr. Baron gave great feedback, always involved in class discussions, easy to reach. Please be ready to listen to long lectures, and read notes. But they are for a good cause, they really do help. You can tell he wants to see his students succeed. A lot of quizzes but fairly easy, just read the notes. I would definitely take him again.

Baron needs to be warmed up to. You will think it's difficult but it wasn't hard. Print out notes and power points and you'll pass. Gives great feedback. Do not skip class. Great teacher! Very knowledgeable about Child Psychology!!!

Dr. Baron is the best teacher at montco. He has a Ph. D, 2 Masters, 2 bachelors degrees and 2 associates. (I'm sure he has more that I don't know). He really wants you to learn and cares about you. If you show up on time, put your phone away, and pay attention then you will pass.
He's great, very helpful and thoughtful of his students. Show up, do your homework which is pretty straight forward, and pass your quizzes, which have a very good quiz review the class before to take home, and pass. Great teacher. Book not required because he cares about student's wallets.
Had Prof. Baron for online Psyc and it was pretty easy. Do not buy the text book, he only asks questions relating to the lecture and power point, which is all on blackboard. He emails you every morning and basically tells you want you need to do for that day which was nice. Just participate a lot in the DB and watch the How To videos.
This Professor was and still is thee best professor of all time. He's funny, he makes sure you truly understand the material by giving easily understood examples, truly wants everyone to succeed(not only in his class but in all) and does the hard work for you ( Not making you purchase and read through a text book).
I have to take this class online due to me being a single parent and my work schedule so flexibility is important to me. With him, not so much. Plus, if you don't do things exactly his way, he will write comments that will make you feel dumbed down and want to transfer to another professor. THEN proceeds to shut down your thread on Blackboard.
Easily one of the best teachers I've ever had. His lectures make you WANT to learn. Relates all of the content to real world situations that you can understand. 10/10 would take again. Curves every test, usually around 6 points. Plenty of extra credit you can do in 5 minutes.

Read the book and listen to his lectures, your life will be forever changed. You will walk out of this class with a fresh perspective.
Professor Baron is one of the best Professors I have had, period. He challenges and engages you as a student, but more importantly as a young adult. He wants you to LEARN, not just memorize information. If you don't show up, if you do not take notes, if you do not pay attention, you WILL fail this course. Effort and buying in will get you an A!

withdrew from the class because I kept getting low grades and anytime I asked him why or if I could see a past example so I know what to do for next time he just said that I was calling him a liar and I was accusing him of inaccurate things. he changes his syllabus as he goes but then says check the syllabus. Dr. Baron is extremely rude on online discussion boards and is very sarcastic when responding to other students. It is just unprofessional. He also has a bad habit of equating length of work with quality as well, which is just not true. He doesn't even look at the words that you write, just how long the discussion board or application is.

I would advise you to skip past his class and NEVER take it. He is a very rude professor and when asked a questions he answers very unprofessional. He does not try to help you understand, just says "did you read the syllabus" when his syllabus is very unclear. Instead of trying to help you understand, he makes you feel dumb.

In a majority of his lectures, which were online, he felt the need to bring up/make a reference to that students shouldn't be on their phones which started to make the lectures really hard to listen to. His responses to students in the discussion board were not very encouraging or polite. He encourages questions, answers with refer to the syllabus.
Professor Baron made me think outside the box and about real life situations and how the relate to psychology. Professor Baron loves to make jokes which make the class time go by. He does give homework just about every night but i would not say it took me more than 15 minutes. One rule he does have is no phones and he is strict about it.

took this class online cause i have a full time job and busy life, but he was not understanding of this. his comments on discussion boards were very rude, and if you dont post more than 7 things in a span of 3 days you wont get full credit for anything. Professor Baron is ok at best. His rule of PHONES MUST BE TURNED OFF makes sense but if you dont turn it off then he gets pissed. He stops class to make a big deal about a phone going off, he says its a distraction but when he interrupts class it distracts the class way more. And if you phone does go off, he marks your grade down 1 letter.
Dr. Baron is a great professor. One thing I will say though is that you should not take your phone out in class unless approved by him because if it interrupts his lecture, he will mark you one full letter grade each time. This is understandable because in my class there was a few people in the beginning who did disrupt the class with their phones.

Dr. Baron is hands down the best professor I've ever had. Professor Baron consistantly made every lecture enjoyable and never failed to inspire the class. He is a very friendly, outgoing guy and made his students work for their grade . While some may view that as a bad thing, he forced me to dig deep and reach my maximum potential as a student.
Took his class in the summer and i really liked it. It was pretty lecture heavy but he doesn't just read off them he tells related stories from his career and gives easily understandable examples. He was pretty funny and nice as long as you do not have your phone out during class.

Absolutely awful. Prepare yourself for public humiliation. Instead of constructive criticism he will publicly display what you have done wrong and never offer suggestions on how to change or improve. I took this 3 week class over winter break and was easy. He claims it's hours of work every day, but I spent an hour at most only on a few days. I go to a good school and needed the credits, and did well barely even trying. Discussion boards are key and people miss out on free points just by not doing them. Yes, he is quite rude and shames people.

This teacher was one of the few teachers I disliked. Very rude and doesn't understand how others have things going on in their lives especially when it is during COVID. He always stresses asking questions but mocks you when you ask them. I rather deal with covid than take this class again. If you plan on taking 214, be wary choosing this professor.
This professor is condescending, rude, and over shares his dated opinion. He begs for questions and then often ridicules students who ask them. Hates cell phones, yawn, and loves sports- almost all analogies are sports related. Avoid this professor at all costs!!! I'm a psych major, wish me luck that I can avoid him too.
Professor Baron will tell you to ask questions, and then mock you when you do. Plenty of my classmates were mocked in the discussion boards for asking simple questions. He claims he understands his students have other things going on in life but surely doesnt show that he does through his grading. Dont waste your time, choose another professor.
I was kind of shocked to see all the negative feedback. I remember that the first assignment I did was a B because I didn't do some things on the rubric. This is a very stressful class. He's very tough on grading. If you care then you will get the grade but don't expect to be immune to ridicule if you get something wrong. Trying in this class does matter but it's very, VERY anxiety inducing. The DB set up is competitive and mean. Pits you against your peers.
I'll be honest, he is an amazing Professor. You can ask questions with an accurate response that's relevant to the lecture, he'll refer you to the syllabus at first BUT he can still answer your questions patiently, and give you great advice. it's college and if you're starting out; this class will hit you like a train on adulthood; head start.
I loved him as a professor and I would have him 1000 times over if I could. The ratings I see here I feel are quite a stretch if I'm being honest. He cares about how much work is being put on the students. Quizzes are fairly easy and the class can easily be an A if you just pay attention. Strict grader when it comes to discussions however.
This class required a discussion post once a week and a final paper. The discussion posts did take a while but you do them once a week and it's just parts of your final paper through the chapter so you never actually have to write a final paper. I actually learned a lot and he's very nice. Some people on here are just a little lazy I think.
Okay let me clear up the mixed reviews for you. The class is very easy and you will get an A as long you get your work done on time and participate. Dr. Baron is a nice guy as long as you stay on his good side. DO NOT try to ask for an extension or try to turn in assignments late or he will be extremely rude and condescending towards you.

Participation matters especially discussion board. Try to post as soon as it opens because he loves to say the posts are replicating and gives a low grade. Tests are fair and he always gives a freebie question. Article review and application are graded tough.
Mainly have a few assignments so keep track of syllabus and what he's asking of you. He goes over what is due each class and wants to know how the class is doing even outside of the classroom. His lectures take up the whole class period but provide lessons that can help at any point in life. Take him if you will put in the work, he's great!
I've had Dr. Baron for multiple courses, and he is 100% a very hit or miss teacher. You will either love or hate his realistic and straight forward demeanor that is present in every lecture. Thankfully, I found him to be very inspiring and intelligent, so I do recommend him. Most entry level classes are easy, with 231 being very very difficult.
Dr. Baron was the most down to earth and caring teacher I've ever had the pleasure of being in a class for. He made me want to wake up and make the commute just to be able to hear his lectures and participate in the group discussions. Unfortunately, this class is mandatory for a Psychology degree at Montco. Be prepared for a Professor who is extremely unorganized, demands perfection and is extremely condescending when questions are asked. He grades fairly, but the group project is the majority of the work/grade for this class. Good luck in this class, you are going to need it!
if you are someone who is interested in child psych, I do not recommend taking this class with professor baron. he spends far too much time of each class talking about how screwed up our generation is and how we are going to ruin future generations. extremely disorganized, condescending, and does not take accountability when he makes a mistake
I had taken asynchronous PSY 101 over the summer. Participation is key in discussion posts. The syllabus is something I referenced almost every time before I did anything, as he requires insanely specific requirements in everything from his discussion posts to his assignments to his tests. Professor Baron is a knowledgeable lecturer and I learned a lot from him. However, there were moments during the semester when I felt uncomfortable with some of his remarks and comments. While I respect him as a professor, I am not a fan of his grading system. I believe he can take a better approach to help his students succeed.

BUT I really hate his grading style and everything for each assignment is in the syllabus, but I found the instructions unclear most times. The amount of DB posts needed is excessive.. 8+ posts over 3 days, 5 lines each?! Would maybe take him again.
I took PSY101 asynchronously in summer 2024 (6 week course). Professor Baron is condescending and at times rude. He begs for you to ask questions, but publicly shames you for asking said questions. All of his assignment instructions are located in the syllabus. He is not tech savvy. Many broken module links. He grades out of 5, 2, and 7 (3.4/5).
Dr. Baron clearly states expectations and directions in the syllabus so actually read and take notes since that will dignify your grade on assignments. At first, it was a little overwhelming, but toward the end I ended up loving the class. Dr. Baron wants his students to take something from his class and actually learn which is why I respect him.

I took his class in 2019 and still after many years, Dr. Baron is still the best professor I have ever had. He at the time gave long lectures but they were very informative and exciting. If you get the chance to take his class, just make sure to pay attention and take good notes, if you do that, this class should be "ez pz".
He is genuinely so condescending. He treats you like crap when you email him. He is the only professor who doesn't put the assignment descriptions/information on the actual app (canvas) that you are completing it on. It's on the syllabus so you have to have an entire document up to be able to do any work.
Baron is awful. On one of his learning write ups I got an extremely low grade because I only mentioned one concept. Even though his rubric never mentions anything about needing multiple concepts. I emailed him and he gave me a low effort response not answering anything I asked in my email. I highly do not suggest that you take him.
he gave us a study guide for our midterm and then when he gave us the midterm it was completely different from the study guide every chapter we have to do a write up he doesnt give clear directions of what he wants so if you dont do it right hell take points off everything in the class adds up to 100 so if you do bad on 1 assignment ur grade drops
Baron Is a good man, and his class was fairly easy. He was funny sometimes, and other times I was falling asleep in his class. He wants participation but doesn't demand it. He isn't strict and his class is really easy. I would recommend his class for someone who wants an easy A. All his tests are online and on your own time, including the final.

Lectures are to the point and he will answer questions during class. He actively tries to get to know every student and is understanding of circumstances.

He encourages questions but responds sarcastically or refuses to answer, making students feel inferior. Despite having a PhD in psychology, his lack of professionalism and patience is disappointing. Lectures are informative, but poor experience.
I had student advisors on campus, warn me prior to taking his class due to his known harsh behavior with the students. They tried to help me find alternative classes in time for the semester. That says a lot. He is judgmental, critical and contradictory. Grading is harsh as he makes almost every assignment ONE point. Lectures were helpful though.
He does give grace to those with partners who don't participate in the project. The edits he makes to the project are vague, unclear, and he is passive-aggressive. He would complain during lectures about society, technology, and then read over slides. He also doesn't connect the due date to Canvas calendar so be sure to check the syllabus.
so condescending and passive aggressive. gives NO instructions on the learning write ups you have to do for every chapter. he took off random points on mine all the time, so i emailed him, and his response was extremely rude & patronizing. talks abt how messed up our generation is & gives his opinions on society during lectures instead of teaching.
He is very smart and knows his stuff. I think his biggest flaw is that his mood affects how he interacts with students. If he's in a good mood, he'll be very helpful. If he is in a bad mood, well, that's how you get the reviews on here saying he isn't helpful.
Absolute worst most unprofessional teacher I have had. I cannot fathom how he still has a job at this school with the way he speaks to his students. Had an incident where he accused me of being on my phone when I was not. I had to drop the class bc of the way he spoke to me when I attempted to clarify the situation. School did nothing of course.
He doesn't proof read any of his quizzes so it's like a guessing game. I tried to talking to him about it but he was passive aggressive and didnt change anything. Nothing but rude and unkind for no reason. Also his feedback and lectures are so vague. He doesn't give any clear instructions on anything and is one of the harshest graders I've ever had
He's incredibly intelligent and I look up to him immensely. A lot of these comments about him being “rude” don't get that he teases his students to break the tension and none of it is serious. College is HARD and is not meant to be easy. He challenges you. Do not take his class for an easy A. Rely on the syllabus because he can barely use canvas.
Dr. Baron was an amazing professor! He is very knowledgeable, and I really enjoyed his lectures! Some people think he's rude, but I feel he is very nice to those who put the effort in. If you do the work, show up to class on time, and pay attention, you will easily get a good grade in his class. I would 100% recommend him, he's great!
Smart professor, easy class, strict grading. Repeats negative views on our generation and sounds like a broken record, but good discussions. Midterms worth 10 points and final are worth only 15 points. Overall, he is good. ridiculous.
the kind of teacher who will forever stay in your mind - super intelligent and funny. lectures were so enjoyable, also pre-recorded ones available. no extra credit but it is super easy to get a good grade if you actually listen and take time to learn. love who I shared class with too because their participation made class memorable. good luck guys!
This professor was impossible to work with because he would grade so harshly to a point where it was very difficult to meet his standards, never provide meaningful feedback, and refuse to give out any extra credit or heavier-pointed assignments.
He will most likely assume you copied from another person in the same discussion. When you ask him what you copied, he won't answer and just says you repeated what your classmate said. Every assignment is about 2 points maximum; it's very difficult to get your grade up. He won't explain what you did wrong, just tells you to read the syllabus again.
He's horrible he yelled in my face saying i was distracting another classmate and say I was always late, i arrive to his class ON time every-time, he never helps with any assignments and anytime he asks for help he says check the syllabus. Would not recommend taking his class. Yes it's very easy but the teacher himself is horrible to his students.
He's a very good professor, lectures aren't boring, and he's not test heavy. The only thing he doesn't like are when people are on their phones, leave the classroom, or come in late, which is very reasonable. You do have to pay attention and do his assignments, but I have absolutely no complaints. He's also very nice and open to answering questions
