He'll make you work. Don't look at you laptop for longer than a couple seconds, he'll call on you for an answer. But you learn, thats why your there right. The material you learn is useful and relavent.
Great Instructor. I didn't care much for the subject, but the class was fun, interactive, and useful because of the way it was taught.
Excellent instructor! Mr. Bayus applies class concepts to the real world to increase understanding of the material. He encourages friendly class interaction and involvement, and makes sure everyone understands the material of the previous lesson before the next lesson is taught.
Very good Professor, you will definitely learn new things.
Very challenging course, but learned a lot more than I thought. Excellent Professor, has business experience in the working world.
Great Professor. Always willing to help. Very demanding but you will learn alot.He makes the class great with his lectures and knowledge.
Very good and demanding teacher. Hard work is rewarded, but don't try and slack off. He'll fail you in a second.
Great professor!! The course was hard but that was do to the subject matter. Without this professor to guide me, i am sure i would still be taking the same class.
Deep knowledge, passion about subjects, very good connections, focussed
He is not an easy teacher, but he always available for help. He is very active in the class and encourages the class to do their part. He is a great teacher and you are certain to learn a lot.
Top notch professor. An active and interesting learning environment.
Great Professor! He always get everyone involve and ready to help all the time. He is very active in class and make sure all the students contributes while in class.
Top of the line professor, one of my best classes, if not the best, I have ever had at Davenport University.
Loved the teaching style. Mr. Bayus teaching method allows each student to learn the course material. Well prepared and has lots of "real world" experience to share.
Great way of teaching style. Always says, think outside the box. His lecture is not just the lecture but its fun, critical thinking, great team work. Overall excellent.
Great class. Professor Bayus creates a fun learning enviornment. I recommend this class to you! He truly cares about his students and is very helpful. He also responds to your questions very quickly! Thankful to have been a student of his!
This guy is really cool. He knows exactly what he is talking about and makes learning in his class fun. We didn't use the book too much. A good deal of work but it is a 7 week class. I enjoyed this class a lot and I am not a marketing student.
Excellent instructor. Professor Bayus is a very good teacher, and he knows everything about everything. It is easy to communicate with him and he is very helpful.I have never seen another teacher that cares so much about his students like he does. I recommend you not to miss his class; it is interesting, exiting and you learn a lot.
A four hour class has the potential to be a drag. Steven Bayus keeps the class engaged, he is funny, challenging, knowledgable and has a passion for the business! He really takes time to provide helpful feedback. I loved his class and would encourage you to take him if you have the opportunity!
Professor Bayus was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and passionate. I would recommend him to anyone. You will learn a lot from his class and have fun while doing it.
Steve Bayus is a great teacher. He is very helpful and wants you to succeed so he doesn't give you anything you can't do. He is a teacher that cares about the students. I would recommend him to anyone taking anyone of his classes!
This is a great class with a really good professor. The workload is quite heavy but I learned more than in any other class I have taken
Steve is a great instructor. If you are looking for a cakewalk class and for your education to mean nothing, then he is not the instructor for you. If you want a class where you will be challenged and forced to engage in the classroom as well as think critically about how to apply the material, then he is a great instructor for you!
Not the easiest professor but probably the best one you'll ever have. He knows the subject matter better than anyone I have ever met, and better yet, he has and still is living the course material. If you have to take MKTG 421 make sure you get Prof. Bayus.
Bayus if by far the best professor I've had, he is knowledgeable of the subject matter, knows how to make his students interested, and want to do well in his class. He encourages discussion based learning and won't let any student slip through the cracks. Take Bayus' marketing class but be prepared to work for your success.
Steve is a great instructor and really connects with the class - his style of teaching and class engagement fosters understanding as he ties his experience and course/text content together. Students are really able to grasp real life scenarios of the course, which will truly help in life situations/future work endeavours.
Mr. Bayus is a Beast Mode! teacher. You can tell he loves to teach. His classes are semi-challenging but very worth the coin. If you want more out of a class than just dull powerpoint lectures and material, take this guy. He keeps it fun and keeps your attention.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Relates course topics to relevant situations in todays business environment. I couldn't imagine learning this material in seven weeks in any other format other than "Bayus's boot camp"(Bayus, 2012).
GOOD INSTRUCTOR HE INCORPORATES THE BOOK KNOWLEDGE WITH HIS OWN EXPERIENCES. HE DOES WELL IN DRAWING OUT THE CLASS THROUGH DISCUSSION.
Steve is professor that gives everything he has to the class and expects the same from his students. He will make you a better person if you let him. His "Bayus Boot Camp" is challenging and you have to be willing to work hard. One of the best professors I've ever had!
The best professor I have ever had. His non-traditional way of teaching is about taking the concepts learned from the readings and apply to real life situations through class discussion. Bayus' Boot Camp was my first class and I feel it has helped me immensely. If you want an A you will be putting in the time at home.
By far the best prof. I've ever had. He has a different style and you have to put a lot of work but you get used to it.
Steve Bayus is one of the best professors I've ever had. He really cares about you and drives you to be the best you can. He is a tough guy and you better come to class prepared! If you put in the work you will reap many rewards! (and expect a lot of work)
Great Prof. Learned a lot. You have to get by the first week of feeling overwhelmed, but if you stick it out you will learn a lot.
Great teacher!! First or two will feel a little bit out of control! But he treats you like a professional. You will definitely get earn your grade. I recommend to everyone.
Great Instructor with high expectations. Prepare to learn. He really made us learn how to present ourselves while challenging market stratgiess in this course. A lot of work but even more learning. Excellent Course
Great instructor. Captivating and professional. Be prepared for class and ready to be "called upon" frequently. You will get plenty of practice speaking as small presentations are common. Steve is one of the most entertaining and informative professors I've ever had.
Steve is a very challenging prof. and has a very interesting way of teaching the class, but you will get more out of this class than you have in any other class you take. I highly recommend Steve Bayus as a prof.
Great professor his teaching techniques vary each week while making the class period worthwhile and challenges his students to perform at their best. He will always use real life lectures there will never be ppt lectures.
Steven Bayus uses an unorthodox teaching approach that resonates well with the students. I enjoyed his class thoroughly because of the real life scenarios he explains, thus allowing the material to make better sense. I recommend Mr. Bayus.
Prof. Bayus uses a nontraditional teaching approach which kept me engaged and interested. He challenged us to apply marketing concepts to real-life situations and gave helpful, constructive feedback to keep us on track. His focus is on helping students and adjusts his pace/style to ensure students actually learn. Definitely recommend.
He was a great teacher, one of the most challenging but fair as well. Used a lot of real world example and limited power point which I thought was very helpful. One of the best teachers I've had at Davenport University, and I've been there over 4 years!
Professor Bayus by far has been one of the best professors I have had in my academic career. Though the work load was very demanding all expectation were clearly understood and he assured that everyone left the class learning something that they did not expect.
He had such amazing passion and personality. I was learning without knowing it. The class had a challenging workload, but the end result was so worth it. Great class (one of my favorites of all time) and great instructor.
Great class. Professor Bayus takes course concepts and shows how to use them in real life. The workload is a bit heavy. He challenges you and creates a good learning experience. I definitely recommend him.
One of the best professors I have ever had. He cares about his students and makes sure that you learn a lot in his class.
Bayus is honest, a little politically incorrect, and always open to a good arguement. Work load is a bit heavy and somewhat shocking for a business class at first. Overall, the course was worth the money and time and I learned more than expected
Great class overall, a lot more work involved then originally anticipated. Learned a lot and all will apply to career.
I took this in seat and the was a pretty good teacher. Made marketing as interesting as it can possibly be.
Learned more than I could ever imagine. Real world experince applied to textbook theories. Really cares about you and your learning. Hard work pays off and is required.Great Calss
One of the best classes I have taken. Great at making you think about what you think.
This professor is fair and interested in students. However if you are looking for an easy class you can skate through, Professor Bayus is not for you. He will challenge you in every way he can but he does it with the goal of making you better and getting you out a comfort zone you shouldn't be in anyway. Highly recommended.
Prof. Steve is one of the most impressionable and intelligent Professors I've had. He challenges you beyond what you can imagine yet he walks the journey with you the entire time. Walk in the park Prof? Not even close. Have him as Prof again? Without question. He's book smart, wise, common sense, business savvy & humble - great combinations.
Steve is a professor that is passionate about your development and growth as a business professional. If you want a tougher class that will provide a rewarding experience take a class with Steve. He will always be there to guide you, mentor you, and push you to success.
Professor Steve is by far one of the best instructors I have ever had in my college years. He is someone who is passionate about your learning. His teaching style is so different from any other college professor I have ever had. He takes you out of your comfort zone and ensures that you apply yourself in the real life experience.
Mr. Bayus truley cares about the learning experience of his students. If you do the work he assigns and participate in his group discussions, you will greatly enjoy his class!!
This teacher truly cares about your learning experience and is very knowledgeable and helpful!
I got my position from both professor and my classmates. More discuss and sharing ideas are better than just learn from book. This is a wonderful course for me.
Professor Bayus was an exceptional instructor. He was always available for questions/guidance on assignments and subjects; and taught with great insight of the usage of marketing strategies.
Steven is a dynamic and energetic professor with real life experience. He excels at providing encouragement and practical applications in the classroom. I highly recommend Steven as a professor within any capacity. It was a true pleasure learning from him1
This professor is outstanding. Unique and demanding, challenging critical thinking. Sometimes difficult as he challenges you to really think critically and not just follow the map. Excellent learning experience and fun.
Mr.Bayus was the best professor I've had. His class was challenging, with an incredible amount of work, but I learned a lot. I found his teaching style to be entertaining and effective. I recommend taking Mr. Bayus if you have the chance. You will not regret it.
Best professor I have ever taken. He makes sure you learn marketing through the real world and not just the textbook. Great class a must take!
Steven is one of a handful of truly engaging professors who have their students best interest in mind even if the students do not know this yet. He prepared us for the trip, gave insightful tips and let us explore and expand our horizons both in China and America. This class is no cakewalk, read the texts, and use everything u learned in the MBA prg
At first I thought this would be a blow over class. If that’s what you’re looking for then move on – I say this because you will have a heck of a lot of work ahead of you. Helpful Hints: (1) Enter with an open mind (2) Be ready to speak on a regular basis in front of a small group (3) Be creative (4) Be ready to write
Initially did thought the class would be really challenging and first impression of the professor were that he was strict. Ended up enjoying most of the class, and really got some valuable takeaways. Learned to appreciate and actually enjoy his teaching style.
Excellent professor and class. Very interesting and non traditional. Interactive learning approach. Incredibly helpful to us as students. Good Experience
Great class
Being a graduate class it was a lot of hard work but really got in depth class discussions which was great. Great real world experience and stories which made the 4 hour class pass by and learnt a great deal about Strategic Management
Excellent teacher. Non traditional learning environment. Never had a better course.
Steve Bayus is an outstanding professor if you WANT a unique learn experience. The work load is demanding but the outcome is learning! Don't expect to be spoon fed - It is a true graduate level class that will challenge you but you will not be disappointed if you are willing to show up prepared.
Steven, provided clarity in connecting the academic learning with real world application. I am prepared to apply the learnings from this course immediately for my organization. Steven has passion for higher learning and the disciplines of marketing. He truly cared about our professional and personal development.
If you apply yourself and can prove your positions you will do great in this class.
Highly motivated and reactive, brings in outstanding guest speakers who are living what we are learning, focused on student success and hones in specifically on what you are looking to get out of the course. Very good feedback on work both during and at grade point; highly recommended.
A really great professor. Very motivated to help students understand the material. The lectures he gave were help us apply to real-life situations and showed his knowledge about the subject matter. He never used power points, which was great, he made the class engage in conversation. You'll be happy with how much you learn from this professor.
Great professor, He cared about all the students and made sure everyone learned something. Brought real life experiences and some good stories that really taught more than the book ever could. The lectures were great and were more a conversation than anything, NO power Points! Highly recommend.
I thought I really knew Marketing then I took this class and wow I know more than ever. A really practical and inspiring instructor. Be prepared to work, but he will lead you through everything. A great experience highly recommended.
Overall great professor, do not pass up on the opportunity to have him. He will make sure you get what you want out of the class. Classes included great round table discussion and he never used PowerPoint. Not a marketing person at all but really enjoyed the class and actually learned from it.
I am not a marketing major but I feel that this class was as beneficial as it was because of his teaching style. He required everyone to participate in discussions and that helped reinforce the material emensely.
Very intelligent and brought personal and professional experience.
Mr. Bayus creates a learning environment tailored to his students, and understands the importance of communication with them, being quick to respond to an email, text, or phone call - most of the time within minutes. He genuinely cares about YOUR success, not his. I hope to have him for future classes.
If you're someone who is adverse to ambiguity, beware. Prof Bayus is an amazing prof but doesn't give you a road map to an A. He expects you to work for your grade and you really get from the class what you put in. If you come to class read to talk and interact, it's an AWESOME experience. It's not a ton of work but it does entail critical thinking
This was my first class in my Master's program ( MBA) I could not have asked for a better start to the program. This prof is amazing! He is there for you and will work in your best interest. I never expected to learn as much as I did! Take his class!!
Lots of work in this class but his teaching style is hands on and is awesome!
awesome
The toughest and most rewarding instructor I've had.
Challenging , gives his best, expects the same. Great teaching style
It wasn't easy, but the work was valuable & I learned more in this course than any other. He is very passionate about teaching & creates an engaging learning environment. You cannot get by without participation or thinking critically, but you also will never see a powerpoint. He brought course concepts to life in discussion - an art. Great class!!
Great class I ever had.
Although I'm leaving this about 4 years down the road, he is still an inspiration and has been a key mold for who I am today. Hands down the best teacher/mentor/professor I have ever had.
Learned much. Best parts of class time teaching stories, group discussions & projects. Really liked the non traditional classroom presentations by the professor & students. Like more input by Professor about reading assignments, like highlights to read. Review difficult concepts from read. Offered multiple opportunities for questions & comments.
Different and unexpected style. Fun all the course. Great content and knowledge of the subject. Good experience.
Amazing Teacher
Professor Bayus offers a very rewarding class. There is a lot of work but it's manageable and includes information from that week's lesson. He cares about the students and wants everyone to learn from him and others in the class. Work includes group assignment and individual papers and presentations. He truly takes time to teach real world stuff
There's decent amount of work you have to put into the course but it's not unreasonable . However, he really expects that you have given your best when he's grading your work. Don't expect to get an A on his assignments with mediocrity. What I liked about Professor Bay-us is that he's very accessible when you need to reach out to him for help.
Most rewarding class Ive ever taken at DU. Professor Bayus has high expectations, so dont expect an easy A in his class. He really makes you work for your grade, and pushes you outside of your comfort zone. He truly wants his students to succeed in the business world, and he provides the tools to make sure it happens. Hands down the best teacher
I don't have a strong marketing mind or backgeound, but this course helped me appreciate the discipline and importance of the marketing function. It was a lot of work but MBA classes shouldn't be easy work hard, actively participate in class AND support your conclusions with factual data and you'll do fine in this class.
teve Bayus is one of my favorites by far! He provided real-life, applicable examples that everyone could relate to whether someone was in marketing or accounting. I really appreciated his teaching style and willingness to go the extra mile for his students. Amazing prof!
Prof. Bayus is demanding and requires students to participate even if they are not prepared. So be prepared! This is a real graduate class and he expects us to develop our direction for each strategy. Great Class and I would take him again. Inspirational and a little funny
Professor Bayus is a great instructor. He cares about each student, very involved in learning and making a difference in each student career. It isn't just about taking a course with him it is about learning something that will help you in your career. He makes sure he explains and you understand by doing assignments or class discussion. Thanks
Professor Bayus has a ton of real world experience that transfers well into the classroom. He is demanding, yet has great patience with his students. Be prepared to challenge others in the classroom, including him, as he uses healthy debate to work through the important topics of the course. Highly recommend seeking him out!
One of, if not the best instructor I have had at Davenport. Truly cares about you understanding the course concepts and information. You must do the work but if you fail his course it's because you didn't put forth any effort.
A fast paced Operations Management Course. Deep in actual application of the theories. Classes are great and never ( Ok once) uses a powerpoint. Interactive and be prepared to contribute. Tough but great learning and his style is inspirational. It is a graduate level course. Take his courses if you get a chance y u won't regret it.
He is a very untraditional professor. No lectures. Very knowledgeable. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Very tough class with A LOT of group work, but if you put in the work, you will get the grade you want.
Professor Bayus is hands down the best. He cares about each one of his students even if it does not seem like it. His class is a lot of work & requires a lot out of a student but it is very beneficial to the student once the class is done. He is a very untraditional professor. There are no tests in his class. He's a great resource to have.
Challenging. He has high expectations of everyone in his class. He forces critical thinking and leads thought provoking discussions. Treated us like college seniors and professionals. Great Class, a lot of work but it is worth it!
Steve is not going to hand out any A's to the undeserving. With that said if you get the chance to take his class, don't hesitate. He expects a lot out of his students and isn't afraid to joint them in the trenches. Group leaders be ready to up your game. Last notes: Don't be afraid to ask for help, work hard, communicate effectively, and enjoy
Excellent professor who really cares about his students and takes integrated teaching seriously. Bayus makes the course incredibly applicable to real life, regardless of the industry you are in. His teaching style fostered meaningful class discussions and collaboration which evolved into fantastic colleague relationship and network building.
Exceptional teacher - very proficient and knowledgeable, both academically and professionally. You will work hard but you will thoroughly enjoy the lively discussions with him and your classmates on each weeks assigned readings. Do NOT fall behind-especially in MGMT 754 it moves way to fast. Top 1-2 professors I've had in MBA program by far.
I thought Steven Bayus' Operations Management class was the best one I've had at Davenport. He facilitates discussion so students learn from real-life experience, he reviews how processes and concepts are used in practice, not just supporting the text. Four hour lectures don't apply here. And he brings snacks for evening classes - super nice!
Professor Steve is an amazing teacher. He dominate the content, explains well each topic, easy going and any student can learn quickly.
Highly engaged course discussions, real life experiences, and this is what I've been expecting out of a Grad/MBA level class. I've been very disappointed with the MBA program here at Davenport until now-8th class in. You truly feel energized and inspired leaving class each night after a full day of work. There is homework, grad level, so do it.
Mr. Bayus creates an engaging and dynamic classroom discussion week after week that keeps you interested in the subject matter at hand. His experiences from operations management will be surely beneficial to any business major. You will have homework and have to earn your grade but if you stick to the rubric you will succeed.
Professor Bayus is one of the best Professors I have had. Inspiriational with Real World Experience. Come prepared to participate as the lectures are not traditional. Iinstead interactive with all the classmates, read before class because you may lead the discussions that day. Perfect for MBA students
I have had Professor Bayus a few times now, he is the real deal. The focus is always on student development. He genuinely cares about each of his students and gets to know their strengths and weaknesses to help them become a better decision maker, person, and business professional. Definitely a great choice!
makes you find the reasoning behind even the simple calculations and intrigues you to argue and decide quickly
Prof Bayus loves what he does and had very applicable industry examples. The course was well thought out by him and the other professors. Definitely the best course I've taken at Davenport. Very involved. A good mix of hard numbers and calculations and soft-knowledge of Supply Chain management.
Prof Bayus has a broad range of experience in the real world. With this comes excellent knowledge through this educational course. Learned a lot and motivated to one day become just as experienced in a similar department.
He has a unique style of teaching but by the end of the class, you see why. He likes to challenge each and everything that you say in class and does it to spark conversation. Fantastic man that is here to help.
Awesome professor.
Professor Bayus is an amazing teacher, his method of teaching is hands-on and collaborative. During the class, you review what you read, work through homework problems and get into deeper discussions and sometimes debate on topics reviewed in class. Professor Bayus is an awesome teacher, I highly recommend any of his classes.
One of the best professors I've had
This class was a blast! I would definitely take Professor Bayus again!
Great teacher, loved the way he taught.
This is the 2nd time I have had professor Bayus as a professor in graduate school. He is a phenomenal professor that challenges his students to think critically. He is easily accessible throughout the course of the semester (7 week). He provides in-depth feedback on assignments and grades assignment in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend.
He is a pain, he didn't listen to what you had to say.
Great class. I learned a lot. I really appreciated his flexibility!
Great professor. You can tell he cares about his students and will do anything in his power to get the conversation going. The homework and discussion boards I have to admit were a bit more work than needed, however taking Mr. Bayus as a professor ultimately was one of the best decisions of my college career. Take him and you be pleased.
Mr. Bayus was an absolute wonder to work with. You can tell that he is knowledgeable about his subjects and he cares more about using your thinking skills rather than the actual answer. He also does a great job of making the topics relevant to current events. I always enjoyed attending his weekly RTVs.
Excellent lectures, really engages the students. Made a tough 7 week class enjoyable and one of my favourite classes at Davenport.
Professor Bayus had relatively long homework assignments each week but they pertained to the subject matter well. You will have to participate if you attend his weekly RTVs but he cares a lot more about your thinking than your answer, as someone else said. They were always good discussions and worth the attendance.
I took Professor Bayus at GVSU for MGT 366 and thought he was great! He truly cares about his students' learning and will not take away points if you're wrong about something as long as you have evidence to support why you thought what you did. He is also understanding with extensions on homework if needed. He's a great prof and I would recommend!
Amazing experience! Deep learning is required and challenging Cares about his students and requires deep critical thinking. Pretty Cool
