The material wasn't all that hard to understand, especially if you went to class. At times was boring, but Dr. Berg knows what he is talking about and can clarify if you need help outside of class.

Very knowledgable professor. Class is kind of boring but not too hard. Must read questions on tests very closely. All lecture notes are online which help quite a bit.

Great humble guy. Nice to talk to and easy to find. IF he likes you you can get extra credit for being friendly

he's very monotone, and i always fell asleep in lecture, so i stopped going and just printed off all his lecture notes from his website, and he constantly updates his schedule, so you can stay right along and i still got an A! :)

pretty boring lectures-fell asleep %80 of the time. there to help though. nice guy-tests are OK, quizzes easy. paper at the end is easy--dont worry about the paper-he doesnt read them, just sees if you did it.

Very smart professor. The lectures are great for those who actually care and want to learn. Is very clear, and communicates the knowledge effectivly to the students. I would definitly recommend him. You must read the book, not just the online notes.

I wish he was teaching 242, I really enjoyed his class. It was a little dull at times, but he gave you everything you needed for the tests, labe was interesting and fun. He uses pictues alot on tests and quizes, so look at those, over all really sweet guy, would take him again

He's a great professor. He's really nice. Lab is interesting. Lecture tends to be a little boring. However, he puts his notes online and his tests come straight from his notes, so you never have to go to lecture. You also never have to read the book. I highly recomend him as a professor!!!

Great lab prof but not so good at lecture. He spends most of his time hiding behind his laptop reading his lecture notes. All of his lecture notes are online along with a complete schedule so you really only need to show up for quizzez and exams.

He is an Excellent Prof. He is extremely smart, and you will learn a lot if you truly want to learn. Don't waste your time bringing your laptop to this class, if you IM all hour, you're going to miss a lot. Also, you can't just look at the online notes and expect to do well. Read the Book. He rocks

Lectures are super boring but he gives u everything u need to do well on tests. There are no suprises. Everything u need is on the online notes. Labs are pretty good and there are not really any lab reports.

He is an awesome in lab...don't skip any of those. Don't bother with lecture, his notes are online. Skim over the book otherwise and talk to him outside of class just for fun...he is a pretty funny kooky guy!

Super intelligent professor. Really knows his stuff, and prepares you for higher up classes. Test's make you think outside the box, but if you have any ambition to have a career in science, you will thank him later!

Super intelligent. If you actually get to know him and treat him well you will be in good shape. Has great stories in lab and has fun. lectures are boring but notes are online.

Dr. Berg is a little too smart at times and I think that he thinks students know more than they really do. He is very nice and very fair and his class was an overall good experience. I am looking forward to having him for Cell Biology, but not looking forward to cell biology

Easy class! For lecture he reads straight from his online notes, so you don't even need to show up... and they are extremely boring. Labs are simple, all you need to do is show up and turn in hand-written assignment sheets (results posted online). He offered 2 opportunities for extra credit.

very nice prof. he is willing to help you all the time. he is really smart and knows a lot about science. the online notes, online videos and animations help u understand material better. he is really organized. posts the score asap. grading is fair.if u work little bit. you will be fine in this class. definately take class with him whenever u can

A lot of students didn't like him very well. I thought he was clear and helpful. If you read the outlines that he gives you and use the online practice quizzes, the tests should be fine! I thought he was very helpful during lab as well! If you take the time to ask questions when you need them, he helps you well.

Berg is slightly dull but in his classes you learn a lot and it is easy as long as you read his notes and study a little. He is very helpful outside of class if you ask questions. The people that don't like him are usually poor students.

I love Berg! He lets you know exactually what you need to know for tests, do the formative assessments online, go over the old exams he has posted and you'll do fine! Take him for lab, he is so helpful! I would take another class with him anytime :)

Honestly if you just get to know him he is the nicest professor I have had during my 4 years at winona state- will do anything for his students and wrote me an awesome letter of recommendation. He tells you everything you need to know for the tests- nothing surprising so if you dont do well in his classes its your own fault- not his.

Boring class... I really feel like my intelligence is insulted here. I feel like he treats his students like we're in middle school. Class is easy but he isn't always the nicest person. Perhaps I feel this way because I'm used to 400 level classes but this class is a joke to me. But maybe he'll grow on me as the semester goes on.

Berg doesn't lecture. He sits and waits for students to ask questions. READ THE LECTURE NOTES and you can ace the class without ever showing up. Everything is from the online notes. They are thorough and very helpful. All quizes and tests are multiple choice. Do the formative assessments to study. Nice guy overall.

Don't listen to those bad comments this guy is a good teacher. Read his online notes and go over the practice exams online because they're the same ones that you take in class. Very approachable in lab if you have any questions. But put forth the effort and you'll get on his good side and ace the class no problem.

Dr. Berg is a very good teacher. It isn't necessary to go to class at all, he puts EVERYTHING online. If you listen to the videos and read the notes it's time consuming but far from dificult.

Berg is very quirky and likes to teach. He is WILLING to help you if you ask. Very approachable, likes to talk about common interests. I suggest looking at all of the practices tests, they are word for word for the exams. Just study and you'll be fine. NOT a difficult class if you try!!! But if ur lazy i wouldn't suggest it. Berg is nice & clear.

So I would totally suggest NOT BUYING THE BOOK! Everyone bought theirs and I opened mine once to page through it! His class is easy! You just need to be organized and able to study out of class. I got an A and didn't work that hard! Def. easy!

he is a very nice guy. his lectures get a little boring and sometimes seem like forever. definetly read the book and study his notes -- you will do a lot better on his tests. practice all the essay questions -- not just the ones on the old tests! good guy, recommended. a lot easier than Wilson.

Word of advice: DONT BUY THE BOOK. He takes the notes for you and goes over them in lecture...which is REALLY boring, because he has a monotone. All you have to do for the tests are to study the online notes that he has for lectures. The tests are tricky, but like I said-just study the notes. He's better in lab.

Prof. Berg is funny in his own way, really nice if you talk to him and ask questions in lab. Tests are really detailed. No need for the book just follow online notes and practice tests and you will be fine.

If you must take cell bio take it with him-NOT WILSON.term papers are short and easy,tests are difficult but most cell bio questions ARE complex and detailed and that's just the way it is.He's very knowledgeable and likes to answer questions.LISTEN and TAKE NOTES in lecture and you'll do fine.detailed notes online but make more sense if you attend.

He is kind of dry and boring in lecture, but tests are fair. He has formative assessments online that are very helpful for exams. Also suggest studying a lot of the pictures he has on his online notes. Overall not a bad class or professor.

Professor Berg is a great teacher. His lectures can get to be a little dull and boring with his monotone, but all his notes are on the internet and its easy to just kinda follow along. So long as you read all of his notes youll be fine in lecture. His lab portion can get a little harder, but I hear its easier the other profs.

He is a great teacher. Very direct with all exams. Read the notes thoroughly and you will be fine. Lectures aren't mandatory, but labs are; however, they are not difficult. Just pay attention, it's interesting! He is very willing to answer questions :)

Berg is a great professor. He can be a little hard to listen to during lecture, but he is very nice and helpful during labs. This is a VERY easy class if you took paid any attention to biology in high school. he is monotone during lecture and its easy to fall asleep. but all the lecture notes are online, so you can learn on your own. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. i opened it once. labs are confusing, but if you ask questions, he is VERY helpful.

lectures kinda boring but all notes are online. very organized, fair and levelheaded. practice tests/quizes/etc. provided online r very helpful! pictures and detailed notes provided to help understanding. answers any questions. very approachable and helpful in lab. gets excited about proteins but he knows what he's talking about. take Berg!

Very easy grading, he even drops your worse lab, quiz, and test. Attendence to lecture is very important as his tests do not come from the text but are usually directly taken from his lecture notes. Beware of the midterm and final though, they are not as easy as his tests. Overall I would highly recomend his class and lab.

Everything is listed online so it's not necessary to show up. Study pictures and diagrams, he puts those on the tests. Ask questions! He loves it! DON'T BUY THE BOOK! You never use it.

No need for the book. All notes online. Labs are easy. Grades fairly nice. Lectures are a little dry, but all notes are online. STUDY FOR THE FINAL/MIDTERM!!!!!!!!!! They are way harder than regular tests.
