Great teacher!! He is so excited to teach and helps his students as much as he can!! Extra credit is so easy!!
Great teacher, fun class. Bule is a funny guy. He jokes alot and gets to know his students. He really knows his stuff =) Easiest general credit I've ever earned. Wish all my classes were this easy!
Steve was an awesome teacher. If you go to class you will ace the tests and the reviews help a lot. He was a very nice guy and had a lot of interest in his students.
He is an Ok teacher. You really have to know the material though. Part of the final was to listen to Classical music (Bethoveen, Motzart....) and I dentify who composed it, Identify lots of paintings and who and when they were painted (and famous buildings). He also had us give our opinion of an art piece and it's symolism.
references simpsons and seinfeld. :)
This class was awesome!! I don't like art, but Bule was such a great teacher. Just put a little effort in it, and you will for sure get an A. This class was very intresting too. He is very passionate about his work.
very knowledgeable but i wouldnt recommend him
No Comments
Professor Bule is passionate about his work. The class is a breeze if you study and pay attention. It may be easy, but you really learn a lot and Professor Bule keeps it interesting and fun.
Talks too much. Over analyzes the subject. Loves to pronouce Italian properly. Real art doesn't get started until the 20th centure.
dont take it from him
WE HAVE OTHER CLASSES BESIDES HIS AND I DONT THINK HE REALIZES THAT. HE REQUIRES SO MUCH OF HIS STUDENTS THAT IT IS HARD TO KEEP UP. I WOULDNT RECOMMEND HIM.
Blues class was super lame, dont take art from him. way bad greader.
dont take it from him
All of the Students who have negative things to say about Steve are LAZY. Steve Is the Best Art History teacher at the UVSC. Hey, this is College you sissies. He does realize students are taking other classes. If you need help he will be there for you. Not only does Steve relate all the art to its historical background, he helps you to understand t
I would not recommend this teacher. He gives out too much work and his tests are very difficult.
Steve is a fantastic teacher. This was my third class from him, and I am NOT and art or humanities major. He loves the subject and is very fair in the grading. He sets his class up so the students learn the material, and expects effort from them. I would take another class from him if I could. I totally recomend him for any class! USE FLASH CARDS!
I loved Steve's class! There wasn't any homework except for an essay at the end. The tests are difficult, but this is college, you are expected to study and actually LEARN something. Seriously, I ABSOLUTETLY loved his class. You should be good at memorizing things though (ex. dates, periods, concepts, artists, etc.
Funny guy, semi-hard mid-term....really hard final. Be prepared to study and memorize tons of artwork
really the lectures are kind of boring because i have no interest in art whatsoever, but its an easy class, he is nice and funny and if you just do the assignments the way they are explained they are cake! its a good class, i reccomend it!
Professor Bule was awesome! He made the class interesting and he really knows what he is talking about. He cares about students individual progress so he is always willing to help you out. As long as you do the assignments and study for the tests the class is a breeze.
This class was awesome!! i loved it!! fair and easy grading and this man knows EVERYTHING about art! take this class!!
Excellent teacher, knows his stuff. Hilarious man, but his class still bores me too tears! I am officially done with art for my generals and it was painless so I highly recommend him!
Excellent professor. Very helpful and personal. Cared about actual teaching and did an amazing job.
His midterm and final are ridiculous. He doesn't alow hardly anytime to finish. The class is extremely boring and he thinks everyone is as interested in art as he is. I hated this class
Don't really need to buy the book. I did and I didn't really use it. If you don't go to class then buy the book. I went to class. This class is so easy. TAKE IT!
The professor looks like Oscar Bluth from Arrested Development. He dresses and acts just like him. He says very funny random comments in class. Interesting class, but boring.
this class is very easy, i think he is really funny, he doesn't grade on your artistic ability, just if you complete the assignment and follow the rules
Good teacher
I thought he did as good of job as possible making art interesting. He is funny. He likes and talks about sports. He knows his stuff. Class is optional but he gives answers to tests if you go... so go and get and A. Not hard
this teacher is very rude he uses students artworks as bad examples in front of the whole class and embarasses them.
His class is so boring. You can easily sleep in it. He requires students to remember pieces of art and midterm and final both have matching and full in the blank on it, which is HARD! I wouldn't take his class if I am someone who has no passion in art. There are way more good general classes to take then this one.
This class is very hard for an entry level class. I only took it because it was required. The only hard thing about the class is the Mid-term and Final. They are SO ridiculous. If you don't love art you will find this class to be difficult. He requires you to memorize TONS of art pieces for the final. I would take this class from another teacher.
This class is alright, not easy but not so hard you'll fail. Homework you have 3 projects & 2 critiques, which he does ask for a lot, but still able to accomplish. The mid-term wasn't hard, but the final is insane. You have to memorize over 50 paintings with their name, artist, & time era. But you don't really have to attend class.
I really liked professor bule. I wasn't able to attend class very often because I'm pregnant and had REALLY high blood pressure, unexpectedly. His mid term was easy, and as long as you actually put an ounce of thought in your critiques, you'll get full credit! Easy A for me.
Professor Bule's Art 1010 class was a breath of fresh air in the midst of a super hard semester for me. He is super funny and his lecture is interesting and captivating. Definitely take his class for your fine arts credit.
I enjoyed having this professor. His lectures cover everything that he requires you to read in the text book. Admittingly, he does talk a little fast, and his tests are a little difficult. But I passed the class feeling that he did a sufficient job teaching the content.
I was extremely bored in this class, but that was partially my fault. He doesn't ask much. If you listen in class it isn't very hard to remember what he wants you to know.
Professor Bule was definitely fun and had some interesting stories to tell, the projects given throughout the semester were great and I loved them. The only thing I disliked was the amount of information he wanted you to memorize for the mid-term/final was ridiculous for a 1010 art class.
Professor Bule was such a good professor. I was not looking forward to this class because I expected it to be hard and boring but Professor Bule kept class interesting and I ended up loving class. I would recommend him to everyone. Tests are hard and mostly memorization but if you study your notes, you'll get a good grade.
One of the most passionate educators I've ever had the pleasure to learn from.
Steven Bule is a GREAT professor; he is NOT an easy 'A.' He is clear with his expectations, very helpful, and has a quirky sense of humor. He gives you a list of the works of arts that you'll be studying. His tests are tough, but fair. He tells you what to focus on. He will always answer any questions you have out of class.
Funny guy, passionate about what he teaches.
Good.
Amazing teacher! If you love art and history, this is the perfect guy to learn from. If you study and attend class, you will get a good grade. he doesn't do trick questions or pop quizzes. He is very clear cut , to the point, and accommodating. You will know what is expected of you on all of the tests, aka, no surprises. Also, he's hilarious!
Steven Bule is a great professor. He's very passionate about art history, particularly the Renaissance. Show up to class! While attendance is non-mandatory, take good notes and review them. He is fair because he has clear expectations and follows through. You will have to study, but it pays off.
I went on the Study abroad trip with Steve Bule to Italy. It was incredible the amount of knowledge and information has learned and shared over the years. It was incredible!
He was a great teacher, really focused on the subject, and that was really helpful. Only had to do three easy art assignments, then a midterm and a final. As well as two art critiques throughout the semester. He is very passionate about the subject.
Had a great time in class. A perfecy balance of lecture and comedy!
I really disliked this class. Bule thinks he is funny when he picks on students. The lectures are painfully long and he has zero words on the slides. He just talks. Not much of what he says goes on the midterm or final. There are 4 short papers where you analyze art. Its tough to write as much as he wants. Easy A if you do well on the 2 tests
Dr. Bule is a funny guy. He gives great lectures, really knows his stuff when it comes to art history. Taking detailed notes is essential for his class, and lots of memorization for the tests, so be prepared for that. I was in a large class, so I felt like I didn't want to bug him sometimes, but he was always helpful and easy to get a hold of.
GOOD TEACHER AND ALWAYS HELPS.
He keeps you interested. I highly recommend not skipping lectures. If you put the effort into your notecards and study them a week before the test, I guarantee that you will pass, but don't fail more than one test, seeing as these are the only things that make up your grade besides a 5 page essay. You won't need a textbook unless you skip class.
Very fun class! You learn a lot about art, but it's definitely not boring. You have a few projects that are fun and pretty easy! You only write two papers and have two tests, that's it! Go to class and take notes and pay attention and you'll be fine! He's very funny too, always cracks jokes and makes everyone laugh.
Very easy class. I am always happy to show up to this class because I met amazing people in it. The lesson are easy to understand and you will need to take notes. Tests are super easy. He also tries to be funny but you will still laugh at his jokes no matter what.
at the beginning of this course I thought I was going to absolutely fail. it wasn't as bad as I thought , his lectures are long and he doesn't give much out to work on by yourself but you just need to study extra hard for the midterm and final! like GOOD STUDY SESSION
Just memorize what he asks and you'll do great on the tests. Definitely recommend this class to anyone! Awesome man, super funny.
Every class is a lecture except for test day. He talks about different pieces of art every day and the tests he puts them on the screen and you have to identify all you need to know about the art work. It is very simple straight forward class. Just study the art works before the test and you'll be fine. He is awesome.
Prof. Bule is a really great professor! He is very clear about what to expect from the class & there are only 3 exams & a paper! He doesn't take attendance, but he covers a lot in the lectures & it's important to take notes. I like art history anyway, but he made it really interesting and fun! He knows his stuff & he is very approachable.
You can tell he's really passionate about Art History. I was able to learn a lot because I attended class everyday. You don't really need the textbook - I never opened mine. There's very few assignments, but the few assignments are very time consuming. I took the live interactive class and it was an easy A.
Steve Bule is one of my favorite professors at UVU. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about art history, and that makes his lectures very exciting if you have an interest in art. He's sarcastic, and makes the same jokes every semester, but at the end of the day he wants you to succeed. Tests require a LOT of studying. Don't put it off.
He is very passionate about what he teaches and wants you to succeed in his class, with that said he does give out assignments with specific requirements you have to meet. MEET THEM! Tests are just a lot of memorization, there is only a midterm and a final. Overall great teacher.
I loved this class. Professor Bule is very passionate and makes art history exciting. Be careful, don't put off studying for the tests they're pretty hard.
Super chill guy, the class isn't hard at all. Attendance doesn't matter, but if you don't guy it's easy to be confused about the tests. I went probably 90% of the time and got an A pretty easy.
It is a 100% lecture class, so get ready to sit there and listen for a good hour. Don't get me wrong, he is a great guy and cracks some pretty funny jokes. There is 3 projects, and 2 art critiques that he is an easy grader on. The tests is what will really make or break you. I don't attend class, just study from the book, and I am getting a B.
Steve was such a fun teacher! He actually made art enjoyable, and was hilarious. I loved taking his class and felt very involved whenever I went.
Great class! Exams and the paper make up the entire grade though, so it requires lots of studying.
Bule can't pronounce words correctly.
I LOVED Steve! I took him for both Art History 2710 and 2720 because I liked him so much. His grading is very clear. Your entire grade is based off of 3 tests and 1, 5 page research paper. You need to STUDY to pass the tests. You need to know the Time period, artwork name, artist, and what style it is. Overall though, if you study- you'll do fine!
Professor Bule is a great teacher and is really passionate about what he teaches. The class is hard, you're only graded on 3 tests and a paper. The tests are very specific, but if you study, you'll do fine. Textbook was recommended by him and I've only used it a handful of times, he tells you everything you need to know in the lectures.
Professor Bule is an excellent Art History instructor--prepared, funny, real and very enthusiastic about Art History. You can get your A if; You study the artists as soon as he posts the lists, Pay attention on your final essay and get it done early! and Go to Class!!! He doesn't require it, but it REALLY helps--plus he's better than any textbook.
Love this teacher. Grade was based off 2 tests and an 8 page essay. If you attend class and take good notes, you will do fine on the exams. The exams are long and you end up writing 6 or 7 pages of information. He gives you the questions that will be on the exam too. Highly recommend him for any class and he's super personable. Great guy.
One of my favorite classes because he's so fun and obviously is passionate about what he teaches. I truly gained a new appreciation for art. You could get away with not buying the textbook, but it's still good to have and he gives you the option to buy cheaper editions. 3 projects, 2 critiques, hard(ish) midterm, and the final. Loved this class!
Steve was great at making this class engaging despite the large class size. You NEED to study hard since the total grade is 3 tests and 1 paper, but I learned so much and his great lectures made me want to learn more. He is also super approachable and always willing to work with you. You can definitely tell that he loves his job.
Prof Bule is amazing and his class is so easy if you're willing to put in the effort. Attendance isn't mandatory but is advised. You only are graded on four things, 3 tests and an essay.
Took this class and ART 2710 on his Italy study abroad trip--best experience of my life! He is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about all the artwork we saw from Ancient times up to the Baroque period and a lot of works in between. It was like a major crash course, but it was basically impossible to fail unless you made zero effort.
Steven Bule is a great professor who cares a lot about his subject. I was very worried at first because the class consists of three essay tests, and another essay on a surprise piece of art. However, as long as you attend (and endure) the lectures, and study WELL, you will pass. The textbook wasn't really necessary, I shouldn't have bought it.
I really enjoyed the class. His lectures were interesting, but they were pretty heavy. Study hard for his tests, he tells you exactly what will be on them. He is a little bit nerdy with the jokes he makes. Good teacher overall.
I hate art, and this was my favorite class all semester. Very funny, very clear expectations for the class. Tests and assignments are very straight forward. Hard not to get an A if you come to class.
He's a fantastic teacher, I signed up for his art history class because of the reviews he had on this website and I haven't regretted it for a bit. He has you buy the textbook but it is amazing and you can find it for really cheap. He makes sure you know what to expect on everything and is a great lecturer.
Steve is Stanley Tucci's twin. He makes pretty funny comments in class. At the beginning of the term he says you need the textbook, but I never opened mine. He grades based on 3 tests and a paper--that's it. As long as you go to class and take notes during his lectures you will be fine. You can tell that he is passionate about the art. I loved it!
Only 3 tests and 1 research paper. He's hilarious and the lectures are actually enjoyable. No extra credit so study hard for the tests. Large class so if you have to miss you can get away with it but I wouldn't recommend it. He's very clear about what will be on tests.
Basically, this class is based on 4 grades: three exams and one research paper. He's really kind about grading and makes the lectures really fun. I got a textbook but I never used it, all I had to do was show up to the lectures, takes notes, and if I had any more questions I would go to Khan Academy.
He's pretty clear about what is expected in the class. The grading of the assignments are pretty lenient and study guides are available with the information expected to be known for the tests. Attendance does not affect your grade. The textbook is not necessary, but is helpful for studying and especially if you choose not to attend class.
This class was so easy and really if you showed up you did well but even if you did skip a couple of classes it was not hard at all to learn the info taught. There were only two tests (midterm and final) neither were complicated if you new most of the material and there are only a couple of assignments (which does mean you need to do well).
Professor Bule only gives lectures. While participation and attendance is not required, it is very helpful and almost guarantees good grades on his tests. You are only graded on 3 tests and one paper. The tests are all formatted exactly the same and if you go to class they're a breeze. He grades the paper a little harder, though.
You can easily be distracted or lost in his powerpoints. If you have a basic knowledge of art you need to meorize some works and you will pass. Book was never used. Don't buy it.
Great teacher. He really loves what he teaches. He has a dry sense of humor which I love. The paper we were asked to write was absurd grading wise, but his tests were manageable.
Steve is awesome. He's very clear about expectations in his class. He makes art history super interesting and is very fun to listen to. Your entire grade is 3 tests and a course paper; once you take the first unit test, you don't have to remember anything from that unit for the next tests, etc. I would suggest study groups. Memorization heavy.
One of my all-time favorite professors. Hilarious, fun, engaging, VERY knowledgeable, kind, all of the above. He can be tough when it comes to grading, but it's a tough love kind of thing. He's never, ever demeaning, but will let you know when you're not doing so hot and immediately encourages you instead of belittles you. Really, really great guy.
It is way too easy to not pay attention during his lectures. He tries to be funny but honestly he really is not. Your grade is based entirely on three tests, there is a paper but it really does not help your grade at all. If you fail two tests then you fail the class, which is terrible especially for someone who already has test anxiety.
I've always dreaded taking art history class, but this prof makes the class super enjoyable. He is passionate about his subject, allows for your student feedback, uses humor (in the form of dad jokes mostly) in class and is super personable. Wish he offered more classes because he made an average subject pretty awesome.
This class was awesome. You have to have a passion for art and the history, of course. Lectures are entertaining and really insightful. Just be ready to take lots of notes and study them!! This was my favorite class of the semester!
Steve is a wonderful and passionate professor. However, the quality of your grade mostly depends on which of his TAs gets your test. Grading vs. expectations were not consistent and were not fair.
I loved being in ART1010. I may be biased- I love learning about art. But I loved the structure of the class and how he guided the notes. The professor cares the success of students. He makes sure to remind everyone about any and all upcoming assignments. The projects may seem intimidating but are easy. He creates a study guide which is helpful!
One of my favorite professors! I've always dreaded taking ARTH but he made the class humorous, enjoyable, fun, and engaging. He grades fairly and on time. if you don't go to class don't bother taking this class. You need to go to the lectures to pass. If you go to the lectures then I don't think the textbook is needed at all. GET HIM IF YOU CAN!
Professor Bule is hilarious and a great guy. His class is all lecture and has 100+ students, so take that into account. You will only have four grades in the class, so pay attention. The three tests require memorization, but he provides a good list of what may come up on them. The term paper is grueling. All assignments are graded by TAs.
Do not buy the textbook! If you show up to class and take good notes, you will do more than fine. He has great lectures, three tests and one paper. This class was enjoyable to me and art history is not one of my interests whatsoever. He is a great professor, and I would definitely take a class from him again.
Let me preface this by saying: I don't enjoy art. So maybe that's why I was so bored every day. Steve was funny enough at the beginning of class, but once he started lecturing he lost me completely. He doesn't take attendance, but if you don't show up you'll miss out on important information. Don't buy the textbook.
His lectures go very quickly and you'll need to take lots of notes. I got by without getting the textbook at all. He's very passionate about the subject. The tests mostly rely on memorization. He's pretty funny and willing to help when you need it.
Professor Bule was great. There are very few assignments but failing the tests will automatically mean you fail the class. He does test reviews and overall it was an easy class. I really appreciated his preparation and humor. I finished this class with a greater liking to art.
He wants you to pass, and prepares you well. lecture notes give you exactly what you need for the tests, and if you are good at memorization, you will do great. one big research paper, but SOOOO much time to do it. youll be fine! love him. he told us to buy a used textbook and use the money we saved to go buy cool Vans. hes the best.
Steve is a wonderful professor because he truly cares about his students. I have had him for 3 semesters, for 3 different classes and he is amazing. His humor is dry, and I love that! The tests are hard, but if you go to class and prepare well you will get a good grade! It's been a privilege being in his class.
Professor Bule was one of the most boring professors I have ever had. While he is funny at the beginning of class, once he goes deep into lectures it's all monotone and boring. I appreciate art a lot more from taking this class, but the professor seemed to show off how smart he is and all the cool places he went to. Textbook is useless don't get it
Prof Bule was one you could definitely tell he cares a lot about what he's teaching. The class I was in was all lectures and those can get a bit boring. It's sometimes tough to know what is important and what isn't. After your first exam, you kinda know what he's looking for and it's easier after that. If you study before the exams you'll be ok
Professor doesn't give any chances to makeup. Doesn't explain if you need any help or don't understand. Disappointed in this course! Students didn't even show up for class until the end and recieved a better grade than I did when I attended the whole semester.
I LOVED Professor Bule. I took Art History from him and I was nervous because I don't even really like history but this is by far one of my absolute favorite classes! You really do need to go to class to get the notes, but I really enjoyed lecture. There are 3 tests and a paper but he usually hints at what will be on the tests. I learned so much!
On the final, four of the art pieces on which we were tested were added to the Works of Art list (our study guide) just days before the exam, and we received no notification. I made my flashcards two weeks ahead of time to ensure my success on the final, yet this curveball tanked my grade, despite my preparation. Good teacher, bad decision.
There are a lot of lectures, but he is super funny so they are easy to sit through! As long as you show up to class, do the assignments and study before tests, you'll have an easy A!
If you are not good at memorization do not take this class!! Mostly boring, monotone lecture. There are only 4 assignments in the class and if you do poorly on 2 you've failed. I would have appreciated more assignments geared towards different types of learners. You can tell he's knowledgeable and passionate though.
Do NOT take his class. I wish I did not choose him as a professor. He is not helpful or understanding. I have tried to reach out to him countless times and he has not helped one bit. I am frustrated. This class is also SO HARD. He only grades you on 2 Critiques, 3 projects a mid-term and a 2 part final. Worst professor.
He is the worst professor. This professor does not help you out and does not answer your emails. His class is awful and hard. I would NEVER take this class again or take his class EVER. Trust me.
I have never been in such a worthless class. Class discussions are non existent & he will take your questions and change them into whatever HE wants to talk about. Hes a unsympathetic human textbook who assumes the prior knowledge and passion of his students. Hes like on of those factual recordings at museums. Save your time and money & don't take.
YOU WON'T PASS THIS CLASS IF YOU DON'T GO. That being said, Bule is really funny. I'm an art major who hates AH classes but he made this fun and enjoyable for me. I learned a lot. You are only graded on 4 assignments, though: 3 tests and a 7pg essay so be prepared to take a lot of notes. Making friends in class to share notes with helps a lot too!
Prof Bule was great. He was very understanding & would work with students if they were struggling. He made class entertaining even if you weren't interested in art history. Attendance wasn't mandatory but it definitely helped. Only graded on 3 exams & a research paper. We had a book assigned but I hardly used it- maybe 3 times. Overall good class.
Prof Blue was awful. I took Art to get credit, he made it way more difficult then it needed to be. He gave me a F on my art project even though im not an art major, and not artistic. Test were much harder than needed to be. He expects you to be a art expert. Lectures are boring Dull and dry. He turns of the lights at 9AM and puts the class to sleep
Lecture heavy class. Your grade is made up of 2 Critiques, 3 projects, and 2 tests. Pretty lenient grader. HOWEVER, if you fail the midterm AND the final, you automatically fail the class. If you rely on assignments to compensate for poor test taking, don't take this class. Tests are NOT all multiple choice. Bad at responding to emails/questions
TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR!!!! Lectures are long, assignments are graded harshly, and most of your grade is based on 2 tests - midterm and final. I don't think a single person in my class of 50 students got an A. If you're taking art 1010 as a GE class, take it with another professor.
Dr. Bule is a legend. He is the kindest and most knowledgeable guy. 3 tests and one final paper. He gives amazing lectures and helpful study guides. If you don't take notes and start studying for the tests about a week before, though, you won't do well. Always reach out to him for help; he can be very accommodating. Love this guy! A real gem!!
Bule is a very fun guy. At the beginning of the semester, he is very clear about what he expects from students, and if you read the rubric for assignments, you will get an easy A. The midterm is a bit more difficult, but if you listened, you can get a B easy. The 2 critiques & 3 projects aren't too bad, you just need to put in a little effort.
Hes a genuine guy who gets on task and stays on topic the whole class. You really learn what you need to in this class as long as you pay attention during lectures.
If you're interested in art history, this is your class. Lectures were engaging, passionate, and informative (especially as preparation for the exams). Attendance is essential. Exams were somewhat demanding, but straightforward and predictable. If you advocate for yourself (and are putting the work in), he will always help you.
He is not accommodating. I got a 0 on my art critique just because I didn't go to a museum because of circumstances out of my control. I still did everything else. He keeps changing due dates. He sometimes just doesn't respond to emails at all. I actually wish we had more homework just so the 5 huge assignments don't ruin our grade.
Professor Bule was the worst. The mid term is extremely hard, I didn't meet a single person who got over a C-!!!! He thinks we are all majoring in art so everything is very in depth and complex, instead of an art 1010 class. This class was 10x harder than art 2010 from a different professor. Bule is very hard to understand and not helpful.
The class grade is based off of 3 tests and one paper. If you are good at memorization of names, dates, and other details you'll do amazing! I love art so this class was interesting and Professor Bule is really funny and passionate about the subject.
Mr. Bule was a great professor. He gives lots of details & information in his lectures, so be sure to take good notes. You can get an A if you listen fully, take in-depth notes, and make good flashcards to review before the test. There was never anything in the tests that wasn't discussed in the lectures. I looked forward to this class every time.
Professor Bule is an amazing teacher and is very passionate about art history! You need to be ready to memorize a lot but I think the class was worth it!
I loved this class!! It reminded me a lot of the AP classes I would take in high school because it was lecture-heavy. I love the professor's passion and sarcastic remarks the whole class to keep things pretty light-hearted. I learned a lot in the class, and even though you are graded on 3 tests and 1 research paper, he gave really helpful feedback.
I love Dr. Bule! He is one of my favorite professors! He really cares about the subject and truly wants you to succeed. Attendance is mandatory. You will not pass if you do not show up. It is purely lectures, 3 exams, and 1 paper. The exams are closed note so you have to memorize and analyze. He gives the topic for the paper and it's around 8 pages
Professor Bule is honestly the worst Professor I have ever had. The class is graded by 4 assignments. 1 research paper and 3 exams. His lectures are extremely boring. This is the second time Ive taken this class and this is the most discouraging and non-helpful Professor I have ever had. There is no hope if you are struggling in Bules class
This professor is terrible! He doesn't respond to emails. He doesn't give any assignments. There are a total of maybe 3. The tests are hard because he can't teach. He jumps back and forth all the time and you always have to teach yourself because he isn't going to. He can barely pass his own tests. Take another class.
Professor Bule is amazing for the right kind of student. 100% lecture based class, and everything has to be hand-written. If I have one critique it's that. It would be great to be able to take notes on my computer, but aside from that he's wonderful! Passionate, knowledgeable, and interesting. Be willing to work, but he's a great professor.
Dr. Bule is the best! He doesn't take attendance, but you'll want to be there for every lecture because there is a lot of information. It's a lot of work to get a good grade because there are only 3 exams and a final paper. It is a lot of memorizing but not too difficult. He makes the lectures really enjoyable and I would recommend taking his class
Really nice professor, really interesting lectures. Had a few assignments that weren't too bad. The tests were pretty long, with a lot to memorize, but if you studied, it was pretty easy. Great class!
He is great. He's very funny but make sure you have a notebook and pencil. He is old school. His canvas is not helpful though so email and ask questions. His lectures are mostly interesting and he adds in funny comments. I would take again, and his projects are very easy.
I took ARTH400R a lecture class and loved the course and the professor! His expectations are clear and he truly cares for the material and his students. it's art history so of course it is all lectures but they are very interesting. Only a few writing assignments that are pretty easy.
I loved having him as a teacher. His class was very lecture heavy, so it was important to take good notes so that you would be able to do well on the exams. He was very passionate and knowledgeable about art and I found his lectures super interesting!
