He's great!..and easy on the eyes.
This professor is nice and laid back. As of now, he only has 4 major essays throughout the semester. To be honest I don't really think he reads them but he is nice enough to give you full credit in points. The only ehh thing is that he doesn't teach. If you have a question he'll just tell you to find it in the book. But, it's ok,he's good looking..
Proffesor is very down to earth and funny will recommend to others and very muscular !! ;)
Professor is very down to earth and always engages the class in discussions for participation and is knowledgeable on what he teaches. class is almost always a blast. definitely recommend for enc1101 if you want to improve your writing skills.
Take him! He loves to do class discussions! Oh, by the way he's hot and muscular!
Great professor, loves engaging in conversations with students. Very helpful and his work isn't difficult, he not only teaches but also worries about his students and their grades. I recommend him 100%
Handsome loves to teach by discussions will help you write better highly reccmd
If you want to learn anything, don't take this professor. He's very nice and funny, but he's lazy. He gave zero feedback on my papers, and never physically taught anything in class- it consisted of discussions on the weekly literature readings and in-class writing. If know how to write properly it's an easy-A class, but I won't take him again.
Favorite professor at dade this far. He's a down to earth goofball that makes the class environment fun and comfortable all while pushing us to our full potential. You do need the book, he gives plenty of class work from it but never actually collects it. No midterm and the final is take home. Easiest A I have ever gotten! TAKE HIM!!!!!!
Don't take this professor, you aren't going to learn anything. He didn't give any feedback on my papers, and never taught anything in class. You have to write a lot almost 4 essays per week. I wont take him again.
In all honesty, professor Chapman was an awesome professor. He taught well. The class was rigorous and he challenged me with my writing skills and I received constructive criticism on my essays. I would recommend him to anyone taking enc1102.
Professor Chapman was an excellent professor. He had many writing exercises that we had to complete but overall he has made me a better writer and thinker. He loves class discussions. He's funny and also inspirational. He doesn't give that much feedback on papers but his class is an easy A If you complete all necessary assignments on the syllabus.
This is an amazing prof, he is very flexible you need to do a lot of writing - Journal Responses like 13-14 (one to two pages long) and like 3 essays. I would recommend him for both ENC classes. You will need the book to get the Journal Responses he sometimes uses the book in class. Easy grader.
He's great! All you do is journals & 3 major essays. He likes to have class discussions & barely lectures. He doesn't really collect the class work & he grades really easy.
I would not recommend this professor at all. I am a hard working student who goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure Im successful and he made it very difficult. Syllabus was extremely unorganized and confusing, going to class and being asked to turn in assignments without knowing they were due happens often. Not a terrible prof but yea

This is the most amazing professor I have ever had! He is extremely helpful and is extremely clear in what he wants out of you. He respects his students and helps out a lot with turning in work that you miss. Most people give him a poor grading because they hated all of the writing, but the more you write the better you get. No tests! A+ professor!
Good professor. fair grader, and clear about assignments. You will have to write a lot of essays, not too long but around 2-3 a week. it will improve your writing skills.
I have to say that his class is mainly based on completion. He skims through the essays and just looks for format and the number of pages it should be. Doesn't give feed back, peer revision is the most you'll get as feedback, be prepared to write essays at least every other class as well as the ones assigned for homework and journals on the reading
He lectures, it is obvious he wants you to learn and do good. BUT, he isn't very nice when you ask questions, chances are he'll just stare and then ignore you and move on. 15 journal responses, no tests/quizzes. 3 essays, 1 presentation. BTW doesn't give feedback just peer revision.
He lectures a lot. 15 journal responses, can't remember how many quizzes or test we took. But for sure less than 4. 1 presentation and 3 essays. Does not give feedback on papers. He is not very helpful when it comes to questions. He tries to help you but majority of the time, you have to learn it on your own.
Does not give feedback unless you ask for it, doesn't let you know your grade when he hands back papers or when you ask for it. All the reviews here said he was easy but he's only easy if you enjoy tons of work. 15 journal responses, 2 major papers, 1 project. Extra credit is offered but it is ridiculous! He's nice but the workload is too much.
Expect to write a lot. You have 15 journal responses, 3 essays, and a pointless presentation. He is more of a completion professor as he just checks off your work. Does not give feedback unless asked to. You have 4 chances to be absent in his class after that your grade drops half a letter each time no matter the excuse.
Best english professor at Miami Dade, hands down. Take him if you ever get the chance. He's really tough on you about your writing but it makes you a better writer. He's really nice and funny and helps you out a lot. You have to journal responses and a portfolio but it's an easy grade. Do the work, and you get an A. it's that simple.
15 JOURNAL RESPONSES, 5 ESSAYS. 2 JOURNAL RESPONSES DUE FOR EACH CLASS. HE IS GOOD ABOUT FEEDBACK IF YOU ASK FOR IT, OTHER THAN THAT YOU GET NOTHING.
So many essays....
He's intimidating and awkward, just assigns work and doesn't say much, he never really taught the class, paper due almost every class, you wont get feedback unless you submit some form, doesn't let you know how you're doing in the class, just a bad experience overall.
My first semester in college and this guy made me want to just give up on life. Here is a break down of his class... 28 essays so you are CONSTANTLY writing, doing student in class revisions and the only "lectures" he gives is making smart sarcastic comments about his students. He is not caring about anyone else but himself. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR.
This class consists of numerous papers, about 20 journal responses, 10 in-class writing assignments and 5 major Essays, he doesn't give feedback unless asked for, in class all you do is write he barely talks. At one point in the class he was really harsh with grading my work but at the end I passed perfectly fine, he makes you work for your grade
He's a great teacher with a funny humor. The class is intense due to how many papers he makes you write. Overall, great professor & I would take again no doubt.
I was a little nervous about the amount of writing but I really improved, English is not my favorite. Classes were fun and my English is much better.
This professor doesn't really teach, all he does is give essays. You do an essay every single class and every day for homework. It's exhausting and boring, nothing interesting about this class. His sarcasm makes you not want to ask for help, i reccommend another professor if you don't have the time nor the patience to be writing a bible everyday.
Hey its English comp I was able to get the help I needed and the professor was available. If you don't want to be a great writer the class is going to be a challenge but nothing over the top geez I got an A.
Professor Chapman I loved his class he is a great teacher and humble. He definitely teaches you how to write, just don't be a slacker. Highly Recommended.
I get why so many people don't like the class, but honestly its worth to me because I write better and the topics we write about are relatable and I get feedback instantly on all papers. I learn something every class by peer reviews, some just want it to be easy or don't care.
He doesn't really teach you anything, just gives out a topic to write about. usually essays from 500-1,500 words. He's pretty nice, and I would take him again. just beware of all of the writing he gives out for homework, and classwork.
This class is really fun when we talk about the essay topics and it's not the same old stuff I learned a lot more in the class than 4 years of high school combined. Professor is so helpful if you can't learn something is wrong.
Real professor cares about students I was surprised at his patience help was amazing Answering emails and helping me with my papers was always sensible/ do the work theres no BS with this guy you either want to do what it takes to pass with an A or no I would rec. this class to all this was my 2nd time takin 1101 bcuz I was lazy the 1st time.
One of the best professors at MDC. The class is not always easy but he makes it fun and interesting. If you do everything he says, you will not get a bad grade. He is always there for you and helps you out whenever necessary. He is actually one of the few professors who actually want you to pass their class. I got a letter of recommendation frm him
Wow I really like this prof. Teaching style I like how he helps you understand how to write like a pro. Not for nothing but I enjoy the class even though for me it was not easy it's like learning a new way to think outside the box I really got a lot out of writing a lot. Best English teacher and very motivating you do the work it is really worth it
He is an excellent Professor. I love him from all my heart. Very very helpful, nice, friendly. He gives extra credit and he is very fair with grading. He is very clear with what he explains and I would definitely recommend him for anyone!! This professor is really good and I really enjoyed his class so much!
He's okay. He gives a lot of essays so get ready to write everyday.
Im confused by people saying things like "Lots of assignments- You have to write a lot of essays" NEWS FLASH, if you don't want to read or have to do writing assignments you shouldn't be in college! Professor Chapman is so cool, his lectures are interesting and fun he teaches the material very well. Assignments are easy!
I had a balance between work and school schedule prof was understanding which I appreciate very much overall my experience was good I had to take 15 credits and this wasn't the hardest class. people that don't take it seriously it's either easy or a joke to me it was intensive enough but not dumbed down. Some people in class don't speak eng.
If you really want to be a good writer his class is perfect if you don't like writing you should get another prof. Or just do it class is doable the peer reviews I dreaded bc illiterate classmates r never come ready no book no paper no pencils same think theyr getting in to University lmao I was dual enrolled so I see why they are bitter he's OK
Although the work load is pretty big, he's an amazing teacher! Definitely would take again if I had to, helped me better my writing skills through the various papers he had us do.
By far the best teacher I have yet to have in college. He explained things well during each class, he is a total sweetheart I found him to be very respectful, hilarious, and all around an amazing person. I would gladly take his class again. Just write journal essays, keep notebook, and you should be able to pass the class A+ if you wrk, F if not
Gives way too many in-class assignments, and take home essays, most of which he doesn't even read. Nice guy, we had some pretty interesting conversations as a class, but never gave feedback. So. Much. Writing.
The amount of work you do for this class is overwhelming. I honestly thought I was going to fail, but I ended up with a B in the class. This guy made me hate my first semester of college. SO MANY ESSAYS IT'S DRAINING, but I did improve my writing skills. He's pretty funny at times. Also attendance matters you can't miss more then 4 classes.
The class is challenging for all levels if you are a good student in general don't worry but if you are mediocre probably not the teacher for you. He gives feedback just send him a copy of your work I ALWAYS got feedback on every paper. Yeah there's a lot of 2 paged essays but that's how I earned A. He won't drop you so withdraw urslf. He cool!
Professor is very helpful & reasonable, so there really aren't reasons to fail. A lot of students complained about how difficult his class is, its not, but it might be if you're lazy. Grades will depend almost entirely on doing the work :)But you should pass SO LONG AS you do the assigned journals and essays and portfolio. Supprtive encouraging
Material is tough on its own, but Professor did not try to make it harder. If something wasn't clear, it was easy to receive an explanation. He's available though e-mail allows you freedom to write. I'll miss his class fun all semester. He's passionate about grammar and rhetoric-I learned in it well.
Respect the man is intent on doing excellent teaching he wants students to prevail. He gave me 2nd chance and I realized that opportunity I'm grateful for this teacher. It's totally up to YOU he is going to guide you through, it is not McDonald's college but I'm lovin it! Blessings from above.
He is not the typical English teacher you get a chance to actually learn academic writing. He can be playful, serious, and caring but if you give up he reaches out to help. He motivated me made me laugh out loud and think more seriously about my self knowledge and I gained confidence writing it's not hard but not too easy can't explain it
Prof. Chapman is one of the best professor in MDC. He is interesting in your success. personally, he helps me to improve my grammar he often share material with all the class which are helpful in order to do your assignments. Prof. Chapman you are a good professor!!:)
Profesor chapman is an excellent profesor when it comes to teachers and helping students the only downside of this class is that there is a lot of work to be done in 16 weeks.
Prof. Chapman is a really good professor. There is a lot of writing in his class but it helped me to become a better writer. I would recommend him.
He's a bit strict on some assignments but other than that he's the perfect English professor I had my first year at MDC . He helped me improve writing and I am so much better at it and most of the assignments are good do what you're supposed to do! Strongly recommend taking if you really want to be a great writer he's great actually remembered me!
Took class in Spring the professor is understanding but motivated me too, I wasn't sure if I could do composition but after talking to him I was confident his classes always made me glad that I went instead of feeling like I'm wasting my time. I definitely think it's a valuable lesson in each class, glad I didn't have to repeat after a 2nd time
Awesome professor! He is very down to earth, and once you get in the grove of his teaching style he is great. Attendance is mandatory and being on time to class is important to him. If willing to do work you will do well you want to read ALL of the assigned readings and do ALL assigned essays and journal entries to get an A. GIVES POSITIVE FEEDBACK
Excellent professor. Well rounded and educated teacher with a sense for humor. Always helpful understanding if you are doing the work, if you visit him during his hours too. Although his grading seems strict, the effectiveness of his class makes it worthwhile. Must do all work for A+ the class is interesting and for college students not flunkies.
He's very kind and interesting... I took the summer term and he gave a lectures, class essays and one test. He was always helpful. Participate in class discussions and do the assignments and you will get an A. Buy the Bedford book. He's a cool teacher that likes for you to talk. So share your opinion. Wants you to do your best and be successful.
I had a great experience in this class. Prof. has a lot of great wisdom. The more you put in, the more you get out with this class. Very down to earth if you are doing the course work he is always helpful and gives good advice. I earned my A, it wasn't hard you have to work for it but he's there wants you to be the best.
awesome teacher!! super nice, and you can tell he really cares about his students success.
He will make you work for it. Attend class. Do every assignment. He is a cool guy.
I enjoyed this class! Professor Chapman creates a great environment for getting to know and working with your classmates. Yes, you will have to write a lot. If you take more than 12 credits it will be a stretch to get all the papers done but if you do the work, your future essays will be A+ material. Gives helpful, in-depth feedback!
essays due about every class or so, comes off nice but also will not hesitate to kick you out if you didnt do the essay
He believes in quantity over quality. Expect 1-2 essays due ever week
if you want to write 3 papers a week, take professor chapman. if not, you will regret being in his class. man makes you work for your grade. 5 major essays due, portfolio, and 15 journal responses. he will not hesitate to kick you out of class if you did not do the paper that was due for that class. do not recommend if you are a procrastinator. gl!
This class is filled with busy work which makes it a task to pass. Little learning involved
Easiest class I have taken. Seems like a hard class but I'm taking 15 credits. All you have to do is write essays so simple. You have problems just ask. Classes are split between discussions and writings. Tells you your grades and responds to email. Even gives study guide for the final which is a piece of cake. Chapman is a good teacher, respects.
Taking this ENC class isn't a hard class but there is a lot of essays. You're going to have around 25 essays to do. They aren't hard and I don't feel he was a tough grader but it is a lot of writing. There's only one final at the end of the semester.
Had him for enc1101 & 1102 a while back look he is not a prof. that passes u becuz u think it cool to skip and not do ur work. The bad ratings r bias and fake probably failed. I kno for fact many don't get A' because they don't go to class r don't do anything n still expect to pass avoid if you are not mature not ready for college trust me!
Overall my experience was great what makes the class great is that he has high standards if you expect low quality then you will find out you are not fit he motivates end of the day it's up to you all around good teacher says how it is compare to others it's lotta work but you didn't learn anything by doing nothing he's better in my opinion
Professor Chapman is a great guy! I must admit that he gives LOTS of homework (all of them are essays) but are super easy and its an easy A class just for doing all the work and follow the instructions. Only 1 test which is the final and you can use your notes, then a final portfolio with your 6 best essays and thats all. No late work accepted.
Pointless class to be honest. Prof Chapman focused more on assigning essays than teaching rhetorical devices which was on the final. My advice for future students would be to study the rhetorical devices, don't worry about the essays
I didn't get easy A but I don't really care about grades I got something out of the class. The prof. he's not trying to make sure you get an easy A. If that's what you want go back to elementary school. Class was not hard at all open note final write essays anyone complaining wants A for showing up if that's u don't take it work for your grade
My opinion abt. prof Chapman, likeable, reasonable, helpful. my experience was good to get an A: do your work, go to class, ask for help. is that simple final exam wasn't hard but the essays and reading is if you do that guarantee at least a 90% stick with it he doesn't drop u so it's no excuse u gotta get C r better for credit thx. Stay positive
Not a bad teacher I hate writing so you know but if it wasnt for him id be taking the class again so base of that it is a solid choice but beware you have to do some work its not a floater you gotta put in work to get a passing grade if you cna do the minimum he will help but only if ur gonna help save urself from failing
This prof teaches for real best class Ive ever took the other reviews are bad. Everyone one who doesnt like the class clearly is an idiot and doesnt work for an A. Extremely easy! Takes your essays, teaches you to edit them so you can fix and then turn in you review the notes you pass final as well. Easy A. taking him again for 1102
If you're looking for a good english teacher this is the one to take. He ishonestly the best teacher at miami dade. There are analysis to do, you have discussion on things. Classes are super easy to learn how to write just analyze cae.
This professor is great, he is very detailed and knows what he's teaching. He explains the assignments in detail. Come to class, pay attention, be respectful, do the work, you will pass. I have taken this professor twice, he is amazing. There are a few like him during the semester I wrote much better than I thought I could following the instructor
Great Professor
This Professor puts Students 1st believes in what he's doing. It's challenging but he's very helpful. I honestly say that anyone failing his class like they don't care ur not in the right mind. I learn writer tools he helps you think clearly logically and cite mla prepares you for the next level taught me how to apply knowledge to jobs and life
My class was only 6 weeks so I did have lots of homework. However, he understood my struggle with writing and graded me by my effort in all my essays. At the end of the course, there was improvement in my writing and want to have him as my professor for ENC 1102.
Professor Chapman is a good writing class professor. He has a lot of papers. 25 papers most of them 1000 words or more, but let me tell you something if you attend his class, you will definitely come out of class becoming a good writer. I was scared of writing after his class I can write super easily. You must do the papers, otherwise he drops you.
This class was the one that made me wake up everyday and get to college, every class was amazing, as long as you do what you need to do you will pass with a good grade, and professor chapman will always help you
Learned so much from this course, very interesting, great professor as well. In this class, you earn what you work for.
He cares about teaching, keeps it real, funny sometimes what more do you want?
I took the class enc 1101 it was my 3rd time taking that class professor made me work but in the end I respect him and writing more if you want to learn he is a great person he teaches from the heart will not let you give up the class taught me to strive for the best and show my best work wish I took him the 1st time
Hes a great teacher but there is plenty of work, every class there is an essay due. He pushes your limits and you see overall how you improved, to get the best grade do not procrastinate, his essays are all college standard and tough to analyze. He also allows you to email him your essay and he will tell you what needs improvement
Would not recommend anyone this class. He gives a lot of essays to write and is very demanding of participation in class.
Highly recommend if you want to read and write at college level work is not hard participation is rewarded by points added to grade prof is fair
i honestly couldve tried harder at first but the teacher is super supportive helps when you need it right now I am passing with a C but with extra credit I can get a higher grade he does push you to work harder wants to motivate class is not hard if you put in the work
He understood my hectic work schedule he was understanding that is all that matters at the end of the day to me he is better than I expected helpful when you really need support
The only issue I have is that the professor is too nice other than that he is perfect
He is ok. He makes u work hard. You dont really need the book, but might be important for a few lectures. He gives a LOT of work.
He is okay
Personally, this class was THE hardest class I have ever done! An essay or 2 every week, but I highly respect him. He is very passionate about his work and encourages students to learn. My biggest regret was that I didn't take the class seriously. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!
The prof doesn't put up with any mess that is what I like he is strict but very very fair if you aren't trying then it is not his fault you have to work for your grade! I have an A now most that don't have a good grade procrastinate blame the teacher trust me he is reasonable IF you are responsible we had extra credit and extended time too
You have to pay attention the class is a college level writing course if you want to do well take my advice. ask for help if you need it teacher's very helpful and easy to talk to. make sure you do all the assignments theyre not hard but if you procrastinate youre in for trouble. Never underestimate any college class its not high school trust me!
Professor Chapman is a very nice, caring, and respectful person. He truly cared about our grades, but he isn't the type to give easy As. He assigned a paper each class and some major essays. I think that it was a little too much for me, but it did improve my writing. I wouldn't take him again because of the workload but it can be done.
Personally, I greatly respected this professor. However, as a full-time freshmen in college and full time retail associate, I found this class very difficult to keep up with. He wants you to learn and gives material that is relevant. LOTS of essays! But you can always ask for feedback. Be ready to work & learn
LOTS OF ESSAYS LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! As a person he is a nice guy and will help if you have any questions but the work load was unnecessary for the class
By far one of the most challenging English teachers I have ever had. The workload is insane but doable, but if you procrastinate I promise you, youre not going to pass. But he is one of the best English teachers that I have ever taken. He makes ENC1102 look like childs play
Professor Chapman is nice but he leaves way too many essays. He gives vague instructions and the topic for the essays are very difficult to expand on. I had an essay for almost every class. He does not give feedback on essays or tell you your grade unless you ask. Book is required but is mainly to use at home.
This is a class that alot is required but mostly not difficult interesting assignments I liked doing the vlogs everything is online so you dont have to buy expensive books
Class is a gem professor challenges you but doesnt over do it in my opinion it starts off kind of hard but everything is not that bad the topics we talk about and write about are relevant and we even do videos I never knew about that I mostly enjoyed the teachings and class in my personal opinion listen its what you make it I will be getting an A
He's nice and all but prepare to write about 30 1000-word MLA format essays for this class. (this is not an exaggeration.) He expects you to know how to write and cite and does not teach it in class. He also does not post your grades. It made my first semester incredibly difficult, and this is just ENC1101. very unnecessary amount of work.
SOOO MANY PAPERS!!!!! way too much for an ENC1101 class in my opinion.
Don't take this professor gives way too much work. Be prepared to have to do, I kid you not 20 something 1000 word mla format essays and 1 or 2 of them per week. Kinda mean as well but not too much, he engages with the class and tries to get everyone to participate in debates. Theres alot of reading in this class, i think he requires the book.
I have no complaints about this teacher.
He makes you write 100 essays about 2000 words twice a week!
he's a nice guy but this class is a complete joke you arent going to learn anything but you will have to do so many assignments that just feel like busywork I wouldn't take this class if you actually want to learn. take this class if you are willing to write useless papers and get mediocre feedback
The class is not hard you work for your grade information is always explained if you are not ready for college it seems hard but the reality is that the class is what you make it he is very nice and understanding thats what I need in my professor what you learn is up to you thx Chapman :)
A great person and professor I learned a lot of things that high school never taught. He is an A+ teacher people need to learn to be more humble and human.
Honestly at first i didnt take the class seriously later i found out it was interesting and i regret not giving the class a chance at first its a class that focus on being a good student gives plenty of chances but if you act like you dont care or have a bad attitude you will not get a good grade form your own opinion after you are in the class
Lots of work, you'll gotta write Journal Responses, peer reviews, reflections, a research paper, and discussion boards, no tests, and a couple of easy quizzes.
At the beginning of the semester, the class was amazing. But by the final weeks, this professor started to be ruder with the assignments. Most of the students in the class, including me, lost a lot of points in just two weeks.
Almost failed his class due to an assignment he didn't specify when the due date was and is horrible at responding to emails. If you take this class, prepare to write 8 1000 word essays and an 8-10 page final like I did. He was a horrible professor to my classmates and I.
Reminds me of David Goggins a little, he's cool but dont take it for granted his class is respected and taught like a real college course slackers beware my pro tip is just get your work done nothing to complain about on this prof. If i had to take it again i would take him
I took the class it was remote virtual not a bad experience at all in my opinion it was worth it.
this prof was the best choice for me even though there was work it was all pretty much well organized and easy to follow along
dont take this class if you are a slacker or not ready to do college work
Chapman is not perfect nor are the students but what you get is a teacher thats helpful in many ways you gotta do your part you should get an A. if you expect hand holding or babysitting then this is not for you but if you put in the work stay organized you will get an A not hard to do that is my tip for you dont blame him
He's great, be ready to work and do a lot of papers, but I'm sure, once you end up in this class you won't be the same, you'll be better at writing assignments. once you get the grade of each assignment he gives you feedback, good professor :)
i had this class fall 2021. This class is fully online but beware that every class until the middle of the year is 1000 words per class. (I had 3 classes a week) In the beginning, it was stressful but I can now write 1000 words in a couple of hours. This class is very easy if you do the work. He answers and grades very very quickly. 8/10
I had Professor Chatman for my fall semester of 2021. Unless you want to write eight 1000 word essays, I would steer clear from his class. His lectures arent informative, and also a lot of the group work that he gives we dont get graded on. I would not take this class again, and I wouldnt consider taking it if youre a full-time worker.
Hes a great teacher. if you ever need extra time or want to re submit an assignment hes very understanding and lets you. if you are lazy do not even bother taking this class due to multiple assignments which can be pretty easy. i was super shy in the beginning and he actually helped me open up due to the discussions he gave.
Started off the term strong and then he disappeared from lectures for a while, he made it very difficult to access him when needed. His course work was not difficult but he always found a way to knock you off a couple points.
He is a great professor
Truly a 10/10 professor. One of the best I have ever had. At the time of this post, I'm 21 and I just submitted my final assignment today and reaping my reward of a 93 A. If you want to improve your writing, get honest and dedicated feedback, and be challenged, then this is the class for you. I 100% recommend taking his class if you have interest!
It was the first day of school, the Professor was talking sincere, but after this he assigned a 1000 word essay journal response that was due in the third day of school, once it was turned in, I had to do another one due in two days. Recommendation: DO NOT PICK THIS PROFESSOR.
He was a cool person but he gives you excessive work. If you prefer your professor to be nice over all the work then cool but I would not recommend unless you want around 2 essays every week.
He was the best!!!! You'll have to write 8 journal responses (1000 words each), 5 vlog assignments (which can be power points or videos), and 3 reflection assignments (200 words each). I took the 6-week summer term, and although it might seem like a lot to handle I promise it's not as bad as it sounds. He's very open to participation in class!
He's a great professor!! I had him for a 6-week term and he was the best. He's super understanding and reasonable. The workload is a little more on the consistent side, but all the assignments are simple and easy enough if you stay on top of your work. If you get all your assignments turned in before the last week of the course, you should be good.
this professor was nice & understandable but it was not even the 3rd day of school & we had a 1,000 paper due. In just a week I had over 3 assignments to do... the work is easy but its endless amount of homework one after the other...
Unless you want to wright 2 essays a week I would not recommend this professor at all. 1,000 word essays , non stop.
if you like doing essays and lots of assignments then i recommend this professor(1k words per essay at least). the class discussions can be political and physiological, they can consist of topics like 'what's more important to you individual rights or security' you would pick a side and discuss with your classmate why you picked your side.
He is one my favorite professors and his class isn't a lot of work if you schedule time for yourself to complete assignments. Class time is actually exciting and fun because we just have discussions about real world questions and topics and it's very engaging. If I could have him for all English classes needed I would do it. He's also very helpful
Professor Chapman is down to earth, admits when makes mistakes helps you succeed. If you have to work he understands gives you assignments every week, they're easy. He's organized loves what he teaches. If you complain bc of the assignments idk what you're doing in college the assignments are easy and relevant mostly to the real world.
What I get from this class is that it is trying to prepare you to think for yourself. if that is not you then the class will be hard but not that hard. I like to have discussions that is what I like best, I talked to the professor after class he understands students and helps students to succeed or pass the class, what is not to like about that?
DO NOT TAKE! Had to drop the class because he asked for a 3-6 page assignment 2 days after class started. I kept reading all the assignments and there was another 7-15 page paper due as well later in the course. Very chill professor and he makes you feel welcomed but is very work heavy and theres other teachers that are wayyyyy easier. Don't take
He did not show up to classes and did not send out any messages or notifications stating that there is no in-person class. He gives out numerous essays but the only way to have access to him is online. This was a hybrid class and along with not doing in-person classes, there were never zoom classes. It's a figure-it-out-yourself class
Professor Chapman was my first English professor, I will be honest and say that some of his essays had me questioning life, he did set me up to think for myself and actually do research so I could formulate my own opinions and ideas. I took him for a 6 week term summer of 22 and it was stressful but he's a good professor and gives amazing feedback.
