Teaches very well, and is absolutely full of knowledge about cell bio. His tests are very challenging. He will become involved in you participation which is fun. Overall a very enjoyable and challenging class.

Bio's not my subject at all...but this is the first time in my life that I actually understood it. Although he cant hear very well all the time, he's a GREAT teacher and totally knows his stuff. He makes you work hard but it pays of (good grade and the knowledge).

The little 2 point quizzes help your grade a lot so be in class and at least make an effort to read! They're really easy if you've read. He doesn't try to trick you and tries to explain things in the most clear and fun way possible. He's really funny and cares about what he does.

The first impression was that he was going to be a difficult professor. He creates a well outlined course that clearly tells the student what is required. His focus is for the student to be independent and apply learned concepts. He is helpful when asked for help.

Class time is mostly spent on lab procedures which are all hands on which i prefer over lectures. Br Christenson is an awesome teacher to have. Too bad i didn't have him for Bio 180.

Bro. Christenson focuses on student learning and expects you to do your part. He can get side-tracked sometimes, especially if a student leads him into it, but you will learn everything you need to in a fun class environment.

Bro. Christenson seemed to still be trying to work out some major bugs with this class. On the bright side, he was very open to suggestions on how to improve the class. Hopefully it will run more smoothly in the future. Bro. C expects a lot of work out of his students.

Lots of lab work. I'm not the smartest student and was intimidated by this class, but I'm glad I took it. This class built my confidence in the lab. Do the reading you'll do fine on the quizzes. There are videos to show you how the labs are done and that helps a lot. There is an Independent Research Project that you'll need to keep an eye on.

I took the MWF class schedule and really liked the class. The class requires a bit of independent thought, but Bro. C really helped us think about why we would do certain procedures. He was a bit quiet some days, so try to get a seat close to the podium. Its a really chill/fun class as you get to know everyone.

I thought that the MWF schedule worked out great for me. It may seem like a lot of time in lab but I feel that it gave me a appropriate amount of time to finish each lab and actually understand what I had just done. There is a scientific report due for each lab, so a lot of writing but my writing skills improved over the course.

This is a very challenging course!!! Make sure to ask him about the level of detail he expects on the write on portion of the exams before you take them. This isn't a class where you can cram the day before and pass the test. Study consistently or you not do as well as you like.

You really need to understand the material to do well. It wont be enough to just brush over it. Bro. Christenson is always looking for ways to improve the learning that is taking place, which is great, but also means that you should be open to the teaching and testing style/approach might change slightly throughout the semester.

He works hard to help you do well and is good at providing a way for you to do well.

He's a great teacher, and tries really hard to make the material accessible, but this material can be plain hard to learn. Cartoon out ALL of the mechanisms- they make a lot more sense as pictures, and make up silly names for some of the molecules you have to memorize, like GrB2. Lots of memorization, but still a really fun class.

Preparation is key to doing well in this class. As long as you prepare before class and do the pondering questions for every study guide, you will do fine. It is a challenging class, but very interesting.

Reading the book is important and very helpful. Coming prepared for class each day helps you remember and understand the material. Tests are part multiple choice and part write-on. Quizzes are given each day, so don't miss. He tells you exactly what he wants, so listen. Write down the mechanisms, he is heavy on those on exams.

I think many people focus so much on how to get an A, but if you focus on understanding and enjoying the cell mechanisms, you wont have to worry about the grade. Do the all the pre and post readings and review to study guide questions until you can explain them well enough to someone who isn’t studying the cell. Enjoy the adventure.

Bro. Christenson is a great teacher. To study for this class I found it useless to read the book word for word. I recommend using his outlines to study from and then reading the sections that covers those topics that you are confused about. He also really encourages you to think when answering questions. He doesn't want just the vanilla answers.

To pass this class you need to do the pre-class readings and questions. Do the post-class readings and questions early, don't wait until the day of the test it will kill you. Also, focus on the mechanisms you learn in class.

The best way to succeed in this class is to focus on the study guide questions to guide your reading and attending class for the quizzes and clarification on the material.

Print out every class lecture notes, and bring them to class. Then taking class notes on the print out helps out with reviewing for class and exams. Also have a separate notebook for this class. Run through the mechanisms until you understand them; and can go through them from memory.

This is a difficult class, but you can succeed if you take the time. Print off and study the study guides provided. Focus on the mechanisms he teaches for each section. The ponder questions found on the study guides are particularly helpful in preparation for exams.

To do well in this class you need to: 1. do all of the homework before class. 2. Frequently review the mechanisms you draw in class. This was one of my favorite classes of my undergraduate. Brother C is one of the best professors on campus. He expects a lot from you, but if you really want to learn, he is just who you would want instructing you.

Brother Christenson will take time to go back and explain concepts if people ask about it and make sure people understand it. The best way to understand this class is to do all of the reading, be there for all of the quizzes and take the study guides to class and make notes on them. And make sure you know the mechanisms he puts on the board.

I have taken many classes from Brother Christenson in the past. My experience in his classes has been great. He is very helpful, understanding, and approachable. Brother christenson uses study guides that are very easy to understand, and most of his test questions pull right from the study guides. To the ponder questions before the test.

Brother Christenson was the first Bio teacher that really inspired me to want to learn Biology. He is a really funny teacher and keeps the lectures entertaining so that you don't fall asleep. He explains everything really clearly and is easy to understand. The tests are hard and you have to really work for a good grade, as in most Bio classes.

Brother Christenson is great, but you have to work! This isn't a class you can just breeze through, it takes a lot of time and commitment. He genuinely wants you to understand what exactly is going on and connect it to other parts of biology. He's totally willing to help though. He does a ton of reviews and test help.

You need to prepare and study really hard to do well in this class. You need to come to class to do the daily quizzes. He gets really upset when students are dishonest about that.

I loved taking Christenson's class. He is passionate about teaching, and he has great enthusiasm for biology. I took the class my first semester and I thought it was a manageable work load, he communicates pretty well with his students and I felt the lectures prepared me for the tests. Bro. Christenson's classes can be hard, yes. You need to know your stuff for the tests and sometimes be able to make an extra connection here or there, but that isn't unexpected. He doesn't hand your grade to you, you have to work, but in my opinion, if you do the work, read, and study, the classes are easy. I guess some freshman can't read yet?

Wonderful teacher who care's a lot, does test reviews on his own time for you for every test. He is clear, concise and his students average the highest grades of BIO 180 classes for a reason. His lectures are intriguing and he is a fair grader. The test are usually curved several points.

This class was tough, but I really enjoyed it. Brother Christensen is by far the best Bio teacher and if you have to take this class take it from him! Study hard, study smart. I got a 94% in this class, but it was all blood and sweat! Bro. Christenson was very helpful, and listens to your feedback on the test. Large curves, but if you think you got the right answer, you have to fight for it and give a good argument! This class made me love biology.

You don't need a book because he has videos online for every lesson, but the book can be helpful. PREPARATION IS A MUST! Spend around a hour or hour and a half before each lecture going over material. Good thing is, if you prepare, class isn't crazy challenging. Prepare before every lecture, study for 3-4 hours before test, you'll do good.

He's great! If you can take his BIO180 class, do it. He gives his students all the resources they need to earn an "A." The quizzes before each lecture are tough if you don't read the lecture outline or watch the prep videos before class. Take good notes and utilize his practice tests! They show you exactly what you need to review for the test.

He is very good at helping the student learn. He asks a lot of you, but will always provide multiple ways to get there that requires effort. By far one of my favorites, if not my favorite teacher. For those taking him, know the ponder questions he gives before each class, and you will be good in lectures and tests.

To get an A+: 1) watch the daily videos, 2) do the study guides in preparation for EVERY class period, & 3) UNDERSTAND what you've just studied. Teach yourself. Christensen always offers help and is well versed in his field of study. Definitely take BIO 180 from Christenson! Lecture style class. Easy 5 question quiz everyday, but do the prep.

Brother Christenson is the best professor you can take for Bio180. Something that helped me in his class was to watch the videos and especially go into his office to ask questions. If you continually study daily instead of cram studying, it helps as well!

Best science professor and science class ever. He is fun-loving, inspirational, and genuine. He does his best to help students succeed. You usually get a five-question quiz before every class, but he gives you material in iLearn that helps you to do well on that. Lectures are pretty straight forward and they go over the material you have in iLearn.

In order to pass this class, one has to study all the time so you can do well in the quizzes and exams. Attend labs too and do well on the homework. I recommend that you take the class from him.

Brother Christenson is definitely the Best Bio teacher I have ever had. He really cares about his students, and wants you to succeed, coming in as a freshman I was intimidated by the course, but he is such an amazing teacher that there was no excuse for me not to succeed! He is absolutely hilarious, and has great lectures! TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!

Way too many tests at the end of the semester! I felt he was caring and considerate when I would go talk to him. The thing I didn't like about the class is that I felt that the lectures DID NOT HELP! He doesn't follow the study guide. I felt what was taught in class didn't really help me on the tests. Could have just done the study guide and videos

There are video tutorials he made you can watch. There are study guides for each lecture.99% of what you need to know is on the study guide outline. Sometimes he goes over other things in lecture, and the pop quizes are at the beginning of class, so come prepared.

Brother Christenson is a great professor. While things go at a fast pace, it's simply the nature of the class. He explains things clearly and he's available outside of class. His video tutorials (when available) are a must watch. They help prepare you for the pre-class quizzes and make understanding everything much easier in class.

He is a fantastic instructor and really cares about his students. If you watch the videos, and take good notes in class you'll do alright. To really excel I would recommend you use the textbook along side the lecture outlines! all in all he is an outstanding professor!!

Amazing at lectures! Great at explaining everything that is going on in the material. Does a test review before every test, which helps a ton. Definitely need to study to do well in the class, but he focuses on the hardest parts to understand and uses examples and demonstration to explain very clearly. Great teacher.

Biology is tough in general. He taught exceptionally and explained all concepts clearly. Make sure you watch the videos, they will help you most.

Dr. Christenson is one of the best professors at BYU, I. He makes time for you and wants you to succeed. Make sure to go to class and watch the videos. If you miss class you miss out on the daily quizzes. He is great at explaining the hardest concepts and has office hours and study sessions before the tests.

Biology is a tough class, but Brother Christenson has made it more manageable. He goes super in depth with topics, which helps me understand for the test. He has daily quizzes at the beginning of class, so make sure you are there and have studied. He has reviews, study sessions, etc. He wants you to pass and has given a lot to make it possible.

I absolutely LOVED Bro. Christenson - he expects you to watch lecture tutorials outside of class, but they are worth the time and very helpful. Bro Christenson is a great professor. He really knows biology and teaches it well. There are study guides and prep videos that he encourages you to look at before each lecture and they should help you do well. I personally struggled in this class cause there's a lot of memorization and bio is difficult, but if you take it, take it from Christenson!

Brother Christenson is amazing. He is very good at helping you make connections, which fosters a real sense of learning. The course is rigorous and there is a lot to cover in a short 14 weeks. But the number of outside resources he provides in forms of office hours and TA's will help you manage it more fully. I would always take a class from him!

Bro. Christenson is amazing. The class is hard, especially if you haven't taken any chem classes before, but he really does care that you do well both spiritually and academically. Brother Christendom is an amazing teacher, but this is a hard class. Do not expect to pass without studying. Watch the videos for the lecture! I cant emphasize this enough. Just reading the textbook or study guide wasnt enough to really understand the information. Brother C. Is super understanding so go in and see him.

He is super smart & knows his stuff! If you prepare for lecture with the reading/videos and come to class with questions, you will do well. The worksheets are tedious but helpful. A majority of the grades come from in-class quizzes over the reading and exams. ( Most of the exams are curved.) You'll do well if you put in the work.

There is a quiz each day in class based on the prep assigned the day before. He always has videos you can watch so you don't have to read the text book. There is also optional homework for further mastery. He is very clear with his expectations and has multiple opportunities for you to see him or his TAs. Would definitely take again.

Bro. Christenson is a great professor - he's funny and cares for his students. I have taken pre-uni biology before so this class was pretty easy for me. The average was usually 73 and for harder exams it was in the 60s. This class is known to be a hard class so don't think that my difficulty rating is the same for everyone. To me this class is easy

Brother Christenson is amazing! The way that he teaches is super easy to understand and he makes sure you know the material. This was my first semester, and I had some major anxiety problems, but we sat down in his office and talked it out. He cares about his students, and he has the desire to be the best professor that he can be. I appreciate him.

All of the info he gave in class was useful but if you miss class it's not a big deal. The assignments are easy and you can turn them in late. But he's a really good teacher, really cares about your success in college, and getting into grad programs!

He's amazing and cares about his students. When you are taking his class make sure you don't take another class right after his class at least 1h and 30mnts after his class for office hours where you can teach other students in there and ask him more questions if you have any. You will score higher in the exams.

He gives you several options to help with studying outside of class, so just know you will spend a lot of time prepping for class and tests.
