Even though he si interesting, when he lectures I fall to sleep.
funny and entertaining, but too technical
Great teacher! Really helpful outside of class and really interesting lectures. Advice: come to class, take the quizzes, Ace the class. :)
Like everyone says, quizzes are most importatn! Go to lecture to do well on quizzes! Don't miss any quizzes! Great teacher, very interesting class.

The best professor I've had. He makes the class fun and the material isn't hard. Make sure you attend class because he gives out pop quizzes and that's where a chunk of your grade comes from. Very fun guy and makes a friendly enviornment in the classroom.
Easy class. The teacher is funny. Come to class for the pop quizzes...based on lecture mostly! Final is pretty easy too.
Ask lots of questions in class. Engage. Speak up. Good professor. Good looking.
Funny and entertaining
He is hilarious and makes learning cognitive and experimental psychology fun! I would advise you to come to his lectures because he gives pop quizzes. Most of the questions on these tests are from his lectures.
He is an active and engaging professor. His anecdotes will help you in remembering concepts within cognitive psychology. (E.g. KFC and temporal contiguity)Be sure to attend lecture. 60% of your grade is based on the quizzes. So don't miss lectures!
If you have to take this course, take it with Clark. He makes cognitive psychology really interesting. However, do show up for lecture, he gives out pop quizzes. These quizzes are worth 60% of your grade. Also, turn off your cell phone, it's his pet peeve!
He's a very entertaining professor and will make you appreciate psychology even more. The class is based on unannounced quizzes and quiz materials come from mostly lectures.
he was one of the BEST professors i ever had! i took this class twice (the first time with rosenblum) and let me tell you, clark is the better choice. even w/o the quizzes, his lectures will keep you coming cuz they're very entertaining and fun.
quizzes are multiple choice and super easy..class was fun & interesting, more importantly not boring...great class to take if you need psych
He based almost the entire course class grade based on pop quizzes. He picked on students and wasnt friendly. Hes very arrogant.
He was really cool. Some people had problems with his quizzes but I thought they were all really easy as long as you go to class. Just do what you're supposed to do and you'll be able to pass.
HE ROCKED MY WORLD!!! He was soo cool. He made everything so easy to understand, especially since it was a class that would've been otherwise boring and difficult. If you have the luck to take psychology with him, TAKE IT!

I love this guy. the quarter i took him we didnt have a midterm but we had a huge curve.
His lectures are interesting that is why I didn't miss a single lecture. Definitely take psychology and law class with him he rocks! If you show up and pay attention to the lectures you will get an good grade.
What a professor!! He makes psychology fun and easy to understand. I still remember many of the examples he used to explain various concepts, and I took this class 2 years ago! I would, and do, highly recommend Professor Clark for Psych 1.
I don't understand most of these misleading comments that are posted for this irritating professor. Takes POP attendance and counts that towards your grade (miss 5 and it's an automotaic fail), required reading is hardly ever useful, and makes introductory psychology a burden to bear.
This class is NOT a social psych class..it cognitive..deals with neurons, stimulus, etc..biological stuff--i dont know what everyone else was smoking but this class is not fun at all, there is a lot of reading, tests are confusing, and you really have to know the material to even get a B grade.
he's such a funny teacher. He relates the subject to things that we are so used to talking about...it makes that much more easier to understand the concepts. He always comes to class with funny comments...and one more thing...He looks like James Spader...yah!~ he's an awesome teacher.
The class is okay but he takes attendance. So make sure you go! If you miss 5 classes, you receive an automatic F. but you dont know when hes gonna take attendance or not. tests are okay.
Takes attendance in 600 person class... not really prepared... midterms are all scantron so they aren't too hard
tests are confusing, class is boring, lots of reading, and lectures are confusing also..he expects you to know everything and tries to trick you on the tests.
Clark managed to take a somewhat interesting class and make it boring... I sat next to the wall each day so I could sleep. He counts attendance randomly, laughs at his own incessant jokes. Tests were decent if the reading was done, although he likes tricky wording.
I took this class in Fall 2003 and loved it. THere were unannounced quizzes and no midterm but they were way easy. I'm guessing he's changed a lot, but he used to rock hardcore.
annoying and arrogant. not understanding at all, seems like the type of prof. who does not want to see his students do well
He make the material less boring than it is. Tests are very easy. Multiple choice with only a or b as an options. Go to class and disc to earn your A.
Boring teacher. I read the other ratings from previous students and thought he was going to be a cool teacher...but no. tests are okay, HAVE to know your material...takes attendance. class sucked
Professor Clark is #1!!!
eh, his class was ok. The material from 2nd midterm was pretty boring to listen in class, so read the book. Takes attendance ramdomly. Try to get BRYNN NODARSE as your TA. She goes out of her way to make you understand the material and even wrote her own notes fr. lecture to share with her students!
His class will strike you as a pretty easy class at first, then you see your first midterm and realize that it isn't. Dr. Clark makes the class seem a little too simple, he can test a little harder than one would think from him. Good prof, but weird that he takes attendance in a 500+ lecture hall.
took attendence randomly during almost every lecture in UNLH. 3 or more absences = F.
i took this class in fall of 2003--- but it was an awesome class---he didnt take attendance then--- he gave surprise quizes. the only way u could have done poorely (or not of understood the material) is if you didnt go to class--- then it wasnt the prfs fault but your own!
For Fall 2004. No more pop quizzes but takes attendance so just show up to class even if just to sleep through it. I basically crammed weekends for tests. Midterms-okay. Final-very easy(mostly same questions from midterms). Material was boring but he spoke very clearly and with positive character B-
He's pretty awesome. only wants people to know the major concepts.. doesnt care about specifics. he tends to go off on tangents and take a long time to answer a simple question, and sometimes he doesnt really understand what ur saying.. but overall he's good
GREAT PROF.!! He has mandatory attendence for lecture but lecture was funny and interesting. Hes generous with grades, and tells you want to study. final made up of previous midterm questions as well. going to lecture alone is for sure to pass the class. i highly recommend.he took away pop quizzes
No book was required for this class which meant a lot of handouts to read. Only two essays were assigned and they were farely easy. This teacher tends to go over the whole reading so if you read, the class might be a waste of time for you. This class is not hard at all.
very funny and interesting. one of the few classes that I'm actually awake during the lectures.

Great teacher, and despite the length of his classes, he kept everyone attentive (he's pretty funny too). This guy's awesome, and apparently his TA's are pretty good too.

fun professor, made intro interesting :)
interesting
This guy shouldnt be allowed to teach anywhere. Teaching style is horrible and he just makes up stuff as he goes along. And his jokes are even worse. Didnt even have a book for crying outloud. He should be fired but that wont happen so take the class just to get the A...
I liked him at first but then... we did not have a book, notes where unclear, test were tricky, made us buy a "clicker" instead of a book to "save us money." would have rather bought a book. He tested us on stuff we talked about for 2 seconds. In my opinion a HORRIBLE professor...Maybe he was just had a REALLY BAD QUARTER.
Tests are huge for this class, lectures are "mandatory" (he threw out the mandatory part at the end of class). Final is made up of previous questions and some new ones, no book forces you to pay attention in class and questions are very deceptive.
Dr. Clark ROCKS! He is funny, interesting, clear, and thorough. Was bored by the material, but kept interested by Clark. The tests were mostly clear and reasonable, w/unclear questions tossed after the fact to keep things fair. No book to buy saves money, but means no 2nd reference on concepts. Great class for serious students who will study/work.

Clark's class is all about his lectures. since we werent required to buy a book for his class, attending class was crucial. you either really like the way he teaches or you hate it. he talks quickly but explains things in a way you can remember them. overall, i really liked his teachings. to get a good grade, make sure youre in his class everyday!
I would not recommend students to take his class, because he presents lecture in unorganized manner, very unclear, and class is based on lecture because we had no textbooks which made me feel totally lost. He also does not respond to your emails which means he does not care about students concerns. Again, Do not take his class, avoid takin him.
horrible. not clear. i had no idea what i was learning or why. it was just memorization of important stuff that happened. don't take this class if you don't like biology, there's a lot talk of neurons and neurotransmitters and ganglion and sort like that.
This class is extremely easy. Seriously, attend class, write down what he says to, and memorize it. You will get an A or B. I studied the day before tests for an hour or two, and got a B+. He makes you volunteer for Psych epxeriments, but I did all of mine online. Whomever says his class is difficult must never have attended class.
Clark is disorganized in notes, ambiguous with expalnations, and does not make psychology interesting. He TRIES his best to be funny, but there is nothing funny when you're studying for a midterm and none of his stupid notes make sense! There is no need to read from the book, just show up to class. Beware he throws in pop quizzes! Don't get him.
He is not very clear in his material and tends to ramble on as if he were talking to himself. Notes are not organized and chapters are all over the place. He also teaches you something and half way through the lecture tells you its WRONG! He gives quizzes in the lectures as an incentive to attend.
his class was easy!!dont copy notes on slides just remember what he says...the wording he uses in class is wats on the midterms and final...dont have to read a lot..
By far one of the most ambiguous professors I've ever met! Lectures are disorganized & slides are almost pointless. Tries to be funny but nothing is really funny when you find yourself confused and unprepared for midterms. Information from the text book is rarely used! Your TA's will be your only help/guide to passing. Bottomline: Do not get him!
his class isn't that hard if you just remember what he says and copy down the slides because thats basically what will be on the midterms. he does give pop quizes which aren't that fun.
His lectures were pretty boring and the slides were not helpful, he has annoying in class quizzes that can kill your grade despite passing all of the midterms and finals. He'll talk about how things that aren't on the midterms. Avoid, it's not worth it.
He had a stupid mandatory attendance policy where you had to sign in and then wastes your time with a boring lecture filled with lame jokes and stories. However its an easy A class. If you are smart, dont buy the textbook, just study off of notes. The final had many questions from the midterm.
He was a horrible teacher! I'm taking upper division right now and of all the psych classes I have ever taken hi was absolutely the worst! If you can get Ryan Godfrey as your TA he is the BEST!
ATTEND CLASS!!! He gives surprise Pop Quizess when he sees that many people are absent. His slides are not helpful as he always post them late or not at all. If they he does, they don't provide much info.. best strategy is to simply attend class & take your own notes. I didn't read the book and my grade suffered. So complete the readings.
Not a hard class at all; all you have to do is go to class, take notes, and study them. they'll prepare u for the surpsrise quizzes, which will give u a hint of what'll be on the exams. he's not mean at all. He could have better organized lectures, but just take good notes.
His class is kind of easy, he makes good examples for u to remember your material. ( in the test he will use that example as questions) !!!
You HAVE to go to class! There is no book for psych and law, but he tests on everything in lecture. Take great notes and you will have no problem!
Take someone else. slides are not helpful he confuses you more than you already were. he pretty much wings the lectures always late. This class should not have been so confusing
No textbook. YOU MUST GO TO ALL LECTURES. If you go to all lectures, do the readings you will not have a problem with this class. Oh, and he is usually late to class.
Hmm..I dunno why he has hot rate. You have to go to class every time. Why? Because there were several (I would say 5-8) pop quizzes. I had him TR class, and I always fell asleep. Bring something entertaining stuff and just copy down the notes. You really do not have to listen to him. Midterms/Final are okay..as long as you study hard.
his tests are too hard!
One of the best Psych. professors at UCR. Attendance is a must, however- he's given surprise quizes or taken attendance in every class I've had him for. He may come off as a bit arrogant, but he's funny and tries hard to make things as clear as possible. Has a definite bias toward the female students...
BEST teacher ever, I would recomned him several times. he makes it easy to undertand, the class uis very entertaining, he cracsk jokes. must show up to lecture inorder to pass. best psych teacher!!
Clark is an awesome psychology teacher. He works hard to explain the material in a way ANYONE could understand. Attendance is a must because there are pop quizzes, but they are easy. His lectures are informative, engaging, and sometimes entertaining. I would definitely take him again.
weird humor.pop quizes, usually friday, random ones too.quizes add up,go to class. 2 midterms, 1 final. read the textbook for clarity.don't go off of his slides they dont make sense unless you are in class to have him explain it.tricky questions on midterms, some questions on midterms and pop quizes are from random stories he tells. ok professor
awesome teacher..very funny.
His lecture does not correlate with his slides very well so when I take notes Im not really clear on what to define and write down when he explains it. He CAN be somewhat entertaining sometimes. He gives pop quizzes when students are least likely to come to class (Fridays, last day before break, etc.). He's an okay professor, not too bad.
write down everything he says and use that to study then you will get an A also it is important to understand what he is trying to tell u
Professor is a bit pompous. He is self absorbed. And rude. Doesn't answer email.
He was an awesome professor.
Great Techer. He make the class entertaining and funny. He uses real life experiences to explain the terms. to get a good grade in that class you must attend class. His powerpoint slides are useless if you don't attend class (he gives pop quizzes). his tests are straight from his lectures and book. he gives a study guide and that helps.

Dr. Clark is very entertaining and good looking. You must must must go to lecture to do well on the exams. Almost EVERYTHING is from lecture since there is no book for this class. There are some articles and journals that are important. The two, two-paged papers are a cinch, and there are pop quizzes once a week.
professor is extremely smart and very helpful.we didnt use text book or winter 09 and that was an avantage. Just pay attention to his lectures, which are fun and interesting, and go over the slides befor midterms. Do the study guides since his miterms are based on it.You will like this class a bunch.
Psych 1 isn't a very exciting class, but Clark tried to make it interesting. I still found myself falling asleep in almost every lecture. We didn't use a book, so tests relied heavily on what he says in class. PP slides are useless. The two midterms are hard if you don't prepare, but the final borrows many questions from it.
Funny man but he can't teach. He does try to make class fun and keep people entertained but no book plus his useless PP slides made this class tougher than it really should've been. Not difficult though, just requires a lot of focus in class.
Not the most exciting class, but I appreciated that he tried to explain everything clearly and humorously, though a bit disorganized. MUST go to lecture for pop quizzes. Online slides don't help much. Not a hard class - just pay attention and take good notes (no textbook). If I had this class with another professor, I probably would've disliked it.
He was a nice guy, but his class sucked. He made too many jokes, which werent always funny, and they always made what he was saying even more confusing.. There was no text book and his study guides were between 10 to 15 questions, while his tests were a min.of 50. so whatever wasnt on the study guide, you either had to google or look at his notes.
Clark is a great professor! Psych 001, isn't the funnest class, but he truly makes it enjoyable. He is a true lecturer, which means you have to attend lecture and take really good notes. He uses his PP slides majorly as a reminder for himself, so they are not great study tools. Just go to lecture and stay awake! Overall, he really knows his stuff!
Not really the best professor or subject. doesn't know how to teach. and nothing to study from because there's no textbook
This class is not easy. You have to attend class every day because there is no textbook and the tests are based on his lectures and powerpoint slides which aren't always clear. There are 2 midterms each 25% and the final which is 50% and that is ridiculous.
The material was understandable but tests can be a a little tricky on the questions. He always had slides for each lecture, but they would sometimes require attendance in lecture for you to understand what they're about. Didnt quite like how there was no text book to study off of for solid answers. Funny guy, not exactly a hard class.
LONG STORY SHORT -no text book -must go to class - the entire grade is on tests only- good teacher but vague slides have to listen to words - trys to make it fun but you can not leave out any details or any stories.
He is very clear, interesting and has jokes every once in awhile. The material can be confusing and there's a lot to understand. Attending class is pretty important if you want to pass or study really hard for it. And there's usually one or two free questions on the midterms. Best of all, no textbook neccessary!
Dr. Clark's psychology class 001 was very interesting. He does not have a textbook, and posts all of his lecture slides. Very funny and cares about the well being of his studnets, academically. The only con with this class is his grading scale. Two midterms each 25% of grade, and one final 50% of grade. Very interesting class!
I read he gave pop quizzes to make attendance mandatory. The 1st day, he spoke to us like freshmen, but eliminated the quiz policy.I never went to a class. Some test question answers were phrased INCORECTLY and some incorrect answers were technically correct. However, he was EXTREMELY helpful outside of class in related issues.
HE'S AMAZING :) funny! easy tests! no pop quizzes. take him!
HE IS SO INTERESTING! I LOVED THIS CLASS BUT I ALREADY LOVED PSYCH. I BARELY STUDIED AND GOT AN A. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!
Great professor! He makes class funny, exciting, and easy to learn. No book. Lectures online. 2 midterms, 1 final.
Excellent lecturer! No textbook. Makes material interesting and relevant. He's genuinely funny. Sometimes a bit disorganized and late to every class. No homework or reading! 2 Midterms, 1 Final. I got a B, though. :(
by far the best class at UCR! he makes it so interesting and even non-psych majors will enjoy it. not an easy class, but i got an A without doing all the readings. also, no textbook needed.
Dr. Clark is truly a wonderful professor. He knows his material and he makes it so interesting. He has so much spirit and energy. I got an A, and i took the class as a freshman. You must attend lecture. He hate it when people leave in the middle of the lecture and before he's done.
I'm surprised to see people actually found him helpful. I mean, really? I guess he just wasn't my type of professor. He lecture's really slow - always has these plain useless slides - sometimes inserting a picture or two for humor & makes examples off of things like coors beer & hot chicks. He wasn't all that informative, and I always went to class
Professor Clark may be a smart guy, but his teaching style didn't help me at all. He tends to use all of his lecture time giving examples and telling stories to emphasize material without introducing the material to us first. His lecture slides were confusing. His 2 midterms and final were so tricky and confusing that they didn't make any sense.
Great guy but not that great of a teacher. I didn't think his slides and tests where on the same page. Required a textbook this past quarter. I had a C but got an A on the final, which was a miracle, which bumped my grade to a B.
Excellent professor! Attendance is mandatory if you want to do well. There is no text book which saves a lot of money. I went to every lecture, put some time into the 2 very short essays, studied and received an A. Overall great professor and class!
I don't know how people do bad in this class? I thought this was one of the easier classes. Pay attention, read the book to supplement his lectures and study for the test. what's so hard about that? A's are earned not given.
he was a very nice and funny guy always came to lecture with a great attitude. was a little unorganized with lectures and slides but that made for him to be spontaneous. must read the book and go to class to get an A because his slides are minimal and he mostly supplements his slides verbally. Great professor!
Dr. Clark is the BEST. Read first, then his lectures make sense. No A's are given...they are earned. He's not going to hold your hand. He makes the lectures interesting, and on the first day played Alice Cooper music. Come on, that's awesome.
Excellent professor! This class is theory base for we learn a lot of psychology related theories and experimentation. Don't buy the book for his lectures are gold!!! Take good notes and you will do well in class.
Attendance & taking good notes during lecture are pretty much mandatory if you want a good grade. A lot of the midterm questions are lecture-based and his final was 85% reused questions from the midterms. If you miss class, you won't have any idea what his slides mean because they're mostly just graphs/data. Hw every 1 or 2weeks, but it's easy.
This guy is a joke. His lectures aren't very helpful and you'd be best reading the textbook. The ONE thing that made me HATE this guy was that he gave me a C instead of a B by inputting the grades incorrectly and after 4 e-mails to both him AND my TA, I get no response. He says he's willing to help, but to no avail. Terrible man.
BEWARE! Dr. Clark is VERY easy on psych 001 students, but do not be misled. he becomes exceptionally difficult in any of his upper division classes- particularly Law. Nice guy, but I watch 3/4ths of my law class drop after the midterm.
There is no book for this course, which is dumb given the amount of stuff that is on his "study guide", and given the lack of quality of his lecture slides. That's essentially all you have to study from is the lecture slides. I've never had such a hard time in a class. I had him for Psych1 last quarter, and passed with a B because I read the book.
go to class and pay attention otherwise you're on your own there is no book the slides are only somewhat useful if you don't have notes the class is super interesting but his grading scales are ridiculous and you do not get prepared for the midterm very well
He definitely gives an entertaining lecture for his class, but don't be fooled. Although he is nice, there is a huge disconnect from the amount of material that is covered in lecture and his expectations. He has very tricky tests with strange wording, and the most vague study guides i have ever been presented with
I thought this was a great class and Prof. Clark was a great teacher! His lectures keep your attention but if you skip class and only read the slides, you'll be lost. The material is SO easy and tests are perfectly fair. I'd highly recommend this class. :)
Great professor, explains material very clearly. Going to discussion section is not mandatory, i only showed up for review days before an exam. DONT BUY THE TEXT BOOK. All material on exams are 98% from lecture. Show up to lecture, record lecture, download PowerPoints, and write good notes. Pretty easy class if you do everything I've mentioned.
Very easy class.! Pay attention to his funny jokes they are important in the tests! Really easy exams! TAKE THE CLASS!
A great professor! Enjoyed this course, very much.
GREAT PROFESSOR! He is entertaining and informative, and most of his exam material comes from his lectures. STILL DO THE READING. Instead of a textbook, he posts articles online that you MUST READ in order to pass the class. They're not too long, but there's a lot of them. Overall, I really enjoyed the class.
Midterms are harder than they should be. Don't bother studying lecture slides a alone, just take notes and pay attention to what he says. He's a "theory" dude and makes intro to psych way more diff than it should be. Final seemed like a breeze compared to midterms. He reuses questions from midterms. DONT RECOMMEND.
Dr. Clark is very clear&to the point! Your grade is 25% midterm1, 25% midterm2 and 50% final grade. Save money on a textbook and borrow it. I did terrible on the midterms and saved my grade by getting a B on the final. His final is midterm 1&2 recycled plus maybe 10-15 new questions. Listen to his weird stories, they are answers to test questions!
You don't really need a textbook for this class. His midterms and the final exam cover mostly from his lectures, so pay attention to them! I would recommend you to record his lectures. It helped me ALOT to pass the course. Midterm 1 & 2 are 25% of your grade, while the final exam is 50%. NO HOMEWORK! He also posts up lecture slides on Ilearn.
The class was easy. The tests are HIGHLY based on his lectures. I recommend that you always attend lecture because if you just try to look at his slides, you won't understand anything. Take good notes in class and pay attention to his examples and stories they'll help you on exam questions. The exams and final are not really based on the text.
25% Midterm 1, 25% midterm 2, 50% final. Went to discussion section only 4 times. You MUST go to lecture! His tests are straight out of his lectures! Take good notes during lecture and review all slides before the exam! Don't need the book. He's super cool, funny and approachable. He is easy going and his lectures are very entertaining :D
Don't take this class lightly. His lectures may seem interesting and easy to grasp but don't be fooled. His exams have questions that are tricky and there is no opportunity for redemption if you score poorly on an exam. Pay close attention to lectures. I don't recommend this class to anyone that isn't going to put a 110%. I will not take him again
I went to almost every lecture and took detailed notes and did all the readings. Regardless, his exams were worded incredibly strangely and many questions seemed like they could have 2 plausible different answers, which led to a poor grade. I liked the class but I won't be taking him again because of his testing (which is 60% of your total grade!)
I enjoyed him as my teacher, but I hate his tests. The questions are tricky and hard. I studied for days and got a C.
Very great professor, loves what he do, he is very helpful and his tests are cake. if you just go to his lectures you can pass with atleast B and if you study a little its easy A you would ever get.
You will not pass if you don't show up to lecture. The majority of exam questions come from lecture. Take notes on his stories, this is imperative!!! His slides are chaotic and will not help you unless you know what they're referring to. To me the exams also seemed like common sense. There is reading but all of it is posted on ilearn. No textbooks.
I wish I listened to the previous reviews when I registered for this class. Although I enjoyed attending his lectures, his tests were my ultimate downfall. The average for the class was a D & he refused to curve it! The questions were ambiguous, tricky, & confusing! The content is easy to grasp & interesting, but the tests are just poorly written.
I enjoyed Dr. Clark's lecture very much! There's no book but he does post A LOT of articles! Attendance, while not mandatory, is definitely suggested! His slides are typically out of order and usually not complete - you should go to lecture! However, his midterm was a little confusing and had a low average (D!). I did really well. :)
It's not an easy class. I respect he didn't curve the class, that means YOU EARN YOUR GRADE. No textbook. If u want to be lazy, don't take his class. If you're ready for an interesting course with a professor that genuinely cares about his students, then take him. Midterm was tough. Final was a sweet redemption. A lil unorganized. Attend lectures
I loved Dr. Clark. He made me want to become a Law major with how interesting he made the subject. I did not want to take this class, but I miss it so much, now. He's hilarious! Beware of his easy-going nature, however. His wording on exams is confusing, and they are not as straightforward and easy as his lectures appear. Take notes on EVERYTHING.
I love Prof. Clark, best professor ever! he makes lecture really interesting and is HILARIOUS! but you have to work for that A! your grade is solely based on midterm, 2 papers, and final (50%) so make sure you're on top of everything and don't procrastinate! no textbook, all readings posted online, read them!!
Make sure you go to lectures and take reallllly detailed notes! The articles are helpful, but tbh if you focus more on his lectures you'll be fine. His tests are pretty detailed
LAZY. Does not retype syllabus and has me reading chapters that have nothing to do with the lectures or the midterm and then sends out the study guide listing OTHER CHAPTERS THAT ARE GOING TO BE ON IT.
As a transfer student, this is the worst lecturer Ive ever experienced. Lecture slides are posted with no explanations, forcing you to attend lecture while still getting no clear information. Tests come straight from the book. Study guides dont help. Get ready to teach yourself the foundations of Psychology.
Professor Clark's powerpoint slides are vague. This is why going to lecture is so important! If you listen carefully to what he says during lecture and take good notes, you will do good on the exams. Read the book but focus on the lecture notes you took. His study guide helped tremendously.
Professor Clark is so funny and honestly has the most interesting lectures, but don't be fooled his class is hard and does require attention. Don't take if you have a heavy course load, record lectures, and make sure to know signal detection theory! Go to office hours for questions, went once and he was really helpful.
Slides are vague so that you have to pay attention to what the prof says, which is fine if you can focus and listen for a long period of time. However, this professor can get sidetracked, which gets distracting and makes it difficult to pay attention. The stakes are high in his class; only the midterms and finals make up the grade. Nothing else.
Dr. Clark was really cool and laid back, but his powerpoint presentations are a bit vague. The study guides were extremely helpful when it came to preparing for exams, but again, his slides weren't as helpful as there's not much information on them. There is definitely some pressure because your grade is only based on two midterms and the final.
The grade in this class is purely based on the midterms and final
Clark is a great professor in regards to his energy and enthusiasm during lectures, he also really cares for students understanding the material, but he is very strict with his grading. You can not pass this class by simply memorizing things, you really do have to put an effort into understanding the material.
Worst Professor at UCR. His Lectures are the same thing over and over again, and maybe cover a tenth of the midterms. Midterm and final is 100% of the grade. Learned more in the discussion sections than in the lecture. If you need to take this class wait till another professor teaches it.
Show up to lectures and you'll be fine. His exams are heavily based off of lecture and the slides. He posts his slides, so you'll be fine if you miss a few lectures. Made learning really easy and connects it to everyday events.
You have to go to lecture and take very intricate notes. His questions are detailed on exams so make sure you know your stuff. 25% midterm1 ,25%midterm 2 and final is worth 50% of grade.
Steve is a very funny, chill professor. Make sure to go to to discussion (ANONDAH IS THE BEST) bc his powerpoint slides do not have any information AT ALL. Make sure to always go to his lectures bc everything he says will be on the tests. 2 midterms and 1 final, DONT SLACK.
Prof Clark is hard to follow along in lecture but reading the textbook helps tremendously. The textbook is online for free. The concepts in this class are very theory based and therefore, what he lectures about can be hard to grasp sometimes. The final is cumulative and there are 2 midterms. It is not a very difficult class if you put the work in.
Come to LECTURES. The two midterms and the final are mostly based on what he says in lectures. His powerpoints are not very useful, so when you have questions, try to email him or ask your T.A. However, he is humorous and very entertaining. Pay attention in class, and you will do fine.
Professor Clark is a really nice guy and is funny but he's not the greatest professor. His lectures are confusing and he says one theory and explains it and then screams NOOO THATS NOT THE WAY and it confuses you. You have to know everything, recording lectures really helped me he talks very fast. Would recommend you take Rosenblum instead.
prof clark was hilarious and made lecture enjoyable. he finishes lecture early sometimes and didn't give any hw. however make sure to STUDY. the material itself is not very easy and tests are worth a lot. tests can be hard, but he always gives a freebie at the end.
I dont think hes good. He puts false info in the slides but explains in lecture that its wrong and its difficult to find that information. So if you missed class or werent paying attention... which happens to me a lot because he doesnt engage with the class and ignores a lot of questions. Theres no textbooks we just read studies and reports
Dr. Clark's class is an easy A. All you need to do is attend lectures, which is an easy thing to do anyway since his lectures are always so interesting and informative. His exams are mostly based on what he says in lecture, NOT based on the ppt slides. I didn't even do any of his readings and still managed to do very well on his exams.
You have to go to lecture or else the powerpoints will not make very much sense but he is very charismatic and teaches with a lot of enthusiasm. You should do most/all of the readings because his lectures are based off of them! Class grade is made up of 2 papers (each paper is 2 pages max), 1 midterm, and the final.
If you take this class you'll only be graded on 4 things. 2 exams (1 midterm 1 final) and 2 essays. The rubric for the essays was very strange and he never released it at my request. The final was 94 questions. You need to read since he asks questions about the papers on the tests. I wish attendance took part in my grade.
a super engaging professor! i would recommend going to all of the lectures and discussion sections. the book was free but even so you probably wont even need it for more than supplemental info as he goes over everything super thoroughly and explains it all very well in lecture.
Im class you can really see how passionate he is about psychology and that helps a lot when it comes to paying attention. You do have to go to class and listen if you want to pass but at least it means you are learning something which cant be said in many other courses. He replies to all of his emails and puts a lot of thought into his lectures.
I took this class Spring 2020 and he changed the way I view psychology and the law. Its an amazing class and I definitely recommend it to anyone interested in the subject. He is very respectful of students and everyones needs. Make sure you study for the quizzes because theyre 50% of the grade and the final is 50% of the grade too. Super happy!
Test Qs were hard! Seems like more of an attendance check than a material understanding check. I studied for weeks with 7-10 students for the tests and I still struggled. I took him before the pandemic when his tests were closed book, but I hear it's all open book now. He is a really sweet dude outside of class. His tests and lecture, no thanks!
Hands down my favorite professor on campus. His classes are very engaging and the material is very interesting to learn about. He does an excellent job teaching it, he is very knowledgeable about the subject. Weekly open note quizzes and a final is all that are required of this class. Open note everything, but the questions are tricky, not hard.
Legitimately a bad person. Falsely accused me of cheating by citing a rule he claimed he stated in class which he did not. When I produced a recording from another student proving he lied, I received a threat of expulsion for the recording instead of an apology. Years later I'm a lawyer and this is the kind of guy I go after. UCR should be ashamed.
