great prof! Incredibly nice and approachable... Interesting topics... If ya gots to take Anthro, take it from Steve!
very smart man and new tenured prof at u of l
he scares me a little
Cool guy with a good teaching style.
Awesome prof!!!DO YOURSELF THE FAVOR AND TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS MAN!!!!
Great person, great teacher, enthusiastic and interesting!
boooooooooooooooooooring......the only thing I learned in that class is how much diet coke the guy drinks.
good teacher, doesn,t show up to appointments. very smart guy. A's in all his classes. I learned a lot

Stroke his ENORMOUS EGO and you'll do great, otherwise you're an anonymous mediocre grade.
Very good prof. His Anthro 2010 class is a lot of work. Easy to understand. very funny

only took one class with him but he got me interested in anthropology. I learned a lot and plan to take more classes with him.
Cool, knows his stuff, aways there for us.
interesting
the post posterchild for woodstcok. laidback, ****in (in doubt; check picture in Jan's office)and is the owner of an extensive record collection! is always there when you need a helpin hand!
he's the nicest, most helpful , and laid back proff. exams are fair
This is the best prof I have ever had in any subject. He is very approachable, interesting to listen too, his comments on the essays are very helpful, he even reads arough drafts and offers advice. There is not enough I can say about this guy and how great it is to learn from him. He kicks ass. He also is a respected member of the anthro community.
Best prof I had in university. helpful, interesting, fun.
One of the most interesting profs I've had. Very passionate about the topics taught and yet laid back as a person - nice combo. Exams were a bit convoluted. Listen to his summaries to do well on exams.
steve is one of the best profs i had. Very passionate and his tests were easy. HE can be repeitive but at least you know what he expects on the tests
Very laid-back. Love his stories about his stay in Java but the class is booooooooring. I fell asleep in almost every class in the front row but he's still very friendly and nice outside of class. Tests are simple but be prepared to apply theories.
Steve is the best prof I have had in University. He is very knowledgable and great to learn from. He tells you what he expects from you on the tests so you are able to prepare. The tests are only hard of you don't come to class and listen to what he says. Take notes on his lectures. He is great. Take one of his classes if you can.
awesome. his class made me think about majoring...
Very nice, easy going guy! Fun class. Tests weren't too bad, just study the powerpoints and read the readings. Very approachable and laidback!

Boring class to sit through, the tests were easy, you just need to read the powerpoints, and know vocab, and basic concepts. I was disappointed with the class, and definitely would never take this again.

Very laid back, easy to approach, fun to listen to, and easy tests if you read the books. Extremely good experience!
His lectures are really boring and his tests are easy.
super great guy but the grading scale is super hard.
I really felt I was being taught by someone who was very influential and recognized in his profession. Very animated in lectures which helps keep your interest when it sometimes gets boring. Expects you to know whats on the PowerPoints even if you dont go over it in class.
unfair grading scale.
This class is ok. Steve is really nice. Sometimes goes off on rants and doesnt leave enough time for class material that needs to be covered. MAKE SURE YOU READ the BOOKS! The class has 4 novels to read and 5 exams (no final) if you read the books and study his slides its not that bad...
Steve is an ok teacher he does love what he teaches, however he loves to go on rants and does get distracted easily. Make sure you know your definitions inside and out for the tests as well make sure you know everything on the slides and you will do ok . Overall not a bad teacher
Such a nice guy - very fun and entertaining. Made the course interesting and was a fair marker. Tests were odd though. Reading is mandatory for exceptional grades. I'd suggest him, but not my first pick.
Great guy, knows his stuff. Makes class fun and interesting with great personal experiences from his field work.
good proff, a little inane and confusing with what he wants out of you, but a nice guy altogether, very helpful and approachable
If you can get past his massive ego, ridiculous exams, and lack of teaching ability then maybe, just maybe you can enjoy the course!
Fantastic teacher. Always keeps me engaged and motivated. Although there is a lot of storytelling in class, and even more reading outside of, he makes sure we all know what we're doing prior to an exam. Funny, outgoing, friendly, and a fantastic learning resource. Will gladly look for more of his classes to take. Thanks, Steve! =)
Good Teacher, liked this class alot. really easy if you keep up with it and the make sure you know some language words from the books. Super important!! Over all good class easy mark. =)
He is the worst prof i encountered thus far. He goes off on tangents the entire class and tells stories not even pertaining to the ciriculum. He chooses favorites and has trouble communicating. i recommend not taking his class.
BEST PROF EVER! If you show up to class, read and understand what he is talking about in class; it is an easy course! So interesting! :D
THIS CLASS WAS LIKE A BOOK CLUB. His tests barely have any questions on the books, he is completely vague and goes on tedious rants in the lectures. He has no sense of time, and half the time didn't finish the power points. Problems always happened on the tests. His stories about Java are completely irrelevant to the course.
Seriously the worst class I have ever taken. It was a huge waste of time and money. If you ask me what he does, I can tell you he does medical research on Diabetic Patients in Indonesia, but if you ask me what anthropology is, I have no clue. His powerpoints and lectures are useless and his lack of teaching ability upsets me so much!
Steve is...interesting. He tries to use a lot of his own stories in order to teach modern Anthropology, along with 5 or 6 books. The amount of reading he expects is far too much for a first year class. As his tests are split between his powerpoints and his selection of readings, there is a lot to remember. This course shouldn't be taken with Steve.
Best prof ever! The marking was GREAT TOO! Steve is the easiest prof to talk to,always willing to help, and essentially tells you what to write in your reports and on your test. He does go off on tangents about his experiences. But, I think it adds to the class. As long as you are up for the reading and stories TAKE THIS CLASS!
A genuine first rate anthropologist. No doubt about it. Steve is LEGIT. He teaches you to learn critical perspective, and it opens up the world in an awesome way. It's a class that not only teaches you great concepts, but also can help you to think in a better way. Highly recommend anything he teaches. You wont regret it.
Wow! What a prof! Really awesome! His classes are full of his personal experiences of Indonesia, and they really give you an idea of what ethnography is about. He helps you out for the tests too. He genuinely wants everyone to do good. I highly recommend any of his classes.
He's a really helpful prof but I never got anything out of his class. For every test I just studied his exam tutorial slides. You can do the bare minimum in his class and still do well. I stopped doing the readings after the first book and my marks never seemed to suffer. I would recommend because of the easiness of his class.
Awesome Prof! All over the place as usual, but you learn so much! Highly recommend his classes, no matter what the topic!
This prof is awesome. The seminar topic was not particularly interesting, but he made the course really fun and interesting. I highly recommend him, no matter what topic he teaches.
If you ever wanted to meet a real anthropologist it's Ferzacca. Take a class from him even if you're not interested in the subject, because he will make everything awesome. He works when he teaches, seriously animated, well versed, and interesting as a prof. Every class is fun.
Ferzacca is an incredibly energetic professor. He would make my day all the time just from his overexcitement when teaching. His lectures were a little unclear; his tests were fair though. Attendance not mandatory if you are an anthro student but a lot of what he says seems like it's very random.
I can't say enough good things about Ferzacca. He is by far my favourite professor and he takes pride in inspiring his students. If you ever have question or comment he will go to great lengths to answer and included your opinion. Frezacca wants you to learn the material and apply it to how you think about everyday life.
I dislike his teaching style. I did not learn anything in his classes, we missed a ton of class due to his absence, and I was turned off of Anthropology through his lack of teaching. So disappointed.
He is a true Anthropologist; if I could take a class with him again I totally would. However, there are a lot of readings. People who want to get the full Anthropological experience should defiantly take his class.
I got really bored during the lectures during the semester. Not a lot of learning in class, he likes to tell A LOT of stories, which sometimes can be helpful but a lot of the time aren't. There is a lot of reading, at least 10 readings with 20 pages each. Lots of people enjoyed the class, but I like to learn the material and move on.
Wish I could have more tags to describe how AWESOME this guy is. I was never bored in class, and the exams were so easy if you just glanced over the powerpoints and took general notes on the articles. Definitely an easy A if you put in effort, and NO textbook, which is such a bonus. Funny prof and makes the class personal. Do take classes with him.
Alot of people don't seem to understand Steve's methods but he truly is a great professor. His lectures are like an indepth conversation. For his exams you essentially retell that conversation in your own words. He goes over all the readings in class. If you like perfectly structured classes, and being told how to think, his class is not for you.
Ferzacca is a great lecturer and is really passionate about Anthropology. There was no textbook for the course and all the readings were posted online (course was fairly reading-heavy). 3 exams meant you didn't have to go to every class but if you want a decent mark full participation is strongly suggested.
Ferzacca is truly an amazing professor. Very funny, and unique in his teaching style. He did go off topic quite a bit, but it's because he has a ton of great stories, and real experience. Would definitely take another class with him. No textbook, but quite a few article readings.
Ferzacca is a funny guy, he will draw you in in the first lecture and then when the adddrop date passes you realize you made the worst mistake of your life. His lecture slides do not make any sense and what he talks about in class does not really reflect them, making it very hard to study and understand. WARNING THIS COURSE WILL NOT BE A GPA BOOST
I took anthropology as a GLER course and loved it. He was easy to listen to and understand. Certain areas of his research were extremely relevant to me so it was even more interesting to me.
By the end of course I was desperate for a textbook. Ferazaca's style is very loose, to the point where it borders on sloppy. The hardest part on a lot of tests was simply trying to understand the questions, some of which had marginal relevance to the readings. On the plus side he's a pretty fun prof, I just wish he had focused more on teaching.
One of the best profs ive had, so funny and interesting to listen to, loved his lectures. I found them extremely interesting. Would defintely take again.
Steve is good, but his eccentric personality in the classroom distracts from the actual content. Stick to the powerpoint and readings as there was no textbook and you'll probably do better than just going to class.
Ferzacca is an excellent professor and has a lot of personality that makes the lectures interesting and sets him aside from other profs. He the best professor I ever had and I recommend taking any of his classes.
-This was by far one of the most interesting classes I took as a first year! Steve makes the lectures very interesting and there is no textbook. He's a very entertaining lecturer. I highly recommend this class! -Knowing the readings in detail is key to succeeding on exams. Steve goes over the readings in class so be there!
Most of the material that was covered in this class was of little interest to me. This class probably isn't gonna be your forte if you're not from an anthropology or public health background. The one test we had was essay based, and there are two papers to do. Relatively easy workload for a 3000-level class but his marking is kind of weird.
He is the best professor ever if you try you will do very well. He is an easy marker and is not too heard on his students he just wants to to put effort and you will not only pass but pass with a B or higher.
this dude is super passionate about his subject and it really catches in you. he's a little wild, and tends to go on tangents, but they're almost always relevant, and very interesting, as they are about his own experiences. as long as you are interested by human culture and how it evolves, then this is the class and prof for you!!
Steve is an amazing prof, 100% recommend taking his class. Such a gem!
Great prof! I was nervous for the class but he made it so enjoyable. Easy going guy that wants you to learn. We had 3 take home essays and 8 (one page) mini writings on the readings. Just take his class!
Steve is so passionate about his work! He also really cares about his students and wants them to understand the material. His lectures always inspire me not to give up.
Steve is super disorganized as a prof. He is a super funny and nice guy but his classes are dry and confusing. Steve is all over the place and never sure how it related to the course. Posts articles online and just reads over articles and talks about them, these articles create most of the questions for the exams. Overall nice guy, just bad course
This is by far my least favourite class I've ever taken. Steve was so all over the place and disorganized that it made me dread coming to his class. Hard to tell what's actual material or just a tangent story. Nice guy at heart, just definitely not made to be a prof. Approachable and nice, just real weird, and tests are a huge joke.
Love him. Best professor ever
Good prof but could work on his exams. Most of the class did terrible and he didn't offer solutions or help. Just expressed his disappointment.
This prof is excellent and he knows what he is teaching. His lectures might seem long though he tries his best to make them fun. The course itself is straightforward and exams were in the guidelines of the study guide provided. I would prefer any major to look into this class.
Ferzacca makes his lectures so interesting and fun. 4 exams and 3 essays with 500 words (to boost up your grade). Memorize the slide properly and do not skip the reading materials, a good lib ed course N.B- it can be kinda overwhelming maybe because of the readings (which can be my personal experience) but Professor Ferzacca is the coolest fr.
passionate about what he teaches
