I disagree. Frankel was very clear, had great power-point presentations, and connected the material in a easy to understand fashion. You have to pay attention and study for tests, but we are in college, eh?

Dr. Frankel is a great professor. His powerpoint presentations help keep the students' interest. He really knows his stuff so always adds in extra info which is always very interesting. He is always willing to help students--his office is always open.

Dr. Frankel is an excellent professor. Botany tends to be a dull subject, but he made it very interesting. His tests are somewhat hard, but they are straight out of his lectures.

Dr. Frankel is a hard,teacher does gives alot of lecture notes and the labs are nonsense, but i have taken his classes and have had him for 3 semesters straight He is not bad at all maybe u just suck at it So dont complain, just dont take the class.

Very clear, concise, useful and relevant lectures. Not hard to take if you pay attention in class, and attend regularly. Don't even need the book if you do that. He has a good sense of humor, and teaches with the students in mind.

Just pay attention to his lectures and sit up front if you have questions. I only studied about a half hour before class and got an A on every test, and I failed Bio both semesters in high school. Lectures are kinda boring but it pays to listen. Recommend if you tend to be attentive.

He does cover a lot of info., but he knows what he's talking about and he is very clear and concise. You do have to pay attention. Yes, you have to read and study, but it's school and you're supposed to learn the info, not just pass the class. He is very helpful and available to his students.

Dr. Frankel is a very nice and good teacher. The lectures were interesting and easy to understand. However, he gave a lot of notes,and the tests are very hard. If you don't know English well, you better be prepered for hard time.

Dr. Frankel is a great teacher. You will have to be present in class, take notes, read all the chapters and memorize the details. His lectures are clear, but contain tons of info so you need to be prepared. Labs are so-so, they don't usually work, but are interesting. Tests are HARD and detailed.

The course was interesting and he is very energetic. The tests are a bit nuts and he could be a bit clearer as to focal points for studying. He makes up for it all by bringing in food to eat almost every other class though!

I didn't have any problems with him nor did anyone in the lab class. He was clear about what he expected on tests, the book wasn't necessary if you paid attention, and I found that the lectures could be pretty amusing if you were interested in the subject matter.

This teacher rocks! He really enjoys his subject, and is very interested in helping the students achieve. He is not easy, however if you study you will get a good grade, and learn a lot. I would highly recommend him. However, if you are afraid of work, check out another professor.

I tried to stick with this class, but dropped at the very end. The tests were the hardest I have ever had in college. Have fun with memorization! His quizzes were not multiple choice, and I was lucky to get in the 40's on them. Labs were easy, don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy, just not the greatest teacher.

Dr.Frankel is great. He knows the subject and likes to teach, but exam are tough. There are about 75 mutiple choices questions on the tests but if you work hard you willl get an A. Be prepared to do alot of work... hard grader, he does not curve at ALL.. alot of memorization. alot of busy intence work.

Great guy! SO helpful. He makes sense, but you HAVE to study the material and do the homework. Students aren't doing that well because they are slacking in this class. Funny and quirky guy! Makes ecology interesting. LOTS of labs and writing assignments.

Ecology is his thing, so expect to learn a lot about it! You get what you work for in his class ie. if you are going to slack you will not pass, but if you work hard you will get your A. He's funny, willing to help WHEN YOU ASK, and kinda cute too.

Frankel is super dry, he enjoys being sarcastic sometimes to the point of being unapproachable. He is a tough grader on labs and graphs but fairly lenient on grading exams. One great thing is on his exams he will let you have your choice of several questions to answer, so you can choose the ones you know the most about. He's all right.

Currently taking it during the summer, the class is not easy, but it's not too hard either. If you pay attention during class and take proper notes, you should be more than prepared for exams. Make sure you know everything he puts on the exam review sheets; his tests are extensive, entirely short answer so he asks about almost everything he covers.

He requires you to work! This was a very hard class yet, I learned an enormous amount about ecology. If you are serious he will help you as much as you need. The writing intensive portion is easy. His exams are essay and you must think and respond.

Utterly fantastic professor. Definitely one of my TOP faves at NEIU. Read the text, study, proofread your papers and you should do well. Dont expect to breeze through the class; Dr. Frankel expects effort. Put in the effort and you'll learn SO MUCH under his instruction. P.S. He's super funny and super sweet (but he isn't a pushover).

Dr. Frankel is my favorite professor at NEIU so far. Yes, he means business when it comes to labs and writing assignments. But aren't you in this to learn? His sarcasm and dry wit makes anything interesting. I am literally laughing throughout the entire class. He is so friendly and cool. I am definitely taking Ecology with Frankel in the fall!

he uses an online book that you can't avoid getting yet does not ask questions from it. His tests have straight forward questions with straight forward answers that he will mark wrong if you can't read his mind and get it word for word. You can't succeed in his class without having known exactly what we wants else prepare for losing tons of points

Dr. Frankel is very knowledgable and funny. You have to work hard in his class but it was not the hardest class I ever took. In order to do good you have to do the following: take lots of notes lecture notes = test material, do not wait until last minute to start your assignment ( very important). Enjoyed the class :)

I took ecology with him in the spring. The easiest teacher in the department for ecology. I got an easy A as he had a big curve at the end of semester. The class looks overwhelming at the beginning but he curves big time at the end. Almost everyone in our class received A or B.

I really liked his class, he lectures clearly, without boring you, which for a 3.5 hour lecture is a feat. Tests were straight off of his class lectures, and he made sure that testable material was only what had been mentioned in class. Easy A!!! Highly recommended

He basically tells you what you need to study and is very clear about what he expects. He's picky about papers and labs you turn in but put some time into it and you'll be fine. He's extremely helpful and understanding. Don't be afraid to talk to him since he can be a little sarcastic at times. Definitely would take again.

Gives outlines to EVERY lecture, important topics in bold. then come test time he'll format the exam according to the outline. EASY! (but its a lot to study so As are hard). He's picky, BUT only because he clearly tells you what & what not to do, its for your own good. Scientific writing is precise, concise & professional, he will help you do this

He's a very good teacher. He assigns a few assignments a week and expects you to take notes and read the book. He is picky on points so don't be surprised to get half of the grade you thought you would on a lab. Nonetheless, he is a very good teacher, you will learn a lot. I would take him again.

Make sure to take notes because whatever he says is exactly whats going to be on the exam. Some people would record him but I took really good notes. He is very passionate about ecology and makes the lecture so interesting. He makes you work for your grade, it is not easy. Hwever hes an awesome professor. I recommend

Great lecturer. Really knows his material. Has students best interest in mind. If you ask for help he will give it to you. Will make you feel stupid sometimes but he doesn't mean any harm. Class was on plants and I hate plants. Dr. Frankel made class interesting and fun. Very knowledgeable and great to talk to. He has reasonable expectations and is very fair. Highly recommend him and the class

Everything he lectures in class is almost word for word on what is going to be on exam. Be prepared to take lots of notes, you dont want to miss information. Over all if you took good notes, easy A.

I love him! Everyday i learned something intetesting and my formal writing got so much better. He may seem like a smart ass at time but only because he really wants you to think for yourself. Not an easy A but Bs are easily obtainable. Do your readings. Do the homework. Follow his rubrics, he tells you exactly what he wants. Check your grammer

Must be in lecture in order to get the information. Powerpoints are just full of pictures. He provides an outline all you have to do is fill it in. Other than that, his explanations are clear and he tells you EXACTLY what he wants. Follow his instructions and you'll do fine. He is a great teacher and simply wants you to get better. "Lots of" work.

This professor is not an easy A. With that being said, Dr. Frankel knows what he is talking about and explains everything in great detail. He will further explain if you ask. He also goes into great detail on what he wants on assignments. Just study and do the assignments EXACTLY like he asks you to. Plus, His sarcasm and jokes are on point.

Dr. Frankel is a tough grader, however, he tells you exactly what needs to be in papers and what will be on the exam. If you do not pull your weight, you will not do well in this class. Take the time to understand the material rather than memorize. He is very helpful if you prove to him you are putting in the work.
