very very bad and confusing teacher. it seemed as though he really didn't kbnow what hw was talking about most of the time.
Very disorganized man. Extremely intelligent, but tends to teach over the heads of his students - we are not rocket scientists.
I had mr gallo his first semester teaching at delta fall of 02. He was disorganized and didnt really know what to do. But with the help of his wonderful students, he listened to us, and it worked out for the best. He would get extra points when you caught his mistakes, so keep your eyes open!
teacher with good intentions. But not very clear.
This guy was easily the worst teacher/instructor that i have ever had in my life. The semester before I had him, there were actually students who went to the head of the math department to complain about him. He is very much an absant minded professor who goes way over the head of his students. His teaching style is bizzare and unorganized.
He has very good intentions but really needs help getting his stuff orgiganized. He has a very good and humble heart though. A good man.
The worst teacher I have ever had at Delta. He was rude, arrogant, and had the worst personal skills. You dont even feel comfortable coming to him with a teacher. If you can still drop the class, do it.

He is sometimes scattered and unclear in his teachings. However,he is generally very basic in his teachings. He takes time to teach step by step which is necessary for a basic algebra course. He is always willing to help explain a multiple of times if necessary. Overall,he is very helpful and extremely eager to help either before or after school.
WOW whoever said bad things about Mr. Gallo must be a really bad student. Anyone who wants to do well in his classes will do it because he breaks down the course for each and every student no matter the size. He is extremely available, in person or through email, before or after class to help anyone. He keeps me interested and laughing all day
I would take Mr. Gallo a million times over. Anyone who wants an awesome teacher who genuinely wants you to do well, take gallo. I usually dread math class but i always look forward to this class. GO GALLO!!!
Steve is funny and friendly. He will help you with anything you need in his class. If you have a question he will do his best to answer it for you without giving you the answer.
i swear, whoever is saying that gallo is not helpful is just not asking!!! honestly I am horrible at math, but i passed with a B just because he broke everything down and he even taught us how to use the calculater and all the formulas!!! very nice guy, always wants to help, and is funny. take his class!!!
I have one word of advise for you Mr. Gallo, you need to take this class yourself and you need to take it from Dr. Spake. Then maybe you will understand how to TEACH. Whoever say's this man is a great teacher is probably a rocket scientist. I have a 4.0 and this class is the first class at Delta that hasn't made sense. Take SPAKE
Mr. Gallo is a great teacher. He's funny and enjoys interacting with the class. If there was ever a time I didn't understand something he would go over it again until I understand it. He's very helpful and goes above and beyond to help his students success.
took him for stats a while back and he was great. I've taken stats classes at UC's before and he taught just as well or even better than any UC math professor.
Great teacher! Very helpful and caring about students. He tells some horrible jokes but makes the class enjoyable. His lectures can be a little confusing so make sure you read the material ahead of time. Do all of the homework and study hard and you'll do fine in his class.
This Pre cal class is very tough. However Mr. Gallo try's to make it as easy as possible by helping you even if he has to cover the same material over again...But Sometimes even the lectures can get confusing so my suggestion is that you focus on doing all the homework and review sheets to get a good grade!......... & Overall, he is a great guy!
Nice guy, stutters but mildly, easily understood. I like his teaching method its not the normal, show example you figure out rest, he actually does the problems that would seem hard.
Mr. Gallo is awesome! I really liked his teaching style and he is always willing to help any student who is having problems (including weekends). Tells corny jokes but thats part of his charm. However, it's not an easy class. I had to work very hard for my grade but it was totally worth it. You really know the stuff at the end of the semester.
really good teacher:)
This is the worst teacher I've ever had! I didn't understand anything that came out of his mouth all semester and I got A's in all my other math classes. He has his own weird way of working out problems and is very confusing. I had to go home and reteach myself everything. He also messes up a lot and has to go back and redo the whole problem.
Mr.Gallo is the biggest nerd teaching at delta. He has his own corks and can be confusing a lot of the time. i worked my butt off in this summer school class and got a B. this class was hard because i hadnt had anything like it before. Mr.Gallo can be pretty humorous which is a break from sometimes a dry lecture. he is extremely helpful.
He's such a helpful teacher. If you don't understand the materials, he WILL spend time and go over it with you. (Even on the weekends!!) He wants you to not just pass the course, but understand it. He is a nerd and thinks he's jokes are funny. He's a fun teacher.
Great personality and easy going, but be prepared. He teaches as though you're a fellow mathematician and not a struggling student. He'll use every second of class to cram as much in as he can, sometimes covering 3-4 sections of a chapter in one night, much to the detriment of his students. Also, a comprehensive final covering close to 9 chapters.
Its only the 2nd week of class and i can already disagree with most of these comments. Gallo is a very helpful teacher ready to answer any questions you ask. Yea at times he might confuse himself and do the problem wrong but he'll go back and fix it right away. He has his little jokes that r kinda funny haha. Not bad..for now?
Mr. Gallo is one of the best math teachers I've had. He clearly explains the material and will go slower if he feels the class isn't understanding it. He's a bit dorky with his stories and jokes (did things like the Barney laugh and karate chops mid-lecture as well as Star Trek references to the material) Overall really nice guy. Highly recommended
I had him for PreCal and I only took it as a review class but he was very helpful. I understood a lot of the things he had taught the class, and his tests were about everything he had discussed. Homework isn't mandatory in his class but it pays off as practice material for his tests.
Well its the end of the school year and i have to say i wish i could take Gallo for ALL of my math classes..he's not rude at all and makes jokes..gives retakes on every test..and he really cares about the students..gallo is the best
this guy is cool take him Now...
Gallo is an awesome guy, BUT and yes there is a big one, if you do not have prior knowledge in this subject, he is hard to follow, and gives explanations that are just a reiteration of the book, he is funny, and does work with you but, i brely passed his class, all because i never truley understand the subject.
Mr. Gallo is a nice guy and he does try to help but when he teaches he explains it like you already have a background of the subject. It makes perfect sense in his head but not in everyone elses. If you ask a question he will make the problem seem more complicated than it is. He needs to go slower and explain things better. If u have him drop.
This teacher would only be a good teacher for someone who gets math and knows what he is talking about. Other than that, people who struggle will fall behind. If you are one who doesn't automatically understand something, do not take this teacher. You WILL fail.
If you're taking Mr. Gallo's class, buckle your seatbelt, you're in for a wild ride! I took Stats in 5 weeks and it was the most comprehensive class I have ever taken. Mr. Gallo is kind and humorous. He guides you through problems, and helps if asked. However, he tends to go off on unnecessary explanations of deep, complex theory that is not needed
While I don't doubt he is good at other math subjects, I do know that calculus is not his thing. Difficult, incomprehensible lectures. Messed up numerous times a day. No review sheets. Tests sometimes moved 4 times(the day of) bad overall. I'm a math major and I wouldn't take him for calc again. He is better than Brown, but not by much
He's not a very good teacher when it comes to math. His lectures aren't very clear. The tests are sometimes pushed back, and there isn't an exact date. He didn't show up on the first day of class. i don't recommend taking this teacher.
Mr. Gallo is not only an excellent teacher, but a great person. Although I didn't do well in his class, I have to accept personal responsibility and say that it was my fault that I didn't do well. I feel as though many of the students who commented on Mr. Gallo projected their faults onto him and were not adequately prepared for this level of math.
Although his lectures can sometimes be long and confusing for stats, his class is definately passable. He gives cheat sheets for tests and if the class still struggles, he gives retakes. His assignments are do able as well. He's a good guy and if u need help, he will help you.
I advise all those who plan on taking Calculus with Mr. Gallo to first have some knowledge of the subject before entering Mr. Gallo's class. Based on how he teaches, it's as if he expects you to know the subject already. He will often go off during his teaching and will discuss stuff unrelated to the topic. I basically had to teach myself Calc.
Not the best teacher so far. He messes up on problems constantly which makes them more confusing than they already are. Maybe he would be easier for those who really understand the material before hand since I'm pretty much having to teach myself
Professor Gallo is a great teacher. I took his STATS class this summer and got a D, but I stopped working, and I'm taking his class again with more time and I'm doing great. Only exam 2 requires decent studying. If you fail the test, he'll let you retake as many times. Great guy, very smart, makes mistakes calculator mistakes, but who doesn't?
This is a hard class, he is a sweet guy, and really dorky-funny, but his teaching method confuses most of the class. If you are not good at math or you are not a self-teacher then avoid this class. He allows you to retake tests however the tests are still really hard regardless of how many times you retake it....
nice guy, but teaching is not his gift. He doesn't do half the problems right on the board, then has to go back and figure out what he did wrong. I would not recommend him for any reason.
i took mr gallo during the summer and only attend class when there was an quiz or exam, barely did my hw but i passed with a b+... i pretty much taught myself cause he always made mistakes on the board. take his class only if you can teach yourself from the book.
This guy is terrible. Can't understand his stammering, unorganized thoughts. He also goes off on tangents when answering questions and in the end makes the class more confused then before. Unless your a great self learner: STAY AWAY!!!
Teach yourself everything!. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much homework.
I loved this instructor! Stastics is a hard class in general, so you have to do a lot of at home studying, but he does whatever it is to explain the material to you and makes sure you understand it. He gives you practice exams that are exatly like the tests so nothing is a surprise. He will stay late to help you and truly wants you to succeed.
RUN AWAY. If you can teach yourself from the book, awesome; just tune out during lecture so you don't get confused. You'll be furiously writing lecture notes, only to discover they help minimally with the homework. Keep in mind that he skips steps in lecture examples. I highly suggest befriending people who already understand calculus.
HORRIBLE TEAHER!! You basically have to teach yourself from the book. He rambles and does problems on the board on his own without explaining anything. Really unorganized. He has no control over his students, and lets them take advantage of him (not in a dirty way). I had his class this past summer and he is the worst teacher I ever had.
DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER! He isn't very clear or helpful when he teaches. And he also writes very small and everywhere on the board. So as soon as you figure out what he wrote, you have no idea how to solve the problem because he is so disorganized. He gives assignments every week and they're the tests, but somehow the majority of the class fails.
Might be THE worst teacher at Delta.I dont understand how any person can get through this class. His notes are disorganized. He faces the board the whole time and talks in a monotone voice.I could not stand this class. His notes are ALL over the place and I really tried at home to re-read everything and ended up being more confused.Do not recommend.
I wouldn't suggest taking this class. Mr. Gallo is rather disorganized, and his notes are all over the board, which is hard to copy down. He does help before and after class, but you definitely need to be able to learn from the book for this class.
Mr Gallo is a good teacher. He loves to tell jokes and love rotisserie chicken.lol. It is important to show up to class and take notes. he gives hw but its hand out from problems he makes up. i never opened my book to read only when he did practice problems n class. I listened and took good notes. there are 4 test and he gives u a formula sheet
I just finished math 82 with mr gallo and am here to redeem him from everyones nonsense comments, he is a GREAT teacher! if u have questions he helps u he doesnt make u feel dumb and his tests are multiple choice, hw is only review sheets which helps with the tests a lot, hes hilarious too which helps lighten the mood and i highly recommend him! :)
Didnt like him at first. He makes tons of mistakes and gets side tracked a lot.. sometimes the book explains more clear than him. Overal, he is a very sweet teacher. He is willing to stay however long needed for a student. Definitely wants you to learn and thats why his tests can be a little hard. Not recommended for higher level maths though.
Mr. Gallo is a really cool teacher.Took Math 80 with him this summer. Started out teaching really monotone, but connected with the class in the end enough to make jokes. Very helpful. Willing to help students on deadlines and material. Gives retakes. Very, very helpful and nice overall.
Class is hard&he isn't very organized like other math teachers. We would fall behind with assignments, then try to catch up by rushing through sections a day.You will learn a new chapter before the test of the previous 2 chapters. So that can make it difficult to study&do the current new homework. But he gives retakes of test & is very kind and funny.
TAKE THIS CLASS! Honestly yes he is a little confusing at time but ask questions! Because then he does explain step by step I received a B in his class. I didn't even study that much. The final is multiple choice all his tests multiple choice and he has RETAKES for tests! Go to the tutoring center for help. The final is so easy! TAKE IT!
TAKE HIS CLASS! I got a B. All his tests multiple choice! He does retakes for the first two exams and try not to miss any class because he give out EXTRA CREDIT! So just stick through his class! Go to tutoring if you need help! He is a little confusing but if you ask questions about the quizzes or test he will answer them step by step!
He will help you out, and has a sense of humor. Regular attendance is recommended. The work for the class is mostly tests and really no homework.
Great teacher, goes step by step through each problem and takes the time to explain things in A LOT of detail. (a little too much detail sometimes) He grades really fair and gives partial credit even if you get the answer wrong. practice quizzes are almost identical to the test so they are great study guides.
IDK why but with this class he didnt allow retakes or notes for the tests. He must switch it up to surprise students. Nice guy, not a great teacher. Makes mistakes and doesnt really come prepared with a teaching plan. He WILL answer questions and help out though so its a 50/50 with him. Dont take during summer tho,3 hrs of math lecture is too much
Awesome teacher! One of 2 best math teachers ever. He's funny so he keeps what could be a boring subject entertaining. He stays with a topic until everyone understands. I wish he taught Math 82 next semester!
I am still in his class, but so far it has been a unique experience. He is very helpful if you just ask, but you should really study (ESP. In the summer classes like Math 82!). His jokes were funny to me, and he is a really honest man. I know he wants his students to learn and he is trying! It isn't so hard if you work and study like he recommends.
highly recommend! will not move on with a section if the majority of the class doesn't understand and will usually stay after to help students individually. everything on the tests is on the study guide and he offers a make up on almost all the tests! he's a very nice guy.
it was hard to understand his lecture... i failed most of his test. he goes over the problem but i still couldn't get the concept since we had a schedule to follow but we didn't.
Awesome teacher! One of the best math teachers ever. He's funny so he keeps what could be a boring subject entertaining. Gives amazing lectures .
Gallo has bad reviews and he knows it, he is constantly trying to make up for it, even though its not his fault. Class is easy. Come to class don't skip. One to two assignments per chapter, gives you formula sheet for exams just know how to apply them to the problems. Offers makeup exams as well. Exams are just like the homework.
Took Gallo over the summer and it was terrible! I had to go to the tutor center EVERYDAY! Including a big portion of the class as well! I highly recommend not taking him!
The guy's personality is great. He's pretty cool and has his little jokes and stories to tell. But he should not have become a professor. He get's off topic a lot and has his back facing you almost the whole time. If you are able to teach yourself the material then take him. Also his practice tests are just like his actually tests.
Gallo is a great professor. very clear and thorough durring his lectures. Great personality. Always extremely helpful.
Good teacher. Lecture is confusing and hard time understanding materials. Book is a requiremnt to learn from his lecture. A lot of homeworks and requires tutoring if need help. Exams are straightforward from what he taught during lecture and homeworks. Also, post study guides and homework key on Docushare.
He does everything he can to make sure his students are ready for every homework assignment and every quiz. For the final he asked if we were ready to raise our hand and I wasn't ready. He said if we weren't raising our hands we could leave and come back next week for the final. That extra week of studying was very appreciated.
Only does a few problems out of the book for examples. Pay attention to lectures, take notes and memorize formulas. Pretty easy if you get the basic concept of formulas. Get a TI-84 plus. Ask questions; will push an exam or two if he feels the class as a whole is not ready.
Best math professor I've taken yet. Math was a very sore topic before taking Gallo. His lectures are clear, his grading criteria is clear, and little homework is given. His homework packets are identical to his tests. He gives exam retakes. He's also a funny guy that will stay after class to help students. This is math... DO NOT expect an Easy A!
Really enjoyed his class, he's very helpful and just love his teaching style. This was my first class in 3 years and I got A's on all my test. He gives a couple home works a week, and if you don't understand it or need help you can ask him before lecture and he'll do it on the board, but most times he will ask if you have any questions on it.
Horrible. He's a nice guy, but doesn't introduce new concepts, he just throws them into the lectures and expects us to understand them. Doesn't put a lot of his time into his students, and never hands us back graded work. I've never received a hw back, so we rarely get feedback on how we're doing in the class. I don't recommend taking him at all
Although I wasn't fond of Gallo's teaching style, I did enjoy his goofy personality. He can be confusing and tends to mess up a lot when teaching the class problems. I felt the textbook was VERY helpful. Expect chapter reviews(HW) and chapter tests. He gives retakes on tests too if you fail them on Saturday mornings.
Taking him for Stats, during the summer, great, been getting noting but A'S in my test. 3rd time trying to take this class, i have been stalling, but this time i will actually finish, it's easy . Maybe to easy. You just have to make sure you sony fall asleep or daydream or you will miss everything.
take him if you have been struggling , its great, passed and it wasnt so much of a drag
Prof Gallo is caring and funny. He really cares about his students knowing the material and gives second chances on test. He doesnt really lecture, just does a bunch of problems out of the book, but like I said, he wont make move on unless everyone understands. No hw, test are multiple choice, be sure to attend class and take notes
Gallo is a very very sweet teacher but can be confusing at time... So if you struggle understanding his lectures go to tutoring in MESA! It helped me so much when it came to doing my homework and preparing for exams! Study the practice tests that are provided on his DocuShare and you will be fine for tests!
Truly a terrible class taught by a nice but incredibly boring and somewhat rude professor. Gallo will gladly give you a 89.999 without raising your grade to an A because that's just the type of person he is. Can be nice at times but not when it comes to grades and things like that. responds to emails very late, does not have office hours, no help.
Hands down, such a great professor. If you need him to slow down he will, if you have questions just ask. Hes very kind and has a sense of humor. He truly cares about his students who put in the effort. Offers exam retakes.
Get ready to study everything on your own! Professor Gallo isnt clear in his teaching at all and he seems to enjoy solving the problems on the board instead of teaching them. He does offer review tests and lots of retakes so that helps! Hes a nice guy, but not a great teacher.
Professor Gallo gives you all the tools to succeed. His homework is almost a replica of his exams. He gives you three retakes, per exam. You can definitely bring an F to an A. I used one retake and made it out with an overall 98%. I struggled with math all my life. Its sad but I dont even know all my multiplications. I got an A so can you!
His lectures were hard to understand and I spent most of my time in the tutor center. He does offer re takes for the exams which helped me so much!! He seems very unorganized and I never received any of my homeworks back. As long as you study hard you WILL pass. Be prepared for a lot of work.
Attendance makes a difference because he uses the first hour of class to explain the new material and the second hour to start the homework & if you skip you will definitely be lost. He has practice exams on DocuShare which are close to the actual exams & offers retakes. Do the homework, show up, pay attention and you should be fine.
Immediatel he was extremely slow to explain anything/everything. Be prepared to teach yourself. He will go on about a topic and no one will have any idea what hes talking about b/c he doesnt explain himself. Also, MONOTONE is an understatement. Like I said PREPARE TO TEACH YOURSELF. He confuses himself every 5 minutes, we taught him. GOODLUCK
Gallo is one of the best professors I've had. Unsure why others on here bad mouth him, I mean the guy gives you chances to retake exams (which are not even hard in the first place), and lets you turn in late homework assignments. If you don't pass his class you might be just dumb, don't blame him for your inability to think. Take the class.
Sometimes, he is boring and he talks about theory too much. However, he is witty and self-deprecating. He does around 60% of the homework in class and the extra credit. You do not need the book. He gives retake exams (easy pass if you are a serious student). If you learn to check your work with the calculator, this class will be easy.
Professor Gallo a down to earth professor. He is so caring and wants his students to pass. If you have questions just ask. He is available after class and he is understanding. You also get exam retakes. Final isn't mandatory.
Great teacher, highly recommend
Gallo is the best! The homework is very simple and his practice exams are very similar to the tests. He even offers make up exams! He is very funny and the class is not stressful. Ask if you need help and he will nicely explain! He does not pass homework back which is frustrating. Easy A if you study the homework/study guide for 1-2 hours.
90% of the final grade is on exams, the remaining 10% is homework. Also has old exams & keys on docushare to help you review for your exams. Also has old homework & keys on docushare. His lectures are kind of boring but as long as you follow it, you should be fine.
Youre graded by 6 exams and several homework pages. Exams are very similar to the study guides found on Professor Gallos docushare. He even lets you make up exams. He uses a textbook that can be found online for free. Lectures can be heavy, but make sure to attend class everyday to stay on top of deadlines. Easy to pass if youre diligent.
Easy class if you give effort. There are 6 exams which are in the same format as the practice exam on docushare. Let's you do retake on any exam. Not the best at explaining but if you follow the examples you should be able to do the hw. If you do good on exams, it is easy to pass. Overall, it was an easy class with reasonable amount of work.
Super unorganized and kept on pushing back midterms until we had to do some back to back. Wont admit when hes wrong even though he constantly makes mistakes on tests. No one knows how theyre doing in class because he hasnt passed back work from the beginning of the semester. Awkward and unclear while teaching. Free but very unhelpful textbook
Tests (5+1final) are worth 90% of your grade. He grades them all equally so no need to panic for the final. Docushare is your bestfriend for this course. He lets you retake exams & the hw/tests are the same like the ones on docushare with different problems. I could've got a B but I slacked lol he grades hw very easy & ti-84 is needed. no textbook
A nice guy, but does not explain anything clearly. He lectures as if hes talking to himself. He brings up new concepts and throws it into the lesson without explaining, expecting us to know it already. He stumbles on his words all the time and when asked a question, he has a hard time answering. Be ready to teach yourself and ask others for help.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. I had an A during the inperson part of this class he lets you retake the test and it's super helpful once you find DocuShare, which is hard to find in itself. But because of COVID we are online and use MYLAB from PEARSON LEARNING to teach ourselves and it's so awful and he hasn't contacted us in over a month lmao
Due to the uncertain times, the majority of the class had to come together to get ahold of him. He has now reached out to us about a week away from finals and is showing some compassion due to his absence from the class. Finite math is not easy and its even harder when you're teaching yourself. Gallo is a good man, the material however..
Statistics miss the answer on a quiz/test/hw by a hundred thousands place its wrong. Also super fast pace if you miss figure it out for yourself. As a decent student I was doing well even under the very difficult class format but when it became an online class due to COVID-19 all effort just all crashed and burned. S
Professor Gallo goes through his lectures very fast as well as he skips a lot of the material that he is not fond with to make you learn by yourself. I took him during the pandemic and he just dropped off the face of the earth and when everything went online for months not replying to anyone in the class for help until 5 days before finals weredue
I took this class for math 20 finite math. It was honestly the worse class i have ever taken. Exams are worth 80% of your grade. he doesnt teach anything at all you will teach yourself. We went online during the pandemic and he wasnt prepared. He went months without replying to any students he kept adding hw. He replied to us with 3 days left part1
Part 2. he didnt reply to anyone until there was 3 days left in the semester. he left every student hanging and we all couldnt figure out what to do. Once we finally set complaints out he finally replied. This class was a joke and it was important to take this class for my major. Luckily i passed but be careful taking him as your professor
Don't take his classes online cause they're just stupid. I had to learn everything by myself because he didn't give any lectures. He also tends to post homework and exams in the middle of the week leaving less time available to get it done. Don't take this class. Struggling is guaranteed if you want to pass the class.
Professor Gallo seems to be a caring individual but however with his class being online it does not allow us as students to learn much of the material. The homework can become very stressing as you have multiple assignments including an exam due on the same day and it can be confusing as homework due dates are different than the ones on my pearson.
(PART 1) I took this over the summer online and he is slow to respond, not only that, but he is not consistent! He is behind himself and I don't think he knows what he was doing himself. He posts the homework and exams each week but never on a specific date or time. He gives out 5-8 homework and an exam a week. Then there is also a final exam.
(PART 2) In total 8 exams(75% of grade) like 23 homework (10%) and Final Exam (15%). The homework is long and tedious with too many parts! The only good thing was it was unlimited tries for the homework and you get 3 tries for each of your exams and the Final. It's doable, but insane! This class takes up all your time! I don't recommend if online!
Worst and hardest class I've ever taken.
Hard class and I would not recommend him if its online.
constantly changed due dates due to his inability to stay organized, last week of class he added 17 assignments, 5 exams on top of what was already due, why would you cram 17 assignments in 1 week and schedule 3 exams on the last day just bc its online? chapter 6 had 6 sections each section had at least 38 questions and thank god for mathway
COMPLETELY ROBBED ME OF MY EDUCATION!!!!! Dont take this professor
Honestly such a great professor and truly cares about his students and their success. I struggle very hard in math and he lets you retake exams multiple times which helped me out a lot! Highly recommend!
The worst professor I've experienced in college. Very unorganized and changes due dates multiple times. Does not respond to you when message him in canvas. Has you email homework to him on his personal email. He will literally post lecture videos 2 days before he wants 7 assignments and 2 tests done. Impossible class to pass.
