His lecture is very easy and very long and boring. When the test comes it is totally different then his lectures. The test is way too hard and the Each H.W contains like 80 or more question which you have to do and submit. And he doesnt even go over them.
Not hard, but boring. Perhaps the best choice out all other ACC3100 professors.
He gives way to much homework, the homeworks are more then 80 questions. The lecture is mad boring. He writes chicken scratch. But here is a little hint i'll give you, as for now he gives exaclty the same test from previous term. So you know ........
Curves a lot good professor
The professor is very boring, his lectures will put you to sleep. His lectures are difficult to understand because it is very unclear. He doesn't follow the book so can't relate his lecture with the book. A lot of homework and he does count it against you
Tons of homework that he doesn't cover but could count toward your grade. Lecture is horrible, not well prepared for class, tests are hard (not similar to hw problems). If you can avoid this guy, please do.
he is a little disorganized and gives lots of hw, and never goes over it. tests are harder than what you do in class, but he gives alot of notes on bb, no need to go to class, need to really understand the material, but he curves alot, and answers any questions, not the best or the worst professor
He's not a bad teacher, just a little disorganized at times, and a little careless here and there. He's a nice guy though and occasionally cracks a funny joke. VERY generous grader- great curve.
all of have to say is he's not the professor that you would want to have. stay away if you can. if you can't, then good luck.
Stay away from this guy, his midterms and final is total difference from class lecture. He gives tones of homework, the only good thing is that is curves alot and his exams is multiple choice. He is not a good professor, I learnt nothing in his class.

He is the worst professor i have ever had at Baruch College. He gives you an unrealistic workload, does not go over his 80 question homeworks. He teaches like a robot; going at an extremely fast pace. He explains concepts illogically, has no sympathy for students and has trouble hearing. HARD EXAMS
Not well organized, gives out homework which is not covered in class and he does not go over. Rambles on and on about the same stuff, then does not cover half of the book. Unless he is your only choice, you are well served picken someone else
DO NOT TAKE HIM. Lustgarten is for people who have 3 hours everyday to study on their own. This guy is REALLY HARD and his homeworks will drive your crazy.
Horrible professor!! Massive homework, notes that are nothing like the homework OR the tests - and tests are ridiculously hard - also cumulative final..
This guy is very hard and has the personality of a lawn mower.
This professor thinks we are rocket-scientists. Prepare to work your a*s off. His homeworks require around twenty hours a week. His tests are ridiculously difficult and taken from who knows where. He should be fired and sent far far away.
He was humor. He was well prepared for his classes and very organized. His exams were quite simple though most of them were not related to the homeworks. But all the practices in the homework would give you the problem solving skill in the exams. It's very helpful in his practice exam also. Many questions for practice would repeat in the exams.
Financial accounting is an essential accounting class, which it is supposed to be hard. Though is tough for the material and the homework seems a little bit overwhelming, but you can learn a lot. He tried to make it easy in the class and in the final-it is easy to get a good grade.....and, learn a lot.
Test are very fair especially if you study the practice exam. Homework is a killer though and it's worth 20%. After doing his homework his test felt like a breeze. I would recommend him.
good professor
He is not helpful to his students. Wont go over HW's to help students out. His tests are nothing like what you do in class.
he is not as bad as people here have described him...quiet organized with notes and exams are a lil hard but he curves a lot....the only bad thing is he gives a lot of home work..if u do good on them it will definitely go towards improving your grade,so take him if u dont mind working hard and u will do fine.
He is so easy. All you have to do is spend 3 hours every day doing his homeworks and reading the book. When exam time comes, just memorize the sample exam as well as the 400-odd homework questions. Don't forget to suck up and go to his office..he might remember u by finals week ;)
Horrendous, does not care about students at all.
This guy rocks! Test are very fair if you study the practice exam. All you have to do in his class is the homework... after doing all his homework, the test is piece of cake. highly recommended!!
This guy is killing me... Class is so borring. He cannot expain anything. Sometimes he does no the answer himself
he's good but BORING oh my goodness... but his tests are alright, if you've done your hw you should be okay. grades on a curve. he hands out his notes sometimes and posts them up on blackboard [again, only sometimes] if you've had him for acc 3100 it's the same stuff again in fin 3000.
he is the worst my gpa got low because of his teaching and grading not helpful at all
I just began taking him, he cant teach for****. What he does teach is so easy- you'd think you're going to ace the exam. But the questions come from the book, so they're just as hard as the next teacher, minus the learning. If want to do good, you have to study on ur own. The book is your bible. He's the sheperd.
Seriously this professor is dumbest professor I have ever encountered. This guy can't teach for ****! I've tried to stay awake in his class but they are unbelievably boring. The hw is nothing like the exam and what he shows in his notes is nothing similiar when reading the book. Please avoid this professor.
His lectures are boring.I convinced myself to sit in his class but could not help. He cannot teach. If you want to learn dont take him. if you are ok with c- or c and have fun then take him because he doesnt take attendence. For me his class is worthless and no learning and boring. I would never ever take his class. AVOID HIS CLASS.
his lectures are boring, you can easily fall asleep. aslo his lectures have nothing to do with what's on the exam. In addition his Final is Cumulative and he wont tell you that untill the end of the semester. he aslo makes a lot of mistakes. But you could get a good grade if you study the practice exams bc they are very similar to the actual ones.
avoid him..he is confused and disorganized..JUST DONT TAKE HIM AT ANY COST
doesn't know how to teach and half the time he doesn't know what he's talking about. study the book and the practice exams as much as you possibly can and you should be ok but you won't be learning anything from him.
THe worst professor I have ever taken in my life. He is not approachable, does not care about his students or his profession. I warn everybody who is about to take him, please do not.....
no teaching skills at all just like most of the accounting professors at baruch, but hes is the worst teacher, he doesn't know what he is even talking about. an average grader
do not take him at any cos, he will ruin your GPA, any your interest in accounting, i wondehow come he is still teaching, HE SHOULD BE FIRED, HE DOES NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ACCT. AVOID HIM
if the previous coments were regarding accounting, you wouldn't even want to try takink finance with him. a nice guy but horrible teacher, the worst ever no doubt. the first time in my life i needed to drop a class two month after semester started. do yourself a faivor - avoid him.
ONE OF THE WORST PROFESSORS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.... I NOT ONLY KILLED MY SELF FOR MY GRADE BUT ALSO FOUGHT WITH HIM FOR THE GRADE.......

This professor is not as bad as everybody say he is. The key to doing good in his class is do and understand his homework and study the practice test he gives. He gives a slight curve and he does not take any attendence.
He possesses no teaching skills. So you have to study on your own. It is not clear how he calculates your final grade, you'll never going to find out. Makes lots of mistakes in class, students always have to correct him. Final IS CUMULATIVE, even though he claims it is not. Only a day before the final he send email saying it will be cumulative...
gives alot of hw. the class is not that hard but not an easy A or B. do the hw, practice exams, and read his notes online. dont have to go to class. he does make alot of mistakes and could be confusing. there are better prof to teach FIN 3000 but he is not the worst.
He is not that bad. Its not true that he mentioned the cumulative final in the very end. He said it from the 1st day of classes that the Final would be cumulative & he kept repeating it the last month before the final. Students just dont listen. The key to doing well is to do the HW which is also part of ur grade & pay attention in class.
I like him. I dont think he is the worst prof. He is a funny and gentle man. His HW and sample exam are so helpful to get good grade. He dont take attendance but you should go to class. His final is cumulative.
I agree with the previous comment. The professor is nice, attendance is not mandatory. HW and practice exams were very helpful.
worst prof at baruch for accounting, first mid term and final were easy, but the 2nd mid term was hard, unorganized and confused. he is not even able to answer the generel acct rules. if he does answer you he will change his point of view 10 times and finally he would say that he is not sure...
NOT A BAD PROFESSOR. HE GIVES EXAMPLES IN CLASS. DO THE HW AND YOU SHOULD DO FINE. HIS PRACTICE EXAMS ARE NOTHING LIKE THE REAL ONES, BUT HE CURVES. 2 MT, FINAL AND HW. NOT THE EASIEST CLASS, BUT PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT HE SAYS. NOT AN EASY GRADER, BUT YOU WILL LEARN FINANCE. GOT A B-
His tests are just like his practice exams with a few changes with the numbers. Do the homework it helps. He is very disorganized. Print out the slides right before class because he usually has mistakes on his slides that he posts early. just keep doing the practice exams and homeworks
HE IS NOT EASY AT ALL. HE MAKES A LOT OF MISTAKES ON THE SLIDES AND CONFUSES YOU. THE WORST PROF I'VE EVER HAD. HW ARE NOTHING LIKE THE EXAMS...I FEEL BAD FOR HIM, BUT I THINK HE SHOULD RETIRE ALREADY.
It's time to retire for him. unclear & disorganized. makes many mistakes on his slides. cannot control class. gives curves, but it won't help you much. Not approachable after class, doesn't even have his office hours listed on syllabus. Avoid taking him if you can. I took him only because everything else was closed.
This class is extremely easyyyy. Just do the review sheets and read the book easy A. Most people be complainin because they dont read and expect a good grade. Read and its an easy A
I was so frustrated in his class. it is as if he doesn't know accounting at all when he is teaching. I don't think he is using his own slides either, almost every single slide has a mistake on it. Highly disorganized. Just read the book and take the exams. You are basically on your own, when taking this class..
Doesn't respect students at all. Doesn't teach at all. Must go to class, attendance taken every class. Doesn't go over homework/exam, even everything is cumulative.Doesn't give a clear grade policy, "all by his own wish" Don't take him if you want to survive with Accting major.
To describe Lustgarten, I would say he is Incompetent in the subject, Careless towards students and Inapproachable and Lazy. Good luck, you will need it!!!
He doesn't really know how to teach but the slides are very useful. You don't really need to read the book at all for exams. You just need to go through all the slides and make sure you understand all the examples, and do the practice exams..and you will get an A
3 exams, 1 group presentation and hw
Teaching sucks, very confusing.Slides his using isn't his-many mistake. Doesn't go over hw&exams-Final exam's cumulative.Boring.One of the worst class I ever had in Baruch, I only register for his class because I need to take the class and other classes were. Here's my 7 reason not to take him...also, his class's like a torture chamber.
One of the worst prof I've ever encountered. He has no idea what he's teaching, doesn't know how to teach it, and can't even answer half of his own questions without getting it wrong. Tests are very hard and *most likely* based on the wrong answer key. He doesn't go over tests, so you'll never know what you (Or the prof) got wrong. Do not take!
One of the worst professors ever. His class was the first one i ever had to drop at baruch. His tests are from 2004 and his notes are full of errors and typos. He never goes over anything and his homeworks are basically impossible. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!! He puts you to sleep and he's useless. He called a girl in our class Ms.****o. seriously avoid
He's not that bad. If you don't understand him, he will stay after and explain..or just e-mail. His slides have many mistakes but are useful. He is not that great overall, but, compared to other accounting professors this guy is way better. Just study and you will not have a problem.
This guy is VERY disorganized. His exams /slides/HW are all full of mistakes. He often gets lost while he is teaching. His grading system sucks! If you actually want to learn finance I suggest you take someone else as his class is boring and will make you fall asleep.
boringggggggkeep away if you can
meh, doesn't really teach well and his exams are hard. make sure you do the practice questions
He is a lot better than many say. Do the homework and the practice exams and you can get a good grade. If you need it, he will help you after class or via email.
THIS PROF. SUCKS, STAY AWAY if u don't want to ruin GPA.He doesn't teach well, disorganized, tests r hard even when u study, never responds to your email, many mistakes on class slides. Can't even answer students quest. sometimes.Tests are way harder than practice exams.Grades comprise of one presentation,2 exams, final, partcipation & hw.
He is a good professor, better than some of the other accouting professors, attend class and you'll understand better but it is not required, he is very flexible with grades, and exam scores are curved.
His lecture is not helpful. He just read from the slides and not so interesting. However, if you study the slides it is very helpful. You will understand every materials. The tests are not that hard compared to other professors. If you can solve 10~20times for practice exam, you will do fine. It is very similar to prac exam and questions from slide
He is nice as a person and tries hard for people to understand. On the other hand after taking his first test you will understand why this guy has so many bad comments. His slides are full if mistakes and questions are very different from hw. You can get a decent grade but avoid him if you want to get an A.
This prof is ok. He tries hard to help students understand the material. Do the homework and the pratice exams and its easy to get a good grade.
Seriously, please never ever take this professor! I learnt NOTHING when I took my FIN class. His slides useless and unclear and full of mistakes! The midterms are totally different from the hw. He NEVER responds his emails and he does not care about you at all! Definitely the worse professor for FIN!
This professor is totally unqualified! Does not know how to teach, slides full of mistakes, never can answer a question in class, never responds to emails, exam questions are out of nowhere, not representative of the material from the textbook and homework at all! It's more productive to study by yourself than attend his lectures.
Don't take this teacher if you can avoid him. His slides have a ton of mistakes and he just reads straight off of the wrong slides. When you have a question for him, he stares blankly at the powerpoint. You'll be lucky if you get an answer! He also doesn't answer his e-mails. Plan on teaching yourself the course!!!
well.. I really feel the duty for you to rate this guy. stay away from him, if u can. I wish to drop or withdraw now, but i can't..... his slides are full of mistake. for example, i asked him about hw questions cuz it was very difficult and he didn't even understand hw questions that he put up.... what a guy!
OMG this guy is completely senial I read the comments before taking him I had no choice his class was the only class left. Now i regret it I rather postpone my finance class till next semester than to take his class. He makes unlimited mistakes, never review the hw. The exam reviews are so easy then the exam is a curve ball thrown into your face.
He just sucks! i really warn you guys to stay away from his class! his slides are full of mistakes, and he doesn't explain homework problem that he posted before! in addition, his homework has a wrong number on that. only good part is that the exam is very similar to the practice exam he posts before the exam. that's it..
Boring!Try to pay attention to class and study from the slides and practice exam. No need to read the book, except with you are gonna do the homework but not for the exams. He teachs different from the book.
He isn't the best, by far. I never opened the book, there were two middies and one final. I pulled off an A-. Just pay attention to the slides
I beg you please stay away. He is good for nothing. Test u on MCQ but gives u large problems for home works. He has stupid clickers in the class, doesn't matter u understand or not, u've to answer. If you choose the clickers u certainly get the bad grade in 10%.
he is very helpful and patient. test are multiple choice, ppl who underate him r the ones who expect prof to tell them everything, this is college! of coz u gotta study. all my friends and i have good grade so far, and we felt lucky that we didnt switch class like we planned at first.
Really Easy Class. Just show up, do your hw. Tests are multiple choice, on infant level. Truth is, Professor Lustgarten is a special man
His exams are extremely hard...Gives a review sheet but it's nothing like the exam(way more difficult). Never opened the textbook. Has nasty sarcasm. Class is boring and useless since he just goes over slides. Do not take him if you really want to learn about finance.
If u plan to be in accounting field, if u worry about ur future, and if u love accounting, PLEASE DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS, U WILL NOT LEARN ANYTHING, U MIGHT DO OK IN CLASS AND TEST, IF U REALLY STUDY HARD, BUT I GUARANTEE U THAT AFTER FINISHING THIS CLASS, U WILL REALIZE U HAVE LEARNED NOTHING. SO, THINK Thousand times, before joining his class.
The Worst Class Ever! The homework and book are completely useless because he doesn't teach from them, instead he uses his own slides which are full of mistakes and most of the time, he doesn't even know he got the answer on the slides. This was by far the most confusing and just plain awful class I have taken. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
OMG... i AM CRYING RIGHT NOW.... DONT TAKE HIM... HE DOES NOT TEACH ANYTHING. HIS SLIDES HAVE FULL OF ERRORS AND HE SKIPS MANY IMPORTANT THINGS. ONLINE HW, SLIDES PROBLEMS, REVIEW EXAM AND TEXTBOOK ARE ALL USELESS. I am taking this class right now. More than 20% dropped this class after the midterms.. Dont pick him...
hes funny in an awkward way, has 2 mids and final, gave a review sheet that was useless, pp slides with ton of mistakes, goes through slides and doesnt matter if you understood the slides, has clicker questions during class, hes not the worst, but look elsewhere first, if hes your last option then hes fine. Also their is a final presentation.
Practice exam questions are nothing like what will be on exams. Exams are much harder on more complex problems. Avoid if possible. Many mistakes on his powerpoints and practice exams.
He isn't as bad as other people said. Yes, he made some mistakes on slides but absolutely not tons of them. He's willing to answer questions and make sure you understand it. I think those people who said he went through slides quickly whether you understand or not are those who didn't even ask him questions. He's reasonable. Don't be scared away.
Worst Prof. ever.. Slides are useless, there are always mistakes plus they are simple questions. Practice tests are also useless. 70% of questions on tests are questions you will never see before. HW is not mandatory, but do it. Even tho he is always last prof left i advise you to wait for another time to take Finance. DO NOT TAKE! You will regret.
This prof is a simple man, but HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND. what's the point of teaching if you cant make people understand? he is always confused himself. when you ask him a question, the probability of getting a right answer is almost Zero! I advise you to avoid him at any cost, unles he is the last option.
You are on your own by taking this professor. I literally go to the library to study instead of going to class. If he is your only option, study the practice exams many times if you want to do well. Otherwise, be ready to teach yourself everything.
Professor Lustgarten is awesome! He really cares about the students who make an effort. Pay close attention to his slides, DO PROBLEMS (YOU MUST PRACTICE BEFORE YOU TAKE THE EXAMS), listen to the lecture and actually participate in class, clicker questions, do the HW, and the group presentation. Definitely take FIN 3000 BEFORE you take ACC 3100.
If you want to be accounting major and learn something. AVOID HIM AT ALL COST. READS FROM THE POWERPOINT. Clicker in the class was a joke. It seems like a race. He will not only ruin your GPA, your intention to learn some accounting, but you may have to switch major
An A is possible. Pretty good at curving grades. People got 78 and 80s on the final came out with an A in the course because the average was low. But if you expect to learn from him, go elsewhere. He's bad at explaining stuff, moves fast but hes fair with exams and curves nicely. Dont use the textbook. ONLY use his ppt slides, they are great.
he asks if anybody has questions but when some student asks a question, he seems very impatient with the question and the student. Not very good at explaining his own slides. Goes super fast at the same time inefficient. Dont know what he is rush for.
Make sure you study his notes, lectures, and sample tests, and you'll do well.
If you study his PowerPoint slides and practice exams, you'll be more than safe. However, having to be in his lectures for an entire semester was extremely jarring. You want a professor who is very proficient in describing advanced concepts; and Lustgarten just isn't the ideal. Manageable but not recommended.
No departmental exams, but his exams are about as tough as them. The lectures aren't nearly enough to do well. Fortunately he gives test banks to the class that are very relevant to the exams. Hw isn't mandatory, but nearly all the students who got A's did do them. A financial calculator is mandatory for his class.
Lustgarten is the most unprepared, unclear and unprofessional MBA professor I had while at Baruch College. His slides are copied from the textbook and he acts like every student has vast experience with a financial calculator. No flexibility in a formula sheet for exams and no recognition that most students work full time. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS CLASS
For the love of God and all that is holy, avoid this professor unless you have prior experience with 3100 and you really fully understand intermediate acc bfore hand. he does not care about his students and his lectures are horrible. the tests are difficult. 2 mts and a final.
If you have prior experience with 3100 and you don't really care on learning, take this professor. He is unorganized, lectures are boring, and I had no idea what I was doing. I handed in my final blank and he didn't look at me and waived his hand goodbye which is very rude!
I honestly don't think he's as bad as everyone on here makes him out to be. If you read his slides carefully and do the practice exams, you'll be fine. He's pretty good at curving. 16/23 correct was an A. Don't be intimidated, try to sit in the front so you can pay attention. Print out slides and read them and do the clicker questions BEFORE class.
This guy is ancient. His powerpoints are all messed up and what he says isn't too coherent. HWs are useless, he takes a year to respond to emails. You'll prolly do poorly on his tests if you don't have the testbank. Having that and being an accounting major makes your life a little easier, it's still a challenge regardless. Avoid him if you can
3 tests (2 midterms, 1 cumulative final) count for 90% of your grade and each test covers at least 100 pages of textbook material. No formula sheets are provided, and all lectures involve slides difficult to follow. I do not recommend if you are currently working full-time as the workload may require taking days off to pass.
If this is your second time taking 3100, you will probably have an easier time of it than if it is your first. I took Levy and opted for an 'F' then took Lustgarten and got a 'B.' I would only recommend taking him if it's your second time around and you have some knowledge of the subject. Do his powerpoint problems before coming to class.
delay all homework of Connect, open the chapter one by one, explain the behind logic with little sense, read the ppt, but errors here and there, even no correct answer among ABCD, so far using 4 class time to cover chapter14 after already deleted some pages---while next door prof only uses one class to finish chap14. do not even dream get extra cr
I think he means well but he is isnt effective. Each chapter takes days to go through. HE doesnt give you all the slides at once. He breaks them down and they arent available until 11:30 p.m. the night before class. Half the slides have mistakes. MIDTERMS and FINAL ARE INSANE. Dont expect much in terms of a curve either.
There is no such a easy accounting class, everything you need to do is study by yourself. This professor is more lenient, do all of your homework, doing well in 3 exams you will be fine. He curves (although I don't know how his grading works) but study hard you will be fine. AND be ready for the MC answer of (NONE OF ABOVE ) in the exam.
Hes not as bad as the reviews here make him out to be. He provides practice exams which I dont expect at the MBA level. Much of the lecture is spent asking you to solve problems (a question for you) which is helpful. I found his personality fun & endearing. He is seasoned in teaching this class & does want students to succeed. Exams are curved.
He is one of the worst professor I have seen in Baruch. His final that I took yesterday was extremely bad. He does not curve usually but this final has to be curved to let anyone pass. I have no idea what I am gonna do if he does not curve. his lecture slides are all rubbish, too easy to solve but exams are way harder than slides.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. This professor constantly berates students, has no interest in teaching, does not respond to emails, and does not communicate clearly. His class is incredibly difficult and does not try to explain or teach concepts. Wait until the following semester and hope there is someone else teaching.
People will complain, but it's because they either didn't do the hws or the practice questions. If you do those things, you'll be fine. His teaching style is a little dry, but he provides more than enough examples and practice.
Not very accessible outside class - takes days until you hear back. Not the most friendly type of professor. The exam is tough, you need to make a lot of efforts. The contents are useful and will be the basis of other finance classes, but his powerpoints and class materials are pretty messy in format. The textbook is expensive but helpful.
Professor Lustgarten goes through the material way too fast and does not clearly go over concepts. When you ask a question he tells you to refer to the textbook. You will not learn anything from him; have to learn it all on your own. Gives a moderate amount of homework with reasonable due dates.
In four years of undergrad and now 1.5 years of post-grad I've never had a teacher worse that Professor Lustgarten. He refuses to communicate exam dates until a week before the test. He zoom cuts out for 15 minutes almost every class. Advice for Prof Lustgarten: clearly articulate expectations for the class on syllabus (when things are due).
Lustgarten is nice man but his Finance class has been one of the worst education experiences of my life. Material is sped through rapidly with no connections between topics. Exam dates are announced with a week's notice. I've had to spend an 6-8 hours weekly to teach myself concepts, thanks to poor teaching. A disaster from start to finish.
