I highly recommend taking Hammer's class. :) It's not super easy, but you will do well if you study. Almost everyone passes the test and final. You get the grade you earn and he is a very fair professor. This was my favorite class, by far, all semester. :)
mr hammer is a great teacher and he really knows his stuff and does not mind helping you at all!!! the class is not easy but if you study you are sure to get an "A"
mr.hammer is nice dont get me wrong...BUT..he is not an easy A.......NO DROP GRADE FOR LAB...AND HIS LECTURE......HE JUST READ OFF POWER POINTS...AND THE TEST HAVE NTN TO DO WITH THE POWER POINT..SO DISECT THE BOOK...TAKE MEGAW....
hammer is an awesome teacher. if you go to lab and study the models, you will get an A
Dr. Hammer is awesome, he loves what he does and it shows. He loves to help and has a wonderful attitude. I wish all teachers could be this happy...If he was ever having a bad day you couldn't tell...Thank you Dr. Hammer, wish you were going to be my teacher for everything!
mr.hammer was a very nice teacher...gives extra credit jus for drawing pics...and has extra credit questions on test..you must study the models tho..i would highly recommend......loved this class got an (A)...WILL BE TAKIN AP2 WITH HIM AS WELL
AMAZING TEACHER!!! took him for A&P lab and got an A+!!! He really loves what he does and has a funny sense of humor about things! i had to re-take this class because the first time i took it the teacher was horrible, i was SOO relieved to have found Dr. Hammer!!! will be taking him again!!!!!!! highly recommended! DO THE HW AND DRAWLINGS!!!
I took his Lab for a+p 1 lab! Really nice guy, very helpful! If u study ull do well ... just don't wait till the last second! Do the extra credit! Over all I really enjoyed this class ... and i am by no means a straight A student ... but my lowest practical grade was a 91 and highest 107!!! TAKE HIM =D
I took him for A n P lab and it was super easy. The first Exam is REALLY hard, i got a %51 on it. But the other three are really easy and passed the class with a 87%. He gives extra credit for drawing pictures and 10% of the grade is homework! I will for sure be taking him again!
all i have to say is that he is great for lab..but terrible in lecture
I had Prof. Hammer for A&P II lab. He is a great teacher. Loves what he does and really really wants his students to learn and do well! He is hands on and will help with anything you need help with. I am so gratefull to have had him for a teacher. Just study, know your material and there is NO reason not to get an A in his class.
Excellent Professor of A/P 2 lab...Loves his work, and it shows...He cares, he cares.
great lab instructor. if you study, you should get an A
Had him for lab...he was great. Tests are not tricky, either you know it or you don't. Gives extra credit on tests. Makes class tolerable.
TAKE HIM!!! He is by far the best teacher I have taken in two years. He is a teacher who in all honesty, cares whether his students pass his class. He is willing to help any student, all you have to do is ask. I would highly recommend him.
He is an awesome teacher! Gives review packet that covers all material that will be on lab tests, and posts test reviews for lecture online. Always gives extra credit. He loves what he does, and he really knows his stuff. Also has a great sense of humor, so don't worry about him being a boring teacher.
Mr. Hammer is a good prof. and a nice guy. but he tends to fall behind track by telling personal stories instead of actually teaching. Than expects you to know everything by the test date. Is willing to help w/ any question you have, but just a warning...be prepared to be talked to death.
TAKE HIM! Very helpful. We dissected a cat & I was pretty nervous about it at first but I ended up loving the class. It was so interesting. Got an A in his lab. You will no doubt get at least a B.
Mr. Hammer is awesome!! He gives you a study packet and tells you exactly what you need to know.. He also gives extra credit for each test and its super easy..If you study you will definitely get an A!!!!!Take him..it's worth it!
Take him for A&P lab! Had him for A&P 2 lab and he is one of the best profs out there! He is helpful, tells you what you need to know for the exam, and also adds a clinical perspective to the class. I learned a lot! He's also funny and friendly.
highley recremended
AP2 LAB. IRSC SOMEHOW HAS RECRUITED THE BEST OF THE BEST FOR THEIR SCIENCE DEPT! DR HAMMER IS AWESOME. THE CLASS IS HARD BUT DR HAMMER MAKES IT FUN AND INTERESTING. GOOD LECTURES SUPER HELPFUL. WITH YOU ALL THE WAY. STRICT BUT FAIR. TAKE HIM FOR SURE.
Great professor, will help you when needed, try to make class funny and interested
AWESOME TEACHER!!! If you study, easy A!!
He is an awesome teacher, he make you want to attend class. Also, he has great stories and is very hot! The only was you could not get an A in this class is if you actually tried not to. TAKE HIM!
Awesome!!!!
This teacher is wonderful. If you pay attention and take notes you will do well.
Awesome teacher!! very helpful, lectures are interesting, funny and usually short. Take him!
This Guy is awsome. He has alot of pictures and notes for you to look at.All you have to do learn and memorize.
Dr. Hammer is one of the top LAB professors at IRSC. I recommend him to anyone who wants to pass with an A. It's just powerpoints, pictures, and memorizing. He cuts to the point and is very HELPFUL. He has a dry sense of humor. . . i enjoyed his class.
I was dreading taking A&P lab I. BUT, thank god I was in Dr. Hammers class. He was straight forward about what he expected in class, super friendly, and wants you to pass. GO to class, take the notes when hes talking. THe exams were strict memorization from the study guide.Honestly, the best teacher. Im taking him for A&P2 lab.
This guy good. Very straight foward on what will be on the tests and how they will be worded out. Laid back kinda guy. Great Prof.
Awesome teacher! I took him for both ap 1 and 2 and pass..I recommend him if you want to pass.He is super easy and give you extra credit. There is no way to fail.
Dr Hammer gets to the point! AP2 lab was fun thanks to him. His test are straight forward and he goes over exactly what you need to know. Funny teacher and even funnier shoes. Materiel is mostly memorization, so just do a little every week, and you'll make the A. And this is coming from a slacker
Prof. Hammer is energetic and knowledgeable. Attend class & take notes. You will use your book. Do your homework. Also, using his practice test that he created online helped alot. You can fail the first test which happens to some students and still pass the class. The final is worth 2 grades. Just study hard & do not procrastinate & you will be ok.
Not that great as everyone makes him out to be. He talks very confusing so its hard to understand what he means, his first test had lots of curveballs. Just be careful when taking him btw i got a B in thr class
This professor is amazing! He makes the class fun. Clear about EVERYTHING that will be on the test. I passed this class with 100.8 no joke. If you can't pass this class with an A, the problem is you :)
He Knows the materials, but he seems he enjoyed the curveballs questions to trap you. There is no study guide you are in your own ,use other website for help. Even though he is nice talker, I will not advise any students to pick him for Lecture. Remember there is no guidance ... He doesn't care if the class average is C.
I absolutely loved Dr. Hammer. He's very helpful and also wants you to learn. Also makes the class fun. I would really advise to take him.
Let me start by saying you are better of teaching yourself and reading the book, ooh and Youtube. He is useless. no Guide on anything. His lectures are useless. Sometime I thought some of the other students were smarter than he is.When he cant answer a question he goes around it.He throw so much curve balls. he cant keep up with them. :(
Do not take if you wanna do good. He is very hard and not very helpful.
To start, this is a super hard class. At this point we are covering things we probably have not had to in the past. Prof. Hammer is a good instructor. His tests are not easy but if you study & rephrase ques you have a better chance at doing really good. Spoke w/him last wk. He was very helpful & encouraging. He wants us all to pass as much as we do
This was the hardest class I ever took, but it was worth it. You have to STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. I failed the first 3 test. Passed last 3, did online homework and quizzes, got some extra credit passed class with a B. Its hard but you can do it. If you need help ask him.
Def the HARDEST class I have taken so far. Tests are SUPER random and hard. He says this will be on the test, when reading the powerpoints, and it is NOT. Uses powerpoints to teach and tells running stories A LOT. Not sure how to get better than a C on his tests. Thankfully he gave extra credit or I would've gotten a C. DEFINITELY DON'T RECOMMEND!
Don't trust his rateing, he writes his own postitve reviews. Worst teacher I ever had.
I understood everything he taught, but he has a way of asking questions you didnt study for. I never got above a 78 on his tests, but thanks to the extra credit I finished with a solid B. Makes material relatable through stories as a paramedic or distance runner.
This man's voice is enough to put you to sleep. No actual lessons just him, powerpoint, and every lecture would trail off to something completely unrelated to the human body. If you actually want to learn, I suggest a different professor.
This man is hopefully being paid very little, because that is how much effort he puts forth. All work is done on a program you need to purchase, he never lectures, you wonder why he is involved at all. This guy phones it in, avoid him if you need an actual teacher.
He diffidently writes his own positives. D0 not take this class on line. Out of 50 questions on each test at least 10 is nowhere to be found in text book or PowerPoint he provides. He is rude and obnoxious in person. This it is funny you have to suffer in his class if you are not in RN or Paramedic program.
Wonderful instructor!! Willing to help students as needed. Always looking out for best interests! Great teacher!
Dr. Hammer was always willing to help out even though I took it online. It was a great class and fairly easy. You DEFINITLY have to read the book. No matter how good a teacher is in this class you have to read the book. Over all, Dr. Hammer was great!!!!
You have to be willing to put time and effort into the work and studying. And be willing to comprehend information, not just think you can memorize information. If your having trouble he will help,he did set up dates for us to meet up as a class and review anything, unfortunately very few toke advantage of this, it was very helpful.
Being that it's an online class you have to be willing to put a great amount of time into studying, doing the work, comprehending the material, not try to just remember material. He did set up class meetings to try and help, but unfortunately very few toke advantage of this, which was helpful. He's not set out to fail, set out to see you succeed.
Unless you're required to take his class for your degree, I wouldn't suggest taking it. He takes a week to respond to email, and even then he gives little information and often just replies with Youtube links. In class he doesn't actually lecture but rather just reads off a powerpoint and tells long stories that aren't related to the course.
He is a great teacher. The class can be very hard if you don't pay attention to his lectures and/or study. I never opened the book. I would just record his lectures with my phone, and listened to them when I had time.
An online teacher who knows the material and actually teaches. Work hard and you'll do well. No patience for slackers.
Very relaxed, knowledeable. I had A&P 2 lab, so we got messy. He was very hands on, great in our brief lectures. Always answered questions. Dr Hammer did a great job prepping his class for exams.
He rambles on in lecture about his life stories that have nothing to do with the topic. Doesn't believe in study guides or extra credit. He assumes everyone already knows the majority of what he's talking about so it goes through it very quickly with little detail. Unless you're very well educated in biology, I wouldn't recommend taking him for A&P
He's a great professor Gives personal examples from each lesson he's teaching which makes the class in my opinion more interesting and less monotonous Also he's pretty funny His tests are a bit tough because his wording is tricky but i loved his class over all
I took Mr. Hammer for BCS2093 and I loved him, I have signed up for BSC2094 this semester. He is a tough grader, be prepared to study hard. He will review all test materials before test so be prepared to come to class or you will miss out. Sometimes he tells the funniest stories, definitely not a boring class.
I am very surprised Dr. Hammer has this many outstanding reviews. In A&P Lab he has barely taught us anything at all. He just has us come to class, talks for about 15-30 minutes and then says alright that's it. He doesn't have any student interaction and talks to us like we're a special education course. I have basically taught myself this course.
Teacher was up front about the extent of the coursework. That was a warning. The work during the short summer is an overload. I started ahead and still ended up falling behind. He was helpfulgave feedback throughout the entire course. Assistance was available majority of the time. Without the instructor's help I wouldn't have passed.
Dr. Hammer is passionate about the subject. He goes over in class everything that's on the test, you just have to pay attention. He wants students to succeed so he gives you every opportunity to learn the material. Test are tough, you MUST study. Anatomy is NOT a "fluffy" class!
Dr. Hammer is very knowledgeable in AP2. I had him for the Lecture and the Lab. Relates a lot of the human body to long distance running. (He is a runner and he does running research). Pay attention, take notes and you will pass.
Tests are very tough, read the book as much as the notes and also go over A&P I notes. There are no study guides and a lot of the questions are overall knowledge questions, better have a strong background in biology!!! Code is needed for connect homework, which counts for a chunk of the grade. I am surprised this teacher is so highly rated.
Test are challenging but what anatomy lab practicals aren't. Bottom line I like his style of teaching and would take him again. Lab manual is a great tool
Hammer is awesome! His teaching is very unique and he is willing to help you get the grade you desire! You do have to work for your grade, but that's in every class. There is a workbook with labeling in the class but it helps you on your test! He is very personable and will explain things in an understandable way. GREAT PROFESSOR. Taking him again!
In order to pass this class, you will need to study. It requires long hours besides class time so if you think that you can just show up in class to grasp the information you are wrong. The test material is clear and is actually pretty easy if you study and get a good idea of it. If you don't it will seem very difficult. Put the time and effort in!
This class was absolutely wonderful! The material can be challenging, but if you study it should be easy. He is very clear on what you need to know, and will also make the material more interesting with his own personal stories or bits of knowledge. This class is very fun if you put in the effort to actually do well in the class.
He got off topic a lot during lectures so you'll be spending most of the class period most weeks. Tests were straightforward and were on the material from the lab book. He's good at breaking down the material. I would recommend studying a little bit every day because leaving it all until a few days before the test won't work.
If you can teach yourself take this class. Assigned extra work at the beginning of the class and the 40 discussion posts that were a part of our grade we were told at the end of class wouldn't count either because it wasn't what he was looking for. 6 exams, 20 chapters of homework discussion post for each with response. All done through connect.
Dr. Hammer is an amazing instructor! He sincerely cares about his students. Tests are difficult, but he thoroughly goes over them after each exam and gives you an opportunity to receive extra points. He relates a lot of his lectures to everyday life and his experiences as a EMT, which allows you to grasp the concept. Would totally take him again!
Hammer is a great professor. Don't get ne wrong the class is tough. He brings a lot of real experiences into the classroom. He makes sure you understand the topic. He gives you every opportunity possible to keep your grades up. I can't wait ti take A&P 2 with him. He has already warned us its tough, but Im still excited.
Dr. Hammer is the best anatomy teacher ever. I am going to try to get him for A&P2 as well. He has years of real world experience so he really knows how to explain things so you can remember them. He also lets you know exactly what is going to be on his tests. His lectures are enjoyable because he is hilarious and makes learning fun!
Expects you to already know the material. He doesn't provide a study guide which makes it difficult to study. The connect homework is a must but it's not even helpful. He goes off topic a lot and talks about his love of running. Would not take this instructor again..
He does not teach, he just talks. Most of the time he talks about his life and his running stories that have nothing to do with the subject we are on. He does not follow the book, if you read the book it will not help you pass his test. He is the worse professor I have ever had. Do not take him or you will regret it.
I took Dr. Hammer for AP2 lecture and lab and there is no doubt that those are TOUGH courses; however, he is incredibly knowledgeable and has decades of real life experience. His tests are by no means easy but lectures are enjoyable. STUDY STUDY STUDY. He really cares about his students and welcomes curiosity and a willingness to learn.
Overall bad professor. He doesn't care about you or your grade. Very unhelpful.. didn't enjoy this class at all, and I absolutely love anatomy.. Doesn't prepare you for the exams, & there were only 2!!! No extra credit, and he answers questions with "figure it out"
I really appreciate Dr. Hammers style of instructing. He is very knowledgeable and helps his students to apply what they learn to real life circumstances. I am taking him again, but for BSC2094.
DR. Hammer is a great professor he will work with you to help you get the grade you desire! The ONLY way you should get a C in his class is if you don't complete your homework!
I took him ap lab this summer. He was AWESOME! I really looked forward to his class and he made things very fun with his great sense of humor. He makes things pretty relatable. He will help you if you ask but the work is pretty straightforward. I ended the semester with an A. Just be prepared to study (no brainer).. Id deff take him again
He is very knowledgeable and teaches practical concepts. Although his tests are tough, he makes you study to fully comprehend everything.
STEVEN HAMMER does not care about you or your grade at all. He legit told us that the first day, he will give last min. assignments and expect you to learn six chapters in one class. He is sarcastic and cocky and always gets off topic about his ex wife and his obsession with running. THE WORST.
Dr. Hammer is the BEST teacher. Had him for AP1 and will have him for AP 2 lab. He cares about his students and is accessible outside of class. Ap is hard, but hes probably one of the easiest teachers. He gives you everything you need to succeed. He will also help with whatever you need as long as you EMAIL him!!
He's a good person, jokes throughout lectures (dry humor). He states that the textbook is not needed because he uses the power points . When it comes to test he doesn't guide you on what you need to know. Expects you to know the material. Doesn't give extra credit, however gives 4 exams, 2 take home, and a final.
Dr. Hammer does not teach much. He expects you to know everything. He was funny, but does not care about you or your grade. He told us to study 200 questions for our final exam that would help us greatly on the test and only 3 of those 200 were there. He will not guide you on what to study at all for exams.
He didn't really explain much in the lab class. just briefly went over and left the rest for us to figure out.
Took survey of the human body online, class wasn't hard but it was confusing at first. He didn't really interact with us, meaning there wasn't set due dates you could finish assignments by the end of the semester. Connect was mostly used.
This was not the class for me. There was so much work online and the tests were hard. Not the professor's fault though. He seemed like a good guy.
He is very knowledgeable & honest about what he knows & honest about what he doesn't- not a bs kind of instructor. Beyond his hilariously dry humor, he still teaches w/t a sense of enjoyment for the material. He gives you plenty of class time for lab and assist w/t out insult, belittling or sarcasm. Make an effort an effort, you'll do well.
I also dont know how this prof gets any good reviews, he could care less about you or your grade, would not take again
Pros: Interesting Lectures (EX. alcoholic hamsters) Cons: NO STUDY GUIDES Homework not on tests Jumps subject to subject during lecture Sorta Judgmental And yes, Anatomy is a very hard subject to learn but especially if you are going into Nursing where this class grade matters take someone else.
I understood the material, but tests were nothing like he lectured about in class. Its true all he talks about is running. Not a good professor and doesn't care if you pass or not. Tests were very hard and he's very rude. Do not recommend. I will not take him for BSC2094.
Study the lab book, and also get the recommended books in the syllabus. Dr. Hammer will let you know what will and will not be on the test. Try to look at the lab book before class.
Dr. Hammer is clear about what will and will not be on the practials. AP2L is comprised of 2 practicals and two homeworks. Study the lab book and the online resources he provides you. He doesn't care if you show up or not, mostly just there to explain how to do the lab assignment and answer any questions.
The class itself was not bad. As long as you pay attention, show up to class and put in the effort you should pass this class. Dr. Hammer has a dry sense of humor and can seem tough but he is nice and always willing to help his students understand the material. There were two exams, two hw assignments and extra credit. Overall a good instructor!
Anatomy is a complex and difficult subject but Dr. Hammer is a very knowledgeable and straightforward instructor. He teaches students how to piece together all of the concepts to better understand the material. He is nice and always willing to help and answer any questions. Work hard and show up to class and you'll do great.
This is not necessarily an easy A but if you do the work and actually try you will get an A. He is more concerned about you learning than being a tough grader. 10/10 would recommend. I thought this would be my most stressful class of the semester but ended up being the most enjoyable. There are definitely worse online teachers.
Overall he's an amazing teacher for lab but for lecture not so much. We recieved not one single study nor outline, to steer us in the right direction for test.
Dr. Hammer is a really good professor. Yeah, he doesn't give study guides or outlines but he tells you exactly what you need to study for the test, it is up to you to put in the work. His sense of humor isn't for everyone but I thought he was funny. He relates lecture material to everyday life so it's easier to understand. Overall good prof.
Better for lab than lecture. 3 tests and extra credit available. No study guides. Lab book has most of the material needed but you need to obsessively a study and thoroughly understand everything to get anything on the tests.
I took him during the summer for the fast track course. His class was very interesting but if you didn't give any effort, then you won't pass. I would recommend staying ahead on material and use his classes as refreshers. (learn most material needed for that week before class). If I can do it in 6 weeks, you can too!
Professor Hammer taught like we were already supposed to know the material. I took AP 1 and he expected us to have 30 years of medical professional experience like he has. When I emailed him he was harsh and unwilling to help me out. He blew through the power points and the tests were more difficult than the power points were.
Took it online summer course, I was able to pass because I did great on the Lab and Homework. The exams were tough but I was able to get a B with staying on top of Homework and Labs.
I took Dr. Hammer for AP1 + 2 labs and honestly he is a really good professor. He definitely makes you work hard for your grade but there are no tricks on his tests and everything correlates. He provides all the content you need to be successful. I have no actual complaints.
If I could rate zero I can honestly say I would. I got kicked out of an honor lock exam and my computer completely shut me out. I emailed him three times and he never responded then proceeded to give me a 17 out of 100 on the midterm exam which led to a 68 point drop in total grade. I can confidently say that he is the worst teacher I've had.
Professor Hammer was very informative on what to do to pass this class. Everything was very user-friendly and he set it up the class for success. I took him in the summer and felt the speed of the work and assignment was just right. As long as you do the work you will pass his class.
He is not a bad guy he just talks and its very hard to follow. He is very funny but for my particular learning style he was not you basically teach yourself.
His lectures are great, I found them very entertaining, and I loved that he relates his own experiences (emt/running) to whatever we're learning about (and if you pay attn, it does relate). Definitely not an easy A. Do the review questions on each textbook page to help study. If you complete all the work and study, you should pass the class.
Professor Hammer is a very intelligent teacher. He seems like he has lived so many lives from being an EMT to working in Belize (I think...) in a remote clinic! He relates the content to his personal life and gives valuable examples that help students understand. The class itself wasn't insanely difficult. Then again, I love anatomy and physiology
Although Mr.Hammer seems like a really chill guy and talking to him was nice, he rushes too much on the course material. He acts like you should already know his 30+ years of knowledge on the human body. He also once put trick questions in our final exam??? Idk. Gave good resources, but honestly if you wanna pass his class, I would say study ahead.
I had Dr. Hammer for both my AP1 and AP2 lecture, and both were great! Lots of homework, but super easy to keep up with if you stay determined. He also has no issue pushing back assignment dates which was really appreciated. I loved the case study concept and thought it benefited me well. He's also super sweet and his lectures are entertaining!
