I started this class in early August thinking it was going to be a very long semester. However, Dr Hegemann really grew on me. He does have a very monotone voice making lectures difficult, but he has a great sense of humor and is more than happy to help any student understand the concepts. I would defiantly take him again!
I enjoyed Hegemann's class. If you show up (which is mandatory), take good notes, and do the homework you will have no problems getting an A in this class. There is so many practice opportunities and reviews before tests that you will know what to expect. He is also hilarious and really wants his students to understand the concepts.
Unfortunately, you have to take Hegemann's accounting 201 class if you want to be a business major, but be aware, despite showing up every day as I did, if you send 1 text during class, he'll mark you absent. His lectures only go over what the homework was, so it's pointless to be there and his monotone voice puts you to sleep. Awful experience.
Good professor. Genuinely wants students to understand course material. His tests are easy enough, but the Connect homework is very tedious.
Hegemann is a great guy and is happy to help anyone that asks. He has a lot of real world experience and gives valuable advice. While the homework is long and tedious, it really helps you understand the material. The tests are easy enough if you pay attention in class. I would definitely recommend him.
He is a good person but you would have lots of homework and the tests are tricky and uneasy.
He is the worst professor I have ever had. His lectures are boring and monotoned which doesn't help at all because accounting is a hard subject. I would highly recommend taking accounting with another professor if there is one.
Hegemann is really willing to take the time to help you understand the concepts if you ask him. He gives very good explanations in class and repeats things often. There is a lot of homework, but it will definitely help you understand the material.
Dr. Hegemann is a very knowledgable, organized, and well respected teacher. He posts all future assignments on Blackboard on the first day of class so there are no surprises. The homework is a bit tedious but easy if you pay attention in class. The tests are also easy if you study and pay attention in class. I would definitely recommend this class!
By far the WORST professor I have had thus far at UNL. When I told my family friend who is an accountant what we were learning in the class she couldn't believe it (too difficult for entry level. Mr. Hegemann is very unapproachable after class, and loves to be incredibly tricky on all of his exams. Test averages are low and he does not scale.
Cool guy and good teacher, but makes exams nearly impossible even throwing in trick questions. Exam reviews are no where near what actual test material difficulty is.
He is a decent teacher. He won't hand you the answers, so expect to work to get a good grade. As long as you keep up with the class, you will do fine. Homework is due every week. There are 4 tests weighted equally, and they can be quite tricky if you don't study for them.
He is a good person who is always willing to help, not an interesting professor though. Not a hard A if you read through textbook and do his homework.
There is a lot of work required in this class that is not worth very much to your final grade. You must do well on the four tests. Lectures are a bit dry and attendance is marked with assigned seating. Hegemann knows what he is teaching and goes through the problems on the homework/test in class. He also has review days that are very helpful.
Knows his stuff when it comes to accounting. Worked in NYC as an auditor for years and can relate the overall basic concepts to real world scenarios very easily. A little dry during lectures, but he does crack a few jokes. Make sure to show up to lectures because he grades attendance and his lectures help with the tests.
The professor's lectures are extremely helpful, along with the book. As long as you read the book and pay attention in class, the homework and quizzes are really easy. If you understand the homework and quizzes, the tests will also be easy.
I loved this class, accounting was one of my favorite classes, and although it was a fairly difficult class i thought that it was very easy as long as you really studied
If you haven't taken accounting before, this class is horrible. If you have good luck. He likes to give you easy problems in class and on the homework, but watch out for exams they're really tricky. He wasn't available outside of class as much and it was too difficult for an entry-level acct class.
Hegemann is overall a good professor. He is a great lecturer and brings real-world knowledge to the classroom. With working on Connect, there are the readings and about 130 comprehensive questions about the chapter, homework, and a quiz due each week, along with an overall homework for the entire section before each test. Tests are tricky though.
It seems like he barely cares and puts in the minimum effort necessary. One time he said we looked tired and cancelled class. He'll put tricky questions on the test; like it's multiple-choice but the corresponding letters don't match the options. Or obscure stuff like recording accounts receivable and reselling treasury stock. The homework is long.
I enjoy his personality because he's not afraid to make jokes and relates the work to real-life circumstances. Some of the required reading is extremely long, but the homework isn't too bad. He's readily available to help with questions whenever you have them. Does not offer extra credit, and won't round the final grade, no matter what.
Professor Hegemann is a cool guy. If you're having trouble understanding something, set up an appointment with him! He's great one-on-one!
Very full of himself and would rather brag about his life than teach the lectures.
Steve is awesome for accounting. He applies it to real-life situations. He isn't afraid to call people out though-so pay attention and come to class. Exams are a little hard but if you took accounting in high school this will be a breeze.
His lecture style isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I personally enjoyed him. He's funny and makes an attempt (sometimes unsuccessfully) to make class interesting. Homework is very time-consuming but is greatly helpful for his exams. Tests are heavily concept-based and focus less on calculations and more on the reasoning behind them.
He is a great professor and has knowledge in the profession since he works as a full time accountant. Makes tons of jokes and has plenty of stories. Very strict on no phones/laptops in class and attendance is kept even though it's lecture. Quality professor in a tough subject.
The main issue I had with the course is the large amount of homework assigned weekly and the tests being hard on the grade. He is a good professor otherwise. He is very strict on attendance and his no electronics policy and has two TA's patrol the stairs to do attendance and watch for electronics.
Relatable. Attended office hours whenever possible. interesting lectures(for accounting). ALWAYS do your assignments and show up for class.
Very tough. The class is hard enough as it is, and himself and the TAs make it harder. He really does not care to get to know the students. Must go to class because attendance is taken every class. The TAs walk around all class and make sure you do not tough your phone or computer. Tests are basically your whole grade.
Dr. Hegemann is one of the best professors I have had so far in college. This class is not an easy A class, but if you do all your homework and do ok on the exams you will pass. He makes lecture entertaining with his jokes and pass experience. If you are having trouble with the class there ARE A LOT OF HELP. GO TO OFFICE HOURS OR SEE A TA/MENTOR.
He's a nice guy with a few good jokes and a lot of knowledge and experience in accounting. He does a good job drilling the fundamentals of accounting into your brain with all the homework and examples in lecture. I actually came out of the class feeling like I learned something useful, which isn't something I can say for many professors.
I really enjoyed this class. There is a lot of homework and make sure you take the time to do it. The tests are challenging, but the exam reviews are similar and I would recommend doing both the in class and out of class ones.
I personally really enjoyed Mr. Hegemann as a teacher. He goes through exactly how to do everything in class while telling stories and making side jokes and comments. The class itself has a lot of homework, but it is easy, just time-consuming. Reviews are a lot like the exams. Read questions closely because he can be tricky in his wording.
Very intelligent man, but not a great teacher. The material is not that difficult but was presented to be.
I really enjoyed his class. There is a lot of homework, but if you do the homework and quizzes and really try to understand them, the tests are cake. He is really helpful in office hours as well. It can get confusing, but reading the book outside of class helped me a lot.
Gave great explanations, funny guy, makes the concepts seem simple and doesn't over-complicate things, very approachable, goes over the exam with you, provides excellent review material. Overall I really enjoyed this class. You do have to put the effort in and do the readings/assignments to do well in this class.
Very fast paced, a lot of homework (esp. in last few chapters), exams are worth 67.5% of your grade, attendance is required, no technology allowed in lecture. If you don't understand the accounting equation or debits and credits coming in, you're going to have to work a little bit harder to get an A, but it is still very attainable.
You will either love or hate Hegemann. He jokes around a lot in class which I like but some people don't. I would recommend going into office hours because the tests are not like the HW at all. Class is not easy, attendance is graded and tests are a large majority of your grade.
Pretty decent professor. You will spend a ton of time on the online hw and quizzes but it does a pretty decent job of preparing you for the exams. Attendance counts for a grade. It's a difficult class but if you put the effort in you should do fine.
The online homework takes awhile to get done but is helpful for tests. Tests are pretty difficult. Great professor, always willing to help or explain in a different way. No extra credit offered.
He's an okay professor, but he doesn't care nor take the time to look at your grade or if you are understanding the subject. He would just go through the slides and that would be it. Outside class time is HIGHLY encouraged for this course.
Stevie was a great instructor with a lot of quiet humor. The class was super test heavy and a decent amount of homework but he made 7:30 am lectures fun.
Excellent teacher. People didnt like the long homework but the extra repetition helps in making the exams more doable. Steve always explained things well in lecture and used plenty of examples to improve our understanding.
People either hate him or love him. He has a lot of humor and always makes his lectures entertaining. Homework assignments take hours to complete, and you might find yourself not doing them (that was me). Overall he is a great professor with his own style of teaching that really works in an accounting class.
Professor Hegemann is funny in class. I think he is good as his good as an accountant, but not a teacher. Test are not like reviews, tests are "2 steps" deeper than the reviews and lectures. TAs walk around to take attendance on the seating chart. Homework is stupid busy work. If you think you need help in the class, get help right away.
Hegemann is a really good teacher, but he was quite rude and treated students like they were dumb when they went into his office hours.
Dr Hegemann is a good professor, he teaches the class well. However, the same could not be said about the tutor in this class. The tutor that sat in for class 11:30 am class in Spring 2020 does not display any intention to help students succeed in this course. Tutor follows instructions blindly and does the bare minimum of what is expected of her.
He is a horrible professor. The exams are super hard. I went to every class, did all the homework, and went to reviews and still barely passed the class.
The exams are very much based on how well you can apply the homework into conceptual content. Not very engaging lectures but it helps to go to class because attendance is mandatory and taken as a small grade. Homework takes forever to do but gives 3 chances. Recommend going to office hours for questions as he does't answer them on canvas or email.
Steve is the man. He makes accounting very interesting. Classes are mandatory and attendance is taken every class. He can be a dry lecturer but you can tell he genuinely cares about his subject.
lots of homework, lots and lots of studying, exams are super hard and no time to finish or look it over. exams are most of your grade so if you do bad on one it is hard to bounce back.
This isn't an easy class and you'll have to study, but Steve teaches it well. Understanding concepts is key. Study hard early and it pays off later. HW is time-consuming but not hard if you understand it. The 4 exams (multiple choice not cumulative) are worth 67.5% of your grade, so it can be tough if you don't test well. Anywho, Steve is great :)
Lots of incredibly long assignments that require multiple hours to complete. Attendance in class is also mandatory with the use of phones or laptops decreasing your grade in the course. Other that this, he was one of my favorite professors and he explained things in a very clear way and was very helpful in explaining everything.
His class can seem long and boring at times, but tries to add humor to it. Make sure to review ALL of the material as the tests focus on everything that is not the practice problems. Would recommend that if you're struggling, take advantage of all the resources and get started with work as soon as possible.
He gives ALOT of homework, added on with extra homework that takes forever to do. The homework is very difficult and hard to understand sometimes as he doesn't explain how to complete it. It takes about a few hours for me to do one homework and one quiz, and the quizzes aren't helpful either because they are the exact same questions as the homework
His tests are meant to throw you off, so be sure to do the review and attend the review sessions!
Horrible professor ever
This man loves Tesla. I mean really really loves Tesla. Will tell you he doesnt but he talks about it every class. Also wait to buy the textbook honestly you dont need it. Go to TA office hours they REALLY help. Dont let the failure rate scare you, if you study the HW youll be ok.
Do not listen to these reviews that are saying they got A+ grades or that they would take it again. They are liars. The smartbook assignments take a couple of hours and YOU WILL NEVER USE THE INFO. Homework, quizzes, and great adventures have taken entire weekends of mine, AND I USED CHEGG ON THEM. The exams are designed to be unreasonable.
A hard class. There is a lot of work online for each unit so stay on top of that. Take good notes as well to know what is going on in each section.
Hegemann is a good professor and I enjoyed ACCT201 a lot. That being said, it is a weed out class and a lot of lazy people aren't going to pass no matter who teaches it. It is a lot of work and I would budget an hour to two hours per day for this class but if you do that the tests aren't very hard and you will end up with an A.
The homework assignments take hours. I had some assignments take me 8-9 hours. Literally. Tests are meant to trick you. Studying is necessary in this class. If you don't NEED to take this course I wouldn't recommend doing so.
Homework takes HOURS. I would spent at least 4 hours on each assignment. The first 75% of the semester the homework assignments were due over the weekend so I would spend my entire weekend doing homework. I asked if he could move the due date back so I wasn't spending my weekends doing hours of his homework, his response to my email was "no".
Homework was due Saturdays and you didn't have all the lecture material needed to complete the homework until Friday, the day before homework is due. Homework takes hours. You will spent your entire weekend doing homework for his class. Detrimental to mental health. Don't take with him.
His online course did not prepare you at all for the actual exams. Super hard material and did not learn a thing. Was a major struggle and some of the things on the exams we didn't even go over!
By far the worst professor I have had. The amount of course work is absolutely absurd considering the homework hardly relates to the exam. I spent hours and hours a day studying and doing the work only to be dumbfounded and have no clue what the heck was on the exam. Definitely would not recommend at all!
Never take this class unless you have to. The homeworks take 3-4 hours to complete around 20 questions & do not prepare you for the tests or even help improve your grade. The lectures don't help prepare you for either as well. This is the worst class I've ever taken and would not recommend to anyone. Be prepared for hours and hours of work everyday
The class is ridiculous. Took it online, and worked for at least 5 hours daily. The homeworks and reading assignments that go with each chapter take an unnecessary amount of time, especially considering they are completely unhelpful on the exams. The exams are meant to trick you and the questions are over things that he does not cover in class.
Professor Hegemann has been in the accounting world for so long that he assumes everyone has a clear understanding of accounting. Moreover, he will make you feel inferior if you dont. Tests are meant to ruin your grade, quizzes are pointless, and the homework is unnecessarily hard and take 5-8 hours. (lectures have nothing to do with them.)
Not to be dramatic, but I have anxiety, and studying for his exams gave me frequent full-on panic attacks. Expect to pull all-nighters studying for this class. Many people fail his exams, and he doesn't grade on a curve. He is also not very understanding about student situations that may be preventing you from achieving a higher grade.
If you aren't a good tester, good luck. More than half your grade is exams that are extremely hard and are meant to throw you off. He is also notorious for giving out false information regarding exam prep. You'll be all alone when taking this class and he will be rude when you don't understand things right away.
This class is just horribly designed. I spend 5-7hrs each week doing smartbook, HW, and quizzes. The HW and quizzes are nothing like the exams. Exams have poorly worded questions and are designed to trick you. Dr. H isn't a horrible professor. He can be funny at times but makes it obvious that he doesn't want you to email him. Go to TA for help.
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, take this class if you care about your GPA at all and don't have to take this class for requirements. This guy is terrible. He makes you do hours of homework then exams relate NOTHING to the reviews. They relate nothing to the homework. I spent 8 hours the night before and next morning studying and still barely passed.
This class will deteriorate your mental health. You will spend a ridiculous amount of time on homework and quizzes, and they are only worth 10% of your grade. I spent about 6-8 hours on each individual assignment. Also, the exams will not have homework or quiz material on them, just questions meant to confuse you. Worst class you will EVER take.
Expect to spend at least 15 to 20 hours a week working in this class.
Watching his lecture videos, he doesn't seem like a terrible teacher. That being said, this class was not made to be an online asynchronous course. I spend 6-8 hours on homework a week and don't have time to watch the 45min-1hour lecture videos he puts out 3 times a week. Homework and review is nothing like the tests, you are destined to fail.
Accounting is generally a pretty difficult class, but Prof. Hegemann makes it bearable. He's funny and gives solid lectures. I never went to office hours so I'm not sure how he is outside of class.
Accounting is not an easy class to take, so it needs you to work hard and study daily. Dr. Hegemann is a very nice professor in and outside the class. He is making the lectures as easy and clear as possible. Yes, he is strict about grading and not rounding up the grades at all.
I spent more time on this class than all my classes combined every week. It is very homework, quiz, and lecture heavy. The exams were designed to be very difficult and offered no leeway to get points back. There were 1+ hour lectures to watch 3 times a week, which is very difficult to keep up with along with the rest of the assignments.
He does not care about his students obligations outside of school. If you dont make him your number one priority, he isnt going to care he is just going to let you fail.
This class is the definition of what you put into it is what you get out of it. His grading is frustrating because he does not round up grades or give extra credit. He is actually a good professor though his lectures are entertaining and I learned a lot in this class. If you try you will pass
Not a very strong teacher. He knows his stuff but is not good at teaching students the information. Most of class he just talks about himself or other things that don't really help you with the homework. If you have prior accounting experience it will be lots of review but if you are new, be prepared to read and study outside of class.
ACCT201 was a pain to get in the groove of. It's like learning another language, but with math, and unforgiving grading. Steve isn't too bad. He's funny and is versed in the accounting world. It's the class that's rough. For godsake, take detailed notes on journal entries and once you're done with HW, don't submit! -- Use it as guide for quiz!
This is the least favorite class I've ever taken. The homework takes an absurd amount of time and does not help whatsoever for the tests. The tests are extremely misleading the way they are worded. Highly would not recommend. My friend was an accounting major, she switched after two weeks of the class.
He is so arrogant and annoying. I hated going to his lectures. He didn't teach anything, we taught ourselves doing the homework and quizzes. This could literally be a self-taught class bc by the time I went to lecture, I already knew all of the material. The readings are 3-4 hours, but the homeworks aren't as bad; Don't do it the day its due.
Dr. Hegemann is great! The dude is hilarious and makes the class much more enjoyable. Yes, there is a lot of hw and the tests are hard, but welcome to college. This isn't preschool anymore. If you want to be successful in this class, do the homework by yourself, not copied from your friend. Read the textbook and ask questions in class. Good luck!
Not gonna lie I almost dropped this class just because of reading this website. It is honestly not that bad. If you show up to class, plan ahead, and do the homework, you will do just fine. The homework, quizzes, smartbooks, and great adventures do take some time and you can't wait until the last minute to do it. His lectures are entertaining.
First day of class he told everyone, "If you're not an ACCT major I don't care much for you." We thought it was a joke, it wasn't. Our exams were online, and my laptop wifi went out halfway through, I messaged him to reopen it for me to finish and he did but the time was all gone and so I messaged him again and he said, "Don't message me again".
Steven Hegemann was by far the worst professor I've had in my UNL experience so far. He doesn't care about the students at all. His grading system is screwed. The exams are worth about 60% of your grade. If you don't do well on the exams, you won't pass. The homework is time-consuming and barely changes your grade, even if you get above a 90%
Hegemann is a good guy and knows what he is talking about. Be prepared to spend at least 5 hours each week on just hw assignments. You have to teach yourself everything out of the book. Tests are 67.5% of your'e grade, so you cant fail them. Don't try to email him because he either doesn't respond or tells you to don't email him. Doesn't give EC.
I enjoyed his sense of humor, however he sometimes deviates from important subjects. I found that by the time I completed the various homework assignments, I wouldn't even need to pay attention in class. Takes some people a while to complete homework assignments, they're challenging at first but with practice become easier.
He's great if you're willing to put in the work. The guy is hilarious and makes lectures pretty enjoyable. However, I discovered pretty fast that most of the learning is done through the long homework assignments. If you can put in the work, you'll be fine. He's accessible outside class and is a great resource for learning about accounting careers.
Professor Hegemann is overall a good professor but the work load for this class is outrageous. If you take this course be prepared to spend hours of your week working on homework alone. I didn't find his lectures to be very helpful and mostly taught myself though doing the homework. By far the worst part of this class is the homework program.
Professor Hegemann is a really nice guy! He is very knowledgeable and does a decent job at lecturing the material. Accounting in general is tough, so going to class, and starting to homework ahead of time will help you be successful! He is usually available after class for questions along with his TA.
Honestly not a terrible course but it's also hard to say the professor did much. The majority of my learning was from the homework, although once in a while there would be some important morsel of information mentioned in the lectures. Tests are moderately difficult, you definitely have to study a good amount, and are worth a large portion of grade
Prof. Hegemann hands out many assignments, but if you complete them all and make sure you have a basic understanding, you will be fine. Going to either his office hours or his TAs is beneficial, and while this class will take up a lot of your time, you will get a decent grade if you study and pay attention in class.
Professor Hegemann is very knowledgeable about Accounting. However, he is unforgiving regarding grades and relies on his tenure at the university to torture students with his grading and attendance rules. Be prepared to have your due dates be at 10:59 just because last-minute work is "unprofessional." Lectures are worthless. HW teaches the course.
Prof. Hegemann was a fantastic teacher, and I enjoyed attending his class. His lectures were a treat, and he was able to teach the material well because he has so much experience in the field that he could offer many different angles and ways of doing and looking at things.
This class is just so so so much work. The lectures are helpful some of the time, but you end up teaching yourself a lot of it through the homework and quizzes. Take advantage of the teaching and learning center in the basement of the COB and you'll be fine. Get through 201 and 202 is a lot easier!!
Great professor, has really clear lectures to help with homework and tests. Gives review sessions and practice exams before tests which are really beneficial. Wants students to do well and is willing to help if you reach out to him.
Hegemann is the only professor for 201, so it is like a rite of passage to take this class in the CoB. With that said, he is not great, but he's not terrible. Do your homework, take advantage of the free tutors, and just get it done. This class sucks but it isn't really Hegemann's fault, it just is what it is.
worst professor i have EVER had. each homework assignment took a minimum of 7 hours to complete, one of them even took me 10 hours. hw and quizzes barely change your grade! i went to every class and spent hours each day studying, but because i am a horrible test taker, i barely passed the class with a C.
No extra credit and you end up teaching yourself. Your GPA is a going to take a hit with this course. Each homework assignment takes 3-4 hours. A few took closer to 6 hours. Tests 2 and 3 are very difficult and no curves!
Steven was one of the worst college professors I have ever had. He really didn't care about the students at all. When you take his class, just be prepared for lots of homework, and make sure to study hard for tests!
As an instructor, he's great. He has a ton of stories, cracks jokes, explains things clearly, has valuable insight on the practical application of accounting, and has opportunities to meet him outside of class. He is rated poorly because he gives a LOT of homework and does not extend ANYTHING.
Dr. Hegemann is a bit rough around the edges, but is a great person and teacher at the core! His lectures are interesting and funny. His teaching approach is no nonsense and clear. Lot's of homework, but it helps to really learn the material well for future accounting classes. I would absolutely take any class with Hegemann!
I would recommend going to class, but if you miss its not the end of the world. He is very straightforward about his teaching. If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask. He is really good at making everything make sense. He does really like to talk about himself.
Prof. Hegemann is the worst professor I have had at UNL. I understand that the class itself is very difficult but, he does nothing to help. He has no care for any of his students and has a big "not my problem" attitude. If you can switch professors, DO!
Dr. Hegemann is a great professor, and brightens my day. Every time I go to his class, I always know I will have a wonderful time. Everyone that says he is bad is a filthy liar.
One of the worst professors. The class in general is pretty difficult but he honestly made it worse. Going to class made the content more confusing. The only way I kept a B was by going to tutoring every week or else I might have failed the class. ACCT 201 is the worst class I have ever taken and is a lot of work.
Textbook and all assignments are through McGraw Hill. Honestly, Hegemann was a solid teacher and would always be available to answer questions. I didn't really go to lecture after the third week. This class is all about discipline and time management.
A lot of people will say that he is terrible, but let's be honest here, a lot of professors at every university doesn't really explain everything during lecture. You'll get most, if not all of your information from doing the homework assignments, as the homework is very similar to the tests. Homework will take very long to complete.
The best way to study for this class is to work ahead and then (actually help) others with the homework. Use scratch paper for literally everything - write every single entry down.
This guy gets a bad rep for no reason. His lectures are very helpful. If you go to class and complete the homework, you should be able to get the grade you want. He is quick to reply to emails and is helpful. I took this as a J-term class so I don't know him personally, but I feel like I learned a lot and he did a lot to facilitate my learning.
This class in general actually sucks. I don't find his lectures helpful, as he doesn't use anything with McGraw hill inside class and then all the homework, quizzes and exams are McGraw hill. The reviews for the exams are also nothing like the statements or sheets you will complete on the exam. This class is the worst class I've taken in my life.
The lectures help, and as long as you're actually trying to learn from the study books and the homework, you won't have a problem on the exams. The study books are 50 questions ish long, and are a slug to get through. The homeworks take a while, are hard, but you learn a ton from them. Take your time on them and you will do great
Took this as a pre-session, so it was online. Could rewatch lectures, which was a plus. Pre-session=3 weeks, so material was VERY condensed. Prof opened material early, so I got about 5 weeks to do coursework. Tests every week, homework everyday on McGraw Hill. Advice: start early, DON'T fall behind. Tests worth 80%, you get 1 note sheet.
I took this as a pre-session class, so I knew it was going to be a lot on me. I didn't like that he wasn't open to any extra credit or rounding grades, knowing that at least 20/70 people failed the class. You have to put the time in to do well but just know he has no care for personal life or other classes you are taking.
you learn absolutely NOTHING from the professor and spend the entire semester teaching yourself from the textbook (which he barely acknowledges), this is the class for you. He doesn't explain concepts, doesn't answer questions clearly, and goes on unrelated tangents while expecting you to know everything for the exams magically.
The workload for this class involves 75 concept smartbooks, which translates to 150 questions. 1-2 of these smartbooks are due each week. It's very difficult to understand the concepts well enough on the lectures alone, so you will have to read the textbook and self-teach. Attendance is taken. Did not round my 89.9 to an A
Professor Hegemann was by far the worst teacher I had in my college career. He spends most of his lectures cracking jokes or flirting with the TA. He should really focus on teaching the material and helping students. I recall one day where he was even bragging about how much money he makes. His class consists of a lot of homework and he's no help!
Dr. Hegemann is not empathetic and doesn't understand the lives of students. I am working 40 hours a week and taking another class as well, but the professor for the other class was understanding, this guy is not. Take the class with any other professor because he has no heart (no rounding, no extra credit, no help).
