The Professor was excellent in his teaching and materials. The field trips was a learning lesson and you can use it to built your job search. His class is challenging because I had never made any kind of TV project in the past. Just shooting video of family and stuff like that. Learning about scripts and planning a production, editing is all so much fun. Mr. Hirohama has a strange kind of humor. I never know if he's joking or serious though. But the class is good.

This guy was my first film teacher ever, and if I can say one thing about him it's that HE KNOWS HIS STUFF. He'll break down the basics for you in a way that's no-nonsense, efficient, and cultivates your creativity. Not only does he know the right people, but he has the degree and experience to back it up. He's also a nice guy. TAKE HIS CLASS.

I liked him, but sometimes he would ramble on a lot about things that had absolutely nothing to do with the class. I would have preferred more drawing in class time and more "hands-on" type of lessons, instead of just watching movies without much of a clue as to why. That said, I did learn quite a bit from the books and from doing the assignments.

Hirohama's class is interesting to say the least, at least in what you learn. Hirohama will tell you how to operate or how to do certain tasks, but you don't really understand what he means till you do it yourself. You also have to put a lot of effort in your projects, NOTHING is doable last minute. I would take the course again though.

I shot on 16mm, filmed an event in Palm Springs and met Richard Edlund at the ASC Clubhouse. I attended the Final Cut Pro Summit in Los Angeles where I learned tons about the software and was able to submit a short film that won an award. The opportunities in this class are well worth the work to put in. The decision is yours to take them or not.

In this course, we were given numerous personal examples from the professor's time working within the industry. This is a great class if you don't have access to someone with personal experience. He is very realistic about the challenges the film industry may present which I found incredibly helpful.

Hirohama is knowledgeable and laid-back. He makes the class easy to follow, often invites guest speakers and former students to share their experiences, demonstrate how to apply the knowledge, and show that we can make films too. The professor is generous with his network connections and frequently offers internship opportunities to his students.

He's very knowledgeable about the film industry, and he's a great resource for those that want to find ways to explore the industry as a newcomer. The actual class is pretty straightforward, and the main project is the bulk of the work. I'd recommend focusing on the big project, working with classmates on it, and following his recommended timeline.

This professor does not answer emails for clarification or help and will mark your assignment grades down a lot for so little. Some of his assignments and projects are vague and does not allow resubmission before AND after the due date. Even if you do the assignments to the best of your ability he's very picky with how your submission should look.

If you are a student who has deep passion in film and excited to pursue it and also with visual help, this professor is definitely not meant for you. This is my 3rd time taking this course as the last times it was difficult to get ahold and assignments honestly just seemed to be given without actual helpful info. I wish I saw what others say.

The material was informative and enjoyable to learn. However, the professor is very set in what he wants to see, a very tough grader. Late work is not accepted under any condition but there are a couple of extra credit options. Despite that coursework is marked a lot of points down for not following to a T or how the prof. wants it to be. Beware...
