Don't miss a class!!!! He will take off if you miss. He is a very Hard teacher his test are nothing like this lectures. I do not recomend him at all.

whatever you do never miss class and always take notes, while trying to stay awake
Excellent teacher! Yes, he is very hard, but I took a special topics class under him and I could not have asked for a better teacher. It was not easy, but I learned alot!
What are you business majors smoking, Isbell is a great professor. I mean come on, how hard is it to follow high school algebra.
Any Questions?
avoid this guy like the plague. he always ends a ramble with "any questions", but he will rarely answer any. also, his tests have very little similarity to his lectures. the lectures are incredibly dry and his writing is illegable.
Very good lecturer. Take good notes. Read your book. You can do good. He does a good job making abstract concepts seem simple.
Great teacher. Not easy, but not overly difficult, either. Likes questions in class (even this very large class), and is approachable outside of class. Love the illustrations he uses to demonstrate difficult concepts.
True, his tests aren't easy. Welcome to college. He's a good and fair teacher who is willing to help you with whatever questions you may have.
Better than Rappl, but I wouldn't say his tests are any easier than hers. Probably harder. I studied my tail off for the last test, and I made a 70. He makes you have to understand Macroeconomics rather just memorizing it. 'Any Questions?'
Not an easy teacher but very smart well spoken. Knows how to get a point across. He's got some wierd quirks but get past that and he's ok. People say his tests are hard but it all comes strait from the lectures. Take good notes and you can't go fail.
He is an interesting lecturer, but if you want to pass his tests, do not rely totally on notes taken in class. Be sure to read the book. He has a great sense of humor, and I liked his class.
The material is hard but he is a good teacher. He will tell you that the he makes the test tricky, and he does. He will try to scary you at first but hang in there and give it time.
He is def. hard, but if you study, go to class, and pay attention, you will pass without a problem. Try not to fall asleep though, even though he is extremly boring!!!
Isbell is a great teacher. The material may be confusing, but he keeps you interested and does a great job explaining things.
I took Dr. Isbell for Econ 3610 and 3320 both in the same semester - It was the best semester I've ever had at TTU. He is incredibly interesting, and he likes the subjects he teaches about. Anyone who doesn't make at least a "B" has no common
I took him for Econ 2010, 2020, 3610, and 3620 I loved his classes! He's a great teacher and his love to teach shows through his class. I recommend him to anyone who asks me!!! I will greatly miss him when I graduate!
Thought he was a hard teacher, but got to Rappl's and realized. All econ test are hard, but atleast Isbell knew something about the subject and could teach it. I learned and enjoyed his lectures, i question meaning of life in Rappl's
Aside from the day he said "Any questions?" 76 times, he's a teacher that knows what he's talking about and gives not killer, but crippling tests.
He's a very interesting lil man. . he is unusual and tries to trick you in class. His tests are relatively hard. . . so study. Basically it comes from the notes you take. He will try to help . . .good guy.
Intermediate Microeconomics! He makes it interesting, but Inter Mic is inherently hard. He's good at it though. I'd take him again for something.
Intermediate Microeconomics. Yes, yes. Intermic was something not to be envyied, but Isbell made it fun. I like being able to have the teacher apply classroom to everyday life. I'll take him again. Though i am an economics major, i guess i don't have much of a choice.
This is the guy for stat. His test are not easy, unless you do the homework and go to class. If you do those two things, test are a breeze. Make good grades on the first three test, the final is a bear. He is one of the fairest graders at Tech, spends lots of time making sure missed exam question
He was very helpful and I related to his teaching style.
The class is not easy, but Dr. Isbell really tries to help you learn the material. Show up for class, do the homework, and STUDY for the tests! He actually enjoys his profession and makes the class interesting/applies it to real-life situations.
I hate economics, but I really liked Isbell's class. He is a really good teacher and makes a boring subject fairly interesting. He is very willig to help, and he wants everyone to do well. I would definitely take him again!
Dr. Isbell is a great professor! His exams are tricky, but once you get used to his style, they become easier each time. He is very helpful outside of class! Try and get him as a professor!
Great teacher! His lectures are rather entertaining, and he puts all his notes online right after class. He explains things clearly, offers many examples, and dances a saucy jig if everyone makes an A.
His lectures are really interesting. To do well, go to class and study the lecture notes along w/ your notes. He puts those lecture notes on his website. I printed a copy off, took them to class, and took notes on those so that you could compare that way you get a broader understanding of everything.
Do not take him; I dont care what anyone says. His final is comprehensive essay answer that was like a bunch of riddles. Take Difurio unless you wanna get screwed. His notes are unclear; there is no book, he didnt post our grades of our 3rd test till an hour before the final; he lied to my class by telling use hed curve finalgrades by 3 points.Terr
I've had Isbell for Micro & Stats now. He is rather difficult, but he is really fair about grading. The final is rough, but you'll get through it if you have the slightest clue.
Man, Isbell is so hot!
Isbell is so funny. I really enjoy his class. He's such a hottie! He should have, like, 5 chili peppers on here. Seriously, his class is very interesting and enjoyable.
Yeah so if you really want to learn something Take this Man and I promise you will learn alot. He goes out of his way to help you Understand the material and how it's applicable to life. Plus He's sooooo Hotttttt...........too bad you cant give more than 1 Chili Pepper..........Watch out if you sleep in his class he will throw chalk at You, lol
If i could leave 14 chili peppers, i would, but i'm afraid i don't know his marginal utility function well enough to know when the chili peppers don't do the job any more. I'll leave one.
hes a cool guy that doesnt act like a professor but he know his stuff. you will get alot out of what he says and he doesnt have to say alot. very good teacher
THIS GUY IS A JOKE!! HE GAVE A FOOTBALL PLAYER A C WHEN HE HAD A F AND THE FOOTBALL PLAYER TOLD ME HIMSELF. I WENT AND ASK FOR HELP AND GOT NOTHING, WORKED HARD TO AT LEAST TRY TO GET A D SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO RETAKE THE CLASS BUT IT WAS ALL FOR NOTHING HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT HIS STUDENTS AND SAID SO WHEN SOMEONE ASK IF ANYONE IN THE CLASS HAD AN A
Dr. Isball is easily one of the finest instructors in the college of business. And he's freaking hot too.
This guy is a goon and his laugh is probably the most annoying sound I've ever heard. I made it through his class just fine, but I am so glad I'll never have to take him again.
Helping prove a point
He may be annoying at times, but a great teacher. I like math, but I don't think you have to like math to succeed in this class. No text required. Easy A if you put a little effort into it.
Great teacher. If someone does poorly in the class, it is because they are either lazy, or just not smart enough. He doesn't do favors, but he is fair and explains the material very well.
Isbell is the best economics teacher. He is very clear and explains everything well. You must study to do well one the exam. Take him for any of your economics classes.
Great teacher. I actually look forward to this class sometimes. He turns the subject of Macro...into words that we, as students, can understand and comprehend. Great guy outside of the classroom as well.
Good guy to take. Isbell actually makes the subject of macroeconomics interesting at times. Tests can be difficult, but he has a tendancy to curve at the end of the semester which can help your grade alot (if you do the homework).
Thought I was doing well in the class. Okay professor but really hard tests. Makes things fairly clear in the lectures but the tests are confusing. Bombed the final when I though I did well.
Dr. Isbell is an amazing lecturer and relates to real life. Highly recommended.
he's an ok teacher. homework is all online. make sure you read the textbook if u want a good grade. tests are hard so study. the final is the hardest of them all and i thought i did better than i did. he gives a small curve but it wasn't much help. overall, i guess you can take him but if there are other options, look into those first.
K. for those of u wonderin about ole Isbell for econ. couple pointers.. Come to class, do the flippin aplia, LISTEN in class, and your pretty much guaranteed an A/B. i made an A pretty easily. he's a good man, puts econ in a easy to understand way. ex. Gilligans Island. he deserves like 17 chili peppers Isbell if u read this Beouwulf codename :)
Entertaining and explains the material well.Make your own syllabus.Half the class didnt have to take the final because we added a dropped test grade to syllabus, but everyone still showed up for the last classes because it was just that good.
Hard Professor, does not slow down for nothing. have to use applia software, and have to use the clicker for quizes. Bad handwritting and all notes are written for you to copy if you can read them. Does curve at the end of the semester so thats a plus. If you can take another teacher take that one .
The worst professor I've had a Tech so far. The only reason I'm passing is because I read the book thoroughly and take a ton of notes on that but still the best I can do is a C. His tests are impossible and he's arrogant. If you don't mind doing a ton of work to get a C then take him.
I thought he was arrogant, and didn't seem to want to help. The homework was extremely hard. Make sure you go to class and really listen. if you could take another professor, do it!
Dr. Isbell would not be my first choice, but I did end up with an A in the class. To do well, go to class, try really hard to pay attention, but most importantly READ the chapters. He stopped giving clicker quizzes for our class, so attendance isn't mandatory.
In class he makes things make sense, but outside, such as on homework or during tests, things are not clear at all. There are also lulls in the class while he is speaking where he makes it very easy to fall asleep. An average professer.
Great professor that will help if you ask. Tests are not crystal clear but covers everything he goes over in the lecture. Show up to class and study some and you should get an A.
He tells you on the first day that the class will be harder than your average class. All of the homework is online and the textbook is also online with the homework so you dont need to buy it.
hard class, nice guy and funny but fair
Great professor, difficult course. But even though it was difficult, I would definitely take it again - from him. Anything that is not clear he is glad to clear up, and he wants you to do well. PRO TIP: GO TO THE HELP SESSIONS! They are great, and even if you don't have a specific question, it makes things clearer.
Very slow to give feedback.
Difficult course and he makes it more difficult, he tells you that at the first day...
He does not care about his students at all and does not do anything out of his way to help them. He does the minimum to get paid, and it is very annoying. He definitely does not have the heart of a teacher. Maybe he had it at one point, but he's all bureaucratic business now.
He tells you from day 1 that the class is difficult and it is. His lectures don't always match with homework. He also only has 4 test grades for your average, so bombing one really brings you down. If you study really well, go to help sessions, and/or do practice problems. Also, USE THE STUDY GUIDE. He rewords questions, but they ask the same stuff
This class was tough. The homework was tough also. He needs to lighten up on his grading.
Absentee instructor, essentially. Late postings, late feedback.
This is a MBA level class, and it is difficult, especially if you have no statistics background or Excel training. He puts videos online that are helpful, but not always enough to help you understand. But he does not make himself available for help or feedback. You will have to work hard to do well in this class. He does not help much.
This class is tough, but considering that it's an MBA class it is supposed to be more challenging than the average undergrad course. Assigns 5 homework assignments and the final one is one 10 page paper. But he allows you to collaborate with other students on ideas for the homework. If you work hard enough, you can get an A in the class.
Unclear expectations, grades slowly so expect to get most assignments back at the end of the semester.
Agree. Unclear expectations and grades veeery slowly. Avoid him if you can.
Professor and his partner made lecture videos years ago and are able to sit back and collect a check. Grades slow and feedback not given in time to help for the next assignment. Final paper was due and still had not received grades for two previous assignments. This is a core class so unfortunately you can't avoid this.
Absolutely unacceptable. This is a graduate level class. The videos are old, so all he has to do is post them, but he doesn't even do that timely. All he has to do is grade papers, and he's not even doing that. So basically, we get cheated out of work time for each assignment, AND we have no idea what our grade is!
I've had Isbell three times (different classes) and would be glad to have him again. Far and away the best lecturer I've had for any class in college. Absolutely hilarious, too. His earlier courses tend to be harder because he only does tests for grades, but his later courses are very easy. Also, he once threw a piece of chalk in a student's mouth
One of the hardest classes I've ever taken, class is hard to understand. Get with a group if not you won't pass the class, a lot of learning on your own. The only good thing is that it really makes you think
Isbell is passionate about Microeconomics, so he was outstanding at teaching this course! He taught in a way that made everything very understandable and easy to follow. Homework due just about every week, but not too difficult. His jokes make class go by faster, but he can easily go on tangents. Would definitely take him again!
He is my only C on my whole college career. He's class is difficult, I don't recommend.
This class is difficult. He wants you to get help from other students using discussion boards. He is a tough grader and there are only 3 grades for the entire class. Be prepared to watch outdated videos from 2013 that will not help much on the assignments. Good luck!
Not a difficult class. Required minimal effort and he works for everyone's benefit in calculating final letter grade. 89 can be an A based on average class grades. Uses math to explain some concepts, no way of getting around that with this course. Overall not difficult east to get a high B a smidge of studying can get you an A.
I have taken Dr. Isbell for multiple classes and have loved every single one of them. Attendance is not mandatory but I never want to miss any of his class because he is such an expert in his fields he can give you more knowledge in one hour of class than you could ever get in an hour of reading or studying. Prepare to take lots of notes.
Wow. I honestly can't believe he is a professor. This has been the worst class out of undergrad AND grad school combined at TTU. He gives you 3 assignments with ZERO guidance, and expects you to somehow know what is going on? He posts outdated videos that are not even relevant to the assignments, nor is he even in most of the videos. BEWARE!!!!!!!!
Probably going to transfer schools due to THIS HORRIBLE PROFESSOR AND CLASS. I thought grad school was for learning material that could be used in your profession... however, this class hasn't taught me ANYTHING. If you want to get put on anxiety medicine and be forced to quit working because of a professor, TAKE ISBELL. Otherwise run far far away!
No textbook required means you absolutely must attend class. His lectures are great and are very well organized. The course content flows perfectly and is easy to understand. He's more than happy to answer questions and drives home the key concepts to understanding how Statistics is used. The best professor I've had for math-related courses.
No textbook. Very few practice problems made available for exam readiness. Quizzes given online that are definition based and not at all applicable to the exams or lecture. I've heard bad things about all Econ 3610 professors, might as well take Isbell. He is at least funny and makes class bearable.
Although this class is asynchronous online, you can tell that Isbell is pretty much checked out and just phoning it in. The videos are VERY old and very condensed with lots of formulas. The online forums are a joke, with Isbell providing the barest of responses and no class collaboration. Too bad this is a required class for the MBA. It's awful.
Extremely disappointed to see a class like this in a graduate program. There was no apparent desire from him for students to actually learn the material. Communication was minimal and the little that I had with him, I found him to be rather rude. Assignments had no direction and he's an extremely tough grader. Tech can do better than this.
Awful professor for a completely online MBA class. I understand that college classes have some percentage of 'teach yourself the material' but this course is awful. Two Data Projects and Three Quizzes are what your graded on with little to no direction until after you receive your grade, and even then feedback is minimal. Videos are older than me!
Probably the worst professor I have had while at Tech. His exam are nothing like his lectures and homework.
Taking this class is a horrible idea. A class that has is only pre-made videos from 2013 that is horrible quality in not only audio and visual but also provides examples with the use of an outdated version of excel. He barely responds and when he does it never answers your question and make sure if you do take this class to create a group for hw
Pretty amazing this is a required course for an MBA. Bad look for Tech, which is otherwise a great school. If there is another professor as an option for this course, choose them.
Dosen't give feed back on homework/exams
Appears very uninterested in teaching
Dosen't give feedback. Lectures don't explain exam material in depth. I don't know why I went to Tech for my MBA this class was a joke and I didn't learn anything.
Worst experience I've ever had in an online class. He uses old poor quality videos that barely explain what we're tested on. He also provides no textbook for students to learn the material on their own.
He does not grade you on a lot of things. You get unlimited attempts on homework assignments. Sometimes, he doesn't enter the answer correctly on ilearn, so you must email him to look over it if you keep missing it. Exams are very similar to homework and are open note. There is no textbook, but all vocab is included in the lecture Excel files.
Professor Isbell moves through lectures too fast to take notes and often assumes students already know advanced material. His handwriting is hard to read, and exams aren't clearly outlined. It feels like he's teaching experts, not students still learning. Wouldn't recommend.
Not a hard class but you won't learn anything. Professor puts in minimal effort and gives no feedback. Waste of time and money
Snore. I can't write down notes since he won't leave the slide with the definitions visible for us to write. But what he will do is ramble on about mindless stuff for like half the class. Makes mistakes on his own quizzes and exams that he doesn't fix. Will NOT reply to emails. Just don't take him. He makes an easy class feel way harder than it is.
I barely understood the material and would have to teach myself at most times. I stopped paying attention to lectures because he was barely any help.
