Great teacher. Very fair grader and the tests and quizzes are very straight forward, just go over the study guides once or twice. Easy A if you do all the essays

I definitely recommend this professor. Fair grader, clear in his assignments & willingness to help. He's also kind of funny. :-) Made ENC 1102 bearable. :-)

This was one of my favorite teachers in college. I strongly suggest this professor if English isn't your bag of cheese.

mr. knapp is an exceptional instructor and anyone who takes this class should be able to pass it with great ease, as long as you keep up to date with your assignements

I would not take this class online with this teacher. He may be a good classroom teacher but on-line he does not talk to you much and doesn't give feedback on your essays. Also he only e-mails you about once a month.

Easy class. He's very nice and funny. If you show up to class and put effort into the work, you should get an A.

I took the online version of the class & made an A. You don't need very much communication if you follow his instructions posted on his website. He is willing to meet with you in person or via telephone if you ask! He strikes me, as most professors, who feel it is the student's job to approach them with questions.

If you do the work, ask if you have any questions, and attempt to be interested, you will be fine. Make sure you turn in your papers on time. He's a chill professor, but not having an essay done on time is the one thing he doesn't like. It's like 500 words, and one 1000 word, so I'm sure you can find the time

Knapps class is not hard at all and he goes really into detail. we did fun stuff like watch legally blonde and talk about off the wall things. take his class if you get the chance hes pretty easy too.

ok teacher, easy b as long as u pay attention in class and write decent essays, but if u want an A you're gonna have to make sure u read the longman.

Prof. Knapp was a wonderful teacher, though he liked to ramble a lot. He's very passionate about his subject, and he's helpful when you ask for his help. If you want a good grade, you do have to do the work--It's an English class, so there's a lot of writing involved. Be prepared to do a lot of reading and write decent essays.

Mr. Knapp is a great teacher. Lots of essays and he grades pretty harshly but it's not hard to pass.

I have mixed feelings about this teacher. I got an A in his class, but I busted my butt to get it. If you aren't afraid to work REALLY hard, take him. A TON of writing. We had a 2 big essays a 1,000 word and a 2,000 word. On top of the 2 big essays were MANY MANY 500 word essays, at least one a week. He explained many of the poems and plays clearly

took him for the fall of 07 and he was a good teacher. You use ur text book at every class.His test are easy if u study the definitions from the book and u listen in class when he discuss the stories, you should have no problem. You have 500 essays due every 2 weeks. Midterm and final is easy if u study the guide. I passed with a B

He's a good teacher as far as grammar and going over stories. Class gets really boring really quick though. And be prepared for A LOT of writing. 500 word essay due once a week for the first month and a half. But if you go over the bedford and do well on his worksheets you'll get good grades on your essays. READ LONGMAN!all tests are on it's storie

Great teacher!There is no dumbing down in this class,so expect to do alot of essays.The good thing is he teaches at a english comp. 2 standard,so when you finish this class you are more than prepared for the next level.Id recommend him if you need english comp.2 and are going for a major that requires alot of writing.

Amazing teacher!!! As long as you stidy we will get a 'A'. He gives great feedback on assignmnets and his quizzes are easy, some even include crossword puzzles.

I took this class over the summer and online. For a gordon rule class that has a high word count for papers in such a short time it was pretty right to the point. He was always quick to respond to emails. I never got anything higher than a B on any paper and had help from CPI lab, so I felt he did grade those hard. Otherwise, easy B.

I took him for English 1, he was a good instructor. I had some hard times trying to figure out what he really wanted but still never ended up getting a hang of it. Easy to get a B, at least that's what i got for my hard work. Take him if no other choice is left i guess. But he'll take some time out to help you out. He is a pretty nice instructor.

Hmmmm... This one was a GREAT one!! Mr. Knapp was easy, mellow, understandable and very kind!! My BEST teacher yet!! Read the short stories he assigns and pay attention the grammar lessons, for he gives pop quizzes ALOT!! This class was fun because we were able to work with others.. Do your best on the essays! AWESOME DUDE!!!!

Mr. Knapp is an excellent teacher,however, you have to put in some effort.I got a B on my first two essays, and A's after that. His class has made me a better writer, and he is a funny guy, and a great professor. Professional, but not stuffy, and helps you get more out of yourself.

I liked outside material and references that he brought to class-informative. His expectations and grading were clear and doable most of the time. Showing up added to success as he gives many quizes and in class credit opportunities. I ended up getting better grade than expected; getting A on essays was hard for me. Not sure if I'd take him again.

I do not like english but he was an overall good professor. He was clear about all the assignments but I would not take him again.

GREAT TEACHER! I don't understand why everyone is saying he's terrible. I recieved A's on most of my essays and for the ones I didn't he told me why. He is super organized and his jokes can be corny but it lightens the mood. Personally I wish i had taken him for ENC1101 and I can't wait for his Linguistics class!! :)

An impressive rubric for the advanced college writting class! I have never taking anything from an english course, until now. I can see for a freshman or someone who is not solid could easily fail, but stick with it! It truley is a great lecture :)

I honestly do not know why everyone is so negative towards Mr. Knapp! He is a SUPERIOR teacher! He gave me A's on most of my essays and is very organized. He is a funny teacher. I'm always laughing in his class. He can get boring but he's an all around excellent person to get to know! I took him for ENC1101 and 1102 and I would take him again!

He is a WONDERFUL professor! I've gotten A's on nearly every essay in his class. He assigns essays that are easy to relate to, and fun to write about. I recommend this class to anyone!

I took his online class. It was straight forward and if you do the readings you'll get an A on every assignment. My problem was he did not post grades throughtout the entire semester and when it came to the final I was not given a deadline so it was gone when I tried to go on to complete it. Had an A, now im hoping I passed. GPA's goin down though.

Professor Knapp is very approachable. If you do your homework and put effort into your work; it will pay off in the end. He is very funny and definitely a people person. I will take him for English two.

He didn't teach much. Everything I learned was at the ASC Lab at the college library. He gave us quizzes before even attempting to teach us the material. It didn't go to improving our grade but actually worked against it. He did his job the day before the final and taught us english grammar. Not an easy A! He is a fair grader on essay assignments.

Great teacher! Tells funny stories and the little quizzes are an easy A. Just read the material and you are good to go. He lets you use the book in class and you can share your answers with your neighbor. Essays are a breeze. Just avoid using the word "not" in any form and your are good to go. MLA format is a must.

He is funny and smart guy. I loved his class and he makes material easy to understand. Try to avoid the word "not". If you do your assignments and pay attention in class then you should be able to get at least B in class.

I had to retake ENC1101 last fall because of the last professor I had. I totally regret it the first time, but I'm glad that I basically got a second chance with Mr. Knapp. He's super helpful, and is very interested in your success. He was also a good person to have a conversation with. Do be prepared to work, though. He is fair with grading. :)

Excellent! Professor Knapp will suggest getting the Strunk and White Grammar book. Do it! It's $7.00 on Amazon and it is worth the money. He is the crossword puzzle master, so make sure your read your required reading before coming to class. The essays were good both the in class and the homework essays. I would take him again.

Use the help that's available on the second floor of the library. They helped me Ace every essay. He hands out crossword puzzles covering the short stories that you're assigned to read. He also went over everything in the final, so show up to class, pay attention, and get an easy A. We did one oral presentation and a few in class essays.

Very professional teacher. He is easy, but not very helpful. You go to class and you just do little puzzles, grammar quizzes, and in class writings. Keeping an A is hard if you are not good with grammar but he does enough assessments in class to at least have you pass. Papers are big in this course and they could easily make your grade or fail you

Good teacher, English just is not my strong subject. He is not a tough grader, and will allow you to make up missed assignments, only if you ask him. Tests are tough, but if you read the required literature it makes them a little bit easier.

Not a tough grader, going to class is a must. Most assignments are in-class.

Professor Knapp is a good, organized teacher and posted grades on blackboard regularly. He gives pop quizzes, little crosswords, and in class essays so it is important to show up. Just show up and do assigned readings and you should be fine.

Pretty good teacher, if you do your work you'll most likely pass. The essays were a bit tough for me, but he gives good feedback and as long as you show up you'll likely pass his quizzes and tests.

Did very little work and fell asleep during in class lectures. However lots of homework and long essays. He is very lax and is very flexible. MUST READ BOOK TO PASS TESTS

Mr. Knapp clearly cares for the wellbeing of his students and only expects for you to put in some effort. Make sure to do all the reading assignments. They're not bad at all but just do it because you can get a pop quiz any day on them. He doesn't grade very harshly and is quite an understanding person that is accessible after class.

I almost dropped the class when I heard it was a lot of Shakespeare, I really dislike Shakespeare. Professor Knapp, was great, he made it easy. His tests where easy if you did the reading and listened in class. We had 3 essays, 2 oral presentations (which I am really bad at), and a 2000 word research paper. He is an easy grader for sure.

Come to class, do the assignments and you will pass. He gave us a lot of chances to increase grades and gave a lot of open book "quizzes" Final exam was online even thought the class was in person, but no Assessment center. Was helpful and answered questions, I will be taking him again with subsequent classes.

I had him over summer A unexpectedly but I was glad that I learned a lot from this professor. He is very patient with all his students, brings life to the class by telling some jokes, and is very well-respected. There is nothing bad I could say about this professor other than recommend the readers to have professor Knapp as your English professor.

I am taking his ENC1101 class this semester and he is by far one of my favorite professors i have hat at irsc. He will tell you what you did wrong on almost all assignments, which many teachers dont do. He is also a very easy grader i have a 97 in his class(English has never been my strong suit). I highly recommend him.

Professor Knapp is relaxed and understanding. He grading criteria is simple and practical. He gives specific feedback on your strengths and weaknesses, with enough time to correct your mistakes between each assignment. I wouldn't hesitate to take another class with him.

He was very kind and understanding throughout the whole semester. When he made a mistake or couldn't figure something out, he actually took responsibility or didn't pin it on the students. He's a super easy grader, but gives really good feedback. I believe he made me a better writer and didn't add anymore stress to this semester.

Steven Knapp was very kind and helpful in his comments and feedback. He cares about his students and genuinely wants to help them. None of the assignments were overwhelming but it was enough work to make you feel like you were learning. He is a very fair grader. I would definitely recommend him.

I had Professor Knapp for ENC1101 and really enjoyed him. I specifically looked for him for ENC1102 and I'm so grateful I did. There is a decent amount of reading for the assignments but that was expected and it was all very interesting. He is both helpful and encouraging when giving you feedback. He absolutely made me a better writer.
