Prof. Kreft is extremely clear in his explanations, great class!!
does the best he can to take a completely boring class and make it more fun and interesting. lots of bonus points and easy tests!
Good guy. Go into his office hours and he'll tell you what you need to know.
Awesome guy! Very smart and funny, manages to keep your attention. Even though the material is so boring, he makes it fun.
Class is easy tests are hard.
Kreft is hard...his tests are very dificult and tricky. He is also a VERY hard grader on his homework and assignments, and his final is cumulative. There is another asian professor that teaches G202...my friends had him, and he's a lot easier and his final isn't cumulative...so take the other guy!
If you go to class and pay attention, you should have no problem in his class. Everything comes straight from his lectures and a few short readings which he goes over most of anyway. Easy bonus points from going to class and taking all of the quizzes.
I liked this class better when it was called E201, E202, and L201. Not much new material, he's a joker but seems angry he has to teach such a huge group. Not helpful outside of class

Least pretentious prof at Kelley

teh man
The materials are interesting and logical. He's nice and explains well. The exams are multiple choices, so if you miss a few, you're screwed. His exams can be somewhat confusing.
Most material is review, makes it pretty interesting though. Grades somewhat tough on homework, but the tests aren't bad, and as long as you understand the concepts you will be fine.
Fun class. Highly recommended. Attend all his lectures for pop up extra credit quizes. Also understand his lecture slides to get good grades.
fun guy. go to class and everything is easy. he is tricky on tests though. he will also give u the answers to homework in office hours
Fun class. Fun examples.
This class isnt really worth your time, even though you have to take it for Kelley. Kreft makes some good jokes, but hes a boring lecturer, grades ridiculously on HW, and is unprofessional and seems annoyed to help you on HW in office hours. My least favorite class this semester.
Great teacher. Class is very easy if you actually go. He makes it interesting with some redic examples that you will remember come test time The book is only used for case studies, if you borrow some one elses to read them you'd be fine
G202 is structured in a away that will allow you to learn the system after the first unit and dominate the class. Kreft seems like a great guy in class but was very abrasive in his office hours if you didn't show that you spend some serious time studying the material.Kreft had some interesting, funny examples but this class should not be required.
Fun class. Great Professor. Attend the class.
Great teacher, possibly my favorite thus far. He has great examples that are hilarious and helpful. The whole class sometimes just seems like watching a standup routine. Tests are extremely easy, homework isn't bad if you have a smart group (you choose your group), and there's a good amount of extra credit. Best Kelley Pre-Req class.
this is good teacher
Class is pretty easy. Get him as your teacher for the class. Study the PowerPoints and memorize everything on there and you should be good for the tests. Go to class for the extra credit pop quizzes and also because he is a really funny teacher. Gives a lot of great examples that will come in handy.
He's a decent prof who gives decent lectures. He wasn't terribly engaging and didn't make the material that much more interesting, but he is a very competent professor who grades in a timely manner. He is sometimes a little harsh with the partial credit deductions.
He was completely helpful and makes extra office hours available to students. He makes class interesting with personal stories that relate to the material and explains concepts well. I also feel I better understand microeconomics concepts better after this class than before taking it. He is great!
Best lecturer I've had in the B-School thus far. Class format is clear and makes it easy for student to succeed. His lectures are like stand-up comedy and a great way to get extra credit.
Kreft is hysterically funny. If only all teachers had a sense of humor like his...I don't remember a day in class where I wasn't laughing at some point. While the material may not be interesting for everyone, class lectures are a good time had by all and usually include some techno, laughing, and dance action.
Amazing professor for G202. Hilarious and entertaining. Anyone who can make 170 kids consistently show up voluntarily for what is basically an economics course is a great professor.
I love this man. Funniest guy ever, and he's adorable. Tests aren't hard, just be sure to memorize the slides. Best part? He will remind you about all free food action on campus and save you lots of money.
Funny and entertaining professor. One of the few classes I enjoyed going to! Tests can be tricky, but study the cases and lecture notes and you're on your way.
He is a funny, friendly, and helpful teacher. Gives some extra credit. Tests are a little harder than you'd expect, so make sure you take good notes, read the cases, and also read the optional packets. Case discussions are easy as long as you read and get in the forums early.
He looks like an entertaining, helpful, & knowledgeable guy at the first time. But be aware! he is the type of person who smiles and stabs you in the back at the same time. Test can be extremely hard for someone. Also it should be a 3 credit course. Office hour is helpful sometime but when he is in a bad mood he can be very disrespectful.
Really easy class, straight-forward exams, awesome material, easier version of E202, great and relevant cases, a lot of extra credit opportunity, and a lot of enjoyable pranks and jokes along the way. Yay G202 World!
Not a difficult class but certainly not a blow off class. The tests are anything but straightforward but if you study and read the optional readings then you should be able get a B if not an A. Likes to say "free pizza action" a lot. Gives extra credit quizzes on random days although you can figure out the days he'll give them after the 2nd test
I would go back and sit in on one of his classes because he is so funny. It's an interesting class, but it's no slouch. Be warned, the exams get harder as the course goes on. Also, really take your time on the online case discussions because it can hurt your grade. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the xtra credit quizes and jokes are worth going for
i honestly thought he was kind of an a**hole. the class was cool but and he was funny during the lecture but during office hours he seemed very a**holish.
he was a funny guy and very caring. the class was not hard either. going to his office hours before exams helps a lot. but what's really weird is that he was so serious in office hours that you can't believe that was the same person who teaches your class. overall i think he is very good and recommend you to take his class.
He's really funny in class and presents a lot of economic principles humorously. Don't be fooled into thinking that this class is just "econ-lite" as I have heard it called. He deliberately words the questions on the test so that you have to read them really carefully. He posts the questions online so download them whenever you can!
After taking his class I have considered BEPP as my major. He makes the subject unbelievably interesting and fun. I hated econ before this class but he made it very tangible and interesting. Best professor I've had yet.
He is my favorite professor in IUB. He is extremely funny and smart (super smart). Go to the lecture usually and he will give unannounced quizs, and go to his office hour before the exam(important), and you will be fine!
Awesome teacher..super laid back. Easy material and he explains it very well. He holds TONS of voluntary office hours, even two hours before the test on Sundays. I would go to all of these as they are super helpful. On top of fairly easy tests, there is extra credit if you go to class. Interesting stuff..more concept than memorizing.
Hysterical teacher that gives fair tests but the class isn't as easy as people say it is
Funniest teacher I have had in a while. Lectures were always full, which is surprising, so you know he does a great job teacher. He makes the material very interesting and helps you understand it better wit his humor and examples. I will stop by some of his classes and just listen to him teach and crack jokes. Overall a great guy and a great tea
Great teacher. Made the class interesting and worth attending. You never know what randomness will happen each class(getting pied, DJ, etc.). I would recommend going to his group office hours the day or two before each test.
Funny guy. Tests are harder than you would expect. Interesting class overall.
Awesome guy, class is very entertaining. The tests aren't too hard if you pay attention and can grasp overall concepts.
Classes were interesting, forums were easy. Attendance not mandatory, but you get several EC points if you're present for all the quizzes - enough to bump you up a grade. Tests definitely need to be studied for, don't blow them off because the material seems easy.
Awesome teacher. He knows the material and explains it well. Definitely go to class! Besides being a great professor, he has a great sense of humor and you'll never be bored.
My favorite class to attend!
Love him! Very entertaining class!
My favorite instructor in IU!!! His class always fun! You will learn a lot of useful things
Kreft is a funny guy who makes lectures entertaining. Unfortunately he doesnt teach what will be on the exam. You have to go to review session to be able to do the questions on the exam. He offers tons of extra credit and the forum posts arent too bad as long as you put some thought into them. Tests dont reflect what youve learned in class
Very fun and enthusiastic professor that makes the content very interesting! Exams get progressively harder though, and its hard to know what exactly is on them. Go to the office hours before exams.
Really great instructor. No textbook, but you have to purchase online courses, which are cheap. Hilarious lectures, very engaging, one of the best professors I've had so far. Highly recommended.
Hilarious dude who is always engaging when subject matter isnt always. He gives a TON of EC as long as you show up. Tests are of moderate difficulty but easy if you study (3-4 hours tops) Has office hours EVERY SINGLE day before a test to help kids. Textbook is like $35 too. Fantastic teacher
Steve is a decent professor. He keeps things interesting and is pretty funny at times. Because there is no textbook, you really should attend lecture every day because there are points you will be tested on that are not explained well in online resources. He needs to explain the charts in his power points better. They are mostly economic concepts.
Steve struck me as a good guy and O.K. professor. He gave ample extra credit, made lectures entertaining, and was extremely willing to help outside class. That said, I learned more in the review sessions than I did in class. Really, the only reason to attend class is for the extra credit; try to find somebody in an early class to alert you of EC.
I highly recommend this class. Prof Kreft made each day worthwhile – he related lessons to his life experiences, told riveting stories, turned extra credit quizzes into game shows, and actually taught a great deal of content. If you pay attention, do the in-class extra credit quizzes, and use his study guides, the exams are very manageable.
Kreft is an excellent professor! His class is dynamic and he is hilarious. If you attend class and take notes you will for sure make a good grade. The tests are not that hard if you read carefully.
Very knowledgable and engaging professor. Frequently responds during lecture and provide comprehensive and instructive feedback while encouraging further discussion
Everyone else nailed it. Steve is great, and this is not a difficult class if you show up most of the time.
Steve is a great teacher. In this class you will have lectures on course knowledge and case studies, and he does an amazing job integrating the cases studies into your current course topics. He is also keeps lectures very entertaining, I never saw a kid fall asleep. Just make sure you attend all lectures, they are great and necessary to get an A.
Steve Kreft is probably the funniest professor at IU. You'll love his lectures and his sense of humor. There's basically no work involved in the class, but the tests are hard since there isn't a textbook. I would definitely recommend Kreft though!
not difficult exam but make sure to attend classes and read the cases.
Kreft's lectures are very entertaining. He has an impeccable flow and comedic timing. His tests are difficult. If you want a good grade, go to every lecture and go to at least one review session for every exam.
Good professor.
Kreft makes the subject so interesting due to his great sense of humor. One of the funniest classes I have had so far, he doesn't take attendance but it is highly recommended and every class is packed because people enjoy attending it and laughing. Gives ample extra credit. Tests can be a little difficult so make sure to attend a review session
The topics actually sticks in your mind. Kreft is super funny and actually is a great professor. He not only makes his topic both relevant and engaging, but also does thorough discussions over the concepts and topics. I would recommend you go to all the classes and enjoy it. Best class ever in the KSB!! Would take it again !!
Kreft is one of my favorite teachers. His lectures are great and he is really funny. Tests are hard, and there aren't many points to offset them. Lectures are just powerpoint slides. I would definitely take him for any class.
He's totally cool with his Adidas outfits. But, I think he does not always explain everything clearly. Even though most of the exam questions are from the slides, some of those really need deepest understanding about the whole things. If you're about to take this class, please pay closely attention to the important points from the case studies!
Awesome teacher. Highly recommended for G202. Just come to class and pay attention. Read and understand the slides. Definitely read the case studies and case updates.
You can't go wrong with kreft. Easy but interesting class.
Kreft is hilarious. Class is always interesting and entertaining. Tests are 40 question multiple choice (which can make it difficult get into the "A" range), but by no means unreasonable. Great class with a great teacher.
Great professor. He keeps your interest for the entire lecture (all of which should be attended, as the course moves quickly) and is funny throughout. Tests are tough, but the review sessions help immensely. Random extra credit quizzes during lectures, so don't miss out!
Good professor, but can be extremely condescending in one-on-one situations
Professor Kreft is great for online classes in Economics at Indiana University's Kelley Direct program. He has extremely engaging lectures. He partner with Professor Ellie Kreft and they did a great job at team teaching. I would highly recommend for C530.
Steve's a really cool guy and this is a great course. It's very different from your typical business class and I really appreciate the different perspectives that we get with this course. He's a really cool guy and has a different lecturing style than most other professors.
Hilarious Professor! Go to his office hour before exam, and you will pass.
Very clear grading system. Class required a lot of reading. Recorded lectures kept to length specified. Attendance was not mandatory. Group assignment due every week.
Great guy and the subject is much more interesting with him. Probably the best professor at kelley
He made the course requirements very clear and if you asked for help, he was more than happy to provide it. As others have said, he made the material much more interesting and was pretty funny. The tests were tricky but fair.
Steven has an amazing style of teaching, and the lectures are phenomenal. This is that one class, where attendance isn't compulsory, but still students come. Will definitely recommend him.
Steve is a fantastic professor. Great at appealing to his class and making the material enjoyable. Great class, would take again if I could.
Steven is a great person-- funny, smart, and engaging. The material isn't necessarily hard, but it is imperative that you go to the review sessions. There will be things on the exam that weren't gone over in class. But if you attend the review sessions, do all of the extra credit and assignments, and study, you will be fine!
Kreft is a great lecturer but the whole class is confusing. I can't tell you one thing I actually learned from taking the class. The tests were tough and you have to understand what he's talking about. You must attend class because that's where you get the notes.
Kreft is an awesome guy who does a great job keeping you engaged during lectures. The class he teaches however is rather pointless. Many times throughout the semester people asked me what G202 was about and I honestly couldn't answer it. The tests are super confusing cause you have no idea what he's gonna throw on it.
Kreft is a great lecture and his classes were never dull. However, the class is mainly graded on the tests which can be very difficult. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you need to show up to get a good grade. The class itself is rather pointless though. I got nothing out of it.
Steven Kreft is the best professor at Kelley. Awesome lectures and learned so much. This class is mostly discussion and was my favorite class at IU.
The class is essentially Microeconomics but delves into how government regulation can impact large business and the economy. There is a minor homework load. He keeps the class very engaged through his jokes but make sure to have your phone on silent. Yes there are only 3 tests, but the answers are in red on ppt, in practice exam, and review session
Overall really great professor. Gives you every opportunity to earn a good grade but you will have to work for it.
Kreft makes class fun by playing music, adding humor, and telling stories. He's by far one of my favorites. He connects with students without trying too hard. Study the PowerPoints and do the practice tests. The exams take 1 hour instead of 2 and are not hard if you study. There is extra credit before exams.
Really nice guy and rounds up grades at the end. Going to class is definitely really helpful but not mandatory. The tests are tricky, but the discussions help to boost your grade. Can get a B pretty easily but difficult to get an A.
Kreft is a really great professor and his lectures are definitely entertaining. He tells the funniest stories and is always willing to help in office hours. If you pay attention in class and read the cases you'll get a good grade.
Steve is awesome. His lectures are hilarious and he always finds real life situations that apply to the material. Go to class and do the readings and you'll get an A.
Genuinely enjoyed going to class. Professor Kreft made class interesting and used great examples to keep the class engaged. Hilarious. Helpful outside of class. Use the practice problems he gives you and there will be no issue on tests.
Steve is my least favorite professor I've ever had. Everyone loves him and I have no idea why. His jokes are entirely canned and aren't funny, his attempts to be relatable are cringe-worthy, and when I asked questions one-on-one, he was dismissive, rude, and unhelpful. The quality of his instruction is neither great or bad, but I dreaded his class.
Great guy and absolutely hilarious lectures. Class isn't hard as long as you attend the case debrief days and pay attention during lecture. There's also a ton of extra credit.
The class is fairly straightforward. The tests are actually quite tricky and its hard to get over say a B+ on them but there are tons of extra credit opportunities that make up for it. He is a very cool guy. Never seen so much energy in a professor.
Best Professor so far at Kelley. The guy explains exactly how to study and what to study for his exams. While he does change the wording around and make some things more difficult than they should be, he is overall amazing at getting through to his students and is the best at keeping his students engaged I have seen thus far at IU.
I took Professor Kreft online as part of the KD program curriculum. By far he has the best online class management skills of any course I've taken. He is very comfortable on video and has a great knack for engaging the class in a virtual setting. Exams are tough, so keep up with the assignments and prepare for tests. My favorite prof so far.
He has very funny jokes in lecture and does a great job explaining things with examples. Attendance is not mandatory but you will be heavily tested on what was said during class. Taking notes and reviewing before exams would translate into an A
Kreft is hilarious and an awesome professor. HOWEVER, I would NOT take this class second semester because he is notorious for placing an exam the day after quals (basically a holiday on IU's campus). I wish I knew this before registering for the class.
Fantastic Professor with great lectures. Hes one of those professors that you would want to get to know. Hes got a lot of knowledge to share, just make sure you go to every class and do all the readings.
Not great. Class isnt too difficult, but my grade got worse the more I went to class. Class is mandatory for Kelley, but he clearly puts in next to no effort into his lectures. Too focused on being the cool and funny professor as opposed to actually teaching.
I love how he uses real life examples and stories in class. He is super energetic, explained things well, and is hilarious. Overall, a super cool dude and an awesome professor. Show up to class, take good notes, and participate in the online discussions and you'll do fine. Exams are a bit difficult, but only if you don't study for it/take notes.
I'm an international student at IU. I try to perform well in this class but I find myself lost at last... Once he throw a topic he talked in class on the exam, and I have completely no idea what it is about although I attended every class. But if you are a English-first student, definitely choose his class. He's humorous.
Professor Kreft was one of my favorite professors- he has a lot of experience teaching G202, so he knows how to structure the class while still making it entertaining. Even though attendance is optional, I suggest going to class because exams are largely based off of lectures. The 50 minutes twice a week is definitely worth going to.
Both profs for G202 are good but take Steve if you have a choice. Funny guy and makes it entertaining. Class itself is easy. No HW except a case discussion every 2 weeks (about 1 hr) and studying for tests. Most stuff is retaught from Micro. Lots of easy extra credit. Come to class & take good notes. Everything you need to know comes out his mouth.
I loved being in Steve Kreft's class. He's one of the few professors i've had that makes the class's content more meaningful through his personal experiences and stories. Very passionate and funny guy, and he explains the material pretty well.
Lectures are engaging but are necessary since details from lectures are on the exam.
So engaging! Was able to make real-world connections and material feel really relevant!
The teachers read off a script. The test questions are ripped straight from the provided slides. The teachers for g202 are bland, boring and frankly useless.
G202 is a pretty easy class- as long as you do the work and go to class, you'll get an A. Kreft's lectures are super engaging. He tells a lot of stories and jokes relevant to the material so that it really sticks. There is a case reading every week that you have to write a short (250 word) essay on, besides that there isn't any homework.
Steven and Ellie are good people and good profs! If you give this class a solid effort, you will do well. Their exam questions are literally quoted from the lecture slides so pay close attention to those!!! They also offer extra credit, which is always appreciated.
Hardest class based on 2 tests worst thing ever
Worst professor I have ever had. Steven and Ellie are heartless. Luckily I passed but if you got a 72.99, they wouldn't round your grade up to a C. Even if you were in the hospital, their class is more important. Next time, don't get in a car crash because you might miss the exam, quiz, or discussion. God forbid these professors cared abt students.
Stephen and Ellie are amazing professors. The length of time given for the exams is unrealistic, but overall it was a great course. To better prepare for exams I wish they could give additional optional memos that students can practice on.
I enjoyed this class as both Ellie and Steven are great professors. Exams are pretty easy as questions are from the slides and are often curved by 1-2 questions. Professor Kreft was very accommodating of exam rescheduling due to illnesses.
Ellie and Steven are really great professors. Provide great examples of the material and explain the lesson very clearly. The way the class is structured is phenomenal, providing students ample time to read, absorb, and drill down on the material. Very knowledgable and great at teaching. Only downside is that exams make up the bulk of your grade.
Not only is Steve a phenomenal professor, but this is also a great class! They tell you IMMEDIATELY that the exam questions are directly from lectures & lecture videos and extra credit quizzes, and boy is that the truth. Many questions are directly from EC quizzes to study those. I found all Steve's lectures engaging and loved going to class.
Steven is an amazing professor. He explains every concept learned in G202 to a depth, providing numerous examples and explaining material in ways that is understandable. All of the information on the exams are presented in the pre-recorded slides and extra credit quizzes. The class is so insightful if you come into it with the right mindset!
Solid instructor who managed to convey the core concepts and principles without needing the students to teach themselves via a lengthy reading list. Some reading from the textbook will be necessary, but the Kreft's do a good job summarizing the key takeaways in the recorded lectures and live sessions.
Kind people but poor teachers
Steven is an amazing professor! He is really knowledgeable on the subject matter of the class, and the class itself is very engaging. Although, the class is graded by only 4 assessment quizzes. To succeed in G202, you need to attend classes and watch the videos.
Super kind and knowledgeable about sustainability. Participation is really important either in class or in the canvas discussion. I really enjoyed his class and learned a lot, I definitely recommend.
Prof Kreft is a decent teacher, even if the class content is boring. Attendance is not required, just read his powerpoints and practice the extra credit quiz questions to prepare for the tests. Your grade mainly relies on 4 tests, so it's not ideal if you're a bad test taker. Otherwise it's a pretty straightforward class.
This class was solely based on 4 exams. They teach a certain way in class then use completely different wording and detailed questions on exams. I failed 3/4 exams and studied for hours. This is the only C in class I have ever gotten. Be ready to study a lot and go to lectures and listen carefully. Take every EC quiz you will need it.
Best professor at IU. He cares so much about what he teaches and it makes you excited to be a part of the discussions in class. There will never be a boring lecture and he always listens and loves to hear our perspectives. Hes just a great human man take him if you can.
Overall content was easy to understand. Explains very clearly what is expected out of the quizzes and homework assignments.
Both Steven and Ellie are the rudest, most passive-aggressive, and ignorant professors I have ever had in Kelley. The 3 quizzes are way beyond the scope of what is taught. Ur expected to teach yourself everything. They spend 90% of class time telling personal stories and 5% belittling students and 5 % teaching. Would recommend them being fired.
Steven and Ellie were great at the beginning of the year and I used to look forward to going to their class. However, after the midterm, theyve become passive aggressive towards students and it seems as though they're intentionally trying to trip students up on the quizzes. I think they're both overworked and take out their frustration on students
Steven Kreft was incredibly rude in email conversations. He gave me a terrible grade on my discussions because my "assignments were turned in too close to the deadline...", which is something I've never heard of in my life. My assignments were turned in on time, yet he docked me for points. If that doesn't sound crazy to you I don't know what will.
Class time was poorly used and you could easily skip classes and not miss out on much information by simply reading through the slides. Quizzes were pretty manageable due to the EC Quizzes being very similar at times. However, the case discussion questions on the quizzes were sometimes overly specific. Not exactly the nicest guy either
He was genuinely a funny guy, kept lectures fun and entertaining. However, the lectures for the most part are a waste of time - the same information is posted online so coming to class is optional. The quizzes can be really difficult if you don't study the right material - make sure to watch the office hours videos
Steven teaches the most random stuff that doesn't apply to this world. His wife is good, but he is beyond stupid. He uses the most stupid analogies that don't make sense. To put it in clash royale terms, he tries activating king tower against a firecracker but just loses a tower instead.
Nice person, bad professor. Class was useless and a repetition of the pre-recorded videos used so they didn't actually have to teach. Despite studying exactly the way they told us to, exams proved difficult and weren't much like the example questions given.
Steven is very knowledgeable and makes the content extremely easy to understand. Watch the prerecorded videos and make sure you understand the content for exams. They curve a lot and give extra credit. Ellie and Steven co-teach so it doesn't matter who you schedule with on iGPS. Loved the class, very doable to get an A!!
This class is easy if you watch the pre recorded videos and study the extra credit quizzes. The lectures were a repeat of these videos but I would recommend going to class when they went over the cases. Overall he seems like a smart and funny guy.
Prof. Kreft was overall a solid professor. G202 is a course that could be made very interesting, but the lectures are often a little boring. Other than the case discussions, you really don't need to go to class. They post videos online you need to watch before the exams.
Steven's lectures are more interesting and less pressure than Ellie's. He also knows his stuff well and if you plan on attending class, pick the days he is lecturing otherwise just look over the slides and the videos they post online and you will be fine. Study hard though since there are only 3 exams and they grading criteria isn't very clear.
Steven and Ellie were very lazy and rude. They only teach using online videos and waste class time by telling stories and calling out random students. Exams were only 30 minutes and extremely difficult. I did horrible on 2/3 exams and got my first ever C in any level of schooling. G202 was easily one of the worst classes I've ever taken at Kelley.
Steven is a much better lecturer than Ellie. He tends to be much more engaging and it's easier to understand the material that he's presenting. The exams are pretty much your whole grade, so take all of them really seriously, especially the first one.
The expectations set for the class were very clear. Each week you had lecture videos to watch, a multiple choice quiz, a memo assignment which they basically tell you how to do in the live session, and an article/discussion board. Definitely had to review for several hours for each exam, but they were all straight forward. Very enjoyable class.
this class is amazing if you want to explore sustainable business. the class and the prof made the topics so interesting and engaging, even if you're not into sustainability. Steven Kreft really values people's opinions so it's important to share those in class or on the online discussion to receive full credit for participation.
Neither Ellie nor Steven were engaging during their lectures or videos
I disliked this class so much as it felt like they never really cared about their students. I reached out for help and felt like they did not care about anything I tried. I would never take a class from him or his wife again. This class material isn't super hard but they made it hard for me.
I loved this class so much and I think anyone who can take it should. Professor Kreft has amazing insight and he really lets the discussions flow themselves. He is amazing and the course content is something that everyone should know. The whole class is based on discussion, so if you don't show up, you won't get anything out of it.
Much preferred over the other G202 professors. Steven kept the lectures super engaging with his anecdotes that never waned no matter how late the class was. His lectures on the class spotlight were very helpful to go to and those who showed up definitely did better on the exams. Steven is awesome and I'd recommend any class he teaches.
Much preferred over the other G202 professor. Steven kept the lectures super engaging and was funny. His spotlights are helpful and I would recommend going to class even though everything is accessible online and attendance isn't graded.
Better than the alternative. Funny and great, can't say the same about his wife but you learn to get over it. Really study for the exams and you will be fine.
I like Steven more than Ellie, he is more sympathetic. That being said you have to take this class with the both of them anyways, so it doesn't matter. Their lectures and slides are better than Powells, and most likely the best you can get for this class. Please please take it with them because it is the best option!!!
If you wouldn't like two different professors that both don't answer emails as well as not being good at teaching other than their online videos, then don't take the kreft's together. Although the course subject is relatively easy, they made the class much more difficult than it should've been.
Steven's lectures were always engaging and he would often tell funny stories during them. I always felt like I gained something from being in class, can't say the same for Ellie's lectures and I ended up rarely ever going, just looking over the PowerPoints on my own. G202 is a pretty easy class if you stay on top of readings and study.
Steven is the rudest and most passive-aggressive professor I have ever had in my entire life. He did not care about my accommodations and I was crucified for a mistake. If you do not want to feel about 2 inches big, do not take them. This professor is unwilling to actually educate and is just there for the paycheck. I recommend them being fired!
Steven is a really good lecturer. He jokes a lot to keep your attention. Him and Ellie are very transparent from the start about what you need to do to succeed (which is not much). Ellie gets unfairly compared to Steven but she really is not that bad. I have heard that they do not answer emails but they provide so much info that I understand why.
Tests were pretty hard and although I went everyday that didn't help. It makes no sense to have him and his wife teach the class. She is mean during class and he is mean after class, maybe they're the perfect match because of it. Both are pretty smart but the class is a below average experience that's frustrating.
I LOVE STEVE! Best class & best professor at IU/Kelley! Such a kind and caring guy. He made every class super entertaining and it was definitely the most useful class that I've taken. He challenges you to think about sustainability from various perspectives and encourages everyone to participate. Class is small so you have the opportunity to talk.
Prof. Kreft is one of my favorite profs. I've had at IU. He is extremely reasonable and lets you know where you can improve. His class is also very discussion-based. He makes sure everyone gets a chance to speak, and he tries to make you see things from multiple perspectives. I would 100% recommend taking any class taught by him, especially G316.
Steven is a terrible professor, and also not a nice guy. He is passive aggressive and hardly responds to emails. Exams are the entirety of your grade and are so tricky that you miss entire questions because of one word. I genuinely think both him and his wife should be fired, because they clearly don't care about their students or teaching.
Overall, he is a good professor. He makes the class interesting and funny. But that said, the grade is mainly based on tests. They make the test very confusing and tricky and you can lose points easily. They barely curve the tests compared to the other professors (The highest curve was an extra 1.5 points).
One of the funniest professors I've had at IU. However, the class is extremely challenging. Make sure to redo the top hat and extra credit questions. Disables canvas grade total which is extremely annoying.
Steven does the best he can with a pretty boring class. Exams are easy and attendance is required but Steven is funny and does care.
Steven is a good teacher for a rather boring class. He teaches it with his wife, Ellie, but does a far better job than she does. He has some funny lectures, but the class is 75% tests, and they are all very hard. Great teacher, just a poorly designed class.
This was the class I was most concerned about taking and it ended up being my favorite class of the term! This prof makes difficult material super accessible by thoroughly explaining and demonstrating problems and clearly delineating expectations; uses real-life examples that make it easy to connect to and remember the material. Super funny!
The Professor Kreft is very humorous and engaging, often using vivid and interesting examples from his life to help students understand complex theoretical concepts. Moreover, he teaches very well, and I highly recommend taking his class.
His lectures are fantastic, he drills the concept into you through a joke, it makes the course so much easier. Just put your phone away and listen.
I love his lectures, he keeps you engaged and really makes sure you know the content through stories and funny jokes. The course is SUPER exam heavy, but they give you all the materials needed to study. As long as you put in the time to study, you will do fine. He works alongside his wife Mafi-Kreft.
G316 Sustainable Enterprise - chill but stressful. Split 50-50 Kelley/O'Neill kids and differing viewpoints are debated. Not much busy work. However, in-class participation forms the bulk of your grade and is curved against your classmates. They rate your in-class yaps (literally) – you rate theirs; stand strong and participate if you want an A.
Steve was a great lecturer and provided all the information you needed during class. All the exams are based on the PowerPoints, don't necessarily need to read the cases. Exams were very difficult. Lots of studying will be needed to get a good grade in the class.
Would take again and recommend professor. Class was very clear and felt tests matched lecture and given all resources to do well on tests. Liked not having to read from a textbook. No final was nice although class was test heavy. You're grade does reflect the effort you put it. If you put in the effort can do well in the class.
Not a hard class at all but theyre both really reluctant to help. whenever I would have a question, they would always tell me to figure it out on my own or get offended by what I was asking. Not really sure how my questions were offensive if they were abt the homework but they thought they were. really interesting class just poorly taught
Bro is the funniest guy of all time. His stories are hilarious. I spend most of his lectures cracking up. I can't stand his wife though. Maybe its time for him to start a solo career.
Steven you are amazing (sorry the wife drags you down I second the idea of you going solo big dog). You only stay sane in G202 because his lectures are fun, engaging, and interesting. He walks around the class lecturing with an almost standup comedian-like cadence, making even the most mundane topics enjoyable. Can't wait for Ellie to be fired.
Steven genuinely has no care for his students. It could be a question about setting up an office hour appointment and he will respond with a generic email from the syllabus simply saying no. He doesn't want you to do well, and he will say it straight to your face- even if it depends on getting in to I-Core.
Professor Kreft was pretty lecture heavy with the spotlights that he gave for G202 but I feel that he did a really good job of summarizing what we needed to know and that allowed me to be successful for the G202 exams.
While his lectures really just cover the quizzes, he takes his time to explain the answers and let you ask as many questions as you can. His course direction is super clear and he communicates well. I would take this guy for every class if possible....
Steven was a really good professor overall he was able to talk about the mostly boring content in an engaging way. It's a shame he only teaches for one day of the week, and Ellie takes over for the other. The tests in this class are nitpicky but not too bad with some work put in. The test curves add like 3% to your overall grade which is cool.
The way the Kreft's run their class is a complete joke. They do not assist their students what so ever. They plead with students to attend class while making attendance/participation have little to no effect on your grade. They talk down to their students and have a horrible attitude towards their students. They will not even answer your emails.
The Kreft's were some of the most inconsiderate professors I have ever had. The Kreft's want their students to fail. They do not do anything to help improve grades in a class based almost fully on tests. They try their hardest to catch kids cheating and even go as far as to take matters publicly and make an example out of them in front of the class
The Krefts who co-taught this class were incredible. Study, do the quizzes, and do the homework, and you will do well on the two exams. I would take them 100 times out of 100. They are really awesome teachers.
Krefit is one of the most inconsiderate and disrespectful professors I've had—easily among the worst in Kelley. Kreft isn't funny, unless you find calling out students mid-lecture and mocking them amusing. Dismissive, rude, and unhelpful when asked questions. Exams are 75% of the grade and cover material not taught in class. 100% needs to be fired.
They straight up want you to fail. I tried to email them to get support, but they refused. Krefts are extremely discouraging professors. The class is built almost entirely on unfair exams with unclear material. They're dismissive, unhelpful, and create an uncomfortable environment where students feel set up to fail rather than supported to learn.
Started the class with 0 knowledge, and ended the class feeling well-informed. There are weekly self-test quizzes (8/10 gives full participation points) and really prepare you for the exam. Memo assignments were applicable to real-world situations, & discussion prompts allowed us to critically think about macroeconomic issues - overall great class
Not much to say. He is funny, engaging, and knowledgable. Class just isn't the best.
His parts of the lecture were really engaging, and helped me a lot when preparing for the tests.
he picks on students, and makes dated or flat out inappropriate comments and references frequently i cannot stand him
Everyone complaining here is just crying because they do not study enough. The class is strict yes, and they may not be flexible, but they are definitely fair. Everything is mentioned clearly in the guides and they are not unfair in any way. It is not an easy class for sure but everything is in the slides.
I feel they were not fair and hated this class take the other professor option if you are smart.
No matter if you take him or ellie. they both will teach one of the lectures every week. Just print out the ppts and study for the exam. focus heavy on exam 1, that will change your grade if you do bad !!
