he is a great teacher! i loved him!! he is VERY helpful. he is a great Christian, and loves talking about his family and church. GREAT TEACHER AND GUY!

He basically outlines what he wants and either you do it and get an A the first time or you get a C- and have to rewrite it! Journals are easy points. Final is a rewrite! He talks A LOT. Basically never get out early. But it's easy.

Dr. Lance is a very helpful professor. Be prepared to write papers about southern culture. He also loves papers full of contravery and gossip. He is overall pretty easy and always gives rewrites. He tries to be humorous, during classes all you do is talk about your current paper. Loves long papers.

He is an awesome teacher. Class time seems a little pointless unless he's talking to you, but he is very helpful with choosing topics for you to write on. Plus he gives you a rewrite on every paper! If you need any extra help just ask, he's a "FINE AMERICAN" he'll help you.

Nice guy. Funny and very talkative! =) He'll help you with ANYTHING. Papers were pretty straightforward and class was always enjoyable. I'd definitely take him again if I could, he cares a lot about his students.

This guy is a very cool teacher! If you mess up on a paper talk to him and you will get to rewrite it. He will tell you what you need to put in the paper to get an A. Great class keeps it interesting plus he is willing to help you.

Dr. Lance is nice and helpful. He let you write about any subject that interested you. He will read parts of your paper outloud. He also liked to browse the internet and send e-mails to the class during class. His class was super easy, but it was fun for a required class. Dr. Lance is definately the guy to take for Academic writing and research!

He is a sweet guy who tries to be funny and make the classroom environment very light.Good teacher, yet still easy.Not an overload of work, but still enough to give you a grade.I would definatly reccommend him, whether you like to write or not.

I love Dr. Lance and enjoyed his class, but he talks about his religion way too much! His conversations in class are personal, funny and laid back, but I was made uncomfortable several times due to his religious comments. I thought this was a public university and that stuff was a no-no.

Dr. Lance is a "Fine American". I generally hate writing classes but Lance made it worth while. I think we only turned in like three papers and you get to rewrite them until you get a grade you're satisfied with. Class is extremely laid back, you will most definitely have a great time.

Dr. Lance is an amazing teacher and the finest of Americans. He honestly cares about his students and will go well above the norm to help them out. I highly recommend taking at least one of Dr. Lance's classes.

He is extremely funny. He does not care what you write about as long as it is interesting, but do not leave out details because he wants you to include the full story. We are writing 4 papers this semester and you get to rewrite for a higher grade. Overall, I liked him as a professor and I am taking him for WRTG 1320 next semester.

Dr. Lance is a very fair, fun teacher. Took his class in Fall 2012, and I miss his sense of humor. Class participation is required through class discussions, and he takes attendance daily. He will accept papers and assignments late. One of the best teachers at UCA.

The method of classroom discussion and peer review used for this class appeals to me. I think his approach is very beneficial to an entry level writing course. It helps you get better without feeling attacked. Dr. Lance is one of the best professors I've had, and I am so thankful I ended up in his class by chance alone. Take him. Definitely.

Amazing teacher!. Usually a class period will consist of him picking a student's paper to analyze the whole period. This can be stressful bc he is a harsh critic and it's in front of everybody but he is very helpful. Make sure to show that you put in a lot of effort to revise the final draft. he has you highlight all your changes.

He was amazing! He's no the typical writing teacher you usually have. There is a lot of work that need to happen in order yo make an A in his class. Paper are more about you which makes it easier to write. I made an A in his class so I did not have to take the final exam. Would take again in a heat beat! By far best teacher I've had!

I took his class for my first semester, comp 1 and I retook him again for comp 2. One thing awesome about him is that he does tell you what he wants you to do. Most of Comp teachers just read books and try to explain them but he doesn't. He makes our essays very personal so it's easy to write.

Dr. Lance is the best professor I have ever taken. He is not easy, and he demands excellence. He will make you a better writer than even you thought you could be. Even if you think you understand the subject matter, visit him in his office hours. Be prepared to work hard, but if you put in the work, he will reward. It's as simple as that

He is a tough grader, but he wants you to do well. There is a rewrite for every essay. We had 3 essays and I ended up making an A on all of them due to his help and rewrites. GREAT PROFESSOR!

Dr. Lance cares about his students. He is easy to talk to, funny, and gives good feedback and advice. He loves to talk so go in to his office hours to talk and get help. Dr. Steven is my favorite professor so far. I wish I could have him for comp 2. He is very clear on what to include in the papers; some of the things are optional but do them anyways and you will ace your papers. Super helpful and gives plenty of time to write your papers. Three papers total and you get a rewrite for each. He is super helpful.

Wonderful professor! At first I did not like his teaching style, but I grew to love it- especially when my other classes gave out hw. At times his lectures were very redundant, but important. Being in Dr. Lance's class improved and elevated my writing skills I struggle with. Overall, amazing class, amazing professor. Fun to talk to. Take him!

The best English teacher I have ever had!

Dr. Lance is by far my favorite professor. He is relaxed, accepting, funny, and kind. His lectures can sometimes get repetitive but it really is helpful. You need to listen to lectures to pass, so no skips. Only 3 essays all semester. Very helpful and his personality just makes you feel welcome in class. Would take 10x over.

I hate writing the most, but he makes me fall in love with writing and makes a 10 pages essay seems so easy. There are only 3 papers total and you are allowed to rewrite your paper. He will do like this scaffolding assignments every day, which are the things that needed to be on the paper. So basically, he helps you write your essay. TAKE HIM!!!

If you show that you care at all in his class it makes it very easy. He allows you to rewrite your papers, and you can setup conferences with him to talk about how to fix them. The only con to his class is his grading. He takes quite long to grade the papers but there is not much to worry about if you just turn them in with some effort.

Dr. Lance is a hilarious and easy-going professor. He is very thorough in his feedback and would love for you to strike up a conversation at any time. He is ready to answer any questions you may have and greatly encourages you to do so. You won't regret taking any of his classes.

Professor Lance is a good professor. I would definitely take him again. You only write three papers and he gives you a rewrite for every one after he grades your rough draft. Helloes to have a conversation, so I'd chat with him. Even if you're not a talkative person in class if you just show up and work hard you will receive a good grade.

Professor Lance likes to talk a lot in class, and clearly states what he wants in the 3 papers you will write over the semester. If you pay attention in class and show up more than skip, you will make a good grade.

I absolutely would take another class with him. At first it's very hard to tell exactly what he expects out of your writing but all you need to do is write at least 7 pages, be VERY descriptive, and whenever he says he likes something do it! He's very helpful in his office hours and over all a very sweet man.

Professor Lance is pretty quirky, but if you engage with his specific teaching style, the class isn't too bad. The essay rewrites help, and unstuck study was a lifesaver for study prep.

My favorite professor at this campus. Such a kind soul and willing to learn new things. Attendance isn't for a grade, however, it is essential you come so you know what he's expecting in your essay. He does not post notes from lectures.

Dr. Lance is hands down one of the best professors on campus. He is hilarious and cares for his students. You will write 3 main papers that are pretty lengthy, but he offers rewrites after giving feedback. His expectations are very clear. You don't have to be a good writer to take this; you just need to put in the effort. He appreciates passion!

Dr. Lance is easily one of my favorite professors on campus! He is kind and truly cares about his students—he wants to see you succeed. While you are allowed up to six absences, he does appreciate students who come to class consistently & you really need to be there to know what he expects. There are only three papers for the whole semester.

Only three total papers over the course of the semester, all in which have clear guidelines. He provides good examples for what he expects. If you listen, show up and pay attention, you'll do fine on your papers. He offers rewrites which is very beneficial if he doesn't grade or fails your first draft. Gives good feedback.

Incredibly nice guy. Very easy to talk to and ask for help when your in need of help with anything. Class really only based off of 3 papers but gives rewrites if needed. Show up to class, interact with him and listen to what you have to do for the papers and the class should be smooth-sailing.

We only had 3 papers, and he doesn't use blackboard so your grade is based on your 3 papers. If you follow his instructions, which granted can be a tad bit hard to decipher, then you will be good. You don't really get much from the lectures but just go because that's where he'll explain how he wants his papers done. I'm taking him again for comp 2
