He provides a laid-backed learning atmosphere with engaging material. He knows the subject well, and offers easy extra-credit opportunities. Attend the lectures and take notes; you should do nicely.

Required a $50 text that he *never* used, saying in class that we should read the book someday so our "brains wouldn't get flabby". Spoke in everyday language in class (and on the board) but used technical language (the kind that is in that book that we didn't have to read) on the exams.

I took an online class with him. This class required a lot of reading. One book was a real tough read, so hard that I couldn't absorb what I read. He offers some notes. If you take this class, take it in person.

This was an online course that was easier than any other class that I have ever taken. There are no penalty for late assignments... and the tests are all open notes. If you can't get an A in this class than school must be really hard for you!

Great guy. He's really nice. Only downside is that he NEVER uses the book. Just take notes and you'll do fine on the quizzes. Don't even bother going to the bookstore for his texts.

A great teacher! Knows the subject cold. Speaks from no notes yet can repeat a lecture segment word-for-word a month later during the test review. Tolerant of even the most off-the-wall questions. Patient. Brilliant. Kind.

Easy going, cool, nice, mellow, sometimes boring but others very interesting. The class is very easy based on 3 tests. Highest scored test counts as half your grade, second highest 1/3, lowest test score 1/6.

Attendance isn't mandatory, the ONLY work we had all semester was 3 tests. There are a TON of extra credit things you can do. Cruise class. The only downside is that sometimes the stuff he talks about is crazy, and can be hard to comprehend. But overall a good professor though.

Fantastic professor;makes subject material interesting and usable in daily life even after completion of the course. Just attend class as much as you can and turn in writting assignments and you will do great! He even offers extra credit, so getting an"A" is extremely possible as long as you try.

AWESOME prof! sticks to his syllabus, uses the exam questions straight from the study guide questions. Lots of optional extra credit opportunities. Online class has the discussion area to get to know eachother & relevance to study guides. This was the best online experience throughout my 15+ online classes-def take another class from him again.

Took his online class. You just have to post 45 comment on the message board and take 3 exams. The grading scale is a better way to get a good grade. Its in your favor. Test are long. Study, Have notes. Then this class should be easy.

Your grade is based on 3 short and simple tests that mostly consist of true/false questions. The course focuses on the Asian religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Professor Laycock makes lectures boring by often telling multiple stories to make a single point. A very generous amount of extra credit is offered.

I took his online class. He provided no feedback regarding posts students made on the bulletin board. Instead, he encouraged students to visit him at his office, which those of us who work, hence take online classes, cannot do.

Great teacher and super easy for a writing intensive. Stories are a little boring but still a great teacher. Grade is based off 3 quizzes and a 1 page paper a week. Lots of room for extra credit. Take him though he is a good easy teacher!

(ONLINE CLASS) This class is very easy and does not take up a lot of time. If you need an easy credit, I recommend it. However, if you want to learn more than what is stated in the textbook- take a face-to-face class instead. Laycock is a much better teacher in person than on-line.

Professor Laycock is a very nice and down-to-earth kind of person. He is understanding and soft spoken. He does not require attendance and his exams are multiple choice. As a writing intensive course, it was super easy. He gave us a topic to write about each week, that was basically our own opinions (ex. peace, love, harmony, etc.). Take him!!!

Laycock is AWSOME! took his online class and all the assignments were pretty much your own opinions. Tests were easy, straight out of the book and multiple choice. This was probably the best online class I have ever taken. :)

Mr. Laycock is a truly amazing human being. He is passionate about what he teaches and genuinely cares about his students. His class is fairly easy to pass, tests are multiple choice and some classes don't have any assignments at all, but his teaching alone will make you want to show up and listen. Hands down the best professor I've had.

Very much a master of his subject, Prof. Laycock is a great lecturer and a compassionate, caring man. Do the reading, do the writing assignments, and come to class, you will do well. You will want to come to class for his lectures. It was never a chore, always something I looked forward to.

I took his online class. First time ever taking an online class and it was easy as ever. 3 quizzes about 100 questions for each.The second and third quizzes includes questions from the first quiz, so you know the answers. Super Easy! You can also retake quizzes to get a higher grade, which he calls extra credit.

Just completed his online course and it was EASY. Talk about simple all you have to do to pass this class is pass 3 test and thats it. He just requires you to read the books for each upcoming test. If you?re looking for simplicity and an easy A this class is for you. Highly recommended.

Really easy class. The work is straightforward-3 exams all due at the end of the semester and he provides the questions for each exam for you to read/find in the textbook. You can truly work at your own pace without worrying about weekly deadlines. Take this class for the easy A while you learn about other cultures.

Very EASY A! I took his online course this semester, NO HW, NO ASSIGNMENTS! Just 3 quizzes to do, which he even provides retakes for them. I didn't even need to buy his book (valued at $150-new). I prefer taking this ONLINE class for a SUPER EASY A!

All we have to do is take 3 quizzes online the whole semester. They are all due on the last day of instruction, and we can take them anytime. All the answers are online which really helps. Super easy class. Definitely take it!

Make sure that you that at the end of the semester your grades are correctly inputed on your transcripts. I had to remind instructor to double check all tests because 2 tests were missing on my grade book. Luckily, he fixed this, and I was finally assigned the appropriate grade, which was an A instead of a D,for both Rel 150 & Phil 100.

I was excited about the class in the beginning, we did a lot of group sharing. After the first 2 weeks, that turned into lectures. Some questions, but mostly if the students participate. You don't have to bring the books to class. He's an easy going guy. Very intelligent.

Took this class online. Professor Laycock has a clear grading criteria. Just have to read and study your materials. There is only 3 exams no homework. Each exam is worth 50-52 points which is each questions. Little tip do not procrastinate!! Other than that easy class!! Take him!!

Such a nice guy. Responds to emails so fast its unbelievable. Willing to do anything to help (including resetting quizzes you messed up on). READ THE BOOKS!!!!!!! Took the online course and dropped it after taking the first exam. He offers a study guide, but the questions on the exam are difficult and require you to understand the very concept of the idea in order to get the question right. If you do the reading you should be fine, but keep in mind that there is A LOT of reading to do.

TIP: print out the quizzes after the first take so you are able to look through each question and find the correct answer without worrying about the time limit. time limit is 5 hrs but its best to take your time with the printed quiz rather than feeling rushed. I didn't do any of the readings but still passed with an A. GOODLUCK!

This is class is super easy. Don't even have to show up to all the classes. His classes are mostly him talking and thats about it. He has 10 two page essays for the entire semester but the thing is that you get an automatic A on it. You can write whatever you want on the papers and he will give you an A for it. You could do anything in that class

Really great guy. He made attendance mandatory this semester bc only 2 people showed up last semester. He talks the whole class. Second half of semester we started meditating the last 5-10 minutes of class. You have to show up and turn papers in but you can turn it in late. Exams are easy to pass. EASY A.

Don't even need to buy the books that are "required." He goes over it in class. You need to show up at least 50% of the time to pass. He does the sign in sheet in the beginning of class maybe like every 2-3 days. Exams are easy. Able to take it twice. Answers show up after that. You can write anything in essay papers, he'll give you an automatic A.

He is always going to be on your side. The course has 7 writing assignments that he gives an automatic A on, optional reading and really, optional attendance. He lectures the entire time so most people ditch, rude, but an easy A. Very understanding professor with an easy course load and simple course load.

Dr. Laycock is THE BEST professor I have ever had. I took his online philosophy class, he made things easy to understand. There are 3 quizzes that you can take anytime before the end of the semester. From reading other reviews, he has rel. courses too. I plan to take those next semester! HE WANTS YOU TO SUCCEED. WE NEED MORE PROFESSORS LIKE HIM!!

Professor Laycock is a great, passionate teacher who goes into details in his lectures. He grades essays with leniency and gives another fun assignment, which is all on open-ended questions/answers. It's better to show up on zoom to understand what the essays and tests would be on. Great teacher for online classes!

He's a really cool professor and it's obvious that he cares a lot about both philosophy and the students. I only took him during the pandemic, so I'm not sure how different it is to have him in person, but his zoom lectures were always very informative and fun. His lectures included philosophical concepts, jokes, and stories that made me enjoy it.

He was very nice and did not assign a lot of work. He was very understanding and kind. He asked that we attended the zoom meetings but never took attendance or counted it against us if we didn't show up. His tests and quizzes were really easy and in my opinion, it would be really hard to fail this class.

Professor Laycock is caring to his student, he knows we have life outside of classroom so he didn't assigned much work. I took this class this spring semester. There's 3 exams (max. limit of 2 tries), 15 post discussions and reply to 2 of your classmates. I used quizlet for his exams (which really helped me). I will def enroll in his class again!

I really loved Steven's class! It was my favorite class this semester due to it being SUPER easy and he is just a great, caring professor. He requires you to show up to 50% of classes in order to pass the class, assigns 8, 2-page papers throughout the semester, and 3 quizzes that are easy, and he even encourages you to look the questions up lol!
