He provides a laid-backed learning atmosphere with engaging material. He knows the subject well, and offers easy extra-credit opportunities. Attend the lectures and take notes; you should do nicely.
Online class was so easy I got a perfect 100% A. Hint answers to his 3 exams are straight from the book. Same exact questions.
Required a $50 text that he *never* used, saying in class that we should read the book someday so our "brains wouldn't get flabby". Spoke in everyday language in class (and on the board) but used technical language (the kind that is in that book that we didn't have to read) on the exams.
I took an online class with him. This class required a lot of reading. One book was a real tough read, so hard that I couldn't absorb what I read. He offers some notes. If you take this class, take it in person.
easy A i got more than 100% on all of my tests just do the super easy extra credit
This was an online course that was easier than any other class that I have ever taken. There are no penalty for late assignments... and the tests are all open notes. If you can't get an A in this class than school must be really hard for you!
Great guy. He's really nice. Only downside is that he NEVER uses the book. Just take notes and you'll do fine on the quizzes. Don't even bother going to the bookstore for his texts.
i took the internet class. extremely easy.
pretty easy... if you can handle monotone lecture... other than that, really laid back and easy going....
A great teacher! Knows the subject cold. Speaks from no notes yet can repeat a lecture segment word-for-word a month later during the test review. Tolerant of even the most off-the-wall questions. Patient. Brilliant. Kind.
This online class is an easy A. If you read the chapters, the study questions will be the same questions on the test. I would definitely take him again.
Very cut and dry,as long as you know the study guide questions you'll ace the exams. Great discussions on the online bulletin board.
Easy going, cool, nice, mellow, sometimes boring but others very interesting. The class is very easy based on 3 tests. Highest scored test counts as half your grade, second highest 1/3, lowest test score 1/6.
Awesome! Such a fantasic attitude to life and students. You will learn alot about others and yourself. Extra credit assignments can help alot. You can get an "A" here. No luck needed. No stress or pressure here.
Attendance isn't mandatory, the ONLY work we had all semester was 3 tests. There are a TON of extra credit things you can do. Cruise class. The only downside is that sometimes the stuff he talks about is crazy, and can be hard to comprehend. But overall a good professor though.
Fantastic professor;makes subject material interesting and usable in daily life even after completion of the course. Just attend class as much as you can and turn in writting assignments and you will do great! He even offers extra credit, so getting an"A" is extremely possible as long as you try.
hey was a very fun teacher... with such great stories that can be applied to daily life... one of the words that i vividly remember is "namaste" which means the light within me regonizes the light within you.
very laid back.
AWESOME prof! sticks to his syllabus, uses the exam questions straight from the study guide questions. Lots of optional extra credit opportunities. Online class has the discussion area to get to know eachother & relevance to study guides. This was the best online experience throughout my 15+ online classes-def take another class from him again.
Took his online class. You just have to post 45 comment on the message board and take 3 exams. The grading scale is a better way to get a good grade. Its in your favor. Test are long. Study, Have notes. Then this class should be easy.
Your grade is based on 3 short and simple tests that mostly consist of true/false questions. The course focuses on the Asian religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Professor Laycock makes lectures boring by often telling multiple stories to make a single point. A very generous amount of extra credit is offered.
HE DID A VERY GOOD JOB WITH TRYING TO KEEP US INTERESTED IN HIS STORIES, I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM IF ANYONE NEEDED TO TAKE A RELIGION COURSE!!
I took his online class. He provided no feedback regarding posts students made on the bulletin board. Instead, he encouraged students to visit him at his office, which those of us who work, hence take online classes, cannot do.
Took online class... A LOT of reading and postings on BB. Exams suck. Couldn't keep up so dropped. Seems like a nice person though.
he's a really cool teacher. grade is based on 3 quizes.. mostly true or false and some multiple choice.. gives a lot of extra credit opportunities.. he's not strict about attendance but i reccomend that you dont miss classes since his quizes are based on lectures. we barely used our books. he's also cool about making up exams and grading is based o
excellent teacher, very friendly and helpful. i enjoy going to his class and will take more of his classes in the furture
very very nice guy. confusing at first, but as time goes by you'll understand. fun class! stories are interesting. good person!
great teacher, always there to help. mostly lectture so the text book is not really needed. just make sure you come to class and take note. give 3 quizs about 50 questions each very fair not to hard. i highly recommend his class.
Great teacher and super easy for a writing intensive. Stories are a little boring but still a great teacher. Grade is based off 3 quizzes and a 1 page paper a week. Lots of room for extra credit. Take him though he is a good easy teacher!
(ONLINE CLASS) This class is very easy and does not take up a lot of time. If you need an easy credit, I recommend it. However, if you want to learn more than what is stated in the textbook- take a face-to-face class instead. Laycock is a much better teacher in person than on-line.
I ENJOYED HIS COURSE ONLINE. I MANAGED TO GET EVERYTHING DONE WAY IN ADVANCE. I REALLY LIKED HOW HE ENCOURAGES YOU A LOT!
Brilliant, compassionate, helpful, supportive, encourging, extra-credit opportunities...really teaches...OMG!
Professor Laycock is a very nice and down-to-earth kind of person. He is understanding and soft spoken. He does not require attendance and his exams are multiple choice. As a writing intensive course, it was super easy. He gave us a topic to write about each week, that was basically our own opinions (ex. peace, love, harmony, etc.). Take him!!!
Laycock is AWSOME! took his online class and all the assignments were pretty much your own opinions. Tests were easy, straight out of the book and multiple choice. This was probably the best online class I have ever taken. :)
Mr. Laycock is a truly amazing human being. He is passionate about what he teaches and genuinely cares about his students. His class is fairly easy to pass, tests are multiple choice and some classes don't have any assignments at all, but his teaching alone will make you want to show up and listen. Hands down the best professor I've had.
Very much a master of his subject, Prof. Laycock is a great lecturer and a compassionate, caring man. Do the reading, do the writing assignments, and come to class, you will do well. You will want to come to class for his lectures. It was never a chore, always something I looked forward to.
I decided to take the online course after reading the "great" reviews here. However, the study guideline was confusing and unclear to say the least. I would not recommend anyone take this class.
this class was super easy because all i did was read the chapters and take the practice online quizzes at the website from your book, and his questions were almost all the same. i took this class online but the teacher was still very helpful and clear
Took this class online and loved it. Laycock is a very good communicator if you need help or don't understand. Wish he taught other online courses!
OMG... Can you say "Easy A" Professor Laycock is the best. For his online classes you only have to do 3 quzzies... hello 3 quizzes and you get to re-do them to get the highest points possible. If you need a easy class or a easy A, take Professor Laycock.
SUPER EASY A. TOOK ONLINE CLASS. JUST GOOGLE THE QUESTIONS ON THE QUIZ AND YOU WILL PASS.
I took his online class. First time ever taking an online class and it was easy as ever. 3 quizzes about 100 questions for each. The second and third quizzes includes questions from the first quiz, so you know the answers. Super Easy! You can also retake quizzes to get a higher grade, which he calls extra credit.
Just completed his online course and it was EASY. Talk about simple all you have to do to pass this class is pass 3 test and thats it. He just requires you to read the books for each upcoming test. If you?re looking for simplicity and an easy A this class is for you. Highly recommended.
He's a caring man. He speaks softly, but if you sit in the front that problem is solved. He's very understanding and is willing to help you in any way he can. I would suggest taking him.
This was my MOST CONFUSING CLASS! Had 5books for it. Despite everything thank God I got a perfect grade. My hardwork paid off and this was a real hardwork!
Took the online class. Wish more teachers were like him. Only 3 tests for the whole semester. Highly recommend this class if you want an easy A
Really easy class. The work is straightforward-3 exams all due at the end of the semester and he provides the questions for each exam for you to read/find in the textbook. You can truly work at your own pace without worrying about weekly deadlines. Take this class for the easy A while you learn about other cultures.
My first online course && it was super * easy !!!! (: answers are all online and from the book. No hw , just 3 exams due by the end of semester. He also gives you the questions for the exam to find in he book . Other than that, easy A! Take this course!
Very EASY A! I took his online course this semester, NO HW, NO ASSIGNMENTS! Just 3 quizzes to do, which he even provides retakes for them. I didn't even need to buy his book (valued at $150-new). I prefer taking this ONLINE class for a SUPER EASY A!
All we have to do is take 3 quizzes online the whole semester. They are all due on the last day of instruction, and we can take them anytime. All the answers are online which really helps. Super easy class. Definitely take it!
Took the online class. It was clear on what was expected in the class. Get ready to read and do a little bit of research. Then complete the quiz that are assigned. He's very understanding and is willing to help you in any way that he can.
Easy. 3 Exams. Lots of reading. I had a total of 5 books for this class, but all short and easy. He gives you the questions for the exams and it is exact. So there is no way you should not get an A in this class.
Easy A. 3 quizzes, that's all. Lot's of reading, but not difficult to find answers to quizzes. Highly suggest to do the reading for your own personal growth despite the grade.
It'd be a crime not to pass this class. Final grade determined by only three 50 quizzes. Prof. gives out questions that you'll be quizzes on. Don't even bother purchasing the books. Most of quiz answers are on his study guides.
Take his class if the only thing you want to get out of the class is an easy A. If you do take his class, there's no need to buy the textbook. Just google the answers for all of his quizzes and it'll be there. Word for word.
Make sure that you that at the end of the semester your grades are correctly inputed on your transcripts. I had to remind instructor to double check all tests because 2 tests were missing on my grade book. Luckily, he fixed this, and I was finally assigned the appropriate grade, which was an A instead of a D,for both Rel 150 & Phil 100.
I was excited about the class in the beginning, we did a lot of group sharing. After the first 2 weeks, that turned into lectures. Some questions, but mostly if the students participate. You don't have to bring the books to class. He's an easy going guy. Very intelligent.
Took this class online. Professor Laycock has a clear grading criteria. Just have to read and study your materials. There is only 3 exams no homework. Each exam is worth 50-52 points which is each questions. Little tip do not procrastinate!! Other than that easy class!! Take him!!
Such a nice guy. Responds to emails so fast its unbelievable. Willing to do anything to help (including resetting quizzes you messed up on). READ THE BOOKS!!!!!!! Only 3 exams so if you mess up on one, you're basically toast. Not a class you can just wing. He makes up his own test questions so don't even google. time on tests based on #of Qs
took this class online. There was only 3 Exams but you have to read. Exams are 50-53 questions and make sure you take your time doing the exam as you cannot go back and re-answer a question. Other than that he does email quickly and reminds students that exams are due. He even let us retake it once more if you mess up on any exams. Take him.
Took the online course and dropped it after taking the first exam. He offers a study guide, but the questions on the exam are difficult and require you to understand the very concept of the idea in order to get the question right. If you do the reading you should be fine, but keep in mind that there is A LOT of reading to do.
TIP: print out the quizzes after the first take so you are able to look through each question and find the correct answer without worrying about the time limit. time limit is 5 hrs but its best to take your time with the printed quiz rather than feeling rushed. I didn't do any of the readings but still passed with an A. GOODLUCK!
HIS ONLINE PHIL 100 CLASS WAS SOOO EASY. ONLY 3 TEST YOU TAKE WHENEVER YOU WANT BEFORE THE END OF SEMESTER . I LOOKED UP ALL OF MY ANSWERS ON GOOGLE AND PASSED WITH AN A
This is class is super easy. Don't even have to show up to all the classes. His classes are mostly him talking and thats about it. He has 10 two page essays for the entire semester but the thing is that you get an automatic A on it. You can write whatever you want on the papers and he will give you an A for it. You could do anything in that class
Really great guy. He made attendance mandatory this semester bc only 2 people showed up last semester. He talks the whole class. Second half of semester we started meditating the last 5-10 minutes of class. You have to show up and turn papers in but you can turn it in late. Exams are easy to pass. EASY A.
Don't even need to buy the books that are "required." He goes over it in class. You need to show up at least 50% of the time to pass. He does the sign in sheet in the beginning of class maybe like every 2-3 days. Exams are easy. Able to take it twice. Answers show up after that. You can write anything in essay papers, he'll give you an automatic A.
He is always going to be on your side. The course has 7 writing assignments that he gives an automatic A on, optional reading and really, optional attendance. He lectures the entire time so most people ditch, rude, but an easy A. Very understanding professor with an easy course load and simple course load.
Dr. Laycock is THE BEST professor I have ever had. I took his online philosophy class, he made things easy to understand. There are 3 quizzes that you can take anytime before the end of the semester. From reading other reviews, he has rel. courses too. I plan to take those next semester! HE WANTS YOU TO SUCCEED. WE NEED MORE PROFESSORS LIKE HIM!!
You can either read the books, learn, and take the three exams, or google all of the answers to the tests because he never changes his exam questions.
Great guy, down to earth and I'd choose his class every time. I'm only bothered there isn't more courses by him. I appreciate the way he goes about teaching and hope there are more people that follow his lead.
His online soooooo easy to get A. It has only three quizzes for entire semester. Thats it. Quizlet is super helpful to study for each exam.
He know everybody just search all answers by googling, so I made up own questions all quizzes and those are very very vague and tricky to get correct answer. So, I shouldve asked him what I got wrong all the time Honestly, searching activities for what dont know is a way of studying too..
3 quizzes required, no other homework. He also sends out email reminders which is cool. All 3 quizzes due at the end of the semester. EASY A!
This professor is very caring and constantly tries to motivate his students. Grades are based only on 3 quizzes which you can retake. Search the questions on Quizlet.
Professor Laycock is a great, passionate teacher who goes into details in his lectures. He grades essays with leniency and gives another fun assignment, which is all on open-ended questions/answers. It's better to show up on zoom to understand what the essays and tests would be on. Great teacher for online classes!
He's a really cool professor and it's obvious that he cares a lot about both philosophy and the students. I only took him during the pandemic, so I'm not sure how different it is to have him in person, but his zoom lectures were always very informative and fun. His lectures included philosophical concepts, jokes, and stories that made me enjoy it.
Only 3 quizzes and super easy class. Professor is caring and give syou lots of time to get things done. Take his class if you can!
This is probably the easiest course you could ever take. All you need to do every week is post 1 question and 2 replies. This class also consist only 3 quizzes, and they are super easy. Take this class and your grade will definitely be an A+.
He was very nice and did not assign a lot of work. He was very understanding and kind. He asked that we attended the zoom meetings but never took attendance or counted it against us if we didn't show up. His tests and quizzes were really easy and in my opinion, it would be really hard to fail this class.
Professor Laycock was by far one of my favorite professor's, class consisted of 1 discussion question, respond to 2 classmates every week & 3 quizzes. His messages are humerous and inspiring. Always available for questions. Take his class you may surprised how interesting and fun phil. can be, with an amaizing proff.
Professor Laycock is caring to his student, he knows we have life outside of classroom so he didn't assigned much work. I took this class this spring semester. There's 3 exams (max. limit of 2 tries), 15 post discussions and reply to 2 of your classmates. I used quizlet for his exams (which really helped me). I will def enroll in his class again!
I really loved Steven's class! It was my favorite class this semester due to it being SUPER easy and he is just a great, caring professor. He requires you to show up to 50% of classes in order to pass the class, assigns 8, 2-page papers throughout the semester, and 3 quizzes that are easy, and he even encourages you to look the questions up lol!
Easiest class ever. You receive 3 quizzes and a participation grade along with all your reading material, and you have until the end of the term to complete 3 assignments.
