Studying is a must... it's college what do you expect? Great class if you already know a little about music and can memorize pieces of classical music easily. If you're like me and can't then forget it. Overall this class was pretty good. Oh BTW he has some really lame jokes! LAUGH at them!!!!

Awesome teacher, reviews over material clear and easy to understand. Jokes are so lame that there funny. Highly recommended as a teacher if you want to learn music.

Mr. Bingham gets a bad rap, that he doesn't deserve. I had to miss several classes do to hospitalizations for my child and myself, and I earned a B in the class, because Mr. B, went out of his way to help me. He allowed me to make up exams, because of the ER's. He offered me an extra credit assignment to make up for missed quizes. He is awesome!!

Mr.B is great....whoever sais that he isnt, is just mad because they didnt try. there is a concert report, and a research paper due during the very last class, he tells you about it when the class first starts. He gives you a good review for the tests, and there is no final if you take all of the tests. there are five listenings on the tests which

Great teacher! attend class and read the chapters and you are garanteed an A. He also tries to make the class fun too, but his jokes are really corny. There are 4 exams and 2 papers (which are due at the end of the semester). the final is optional if you take all 4 of the exams.

I feel very inclined to say(based on harsh misconception of this beautiful man) that Dr. Bingham was the kindest, most positively encouraging teacher i have ever had. i played guitar in his jazz ensemble class and i dont think ive ever gotten so much out of a single class in my entire life. never been on such a personal level as with Dr. B. bravo

Doctor Bingham was a helpful teacher, My only complaint with him was that, instead of telling you what to do, he tells you how to do it, so it becomes a little hard to figure out what you're supposed to be doing.

Took this class online. It was A LOT of work, but I passed with an A and came into it knowing nothing about classical music. He is very helpful and answers questions quickly.

I thought that the class was very structured and easy to follow. Instruction was clear and reviews for all exams was given. Everything was very easy. Class project was easy, attending a concert while inconvenint was very enjoyable and a learning experience. Would take the class again with same professor.

I really enjoyed this class a lot. It was my first online class and I struggled to keep up with some assignments, but at crunchtime in the end, he helped me a lot. I came in this class with previous knowledge of music theory, but you absolutely have to read the book, there is some interesting stuff in there.

Doc. B. Was a great online professor. I found the class to be well organized. although the concert and class project may seem like a lot. It isn't hard and you may find yourself enjoying some culture in your life. Pay attention and do all your essays and you will do fine. Doc. B. is a great guy! I would take his class again if I could.

Dr. Bingham is very easy to get along with assuming the student is doing their part and taking responsibility for his or her own actions. He made the class fun and it is clear her is teaching a subject he truly enjoys. He is very easy to talk to and keeps the lines of communication open. He gets an A+!

The work-load in this class is not bad. Just don't expect to be able to sit around the entire semester and do nothing. The calender tells you ahead of time when assignments will become available and he gives plenty of time to get them done. He's helpful if you don't understand something and is quick to respond to messages. A+ Doc B!

This class was great. I thought it was pretty straight foward.The syllabus told you how to get a good grade in the class.There is a mandatory concert that each student must attend.I attended the jazz concert at Santa fe which was very good. Doc B is the best and you learn a lot about the class. If you keep up with the work you will pass easily!!!!

This class is very straight foward. Doc B follows the syllabus just as it is. He is very organized. The class is not frustrating and Doc B is excellent with responding with emails. I would reccommend this class and this teacher. Doc B is very cool. So if you want a fun class with a great teacher take him. Just keep up and you will do GREAT!!

I took this class online and it was pretty straight forward pay attention to the calander and you'll do fine.Tip-start on the project early so you wont be overwhelmed towards the end I enjoyed this class and Dr. B is just a phone/email away and always responds. Take this class if you need a humanities credit.

I really enjoyed this class, Doc B is awesome. It's a very easy class if you just follow instructions and participate. If you get a chance go see one of SFC's Jazz Ensembles play.

One of the most helpful professors and he wants you to get a good grade. The course is not hard at all, tests are kind of challenging. Overall, a great way to get a good grade out of a degree requirement.

I was rather impressed with Doc. B. I also liked the book which I was able to obtain an ecopy which made studying even easier! i was able to take my laptot everywhere or print certain pages for references. Definitely take Doc B and his class!

If you want to get an A in this class this is what you need to do. Pay attention to the calendar and deadlines. Read the book. Put some effort into your essays. Listen to the music selections. Doctor B is super cool and he is very helpful. If something comes up show initiative and email him or call him. He won't get annoyed.

If you have any questions about the syllabus or if the dates and times don't coincide, don't panic. Shoot him an email and he'll let you know what's up. Don't wait until the last minute to look for a concert to attend. Be on the look out from the very beginning.

Professor Bingham was great & extremely helpful. You need to listen to the music frequently so you can learn to hear musical themes, instruments, tempo, etc. This is not something you can do last minute before a test. You will feel like you are actually learning something you can use. Keep up with the listening and work and you will do fine.

I had a medical emergency and Professor Bingham helped me make sure I stayed motivated and passed the class. Start your papers early, listen to the music all the time to really learn it (so you will recognize when hearing clips of it on quizzes) and keep up with the calendar and you will do great! Don't let the papers scare you off. Amazing class.

This is a pretty easy class as long as you keep up with the readings. Doc B is willing to answer any questions, and is a really nice person to boot.

I took this class online with Doc B and it was excellent. I really enjoyed it. Doc B is very helpful and available. If you read the book and listen to the music and put some effort into it, this class is fairly easy and very enjoyable.

Such a great guy! He gave me lots of extra credit, possibly because I had a lot of music background. He always tried to get me to join the SFC band. He was so nice, really helpful, and quick to respond. I'd send him an e-mail at midnight one night, and have an answer by 6am. Really easy class. Just do the work!

Really great professor. Offers alot of assistance & is willing to make time inbetween his classes to help you pass. I had a musical background,(clarinet player) & when I was ready to just settle for a B in the class, he said that I would get an A if I just trusted him to help me play learn the piano. I would take him again! Excellent Professor!

Doc B is great. Always telling corny jokes, very boisterous! Very passionate about music, which makes learning interesting and fun. Quizzes in the Chapters, every exam has a listening portion and around 50 questions, and 2 papers that are somewhat difficult. Attendance is mandatory and counts. Great class though, take it!

This class was very good. Doc. B was a great teacher. He was a little slow at posting grades but he tried very hard. He helps you with any question you have, and if you go to class and actually try on the papers and exams its an easy A.

Great professor. Dr. Bingham makes class interesting and fun, usually with the help of incredibly corny jokes(but in all honesty, what's better than a teacher spouting music-related plays on words?). Doc is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I have had him for jazz band, music theory, and music fundamentals. He is super funny, caring, and like a father to me. I took this class Online Fall 2010. The sylibus was scary and alittle hard to understand but once the class got started it all made since. Essay sets are not essays they are just short answer questions. There are two papers due that do require some writing. Over all great prof and easy class.

Dr. Bingham is a great professor. I took his class online and he's very clear about when assignments are due. He responds to emails promptly and he's very helpful as well. Do buy the book because you will need it to do the assignments and to study for the quizzes and tests. Make sure to look at the calendar at often times.Great class and professor.

Professor Binghan is an awesome teacher! I took his music appreciation (MUL 1010) class online this semester and he was very easy. The syllabus seemed kinda scary at first but you just have to read it. He is really good about getting back to you on angel and the material is easy. the quizzes and test are easy just gotta read your book. Take him!

Great Professor. Very clear on what he expects for all assignments, read the syllabus and you should have no questions. Exams are extremley easy, he gives you a study guide for every chapter so if you study there is no reason you should not do well. Responds to emails pretty quickly

He is a very nice and caring person, but he picks music that is too hard for the group and expects them to practice it when they never do. The concert at the end of the semester was the worst I have ever played in. For a college level group it was very bad. I think he should not assume everyone is going to practice Not everyone is a music major

I had a few classes with Dr. Bingham and he does a fantastic job in all of them. Though music he has chosen can be challenging it is good not to be treated like a middle school band student. Dr. Bingham is a a great music professor. He puts almost all is time and energy into the Santa Fe music program. He also has a lot of experience in the music community. He makes sure to keep good relationships with the other teachers in the department so we can experience mixed events such as last semesters opera. Overall wonderful teacher.

Amazing director! The songs aren't easy, but he really pushes you to improve and trust me, the results at the end are worth it. My skill has increased tenfold thanks to Doc B! Incredible director and incredibly caring, I wouldn't have exchanged my time in this band for anything. Concerts are pretty fun too :]

AMAZING CLASS!!!!! Made my Tuesday/Thursday nights, this ensemble is so much fun. The songs are challenging, and yes you do have to practice the pieces, but it's a band, your homework is to practice!!!! And the practice really pays off, the songs are great and challenging and very very interesting! Great songs, great band, great director.

Doc B is an AMAZING director, and person.He really wants you to grow as a musician, but makes it an enjoyable process. I taken many course with him and I must say he has to be one of the BEST professors at Santa Fe!He picks great literature for the bands to play going outside of the usual classical music, he really wants his students to enjoy music

Best director ever. By far my favorite classes as a non music major it's basically all I looked forward to all day. I learned SO much. I went from a mallet player tto playing jazz piano in the jazz combo and playing percussion for SIX semesters since I started here.

Professor Bingham is a very good teacher! He made class fun and interesting. You have to read the book and listen to the music on CD to keep up. Study hard and you will do fine. Enjoyable class.

Great instructor! Really pushes his students to improve, and you can tell with every rehearsal. Great guy, extremely understanding and flexible and will work with you and help you, no matter what. Definitely recommended, the ensembles are really fun!

great band director, I really learned a lot about improvisation and other things in his jazz bands (all 3 of them). He's really great and will be a lifelong friend, plus he knows his stuff when it comes to jazz and improve and improving your skills.

Just took his music class in the spring, really cool guy and easy to follow. Helpful. You'll learn a lot if you listen and pay attention, and he's funny so it's fun

Being a music major I have had many music teachers. Steve was great when I started out, but as time progressed on I found out that he isn't my favorite. Actually he personalizes everything that you do. If you don't show up to class you will be literally shunned. Take him as long a you are NOT a music major.

Doc B does a great job of making sure you complete all of your assignments. For an online music course, a lot more reading is required than I thought would be. Don't expect this to be an "easy A" class. You will have to do a lot of work. Great teacher, though!

Dr. Bingham (or Doc B!) is an incredible professor. Definitely one of the greatest I've had. If you get stuck with anything he'll go out of his way to make sure you understand it, and he's a very patient and understanding guy, so it's a very low pressure learning environment, which in my opinion, is the best way to learn.

Easy A+ class. I took it online cause I'm not majoring in the Arts or anything in that department. There were class discussions, 'essay-sets' (more like questions), quizzes, 4-5 exams, and 2 essays. You MUST complete the 2 (800 & 1,000 words) essays to have higher than a D+, but he's an extremely easy grader. He's a nice old dude, kind of hippy. :)

Although I only interacted with Doc B via email, he is one of the sweetest and laid back teachers I've ever had. Even though he is laid back, he expects you to give 100% in all of the work you do. I'm not a music major, and I have very little background in music but I did find this course very interesting.

Dr. B is the sweetest. I take him for band. The class is easy if you have did band in high and/or middle school. But if you've never taken band before i suggest not taking it because theres no time to stop and teach you a instrument. If you want to learn a instrument take lessons. And don't miss lots of rehearsals because you'll fall behind.

Great online layout, with assignments due every Monday. I have taken many online courses, some teachers cant teach online, Doc B CAN. there are 2 long 1000 word papers in this class that a mandatory, and online discussions, you should read the book. also you will have to attend a concert and write a paper on it, I highly recommend choosing Doc B.

Greatly enjoyed Doc B's online class and would definitely take him again. If you do your work (completely) and submit it on time, you'll do fine. Online discussions are important so be sure to participate. Often gives extra credit for additional effort in discussions and assignments. Great online experience. Would highly recommend Doc B!

Okay. If your a Music Major and taking Band he will be much harder on you especially if you miss class. If you love Concert Band, Jazz Band and ETC. He is the teacher for you. For Percussion he's not one so he only knows so much but tries to get music for this section.

Doc B's Music Appreciation course was a pretty easy A. There's weekly quizzes, "essay" sets and discussion posts. Everything is in the textbook, so if you have a digital copy of the book it makes your life 100x better. Essay sets aren't really essays, just a bunch of questions from the chapter that help out with taking quizzes.

Doc B is a little strange in his mannerisms but is absolutely hilarious and genuinely cares for his students. He's one of the most passionate directors I've encountered. His class is easy as long as you know your music and show up.

Doc B's online music course is Easy, but you do have weekly homework and quizzes. He was a great professor, I would recommend for someone who stays on top of their work and who is looking for an easy 'A'.

Doc B is a wonderful professor and human being. He is very clear and reasonable on his grading rubric. He will reward extra points on homework assignments if students go the extra mile putting in the effort. He sets his students up for success. I appreciate art music even more after taking his class.

I took this class online and it did challenge me a little since i have no musical background at all. If you read the assigned text you'll be fine and Doc B is very understanding. Make sure to do the major assignments and you'll pass no problem.

Dr. B's online class is easy as well as tedious. He is a very considerate teacher. You will have HW every week and if you do a good job on it he will give you extra points for doing it which will help later on. Make sure you have the book bc everything in class comes straight from the book. You don't have to read the book, but skim through it.

The class was overall easy for his online course you have a quiz, 25 book questions, and a class discussion and weeks you have test there is no quiz and sometimes one less of an assignment. The BIG down fall is that he only allows one chance on his quizzes and test. You have two essays for the course they are pretty easy.
