He is great! not all that clear but man is he funny! his look alone is funny than once u get to know him , he's just wonderful!he's an interesting creature!

He is a nice guy, his class is easy but there is a bit of busy work. I recommend this course. He is a laid back guy and funny. I have never seen him fall asleep in class though, he always seems pretty awake although he never really starts the class right on time so you can be a few minutes late.

This is a very easy class and Mr. Mackie makes it very easy to learn and do well in this class. I recommend taking him for any class that you can.

Steve is very clear on everything, from test dates to epithelial cell tissues. Follow his thought questions before each quiz and study them before tests and you should be stellar!

THIS CLASS IS NOT EASY. But when you take it with Steve he makes it a little easier. He's really helpful with quiz and essay questions. Steve always has extra time for the students. Plus his beard is awesome, and its worth taking the class all by its self.

IF you cant pass this class just dropout. Its an interesting class and its easy, its win-win.

Steve is the best teacher at Pima, HANDS DOWN. The people in here that say his class is hard are from his advanced nursing, but if you take him for BIO 105 it's an easy A. No expensive text books to buy and all quizzes are take home! Plus no midterms or finals! AND you actually learn! Must take for your science requirement.

Steve is great! His class is an easy A if you do all assignments. You don't need to buy a textbook; you can google everything. Lots of quizzes, but they are all take-home and very easy. If you're happy with your grade at the end of the semester, you don't have to take the final. This class is a must-take. Steve is awesome!

if you are not a science major, take his 105 class. He KNOWS that some us are not sciece majors, and he is amazing. He's nice, encouraging and willing to work with students.

Amazing teacher. Passionate about the subject and teaches it in an interesting way. Pretty much hands test/quiz answers to you on a silver platter in advance. If you get anything less than an A in his class, it's your own fault and it means you didn't try at all.

Truly the best BIO teacher I've ever had! He makes abundantly clear everything that you NEED to know in order to pass his class. He does not require the textbook, because he feels it adds in info that you will never need to know, but he does require the Lab Manual that costs $14. He's incredible - try to get in his class if you can!

Mackie is seriously a great teacher! All the work is clear. Your homework consist of take home four question quizzes which are extremely easy, just dont fall behind on those. Even though he says attendance isnt mandatory go to every class. Group labs (easy) and articles (easy) No tests and no finals. I highly recommend him!

One of the best professors I have ever had HONSETLY. So clear on what he expects from his students throughout the semester. Like mostly any other class it starts off rather easy but gets harder towards the end. He post's every single handout on MyPima and his lessons are very intresting. He gives quiz's every week.

First off no need to buy then expensive book thats a huge plus +++. Anyhow he gives you great hints once you get and exams quizes everyweek though and some labs and exams are a bit of some work alot to memorize ans study so work hard and get a good grade he does not favorite any students everyone is equal and you get good laughs in his class lol.

Professor Mackie is such a great teacher. The class does take some effort and there is a quiz once a week, however the information is presented coherently. He provides study guides and doesn't try to trick his students on tests. He's a straight shooter and an awesome teacher. I would take a class with him again for sure.

HE IS VERY INTERESTING, AND HE TELLS YOU EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING TO BE ON THE TEST, THERE ARE NO MYSTERIES.

He is one of the few teachers left that you can tell this is his passion. He ALWAYS posts weekly updated grades in his classroom, so you know what you have from day one till the day before the final. The final exam is optional. Also you do not have to buy the book he provides countless notes and PowerPoints that are gone over in class.

Prof Mackie is an awesome teacher! First of all, you only have to buy one book that just so happens to be about $14. His lectures are very captivating and full of information. He takes real life situations and applies sciencebio to it. He thoroughly answers questions and he also keeps an updated weekly grade sheet posted.

This class is challenging, if you don't like to study don't take this class. There is a quiz every week and all questions are short answer, he clearly gives you the answers to the questions during his lectures. He also makes it clear what you need to study in order to pass the quizzes and exams I really don't enjoy science, but he kept my attention

There is a lot of material so doing your studying and reading is needed to get a passing grade but he doesn't make it harder than it needs to be. Pay attention in class!

Alright, Steve is the easiest science professor out there. He's a little different... There are no exams, all quizzes are take home, you can turn things in late with no worries, and the list could go on! This is a no stress Bio 105 class!! His lectures are long, and not really on point, but it's an easy A! Definitely would highly recommend him!!

Easy to pass if you review your lecture notes and read MyPima files day of or day before quiz. Very clear about what will be on the tests. If you can stay awake and pay attention, you will pass. Good teacher, helps out alot, but make sure that you study before every quiz and test. Relatively straight-forward when it comes to knowing what to study but you get kinda lost in the lectures. Studying outside class will help alot, but isnt necessary.

Mackie is an easy grader and his rubric is pretty much made for all his student to be successful. Good learning experience. His Karmic Bag is pretty much the best thing about being in his class. If you are not a Science major and want to get that requirement out of the way you should def take his course. No final if you have a good grade.

Mackie was so funny in his lectures. It's kind of heavy lecture but he's very clear with what he says and gives a significant amount of examples so you understand the material. It was a great semester

He is very passionat in what he is teaching. I respect him a lot. Though he can be very anal in your answers you put in quizs and tests though he does help out out and everything in posted on the drive. So if you ready work hard and set time aside you should do well. If you just show up and do the work and somewhat study youll get a C in the class.

One of the best instructors I've ever had. He is a funny, engaging lecturer who keeps your interest. He is very clear on what will be on tests and how tests will be graded. I don't recommend missing classes - there is no way to get the material you miss unless you have a friend in class. I wish he taught all my classes!

Steve goes above and beyond to ensure success of each student were. For example, he outlines all the critical information you need for each quiz the class period before them, he provides the opportunity to raise your grade with 2 extra quizzes and an optional final exam, and even lets you bring a study guide to use during the third exam. Amazing!

I took this 5 hour class over the summer and it was very lecture heavy especially since he goes on a lot of tangents. Class can be very long if you keep looking at the clock. However, if you pay attention, you should do good in the class. Take good, detailed notes and focus on the thought questions! Do that and you should get an A.

I took Mr. Mackie's 5 week summer class and it was one of the easiest college courses I have ever taken. The lectures are pretty interesting. Mackie is honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had so far in my college journey. He is a master of his field and is willing to pass all his knowledge on to make sure we succeed in our future careers. I have never rated a professor before and I'm glad this is the first professor I have decided to rate. Steve is really laid back, and to be honest, quite funny. He has some extra credit opportunities which are always helpful, and although his classes are lecture heavy, he clearly states the main points of focus to succeed in future quizzes & tests.

Steve is very passionate about biology. He gives you a list of "Thought Questions" and a packet with all the materials he will go over in the semester. Completing the thought questions, visiting his office hours, and attend class will help your grade A LOT. His lectures are heavy and his exams can be intimidating.

Steve is one of the MOST AMAZING teachers I've ever encountered. He cares about his students, and prepares you for every quiz, exam and lab by going over it again and again in detail. Possibly one of the best teachers I have ever had. Science is nowhere near my favorite subject, but this class made me rethink that. I learned a lot that I can apply to my everyday life.

Steven's class was always a fun time. There are no exams except the option final, but chances are you won't have to worry about taking it as long as you keep up with the work. He gives take home quizzes, but they're all fairly easy, just thought provoking at times. He accepts any late work with only a -25% penalty. I highly recommend his class!

Steve's lectures can be super long, especially in a 5 week summer course, but he is sweet and caring. Gaining points before final exam is so easy, that on final you are not worried at all about getting an A in the class even if you fail exam. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Caring professor.

Show up and pay attention, you'll pass. Be ready for weekly quizzes (answers to next quiz on are the key!) If you answer the thought questions, you will get pretty much every question to every quiz and exam. LOTS of extra credit. Very lenient, but don't leave after break, you'll miss half the lecture.

Mackie is a really good teacher! I myself who didn't take any Chem classes before did learn a lot from him. He heavy lectures through the whole class and every week there's a quiz. Lots of chances to get extra credit. takes long to put grades in d2l. 4 exams and one of them is optional to replace previous exam. Overall, great teacher and funny.

Professor Mackie was great all semester long. Despite class being virtual, he did well in explaining the materials in lecture and was always open to questions before, during, or after class. Lectures can be heavy, couple easy labs, and 3 exams with an optional final exam. Do well on the first 3 exams. Highly recommended.

Professor Mackie was great this semester. Although it was on zoom he made it enjoyable. You can tell the love he has for science and he is willing to answer any questions you have. There are 3 exams with an optional final. He provides extra credit and wants to see his students succeed. He responds to emails fast so there is no way not to pass.

I took his class as a summer class and honestly it was an easy A. Everything you needed was on the power points and was pretty straight forward. He loved to answer questions and would even record the lectures to send out if you needed them. He truly loves his job & cares about his students learning biology. Also his pet cat was adorable. 10/10 :)

Prof. Mackie gives clear instructions on what is going to be on the quizzes and exams. He thoroughly goes through the lectures and is helpful with answering questions. The class is very lecture heavy and you definitely don't want to miss any quiz or lecture days. As long as you take notes and study the lecture and labs, you will pass.

Professor Mackie is a very easy grader as long as you meet his grading criteria. He also offers extra credit and going to class really makes a difference. He will be flexible with deadlines as long as he sees that you participate in class consistently. He explains things very well and keeps the class interesting. Ask for help, he really cares!

I only had this professor for a week as we had a sub come in, but Steve was very kind and was willing to give lots of extra credit and really cared for his students. For what I have experienced with Steve, I do recommend him and his course!

Amazing. More than enough extra credit offered through easy take home quizzes. Understanding when group members do not pick up slack, make him aware and he will not penalize you. Mr. Mackie is awesome, my brother and I had him. As long as you are willing to put in the time and effort, you won't fail this class. Strict grading policy. Answers emails outside of class. Lot of criteria but he makes it easy to follow along. He is always cracking jokes. Gives extra credit. He always makes class fun. I 100000% recommend his class!
